While I'm working on music and art and stuff like that, I'd thought I'd take a bit of time to post...this!

These are 7 of my OCs that I had the idea of drawing as these characters at one point, and it was so fun to do so. I got into this series around the point where Deceit and Remus were introduced, and it has made me really come to love the dynamics all of these characters have with each other. So...Thomas, if you happen to read this, thanks for making so many inspiring things I have gotten to see...I hope I get the chance to make more things inspired by your work in the future! ^^

Virgil is a bat until Thomas says otherwise

Why I think Virgil is a Bat

               I’m back, I’m back on my bullshit, let’s lock and load. We all hope and pray that all the sides have animal traits like Janus does. We took Lillypaddon as proof that Patton is a frog (and so died a lot of fan art) and assume the tentacles mean that Remus is an Octopus, or The Kraken or Cthulhu. That leaves everyone else up in the air.

               I myself have waffled on Virgil and Roman’s animals, but for Virgil, I finally made up my mind. Until further notice, I think Virgil is a bat. Here’s why:

1.       Bats are emo as fuck, all my Edgar Allan Hoes agree.

2.       Talyn, who first suggested the idea of all the sides being animals, loves bats. Because they’re little puppy babies.

3.       One of my earlier essays cited that Bats in spirit animal symbolism represent fear, change, dreams, and the night.

4.       Virgil also represents fear, he’s anxiety, in a bloops video he said he was a nightmare, which alludes to dreams, he changed during his redemption arc, and he’s very fond of the night.

5.       Bats are nocturnal. Virgil is likely nocturnal as he keeps Thomas awake. At the very least Virgil is most active during the night.

6.       Bats hibernate, meaning they go to sleep until the cold goes away. Much like Virgil, who wants Thomas to sleep through his problems.

7.       Obligatory “This animals hisses, Virgil hisses ergo…” bats hiss, it’s hilarious

8.       Bats can fly, bear with me, Virgil has an opinion on flying. He hates it. Now if we apply fan logic, the only logic my brain uses, we can speculate. What if Virgil hates flying because that’s a part of who he is as a dark side? This could be a connection to him being some kind of flying animal. Him being able to fly or defy gravity also makes all kinds of hilarious ‘High anxiety’ visuals.

9.       The term ‘Bats in the belfry’ alludes to one being crazy, anxiety is the second most common mental illness. Virgil could easily be the bat in Thomas’s belfry.

10.   The term ‘Running like a bat out of hell’ applies to Virgil’s control of Thomas’s being able to run away from danger.

11.   Work is slow, I’m clutching at straws.

12.   Aesop, the Greek story writer, wrote the fable of the bat. The bat does not get involved in a war between the birds and the beasts, by telling each side he is one or the other. In the end, the beasts don’t want him because they think he’s a bird, and the birds don’t want him because they think he’s a beast. This seems a very Virgil story, in the fact that he’s not a dark side anymore, but lately he’s having doubts that he’s not a light side. He is affectively and animals that is both and neither. And knowing Thomas’s love of Greco-Roman connections and lore, this may just be possible.

13.   Bats are near sited, much like Virgil being short sited at times.

14.   Bat’s use of echolocation reminds me of Virgil’s exorcist voice. This is just my personal opinion.

15.   While you should never touch a bat in the wild, they are definitely an animal that Patton would love to cuddle.

16.   Bats purr, and I want that. I will let go of my ‘Virgil Purrs’ head cannon when you pry it from my moldering corps. You will have to break each skeletal finger to remove that from my decaying hand.

Thus, concludes my list. Have a wonderful day.
