ok ok im done for tonight i swear
one of the worst things about tumblr anti-japanese racism is how many people are like "im helping" but they are not helping at all. like people will be like "ugh it sucks when people are racist and also when they like japanese food because its actually not good and the stuff they like is stupid to enjoy and makes them look worse as people (food they listed is just. normal food. actually literally common chain store food.) and all the cultural exports are stupid and-" like YOU ARE ALSO BEING RACIST. the issue stems from people treating a real place and people and culture etc as a theme park or something- but someone liking ramen and rice balls and tonkatsu is not killing anyone. that is literally common restaurant food. its fine. they SHOULD visit japan and buy normal food and eat normal food in normal restaurants. also funny to me that so often the "real japanese food" that gets offered is like. old people food that the average person under the age of like 50 does not really eat on average? i eat like an old person somewhat often so like it doesnt really apply to me but like it also still feels racist to be like "sushi is a fake japanese food to like you poser why dont you eat squid guts" like okay the average person is still not necessarily eating this for lunch. lots of people eat instant noodles, lots of people visit noodle shops, its actually also super racist to imply they exist FOR FORIGNERS. they are not popular for British tourists. animated tv shows do not add cameos of cup noodles for American fans. its fine, its literally fine. that entitlement is literally the exact problem. and its way less racist for someone to just like dango and soba and acknowledge its japanese than for there to be someone who wont stop screaming about how its too 'weebish' to like them. ITS FOOD. natto could become a trend overnight and people would start moaning about how its now weeb food. food that shows up in anime a lot and thus becomes recognizable to people who watch it... are in anime because PEOPLE EAT IT. OFTEN ENOUGH TO BE JUST... IN A TV SHOW. also, youre usually just yelling at someone to eat vegetables when they normally dont eat vegetables anways let alone pickled ones.
like, people who eat a lot of instant noodles and thats the extent of their japanese food they can eat, and they claim ti like Japanese food are probably just stranded in FuckAll Kansas USA and broke so they buy maruchan. im always saying that people generally who actually have a passion would LIKE to learn more, they WANT to try more and stuff. theyre just usually stranded culturally so their only easy source for anything ends up being anime or pinterest or something.

sugary sweet
shinso hitoshi x fem!reader
[a/n: alrighty so I know it seems like I’m spoiling my baby @shinaus, and I totally am because she deserves the world, but I promise that I’ll get back to normal requests and some ideas I have soon BUT for now, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY LOVE! 🥳 Here’s a little gift for you, I just wanna say that I appreciate you so so much 💓 you’ve been here since the start pretty much and I thank you for all the kindness and support that you’ve given me, I’m so excited to see how our friendship will grow as we both progress in our blogs. i love u 🥺 here’s a little soft boy shinso for your birthday, and for anyone else who wants to read, so enjoy! -yours truly, bunnyy -`ღ´- ]
He knew who you were, he knew your name and order by heart. You came in almost every morning before your 9am lectures, then you would come in for lunch and do some homework before going back for your 1:30 lecture. So when you came in at 8am on the dot, your drink was all ready waiting for you.
“Morning Toshi.” He blushed at your sleepy little smile.
“Good morning (y/n).” He slid the cup of iced coffe to you. “And happy birthday.” He then slid a cake pop over to you. He hoped he got the date right, he vaguely remembers when you told him but he’s guessing that the expression on your face meant that he had been correct. The fact that he remembered your birthday made your poor little ole’ heart beat erratically in your chest. The way he tilted his head just enough to make him look like a confused kitten hadn’t helped either.
“O-Oh thank you, I can’t believe you r-remembered.” Your smile grew a bit wider when he looked away, sheepishly rubbing his neck.
“It’s nothing, really.” He noticed his cheeks starting to feel hot so he scrambled to change the subject. “So uhh what’s the rest of your day look like? You gonna go party it up at the club with a few friends?” The way your face fell just a bit made his heart ache.
“Well uhm not exactly, I actually didn’t plan on doing anything today.” There was a small silence that followed directly after you had said that because he was hoping to hear a ‘just kidding’ leave your lips but it never did.
“Seriously? You’re not gonna do anything?”
You shook your head.
“You’re just gonna go to your 1pm lecture later on then go home?” He honestly couldn’t believe it.
“Well not exactly. My professor actually cancelled so I’m just going to my morning class.” That still didn’t seem like a good plan. You sipped on your drink while he looked deep in thought. Seeing as this had happened from time to time during your many idle conversations, you just patiently waited until his idea was formed.
“That just won’t do.” He clicked his tongue, head shaking in disapproval. “I’ve got a plan.” You were intrigued to where this would go so you motioned for him to continue. “I get off at like 2:30 so why don’t I pick you up then and we go have some fun. Hmm? Whaddya say?”
“H-Have some fun? But what would we do?”
“That’s for me to know and you to find out.” He cheekily winked at you. “So? Sound like a plan?” As much as you’d want to argue that you didn’t want to waste his time, the little grin on his lips was enough to draw out a ‘yes’ from you.
After talking for a bit more and exchanging phone numbers, you left the coffee shop and made your way to the lecture hall. It was surprising to say, but you couldn’t concentrate for the life of you because you were excited. You were excited to hang out with Shinso, even if that little voice in the back of your head was saying he was doing it out of pity. You pushed the thought away and once the lecture was finally over, you rushed over to your dorm, excitement rushing through your body when your phone buzzed with a few texts from him.
From Toshi:
I should be by to pick you up around 3pm
Make sure to wear something comfortable
You had about an hour and a half to kill so you got some notes out of the way before starting to get ready. Now, did comfortable mean some sweats and a hoodie? Or did he mean more along the lines of a t-shirt and jeans? Opting for the safe option of jeans, you started to get ready. Your heart was thumping in your chest once more. It kinda felt like you were going on a date. You had let your mind wander for a bit, so much so that the second time the doorbell sound echoed through your place was what pulled you out of your trance. You quickly made your way to the front door and opened it to reveal a casual Shinso standing behind it. He looked quite good, well he looked good ALL the time but it was different to see him out of his work uniform.
“You ready?” Not trusting your words, you nodded and followed him out of the building. The both of you had walked in a comfortable silence before he turned to look at you. “Alright, so first item on the agenda. I thought we could go get some ramen because I don’t know about you but I am starving. But if your not down for ramen, I am so down to go for anything else.”
“No no, ramen works. I actually didn’t eat lunch so that sounds amazing.”
After having an amazing bowl of tonkatsu ramen and a pork bun or two, the both of you continued your journey. But as the two of you approached, you could tell exactly where you were headed.
“No way...” The way your eyes sparkled at the sight in fron of you made his heart pick up the pace. “I-Is this the Sakura festival?”
“You bet it is! I actually-“ He froze when you wrapped your arms around him, hugging him close to you and whispering a ‘thank you.’ Once you pulled away from him, he could see that a few tears had run down your face, she he carefully moved his hand to cup your cheek while his thumb had moved to get rid of those pesky tears. “Now come on, let’s enjoy the festival.” The softness of his voice made you swoon and since the both of you arrived when the festival had started, you both instantly made your way to the entrance. Now if you were to ask when exactly he had slid his hand into yours and intertwined your guys’ fingers, you wouldn’t be able to say when. It seemed like that’s how it was the whole time, not that either of you were complaining. When he’d softly run his thumb over your finger in an almost comforting manner, or when he’d squeeze tighter whenever the both of you were walking through a particularly crowded area, it all seemed like a natural reflex.
He had watched you eye a specific plushie a good 6 times before suggesting going over to the booth to play the game. It had seemed easy enough, get all four of the plastic rings around the neck of a milk bottle. Oh how wrong you were. You had played three rounds and lost three rounds. He hated seeing the pout on your face when you hadn’t made any points so when the both of you were waiting in line for some taiyaki he said he had to go to the bathroom and went off. You didn’t think much of it, too busy mourning over the loss of your desired plushie.
Meanwhile, Toshi had gone back to the booth to try and win the game. So far, he was four rounds in and still hadn’t made enough points. Just as he was going to give up, the booth attendant gave him a free pass at the game seeing as he had already spent so much money, so this time around he took a different approach. Instead of rushing into it, he took his time with each toss. So when he had made all four rings, a huge grin split his lips as he pointed out his prize.
“I wonder if he ate some bad shrimp in the yakisoba from earlier.” You mumbled to yourself. Even if you were still waiting in line, there was only two more people in front of you.
“Hey (y/n)!” You turned to the source of the shout and your jaw dropped. There stood Toshi with the cute squid plushie you wanted.
“Seriously? You won this for me?” He could see the way the tears in your eyes shone in the low light of the booth lights but you were far from sad. There was a genuine smile on your face as he nodded and held it out to you. He watched as you grabbed it and hugged it close to your chest. His chest filling with warmth as you nuzzled into the soft fabric of the squid.
With taiyaki, milk tea, and squid plush in hand, the both of you looked for a place to settle on the grass and get ready for the fireworks show to end the night. The both of you had settled against a tree trunk, sitting side by side. Shinso had grabbed your legs and rested them over his. Subconsciously running his hand over your knee as he munched on his taiyaki.
The both of you chatted as you waited for the show to start but as time went on, the colder the summer breeze got. He noticed that you were shivering quite a bit so he softly shoved your legs off of his lap and opened his arms. Your confusion was quelled when you saw his open arms, you ungracefully fell into his chest and wrapped your arms around his waist to absorb all the warmth he had to offer. He just chuckled and shook his head while holding you tight, rubbing your back in small circled to generate as much warmth as he could. He tried not to think about how you felt while pushed up against him, how he could just lean down and place a kiss on the top of your head.
Sadly, this hadn’t lasted very long. The moment the fireworks started you had sat up to be able to watch them clearly. As much as he wanted to watch the fireworks display, the ‘oohs’ and ‘ahhs’ from the crowd enticing him to look, he just couldn’t tear his eyes from you. The way the explosions in the sky lit up your face, the pink tint on the apples of your cheeks and your nose, the way your eyes were wide with wonder, and the way your lips were curled up into a little smile. You were way more breathtaking than any firework could ever be.
“(Y/n)?” You tore your eyes from the glittering lights and turned towards him, blush painting your cheeks an even darker red when he was closer than you expected. Both his hands came up to hold your face, the pads of his thumb gently running over your cheeks. “Can I-.” He swallowed nervously, leaning in close enough to where your noses were touching. “Can I kiss you?” The fact that he even asked made you giggle.
“Of course you can, silly.”
Once he got the ‘okay’, he tilted his head a bit and brought you closer, your lips meeting his in the sweetest and softest ways possible. Your lips moving in sync as the taste of chocolate still lingered on your tongues.
“Mmm I knew you’d taste sweet.” He chuckled once the two of you pulled away.
“Oh yeah, how sweet?”
“I’d have to say sugary sweet but maybe even sweeter than sugar. I’d have to get a second taste to know for sure.” He shrugged innocently. You fondly shook your head, a squeak of surprise when he pulled you onto his lap. His hands were holding your hips while your arms wrapped around his shoulders, your fingers fiddling with the ends of his gravity defying hair.
“Happy birthday (y/n)...” you bit your lip to hold back your smile before releasing it and diving into another dizzying kiss.
Best. Birthday. Ever.

hello! i've recently stumbled across your works and i really love your characterization and writing uwu if it's not too much, is it okay for me to request for a scenario where some actors accidentally found out that their director is actually good dancer? like maybe somebody was watching tv and 'hey doesn't that backup dancer look familiar?' ((you can decide on whoever finds out about it and you can also choose to use izumi's name or just write mc)) AAAA thank you very much! ଘ(੭*ᵕˋ)੭* ੈ♡
Thank you, dear! 💕 I feel so happy when I read I you guys like it. Sometimes it gets difficult to not fall into OOC!
I opted to choose Izumi, mainly because I don’t think I’ve written anything with her even though I love her so much! As for the actors, well, couldn’t decided wich one so everyone is making an appearance.
Hope you like it! 💕
The dorm discovering Izumi’s dancing skills
“Tenma, hurryyyyy”
“Yeah, yeah... Uh? Hey, who didn’t wash their dishes this morning, it stinks!” the summer leader complained outloud, leaving the kitchen with Misumi with the last chopsticks and glasses to place on the lounge.
Tsuzuru entered and looked at the sink, frowning. Indeed, it smelled awful. He walked towards the couches to get the culprit.
“Itaru-san, don’t ask me why, but I know whatever that was in that plate was yours. Please clean it right now”
“Oh shit, my shield fell”
The man in question was laying next to Kazunari and Banri, all of them most likely playing a battle game, judging by the way they were staring intensely at their phones.
“Itaru-san!”
“Yes, yes, one minute…”
“Dang, Itaroon! You can’t pull something like that to win, I don’t have any more resources!”
Omi put a hand on Tsuzuru’s shoulder when he saw the scriptwriter was about to start scolding them “It’s okay Tsuzuru, we have enough plates. Itaru-san can clean later so dinner doesn’t get cold”
At that moment Juza, Taichi, Muku and Sakuya arrived.
“Ah, Omi-san! After Tenma-kun and Misumi-san finish the table will be set” the cheerily the spring leader informed approaching them.
“At least we get things done quickly, having so many people at Mankai” Tsuzuru smiled tired but gratefully at the four of them “…although it would be quicker if others offered to help from time to time” he looked at the gaming group and a certain pair watching TV.
“Tsuzuru, this program is too important to sip!”
“You mean to skip? Also, I truly don’t think so. That’s one old program you’re watching” he looked around resting his hands on his hips. No one had moved an inch “That indirect was also to the rest of you, you know”
“Noted”
“Aha”
“So you want me to set the table instead of trying to come up for ideas with customes? Fine by me”
Misumi and Tenma entered before an argument could take place “Table’s set. Someone should call Masumi, Sakyo-san and the winter troupe. They were in the practice room with director, right?”
As if by pure summoning, the last spring member arrived, taking off his headphones “…I’m here”
“We are here too!” Tsumugi waved as the rest of the winter troupe entered talking to each other. Their play schedule had been decided and they had had a run through while Izumi and Sakyo discussed the final details for the performance.
“Okay then everyone, time to dig in!”
…………………………..
Everyone sat on their chairs and started moving plates around and refilling glasses with drinks. It wasn’t often, due to the difference in schedules, but some nights the whole dorm got together and opted to eat at the same time. It was a bit of a mess but in the end, everyone had fun.
Citron was still watching silently the TV when he paused it, concerned. Getting up, he headed to the dinner table as everyone ate and talked “Director?”
Izumi looked up, stopping herself from grabbing the delicious tonkatsu in front of her “You called, Citron? Ah, leave the TV and sit, come on. Omi’s food will get cold!” she motioned the chair that was empty.
He did as told, but kept his eyes locked on her “Director I must ask you an important question”
“Uh… ok?”
He nodded as his chopsticks grabbed some rice “Are you maybe a twist?”
Everyone turned to him, confused, but not surprised. The young woman found herself blinking in confusion too “…Twist?”
Masumi nodded in agreement “You can twist my heart anytime you want”
No one even tried to contradict the young boy, still trying to decipher Citron’s meaning.
“I don’t think Citron means twist”
“…Twix”
“Yeah Hyodo sure, Citron meant Twix. I swear your brain is a fucking sugar cube”
“You are sweet like a twix to me, director”
“Ugh, someone tell the Psycho Stalker off”
“Y-yuki-kun!”
“Citron, I don’t think your phrasing is right” Tsumugi laughed as he saw everyone starting to debate.
The foreigner crossed his arms, deep his thought “Mmm… this word is meant to be a clone… of another person! Is it close enough, Tsumugi?”
“C-clone?!” Taichi looked up from his seat, eyes wide open “Director has a clone?!”
“Guys, come on...”
“Mhm… I might be wrong, but maybe Citron meant if our dear director has a twin?”
Citron gasped “Twin, yes! Azuma’s wisdom is as always precise!”
The winter member received the compliment from the blond with a soft laugh as the rest frowned. Sakuya raised his hand from the other side of the table “U-Um! Why do you say that, Citron-san?”
“You have sisters?” Tasuku raised his eyebrows at Izumi.
“Of course not! I’m an only child”
“But that cannot be. I saw you with my two very eyes!”
“Me?”
He nodded seriously, getting up from the chair and turning on the TV again “I will demonstrate now, the director’s clone!”
Izumi sighed. Why couldn’t they have a normal night? Just for once. It was weekday for christ’s sake. The sudden gasps and exclamations brought her back to reality.
“It really looks like Izumi-san!”
“She looks younger though, is it really her?”
“Waaah, director you are moving so beautifully!”
“Wait, seriously?”
Izumi got up and approached the TV screen, concerned for the amount of attention it was getting “Come on, how can I-“
“That is you, isn’t it?” Sakyo pointed the TV with his head.
As everyone came to the realization that it was indeed Izumi. the woman in question stood there, watching her younger self.
“Oh, you meant that!” she sat on the arm of the couch, forgetting dinner and the fact that everybody was still trying to make sense of it. Their director? In TV? “It’s not been that long but... ” she laughed “Might be the one and only time I made it for a play in a performance, come to think of it!”
Kazunari, who was at that point recording the whole situation, turned his phone towards her in awe “I am beyond SHOCK, director! What play? How come we didn’t know you danced so well? Any declarations?”
She pushed the phone away from her, laughing “I did my studies and entered in the dancing club from my university for a change of peace”
“But this amazing choreography? The moves? Not to mention you are totes on TV!”
She looked back at the TV and a smiled appeared. Competing in friendly dancing competitions had been nice at the time “That program shows musicals, right? My university dancing club just happened to want to enter the competition and we decided to do a mute dancing play trying to tell a story without speaking. Forgot it had been recorded then”
Everyone stopped talking and looked at each other.
“…Oh”
“That’s right”
“Director had another life before Mankai…”
“Feels weird to think about it”
Izumi blinked confused. Of course, she had tried to make a life outside of acting! It had been rough, but she had had to come to terms with herself that she had to move on, at the time.
“Ey, ey, director let’s dance too!” Misumi grabbed her by the arm and pulled her to the courtyard. She found herself stumbling to keep up.
“W-whoah, Misumi-kun, we haven’t finished eating!”
He laughed releasing her as he tried to copy what they all had watched “That looked fun! What other dances did you do?”
Izumi laughed at his excitment.
“Well, there was nothing specific…?” she listed a few songs on the top of her head. The rest of the dorm gathered around the frames of the courtyard, watching curiously.
“I also want to see director’s dancing!”
“Anyone has a phone?”
“On it~”
“Enough! Why are you…” Sakyo came out too, ready to start scolding when one of the songs mentioned before started playing and saw Izumi’s bright face.
It was as if some kind of adrenaline had been injected into her, enough to make her body start moving along the music, not a single movement being wasted.
It had been a while.
………………………………
“Oh my, such a stunning view… the turning of grand jetes! If this moment was to be engraved…”
Hisoka frowned next to him “Arisu… you’re too loud. Can’t enjoy it”
“Director… is really good!” Sakuya was practically beaming as he watched Izumi moving around “She looks like a fairy!”
No one there disagreed. Her movements flowed, taking away the breath of every person in that familiar audience. Izumi had never been able to act well, but somehow her dancing expressed more than she could in a play.
Omi smiled at the view and crossed his arms “A pity I left the camera in my room” he looked at his left and saw how Sakyo looked at her.
The blond’s eyes followed her figure entranced, not moving an inch.
A few minutes later, Izumi stopped, breathing heavily after song. She looked up, greeted by a big amount of applause. Were those claps for her? Her cheeks grew hot. She didn’t remember last time she got an applause and smiled bashfully.
“Fufu that was wonderful, Izumi-san”
“Epic. I think I just fell in love all over again, director! Gonna need to post the clip on my instablam!”
“Not bad. I guess currian has another thing she’s good at, uh”
“Well, if we ever have a dancing play, now we know who to ask for notes, isn’t that right, Tsuzuru?”
Taichi gasped in excitement looking at the scriptwriter “Oh man, I definitely want to do a dancing play now, girls would love it!”
Of course, as theatre fanatics as they were, the conversation headed into their future performances.
“Maybe like a musical?”
“But dancing as you act is…”
“I want to do a triangle dance in our play!”
Izumi laughed, gaining everyone’s attention “Okay, okay, this is enough. Let’s go back and finish dinner. Can’t believe you all tricked me to dance in front of you, geez” she still felt her breath uneven from the workout.
“But you did look beautiful out there, director” Tsumugi smiled as he pushed a complaining Taichi and entranced Masumi inside.
Tasuku sighed as he watched everyone returning to their normal behaviors “Well, I guess we must thank you are more an acting addict than a dancer” he sent a small smile to Izumi, placing a hand on her shoulder and going inside to help the adults tame the youngest.
Izumi was about to follow when she heard Sakyo’s voice from behind “You danced well”
“Ah, Sakyo-san, thanks”
He dropped his eyes momentarily before looking at everyone going back to finish dinner inside “…Think you will miss it? Dancing like that”
Izumi lifted her head up and closed her eyes, enjoying the night’s breeze. She had set it aside for so long she hadn’t really been able to think about it.
Dancing to her was like turning back the clock, returning to a previous life that might have been good. However, she had always felt something was missing.
She smiled tenderly. Just thinking about everyone at the dorm made her heart go warm.
“It’s become a good memory to keep”
She tore her gaze away from the night sky to smile at him, assuring him that she was being honest to those words just said.
True. She had loved dancing, but theatre? Ah.
That was her life.

