Whenever I see fanart of the Leech twins in their mereel form, a part of me feels this deep sadness that every and each one includes scales. Moray Eels do not have scales, they have a mucus on their skin so that sand doesn't cling to them. And that sand is cleaned up by cleaning shrimp.

Also the abundance of fins when Morays don't have that many fins... I can get that one, from the design side, but even in their canon design they don't look scalie, guys.

As a Moray Eel nerd, I advocate for More Moray Compliance on the Tweels side.

I've just always loved their mer-forms and the biology nerd and monster lover in me thinks about it too much. I can fill several pages with headcanons, hypotheticals, observations, and sketches. What I agree with the fandom at large on. What I don't agree with. Why. Etc. . .

OKAY SO I JUST DECIDED TO FILL THE WHOLE THING OUT! I headcanon Peril as Intersex and nonbinary!! AND SAME FOR ME, they fall fight between “I know them” and “their lore is literally impacted by their transsexualism”!! Peril is a very Nonbinary character to me, the way she was raised to view things as very “black & white” and hosting a sense of little self autonomy— makes them finding a comfortable identity in a very “”in the middle”” gender compelling! Especially within the understanding of how Peril was raised and brought up in someone else’s vision, being able to find self-identity in that nature of breaking down the “black & white” structure that was forced on them through the act of finding identity in neutrality. I find the development of self-love extended through gender expression in that nature something that works well in-unison with Peril’s pre-existing themes! Especially in regards to the layered metaphors of the Necklace. As a nonbinary person myself - I found that to be a pinnacle moment of forced suppression of identity into something more “palatable” to the public perception - in this analysis that being the forcing of femininity onto a gnc aligning identity - speaking to the way many nonbinary identity’s are expected to lean “one direction or the other”. So that moment being involved in Perils story - and her breaking free of it and having a self-realization/control moment - very reflective of nonbinary/gender non conforming experiences !!

With that though - thats just my own interpretation and connection to those aspects of Peril’s characterization! I find her lore and themes within her character to speak to many universal experiences of identity that can be interpreted in a fluid way. Like I personally read it as a very compelling arc about non-conformity and applied my own experiences with gender expression onto it, but other interpretations/analyses are just as strong! Thats why I put this headcanon in the middle, because I find it connects heavily to their lore, but is similarly just an extension of it and not necessarily interwoven in-full. Its a lot of personal interpretation which is why the personable “I know them” also 100% fits my perception of transgenderism onto Peril <33

Also the Intersex headcanon is purely a me thing, I always thought Peril was intersex just like. Factually lmao (one of those “I somehow convinced myself this was canon and was surprised to learn it was not” moments lmao). The reason I included it as well is because within my headcanon I think Peril would similarly absorb her being intersex to a further extension of gender identity! Again, breaking down those “black & white” views that were forced on them through themself - literally! Notably being intersex does not inherently mean gender identity is going to be impacted as well, just for this headcanon I feel Peril’s relationship to their gender identity would be strongly impacted by them being intersex <3 !!

Star Wars Fun facts Part 1, WARNING:SPOILERS AHEAD, clone wars season 3 spoilers, also it’s long sorry.

The Mortis Gods: they had a 3 episode arc in the clone wars show, S3E15-17, They were the Son, the living embodiment of the dark side, the Father, the living embodiment of the balance of the force, and the Daughter, the living embodiment of the light side of the force, the Daughter also had an owl named Morai, they lived on mortis, a hidden force nexus where the Daughter grew life in the day and the Son destroyed it all at night. Anakin, Obi-Wan and Ahsoka find an odd thing in space while going to answer a distress call, and they are brought to mortis, they cannot contact the outside world. The Daughter brings anakin to the Father, he was brought their because he has the potential to take the Father’s place, keeping the Son and the Daughter from leaving mortis, while they are there, the Son takes control of Ahsoka, and tries to kill Anakin, who wanted to leave, The Son tried to kill the Father but the Daughter stopped him, getting stabbed in the process, Ahsoka was dying bc of the dark side possession and the Daughter was dying from her wound, her dying wish was that her remaining life force be transferred to ahsoka, saving her life and marking the first of 3 times ahsoka ends up in a situation where she should have died but something involving mortis happens and saves her. The Son shows Anakin the future to turn him to the dark side, and the Father has to erase those memories, The son ends up killing the Father, and Anakin kills the son, Anakin, Obi-Wan and Ahoska leave mortis, and the only survivor of mortis who has been seen since is Morai, the Daughter’s green convor, who is seen with Ahsoka in Rebels, Ahsoka, and the Mandolorian. In rebels the portal to the World Between Worlds is in a mural of the Mortis Gods. In the end of the Ahsoka show statues of the Mortis Gods are seen on Peridia. The statue of the Daughter is severely damaged.

my eel brain actually started with me volunteering to assist on an eel feed at the pūkaha wildlife centre. knee-deep in large, writhing beasts trying to get at the food in my hands, i fell in love.

you're right, the longfin eels teeth are so small! you've got to look really close because it kinda looks like it's just a rough texture:

but that isn't the only type of eel teeth! Viper eels have a pretty iconic set of teeth

they feed on slippery critters so need some good grippers, while a moray like the snowflake eel which eats more crustaceans will have flatter teeth for crushing:

snipe eels have backwards facing teeth! you might have to squint to see these because theyre so tiny, but they function similar to a pythons- once you get in it'll be incredibly damaging to get out!

🐚 - they’re hugely musketeer-themed 🐚 - technically they aren’t an individual swap. rather, it’s a martlet + moray duo swap with sans and papyrus. in pacifist, moray’s role is closer to papyrus but there are a few elements from sans i incorporated into their personality 🐚 - martlet is basically a sibling to moray. however, her current behavior is raising some concerns. moray feels like she’s hiding something. 🐚 - they’re the one that talks to ceroba at the gate! though they’ve never properly met before, there’s a certain level of trust between the two that no other dynamic really has 🐚 - they still love music. has a guitar somewhere and knows how to play it too. aside from that they’re also quite interested in architecture
