Which OC has crossed the Moral Event Horizon (become irredeemable)? What event/act pushed them over it? Do they ever wish they could go back?

psa that the day there are no jgy stans left on tumblr dot com is the day i am dead
but rest assured i'll go to my grave exactly as i lived: obnoxiously proclaiming to everyone within earshot how great lianfang-zun is. narratively, metaphorically, spiritually. sexually, too, like why limit myself. i like to keep my options open
#the spirit of su minshan possessed me for a minute there but like. i'm fine with it#jin guangyao#he did crimes??? good for him 😌#editing this post to add that while the tone here is clearly joking#i really am fundamentally still engaged with this fandom#and with this book#almost exlcusively because of my enjoyment of jgy#even xiyao is secondary for me like i love it and i'm ride or die for it obvs#but jgy as a character is the main draw for me. and he would have me by the throat even if there was no zewu-jun#(tho i think jgy's life would be more depressing for his absence obviously)#but he is just. /clenches my fists!!!#THE most compelling character in the story and i cannot stop thinking about him!! cannot will not!!#who else in this book has his range? who else can be the doe-eyed idealist AND the spy with blood on his hands who ends a war?#who else is two different greek tragedies and at least two separate shakespearean tragedies rolled into one antagonist#an antagonist who but for the POV of the novel could very easily have been the protagonist#whose moral event horizon is so deeply entwined with his own trauma and abuse that there is no way to meaningfully separate#the violence he does to others from the systemic violence that was done to him for his whole life?#who else in this book manages to get five separate sect leaders utterly obsessed with him no matter how you choose#to interpret that obsession?#no one!!! that's who!!#ain't no one else in the jianghu doing it like lianfang-zun and that's just a goddamn fact

okay it's horror genre time in the war au. this is dubious canon btw since i'm still unsure whether to proceed with it or not...
(cw: body horror, medical horror, organ transplant in the unethical experiment sense, war crimes, dysphoria, identity crisis. DEAD DOVE DO NOT EAT ⚠️⚠️⚠️)
so, since dust only has killer's soul right now and has ordered killer's body to be discarded of in order to convince everyone that killer died, the next step should be getting killer a new body. i'm thinking of having dust store killer's soul in a soul container for now (like those in undertale, to preserve the soul) (also how ironic) and look for someone to help him with his ill-thought-out plan. obviously horror will come in here, as per the story's required horrordust reunion arc. but then, what to do next.......
so, the idea i'm thinking here is: soul transplant. horror and dust look for a new killer and forcefully transplant their killer's soul into the new body. i was thinking a head transplant too, but since killer's original body is dust now, that wonderfully horrible idea won't be feasible (man i would love for killer to have neck scars from the head transplant surgery - that would be so horror-inducing).
but still!! soul transplant can have its own fun horror elements. i'm bad with biology so imma steal from transformers rossum's trinity idea - the three important parts of transformers being brain, t-cog, and spark. so maybe adapting this to war au, i can have the trinity being brain, magic organ, and soul. with the soul forcefully replaced, there bounds to be some organ failure happening, since the magic organ and the soul don't really recognize each other (my headcanon). and also, very wishy-washy idea here, but imagine this killer having two sets of memories just warring at each other, memories from the brain and memories from the soul - one part is scared and hates dust and horror, and the other part recognizes them as his beloveds.
and again, this just brings the question regarding killer's unique makeup: which one is the real him, the soul or the body?