I enjoyed it a lot, hopefully, you guys did too. Have a wonderful day! 💕

SSR Tasuku [Mankai Glitter]: Backstage Translation
Btw, I created a Twitter account that’s purely for translation cause I just realized that I can link post with Tumblr... I’m really bad at Social Media, my bad haha~
Find it here: https://twitter.com/chiakitrs
Summary: Tasuku and his wish to Hello Celestial Sphere
Disclaimer:
A3! is owned by Liber’s Entertainment
To Pisces: Tasuku
Tasuku:
… I’m home.
Tsumugi:
Tasuku, welcome back.
Azuma:
You’re quite late today.
Director:
Would you like to eat something?
It’s more or less the leftover Omi-kun made just now though…
Tasuku:
Nah… It’s alright.
Tsumugi:
…Tasuku, are you feeling tired?
Tasuku:
No, that’s not the case…
Tsumugi:
But, your face deosn’t look so good.
Tasuku:
…
Actually, the guest performance that I’m doing right now has quite an exhausting content.
Today has both afternoon and evening shows, that’s why I look tired more than usual maybe.
Azuma:
It sounds reasonable if Tasuku said that.
Homare:
As expected of Tsumugi-kun, to be able to see it through!
Tsumugi:
I’ve known Tasuku for a very long time after all.
Tasuku:
Well, tomorrow’s the final day, so just one more step to go.
Director:
Please do your best!
Tasuku:
Yeah.
Hisoka:
Tasuku, I’ll give you a marshmallow so get well.
Azuma:
Speaking of which, it will be Tasuku’s birthday soon right.
Guy:
When everything calms down, let’s celebrate it together.
Homare:
Do you have anywhere you want to go?
Tasuku:
…No.
Homare:
Anything’s fine, so just think of something!
Tasuku:
If you say so… I want to eat something delicious.
Azuma:
Something delicious huh… That sounds good.
Tsumugi:
This is Tasuku we’re talking about after all, I thought you’re going to say that you want to watch Soccer or something.
Tasuku:
We won’t end up watching the match together even if we went with these members, I’ll invite Soccer Club for that.
Guy:
You’re right.
Hisoka:
… You know that well.
Tsumugi:
Since we’re going out to eat then, maybe we can consider going somewhere further this time.
Azuma:
If that’s the case, let me check out the stores.
Tasuku:
… Thank you so much.
<Time Skip>
Tasuku:
In the end, I’m still the driver…
Tsumugi:
Would you like me to drive instead?
Director:
Then, as someone who just tagged along with Winter Troupe, let me do it instead!
Tasuku:
Nevermind… I will drive.
Guy:
… You want to change?
Tasuku:
Be that as it may, I will get restless if I don’t drive at all.
It’s alright.
Azuma:
Fufu, so it’s like this in the end.
<End of Part 1>
Azuma:
This is the place.
Tsumugi:
Woah, there are so many people lining up.
Tasuku:
That’s quite a long line.
Director:
It’s a popular store huh.
Azuma:
Don’t worry, I already made a reservation.
Tsumugi:
As expected of Azuma-san, you don’t miss anything.
Azuma:
Fufu, it’s not my nature to keep the guests waiting.
<Shifts to Shop>
Director:
Alright, let’s see… What should I order.
Guy:
There are abundant choices in the menu.
Homare:
With this much choice, I won’t be able to decide what to order!
Tasuku:
The most popular menu here is Tonkatsu huh…
Director:
That looks delicious!
Azuma:
Other than the set meal, the assorted sashimi seems to have a good reputation as well.
Homare:
Since we’re here, let’s order that as well!
Hisoka:
Marshmallow…
Tasuku:
There’s no such thing obviously.
Tsumugi:
No matter where we go, Hisoka-san doesn’t change huh.
Director:
Ahaha…
<Short Time Skip>
Director:
This is so delicious!
Tsumugi:
Just by this, I already understand why there can be a long line outside.
Azuma:
I made a reservation because it’s a popular restaurant, but I guess we hit a jackpot on this store.
Tasuku:
The sashimi is delicious too.
You can see the freshness in every one of them.
Hisoka:
The squid is so juicy.
Homare:
Sounds like it will go well with Japanese Sake.
Azuma:
But, Tasuku’s driving so he can’t drink.
Let’s try to enjoy ourselves without sake today.
Tasuku:
You don’t need to mind me, it’s fine if you want to drink you know.
Director:
Eh? We know you’ll say that but…
Guy:
Then, let me drive on the way back.
That way, Takato can enjoy drinking sake with everyone.
Tasuku:
But, Guy-san won’t be able to drink.
Guy:
Today is Takato’s birthday celebration, so don’t mind it.
Anyway, I feel like driving as well.
Azuma:
Fufu, since Guy already said that, should we order some Japanese Sake.
Tasuku:
…Thank you so much.
<Time Skip>
Homare:
I’m so full.
Director:
The dishes there were really delicious~
Guy:
Yeah. I would like to go again if there’s another chance.
Tasuku:
Even so… I ate too much.
Tasuku:
Tasuku’s still the same.
Homare:
It’s a celebration, I don’t think you need to mind it!
Hisoka:
…Ah.
Director:
Hisoka-san, what happened?
Hisoka:
…This, I forgot about it.
<End of Part 2>
Hisoka:
…This, I forgot about it.
Director:
That is, ‘Hello Celestial Sphere’?
Homare:
You brought it with you before you realized huh.
Azuma:
As expected of Hisoka, you’re thoughtful.
Tsumugi:
This Celestial Sphere, it’s the item that will grant your wish if you make a wish during your birthday…
Hisoka:
Yeah. That’s why, Tasuku… Wish for something.
Tasuku:
With this timing?
Hisoka:
Whatever’s fine.
Tasuku:
Even if you say whatever, it’s not that easy.
Azuma:
Tasuku’s normally very stoic after all, it’s fine to think of a wish from that perspective isn’t it.
Tasuku:
…
You’re right… Then…
Hello, the star of Pisces, I want every food to have zero calory.
[
[
Choice 1: That sounds like Tasuku-san’s wish alright
Director:
That sounds like Tasuku-san’s wish alright.
Azuma:
As expected of Tasuku, you are still worried about the calories even when you’re making your wish.
Tasuku:
I ate too much on the store just now.
Anyway, if all the food becomes zero calory, I can eat without worrying about the intake right.
Hisoka:
Will you eat a lot of marshmallow as well?
Homare:
Hisoka-kun, even if it’s not zero calory, you always eat the marshmallow as much as you want.
Director:
Surely, it sounds good to be able to eat as much as you want without worrying about the calories!
]
]
[
[
Choice 2: Zero calory is dangerous you know!
Director:
But, if all the food becomes zero calory, you won’t be able to get any nutrition!
Azuma:
Fufu, that’s true, Director certainly has a point there.
Tasuku:
In that case, it’s not just calories, I should wish so that I can still get the necessary nutrients as well.
Guy:
I see… If that’s the case, then there should be no problem.
Tsumugi:
Even for Tasuku, that’s such a cute wish to make.
Tasuku:
… I was told to make a wish, so I just said mine honestly.
]
]
Azuma:
Your wish, it will be great if it’s granted.
Director:
Fufu, it will be great if that wish is granted.
Tasuku:
… You’re right.
<Time Skip>
Tasuku:
…Phew.
(I ended up eating a lot yesterday. I tried making the running distance a bit longer, but…
I have to reset the protein balance with food I guess)
<Shifts to Lounge>
Tsumugi:
Tasuku, good morning.
Tasuku:
Yeah, morning.
Tsumugi:
Omi-kun has prepared some hot sandwiches.
Tasuku:
Hot sandwiches?
Tsumugi:
Yeah. He managed to get hold of a hot sandwich maker, and he ended up making a lot of hot sandwich with different ingredients.
Like Ham and Cheese, Teriyaki Chicken and Mayo, Ebi Shrimp and Avocado, there are a lot of them.
Tasuku:
I see, but, I’m thinking of getting rid of protein this morning. I really ate too much yesterday.
Homare:
If that’s the case, then there’s no problem!
The hot sandwich is just putting things together and baking, they are zero calory!
Tasuku:
… What are you talking about?
Homare:
The calories disappear when you put them together and bake them, that’s why it’s 0 calory!
Tsumugi:
Yup yup. Don’t mind it too much, why don’t you try eating it first?
Tasuku:
…
<Shifts to Corridor>
Tasuku:
(I was able to avoid the hot sandwich in the end, but there’s something wrong with Arisugawa. Tsumugi too…)
Hisoka:
Ah, it’s Tasuku.
Would you like to eat this?
Tasuku:
…This marshmallow, why is it crushed?
Hisoka:
Once the marshmallow is crushed, it’s 0 calory.
Tasuku:
What kind of reasoning is that.
Azuma:
Tasuku, how about this donut?
It’s shaped like a zero, same with the calory…
Guy:
If that’s the case, this Baumkuchen with the same shape has 0 calory too.
Tasuku:
!?
Homare:
Don’t you like Baumkuchen!?
If not, I have this bagel as well!
Tsumugi:
These snacks have holes in the middle, so they’re 0 calory too.
Hisoka:
Tasuku, you want marshmallow right?
Tasuku:
No—
(What’s happening here…!?)
<Time Skip, Shifts to Room 204>
Tasuku:
Yawn…
(I saw a terrible dream last night.
When I thought about it, that might be the work of the Celestial Sphere…
… Nah, that’s impossible)
<Shifts to Lounge>
Omi:
Good morning.
Breakfast is ready.
Tasuku:
Yeah, thank you.
Omi:
Alright, I have to prepare the dough…
Tasuku:
What happened?
Omi:
I got a request from Muku, so I’m preparing some donuts for snacks.
Tasuku:
Donuts…?
Omi:
When it’s done, I’ll bring one for you as well.
Tasuku:
… By the way, that donut, it’s not zero calory right?
Omi:
Eh? What are you talking about?
Tasuku:
Nah… It’s nothing.
Forget about it.

11. Waiting P.1
“Philemon seems to enjoy seeing his Wild Cards live on with their lives…”
insp.
Persona 4 Golden X FeMC!Reader
4/25/MON-Evening | Dojima Residence
"Do you even know what you're doing?"
You pay no heed to the incorporeal being as you scored the meat with the knife. The residence doesn't have a lot of cook books, probably because of Dojima's absence and Nanako's proficiency based on eggs, so you decided to wing this recipe and hope for the best.
It wouldn't be as bad if it wasn't for the being criticizing the ingredients and your methods.
"This meat isn't full. I've seen pork plumper than this."
"What is this sauce? Why does it taste so sweet?"
"What is this metal contraption that produces fire?"
The grip on your knife only worsened and you were thankful that your hands were free of marinade. The sounds of the TV droned on, reminding you that Nanako is there, sitting attentively and listening to her surroundings.
With a sigh through your nose, you placed the lunch inside the box in an ordered fashion. The ginger pork on the steamed rice was placed in a way the sauce wouldn't be marred as diced spring onions were sprinkled nicely on the pork. In two cup dividers were cherry tomatoes and leftover potato salad. It wasn't like the tonkatsu that you made before but you feel like you've perfected this recipe.
"Success...!" You congratulated yourself. The dish turned out perfectly!
Izanami hummed beside you, looking over at the lunch. "It looks... Adequate."
You let out a tired groan, something that was noticed by Nanako as she began to question what was wrong.
4/26/TUE-Lunchtime | Classroom
Once the teacher dismissed the class for lunch, you sighed as you patted yourself on the back once more for answering for your friends. It was definitely more painful to have Jiraiya and Tomoe argue over the class's heads as Izanami tried to diffuse the situation. It would've been comical if it wasn't for the fact that you had to focus on the lesson and maintain your grades.
You took out your lunch from your bag and looked around. Yosuke was chatting with one of his friends, Chie was busy trying to discreetly teach Tomoe the basic ethics of today. Maybe you should invite one of them for lunch.
A small shriek broke your trail of thought. You turned your head to see Chie cupping her face in her hands as Tomoe tilted her head to the side. From behind you, Jiraiya laughed at the girl's embarrassment as Yosuke groaned at all three of them.
You remember Kou and Akane from music club and you wondered if they were available.
4/28/THU-After School | Chinese Diner Aiya
You remember going to this restaurant with Daisuke yesterday to talk about Kou and ever since, you’ve wanted to try the Rainy Day Mega Beef Bowl Challenge.
The diner was bustling as usual, the exception were the sounds of defeat of people who fell victim to the 3,000 Yen toll and with the few who triumphed over the well-seasoned meat and pounds of rice. Beside you, sitting on a stool, was Izanami, who watched the old man behind the counter yell orders above the noise.
“Chinese...” Izanami started. “I’ve forgotten the taste of baos that my husband would get me.”
You raised your eyebrow. “You have a husband?”
She nodded, though it seemed like she was unsure. “I... think so. I remember somebody whom I was close to...”
You racked your brain on your Shinto beliefs. With the spare time you had, you picked up the myths about the gods since it seemed important to know who was your partner. Before you could say something, a waiter slammed a giant bowl in front of you.
The legendary beef bowl definitely lived up to its name. The mounds of beef seemed to be endless, the mouth-watering seasoned meat suddenly made you sick. And then you remembered that there was rice underneath the protein hell pile.
You and Izanami blinked owlishly at the beef bowl, the noises in and out of the diner droned to a silent static as you seem to cower at the sight of the king of beef bowls.
This feat will be remembered through eternity.
“Izanami,” you whispered to her as you picked up your chopsticks, “make sure this lives on in the history books.”
You didn’t need to look at her to see her nod solemnly. “You will be remembered as a hero.”
You could feel the dread that the beef bowl gives but it doesn’t stop you from separating your sticks and thank the Aiya for this challenge.
> ...
“The beef bowl...” Izanami gasped. “It feels as though it’s taunting you!”
Her words fell deaf as your stomach bulged from the meat. That’s right. Just meat. You couldn’t even make it to the rice as the mountain of meat defeated your over-confidence. Still, despite the grueling defeat, you seemed to have a deeper understanding on how the beef bowl seems to be, the strategy to win the challenge has been embedded in your knowledge, and your diligence paid off to skim off most of the meat.
“Aiyaaa!” The owner drawled out. “Looks like you failed the challenge! Too bad. That’ll be 3,000 Yen.”
You scowled at the man then the beef bowl. At least the materials you sold to Daidara covered your expenses.
4/29/FRI-Evening | Dojima Residence
“Due to the weekend rainfall, clear skies seem unlikely in the area.”
The reporter continued with the weather as you watched it intently. Izanami sat beside you, Nanako opposite of you in front of the table as Dojima relaxed on the couch. A steaming mug of hot chocolate was in your hands, as you refused to eat anything since you were still full from the beef bowl. You were proud to say that you’ve reached a bit of rice as you felt your stats increase.
“A thick fog is expected tonight and remain until tomorrow morning, with heaviest concentration in the Inaba area. Anyone planning to go out tonight should take care. Now for our hourly weather breakdown...”
“More fog, huh...?” Dojima sighed. “There’s been a lot of that lately. Hopefully it’s not a sign of more trouble.”
You didn’t even need to turn around to see his eyes droop in exhaustion. You focused back on the TV only to notice Nanako holding the remote in her hands and switching the channel.
“Ah-ah-ah.” Dojima tutted. “What did I say about changing the channel without asking?”
Before she could even respond, the TV droned about Junes and it being open for Golden Week. Immediately, Nanako perked up at the commercial, singing the theme song as she seemed excited about the establishment.
Izanami chuckled at her enthusiasm. “She’s so precious.”
“Dad!” Nanako exclaimed. “They’re going to be open during Golden Week!”
He laughed a little. “I heard. Do you want to go somewhere during the long holiday?”
Nanako’s eyes widened as she stood up “We can go somewhere?!”
He smiled at his daughter’s enthusiasm, then turned his head to you. “How about it? Got any plans yet?”
You took a cursory glance at Izanami as she nodded her head eagerly. You nodded at the man. “No plans yet.”
“Then let’s all go together somewhere!” Nanako cheered. “Junes! Junes Junes Junes!”
You giggled at her. You haven’t seen her this happy at all lately.
However, Dojima sighed. “You’re sure you want to go Junes? We can go there anytime...”
“Let her have her fun.” You said. “Not like we can spend all Golden Week in the store.”
“Alright alright...” He relented. “Anyway, time for bed. It’s late.”
Nanako’s smile was wiped off her face when she heard that, but she immediately sprung back to life by singing the Junes theme song.
After Nanako went to bed as you bade Dojima a good night, you changed into your pajamas and went up to your room. You pulled back the curtain and looked out the window. The fog rolled in, making you barely see anything.
“The fog settled in fast.” Izanami remarked. “I know we saved Yukiko but I wonder about what will show tonight.”
You drew back the curtain, staring at the TV with a nervous expression. “Probably nothing, but we can’t be too sure.”
You sat back down on the sofa next to Izanami, heaving out a sigh at the events that happened in the castle. “Yukiko is coming back to school tomorrow so we can ask her about how she even got in there.”
Izanami watched your relaxed expression, turning her head to the TV, then turning her head back to you. “What do you think of what her Persona will be?”
You shrugged lazily. “I don’t know, but I do know that we have to show her the ropes when we have free time.”
“You don’t have to stress yourself over this.” She said softly. “There’s always time for that, you’re still young after all. There’s no shame in backing down.”
You stared at Izanami’s yellow eyes, wondering where that caring attitude came from. You... really don’t know how to respond to that.
Before you could even reply something, the TV turned on by itself. The static noises permeated the room but the screen showed nothing. Then, the TV went silent.
“Well, guess that’s that.” You said, standing up from your sitting position. You, frankly, didn’t want to talk more about the awkward self-care so you dragged yourself to your already made futon and lied down. “Night, Izanami.”
Your Persona didn’t even try to bring back the previous conversation, which you were thankful for. She sighed before settling herself on the sofa. “Night, _____.”
Persona Time
| Amagi Inn |
In the personal room of Yukiko inside the Amagi Inn, the 2nd-year girl stirred in her futon before opening her eyes to the sunlight. She let out a tired groan, feeling like her body went on a triathlon but her mind went through the bar exam. All that training didn’t seem to prepare her for the soreness in her muscles and she didn’t even do anything in the television except watch as her friends get burned.
“I should apologize for causing so much trouble...” She murmured to herself, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.
“O-Oh!” A meek voice gasped in surprise. “Y-You’re awake! Thank g-goodness!”
The voice immediately made Yukiko’s eyes snap open as she sat up and whipped her head to the source of the voice. When her eyes landed on a whole mess of pink, she stiffened.

