#more of why we dont like bleach after soul society

Bleach. I absolutely love Bleach. It has some of the best relationships in anime. Surprising no one, I think early Bleach was expertly done. Also surprising no one, I think it got weaker and weaker as it continued. The idea of hollows all having spanish/Mexican themes was cringe. It's only made better by humanizing the arrancar. Chad, the half Mexican character having hollow powers without insinuating Orihimes powers as hollow based increased the cringe.

I actually like the fights in Hueco Mundo for the most part. Just a few things led to the deterioration of the show. Orihime deciding on a mission in Hueco Mundo was promising for her character, but it was dropped completely. She should have insisted on returning to Karakura with Ichigo. Uryuu, Chad, and Renji were injured badly, so it made since for them to stay behind, especially Renji since he would fall victim to Aizen's illusions. Orihime and Rukia on the other hand should have gone. Neither would have fallen victim and could have been useful. Having another healer is always helpful, especially one with shielding capabilities. Rukia and Ichigo work well together, and neither would fall victim and I guarantee he wouldn't freeze about motives with her there. I'll get into that in a moment. I understand the need to show ichigo and his father having a moment, but the idea he couldn't with them there is ridiculous. Also making aizen plan ichigos conception is to much. All knowing villains are great, but you can't push them that far. Ichigo wondering why he's there all of a sudden is beyond stupid. This guy tried to kill his friends, there should be no freezing up. Have Orihime and Rukia go with Rangiku. Rangiku can have her moment with Gin, while they save their friends and hold off Aizen after gin fails until Ichigo gets there. Rukia gets majorly injured, Ichigo shows, giving him that final push to use final getsuga, while Orhime and Tatsuki get her, and others to safety. That would also give Tatsuki that explanation on screen. Once Aizens defeated, have Orihime use her power to eliminate the hogyoku like foreshadowed.

That would have rounded out Orihimes character much better. And utilized Rukia more. Maybe their friends join them while they are fending off Aizen. Just a thought. Just a little thought on where Bleach went wrong. I still love it. That doesn't mean I don't wish it went a bit differently. No I don't have a scenario for the final arc...that's a whole other monster.

Maybe you've answered this before, but which of the bleach movies are you favorites? Do you like them in general? I feel like I've watched the DDR 100 times, but the movies aren't really talked about much in general it seems....

Neither of us really think about them as discrete "movies"—we take them more as a collection of elements, many of which we find very appealing. I think we’ve rewatched them almost annually since 2020, but I’m not sure either of us could actually explain to you what happens in them. We’re too distracted by the dazzling glamor of the Elements.

I will say, like you, Diamond Dust Rebellion holds a special place in my heart! It was the only one that premiered during my first stint with Bleach, and I definitely have vague but fond memories of watching a raw copy on an 11" iBook that I assume was approximately 120p.

Here are my personal favorite Elements from all the Bleach movies—some of which are scenes, some of which are character moments, and some of which are honestly… the laundry lint equivalent of "things that were part of this movie" that I still really love because, as this post will immediately make clear, I have serious Blorbo Disease.

MOVIE 1: Memories of Nobody

1. Commuting: Honestly obsessed with the fact that Hitsugaya and Matsumoto spend so much of this movie commuting. They just keep… going back and forth between dimensions? AND FOR WHY. Peak Gotei efficiency!

2. Bridge Whimsy: The scene where everyone jumps off the bridge into the water and are super duper extra about it. @dont-look-up has a great gifset of Renji and Rukia trying out for the Soul Society Diving Team. 

Hitsugaya and Matsumoto are also great in this scene. They’re both crouched in the same nook of bridge for some reason? And when Matsumoto encroaches on Hitsugaya’s space he wordlessly moves her arm out of the way and it’s so casual and non-eventful. Love that for them but also love that for the animation, because it’s an "unnecessary" non-eventful movement that got to be drawn and animated. You can’t have unscripted movement in this medium—it adds nothing and everything! Unfortunately, searching "bridge" on B3 didn’t turn that gifset up, so it wont’ be includd in this post.

