Prompt 24 - The Black Lake
@wolfstarmicrofic November 24, word count 322
The surface of the black lake rippled as Moony lapped the frigid water. He was thirsty after chasing Padfoot for so long through the trees. He’d managed to give his three companions the slip and headed towards the place they never allowed him to go. He stared up at the looming castle and watched as the large wooden entrance door opened. He sniffed the air as someone emerged. His ears pricked forward, and his pupils dilated. He took off at a tremendous speed. His muscles and tendons flexed as he flew across the lawn, building up speed every time his deadly paws slammed into the earth. He was so close, so close, and just as he was about to pounce, something slammed into his side.
He hurtled sideways, away from his quarry. Padfoot growled at him, low and fierce, as he got back up and tried to get around him. He could smell the thing he was after. It smelt delicious.
Padfoot growled again as Moony tried to get around him. It was no use. Padfoot kept anticipating what he was going to do.
Prongs trotted over with Wormtail clinging to his back. The great stag took one look at the situation and charged at the onlooker near the castle door.
A scream rang out across the grounds and then the door slammed shut, blocking out the screams and the light that had poured from it.
Back in total darkness, with no chance of getting what he’d been chasing, Moony allowed Padfoot to lead him back to the violent tree and down into the hated place. He could feel the sun coming. Padfoot nudged him towards the bed, and he curled up on the soft mattress. Padfoot came and curled up next to him. They fell asleep and the last thing Moony remembered was Padfoot lazily licking him. So what if he’d lost his quarry? He had his best friend with him.

would you be up to do bff remus with no boundaries?? i think that would be an interesting dynamic
maybe like after a full moon and she just like fully gives him a shower, or something where he’s just completely naked and the boys are so confused at what’s happening
"Arm up, Rem," You hum, but your fingers pry at his pale, scarred skin before he can even begin moving a muscle.
You lift his bicep away from his side, bringing the lathered loofa in your hand to swipe through the curve of his armpit. Suds slide down his sides and you hear him hiss as they mingle with his still-healing cuts and scrapes, but there's nothing to be done except cleaning them before they can be dressed.
"Easy, easy," You rub a hand over his back in a soothing circle that carefully avoids his injuries, "Just gotta get 'em clean, then we can dress them. You can sleep on your stomach, that'll help the ones on your back. How'd you even get scratches on your back?"
"It's all the ladies I occupy my time with," Remus drawls, but his pain is evident in the weakness of his voice, "Women love werewolves."
When you don't answer, leaving an purposefully awkward silence behind that swirls with the steam from the shower, Remus sighs, "Got all scratched up from the tree branches out there."
You drag the loofa from his side to his back, carefully ghosting over the caked dirt around his wounds. His knuckles turn white as he clenches his fists, but when he tries drawing one into his mouth to bite at it you take it in your own free hand.
"No biting. That's reserved for your better half."
"Are you talking about Sirius, or the wolf? Sirius bites me," Remus grumbles, and- speak of the devil, there's feet pounding obnoxiously up the stairs and towards the dorms.
"Moony, we've got all the chocolate we could carry," Sirius informs him, and there's the sound of wrapped goods being piled on Remus's comforter before James and Sirius step into the doorway of the bathroom.
James lets out an 'ooh' and turns away with a grimace when he sees you kneeled beside Remus's naked form beneath the spray of water, but Sirius stands stock-still, frozen by some mix of intrigue and horror.
"Uh, are we interrupting something?"
"Just a bath," You smile kindly at them, scrubbing gently at Remus's neck, "He has trouble getting his back sometimes."
"Sometimes- have you two done this before?"
"After every moon." You nod helpfully when Remus merely ducks his head to rest between his knees, "You two are usually either asleep or trying to get grass out of your pelts."
There's something green in Sirius's hair that proves the two were unsuccessful this time around.
"Oh. I'm sorry, Moony, I didn't know you had a caregiver," Sirius snickers, "Does she help you put your panties on too?"
"Don't let him get to you, dove," Remus murmurs, his eyes slipping shut as the warm water seeps into his skin and heals an ancient ache in his bones, "He's just mad he'll never get to take yours off. They're a real pretty pattern, y'know," Remus glances up at Sirius with the ghost of a smirk on his face, muffled by pain but persistent all the same, "Shame she's not interested in showing 'em to you."
"You've seen her panties, mate?" James cuts in, peering over Sirius's shoulder, "What are you two?"
"Friends," You shrug, "But it's stuffy in here at night, and my sleeping pants get too warm."
"You're telling me all the times you two have slept over in here all snuggled up in his bed, that you've not had any pants on?"
"Well I don't make it a habit to strip in his bed," You scoff, scrubbing at a particularly stubborn grass stain on the pale plane of his hip, "But I can promise you that my pants are never gonna be on your floor, either one of you."
"Oh please, we wouldn't dream of stealing Moony's girl," Sirius claps James on the shoulder, "But whaddya think about that, mate? Strippin' down to cuddle in bed together? They seem to think it's a friendly endeavor."
