While I'm working on music and art and stuff like that, I'd thought I'd take a bit of time to post...this!

These are 7 of my OCs that I had the idea of drawing as these characters at one point, and it was so fun to do so. I got into this series around the point where Deceit and Remus were introduced, and it has made me really come to love the dynamics all of these characters have with each other. So...Thomas, if you happen to read this, thanks for making so many inspiring things I have gotten to see...I hope I get the chance to make more things inspired by your work in the future! ^^

Virgil Dark: District Twelve, The Reaping

Virgil stood in the town square, next to his only friend Remy who was gossiping about “some bitch” at the hob who refused to trade with him, waiting for the reaping to begin.  Remy spoke with exaggeration in his tone as the two of them waited to find out who would be given a death sentence this year. Virgil knew that Remy hadn’t truly cared about “the dumb fucking bitch who didn’t seem to have half a brain cell,” but instead had just needed a distraction from the possibility of his impending doom. Virgil had appreciated the distraction, making sure not to let his own thoughts astray from the over-dramatic telling of the story. Silence fell over the anxious teenagers as the mayor stepped up to begin the story of Panem. 

Everyone was required to listen to the tale. Regardless of the fact that all the citizens had been hearing it for their entire lives every year. It was just another distraction from the fact that this mayor and the capital that “had cared so much about their citizens” would be sending another two kids to die this year. Virgil waited anxiously beside Remy as he waited for the names to begin to be called. Even after the past six years of sitting in the group of kids waiting anxiously, praying that they wouldn’t be the unlucky one to take part in the games, Virgil still couldn’t get used to it. He was almost out, he told himself, he was close to being done with these stupid games, he just had to survive one more reaping. A reaping that had the highest chance of Virgil being selected then all the years before. 

After the mayor finished his spiel, Effie Trinket assumed her place on stage with the Capital painted smile as always and her pink hair seemingly bigger than usual. “Happy hunger games! And may the odds ever be in your favor!” She quoted from all her previous years doing the same thing, over and over again. Virgil wondered how she felt about sending kids to their deaths year and year again. After a moment Effie chirps, “ladies first!” She then places her hand in the big glass ball holding all the names of every twelve through eighteen year old in the district at least once. 

Effie drags out a small sheet of paper with a name on it, Virgil could see Remy visibly tense, most likely hoping it wasn’t one of his three sisters. “Valerie Torres-Rosario,” Virgil watched as a girl stepped onto the stage. Virgil barely recognized her from school, although she appeared to be younger than him. “Next for the boys,” Effie stated as Virgil’s stomach began to twist. He told himself to be rational. By the time they had turned eighteen, everyone had put in a high number of names. The chances of him being chosen were slim, Virgil reminded himself as Effie pulled out a sheet with the name of the unfortunate boy who would be chosen this year. 

“Virgil Dark,” Effie announced in a tone far too cheerful to be announcing the kid who she would be sending to die this year. 

Virgil and Remy simultaneously muttered, “shit.”