3. Blobby Hisagi: Speaking of animation, Hisagi basically only appears in this movie as a blobby smudge of color in the background. My co-blogger put together a comprehensive account of every time Hisagi shows up in this  movie, and it is a post I love dearly.

* Honorable mention to the kidou cannon, which comes up a lot in conversation, considering how little reason there is to do so. But THE KIDOUUUUU CANNONNNNN

MOVIE 2: DiamondDust Rebellion

1. LAWSON TRUCK!!!!

There’s a transition scene where a Lawson truck randomly drives by and I am OBSESSED with it. I mean, I love Lawson, which is a Japanese convenience store chain. But most of the stores/brands in Bleach are either generic or made up, as is true of many anime. Yet there’s a real, honest to god Lawson Truck in this movie. It makes me wonder if there was some kind of Lawson promo that went with DDR’s release. Anyway, I see you, Lawson Truck. I love you.

2. Hitsugaya's Bow: After finding himself in Ichigo’s bed after passing out in the forest outside Karakura (and, one assumes, bleeding all over his sheets), Hitsugaya leaves without a word in the dead of night. But he still takes the time to bow at the Kurosaki house, as thanks for its hospitality. I love this quiet, quotidian gesture in the midst of a whole lot that is neither quiet nor quotidian. 

3. DETECTIVE BYAKUYA. BYAKUYA, ON THE CASE. This is best explained by my earlier post about this.

It’s best dramatized by the second music video I’ve ever made in my life, a tribute to Detective Byakuya and Law and Order: Soul Society.

4. Hisagi/Kira vs. Hitsugaya is one of my favorite short fights (maybe one of my favorite fights, period??) in Bleach. Hisagi gets to be incredibly cool and use a bunch of kidou and backflip onto a torii gate. Hisagi and Kira are then immediately annihilated by Hyourimaru’s shikai once Hitsugaya decides he doesn’t have enough HP left to deal with this shit, but Hisagi and Kira were very cool up until that point!

I’m certain Hitsugaya is capable of annihilating Hisagi and Kira whenever he wants, but I do want to note that it wasn’t exactly a fair fight. Hisagi and Kira didn’t want to hurt him, particularly since he was already heavily injured. Hitsugaya, uh, did not have similar qualms.

5. ZABIMARU EXPREEEEEEEEEEEESS

MOVIE 3: Fade to Black

1. Byakuya Discovers Doors: One day I’m gonna get it in gear and make a gifset for this, because this scene is the BEST THING THAT’S EVER HAPPENED TO ME IN MY LIFE. There’s a full sequence of Byakuya combing through the Kuchiki Estate and opening every single door. Just walking around. Opening all the doors. In the dead of night.

And OKAY, the context for this is that he’s in Detective Byakuya mode; he can sense that something is amiss but isn’t able to discern what—he’s searching for anything that will help the missing pieces fall into place. (The missing piece is Rukia’s entire existence.) But it’s not like he tells any of his retainers this so for all they know he’s just going around opening all the doors in the dead of night, and they have to quietly follow behind him and close them all, murmuring, "ah yes, our Lord Byakuya, always working. Very thorough examination of doors and hinges tonight." I love him.

2. Hitsugaya is 11th Division's Foster Captain: Hitsugaya is working with Ikkaku and Yumichika in this movie for some reason—like, goes out to Inuzuri with them, even as he’s left Matsumoto behind to do work with their actual division. This is important to me only because it’s not the only time he’s been the 11th’s foster captain?? I’m not even talking about the Advance Team arc, which is something else entirely. In the Bount arc, when Zaraki is similarly indisposed/unreachable, Hitsugaya also ends up in charge of the 11th. Like, who decides this???

Anyway thank you, whatever bureaucratic processes makes this happen over and over again; I appreciate you. I’m sure Hitsugaya Suffers every time. (But he also probably prefers this over any other option, because the second option is probably just "idk 11th go freeball it do whatever you want!!". Also, Hitsugaya is always volunteering for this stuff.)