Bad Habits
A/N: Hey, this is my first oneshot here, this time it’s KawaSara, I hope you enjoy! Also tw for mention of alcohol and smoking.
Beta read by: @kairi-chan :)
Sarada doesn’t think about it the first time she returns home from a date with Kawaki. Their ‘date’ wasn’t even a real date, nothing fancy, no dinner, just Sarada running into him into the corner store on her way home from work. However, spending time with Kawaki means spending time surrounded by cigarette smoke. When she ran into him, he’d been buying a pack of cigs and a bottle of vodka without noticing her at first. She’d called out to him, as he’d been turning the bottle of liquor in his hands with thoughtful eyes, but carefully not to startle him. She didn’t want him to drop the bottle.
“I didn’t see you,” he told her without her asking. Anybody else who wasn’t used to Kawaki’s behavior might have felt insulted, but to Sarada is aloof personality wasn’t new. She knows him well enough not to take everything he says to heart.
“Yeah, I’m just on my way back home from work,” she explained, “It was a long day.” She held up the items in her hands – a sandwich filled with tonkatsu and salad and a can of Calpis. When Kawaki didn’t say anything further, she tacked on. “I see you’re buying alcohol, yes? I take it some of the boys are coming over to your place?”
“Nah, it’s just for me.”
Oh, she thought but didn’t know what to say from there on. Kawaki’s unhealthy habits weren’t new for her, she’s spent enough time with Boruto to understand that. Boruto and his foster brother had been 13 and 15 respectively when the latter arrived home high. Kawaki hadn’t just took a drag on a cigarette, but a joint, his red eyes had been proof for that. Naruto had been mad, Hinata mostly just concerned. Concerned what caused Kawaki to take up drugs, concerned that Boruto and Himawari would do it too. Good for Hinata, that worry never became true. Boruto grew to loathe drugs, whereas Himawari was like sunshine, too kind and good to get tangled up in anything bad.
So no, it didn’t surprise Sarada that the boy would buy himself a bottle of vodka, but it still made her sad. Who likes drinking alcohol alone by themselves?
Lonely people.
“Say…” she began and leaned closer with a gentle smile on her lips, “If I brought my own alcohol and my own snacks, would I be an unwelcome guest in your home tonight?”
His head didn’t even move in her direction as he silently kept his eyes on the row of bottles, all filled with liquor of all kinds. “Do you even like alcohol?” he asked her. “Last I know, you’re daddy’s little girl who doesn’t mingle with the bad boys.”
“Hey, I do like alcohol. I may not like pure vodka, but I do have a certain taste for liquor,” she scoffed. “I happen to like plum wine just fine.”
“Plum wine?” His voice wasn’t loud, but she could hear him disapproving of her choice of alcohol. “You’re not going to drink plum wine at my place.”
Sarada tried very hard not to let her surprise show, but that he’d been alright with her visiting him hadn’t been what she expected. In the end, Kawaki had taken another bottle of rum with him, just for her, because he didn’t want to let her drink plum wine.
His home was curiously impersonal. When he had moved out of the Uzumaki home to go to college, Hinata put up a few ornaments in the apartment to make it look homely, but Kawaki couldn’t have cared less for it. Now the apartment wasn’t unclean, but his shoes were scattered over the ground, there were empty beer cans all over the kitchen counter and an ashtray filled with ash and dirt in the living room. There was a joint next to it, unlit, and Sarada had expected him to smoke it while she was there.
He’d only puffed on his cigarettes though.
Now that she is home, the scent of smoke comes off all her clothes, even her hair, and taking a shower and putting on a different sets of clothes doesn’t erase the smell in the air. Chocho comes out to ask her where she has been and why she is home so late – she stops dead in Sarada’s room, with a scrunched up nose and disapproving facial expression.
“Oh, girl, please don’t tell me you started smoking. I don’t want to share my dorm with someone who smokes!” she exclaims as she looks at her friend.
“No, don’t worry, I wasn’t the one smoking,” Sarada says, trying to calm her down.
“Oh?” Chocho quipped. “Who was smoking then?”
“Kawaki.”
It’s not often that Chocho disapproves of a boy so much. Normally, Chocho is delighted when Sarada talks about any boy – she firmly believes Sarada spends too much time with her nose in books, too occupied to take full advantage of her college life. Going out to bars, the movies, concerts with dates.
Kawaki is a different story though, mostly because of his cold behavior towards outsiders. Plus, his bad habits add up to everything and that results in Chocho’s dislike of him. In their inner social circle, there isn’t another boy she would have preferred less to spend time with Sarada.
“Oh, Sarada, why were you spending time with him? Did you…guys have a date? A real date?” Chocho questions with her hand waving in front of her nose to get rid of the nasty smell.
“If you think eating a sandwich and watching him smoke counts as a date, then yes.”
“Oh, no, that is not a date. A date is when you call someone and you put on nice clothes. That is a date! You two just hung out.”
“Alright, we hung out then,” Sarada replies. Hanging out with Kawaki had been less exciting than she had expected it to be, so she cannot call it a date. It’d been mostly them drinking, him smoking while she ate her sandwich and talked about her day. Nothing fun or exciting, and yet it’s the highlight of her day.
“If you ever hang out with him again, get rid of the smell before you come here, please!” Chocho tells her before leaving her alone again.
Sarada wants to tell her that no one can make Kawaki drop his bad habits.
Days later, Sarada is about to cross the street on her way from class and on her way to work. Her day has been stressful enough with two exams, one following the other. With the first one she has a good feeling, she probably aced that one, but the second one went worse and she cannot judge herself properly. With an angry huff, she blows a strand of hair out of her face and looks up.
At the other side of the street is a dark figure on a motorcycle and the person is watching her. Her instincts tell her to avoid staring at the man, but curiosity takes over and she peeks at him again. He’s tall, broad shoulders covered with a leather jacket – and he’s starting his motorcycle. It comes to life with a roar and it takes him a swift curve to pull up next to her. He looks at her through his helmet and she realizes – this is not a stranger but Kawaki, with his brow piercing and dark stare. Maybe he is only wearing some sort of protective padding beneath his leather jacket and that is why his shoulders appear so broad, bigger than usual.
She gives him an easy smile.
“Do you need directions?” she asks him with a grin. Seeing him again is more entertaining to her than it should have been.
“No. You’re on your way to work. Get on.” It’s not a request, but not a demand either, at least that’s what Sarada sees it as when he talks to her. She knows him well enough to understand that this is an offer that she can take or leave – and she wants to take it, she does.
With all his bad behavior, Sarada knows that Kawaki has never been known to be an unsafe driver and she can only hope that he’s neither high nor drunk. She takes the second helmet that Kawaki offers her and after putting it on with fumbling hands, gets on the bike and embraces him tightly with her arms around his waist. He smells of smoke, but also of leather and after shave. Maybe Chocho won’t be able to sniff him off of her tonight if everything goes well.
Traffic doesn’t allow them to race at high speeds through the streets, but it’s enough to get her to work 30 minutes early.
He lets her off in a narrow street next to the library that she works part time at. Her hair is a bit tousled and she frantically brushes through it with her fingers, but Kawaki’s hair is fluffier than usual. He doesn’t seem to mind or notice it himself though.
“Thank you for the ride, I’m here 30 minutes too early now.”
He only nods before taking out a cigarette from the pocket of his jacket. A quick jerk on the lighter and he’s smoking while keeping his eyes on her. Sarada wishes he wouldn’t have started, but she’s in no place to tell him anything.
“What were you doing there anyway? Are you going somewhere yourself?” Sarada inquires.
“Just wanted to go for a quick ride. Had nothing better to do,” he replies casually.
Feeling a bit hopeful, she asks, “Will you still be free when I get off from work?”
“When will you get off?”
“At around 6.”
Kawaki doesn’t reply, just nods and blows away some more smoke, his head pointedly turned away from her. The smoke doesn’t reach her. She bids him farewell and heads towards work before she can hear the engine of his motorcycle coming to life once more.
And he’s there, hours later, just like he said he would be. Sitting on his motorcycle, its engine running a cigarette between his lips. When Sarada approaches him, he throws it away. She takes the helmet he offers her without words and gets on behind him, her hands holding onto his waist.
This time traffic is less dense and he can race through the streets, Sarada needs to hold onto him more tight. She doesn’t want to fall down, nor does she want to let go. Even through the fabric of his jacket, she can sense his body’s heat, the way his muscles move when he leans into the curves. His abdomen tightens when he goes fast and becomes loose again when they wait at a red light.
He either doesn’t notice Sarada’s hands on his stomach, or he does and he doesn’t care. Either way, she lets go of him when they stop at her place and hops down from the bike. Looking back at Kawaki in his leather, the helmet and on the huge motorcycle, he makes an impressive figure.
“Thanks for driving me!” she laughs. “I am home so much earlier now.”
He nods, but doesn’t say anything. He’s always so quiet.
“Do you want to come in? Or are you busy tonight?”
It takes Kawaki so long to react to her question, she’s sure he didn’t hear her. But with a quick jerk he kills the engine and gets down from the bike. His hair is all tousled and dark and even if Sarada doesn’t say it, it looks good on him.
She makes the way forward, opening the front door and holding it open for him. Once inside, she explains the layout of the dorm to him. “Over there is the bath, at the end of the hall there is Chocho’s room – you better not go in there, she’d be mad – and over there is my room,” she adds with pink cheeks. Being alone with Kawaki in her bedroom has its implications.
“And over there is the door to the balcony, if you want to smoke.”
“Nah, not right now,” is his only reply.
How odd, Sarada thinks. The Kawaki she knows doesn’t miss a minute of smoking. Another memory from today makes its way into her mind again; when he was smoking after dropping her off, he made a point to blow the smoke away from her. And he hadn’t been smoking at all when he had come to pick her up.
She doesn’t mention it though, because it also may just be in her head. So she puts leftovers into the microwave and the two of them eat with occasional comments coming from Sarada.
At about 8 pm, Sarada decides that Kawaki needs to leave because Chocho might return any minute now.
“Thank you for bringing me to work today – and for bringing me home too,” she whispers and it’s the first time today that he gives her an expression other than his neutrally bored face.
“No problem,” he retorts and the his mouth gives off the faintest hint of a smirk. “I had nothing better to do anyway.”
“Yeah, I know you told me so already,” Sarada pouts. “Saying things like that isn’t very nice, you know?”
This time, he smirks properly. Kawaki leans in and his lips brush past Sarada’s within a heartbeat. He’s surprisingly soft, no stubble on his chin as far as she can make out – so he must have shaved today. Despite his cool demeanor, Sarada feels hot all over, her heart beating in her chest with a frantic rhythm.
She doesn’t get a second kiss that evening. He leaves right after that and she watches his motorcycle disappear into the traffic on his way downtown.
This time, when Chocho returns home, she doesn’t complain about his smell, and neither can Sarada anymore.

Surprising lack of images to go along with this post. Turns out, when one is shopping, one forgets to document for posterity. Don’t you worry, I’m similarly irritated with myself. That being said, we have an interesting and different day in Korea. There’s a moment when you’re getting to the end of your trip, you’ve hit your highlights and are like…what else is there to do? Don’t get me wrong, we knew there was tons of stuff left to do, even now there are things on our to-do list we kick ourselves for not getting to either due to distance, forgetfulness, or simple ignorance. So…we wing it. And end up having a really great day…including meeting future Mr. Stephanie, my very own Milk Tea Coffee Prince.
First off, let me say, you’re going to wander around these posts and say, “Why didn’t you go here, or you forgot to go there.” Undeniably true. One of the places of note that’s on a lot of people’s list and was on ours as it looks incredible was Ihwa Mural Village. Let’s just say it now, we didn’t go. We planned on it, things happened, I did more research and found out the people who live there? Turns out a good portion of them actually hate what they are known for. Hate the fact that these murals have turned where they live into a tourist attraction. To the point where some of the murals have been painted over in an attempt to stop the buzz.
It made me feel really off about going. So we right or wrong, we didn’t go. But we still got our mural on. In my research, I found another, lesser-known mural village known as Ant Villiage who put up their own murals once upon a time in an attempt to do what Ihwa is fighting against. It wasn’t as successful as they wanted it to be, and in the end, the murals have fallen into age and disrepair.
Which for SaraG and I, made it that much more of a lure.
No, for real! On our date we were going to go to the remains of an abandoned amusement park where you can wander the property, viewing the broken relics of the past. Sounds amazing. Unfortunately, it also seems like it was far away and hard to get to and by then? I hate to say it, my super adventurous spirit was weary. Yes, this remains high on the list of things I kick myself about now. Heads up whoever goes with me next. We’re going. Get over it, it’s happening.
So all these things we didn’t do, perhaps I should, I don’t know, tell you what we did do? Because it was a lot.
Remember SaraG and her pink hair? Well, fun SaraG fact? Hair color will not stay in her hair. At all. Throughout our stay, her hair turned from vibrant shocking pink to a soft pastel. It was fun to see the change. We woke up this morning, and SaraG decided she wanted to go and get a haircut and I decided it would be hilarious to watch her get a haircut in Korea. Spoiler alert? It was a lot of fun. This, of course, means we needed to find a place to get this done. Not only did we have to find a hairdresser, but we had to find one that was open, which in the morning hours of South Korea? Not as easy as one would think.
We had a plan! Coffee! (For me, SaraG doesn’t do coffee.) Breakfast! Hair! Ant Villiage! …….something else TBD!
Getting dressed in our newest finery, purchased from the streets of South Korea itself, we hit the streets after the usual, Egg, Passport, Wallet, Phone, Key check. All in place? Yes? Let’s go! We hit the streets, eyes to the second floors of buildings where the non-shopping, non-coffee shop businesses all seemed to live, looking for anything that looked like a place that might cut hair.
Towards the end of our street, before we hit the main fairway, we made the fateful decision to stop into a particular coffee shop we passed by every day on our way to…everything. One we’d never been in before (another thing I will always regret). We’ve been here for a week now. A WEEK. And we’ve only ever chosen to go to the slow coffee ahjussi up the street. Why am I so worked up over a coffee shop? Well, this was when I walked in and I found him. Future Mr. Stephanie. My Milk Tea Coffee Prince.
He worked the small shop by himself, with a helpful, awkward, and yet inviting smile. He wore a white button-up shirt with his dark hair. He was lovely. I know I said this a lot, but it was literally a fanfic or drama moment come to life. Its almost as if he had a glow filter shining above him.
We ordered our coffee and tea while I tried to take a picture without appearing creepy, knowing later I would need photographic evidence. Unfortunately, I can’t do anything without appearing creepy and awkward, so the photo was pretty much a fail. But the coffees were terrific.
Le Sigh, my beautiful coffee prince.
As much as I would have liked to have whipped out my computer and sat there to work the rest of the day, i.e., sat there writing moody fanfic with him as my lead, we had a mission and a plan. Coffees at the ready, a reluctant goodbye to Future Mr. Stephanie, and we were off.
Following the route Leila, Alix and I had taken the previous day, we walked through the quiet streets of Hongdae, on the hunt for a hair place. And then, across the street from this weird pirate boat-shaped building, we found it. Not only were they open, but they had an appointment right then! So, SaraG filed her things into a locker, I found a seat within eyeshot of my friend and the people coming at her with scissors and sat to FB chat with Thea who was very excited about the whole experience. A guy was sitting next to me, who was apparently with the guy who was getting his hair cut in the chair across from Sara’s, kept smiling at me and telling me it wouldn’t be too much longer and I could have a turn. Dude. I have curly hair. One does not trust randos with curly hair. It’s just not done. SaraG will tell you she had two ladies working on her, one who was doing the cut and another, we guessed an apprentice, who watched, periodically gently brushing the hair away from SaraG’s face with a broad brush.
Interesting. Before too much longer, she was done! Come on everyone, doesn’t this hair look great?
Not only did SaraG come out with a great new haircut, but she also managed to find us a bathroom. Winners all around.
Once we were done, we decided it was time to show her haircut off to the world, and when I mean the world, I mean Ant Villiage. But first? Some sustenance! My new favorite food in Korea turns out was tonkatsu. I was there for two weeks, I ate it three times. Although, if we’re counting, I ate triangle kimbap like 13, so maybe that’s the food winner of the trip.
We hopped a bus and rode our way to the base of the mountain before following the road up, up, up, realizing we took a wrong turn, went down, down down, took the left that took us through a building (yes, this was on the map) and then headed up, up, up again. Man! Our butts had better look fantastic after all of these stairs we’ve done.
Of course, we’d probably have to stop eating hoteok and street waffles for that to happen, so probably not. One time, as we were trudging upwards, we were lapped by a bus, which made us realize there WAS a bus service up this vertical climb to death and kicked ourselves.
BURN.
Finally, we reached a village, that was hit hard by age and poverty. There were murals on the wall, you could see where someone had once cared, some places still tried to care, but it had a tired age to it. Somehow, this is not the Korea you see in Kdrama, not even with our saddest attic cat heroines. But it’s a reality that exists everywhere, and it was good to see it. We wandered the streets, looking at the paintings. Looking at the buildings patched together with bits of other buildings. Even here we were able to find a clean public bathroom and people who smiled and nodded to us.
The bus that passed us came back as we were getting ready to leave and we considered catching it but decided no, we’d come this far, by fudge we were going to walk back down. Stephanie and SaraG are no quitters!
Walking back down to the subway, we decided to catch a train towards another shopping area that the guidebooks had mentioned. We’d decided we had so much fun the day before poking and wandering, that we wanted to give it another go. This time we were in the large buildings of the fashion district, which was actually stall upon stall, floor upon floor of clothing sellers. Or, actually, sellers of everything you could think of. Knowing we’d already purchased more than would fit into our bags, we’d been on the lookout for a new bag to take home with us. We found it here in matching overnight bags, sold to us by an old man with rows and piles of various bags. While I believe on sight, Ms. Alix dubbed it a grandma bag, I love it and use it to this day.
The number of stalls just piled high with clothing was both amazing and overwhelming. The ahjummas who ran them mostly sat in bunches, eating or chatting to one another. Some of them talking to their friends/competitors across the piles. Many of them crouched in front of tiny TVs as they watched whatever drama was on. Some stalls were neatly organized, with sizes and a small variety of neatly cared for inventory, but for the most part? It was like a clothing free for all. Think your bed on laundry day. We had a fun time wandering through digging our way through piles, some of the saleswomen engaging, trying to get us to purchase, but most of them? They pretty much ignored us, we were tourists and not really welcome. This sounds like it’s a bad deal, but it’s not. We couldn’t communicate with them. A lot of the ladies were older, and to them, yeah, we probably were nuisances who were there just to look and not buy. We watched them as they went about their own lives, and we were not part of it. It was reality.
It was also overwhelming, and after about 2 buildings, I burnt out pretty fast. Luckily SaraG was good to go too, and we headed out.
From here we were not sure as to where to go next. We walked the Cheonggyecheon stream for a short time, the sounds of the stream and the people chilling beside it a reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the buildings below. After some discussion, we decided to head back to Insadong and found our way back to the subway station. But not before a stop off at another one of the National Treasures. You know, popping by as one does. This is Heunginjimun Gate, the east gate of the Seoul City Wall. Just as impressive as it’s sister gate and it’s not at all irritated it has to share the top National Treasure spot with it. (Come on, I think these are probably worthy of their own, separate entries.)
Moving onwards, the path to Insadong was not quite as successful as other ones I’d lead us on, and we missed our stop by…a bunch and ended up coming back above ground at the Sejongno, Gwanghwamun Plaza. Which, for me, was perfect! Previously, I’d regretted that I hadn’t had a chance to see the two iconic statues up close, not through a dirty bus window. Luckily, SaraG was a trooper, and at my “Can we, please?” Was totally cool heading up there.
Interesting, as we walked up, we passed a Trump protest, or a shaming the Korean government for working with Trump protest. It was an interesting thing to experience as an American.
The statues were incredibly impressive as we looked at them in person. Your tv screen can’t really do them justice, especially with the background of modern technology, the places. It had an old meets new feel — which was fitting for this particular king.
One thing I do have to say is there was a large structure in front of the King Sejong statue, so you couldn’t really get a great straight-on shot. First, we thought it was for a certain event, but realized, nope, that shit was permanent. Hmmm… Seems like someone should have thought that stuff out in advance.
Once we got to the statue, we realized that there was actually a museum down beneath it. Sure, why not?
Underneath, we were pretty much the only ones there. We looked around, got a chance to sit on a throne replica, and learned about all the things King Sejong The Great did during his reign.
Spoiler alert? A lot! He was definitely one of those famed renaissance men, with varied skills and interests, or knew how to get the best from the skilled and interested people around him. Total Sungkyungkwan Scandal feels.
Heading back above ground, we continued our hunt for Insadong, which we knew was between the two palaces, but noting our luck finding the right palaces, this wasn’t as much of a slam dunk as you would think. We meandered the streets, dodging people who were busy about their day, just poking around….until we had the second most amazing moment of the day. (Remember our Milk Tea Coffee Prince?)
We’re wandering the streets, then suddenly looked up and, in the middle of this big city found a temple celebrating the lantern festival. It was actually a famous temple which was heavily listed on a lot of to-do lists, but here we are, whoops, there it is. It felt as if all of the temples we’d seen so far, in their various states of readiness had all been building up to this point. This quiet little nook in the big city, covered in lights. Respectful as there was a service going on, we ducked inside and took it all in. There was the main temple with a gate and a few outbuildings. A tree, it’s branches hidden by lanterns, covering it all.
It was beautiful. It was again one of those moments where it seemed like time just slowed down. A reward for our day. Amazing what a wrong subway stop, a wrong turn after a long day will get you.
After soaking in our fill, we continued on our way, even more, determined to find Insadong. And we did! We meandered the streets, finding some cute shops where, surprisingly, not only did SaraG find clothing to purchase, so did I! And on sale too!
Our stomachs told us it was time to find some food and we put our adventurer shoes on again, headed down the tiny alleyways, knowing we were doing our previous tour guide, Gloria proud, we found the more traditional section, peered into a restaurant, and jumped in. We chose a ‘set’ and some makkoli and waited. I loved the idea of a set (a pre-chosen menu) as I’d seen it in dramas several times. Ours was a small set, but you wouldn’t know it from the table full of food they placed before us.
We took turns trying everything, tiny dabs of all sorts of different foods, some we’d had before and some unfamiliar. It was a pretty great experience and, after that and much makkoli… Stephanie was a little tipsi.
Just a little.
Turns out, SaraG doesn’t love makkoli and who am I to let a bottle we paid for go to waste? The New Englander in me couldn’t let that stand.
Once we were done, we continued about our way on the streets, watching a non-Hongdae busker playing the violin. It was lovely. Tipsi Stephanie was very appreciative.
Deciding we’d had enough adventure for the day, we decided to head home. Though not before another trip to Hongdae for some chocolaty patbingsu.
Mmmmmm Tipsi Stephanie Likes.
Korean Adventure Day Thirteen: Milk Tea Coffee Prince Surprising lack of images to go along with this post. Turns out, when one is shopping, one forgets to document for posterity.