It wasn't meant to set Azula up as a monster.
It...kind of was, though? Zhao and Azula both are smirking in this scene. The animators would not have given them these expressions on accident - it was to establish that out of all the Fire Nation jerks in that arena watching this grisly display of child abuse by a father to his young son, these two are particularly jerkish because whatever resentment they have of Zuko is so great, it allows them to take some actual pleasure in watching his face get burned by his father.
And while there's plenty of hatred of Ozai for what he did in this scene (as there ought to be!), I think Zhao and Azula in that same moment get under people's skins for these reasons:
For Zhao, it's the fact that he's a (mostly) perfectly sane grown man who enjoys watching a terrified, sobbing, pleading 13 year old child getting his face burned by his abuser. Even taking the fucked up aspect of it being by a father to a son out of it, just smirking at a guy physically abusing a child in that way is despicable of any adult to do. The other soldiers, including the general whose plan Zuko challenged in the war room, are stone-faced about it and that's awful as well, but Zhao's smug satisfaction at seeing Zuko suffer is an extra level of vile.
For Azula, it's actually less infuriating in the moment and only becomes so in retrospect once you learn that she's Zuko's sister. That it's her older sibling, the one she grew up with, used to play with, and does on some level still care about. There's more reason for her to not want to see this than Zhao, yet she smirks right along with him because seeing her own brother suffer this abuse from their father pleases her too. It's later made clear that she's so deep into her father's imperialistic indoctrination that she really does think Zuko deserved what he got here given his insubordination, and her internalized need to keep her "golden child" status (for fear of what Ozai would do to her otherwise) makes her relish seeing Zuko fail to meet their father's standards compared to her so that she may continue to have him to measure herself against. But it's still quite depsicable of her, in the moment and overall.
When all is said and done, though, Ozai is still the absolute worst.
About Azula in "The Storm"
Well, @akiizayoi4869 made a post about the doll discourse, might as well make one about "The Storm" discourse.
Tumblr media
This shot. This one shot of Azula smirking at Ozai burning Zuko has gotten her so much hate over the years. Accusations of being a sadist, a sociopath, having orchestrated the Agni Kai in the first place (despite the amount of sense that doesn't make) etc. Mind you, this is the only time she appears in the episode, doesn't even get a speaking line, and yet she gets so. Much. Hate.
I'm sorry, but one brief shot is NOT enough to justify all the vitriol she got over this. Especially since she wasn't even the focus of the shot. It was Iroh. Hell, he didn't even mention her in the flashback. While she did later turn out to be important, it was clear that she was NOT the focus of the scene.
Especially since people pay so much attention to Azula that they forgot who was the one responsible for Zuko even getting a scar in that scene in the first place.
Tumblr media
Did...we just forget that Ozai even existed here?
I'm sorry, but the hate for Azula for this one shot is so overblown, I'm shocked I even need to bring it up. Especially since the discourse is completely removed from the context of the scene. It wasn't meant to set Azula up as a monster. It was meant to tell how Zuko got his scar, drum up hate for Ozai, and explain part of the reason why Iroh wanted to help Zuko since he blamed himself for getting his nephew into this position.

Having to micromanage your entire physical battery day in and day out is so exhausting, especially when your ability fluctuates without rhyme or reason with every single day. I'm starting to have to reframe how I view and tackle my task lists because otherwise the grief and frustration becomes so much that I get nothing done. I'd love to complete the entire list today, but I'm gonna have to limit myself to ticking off two tasks just so I don't burn myself out to the point of being unable to do anything later...
#and even then thats no guarantee since i could feel super sick later without warning#OR maybe i feel superdupergood and can do them all no problem and THEN some#but then i also have to prepare for being bedridden after if i dont keep track of how much energy i burn#the event horizon of which ALSO changes daily lmfao#meanwhile people assume youre lucky or even privileged for this#as if being homebound for your safetys sake and spending most of the time being unable to really do anything#is anything worth envying. people assume youre resting when frankly youre just keeping your face above the water#i dont have a choice either. i gave up all my dreams and ambitions just for the sake of trying to survive for once#i WANT to have a life i WANT to have the power to be independent and not be at the mercy of others until the day i die#god sorry URGH its so hard to not feel sad and hopeless and almost bitter about this sometimes#its so hard not to feel alienated and embarrassed by the fact that you practically live in a different reality to people#people whose lives revolve around careers and working to the point where they cant comprehend you as a disabled individual#and what that means beyond the assumption that being chronically ill and overall impaired is a choice and moral failire#whether or not people are aware of that baseline assumption concretely#and i feel stupid and annoying for whining about this when i have so much to be grateful for#just. guhhhhhhhhh idfk. i SHOULD get started here but i can barely move out of bed#exhaustion is killing me i miss going on daily walks my house feels like a prison#i need to stop moping im already spiralling lmfao#trying not to close my eyes lest i pass out yet again despite having gotten more than 12 hours of sleep#cause apparently to my stupid body thats not enough to even stand up#silvi talks

We know from the Mural of the Dead at the treehouse base that Eve was really important to Ekko, I wonder what their relationship was like?

If you're watching this movie aware that Magnifico is the villain and he says that line during his and Asha's first meeting, the "Dramatic Irony Incoming!" sirens would have to be going off in your head.

Asha knew what grief and loss felt and didn't want others to felt what she been through.
So, seeing Magnifico, a man she thought understood her pain, inflicted said pain onto her family hurts her more.

honestly a bit surprised jayjokes isn't more popular. like don't get me wrong i don't expect that it would actually be a mainstream ship in any regard but it's. definitely niche and more so than it should be. i mean come on guys... joker's bizarre affection for post-resurrection jason, the way both of their life trajectories were irreversibly changed by jason's death (and later resurrection + mental break), jason taking on joker's old identity and the surprising number of coincidental parallels between them as characters, the inherent homoeroticism of wanting to kill another person out of revenge etc etc

Theory: Luke's stunt with Backbiter is what actually damaged Thalia's tree in the tv universe.
Since they seem to be making Luke much less evil in this adaptation, it makes more sense for him to accidentally damage Thalia's tree and then justify it to himself after the fact as "the greater good" than it would for him to deliberately mutilate the corpse of one of his oldest friends to get at the gods.