MOVIE 4: Hellverse

Okay, we just saw this movie (well, we just saw all of them, but this one was last!), but I’m not remembering a lot of it right now because it’s low on Blorbo Disease triggers. I do very much enjoy the Six Hearts gang running around in Squarespace (Hell)!! But this post is very long, so I’ll just say:

1. Byakuya Projecting by offering his fairly lengthy opinions about Ichigo and Yuzu, considering he’s known of Yuzu’s existence for about 2 seconds and she has been bereft a soul and comatose the entire time. 

2. Why is Hitsugaya even here, edition 90009: I love the fact that Hitsugaya is part of this Hell Portal team at all. Byakuya and Ukitake make some sense, in that Rukia and Renji are the Gotei officers most involved with this. But why is Hitsugaya there lol. I like to think that he thought it would be a good opportunity to learn about portals, and considers this professional development.

what are ur thoughts on each bleach arc o: like quality wise!

oh boy this got longer than expected. Whoops.

substitute arc: i rlly like this arc! its short but i love how it sets up the characters and i adore the integration between ichigos human life vs shinigami life And i like the monster of the week set up its a fun and its a lot more character focused in the beginning. the fights were very character driven, like with grand fisher, sora, the hollow that went to hell. all the fights felt like they had a meaning that had a strong impact on a character, like ichigo having closure after defeating (he should have killed him tbh) grand fisher.

soul society: one of the best if not the best arcs imo. theres a good amount of development, the fights are good and have emotional weight (ichigo v byakuya, uryu v mayuri, chad v shunsui, yoruichi v soi fon) and the newly introduced characters are interesting! very iconic and cool! there was a lot of character arc conclusions? Closure? like with uryu and yoruichi as well as rukia. the characters are a strong point here too and the introduction of soul society brought in world building and it was something we really needed to see. soul society as the villains was pretty good and it did show them as a threat. its a good arc and had a good cliffhanger ending to the next arc

arrancar arc: its a pretty good arc but this is where i feel like bleach was starting to fall off in quality since kubo didnt plan for the series to go past ss. like the plot was a little repetitive with the rescue arc the placing was pretty bad and its where the kubos problem of having too many characters started forming. there are some pretty good moments though, i really love the ichigo vs grimmjow and ichigo vs ulquiorra fights along with rukia vs aaroniero (rukia development time,,). the arc just felt pretty slow at times ig? But there are some very good moments

fake karakura arc/deicide: i like this arc even though i know half of it was bullshit. there are some good fights, soi fon vs barragan is one of my faves bc her bankai and it was just interesting to see the captains more involved even though i wish they didnt just stand there. like cmon the fate of the world is at stake gang up on ppl u have numbers. i do think its bullshit to have aizen be That powerful (i will excuse the hogyoku use bc thats his trump card and was set up) but having him take down everyone like that was eh. like i know it was meant to show how powerful aizen was but honestly i wish there was a better way. maybe make them all fight amongst each other like with momo but its all mind games and shit i feel like that was a better way of showing how strong aizen was. also speaking of aizen i wish there was more character to him like take away his manipulative badass thing and its just nothing. what drives him to kill the soul king and why? was it loneliness (which is a poor motive tbh), injustice? what brought him on this path? i feel like tousens goals had more to it then aizen tbh

the deicide arc was pretty okay i love mugetsu but im sorry there was absolutely no lead up to him. i love that form but its pretty bullshit that it didnt get as much as a mention in the past and i wish it did bc that would have made mugetsu have a lot more impact. i remember how ppl theorized that it was how isshin lost his powers even though it was proven otherwise but i wish they went with that. but i did like seeing zangetsu again and that touching moment with him and ichigo was good also the rukia and ichigo goodbye was very emotional. was it a good arc? maybe not plot wise but its pretty beloved

fullbringer: oh this is where the quality definitely dropped which sucks because i feel like this arc had a very interesting premise and plot set up. i know that i havent watched/read all of the fb arc but i do know enough of it just not much in between the beginning and end. i wish that the fullbringers had more focus bc they were all forgettable except maybe riruka and they should have had more screentime and the concept of fullbringers is genuinely interesting?? humans with hollow powers is a good concept and its a shame kubo didnt expand upon this more

oh and i have some beef with the villains bc its a fucking tragedy of wasted potential. ginjo is like. almost there to be considered a good villain. hes the previous substitute shinigami and u only bring it up at the end?? thats such a huge chunk of information and it sets up a connection between ichigo and ginjo. idc about tsukishima he can be whatever but i do think ginjo could have been a pretty good villain if he wasnt as blatantly evil. like i know the betrayal schtick is getting old but i would have preferred him as a villain with good intentions, like having him against soul society is a good motive bc ss commits war crimes but it was never clear in this arc (aside from ss monitering the substitutes) but it just didnt feel as strong as a motive to make him do what he did.