REQUESTED: “tsundere” [stray kids: felix]
genre: fluff + high school/badboy concept
ficstyle: bulletpoints
anon asked: for any written pieces with FELIX from STRAY KIDS
note: inspired by some song on YouTube but I forgot what it was called bc it was a different language
SNAP
someone put the front camera on their phone and took a picture of you
before you yell at them, they scurried away
you didn’t think too much of it
but then?
you gathered a lot of uwanted attention
on your way to class someone bumped into you a little too hard
they snickered as you adjusted yourself and continued walking
there was a crowd around the school’s bulletin board
you pushed people aside to see what the whole deal was
there were flyers of your face plastered all over the board
(CAUTION) it read with your face inside of a hazard sign
you ripped them off the board and threw them in the trash
“CAUTION CAUTION Y/N IS ON THE LOOSE!!”
everyone starts laughing and you knew who that voice belonged to
“LEE FELIX WHAT THE HECK!! WHAT IS THE MEANING TO ALL OF THIS!!!” you threw the remaining flyers in his face
he scoffs and cracks his neck
“there doesn’t need to be a meaning to any of this” he kicks the flyers left on the ground and his friends follow behind him laughing
a tear escaped at the corner of your eye but you quickly wiped it away
you weren’t sad, in fact you were fairly mad
mama didn’t raise no biscuit(ch)
you ran off to class
the sound of your footsteps made Felix turn around
(was I too much?) he thought as his friends kept on laughing about you
you were glad school was over
running out to the bike rack to find your bike
when you found it, none of the wheels were intact
you spotted Felix and his friends talking amongst each other
you picked up what’s left of your bike and walked over there
CRASH
you threw the bike right in front of them
“you are all trash!” you scowled as you hastily walked away
“I’m what?”
“what? is your hearing all messed up too? I SAID. YOU. ARE. TRASH.”
with that you walked away
his friends tried to chase after you but Felix stopped them
“let her be”
on your way home, you didn’t understand why he was just being mean all of a sudden
usually Felix didn’t even bother with you; or frankly it was like he didn’t even know who you were up until now
why would a popular kid like him mess with someone like you?
it was like that for the next few days
you began to get used to his little shenanigans but you were sick of it
this morning, you saw your bike WITH WHEELS INTACT hooked up to the bike rack, with the CAUTION poster on it
“I didn’t wanna keep the wheels anymore, it was all rusty and a waste of space,” Felix said without even looking at you as he passed by you
(hmm.. is he being nice?) you shook your head (Felix? nice? whatta joke)
you liked to eat lunch before people get to the cafeteria because of Felix and his friends
so you were eating your tonkatsu and you were about to reach out for the sauce on the table
but someone grabs it first
it was Felix
you took a deep breath in (no use in trying to ask him for the sauce)
so you were about to take a bite without the sauce
Felix pours sauce across your bite of tonkatsu
“tonkatsu is better with the sauce” he smiled
you didn’t know what he was planning but... it was a nice change
you both heard his friends come in from behind him
Felix pours the whole bottle of sauce onto your plate
he chuckles and his friends are just laughing, “SHE’S GONNA DIE FROM EATING ALL THAT SODIUM”
you were getting annoyed so you got up and threw your food away
(what a waste... it was good too) you walked away as your stomach was growling
you left your last class a little early, since your teacher heard that you haven’t eaten all day
you were a little excited to go home on your bike so you rushed out to the bike rack
Felix was standing there; with a granola bar
“you.. didn’t finish your meal earlier..” he tosses it to you
you catch it, “I’m heading home now.. what are you doing out here.. waiting just to give me this?” you raised the granola bar
“um.. I got kicked out of class..”
you scoffed, “of course you did”
you unchained your bike and got on it
before you rode away, he pulls the bike back
“WHAT ARE YOU-”
“can I sit on the back of your bike before you leave?”
what was going on?
you were sick of this “push & pull” effect going on with Felix
but you just nodded
you rode around the school yard with Felix sitting in the back
he leans the side of his head on your back and it catches you off guard
RRRING
the school bell rings and Felix jolts his head up
once he sees his friends walk out of the doors, he jumps off of the bike and rushes to his friends
he motions you to get going and you do
(why is he so different when he’s around me and his friends..) you thought
Felix clenches his jaws as he see you disappear around the corner
(why am I making things so complicated....) he thinks before he comes in contact with his friends
“hey! so I had a classmate invite y/n to the party tonight! it’s gonna be 10x more fun with her there to tease her haha! she probably looks like a dork even out of her uniform too!!” Friend A laughs
“weren’t you the one that said she was cute?!” Friend B jeers
“if Felix says she’s ugly, than she’s ugly!” Friend A comments back
the rest of the guys are just laughing but Felix felt really bad inside, he hopes that you don’t go to the party
you got a text from a chill classmate, “hey y/n! there’s a party at the class rep’s house tonight. you should definitely go!!” they also sent the address
this was the first time you’ve been invited to anything outside of school projects so you were willing to go
you got all dolled up; you took off your glasses and put on your contacts
you only fixed your brows with pomade and put on waterproof eye makeup
took your hair out of the messy bun that you always sported and took the time to curl it into waves and whipped it up in a half up/half down ponytail
you slipped into navy bodycon dress; thought it was too much skin so you wore black mesh oversized but cropped long sleeve that went off your shoulder
wore white platform sneakers because you wanted something you could easily run in just in case something happened
with that, you went to the address of the party
you could hear the music booming as you walked up to the house
the classmate that invited you ran up to you
“Y/N??? IS THAT YOU??”
you gathered lots of looks and started to hear murmurs
“ye-yeah... it’s me... do I look weird?”
your classmate shook her head, “NO WAY! YOU LOOK GOOD!! WOW!!”
she told you to go look around and she’ll bring you a drink
you nodded and walked out to where the pool was
it was getting stuffy inside and a lot of people were looking at you
you bumped into someone
“hey watch where your going!” they turned around and their jaws dropped
“whoa... y/n?” Felix’s friend A moves in a little too close to your liking
“what do you want...”
he slings his arm over your shoulders, “HEY FELIX LOOK WHO CAME TO THE PARTY!!”
across the pool, Felix turns his head to see you and Friend A
not baring the sight of the two of you together Felix rushes over AS CALMLY AS POSSIBLE BC HE DOESN’T WANNA CAUSE A SCENE
Felix pulls you away from Friend A, “what’s with this get up? who’re you trynna impress?”
Felix is looking deeply into your eyes
Friend A puts his arms around your shoulders again, “let’s go have fun, y/n”
before you could answer, Felix pushes him
“what do you think you’re doing buddy?”
Friend A pushes him back
“you said you weren’t even interested in her, so what’s your problem?”
his push makes you lose your balance and you begin to lean over the pool
with quick reflexes, Felix grabs your hands and you grab on
in the split second, your hand slips
you thought you were going to fall back into the pool by yourself
but Felix grabs you and puts an arm around you and a hand over your head so you wouldn’t hurt yourself
SPLASH
both of you fall into the pool
luckily it was only at the 3 ft end of the pool
“are you okay?!” Felix checks for injuries
and you’re just looking at him like... (I think I’m falling in love with my bully)
you both hear people clapping their hands
“we finally broke tsundere Felix!!’ Friend A gives a high five to your classmate who invited you
“what do you mean?’ you ask
“we knew that Felix likes you but we just didn’t know when he would actually show it so we all placed a be-” your classmate punches Friend A in the stomach
“anyways.. we were just interested to see what was going to happen to the two of you over time and here we are”
Felix gets out of the pool and carries you out of the pool
his face was red but he didn’t deny anything.. more so he didn’t say anything
“I’m leaving..” he left as his friends tried to make him stay but he brushed them off
you didn’t know what to say or do
your classmate took you home that night and you were left in bed of how to even act around Felix anymore
THE NEXT MORNING
you walk past the bulletin board to see another CAUTION flyer
(again? I thought these would be gone by now!)
you were about to rip it off
BAM
you see a hand covering the poster
when they lifted it off, the word “I’M IN LOVE” was placed under “CAUTION”
you turned around to see Felix
“all this time.. my friends were teasing me because they noticed that I’ve been looking at you a lot in class.... they started saying stuff like how cute you were and I didn’t want them to like you... so I started all of this.. I didn’t think about your feelings... I’m sorry.. I just didn’t want to share you with anyone else... but I don’t know how to-”
you cut him off with a peck on his cheek
“the one thing you should’ve done was not be a jerk.. but it’s okay.. since the feelings are mutual...”
you held both straps of your backpack and started walking to class
“wa-wait you said it was mutual? wait y/n come back!!”

BTS Run 36 - The Jin Harem
This is late by a few days but I finally sat my ass down to write it :D
Let’s begin~
We start it off with JINMIN!
It’s weird to see them without any distinct height difference...
STOP SLOUCHING JIN!
These 2 sure are sticking close to each other
DAMN, why do they both look so tiny?
Jin? TINY?
A concept I like
Jinnie light tapping Chim while he was explaining to Hobi
Was the tap really necessary?
WAS IT?
Yes, Yes it was.
Look at how SMUG Tae looks
Jin was saying how he remembers Tae’s amazing Decorating/Plating skills
Proud Bub Tae is Proud
Really? They HAD to stick so close?
Well, I’m not complaining
Namjin leaning back to let Yoonmin take the paper
Their matching look as the two Smols stretch out for the teams
:’)
Tols looking smug at the smols
Firstly, Joon yawns
LET THEM REST PLEASE
WELL WELL WELL
WHAT DO WWE HAVE HERE?
Why it’s a yawning Jin!
I’m no expert in psychology but I have read that yawns are contagious
BUT only when the influenced saw it.
So... Jin’s been looking at Joon huh?
Namjin’s hands
👀
Subtle but DAMN powerful
WE SEE EVERYTHING
ESPECIALLY LITTLE TOUCHES
NAMJIN YOU GUYS AIN’T SLICK
Wait...
Before:
After:
Joon just teleported beside Jin???
Wasn’t he between Yoongi and Tae?
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Sneaky Sneaky
Chim feeding Jinnie Ft. Envious looking Hobi
I’d do ANYTHING to be able to feed Jin
ANYTHING
Tae rubbing Jin’s arms and shoulders
DAMN TAE! REALLY? In front of all that kimchi?
(1 on of you said you liked the salad meme so... SHOUTOUT TO THAT 1 PERSON. To the rest of you? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )
(One day i’ll insert a meme that’ll make all of you laugh.)
(But it is NOT TODAY)
Look how happy Taebub is!
ANYONE would be that happy with their hands on Worldwide Handsome-nim!
2SEOK 5!
Joonie: 내가 웃는게 웃는게 아니야 (It’s lyrics from a Lessang song called ‘I’m not laughing’)
He even did that ‘head tilt’ thing to show his doubt/hesitance
The domesticity is so overwhelming
LOVE IT
You guys...
There’s PLENTY of space around...
There is 0 need for y’all to stick together like glue...
Kind Chef-nim teaches the opponent team the proper technique but...
JK: Not watching/listening at all Hobi: Too busy joking around like the happy bub he is Chim: Too busy laughing at the happy bub’s joke
Pretty sure I’ve mentioned this already but
I LOVE NAMJIN
Hobi and his Glib tongue~
Guys. THE KITCHEN IS HUGE
THERE IS NO NEED TO BE SO CLOSE TO ONE ANOTHER...
Also, Jin teaching Tae ‘basics’ to cooking
Tae: *caught in a wtf*
Joonie at the side is VERY impressed with Jin’s tips on cooking though
Someone wants Chef-nim’s attention too huh?
I guess even monkeys fall from trees...
(It’s a Chinese saying...I THINK Yes, I know Mandarin)
Meaning: Even the best makes some mistakes
But... why does this look so familiar...
Flashback to Bon Voyage Season 2 Episode 4...
JOONIE DID THe SAMe THING
Except Joon isn’t a monkey falling out of a tree
He’s more like a fish
Way out if his depth back then
Pouty Chef-nim~
It’s ok! I’m sure sesame seeds won't affect the taste too much! Besides, you can always just take them out!
Dumb and Dumber
Arguing about something insignificant
That’s what couples tend to do right?
Also, JIN! Why would you asked Joonie about a sense of length when he gave you ‘3cm’ spring onions that were practically uncut and at least 25cm long???
Namjin are definitely connected to onions
Every time there’s an onion, Namjin will most likely occur
ONIONS ARE A NAMJIN THING
The way Jin just wordlessly takes it from Joon to demonstrate how to cut it
:’)
DOMESTIC AF
FOND!!!
Jin literally had 0 reaction when Yoongi and Hobi were fussing about the ‘taste of Japan’
BUT when Joonie joined in, Jin’s fond smile just
:’)
HE TURNED TO JOONIE!
YOU CAN’T SAY HE AIN’T FOND OF THE BUB!
Hobi fooling around once again
Poking Jin when Chim asked for ‘Jin soy sauce’
Pokes are cute :)))
Pouting and heartbroken Jinnie at Chim’s ‘I don’t need him’
CHIM U LIAR
YOU KNOW YOU WANT HIM
WE ALL DO (Know and want him)
Jin sees Joonie chopping up the onions
Jin is processing what he is seeing
Jin finished processing the scene
Jin lets out a shout at Joonie
Joonie thinks as he looks at Jin ‘What have I done?’
Jin is so done
Jin nagging at how Joonie didn’t follow his instructions
HAHAHAH
I LOVE IT when he just talks so fast and rant XD
Joonie tries winning back the favour of Chef-nim by being funny and cute with the other half of the onion he has left
IT WORKED!
Jin busy prepping his glass noodles but doesn’t forget to chip in how ‘Taehyung LOVES Tonkatsu’
Jin really thinks of Tae huh?
First the plating compliment and now he brings up how they are making food that is loved by Tae
Tae IS SO LOVED
This is the ‘pro at plating’ (by plating I mean plate selection... NOT actual plating of food)
In the background, You can see Namjin talking~
Joonie pops up SO QUICKLY at the request of Jin!
WHEN WILL I GET THIS DRAMA?
I NEED IT
NAMJIN ARE PERFECT ROM COM
Joonie ONCE AGAIN arrives immediately at the calling of Jin!
Ok. I’m not a great cook. I may not know much about proper cooking techniques and all
But like WHY TF would you just use your hands to drain something that was just boiled?
IQ148 my ass
Joonie turns into a fool in front of Jin
He already dipped his fingers in once and knew its hot
BUT because Jin reassured him that it isn’t he just put his hand in again...
BOY YOU A FOOL FOR LOVE
Joonie: The things I do for love...
I think Jin cursed???
His audio was cut off after he said ‘hot’...
And Joon laughed...
Foul Mouthed Jin is cute
This post is just turning into a Namjon Galore...
Joonie in disbelief at how Jin IGNORED his advise for their dish
I mean... can you blame Jin?
I need a better angle for this moment...
Preferably a front angle...
It’s for research purposes...
Chim responding to Jin’s comment from across the kitchen, in the midst of his busy cooking
This is Kim Namjoon MOCKING Tae for asking if he could cook rice in the baking oven
This is Kim Namjoon CHANGING TUNE after Jin said Tae could
Namjoon... You whipped man
Joonie having a bite at Jin’s ‘failed’ work
I WANT A NAMJIN ROM COM GDI!!!
Did Jin just ‘Fall for Namjoon’?
DID HE?
As if he hasn’t already
AWWW
Precious bub showing off his Heart sausage to chef-nim!
HOW IS HE SO ADORABLE???
It worked on Jin!
Look how brightly he is smiling at Hobi’s antics!
Meanwhile Joonie...
Joonie: HOW DARE YOU IN FRONT OF ALL OUR KIMCHI DISHES
I LOVE THEM
T^T
Nyam Nyam (read this in Yoongi’s tone back in the chuseok run ep)
Jin accurately guesses what Joon did to ‘stir fry’ the noodles
They are too much for my heart
Look at these 2 cuties huddled over a bowl of piping hot noodles and mixing it
It’s painful but they still have smiles on their faces
Why?
Because they have each other
How much do you need for a ‘taste’?
Like that’s a huge ass mouthful...
Character development is having Joonie point the scissors in your direction and cutting something from your hands when in the previous episode you did NOT want him with scissors anywhere near you
I DON’T GET IT
HOW DO PEOPLE NOT SHIP NAMJIN???
Stay close you two
STAY REAAAAAL CLOSE
I laughed too hard at this
NGL it looks kinda good
MATCHING Taejin, Yoonjin, and Namjin
Team ‘we have the 2 worst cooks but we made it work’
SO much space but They just want to be right next to each other~
This time it’s Yoonjin sticking together huh?
Jinnie laughing at Tae’s cute mistake at speaking~
Tae: At the end of the day, I got you to look my way so who’s the real winner?
Namjin eye contact while Jin is leaning into Yoongi
Bless this frame for giving us BOTH namjin and Yoonjin
Ok so let’s break this down
Jin is standing between Tae and Joon
So it makes sense for their hands to be around him
Tae Goes for the Worldwide shoulders
Joonie goes for the waist and back
But...there’s ANOTHER hand
It’s none other than Yoongi who is standing ACROSS from Jin...
Logically speaking, Yoongi’s hand should be around Joon and Tae...
But it’s around Jin’s WAIST instead...
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Tae has his hands on those Worldwide shoulders AGAIN
FINALLY some jinkook-ish moments!
Both of them huddling over food
THEY LOOK SO ALIKE

Jinkook: In food we unite
Literally everyone has stopped munching but jinkook...
They LOVE their food
Ahhh now Chim is sticking close to Jin
HE IS SO FOND OF CHIM
THE DOTING LOOK HE HAS FOR CHIM
I LOVE THEM
Their hands...
awfully close ain’t it?
In my honest opinon, this episode seemed a bit dry compared to the other episodes... The idea seemed re-used but I guess we were jsut too overfed recently ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
There weren’t as much jin harem moments (except for namjin though, bless namjin) BUT we still got a decent amount so I’m glad ^^
Hope you guys enjoyed~
Until Next time~