"I typically only ditch my pants for Lily, Padfoot," James informs Sirius with a sympathetic smile, "But I'll ask her if I can bring my dog to her dorm tomorrow night. You can sleep at our feet."
Sirius begins valiantly arguing for a spot higher up on the bed, every dog's hardest battle to fight, but you're no longer interested in their antics or the noise they're producing. You reach out your foot to kick at the door, and it swings shut with a satisfying click.
"Thanks, love." Remus groans, his face squished between his knees, "They were givin' me a headache."
"They always give you a headache," You dig your thumbs into a tense spot on his back and he twitches beneath you with a hum of appreciation, "We should get a flat together without them. They can be the feral deer and dog that live outside our cottage."
"We'll have to call animal control" Remus grins wryly against the rounded bend of his knee as you lean forwards to wash beneath his thighs, "How strong are their strongest tranquilizer darts?"

"Sirius Orion Black and Remus John Lupin!"
Sirius could feel his soul practically leave his body as he saw you, in your ever angry form, march to where he is handing your year old daughter to Remus' awaiting arms.
This is it, this is how Sirius thinks he’s going to leave the face of the Earth.
"Erm, I have to go! See you next week yeah?" Sirius clambers onto his motorcycle, praying to any deity that he would fly faster than you hexing him with your wandless magic.
"Bye pah foo!" Lyra grins, her four teeth in clear display as Sirius looked back and waved, "See you soon, baby moony! Have to go before mummy hexes me to no end!"
Remus watched his friend blankly, deep down wishing he too was in the back of the motorcycle with Lyra so he could escape the imminent wrath his wife that was to rain down on him.
“Remus. John. Lupin.”
Each word you uttered was like a nail on his coffin. He tried his best not to wince as he heard how utterly cold and sharp you spat his name out. So, gathering up his remaining courage, he faced you with a smile- and he definitely didn’t place your squealing baby girl in front of him, making her somewhat his shield. He hoped the cuteness of Lyra would soften the blow quite a bit.
“Hi, darling! You’re back early- “
“Tell me I did just not see our one-year-old baby land in front of our house riding Sirius’ flying motorcycle or so merlin help me I will strangle you.” You warned, taking Lyra from his hands, who happily snuggled in your arms.
Well, shit.
There goes his only chance of living.
He offered a wry smile, ignoring how sweaty his hands had become. “Alrighty, I won’t tell you- “
“Remus! You seriously thought it was a good idea to let our child ride a flying motorcycle? She just turned a year-old last week for Merlin’s sake!” You scolded, poor Remus. Call him a seer because he can already see himself sleeping on the couch for the entire week, a few days if he’s lucky.
“Darling, Sirius and I made sure it was completely safe.” He tried to explain, “Lyra doesn’t even have a helmet! What were you guys thinking?!” You hugged your baby closer to your chest.
“Well, Padfoot said it’s unnecessary since they’re technically flying.” You scoffed in disbelief as you comforted Lyra who started to fuss. “Remind me to make Sirius fall next time I set his eyes on him on that darn vehicle of his.”
Remus could only let out a nervous chuckle. "Erm, I will."
“Why was Padfoot even here the first place?” You raised an eyebrow, going back inside the house to place Lyra in her playpen as Remus followed you like a servant who’s trying to regain your favor. “He also took Harry out for a ride. After that, he went here and told me Lyra should also experience it.”
You turned around and faced him, a hand on your hips. “I’m guessing Lily isn’t aware- because there is no way in her right mind that she would let her two-year-old son ride a flying motorcycle.”
His silence was the only thing you needed to hear from him.
“Where even were you when he took Lyra out for a ride?”
He blinks stupidly, “Outside, watching them.”
“You better choose your next words carefully Lupin.”
“I was supposed to ride with them, darling! But Sirius already took off when I was about to get onto the motorcycle!” He explains, hoping it’ll be enough to save him as he recalled the events from earlier.
“Pah foo!” Lyra grinned as she clapped her hands excitedly, her sandy brown hair that was tied in pigtails was swaying with every move she made. Sirius returned her excitement, bypassing Remus who answered the door and made a beeline to the squealing baby.
“There’s my baby Moony!” He lifts Lyra up from her playpen and peppers her face with kisses while Remus smiled, rolling his eyes playfully. “I’m starting to think you’re just visiting so you can hang out with my daughter, Padfoot.”
Sirius turned to look at him, smiling playfully as Lyra tugged on his curls. “I’m afraid so, Moony.” He then turned his attention to the child. “Now, who wants to go on an adventure with uncle Padfoot?”
Sirius’s eyes twinkled with mischief as he held Lyra aloft, her giggles filling the room. “We’ll soar over the treetops, chase the clouds, and maybe even race a few owls, eh?” He bounced her gently, eliciting more delighted squeals.
Remus watched them, a fond smile on his face, thinking that his best mate wouldn’t seriously do it. “Just make sure you keep her within sight, Padfoot. No loops or dives,” he added with a mock sternness that fooled neither Sirius nor Lyra.