one good thing i do have to say about this arc was i do like ichigo in this arc and how much conflict he experiences and we get to see him commit murder although i do wish this had repercussions on him. i feel like soul society’s intervention was unnecessary but thats just me. the fullbringer arc being centered around humans was a good idea, bringing the series back to its roots and i just wish we spent more developmemt with the humans before jumping back to soul society, like more time on the aftermath of the last arc. also this arc should have been the chad arc im dying on this hill.

tybw: wow! this was a trainwreck of an arc! i have. So Many issues with tybw and its where kubos writing weaknesses truly shine. the biggest issues are its pacing which is absolutely abhorrent and it takes up at least a third of the entire series (literally. tybw had 206 chapters out of 686 since tybw officially starts on 480). we had periods where the main cast dont show up for like. 50 chapters. the other biggest problem were the characters. why did kubo think it was a good idea to introduce 26+ characters. why. there is absolutely no time to develop them and while some may receive screentime the majority have no impact to the plot beyond their fights with the characters we actually care about. there is no reason for people to give a shit about them. i can barely remember their names, much less their backstories

and one of the bigger problems was the antagonists themselves. they have a motive and while i understand hatred towards soul society. yhwach’s motives were the worst out of all the villains. i cannot fathom what motivates him because it went fucking everywhere. did he have beef with ss? was he waging war out of self preservation? did he want to end death? like the narrative hints at all of these but it just feels like a mess of a character! i never liked yhwach to begin with since his very concept is awful (seriously? giving a previously thought group of people who experienced genocide a nazi motif? what the fuck kubo). hes a villain but theres no substance. his powers could have been cool but it was on the point of needing a deus ex machina to take him down.

and the fights are forgettable with the occasional good ones (shunsui v that one fuck, rukia v that other fuck) but there are some bad fights (askin v yoruichi, the quincy thor guy). there are some good moments, like all the bankai reveals, it adds more to the characters but it also causes so much jumping around in the plot and this is what happens when u have this many characters and some will be forgotten (so sorry chad). it sucks. some of the fights dragged on longer than necessary and it was just. so much. all of these issues really downgraded the arc and thats what made it the mess it was.

and a lot of the ideas brought in to tybw are criminally underused. ichigo being a quincy may have been wack but i did like the idea but it really only had some sparse moments like masaki and zangetsu development, creating a connection between ichigo and yhwach but that was really it. it was not like his hollow powers which coexisted with the plot and had huge moments and was just a constant presence. you could forget that ichigo was a quincy tbh and we needed more quincy moments. and the soul king was horribly underused because it did have set up from the arrancar arc, it was aizens entire goal! but kubo never really explores the ideas of the soul king and only in cfyow do we really get more info about it and thats no good because the soul king is a vital piece of bleach lore and worldbuilding.

Not to be a mom or anything but I think children soldiers is a scary thought and this shoud be avoided in products made for kids and young teenagers, aka:

Team 7, Naruto: 12 yo, trained to protect and kill, with their own trauma (killed family, being rejected by own society for something that is not his fault and being in love because yeah the only typical 12yo attitude in the manga is shown as ridiculous and outdated)

Bleach, Ichigo: 15, though he likes to dismantle everything he finds bad about it, he is still used by the Soul Society for fighting purpose even if it means destroying him physically and psychologically.

Bleach: Toshiro: physically 10, not presented as otherwise until the almost end. Shown as having great intelligence, losing friends and families to conflict and general banalisation of the "adult kid" who s accepted as doing adult stuff

Bleach, Yachiru: Presented as a 5 yo or so, shown in the care of the (coolest, dont get me wrong) barbarian, herself being scary to others because she is dangerous herself, fortunately not used as a soldier, but written down as a lieutenant.