Chapter 9.
~Yuna's P.o.V~
Since the other nights talk with Taehyung, it's become a bit weird with him but my relationship with all the other members has improved. We are all becoming such fast friends. Even though I feel bad about telling Taehyung to slow down, he seems very understanding. Since coming to Korea, I haven't been interested in relationships and really haven't had the time. Taehyung is the first person that has gone out of his way to talk to me and get me to be his and I guess I got scared. He's very sure of what he wants when I haven't really even had time to know myself. I'm afraid to know people after a lot of the stuff that happened in my life. On a happier note, today is the party. Thinking of so many beautiful people in the same place already made me excited. I called in some specialty Japanese cooks to help me prepare for the party. We have been prepping for 8 hours already. Cooking many course for more that 60 people is troublesome.
"Yuna. Can I help you?" Yoongi oppa asks from the doorway. "Oppa." I say looking up from plating the sushi one of the other cooks has been making. "Do you wanna make some tonkatsu?" I ask and he steps inside wearing a long sleeved white shirt with very long sleeves and black jeans. "Oh oppa! You look so swag man!" I say high fiving him. "It is a party." He says with a laugh. "You might wanna take off the shirt. You don't want to get it dirty." I say standing up straight and wiping my hands on a towel. "Chef, platters are ready." I hear to my left. "Let's run them downstairs then." I say pointing to the completed platters of Okonomiyaki and Yakitori. As they start to run the food downstairs the rest of BTS walk in dressed amazingly. "Wah." I mutter looking over everyone. "You guys look like a dream." I say stepping around the island and giving them hugs. I look over at Taehyung and smirk before hugging him. He was wearing black dress pants and a light white and blue long sleeve striped shirt with the first 2 buttons open. "How long until people get here?" "An hour." Namjoon says looking at his watch. "How long till all the dishes are out?" I ask turning to the cook staff. "Am I speaking to myself?!" I say loudly folding my arms. "No Chef!" They yell standing up straight. "How long?!" I ask annoyed. "Scary." Jin mutters. "15 minutes, Chef!" The chef on shabu-shabu calls looking up from the pot. "Thank you. If you were on the line right now, that wouldn't be acceptable." I say stepping away from the boys and towards the cooks. "Yes Chef." They say not wanting to make eye contact with me. "Am I scary?" I ask leaning over the stove and looking at one of the cooks. "No Chef." He says looking up at me. I smile at him. "I don't think so either." I whisper to him before winking making him smile. "Let's go guys, home stretch come on!" I say clapping before turning to Yoongi. "Tonkatsu." I say before stepping around the counter, I look at the guys and they are shaking their heads happily. "What?" I ask innocently making them laugh.
"I'm going to go change." I say watching Yoongi fry more pork. "Okay." He says giving me a thumbs up. "Are you okay?" I ask starting to walk off. "Oh of course!" He says in English giving a thumbs up. "Make sure he's okay." I say to the cooks before walking down my hallway. "Yes chef!" I hear before closing my closet door. I have so many rooms that I turned one into a closet. I don't have that many clothes but its better then to just leave the room empty. "It would be inappropriate to just wear a dress in a room of 50 something guys." I say to myself before grabbing a long black silk skirt and a black long sleeve shirt with gold chains on the shoulders. "Should I wear something colorful? It's not fancy dress..." I say holding the clothes up to myself in the mirror. It's the boys party anyway. I shrug and start to change before grabbing my cosmetics and walking over to the bathroom. I take off my glasses and put on my contacts before doing my eyeliner and my CC Cream. I do a quick gradient lip before rushing back to my closet and grabbing earrings and a thin gold necklace. "I think this is ok." I say before shrugging. Hopefully I look decent enough. I walk out to my living room and smile as the cooks faces light up. "Wow Chef!" They cheer, "Don't lie." I say before laughing. "You look amazing!" One of the cooks says clapping. Yoongi looks up at me and smiles widely closing his eyes. "Wow. You look so great!" He says before taking out some frying tonkatsu. He walks over to me and holds his hand out. "Do a twirl." I grab his hand and spin around. "Wah!" He says with a laugh. I look around the room and the rest of the guys were gone. In my heart I was a little depressed knowing that Taehyung didn't see me. He didn't even wait to see me. "Where'd the other guys go?" I ask him finishing my twirl. "Seventeen showed up so they went downstairs." "Ahhhh." I say nodding before letting his hand go and walk over to his tonkatsu. It looks great. Yoongi would make a great cook. "This looks delicious." I say looking over at him. He takes off the apron I gave him and grabs his dress shirt. "Shall we go downstairs?" He asks before slipping his shirt over his head and finishes buttoning the top buttons. "You go first. I have to make sure my cooks are good." I say before patting his shoulder. "We're okay chef, just finishing now. 8 minute window." A cook says looking up at me from cutting an egg garnish. "Are you sure? I can stay up here. It's my job." "Go have fun." A cook says not turning towards me and pulling something out of the oven. "Come on!" Yoongi says pulling my hand. I'm so nervous I want to die. I fix my hair and Yoongi pulls me faster. "Hey, relax! We are all fun, chill guys. Just be yourself. Don't try too hard. Be yourself. It's the best." He says pushing the elevator button. "I mean it's going to be awkward, honestly. I don't know anyone and I'm not really social so it's just nerve wracking." I say touching my hair again. "Stop touching your hair. You look great." Yoongi says as the elevator doors slide open. "I smell like fry oil." He mutters putting his sleeve up to his nose. "Isn't it gross? Cooks smell like that a lot." I say before laughing. We step inside and I whine loudly. My legs are shaking and my mouth is dry. I'm so nervous. It's a ridiculous thought to be nervous but so many idols in one place that I'm fans of makes me shiver. "Oh stop it." Yoongi says putting his hand on my back to calm me. The elevator doors shut and we move downwards. "Oh my God. Oh my God." I mutter to myself. "Cute." Yoongi says with a laugh patting my back. "Stick with me if you feel nervous." He says before the doors open. As we step out, I crash into somebody from keeping my eyes glued to the floor and fall on the ground. "Oh my God! Are you okay?! I'm so sorry!" I hear standing above me. I look up to see Lee Jooheon standing above me. He is looking down at me concerned. His eyes were open wide and his blue hair was shining so brightly in this dim hallway. "Are...you okay?" He asks me holding out his hand. "Sorry!" I gather up the courage to squeak and grab his hand. He pulls me to my feet and smiles showing his dimples at me. "You ok?" Yoongi asks putting his hand on my shoulder. I look over at him and nod. "Oh hyung." Jooheon says before giving Yoongi a bro hug. "I'm glad you guys could come." As they begin to talk the rest of Monsta X files into the hallway. "Yo!" I.M. yells before looking over at me. "Ah. Hello." He says awkwardly bowing to me. "Hello!" I say with a laugh. "This is Chef Choi Yuna." Yoongi says patting my shoulder. "Ah!" The rest of the guys say before bowing to me. "Nice to meet you! I hope you enjoy the food tonight!" "We will!" Shownu says to me excitedly. "Come this way." Yoongi says walking ahead. "Do you guys like Japanese food?" I ask them as we walk down the hallway. "Of course!" Minhyuk cheers clapping quickly. I step through the double doors and everyone turns towards us. I grab Yoongi's arm as tons of eyes fall on me. "It's okay!" He says with a laugh. "Aigoooo! Like a newborn deer, she's scared." Jin oppa says walking over me. "Everyone! This is Chef Choi Yuna!" Jin say waving his arms to point at me. I smile and wave both my hands. "I hope you enjoy your food and drinks!" I say looking over everyone. Damn everyone looks good. Not everyone was in fancy dress, some rappers amongst both visiting groups were wearing stylish clothes fitting their personality. I guess I was the only one worried about my appearance. "VAV is coming soon." Wonho says to Hoseok oppa. Everyone goes back to their idle chatter and I walk over to the large island near the kitchen that had food warming candles underneath the metal tray platters as well as heat lamps coming down above it. One of the cooks arrives with the shabu-shabu and sets it down about a food warming candle. "How is everything going?" I ask him, "Good." He says looking around, "Wah. Really. How can there be so many good looking people in this world." He mutters before bowing to me and walking off towards the double doors. I giggle and head over to the smaller marble island to the left where the drink station is. There was loads of beer. When I say loads, people would think 'A whole case?!' Oh no no. Try 20 cases of beer stacked up behind the island plus a case on the station. 20 bottles of soju and I added fruity drinks, mainly for myself since I don't like really like drinking either of those. "Do you like to drink?" I hear from behind me. I turn to Jooheon and smile. I couldn't help but squeak a little inside. Jooheon approached ME. "I like fruity drinks." I say pointing to the Bokbunja-ju and the Maeshilju. "Ohhhh." He says nodding his head with a smile. "I see." He says thoughtfully. "I can't drink a lot. I'm allergic to alcohol and get drunk very quickly so I should enjoy the taste of it." I say with a laugh making him smile showing his dimple. Omo, my heart. "Shall we have a drink together?" He asks me leaning against the island. Wow, he's asking me to drink with him! "Yes." I say quietly before he grabs a bottle of Bokbunja-ju. "Shouldn't we eat first?" I ask him as I grab two cups. "It's a party." He says in English before pouring the raspberry wine. "Did you meet anyone else yet?" Jooheon asks and I shake my head as he hands me my cup. "Do you want me to introduce you?" He says bring the cup to his lips. I shrug and look up at him. Man all these guys are so tall. The only person near my height was Woozi from Seventeen and he was still inches taller than me! "It's a lot of people to introduce me too." I say looking around. "Come on, it'll be fun! Let's go." Jooheon says walking towards the groups of people. I take a sip of my wine to boost my courage. I should have had a shot of soju before coming down to boost my confidence. "Guys!" Jooheon says approaching a group of taller guys. "This is Choi Yuna." He says as the group moves to include us. Wonwoo, Seungkwan, Jungkook, Vernon and I.M. look down at me. "It's nice to meet you!" Seungkwan says bowing with Wonwoo and Vernon. "Nice to meet you guys!" I say nervously. "Noona, makes such awesome food." Jungkook says putting his arm over my shoulder. "We went to the restaurant you worked at a few times to have your food. It's amazing. BTS is so lucky." Wonwoo says before taking a sip of his beer. I smile brightly. "Wow. Noona. You never look at us like that." Jungkook says feigning sadness and I shove him slightly making him laugh. "You and Vernon have something in common. You're both half white, half Korean." Jungkook says pointing his beer can at Vernon. "Oh sweet." Vernon says in English. "It's nice to meet you." He says giving me a smirk. "Oh yes. Nice to meet." Seungkwan says in broken English making me laugh. He's funny! "Where are you from?" Vernon asks me before drinking some of his beer. I sip on my wine before answering him. "I'm from New York." I say and he claps. "Wow! Me too!" He says widening his eyes. "So similar. Yes." Seungkwan says nodding. I look over at him and laugh. "I'm sorry." I say in Korean before he laughs. "It's okay I know I'm good at English." He says feigning cockiness. I giggle and drink more of my drink. "I'm really excited to taste your food!" I.M. says to my right. I look up at him. "Damn. Everyone is so tall." I say bending my neck backwards making everyone laugh. "Such a shortie, noona is." Jungkook says before taking his arm off my shoulders. "I'm introducing Yuna to everyone." Jooheon says before drinking some of his wine. "That's so nice of you hyung." I.M. says staring at him before Jooheon laughs showing his deep set dimples. "How old are you?" Wonwoo asks sitting down on a chair we brought from downstairs. "I'm 95 line." I say before watching Jungkook and I.M. sit down on the floor. "We should have rented chairs or something." Yuna says worried. "We're okay! Don't worry about us." I.M says looking up at me. "Yeah, noona. It's okay. We'll all be drunk soon anyway." Jungkook says with a wink before drinking more beer. "You have a schedule tomorrow. You better not get wasted." I tell him look down sternly. "Yes, noona." He say with a glowing smile. "Let's go, I'll introduce you to more people." Jooheon says to me patting my back. "I'll come with you guys." Seungkwan says happily. He seems like such a ball of sunshine. "Leggo." Jooheon says linking arms with Seungkwan. "Guys! Meet Yuna!" Seungkwan says approaching the next group. We step closer and I start to smile as Shownu smiles down at me. His smile was so warming. Like a friend who you've known for years. "Yuna this is Woozi, Hoshi, S.Coups, Mingyu and you already met Hyungwon, Wonho and Shownu hyungs." I bow to them all. "It's so nice to meet you guys!" I say not able to contain my excitement. They laugh and bow back to me. "It's nice to meet you." S.Coups says before chuckling. "I'm excited to eat your food. When you made us food before it was so good!" Woozi says happily. I can't believe these boys have eaten my food before and enjoyed it! "I hope you like it this time too!" I say before drinking more of my wine. "I'm sure we will. You're a food genius." Hoshi says before chugging his beer. "We won't even be able to taste the food and get too drunk if everyone doesn't get here soon." Seungkwan says finishing his beer off. "That's true." I say chugging some of my wine. Now with the alcohol kicking in I wasn't so frightened anymore to be with everyone. "There's a lot of people to still meet." Seungkwan says before shouts come from the entrance as Got7 enters the house. I giggle as I meet eyes with BamBam. He bows at me before high fiving a few members of Seventeen at the door. "Seventeen members that haven't met Yuna come introduce yourselves!" S.Coups yells. "That'll hurry it up." He says as the guys start walking over. Woozi laughs and moves over. "Yuna this is Mingyu, Dino, The8, Jun, DK, Joshua and Jeonghan." Hoshi says pointing at the incoming guys. They bow to me and I bow back clapping. "Nice to meet you all." I say before finishing my drink. Jooheon looks down at me. "You feeling okay?" He asks concerned. How sweet. I nod and point at the bar. "I'm going back for another." I say before stepping backwards. I crash into someone and feel hands on my shoulders. "You ok?" I hear in English behind me and look up at Mark from Got7 holding me. "Sorry!" I say with a laugh in English. "No problem. I'm Mark." He says with a bright smile. Wow. He has such a nice smile. Isn't it nice when someone has nice teeth? Is that a weird thing to like? His teeth were beautiful. "I'm Yuna. Nice to meet you." I say running my fingers through my hair. "Same." He says before Jooheon high fives him. "I think you should wait to drink another one." I hear from behind me and Taehyung walks up with Hoseok oppa. "I'm fine. Just clumsy." I say shaking my hand at him. He grabs my hand and looks down into my eyes. "Wait a while to drink." He says, why are you making me out to seem like a bad person when I drink? I pull my hand away from him and fold my arms. "I'm fine." I say catching an attitude. "Don't worry, Taehyung-ah. She's fine. She only had a drink. I'll look after her." Jooheon says trying to diffuse tension. "Aish." Taehyung mutters walking away and I look after him. I just met these people why is he embarrassing me in front of everyone? "Sorry." Hoseok oppa says walking after Taehyung. "Weird." Seungkwan says and I turn around. "I'm getting another drink." I say before stepping away from everyone. "I'll join you." Mark says in English. "Me too." Jooheon says before chugging his drink. We walk over to the table and I open another raspberry wine. "Hey Jackson, come meet Yuna!" Mark says waving someone over. He grabs two beers and hands one over as I pour my drink. "Yuna! This is Jackson." Mark says in English. I turn around sipping my drink. "Hey I'm Jackson!" He says going in for a high five. I high five him. "Nice to meet you, man." I say watching him crack open the beer can. Mark and Jackson start speaking to each other in Chinese and I just stand there watching them. That Japanese cook was right, how can there be so many good looking guys in the world?
An hour later all the guests arrived. I found it most comfortable to be around people that came to me easily rather than going out and trying to become friends with everyone. Everyone was so relaxed with each other. I felt very strange especially being the only girl. I can act like a bro any day but in Korea it's different when you have people who are older and younger than you. Everyone just started eating. I've been drinking a lot of water to keep a nice flow of tipsiness. Everyone has been really nice to me, except Taehyung. If he passes me he gives me sly remarks and tries to belittle me in front of his friends so they won't be interested in me. Everyone can tell he's being weird. That's not how Taehyung acts at all usually. Mostly English speakers came to speak to me, I guess they just felt really comfortable and it must be nice to speak to someone who isn't an idol and doesn't really care what they are doing or care if they act out in their spare time. I guess it's just fun for these guys to be somewhere and act like themselves without cameras on them. Since so many people came they started spreading out to different areas of the house. I ended up hanging out near the living room sitting on an area carpet between the couch and where the double doors for the dining room are. Mark, Jackson, Ayno, Lou and Ziu from VAV and Jooheon, Shownu and Kihyun decided to sit with me. They were all eating and praising the food. "Yuna eat something!" Jackson says scarfing down some more food. "It's okay. I'm not hungry." I say, "Ey! Are you trying to just get drunk and get sick?! Eat!" Jooheon says standing up. "Where are you going?" Kihyun asks in between bites of food. "To make Yuna a plate." Jooheon says stretching his arms up. "Jooheon. It's okay." I say quickly setting down my drink. "No. No. No. You made the food. You should eat it too." He says before a tall figure approaches us. "Chef Yuna?" I look up. "Wah!" I mutter covering my mouth. "Hi! My name is Bo Gum! Taehyung told me you haven't eaten yet! So I made you a plate!" He says bowing. PARK BO GUM MADE ME A PLATE OF FOOD. I stare up at him before I feel a nudge on my left. "Yuna. Yo." Jackson mutters into my ear. I look over at him dazed and then look back up at Park Bo Gum. "Wow." Is all I say in English and Jackson stands up and bows to him before taking the food. "I'll make sure she eats it." I look up at Bo Gum again as he gives me a gentle smile. Wow! Holy Shit! Can someone be this handsome! In just a beige turtle neck and some simple black jeans he looks like he stepped out of a drama. "Your food is amazing! Let's have a drink later! I'd love to talk more with you." He says smiling widely at me. "Ah. Ne." I mutter as he bows again and walks off. He enters Taehyung's bedroom and I throw my body back. "WOW." I yell loudly. "Are you that happy?" Ayno asks with a laugh. I laugh along with him. "Eat your food that God Bo Gum made you." Jackson says sitting down next to me. "Ok." I say in English grabbing the plate. "Wow can you believe this?!" Kihyun says with a laugh pointing at me. I smile at him before eating some of the Okonomayaki. "Wow honestly. I hate eating my food. I always have higher expectations for myself." I say frowning. "What are you talking about. It's delicious." Jooheon says before chugging another beer. "This is some of the best Japanese food I've ever had!" Ziu says setting his plate down next to him. "Get full and enjoy yourselves." I say before setting the plate down. "No. No." Jooheon says picking up my dish. "Eat it all." He says with a frown. "I'm full!" I say shaking my head. "What can I do to make you eat this? You need strength to be a great chef!" He says grabbing my arm. "You're all tattooed up! You're an amazing chef with a serious side! You have swag! You have to eat this food to be big and strong to tell off your staff!" Jooheon says pushing the plate to me. I laugh at him. "If I eat some more, will you leave it alone?" I ask him before fixing my skirt. "Yes!" He says happily handing me the plate. "Okay, I'll eat a bit more." I say sticking my tongue out. "Eat a lot." He says wiggling his fingers above his head. "Okay." I say before grabbing my chopsticks. Jooheon is so nice. He's a very comfortable person to be with.
The night goes on at the same pace with everyone getting progressively more drunk. My bad habit while drinking is smoking cigarettes. Even in the restaurant with all the stress going on, the one thing I could count on to make me feel better is smoking cigarettes. I was pretty drunk at this point. After the countless bottles of water people were throwing at me I still ended up in this state. How is that possible?! There was music blasting throughout the house and people dancing. It made me so dizzy to watch even though they were all so good at it. As expected of idols. "I'll be back." I yell at Mark who raises an eyebrow. "Where are you going?" He asks. I step backwards and falter making him grab my arm. "Come on. I'll take you where you want to go." He says holding my arm up. "I'm okay." I say before stepping sideways. "Girl!" He says in English with a laugh. "Let's go." He says, "I'm going to smoke. You don't want to come with me." I say shaking my head. "I'm from L.A. You think I've never seen anyone smoke anything?! Let's go." He says with a laugh letting my arm go. "Hey! Where are you going?" Baekhyun asks as we start to walk off. "I'm going to smoke." I say pointing up to the roof. I haven't been up there. I hope the roof is open. "Oh! Wait a minute!" "Ya! Chen! Kai! Let's go." He says pointing up and Kai smiles. "Yes." "Anyone smoke?" Baekhyun yells out and a few heads pop out. "Let's go." Kihyun says grabbing my arm quickly. Mark grabs my other arm and we rush out of the room. "Yuna! You can't just go announce you're going to smoke! This isn't America. It's totally frowned upon for girls to smoke!" Kihyun hisses dragging me to the staircase. "I mean people in the kitchen industry do it all the time?" I say confused. "Why is it a big deal?" Mark asks rushing out with us. "You're from America. You don't understand." Kihyun says. "Yuna?" I hear from behind me and I turn around to Baekhyun. "Let's go." He says pressing the elevator button. I look at Kihyun and he pulls a pack of cigarettes out of his shirt pocket rolling his eyes. Wonho steps out from the group and smiles. "Oh Yuna smokes? Unexpected." He says raising an eyebrow. "Ya! Bad man! Keep your mouth shut about it." Kihyun says as the elevator doors open. "Kihyun. You're living in the past!" Kai says stepping into the elevator. We all get on and I press the roof button before a hand slides in the door. Jooheon, Jackson, Park Seo Joon and a few others get in. "You all don't smoke." Baekhyun says confused. "We're here to get some fresh air." Jackson says clapping. "Yeah, fresh air tainted by smoke." Chen says before laughing and repeatedly pressing the door close button. As the door begins to close again an arm smacks in between them, "Oh come on!" Baekhyun yells as Taehyung and a few others step onto the elevator. "At this rate we should just take the stairs." Kai says as Baekhyun puts his arm around Taehyung's shoulders. "I just wanted a cigarette. Not a celebrity meeting." I mutter looking at Mark and he smiles showing me his perfect teeth. The elevator doors finally close and we start to ascend to the roof. "You're pretty drunk. Right?" Kihyun asks still holding my arm. "Aren't you?" I ask and he nods. "Totally." He mutters as the doors open up. We step out and I gasp. "Wow!" I yell looking at an indoor pool with lights at the bottom. "Wow. Being a world star sure is different." Baekhyun says stepping around the pool and opening up glass panels to walk outside. "Here." Kihyun says handing me a cigarette as we walk out. "Sit." Jooheon says pointing to bench near the glass walls preventing anyone from falling off the building. I sit down and he puts his jacket over my legs. "Yuna. Remember. We all don't smoke. Okay? Our images need to be maintained." Baekhyun says lighting his cigarette. "Some people found pictures of me before debut smoking. I'm pretty sure they forgot about it. But they'd get mad if they saw me smoking again." Wonho says before lighting his cigarette. I light my cigarette and sigh. "Being an idol sounds hard." I say putting my head back. "I read the news article. That must've been hard for you too." Mark says sitting down next to me. "I hate people." I say before inhaling smoke. I hear Jooheon laugh near me. "At least we know we can be normal around you hmm?" He says nudging me. "I'm just real." I say looking over at everyone. They nod and smile. "We like hanging out with you. You're just as chill as we thought you would be." Kihyun says looking at the skyline. "Mmmm." I mutter watching the sky spin. "Let's hang out more often. Hmm?" Jooheon says petting my head. I nod, "I brought more beer." I hear Ayno yell. "As expected. Let's party, baby." Jooheon says dancing over to him. "You just can't bring Park Bo Gum next time. Yuna doesn't know how to act." Jackson says sitting down next to me and then waving his hand as smoke goes near his face. "Move then!" I say laughing and pushing him. "Damn. I just wanted to sit next to you!" He says in English grabbing his arm. "Oh please. That didn't hurt." I say to him laughing. "You hurt me!" He whines falling off the bench. "Don't exaggerate." I yell in Korean making everyone laugh. "Let's be friends from now on." Kihyun says stepping over Jackson and sitting down next to me. He smiles at me and grabs my pinky. "Let's all be friends." Jooheon says grabbing Marks arm. This right here, this exact moment at 12:43 a.m. was the start to a whole lot of trouble.