Bleach, Nell: Presented as a baby, shes so cute ffs, although she is a grown adult irl. Turned as a kid because of a trauma that left her with amesia and degrowth. She gets back to her attacker, to fight him and transforms into a big pair of boobs with horns, who loses almost immediately because her trauma kicks in again. Of course it does, Bleach should have psychotherapist sessions not holidays on the beach, Nell was done dirty lemme tell you, she did not deserve this, just like almost every female character in it.

But there s also Ishida, 15, whos a quincy soldier, trained by his own father, who really have a hard time accepting being a single father because he is the Snape of Bleach. Tortured by own father to regain spiritual power and then forced to take part in a war he doesnt not want to.

Now to change subjects, video games:

My childhood favorite: Ff8

So a school that trains kids to protect and serve, yeah ok, why not, but the main character (whos an emo already but I do get why, because same) is 17 yo, he s still a baby, he has a weapon, and he has to save the world with other students/seed/boring girl who are all the same age or 18. The game has a lot of good philosophie about the war in general, but really, they are babies in a school who raised as future cops of the world so it irks me a bit.

Fallout 4: Sorry to bring it on this post itll be fast, but the squires. The kiddy squire of the botherhood of steel. Really? Are there people who follow the Bos? After seeing this? This is downright endoctrination, my mom side is cringing when I see them. The main character is searching their child, a stolen child, used as a tool by a group of Aholes and here Sole would do nothing against children soldiers?

Ill probably find more later, and this is weird.

Dont get me wrong I love all of the above, the characters and the stories but I just want to share my piece of mind. I have read and played all of them, and I have recently just realised this and my heart is huuuuuuuyhhjejd

The Perfect Day

Well, this is my first post in this blog and I don't really know how this all works. (Guess, I will be taking baby steps for now.) This was one of the first fanfic I wrote. Forgive me, for my writing skills are bad (like, really bad. Pathetic, actually). But this was a really good story I came up with and my friend really liked it. So I thought i will share this as my first post. Enjoy! ----------------------------------------------- Disclaimer : I do not own bleach. I saw my future in those eyes. As I fell deep under his spell, I became more and more oblivious to the world around me. It was as though I was never alive till then. Everything seem to fall in place. "You can say I love you now, you know."He told her as she accepted his proposal to marry him. Her face looked shocked even though she managed a nod, accepting the life he offered. Together. "I love you, Kuchiki Rukia". She blushed deeply at his words. "You could have figured that out earlier, genius" she smiled. This was the best thing that could have happened to her. She was sent as a messenger to the noble houses, delivering some important documents. She had just handed the printed paper to the noble head when the orange headed strawberry changed her world. More like shocked her to oblivion. The ring was a big suprise. She never thought he would ask her to marry him at the most unromantic moment of her life. Sure she had very few of that in her life. She was a shinigami. Their life was a constantly in battle. But even she had dreams on how she would get proposed. But in front of all the noble clan members, just as soon as they declared that the Kurosaki's were no nobels as they did not want to take the Shiba name, was not in her wildest dreams. Thank goodness Nii sama was not there. Ichigo had luck on his side. "Ahem..." someone coughed, embarrassed. The magic of the moment broke. They looked away from each other, going from pink to beet red. "I presume we are done here. You are all welcome to leave." One of the noble head said. He was clearly trying not to look at them as they left for their quaters, clearly in a hurry. "Let's go." Ishin said, in a very polite manner. All the Kurosakis (with the new addition ) opened the door which was their only escape. -----------*****************------------ "You guys should have seen their faces" Yuzu piped up. "Finally they did it. Thank god for that ! " Matsumoto laughed. "Let's celebrate with sake! " she exclaimed. Matsumoto will always be Matsumoto. She would take anything as an excuse to drink. A lot. Rukia blushed as all five pair of eyes glued onto her and her going-to-be-better-half. Her fiancé was busy keeping her father-in-law- to- be in a deadlock, for comenting about future grand children. Yuzu had called up a party the following night to celebrate their engagement and was busy with the preparations. But no one should have underestimated Kurosaki Isshin. He was capable of spreading gossip faster than Youroichi sama's flashstep. The guests tuned up pretty quick. Matsumoto, Rengi, Ukitake Taicho and Hanataru ( though she had a feeling he was there for someone else. Her future sister in law was the destination of his eyes. Coming here for them was just an excuse. ) were all gathered in their living room. " Congratulations Rukia chan". her taicho said "I hope you are happy, Rukia." Reji said " and I will bankai your ass if ya ever hurt Rukia" he shouted to her fiancé, who gave up on his father and joined her side. "Yeah,yeah. I would bankai your ass if you fall dead with all that sake." Ichigo replied. Matsumoto was filling everyone with sake. Even Ishin was drinking more than usual. Rukia blushed more than she thought was possible as Yuzu beamed at them while she passed the food around. The Kurosakis were in a celebrating mood today. "Yuzu, we have to come up with baby names. Lots of 'em." The drunk Kurosaki taicho told his daughter. To her amazement, all of her guests were too into this little task with more enthusiasm than necessary. "Hey Rukia, come with me." Ichigo wispered to her as they moved out to the garden. -------------**********************-------------- He was awestruck by her beauty. But what amazed him more was that she was his now. For the rest of eternity. " I think they are just too happy for us." Rukia said as she gazed at the moonlight. His mind was dragged back to reality ( and eyes from her face) at those words. He could live the eternity just looking at her. He would do anything for her. Would be anything for her. "My family emmits craziness. I think you should have been more careful when you said yes to me." Ichigo smiled at her playfully. "I think I got the rotten apple of the lot. My faith!! " she was being very melodramatic. God! I was happy that she was miles away from those soaps she used to watch, he thought. But they were a greater evil. More dangerous than Aizen himself. "Oh yeah! Then why did you say yes?"he retorted. "I was in shock. You took advantage of my situation. "She replied in mock horror. "Uh. I must have brain damage to love you."his reply earned him a rock on his head. "Hey! What the hell was that--" his words forgotten in her kiss. "I love you, idiot" Rukia said, softly. He was an idiot for not asking her out for all these years. But he was now ready to grab the moment and make the most of it. He closed the distance between them. His lips found hers as his hand moved onto her body, exploring it. Rukia's small kiss was all the acceptance he needed. He now had her as his own. "Well, when are you planning on telling Nii sama about this?" Rukia enquired, her face a bit worried. Damn it. I had totally forgotten about that. "Maybe we should go now,before he...." "Karin! What --???" Yuzu's hiped voice caught both of their attention. He followed Rukia's eyes back to the room. He just couldnt believe his eyes and ears as heard the rest. --------------*********************-------------- All the Kurosakis were in the most joyful moment of their life. He was happy with the news of thier engagement that Ukitake just couldnt resist the temptation to congratulate them first. He was enjoying the evening tea Yuzu offered him(though the others were having sake), with the hunt for perfect baby names. The two lovebirds were off in the garden with their private moments. Ukitake was glad it all ended well for both of them. They deserved to be happy after all that they had to endure. He was himself thinking of a few baby names as the door slid open. Noone noticed the absence of the other Kurosaki twin until she entered with Shiro chan. The white haired taicho was certainly uncomfortable. His expression was rather tense. But what caught Ukitake's eyes were the pink tint on the young taicho's cheeks. Was he blushing? Ukitake wondered. "Hello Karin Chan" Ukitake greeted her. Others looked up from their little game. "Where were you Karin?"Yuzu asked. The couple, who were hand in hand when they walked in, readjusted themselves. "Good evening Toshiro chan. You must have heard about Ichinii and Rukia nee". "Yes. Congratulations." He said. He was clearly very uncomfortable now. "Taicho! Glad to see you came." Matsumoto said. She was one of a kind. That woman had more tolerance to sake than any of her other drinking friends. ( who had all passed out on the floor. ) Ishin, however, remained conscious and sane. "Hey Toshiro. Thanks for coming. Why dont you go and congratulate your going-to-be-in-law!" He smiled devilishly towards the young taicho who was more red than a tomato. "Hey, Ukitake. Sorry we are late. " Kyouraku said as he entered the room followed by Nanao Chan. "Congratulations Kurosaki Taicho. You are just one lucky man. Son got engaged and daughter got married. All in one day." He said to Ishin. "What do you mean Kyoraku.?" Ukitake asked his friend, completely confused by his statement. What was he implying? "Oh! Didnt Karin chan tell you that she and Hitsugaya Taicho just got married a few minutes back? They kept us up till now doing the paper work for all that." He knew she was trying to make sure noone got injured. But he just couldnt give a dammn to anything other than ripping the white haired nuisance in front of him, in two. "Move back Rukia. I will finish it now. "He deflected Karin's sword which made them step back. They were in the courtyard now, Ichigo pointing his sword menacingly at Hitsugaya. He lunged forward to deliver his blow. He stopped mid flight. He realised that there were a lot of cherry blossom petals surrounding him though it was too cold for it to bloom. "Scatter, Senbonzakura Kageyoshi." A mild voice said. Ichigo was now paler than ever. He knew what he had to do. What was the ONLY thing he had to do. He flash stepped away with such speed that would give Youroichi a run for her money. The cherry blossoms followed him followed by a dark haired man. No one knew what happenened. But everyone was happy that the house wasn't turned to rubble. And for Ichigo, all they heard from him that day was a scream to Toshiro "I WILL GET YOU AFTER THIS !!"