Goodbye America, Hello Japan!
Things are about to get real for me. We’re leaving the comforts and securities of the motherland to venture out to a place of complete vulnerability on our part. We don’t speak Japanese and we can’t read Japanese (despite Matt being half Japanese),so we are really starting out far behind the curve here folks. As we got on the plane in Hawaii, I loaded my newly purchased Catnapple bag with as many diet cokes as I could possibly carry on because Japan is Diet Coke free. You heard me right, it’s a real bad deal. These folks have a thing against aspartame for some reason. I mean, don’t mind the fact that it’s probably terrible for you, so they just aren’t having any of it here. Smuggling in as much as I could to get me through as much of this leg of the trip as I could is my plan. Once I run out, I’m going straight to beer, as that seems like the next safest option. Don’t be fooled, the Japanese do not judge day drinking, in fact, they seem to support it. It’s 8:20 am and we are currently boarding the bullet train to go to Kyoto for a few days and I noticed many people packing in beers for breakfast. Now that’s a new take on “eating your wheaties” if you ask me.
Quickly, it became clear that I was definitely the minority on the plane as we took our seats. My fair skin and blonde hair aren’t a discrete feature on an Asian airliner. I knew then, that everywhere in Japan was going to be just like this experience. I suppose the positive is that with my bright purple coat and my very distinguishable blonde hair, I won’t get lost in the crowds of people. Matt was right, the seats and entertainment on the plane were stellar, the service top notch, and the food, well a bit odd, but I committed to trying everything once (who knew that concept from childhood would re-emerge again) on this trip. I’ll either come out of Japan loving the food or I will have lost 10 pounds (either wouldn’t be a bad thing). We’ll see what happens. If the rest of Japan is going to be like our experience on the plane, then I’ll take it, otherwise, I’m just going to stay right here on the plane.
After just over eight hours on the flight, we arrived in the airport where Matt’s aunt and uncle picked us up. Matt’s mom and her sister immediately started talking in Japanese and it hasn’t stopped since! One 70 year old Asian lady is hard enough to wrangle, so you can only imagine two of them! I think they were super excited to see each other since it’s been around 15 years since Matt’s mom has been back to Japan. I mean, you’d think with FaceTime and Skype these ladies would “see” each other regularly, but no, the only thing Matt’s mom has learned to use the internet for is shopping on Amazon and binge watching Turkish soap operas on YouTube. While they were immediately starting to catch up, Matt secured us a pocket WiFi for the days we will be here, because I’m willing to take daily shots of my smuggled Diet Coke to make it last, I just can’t make it without the internet, it’s like the one last thing keeping me connected to the inside and outside world.
The thing I am most excited about throughout this entire journey is for Matt to be able to meet his extended family (his aunts/uncles and cousins) and to be able to see where his mom and her family grew up, as the family still owns and maintains their childhood home. About two years ago, Matt and I had discussed how we would like to get to Japan with his mom before she is unable to travel comfortably (it’s a 14 hour flight from OKC). Six months ago Matt’s mom found out that his cousin was going to be getting married in January and the entire family was coming. So, just like that, we started planning this adventure with our resident interpreter, Kinuko Jorgensen in tow.
Matt filled you in on all the fun things we have explored the last few days, which has been a unique experience to say the least. I’ll be honest, Japan is one of the cleanest, safest, most advanced places we’ve ever been (these toilets guys, I’m ordering one the minute we get home), but it’s been somewhat hard for us as Americans, as there is just not a lot of things in English anywhere and the public transportation, although abundant, is extremely confusing to navigate, even more so with such a significant language barrier between us and them. Thank goodness for the itranslate app on the IPhone, as we’ve been able to navigate our way around (if that’s what you want to call it, more like barely making it, but it’s worked) when Matt’s mom isn’t with us. I highly recommend it for anyone traveling where interpretation services will be needed. You just speak slowly into it in English and it gives both a written and spoken response translated in to whatever language you need it in. So, you can show it to someone or they can listen and usually between those two things, you can get what you want or need from the conversation.
As mentioned before, the whole reason we came to Japan now is because Matt’s cousin is getting married. We’ve been to a lot of weddings, but this was a real fancy wedding that clearly did not include a rehearsal because everyone (in the wedding party) has a personal escort who tells them what to do when, on que. This is a western style wedding (this seems to be popular here) that is held in a real elaborate hotel. What was different was that since there is not a rehearsal, the customary approach is that the bride and grooms families get together about 30 minutes before the wedding and introduce each person one by one to the other’s family. Once again, we can’t understand a thing going on, but we follow along and attempt to do what the others are doing. The wedding and reception last from 1:30 p.m. to about 8:30 p.m. and included two formal wear changes for the bride and groom, a six-course dinner (with different drinks at each course), and lots of meeting people from both sides many times throughout the night. I can now see why everyone needs a personal escort, it’s really a lot to keep straight. Not much is different in the wedding ceremony, nor all the other hub-hub that goes on with weddings, but thankfully we’ve attended a few in our time to know at least what is approximately going on since again all of this is in Japanese. So, as you will see from some of the photos, these additional people are Matt’s aunts, uncles (their spouses) and one set of his cousins. Matt’s mom is one of 6 kids. Her oldest brother is deceased, the next big brother unfortunately couldn’t make the wedding because he is in the hospital (he’s 77 and just had surgery), and then you see her next biggest brother (gray/white hair-he’s 73). I can’t pronounce or even try to type his name, but I can totally see where Matt gets his happy personality from, as this guy is a hoot! Matt’s mom is child number 4 and then her younger brother (dark hair) who she reports is very serious and her younger sister (in the kimono-her son is the one getting married) is the one that tries to keep everyone in the family in line. It’s been great getting to see all of them together. There are more family events scheduled for later in the week, but for now we’ll leave it at that. The wedding was beautiful and we all had a great time.
On Monday we went out and explored the Ginza area of Tokyo. This area is made up of high-end designer shops all put into these large multi-level malls. So imagine a Dillards store, but instead of different departments in one store (the different areas, men’s, women’s, etc. are all on different floors), it’s different designers in little booth spaces on each floor of the store, so more like a trade show set up if you will. We did some shopping and then headed over to the Canon store, so that Matt could get all of his camera equipment cleaned and serviced (as it is about half price to do it here then at home). Matt’s mom went along with us (you all should know she likes real fancy things-must be where Matt gets it from), as her interpretation skills were likely going to be needed at the camera store. We had a fabulous day, walked about 10 miles total, so I’m hoping that off sets all the sweet treats we keep picking up on every corner from these great little vendors.
Since we’ve been here, we’ve eaten just about every type of Japanese food. We’ve had sushi, ramen, soba, tonkatsu, yakatori, etc. We really wanted to go to one of the authentic yakiniku restaurants where you grill the beef there at your table over hot coals. About 8:00 pm we ventured out to find this place we found on the internet (mind you we can’t read any of it, but we were just taking a gamble hoping it was good), as it was about a mile walk from the house. We show up, they are very confused as to our lack of Japanese skills, but don’t fret the itranslate app came to the rescue once again! This place (which is down a dark alley with nothing else around it with nothing in English anywhere in sight, so we knew this place was going to be good) is apparently famous for feeding sumo wrestlers, so yes, we are definitely in the right place! We made it through this amazing meal with lots of patience from the owner and wait staff who were just so very accommodating to us. They sent us home with some little gifts from the restaurant and I think thoroughly enjoyed the experience with us just as much as we did. We even got them to take a picture with us! Follow up to this experience with Matt’s mom translating: we found out this place truly is one of the best places to go, so despite the little language barrier, Matt and I still were able to navigate our way to great food! Who knew?
Just a few photos for you all to enjoy from the past few days. Off to Kyoto and Nara for our next Japanese experience!

You agreed to meet up at the subway station at eleven in the morning.
After you agreed on the time and place Seung Hyun hung up and had a moment to feel absolutely ecstatic as he realized what just happened. Then he really realized what just happened and started to panic a little.
He decided not to tell any of his friends. They already teased him enough about his "texting friend", if they heard about this date he would never hear the end of it. And to be honest, he'd rather they not be involved for now. Somehow he suspected they'd find a way to get invite themselves along & he didn't want that.
Which, unfortunately, meant he couldn't ask any of them about what he should wear. It had been so long since Seung Hyun even had a date, he just wasn't sure. A quick internet search didn't help much... apparently first date attire depended on the location. Amusement parks were considered casual, which meant nothing formal. Not to mention the fact that if he dressed up too much it would make him easier to spot. Seung Hyun reluctantly had to admit that dressing down was the best option, so he found himself picking a pair of dark blue, rather tight jeans. He'd bought them while going shopping with Jiyong one time, who had wolf-whistled when Seung Hyun stepped out of the dressing room (which he had taken as a sign that they looked good on him).
A t-shirt was the obvious other choice, but Seung Hyun wasn't really sure what type. He had plenty of plain, colored ones that were probably boring, but he didn't know which ones with prints on them would be appropriate. Any of the Bigbangr themed ones he knew were out of the question. Eventually, after upending half his closet, he picked a wine-red v-collared shirt and black striped hoodie to go over that. It probably looked dull, but by this point Seung Hyun had spent two hours in his closet and had enough of fretting over clothes. As he worked to set everything to rights again, he strictly forbade himself from reconsidering, the painstakingly selected outfit laid folded over a chair.
That turned out to be harder than he thought, but he managed to stay strong by distracting himself. It also helped that you had called him in the evening for a relatively short phone call, talking about inconsequential things. After you hung up he felt considerably less nervous and unsure.
Thankfully, the feeling lasted until he stepped off the train at exit 2. He was wearing a dark gray baseball cap, black face mask and had a pair of sunglasses hooked into his shirt's collar, just in case. Most of the time people didn't recognize him unless he was dumb enough to forego the disguise and hang around in public. Today, the chances were much higher that he would go unrecognized as long as he was careful.
Yesterday, when you agreed on where to meet, you told him that you'd be wearing a blue shirt. Nobody was waiting yet so Seung Hyun put his hands in his pockets and peered out at the subway traffic, casually people watching.
He hadn't even been waiting five minutes, which was why he almost missed when you showed up until he spotted a figure heading straight for him out of the corner of his eye. Turning towards the person, he lowered his gaze and was honestly rendered speechless.
You were... well, devastatingly beautiful came to mind. Hot as hell, too. The phrase sex on legs occurred as Seung Hyun found himself looking you up and down, completely forgetting about trying to be subtle because... holy hell.
You were wearing a pair of black jeans that looked like they'd been painted on. A blue shirt, as you'd said, with a washed out, fading white print of a butterfly on the front that fit very well, revealing only a subtle amount of skin. Your hair had been curled up into a messy bun and there was a light dusting of makeup on your face. Your eyes were warm and bright & there was an adorable curve to your lips. Bright red and delicious.
Seung Hyun hadn't expected this. He was curious what you would look like but he hadn't asked and you hadn't volunteered. It simply hadn't mattered to him. He was already attracted to you, he figured the physical aspect would follow once you met.
Boy, did it ever.
The very best part, though, was the way you were smiling. Talking to you on the phone, Seung Hyun had imagined you to be the type of person who smiled with their whole body, just by the way it was reflected in your voice. He'd been completely right about that. Just in the few seconds after Seung Hyun had met your eyes, the smile on your face had widened and brightened until you were all but beaming. He was helpless to do anything but smile back, completely charmed and embarrassingly breathless.
"Seung Hyun." you said, and then you hugged him. Not one of those polite, quick hugs either but a real hug where you pressed your chest against his and wrapped your arms around his waist, your cheek briefly resting against Seung Hyun's neck. Then, slowly, you let go and took a step back. "Wow, you look even bigger in person."
"Uh, you look..." Seung Hyun started, then stopped, because anything that came to mind was probably inappropriate. The only reason he didn't feel like a complete cad was that the word "beautiful" was the first one he thought of, quickly followed by "devastating" and then a pretty incoherent garble.
"Yes?" you said, one eyebrow raising, the remnants of the smile still curling your lips up.
"Good." Seung Hyun finally managed, sounding slightly strangled. "Really good, I mean. Really, really good."
You laughed. "Don't strain anything trying so hard, geez."
"No, I just..." feeling helpless, Seung Hyun gestured toward you a little, then flushed deep red and lowered his hand. "Uh. You really look good."
Grinning, you winked at him. "I get it."
You looked happy as you glanced toward the exit, body language loose and relaxed. "Ready to go?"
With Seung Hyun leading the way you left the station and started walking down the street, soon stepping out into the bright sun. It was a nice day, not too warm, not too cool, a few clouds in the sky but no prospect of rain.
"Are you hungry?" he asked.
"Seung Hyun..." you said with exaggerated patience. "You're taking me to an amusement park. The question isn't how hungry I am, it's how much I can eat without throwing up." you blinked up at him, expression set. "We're getting tonkatsu to start with. Let's go."
With determination, you started leading the way to Seoul Land, but not without reaching out to touch Seung Hyun's elbow. A little confused, Seung Hyun lifted his arm, and you clearly took that as an invitation to slide your hand down the inside of it to Seung Hyun's hand, where you laced your fingers with his. That wasn't at all what Seung Hyun had intended to do, but it was absolutely what he wanted to happen, so he curled his fingers around yours and found himself smiling helplessly at the ground.
Gently, you bumped your shoulder into his. "You're a sap. Somehow I'm not surprised."
"Shut up..." Seung Hyun returned warmly, feeling a big part of his nerves slowly seep away. Yes, this was you, but it was also _________. The girl he'd been talking to every day for weeks... months, if texting counted as talking.
At first conversation between the two of you was a bit awkward. The way Seung Hyun couldn't stop looking at you probably didn't help make things less so. But as you got used to the new circumstances, you both started to relax and found your stride again. Very quickly you were back to talking to each other the way you always did... a lot of teasing interspersed with conversation.
It was different, of course, being with you in person. Seung Hyun got to look at you, which he did... a lot. It was a bit embarrassing but he couldn't seem to stop himself. And he could also touch you, which he tried not to do as much as he looked, but he probably still touched you a great deal. Seung Hyun was a tactile person and wasn't always aware of it. More than once he found his hand somewhere thankfully innocuous on you, your arm mostly, your hand, the small of your back. Every time he guiltily retracted his hand again. To his embarrassment you definitely noticed, glancing at Seung Hyun out of the corner of your eye several times, looking amused. Once or twice you even grabbed his hand and put it back where it had been after he tried to remove it.
After the tonkatsu, you worked your way from carnival game to food and back, zig-zagging from fishing ducks to getting walnut cookies, from tossing hoops at a glass bottle to deep-fried seafood on a stick, and more. Eventually you decided you couldn't eat any more, your lips sticky with spun sugar that you licked out of the corners of your mouth. Seung Hyun didn't hear a word you said, too busy staring at your shiny lips, trying and thoroughly failing not to imagine their sweet taste.
"Seung Hyun?" you asked. You stopped walking and looked up at him, your expression highly amused. "Are you even listening?"
There were only two things Seung Hyun could do right then: lie, or... not.
"No." he replied, pulling his mask down so that it was tucked under his chin.
Seung Hyun reached out to cup your face with both hands and gave you just enough time to see the amusement fade from his eyes, lips parting as your chin seemed to lift almost instinctively, welcoming. Then he leaned in and pressed his lips to yours, warm and slightly sticky, impossibly sweet.
The kiss lingered, but he kept it as sweet as the flavor of your lips, not deepening it. He wanted to, but he also wanted to keep it just as it was, soft and almost light. It was everything you would have hoped your first kiss with Seung Hyun would be, even if a little more spontaneous than you would have thought. People were walking past you, a lot of children that shrieked and yelled in excitement. You were warm and still, not quite pressed against him, your hand on Seung Hyun's wrist where his hand was still cupping your face.
It felt like ages had passed when you finally separated, though it probably wasn't more than a handful of seconds. Seung Hyun's heart seemed to be trying to jump right out of his chest, it was beating so fast and, inexplicably, he was breathing a little harder. In front of him you were real and warm and looking a little stunned, eyes wide and a little dark.
The tip of your tongue flicked out to wet your lips, and you blinked. "Hmmm, yes."
"Yes?" Seung Hyun repeated, slightly amused. His mouth started to stretch into a smile, entirely out of his control as happiness bubbled up in him.
You returned the smile, bright and pleased. "Yes." you leaned up for a quick kiss, then pulled back and took Seung Hyun's hand, pulling him along. "Now, let's go."
"Go?" Seung Hyun had to laugh, trying to catch up with you as he tugged his mask back into place. "Go where?"
Over your shoulder, you sent him a very significant look, a mischievous twinkle in your eyes, then you faced to the front again and made a beeline for the bumper cars.
"I am never, ever getting into a car with you behind the wheel." you swore half an hour later as you both stumbled off the steps leading to the ride. Seung Hyun laughed with his full body, head thrown back, and you physically felt yourself fall a little bit (more) in love with him, his bright eyes, his expressive face and body language.
"I'm not even allowed to drive. No license.” he explained, still reeling a little and utterly unable to refrain from slinging his arm around your waist, pulling you in to press a short kiss to you temple.
You snickered, the tips of your fingers casually brushing down Seung Hyun's belly.
“Ooohh." his entire body language changed all of a sudden as he spotted something that captured his attention. "Let's go." He grabbed your hand and walked quickly for a shooting range. "What do you want me to win for you?"
Caught a little off-guard, you stared at the gifts on offer for anyone who hit the target's center enough times. "Um... I don't know?"
"Alright." Seung Hyun said, suddenly all business as he handed you his mask and hat.
It was fascinating how his entire body language changed, he became focused and sort of... contained, as he received the carnival rifle the employee handed him in exchange for a couple of bills. Seung Hyun handled the gun expertly, weighing it and peering through the scope for a second before he got into position in front of one of the targets & pressed the butt of the rifle against his shoulder. His entire body went still as he peered along the rifle, then shot.... again and again. Hitting the center each time, making it seem effortless. You knew that carnival games were rigged, but you also knew that the very best of shooters could compensate for that. Seung Hyun seemed to be having no trouble.
It was breathtaking, captivating, to watch him. His usually expressive body language was stone still, focused completely as he obliterated the target. The carnival employee smiled, wide and fake, and a few people standing close by applauded as Seung Hyun handed the gun back with a slowly building grin, pointing towards a stuffed purple elephant. He took the elephant with a bow, then immediately handed it over to you, his smile widening and brightening, though his eyes were still calm, serious.
You took the elephant, much more occupied with looking at Seung Hyun and he looked back, for just a moment, until somebody approached him. You listened as a guy hesitantly asked Seung Hyun for an autograph so he could give it to his girlfriend. You did your best to melt into the background as a couple more people approached Seung Hyun to take photos. He accepted it all with a placid smile, nodded, shook hands and hugged that woman who seemed on the verge of tears. You knew what this was, just part of the life of being a celebrity. Thankfully it wasn't a lot of people, just a handful.
Once he'd shaken the last guy's hand, Seung Hyun stepped away and turned to you, his expression a bit wry. "Sorry about that. Let's go."
You shook your head, reached out to brush your fingertips over his cheek. "Don't apologize."
He shrugged a little and, after putting his hat and mask back on, lead the way over to a line for waffles.
Visibly shaking the topic off, Seung Hyun pointed at the purple elephant you had stuffed under your arm. "So what do you think? Good choice?"
You glanced at the elephant and grinned. "The best. Couldn't have chosen better."
Seung Hyun grinned. "Yeah? What are you going to do with it?"
"Put it in my bed and sleep with it." you improvised.
"Yeah?" the look Seung Hyun sent you at that made you flush. "Sleep with it, huh?"
"Oh geez." you lowered your face into you hands for a moment, entirely mortified. It was worth it a little for the way Seung Hyun laughed, but still. Embarrassing.
"Let's just... um, waffles?" sounding slightly desperate, you gestured toward the available toppings.
"Oh, ________." Seung Hyun shook his head. "A little more creativity, please." with that, he stepped forward, nodded at the vendor and ordered. "One with banana, chocolate sauce and rainbow sprinkles, please."
Not batting an eyelash, the vendor nodded and looked expectantly at you. Seung Hyun turned around to look at you equally expectantly. Knowing you needed to make a decision quickly you said. "Strawberries and whipped cream, please."
Seung Hyun blinked slowly and said not a word. You let him pay for the waffles (you'd been paying back and forth all day) and walked a few steps away from the stand to a free picnic table. Once he joined you, the two of you ate in silence for a little while.
Then, with an unabashed grin, Seung Hyun held his waffle up for you to take a bite, which you did, if a bit reluctantly. It actually wasn't bad at all, if a little sweet for your taste. You preferred your own, though.
"Boring, ________." Seung Hyun sighed with mock disappointment when you told him as much, but still took a bite from your waffle when you offered, only to amend. "Good, but boring."
"At least I'm not going to be on a sugar high in three minutes.” you replied, unconcerned. “We can burn off our energy by going on there." you nodded towards the Black Hole 2000 roller coaster.
Oh, no. The last time Seung Hyun had been on that thing, when he'd been thirteen a couple of friends from school had dragged him along, he'd thrown up.
You laughed when he informed you why he'd suddenly gone pale in the face. "That's not going to happen again, is it? It would be a shame for all that good food to go to waste."
Seung Hyun couldn't even argue that, because most of it had been pretty good, for carnival food. "I think I'm more worried you are going to throw up." he returned. The two of you had been eating a lot.
"Please..." you scoffed. "I don't throw up unless alcohol is involved."
True to form, you didn't look even the slightest bit green in the face when you stepped off the roller coaster. Instead your face was bright, smile wide and cheeks flushed. "That was amazing!"you gushed. "Let's do that one next!" gesturing towards a machine the sole purpose of which appeared to be to toss the humans strapped into its seat up and down, twirling as it went.
"Sounds great." Seung Hyun said, determined to keep you looking that way, bright and incandescently happy, beautiful with it.
So you worked your way through the more adrenaline-laden rides. You took a couple of breaks for food and drink, sitting on a bench just as the sun started to set, painting the sky in bright orange and pink colors.
"Come on." you said suddenly, taking Seung Hyun's hand and heading for the Ferris wheel.
It was entirely cliché and Seung Hyun had absolutely no objection. He took a seat next to you in the two-seater car and captured your hand, twining his fingers with yours as you were slowly lifted into the sky. Seung Hyun slid the mask from his face so he could breathe in the crisp air. In the surrounding city lights had already begun coming on, the sky more pink and purple now as the sun slowly dipped below the horizon. It was a beautiful sight and Seung Hyun looked his fill, but then he glanced over at you. He was going to say something about how nice the view was, but the words died on his lips because you looked even more captivating than the cityscape ever could, no matter how pretty it was. You looked utterly content, eyes filled with a calm sort of wonder as you looked out at the city sprawled all around.
You gazed at the sights, and Seung Hyun gazed at you. Just as the car dipped past the highest point you turned toward him and went still. Your eyes widened a little, your breath audibly escaping past your lips in a gasp. Then you said, voice slightly hoarse. "If we were more romantic, this would be where our first kiss happened."
"If you were less irresistible, it might have been." Seung Hyun said. It was the first thing that came to his mind, but entirely true. He hadn't planned anything, but if he had, this was indeed how it might have happened.
"You're terrible." you complained playfully, and leaned in for your second kiss.
It was less tamed than the first kiss, but not wild per se. Your lips were soft and warm, not as sticky anymore but Seung Hyun would always be reminded of you whenever he tasted spun sugar, probably for the rest of his life. Now, your fingertips were on his jaw, tilting his face down, and he feels the tip of your tongue flick against his lower lip, wet and almost hot. It might not even be meant as an invitation but Seung Hyun couldn't resist it for a second. He opened his mouth to brush his tongue against yours, tasting the faint tang and sweetness and strawberries.
You didn't exactly turn wild and reckless with it, just brushed tongues for a second before pulling back, but a shiver ran through Seung Hyun anyway. He leaned in a little more towards you, felt you push back in return & flick your tongue out once more. Somehow your hands found their way to Seung Hyun's waist when he met your tongue with his own again, holding him close as Seung Hyun slung his arm around your shoulders.
The slight jolt as the wheel started turning again made you both startle. Seung Hyun had completely lost track of your surroundings and he blinked open eyes he didn't even realize he'd closed. He found you looking about as dazed as he felt.
"Damn." he rasped, blinking as he pulled back a little.
You silently agreed with the sentiment, nodding your head. You took a deep breath, and another, licking your lips and tasting Seung Hyun. All you wanted was to lean in and kiss him some more, but now that the real world was intruding you knew that you couldn't. You were about to reach the ground and have to get off the Ferris wheel.
You had sucked your lower lip into your mouth, white teeth digging into bright pink flesh, and Seung Hyun couldn't even look away from that, much less look around to see where the two of you were.
“Damn." you repeated his earlier assessment of the kiss, leaning in for a another that was there and gone again so quickly Seung Hyun couldn't really react. Then you leaned down towards the floor of the car to pick up Seung Hyun's baseball cap. He hadn't even noticed losing it. With a slightly rueful look, you put it back on his head as Seung Hyun put his mask back on.
Wordlessly, you both got out of the car when it was your turn and in silent agreement turned towards the exit for the amusement park. After a couple of steps you reached out and took Seung Hyun's hand. "So, it was probably good that wasn't our first kiss."
"Why?" he asked after a moment.
You threw him a look, then started walking backwards so you could look him in the eye. "Because the earth sort of moved and if it had been the first time, I would have always wondered if it was because it was actually moving. But nope, the first time we were on solid ground and still with the moving."
"Oh." Did that mean what Seung Hyun thought it did? It certainly sounded like it. He felt himself flush deep red.
The corners of your mouth quirked up and you looked at each other for a moment before you turned back around. But you still didn't let go of Seung Hyun's hand.
At some point he let go of your hand to sling an arm around your shoulders. He paid careful attention to see if you minded but you clearly didn't, glancing up at Seung Hyun from under your eyelashes as a faint smile played around your lips.
You didn't talk much as you walked back to the subway station... you didn't really need to. The silence between you was comfortable, feeling a little bit like a secret you shared, an agreement you'd come to. What it was Seung Hyun couldn't say, but he felt comfortable, like something had been settled. You kissed three more times on the way there.
When you got close to the entrance to the station, you looked at him. His face looked content, body language relaxed and loose. "When does your train leave?" you asked.
He shrugged "Doesn't really matter, there's one every ten minutes. Yours?"
You slipped the phone out of your pocket to check the time. "The next one is in three. Want to get some coffee?"
"Sure." Seung Hyun smiled faintly and, now that your hands were free, took your hand in his again. In silent agreement you headed towards a cafe & got coffee to go. You went down into the subway station and sat on a bench to drink the coffee while simply holding hands and passing the time with small talk.
"You're going to miss your train in a minute." Seung Hyun said with a grin after checking his phone.
Two minutes actually, but you didn't really care. You shrugged. "There will be another. I'll wait for the next one after you're done with your coffee."
"Aww, you're so sweet." he chuckled, but he looked honestly delighted and leaned in for a quick, coffee-flavored kiss.
"I think you're the sweet one here." you returned, licking the taste of caramel frappucchino off your lips. "You really have a sweet tooth, don't you?"
"I feel like I deserve a reward for going to the gym every day." Seung Hyun replied with an unrepentant shrug.
You only hummed in reply, letting your eyes slide down Seung Hyun's body. You couldn't imagine that you would care if he stopped going to the gym & didn't stop eating sweets, but he did look good.
"Alright. I have to get on my platform now, train's going get here in a minute." you smiled when Seung Hyun quickly got up as well. "So... I had a lot of fun today, this was great. Way better than I even imagined."
Seung Hyun couldn't even make a joke about being worried about what you had imagined, because he completely agreed.
"I had a great time too," he replied. For a second he wondered if he could kiss you goodbye, but then he decided that hell yes he could and leaned in to press his lips to yours.
It was the sixth kiss today, and it felt like a goodbye, maybe that was why it seemed more heated than any of the others. Or maybe it was because you were out of time. You leaned in eagerly, rising to the tips of your toes to be on the same level with Seung Hyun. He deliberately put one hand in the small of your back and leaned towards you. You opened your mouth when Seung Hyun did and welcomed his tongue, sliding inside just once before retreating like a promise as he pulled away.
Seung Hyun's expression was intense, eyes dark and heated as he stepped back. "We'll talk about our next date soon, yeah?"
"Yeah." you agreed immediately, lips tingling. You watched as Seung Hyun took one step back, then another, not taking his eyes off you until you finally turned around and strode off to your platform.
Seung Hyun watched until you were out of sight, vanished in the throng of people, and then stared in that direction for a while longer before he startled and hurried off for his own train.
Still in the train, he got a text from you. We should've had dinner! Why didn't we think of that?
Because when you kiss me I forget how to think. Seung Hyun replied, then immediately felt silly and ridiculous for it.
Except you wrote back, just one single word: ditto.
Suddenly he was filled with warmth instead of embarrassment, and he refused to feel silly for that.
At three am, Seung Hyun texted. I had a great day today.
You had an agreement about late night texts... the two of you would only reply if you were awake and in the mood for a conversation. If either of you texted and received no reply, it was understood that the other was asleep, no hard feelings.
You were woken up by the vibration of your phone on the bedside table. You sat up and took a sip of water from the bottle on the night stand, then replied a simple. Me too.
So I don't understand why I'm having a bad night. Seung Hyun wrote. Good day should mean good night right?
Even good things can be unsettling in their own way. you replied carefully. It's still a change, isn't it?
True... he agreed after a moment.
There was a picture attached to your last text, a photo you had clearly taken just now of yourself in bed, hair a mess. You were lying amid disheveled sheets, and the picture was in no way intentionally meant to be seductive. But the light was muted, dimmed, and you were wearing a soft-looking white shirt with a stretched out collar. It looked comfortable, intimate, and suddenly Seung Hyun wanted nothing more than to be right there with you, just so he could hold you close and tangle his fingers in your hair. You hadn't worn it down today so until this moment, Seung Hyun didn't realize how much he'd want to. Tangled up from attempts at sleep as it was now, your hair looked soft & it made his fingertips itch.
I want to touch your hair. he found himself writing before he realized it. He didn't delete the message though, and pressed send instead because what was the harm in telling?
In lieu of texting back, you called him. "That could be interpreted as the precursor to sexting." you said as soon as Seung Hyun picked up.
"I- what?" caught completely off-guard, Seung Hyun blinked at the ceiling in surprise.
Your chuckle was warm in his ear, soft. "No worries. Next time I'll wear it down so you can touch it if you want to."
"I do." he told you, deciding to ignore the whole sexting thing for now.
"So when do you want to meet up again?" you asked.
Seung Hyun could hear the rustling of sheets as you moved around in bed, and he saw the picture you just sent him as clear as day in front of his eyes. He really wanted to put his arm around you now and draw you close.
He got so derailed by his thoughts that he completely forgot that you asked him a question until there was stillness on the other line, and your voice sounded a little unsure all of a sudden. "Seung Hyun?"
"Oh!" Shit. "Sorry, I was distracted."
"By what?" you asked, not a demand but you didn't sound as soft anymore.
"By, uhm... I mean, I was thinking about your picture and I could hear you moving around and I was thinking, I want to be with you right now. Sorry." Grimacing, Seung Hyun pinched the bridge of his nose between thumb and index finger. He was such an idiot.
"Oh..." you said, then exhaled. "Okay. Yeah. I'd like that too. But, uhm, it's probably better if we do this at a slow pace, considering everything."
"Everything?"
"Well, I don't know about you, but I kinda... well I could get pretty attached. I'm fairly invested already. I'd rather not take things too fast." you explained quietly.
Seung Hyun couldn't really argue that. "I guess you're right. But that's not a bad thing, ________. I realize that there's a lot to take into consideration about being with me, so we can take this as slow as you want."
He felt giddy enough already just about the fact that you clearly thought as well that you were heading towards... something.
Relieved, you huffed into his ear. "Good. I'm glad we can agree on that.”
The rasp of your voice in his ear was something that would never lose its effect on Seung Hyun, but being physically with you turned out to be just as important. Not to fall in love... being perfectly honest, he'd been there before you had ever met, but to live that feeling to the fullest.
Seung Hyun was pretty lucky, he thought. So many things could have gone wrong. It could have turned out that you didn't get along as well in person, or that the chemistry felt wrong, or that the feelings just weren't there anymore, for one of you or even both of you.
But that wasn't how things had turned out, thankfully, and Seung Hyun was pretty grateful for it. He didn't think he was getting ahead of himself by considering you... something. You hadn't talked about it yet, not really, and maybe you should.
"I wanted to ask you something."
"Yeah?" you said, voice sounding serious. "What is it?"
Which was where Seung Hyun's brain ground to a halt. How was he supposed to put this? Could you just ask a person if they were your girlfriend? Was that even the correct term? It sounded sort of juvenile, didn't it?
"We're... friends." he eventually spat out, haltingly. "But we're also... dating, right?"
You blinked and sat straight up in bed. "Seung Hyun, are you asking me to be your girlfriend?"
"Uh. Yes, actually. That's the correct term, right?"
Relaxing again, you huffed a laugh."Yeah, unless you'd like a different term. And... I'd like that. If that's what you want."
"Yeah, yes, it is." Seung Hyun nodded quickly, feeling like his face was about to crack from smiling so wide. "And I don't know. girlfriend just sounds so... childish. What about being my 'best girl'?"
"Best girl?" you repeated, amused. "As opposed to all your other girls? At least I'm the best."
Flushing, Seung Hyun laughed. "Shut up. You know you're my only girl. Person."
You hummed in agreement."You're totally my best guy too. And my only guy. Person."
There was a teasing lilt to your voice, but it still took some effort for Seung Hyun to fake exasperation as he sighed and rolled his eyes heavenwards. He was too happy about what you had just agreed on.