fullbringer arc had some cool ideas but it was also bad writing. it dragged on some, with the main plot being ichigo gaining a new power and thats basically it with the side plot of tsukishima and having ichigo develop new powers isnt the worst plot idea but there could be more.

the new characters in fullbringer are not very enthralling and easily forgettable which is a shame because unlike the other arcs in bleach, it introduces a smaller new cast so there could have been more development since it doesnt run into the trouble of having far too many characters to properly write. and some of the characters had some interesting stories but they were just. swept under the rug and finally fully pushed out of the narrative once the shinigami entered the story again.

the main problem with the fullbringer arc i have is that there is no impact on the next arc like yeah. fb characters are there but there just isnt anything to carry over and that’s disappointing bc all of the arcs affect the next in some sort of way, like how soul society arc influences the arrancar arc but with the fb arc you could just completely redact it and not much would change. ichigo’s fullbring doesnt carry over since its gone lmao so everything ichigo worked for is null and no one really experiences significant growth. chad could have gotten a new power up like its the fullbringer arc cmon kubo why.

i would have wanted to see an arc on the karakura gang adjusting to life after the winter war arc. there’s potential there to expand on characters: ichigo losing his powers all of a sudden, orihime having just been kidnapped would definitely have effects on her psyche, chad’s and uryu’s characters having more overall focus after all of hueco mundo and the events that theyve gone through cause they’re children who were put in dangerous situations. like I appreciate how it does focus on human life like the first arc of bleach however i dont think it runs with the ideas as well as it could. the focus shifted to the shinigami again at the end. also the fullbringer arc should have been chad’s arc. like it kind of was but not really and im so mad about that

maybe its just me being anti soul society but the arc did bring up potential criticism of ss, how they lied to ichigo about the badge with he completely brushes off which i mean, i get that ichigo doesnt care but at the same time ss effectively monitored him and were fully prepared to use the badge to restrict and kill him, a teenage boy, in case he goes bonkers. he’s 15-17 like dude. that’s a little fucked man. ginjo being a former substitute was definitely an interesting topic and his personality pre tsukishima fullbring reveal was better than generic villain tm we got. tsukishima as the generic villain tm worked better honestly and having two antagonists who are not very affiliated would have caused some spicy conflict.

and ichigo questioning the trustworthiness of the people around him could start some internal conflict, like should he doubt the people around him who clearly care about him? that conflict could really question urahara’s morality alongside isshin’s. soul society’s could definitely be there. like maybe it goes somewhere but it could also carry over to tybw since it’s ALL about soul society’s crimes against the quincy. it sets up the stage for the final arc and could amplify the villains (even though they suck lmao) and really hammers in the moral ambiguity of soul society as a military organization.

anyways im done rambling, fullbringer arc could have been an interesting arc