Nothing To Prove // Nakamoto Yuta
-
the prompt: Hello I was wondering if you could do a yuta scenario where he’s dating a foreigner and she really wants to impress him and his family with a traditional Japanese meal and he offers to help but she wants to do it and he lowkey thinks it’s super cute how badly she wants to impress him and his family?
words: 1651
category: fluffy fluff
author note: This was the cutest request! I hope you like it; sorry the ending is so abrupt
– destinee
-
“Babe?” Yuta asked the moment he came into you and his shared apartment.
“I’m in here!” You called, your eyes never leaving the television.
Yuta kicked off his shoes and sat beside you, resting his cheek against your shoulder.
You could feel the lift of his cheeks as he smiled, “Guess what?”
“What?” You smiled back at him and paused the television.
“My parents are coming!” He grabbed your hand and cheered quietly, causing laughter to bubble out of your mouth.
“That’s great! When are they coming?”
“In three days,” he answered after taking out his phone to make sure he got the date right.
“Oh no,” you shot up, causing Yuta to fall against the seat of the couch.
“Y/n…” he whined, “Warn a guy next time, please.”
“Sorry,” you said. “But if I only have three days to prepare, I need to go shopping.”
“Why?” Yuta grabbed your hand and tried to pull you back down on the couch. “Can’t we just get takeout for them or something?”
“For your parents?” You scoffed. “No, Yuta, I should cook for them.”
Yuta rose an eyebrow at you. “Really?”
“Of course,” you sat back down, letting him cuddle up to you. “I have to prove to your parents that I can take care of you.”
Yuta exhaled serenely and grabbed your hand, brushing the pad of his thumb against it. “You don’t have to prove anything to them. I talk their ears off about how much I love you. They haven’t even met you and they love you just as much as I do. I promise.”
Your heart fluttered at Yuta’s words, but your determination got the better of you. “No, it has been decided. I’m going to make a traditional Japanese meal for your parents.”
Yuta could hear the resolution in your voice, so he choose not the argue.
-
The first thing you did in your preparation was call Yuta’s sister. As much as you wanted to do everything on your own, you wanted to know which dish you should prepare for.
“Katsudon and tonkatsu is pretty good,” she had said over the phone. “I’ll send you the ingredients and instructions over email. We add some extra seasoning that not many people put it in. Mom will be so surprised when she tastes them.”
“Okay, thank you so much!” You smiled, even though she couldn’t see it through the phone. Yuta’s sister had been a great friend to you even before you began dating her brother. This was just an example of how great a friend she could be.
“I wish I could be there! Katsudon is one of my favorite dishes and I know you will make it well.” Her words encouraged you.
You had made many different dishes, but most of the time Yuta was right beside you, helping you do it. Now, you wanted to make this meal independently, and the thought frazzled you just a bit.
After free buying the ingredients and driving home, Yuta helped you bring the grocery bags in.
Of course, he couldn’t help but peak at the ingredients as he set the bags on the counter.
“Yay! Katsudon!” He recognized the contents right away.
“With Tonkatsu– stop Yuta!” You interrupted yourself to scold him as he tried to bite off a piece of fresh onion.
He sent you a guilty smile and bit a piece off anyway.
“Why would you even eat a raw onion?” You chided him as he ran out of the kitchen laughing.
Rolling your eyes at your childish boyfriend, you got the ingredients out and set up your phone so that you could see the recipe.
“Can I help you with anything?” Yuta asked, creeping back into the kitchen.
He tried to reach for the eggs to help you, but flinched back as you slapped his hand away.
“Y/n!” He huffed. “I want to help you make it. My parents are coming in two hours and I’ll feel useless if I don’t help.”
You looked over at your boyfriend. He gave you puppy-dog eyes, which was a look he always showed you when he wanted something from you.
You gestured to the cabinet above his head, “You can set the table for me.”
“Okay,” he agreed. “Then can I help you fry the pork?”
“No.”
“What if you burn yourself?”
“I won’t.”
“What if–”
You stopped chopping the onions and pointed the knife at your boyfriend non-threateningly, “You’re lucky I let you set the table. Now stop bugging me.”
He gave you a mock salute, “Yes, Ma'am.”
-
The last helping of food had just been put in it’s individual bowl when the doorbell rang.
“Oh no,” You squealed, running to toss all of the dishes in the sink and wipe down the counters while your boyfriend ran to open the door.
“Relax, Babe!” Yuta called before opening the door.
You could hear the voices of your boyfriend’s parents before you saw their faces. When you did see their faces, you were comforted by their friendly smiles.
“Y/n,” they greeted you warmly.
You felt horribly nervous. This was your first interaction with Yuta’s parents. What if they didn’t like you? What if you made the dish wrong? What if they wanted Yuta to stop dating you?
Yuta seemed to notice your panic, so he moved beside you and placed a hand on the small of your back.
“Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Nakamoto,” you said, giving them an awkward smile.
“Guess what?” Yuta asked.
“What is it?” Mr. Nakamoto smiled.
His smile was the same as Yuta’s and it calmed you just enough to tell them about your work.
“I made you guys dinner!” You blurted out. “I mean, Katsudon and tonkatsu.”
Then, leaned closer to Yuta, “Did I pronounce that right?”
Yuta squeezed your sides as he whispered back sarcastically, “Are you seriously questioning your Japanese when you’ve taken two years of lessons since dating me?”
You blushed, “I sorta forgot.”
Yuta’s parents apparently heard the whole conversation because they started laughing.
“I love Katsudon,” Mrs. Nakamoto said, causing you to relax a bit. “I always put a few extra spices in the eggs myself.”
“Speaking of which,” you began to gain confidence, “I contacted your daughter and she told me about that. So I added them in. I hope you don’t mind.”
“Are you kidding?” She laughed, “I would love to tell you about all of my secret recipes whenever I have the time.”
Your heart warmed at the words, and you could see Yuta sending you a reassuring smile.
The four of you eventually sat down to eat before dinner turned cold.
You actually waited for everyone to take a bite of their dish before you felt comfortable enough to try your own. You watched each of their reactions, but they didn’t reveal whether they liked it or not right away.
Yuta’s hand rested on your knee from under the table. “This tastes great, Y/n.”
“Are you sure?” You took a bite. •It did taste pretty good.•
“This tastes almost similar to mine,” Mrs. Nakamoto said. “I only make this on special occasions so this is such a treat for us.”
“Y/n spent a lot of time on it,” Yuta said proudly.
“Did you help her?” Mr. Nakamoto asked his son.
“She wouldn’t let me do anything but set the table,” he answered honestly, side-eyeing you.
“Good, because you probably would’ve messed this up if you helped her on this.”
“I’m a good cook!” Yuta protested while you laughed.
“Sure,” you humored him. He knew you were only teasing him since he had proven many times to you that he was a good cook.
The table was filled with laughter at Yuta’s expense, especially after you asked to hear about his childhood stories.
Eventually, you forgot about your worries over the meal and enjoyed your time with Yuta and his family.
-
It was eight at night when the Nakamoto’s left. Yuta walked his parents outside to spend some alone time with them while you stayed inside to start on the dishes.
You had just placed the last bowl on the drying rack when you felt two strong arms wrap around your waist from behind.
“Hey, Yuta,” you mumbled. You turned around in his arms and reached up to peck him on the lips.
He grabbed your hips gently and lifted you onto the counter.
Leaning his forehead against yours tiredly and he muttered, “What did I do to deserve you?”
You smiled, “Must’ve been something good because I’m a catch.”
“Don’t boast,” Yuta teased, leaning closer to press his lips against yours.
You sighed contently against his lips and moved your hands to play with his hair.
“I love you,” he confessed after the two of you parted.
You jumped off of the counter and smirked at him, “I know.”
Yuta snorted and pulled you into a bear hug. “Say it back, Y/n.”
“Never,” you whisper-laughed.
Yuta squeezed you tighter, “But I love you…” he elongated the last syllable until you had to cover his mouth with your hands.
“Fine! I love you too, you dork.”
He released you and looked down at you with a serious gaze in his eyes, “Thank you for caring so much about me and my family. I hope you know that you never have nothing to prove to me or to them. You’re perfect just the way you are.”
“Thank you, Yuta. That means a lot to me,” you kissed your boyfriend on the nose.
He scrunched his nose up, “That tickles.”
“Sorry,” you giggled. “You’re perfect just the way you are, too, for the record.”
“You flatter me,” he said. “Now let’s go get ready for bed.”
“Thank goodness,” you sighed. The day had been long and you were more than ready to go to sleep for a thousand years.

Sugawara Koushi || Guilty
first year
The metal gates at the front of the school looked like they could have been oxidized copper, but she settled on the idea that they were just iron painted a greenish colour. The day wasn’t windy, but almost disgustingly bright. The pink petals of the sakura trees hung on their branches and she stopped to look at them before pulling her school bag back up her shoulder.
“Excuse me,” She tapped on the nearest person’s shoulder. “Would you happen to know where the first year opening ceremony is taking place?” He turned towards her, and her jaw clenched. He was almost strikingly handsome, but doubt replaced surprise as she thought it was just the lack of boys she had seen around her school.
His hair in the sunshine looked like silver, and his brown eyes blinked curiously at her. The soft lines of eyelashes led her eyes to the mole below his left eye that suited his soft appearance.
She knows this feeling all too well
She feels her heart begin to swell
Handsome stranger, you have made her insides turn to jelly
“Oh, are you a first year too?” he asked without hesitation. “I heard they’re setting up a stage in the courtyard here at the front. I’m just gonna wait here.” A nervous line formed upon his lips as he pursed them together. “Uh, I’m Sugawara.”
She silently stared at him and processed his words. “Ah!” He had introduced himself. “I’m [Last]. [Last] [First].”
“Sugawara Koushi.” He smiled, looking towards the middle section of the school. “So, [Last]? Right?” She nodded in confirmation. “Wanna wait here with me?”
“Sure.” They walked to the side of the courtyard and watched as people walked inside the school.
“Do you know anyone who’s coming here, [Last]?”
“Hm…” She thought for a bit. “My classmate from my elementary school said she’s coming. Her name’s Michimiya Yui.”
“Oh?” Sugawara placed his school bag on his lap. “My friend from middle school is attending here. We enrolled together.”
“What’s their name?”
“Uhh, Sawamura. I don’t know if he’d like to be introduced, though. He likes making a name for himself. Not so much when people talk bad about him. But no one likes being talked about badly, right?”
“Yeah, Suga. What the hell?”
The two felt chills run down their spines at the voice coming from behind them.
“Daichi?” Sugawara questioned fearfully.
“Don’t talk about me when I’m not around!” He pushed Sugawara aside and stepped in front of [Name]. “I’m Sawamura Daichi. Don’t hang around this punk, he’s super deceiving.”
Sawamura was almost as good looking as Sugawara, with his hair cut short and brown eyes darker than Sugawara’s. He was tanned, and his broad shoulders made him appear taller although only a few centimetres taller than Sugawara.
“Hey!” Sugawara pushed him over and stood up. “You’re the one who showed up late! What happened to you? You always yell at me for being late!”
“You’re not even in the right spot, stupid. All the first years are supposed to go to the boys’ gymnasium.” Daichi brushed his uniform off and straightened his collar.
“Even the girls?” [Name] asked, reluctant.
“From what I’ve heard.” He nodded his head towards the path to the gyms. “Let’s go?”
As they made their way to the boys’ gym, they found [Name]’s friend from elementary, Yui. She easily got along with Sugawara and Sawamura, and when she talked with [Name] it seemed like they were always best friends. Yui had gone to junior high with Sawamura, so she already knew him. The entrance ceremony went smoothly, and it seemed shorter than it actually was.
“Yui, what class are you in?” [Name] asked, curious.
“Class 1. You?”
[Name] sighed. “Class 3… I guess we’ll always have lunch time…” The girls were almost depressed to be separated when they were finally reunited.
“[Last]?” Sawamura walked up to her, and she looked towards him. “What class are you in?”
“Class 3. What class are you in, Sawamura?”
“I’m in your class.” He smiled. “Lucky, huh? How about we head to homeroom?”
“Sure. But what about Sugawara?”
“He’s in Class 2.” Yui sighed exasperatedly listening to them talk. “Let’s just hope we have good teachers.”
“Yeah…” The two of them set off in search of their homeroom, and an idea came into [Name]’s head. “Hey Sawamura,”
“Hm?”
“What club are you joining?”
“Volleyball.” He answered without hesitation, and she smiled.
“But how come you’re so confident?”
“I’ll get on. Even if I’m just on the bench, I’m pretty sure I’ll get on the team. We have a good coach too.”
“Did you come to Karasuno because of their volleyball club? I thought this place wasn’t a powerhouse anymore…”
“That’s not what matters, though. If we have a good team, I think we can build up our title again. I want to become captain when the year before us retires. I want to make a good team.”
She laughed. “That’s a good goal.”
She wondered if Sugawara was joining the team too.
“Suga!” [Name] called, rushing to the concrete steps outside the boys’ gym. “Did you see the results?”
“No! They put them up already?” He rushed to close his bento box but she calmed him down. “Did you see them already?”
“Yeah. I didn’t make the team.” [Name] and Yui tried out for the girls’ volleyball team, and Daichi and Sugawara tried out for the boys’ volleyball team. “Serves me right, I never tried it out until now.”
“You could always become a manager, you know.” He poked a sausage with his chopsticks and brought it to his mouth. “Come join our team! You get an excuse to look at boys.” He moved his eyebrows up and down, and she pushed him lightly.
“As if! Boys make me feel kinda weird, though. Awkward, maybe?”
“Then you can get more comfortable!” He leaned against the metal door. “It would be nice to see you if I was practicing in this gym each week before and after school…” He suddenly sat up straight, shocking [Name]. “Wait, but did I get on the team?”
“Yeah,” she laughed, “You and Daichi both.” He sighed in relief. “I saw that Azumane guy you were talking about in your class got on the team too.”
“Yeah?” He picked up a rice ball and shoved between his lips. “I kinda expected it. His spikes are really good. Honestly, they freaked me out at tryouts.”
She laughed and sat down beside her friend. “Where do you think Daichi is?”
“Probably caught in the lunch line.” He looked towards her as she unwrapped her bento box. “You guys are on a first name basis now?” She took a piece of her pork and put it in her mouth. “Hey, use your chopsticks.”
She chewed on the meat as she scrambled through her bag for the disposable chopsticks she packed that morning. “Aha!” she exclaimed, dragging the paper wrapped sticks from the black school bag. “I guess I just got kinda used to you calling him Daichi that I picked it up. He doesn’t seem to mind it either.”
“Hey, hey! Did you guys see the results for the volleyball teams?” Yui ran up to the two sitting quietly. “Are you alright?”
“We’re fine,” Sugawara answered quickly. “I didn’t see them, but [Name] told me about how I got on.”
“Damn, I thought I could’ve told you.” Yui smiled, sitting on the steel boundaries on the sides of the stairs. “Man, I wish these were concrete.”
“They’re not meant to be sat on, you know.” [Name] informed her friend, poking at her rice. “Come sit beside me, before you hurt yourself.”
“Guh, fine.” Yui brought herself down from the metal and fished her lunch box from her school bag. “Oh, you have tonkatsu. Why’d you put it in a bento box?”
“There weren’t any more containers,” [Name] whined. “Oh hey, you guys, I just remembered!”
“Hm?” Sugawara had just picked up his phone, in the process of unlocking it.
“But let’s wait for Daichi. I wouldn’t want to discuss something like this without him around.” She smiled, starting to eat quietly. Sugawara turned on a rock band he liked from his phone, tapping his feet to the beat.
Rustling of dried grass was recognisable to the three first years as Daichi walked toward the gym. “Hey, you started eating without me!” He walked faster.
“Hurry up! [Last] wanted to ask about something!” Sugawara called out to him, and Daichi took a seat on the concrete in front of his friends. “So, so, what was it?”
“The summer festival! Let’s all go together!” She smiled widely and clutched the smooth fabric of her skirt in her fists.
“That’s it?” Yui questioned her friend, stealing a piece of the pork cutlet from the bento box.
“I haven’t been to the festival for a while, so I thought it would be nice to go with you guys! Is that really bad?”
“[First], it’s just because you want to go to the festival with boys. Right?” Yui smirked, pulling at [Name]’s blazer sleeve.
“Ehhh?? No way!” [Name] pushed Yui, who was giggling uncontrollably.
“I mean, you went to an all girls’ middle school. It’s natural that you would try and fit around boys again. I remember, uh, in grade 5 in primary school you hung around guys a lot. Yeah? Maybe that’s just what I saw, I wasn’t too close to you after grade 3.”
[Name] was silent, a blush forming on her face.
“I think it would be a good idea.”
Three of them looked towards Daichi, who had spoken.
“Yeah? But we go every year.” Sugawara told his friend.
“But this year it’s with Michimiya-chan and [First]-chan, so it’ll be different. It’s nice to change it up a little.” Daichi looked straight towards [Name], whose blush got noticeably brighter. “I say we should go. [First] seems really enthusiastic about it. Right, [First]?”
“Y-yeah! We should all go together!”
Really, [Name] wanted to get to know Daichi and Sugawara better. Daichi and she were only on a first name basis since Daichi asked if it would be more comfortable. She only said yes out of politeness, but she felt a little uncomfortable with him throwing around her first name so casually like that. They were both strangers to each other.
That didn’t stop her from liking Daichi, though.
He was handsome, athletic, sweet, and considerate. He seemed like a leader amongst the four of them as well.
But what about Sugawara?
He was probably even more handsome than Daichi, just as athletic, just as sweet, just as considerate, and he carried himself with a sense of proudness that Daichi didn’t have. Even though he was usually mature, he could be impossibly childish sometimes. He was charming in such a different way than Daichi.
But [Name] liked Daichi. She had convinced herself that much.
“Ah, Daichi!” she exclaimed, suddenly going through her school bag. She pulled out a packet of soup base from a cheap instant ramen pack and a thermos. “Can you come with me to the hot water station? I want to drink this.”
Yui stared at her friend with disgust. Sugawara was utterly confused.
“Sure.” Daichi brushed off his pants, and walked with her inside to the cafeteria.
Once the couple was out of earshot, Yui turned to Sugawara. “Hey Suga, don’t you think those two like each other?” Sugawara seemed confused. He didn’t sense anything different with the two of them and how they behaved around each other, and Daichi hadn’t mentioned anything about [Name] other than anything they had both noticed.
“I don’t know. I don’t really see things like that unless they’re pertaining to me,” He answered plainly, then finished up his lunch. Yui watched him quietly as she finished her own quickly.
“Seriously?” Yui whined, leaning her head back against the metal door of the gymnasium. “You know, when I went to junior high with Sawamura he acted that way when he liked girls.”
“I seriously see no difference, Michimiya.”
“He hasn’t refused any of her offers before, and he’s backing her up on proposals! Like the summer festival, right?”
Sugawara thought about it. He had proposed the idea while they were partnered up at tryouts, and Daichi seemed hesitant about the idea. But maybe he was only accepting [Name]’s proposal because he had been thinking it over since he brought it up.
“I had already asked him before she brought it up.”
Yui puffed out her cheeks in defeat. “I swear, he acted like this in junior high too. Who did he like? Uhhh…. Akari, Hana, Sana… Kaito! Everyone knew when he liked Kaito, he acted seriously different because Kaito was a guy—”
“Hey, shh.” Sugawara covered Yui’s mouth. He could feel her face warm up slightly, but she cooled down they heard their friends talking.
“So, we should wear traditional clothes?” [Name] asked.
“Yes! Honestly, I think you would look great in a kimono.” She giggled, then sighed. “What about I text you after practice?”
“Sure. Sorry for bringing you with me to fill this up.” She walked around the corner, and he followed. Sugawara tried paying more attention to his friends.
[Name] was really trying to avoid eye contact with Daichi.
On the contrary, Daichi was looking at [Name] affectionately.
Sugawara’s chest tightened with unknown jealously. How did he not notice it before?
Though she wasn’t looking at him, she was smiling happily.
Handsome stranger, you have made her wonder if she’s pretty
“It’s fine, though I kind of thought you wouldn’t like it when I saw what brand it was.”
“Yeah?”
“It looks like it’s from a really cheap pack.”
“I guess so. It tastes nice with the noodles, though.” She sits back down on the concrete steps. Daichi reaches down into his bag, where he rested his bun. “So, are you guys up for the festival idea?”
“Sure, I’m good,” Yui spoke. “I don’t think we would have practice if a festival was going on.”
“I mean, for us, it might be different since we have Ukai coaching us,” Daichi said. “Suga? What about you?”
“I’ll see. It depends if I can find any traditional clothes at home.” Suga smiled, then stood up. “I’m going to go to class now, okay? Daichi, see you at practice later.”
“Uh, yeah!” Daichi called out after Suga. “What’s with him?”
Sugawara kept feeling the tight painful feeling in his chest and figured it must be about [Name] and Daichi, so he left.
He didn’t want to cause himself pain he didn’t need.
“Daichi,”
“Yeah?”
The two boys slid down one of the cold walls of the gym. “Do you like [Name]?”
Daichi laughed, squirting water into his mouth from the plastic bottle in his hand. “Where’d you get that idea?”
“It’s just…” Sugawara bit his lip, looking at the lines on the gym floor. “You were looking at her weirdly at lunch. It’s like she’s hypnotized you or something.”
“I mean, [Name] is beautiful. I was just admiring her,” Daichi turned to his friend. Sugawara turned his attention to Azumane, who was sitting down by the wall opposite the two of them. “What, Suga, are you jealous?”
“Of what?” Sugawara scoffed.
“That I like [Name]?”
“Nah, I was just wondering.”
“Well, I dunno. Maybe I do. What do you think?”
Sugawara looked at Daichi. “What do you think of her?”
“Um,” Daichi top another sip from his water bottle, then looked at Azumane, who was cooling off. “She’s pretty.”
“What else? You can’t be so materialistic if you want to spend time with someone like her.” Why was he convincing his friend that he liked someone?
“She’s funny. She’s fun to be around, and she’s pleasant to talk to. She’s refreshing, clumsy, and romantic.”
“Romantic?”
“Literature really sparks discussion from her.” Daichi smiled pleasantly and Sugawara couldn’t help but wonder what he was thinking of. “Hey, should we talk to Azumane?”
“Huh?” Daichi was standing up and walking to Azumane before he could process what his friend had said. “Hey, Daichi! What gives?!”
[Name] came to the festival within the first half hour, but the venue was completely packed.
“Whoa.” Lanterns were strung in between different booths, and the majority of the people were dressed in traditional clothes.
“Hey, [First]!” Daichi called for her from a few booths ahead, and he was waving his arms. Yui was already beside him. “Over here!”
“Coming! Give me a second!” She able to weave herself through the crowd. “Did you guys get anything?”
“I was thinking of getting chocolate covered bananas from the yatai over there.” Yui pointed to a stall diagonal from them. “But we can try playing some games first before getting food!”
“Yeah, we might get sick we push ourselves after eating.” [Name] smiled as Yui ran off to a ball scooping stall. “Daichi, do you know if Suga’s coming?”
“I don’t know. He hasn’t texted me since the start of May. How about you?”
“I could text him now. I wonder why he hasn’t been texting you…” She pulled out her phone.

Hey, are you coming to the festival today? O_o
Sugawara reached for his phone from his bed, almost dropping it with the loose grip he had on it. He glanced at the notification, and threw the covers off.
He completely forgot about the festival.
He threw open his closet door and stared at the kimono he had prepared. It would take too long to put on nicely…
It would be hard to see [Name] and Daichi having fun together anyways.

Just send me a picture of your kimono!!!!!! I really wanted to see how you looked tonight haha
“He forgot…” [Name] said sadly. She showed Daichi the texts.
“I’ll take the picture for you.” He smiled, and held his hand out. “He wants a picture, right?”
“Ah! Sure, here.” She handed him her phone, and she quickly smiled. “Thanks, I’ll send it now.”
Sugawara went to school the next day and it felt like his nightmares were coming true.
Daichi and [Name] got together after Yui left, and ended up confessing to each other.
Confessing.
They were a couple now, and it was hard for Sugawara to accept that two of his close friends were together. It was hard to accept that his own crush was dating his best friend.
He wouldn’t say anything, though.
Why should he? It was his friends’ decision, not his.
It wasn’t his place to tell them what to do and what not to do, even if just seeing the two of them together would hurt him.
He wished it could be the same as before, the moment he saw her.
He could tell she liked him.
There was some sort of mutual admiration they both had for each other at that point, and he wished it could still be the two of them, engrossed in each other.
Am I the only one wishing life away?
Never caught up in the moment, busy begging the past to stay?
second year
[Name] and Daichi’s one year anniversary was coming around, and Sugawara had numbed to the pain he felt when he was around [Name] and Daichi.
They broke up a week before the day of their anniversary.
Knocking rapped at Sugawara’s door, Daichi was behind it.
“Daichi? It’s 10:00.” Sugawara had just washed his face and still had his headband in his hair. “What’s up?”
“Could I talk to you?” Daichi’s tone was quiet, and a crack in his voice at the end of his sentence could indicate the pain his friend was feeling.
“Come in.” Sugawara pulled on his friend’s wrist, bringing him inside the house. “Ma, Daichi’s here!” His mother acknowledged Sugawara’s declaration through a loud hum from the kitchen. The two boys made their way up the stairs and into Sugawara’s room.
“What happened?” Sugawara asked him.
“Me and [Name]…” Sugawara was expecting some sort of prank from Daichi, waiting for some sort of achievement or announcement.
“We broke up.”
Bells were going off in Sugawara’s mind, serving as a warning, but also as a celebration. He didn’t know how to react, but Daichi didn’t seem to know about his feelings regarding [Name].
“Daichi, I…” Sugawara tried speaking, but he was scared he would say something wrong.
“We were thinking about it anyways. It didn’t seem stable anymore, and the feelings that were there weren’t there anymore. It was going to happen anyways.” Daichi’s words seemed like he was just pushing everything away, and Sugawara knew from his unstable tone that Daichi hated the feelings he had pushed away. “It felt right when I was doing it but… Afterward it just… Hurts.”
That’s how I’ve felt for a year, he wanted to say. He kept it inside.
“What did she say?”
“…She doesn’t feel the same way anymore. I mean my feelings feel so dull now, but now that we’re not together anymore it feels so dull, Suga.”
I know how you feel.
“What should I do?”
“…You could cry.”
“What?”
“It helps me.” Sugawara stared blankly at the wall across from him.
Daichi wanted to ask him what it helped him with, then he realized.
“I’ll try that.” He smiled at his friend, tears already starting to build up. “I should go, Suga. Thanks.”
“Do you want me to bring you chocolate ice cream and movies tomorrow?” he joked.
Daichi laughed. “Sure. See you tomorrow?”
“See you.” He smiled. Daichi got up and left the house, and Sugawara watched and waved through his bedroom window as his friend left. He quickly closed the curtains, adorning a bittersweet smile.
Ding!
Ding!
“Hm? Is it Daichi?” Suga walked to his phone that was sitting on the blue sheets of his bed.

Can I call you?
Sugawara stared at his phone. Should he reply? It was the one girl who had gone past the stage of just being a crush, and that he could be free to love now.
He couldn’t help but feel guilty as he unlocked his phone to go to the messenger.

Winter 2018 Anime Season
What I’m watching:
Hakata Tonkatsu Ramens is easily my favorite new show of the season. I can’t think of anything else that even comes close. The show has very attractive character designs, cool music (that ending theme gives me Cowboy Bebop vibes), and an overall stylish, frenetic feel that puts me in mind of a less crazy Durarara!!. The show touches on some surprisingly dark topics but so far has never been exploitative and keeps a mostly lighthearted tone. The characters are a lot of fun, especially in the way they all connect and interact. It should also be noted that there is very obvious sexual tension between the two male leads, yet it doesn’t feel at all like fanservice or yaoi bait. Instead it feels like a natural part of their growing friendship. The whole cast is interesting. This has to be the nicest group of assassins, information brokers, and torturers I’ve ever seen. This is hands down the show I look forward to the most every week. At the top of my watch list.
Dagashi Kashi Season Two was a bit of a surprise. I didn’t realize season two was coming out now until it popped up on Crunchyroll. I was pretty excited too, because I really enjoyed season one and adored the heroine, Hotaru. I even have a figure of her. I was drawn to Hotaru because she was so entertaining. She’s beautiful, yes (easily one of the top five most beautiful anime ladies, in my opinion), but she’s funny, persistent, and big hearted. Okay, gushing about Hotaru aside, season two is a bit different. For one, the episodes are now half the length of regular anime episodes. This works okay, since season one typically had two self-contained stories per episode. Another difference is that the animation quality seems to have dropped a little. It’s not a huge deal, but it’s noticeable. The third thing is that the Hotaru fanservice has become a lot more overt, which is particularly disappointing for me as a fan of her character. Season one had some fanservice, yes (Hotaru has fairly large breasts), but it was more subtle and a lot funnier. Season two, inspired by the heaps and heaps of pervy Hotaru merchandise that’s come out since season one, has decided to focus a lot more attention on how bouncy her boobs can be. It’s annoying, but it doesn’t make the show unwatchable, so it still has a solid spot on my watch list.
Sanrio Boys is one of two cute, feel-good shows this season (I’ll get to the other one later). It’s basically a “cute boys doing cute things” show with BL undertones that is apparently sponsored by Sanrio, as each boy has a favorite Sanrio character that they’re associated with. The show could have gotten by on being cute and fluffy and I probably would have watched it that way just because I like cute things and have a fondness for Sanrio myself. Thankfully, the show puts in the extra effort to have likable, relatable characters with interesting back stories explaining their connections to their favorite Sanrio characters. A couple of these stories literally made me cry. The friendship between the five main characters is very sweet and comforting. I also have to wonder if some of the stuff in this show is meant to be one big metaphor for being a gay youth. The main character lives in shame and denial about his love of Sanrio because “boys shouldn’t like stuff like that”. He fears being rejected by his classmates, because he was made fun of and bullied in the past over his interests. He even tries to help another character avoid being “outed” as a Sanrio fan before realizing the other boy is open and unashamed about his hobbies. A big part of the series is about him growing to accept himself and the things he likes and gradually opening up to others about it. The theme of the show seems to be, “don’t try to deny who you are, be true to yourself even if that means some people will judge you and reject you”. That’s a very positive message cloaked in Sanrio product placement.
Darling in the Frankxx is this season’s garbage guilty pleasure show. It has attractive art, nice animation, excellent music (that ending theme is so. freaking, good.), an interesting setting, and some truly awesome mecha battle scenes. Which would all come together to make one of the top shows of the season, if the show didn’t have some seriously ridiculous and laughable fanservice that very badly distracts from all the cool stuff. Let me just describe the cockpit situation in these mechs. Each mech must be piloted by a pair of one boy and one girl (typical of shows like this, homosexuality doesn’t seem to exist in this world). The boy sits in the seat. The girl is positioned in front of him, facing forward, on her knees, with her ass in the air, practically shoved in the boy’s face. But it gets better! Weird metal handlebar-looking things are attached to the girl’s skin-tight outfit and spring up on either side of her ass for the boy to hold onto. All together, it literally creates the image of the boy riding the girl like a freaking motorcycle. Without even getting into how ridiculously impractical this setup is (wouldn’t the girl get extremely sore and uncomfortable while trying to stay on her knees on the hard metal cockpit floor during longer battles? Wouldn’t a hot girl’s barely-clothed ass in a teenage boy’s face be extremely distracting when he’s trying to fight monsters?), just the image alone is completely absurd. I could be extremely generous here and say the writers/animators were trying to create some sort of metaphor for how these kids are being exploited by the adults and how their budding sexuality relates to the mysterious process of becoming adults (the show strongly hints that they don’t simply grow naturally into adults). But... it looks like the boys are riding the girls like motorcycles, so nah, I’m not gonna be that generous. The show tries and fails to come across as a serious, thoughtful sci-fi story, which is a shame because it might have had more success in that area if not for the stupidity I’ve outlined above. For now, I’m still watching because it does actually have some good qualities that I enjoy. But it’s pretty much at the bottom of the list.
Killing Bites is another show with fanservice, but it does fanservice right. The chicks are badass (and none of them have the bodies of eleven year old girls, thank God) and, so far, all of them are totally okay with their skimpy clothes and actually seem to feel empowered by them. These ladies enjoy being sexy, and use it to their advantage. There was a problematic scene in episode five but it did reach a satisfying conclusion. The show is action-packed, with fun battles between (generally attractive) people who can transform into animal-human hybrids. The show has plenty of humor as well. It’s nothing too deep or tightly plotted, but it’s good brainless fun.
Dame X Prince Anime Caravan is a super cute and fun otome series, one of the most entertaining ones I’ve seen in a few years. This is primarily because the heroine is refreshingly practical and proactive. She’s not a simple audience-insert who gets passed around between the guys. Instead she’s a spunky, no-nonsense rural princess who is well aware of how absurd her situation is. The guys are such over-the-top caricatures that it’s hard to root for any of them to win her heart. What results is a rare otome series in which you’ll be much more interested in the heroine than any of her suitors. That’s not to say the guys are boring. They’re actually pretty fun characters, and their interactions with the princess are hilarious. The art is very pretty and the music is cute, making this a very watchable show.
School Babysitters is the other sweet, feel-good series I mentioned above. How you feel about this show will depend entirely on how you feel about children (or at least children in anime). The bulk of the series is about an orphaned teenage boy and his little brother, and the school where the older brother is allowed to attend for free if he works after school in the on-campus daycare room to help babysit the teachers’ children. It’s absolutely adorable and heartwarming and is designed to make you say, “Awww!” as often as possible. The show can be really funny at times, and can get surprisingly deep as well. One short scene was absolutely devastating to watch if you’ve ever lost a loved one (and probably even if you haven’t). It was just a quick, simple scene and yet it instantly had me crying my eyes out. Despite this, the general tone of the show is lighthearted and positive. A couple of the kids can get a little annoying (just like real kids...) but never to the point that you’ll want to turn it off. High on my watch list.
Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru Season Two is more enjoyable for me personally than season one. When writing about the first season, I mentioned that I wished the show had focused more on the sword battles and the action than on the cute slice of life stuff. Well, last year’s Katsugeki/Touken Ranbu must have quenched my thirst, because the sweet, funny antics of the sword boys in Hanamaru seem much more entertaining to me now. The art is of course very nice, as per usual. The backgrounds and outfits are still gorgeous. There’s still a healthy dose of poignant melancholy mixed in with the fluff (mostly dealing with the sword boys’ lingering loyalties to their former masters and their inability to change those masters’ fates despite being able to travel back in time). My favorite is Kiyomitsu, who paints his nails every day in an attempt to be cute, which would sound funny and a bit superficial if you didn’t know he was doing this because of his deep-seated fear of being rejected and abandoned by his new master. Despite these sad little moments, the show is by and large a sweet, comforting experience.