Sirius mock saluted. “Aye, aye, Captain Moony!” He turned to Lyra, whispering conspiratorially, “Your dad’s just worried we’ll have too much fun without him.”
Remus didn’t even know how it happened, he just suddenly became aware of the situation when Sirius and Lyra were off, the flying motorcycle roaring to life as they took to the skies, leaving a trail of laughter, the faint smell of engine oil in their wake, and a faint ‘I fly, dada!’ from Lyra.
You sighed, effectively pulling him out of his thoughts. “At least Lyra’s safe, I know Sirius wouldn’t endanger his god daughter.”
You watched as Remus’s eyes softened; the worry lines smoothed out from his forehead. “Yes, Lyra is safe, and Sirius might be reckless, but he’s also fiercely protective,” he agreed, his voice carrying a note of gratitude. You hummed in agreement.
Remus tested the waters, “So… I won’t be sleeping in the couch, right?”
You couldn’t help but let out a soft chuckle, the tension from earlier dissipating like morning fog in the sunlight. “No, Remmy, you won’t be sleeping on the couch,” you said, your voice laced with a hint of amusement. “But let’s agree that any future flights require both parents’ approval, alright?”
Remus let out a sigh of relief, his shoulders visibly relaxing. “Agreed, and I promise, no more surprises,” he said earnestly, reaching out to take your hand.
Just then, Lyra’s babbling caught your attention, and you both turned to see her playing with a small, plush fox, looking eerily similar to your animagus form that Sirius must have sneaked into her playpen.
“Maybe we can’t protect her from everything, but we can make sure she knows she’s loved and safe,” you mused aloud, watching Lyra.
Remus nodded, his eyes reflecting the same sentiment. “That’s all we can do,” he agreed. “And maybe teach her a few tricks so she can outfly Sirius one day,” he added with a wink.
You glared at him playfully, then laughed, imagining a future where Lyra, with her inherited Marauder’s cunning, would indeed give Sirius a run for his money. “Now that’s a plan I can get behind,” you said with a smile.
As the night drew on, the house filled with the soft sounds of a family at peace. The day’s adventures were recounted with laughter and gentle teasing, and plans for a grounded tomorrow were made. And in that moment, all was well in the world of magic and mischief.

I genuinely think Sirius forgets that werewolves are dangerous. Like he cannot fathom that Moony would want to hurt someone and whenever Remus gets anxious about attacking someone during the full moon Sirius gets defensive because his Moony wouldn’t hurt anyone. How could he, Moony’s just a big ol puppy with too big paws he’s always tripping over and the softest fur and he gets so excited when he’s let outside its adorable. And he’s Padfoots best friend, he makes Padfoot feel so safe, and they have the best time chasing rabbits and singing to the moon and he gives the best snuggles. And sure he gets a bit grouchy and bite-y sometimes but that’s no reason to be mean to him, how would you like it if you’d spent your whole life locked in the same room? Padfoots loves his Moony.

That Time of the Month
inspired by @accio-sriracha’s post
A/N: it’s shorter than id planned and i might one day expand on this idea, but here we go! enjoy <3
“Who the fuck ate my fucking chocolate?”
Sirius and James exchanged a look of pure, unbridled terror. James’ wide eyes and quivering jaw seemed to imply it hadn’t been him, and Sirius was trying to communicate the same with his own expressions. Neither of them were daft enough to touch Moony’s chocolate these days; they’d learned that lesson the hard way.
A voice spoke up in the silence. “Sorry Rem,” Regulus mumbled from where he’d buried himself in James’ chest. “I’ve got some in my dorm — I’ll replace yours, I promise. I just really didn’t feel like getting up. Sorry.”
Something in Remus’ harsh expression softened — as it usually seemed to do for Regulus (something Sirius was often quite dramatic about, barring this one week of each month).
It had been dubbed ‘hell week’ by all those who had to experience it — both Remus and Regulus described it as such quite openly amongst friends, but Sirius and James were careful only to complain to one another, and not to their boyfriends — because it was quite frankly, hell. It was bad enough back in their early years of Hogwarts when it was only Remus they’d had to dance around near the full moon, but ever since Regulus had started his period in his third year (an unfortunate consequence of his being trans, and something that — as of yet — had no potion to fix) it had only gotten worse.
By some unfortunate sort of fate, Regulus’ time of the month had synced up almost perfectly to Remus’. The pair would wander around Hogwarts snapping at anyone who even slightly grated on their nerves, complaining about their aches and pains, demanding this, that and the other from their boyfriends. But as much as this caused Sirius and James a great number of headaches trying to please not one, but both of them at the same time, it seemed to have brought the pair together in an odd bond that could almost never have otherwise been created.
For a start—
“Oh, that’s fine Reg,” Remus brushed off, if still a little pouty. “You know you can just help yourself.”
Remus never let other people eat his chocolate. Regulus seemed to be the only exception to his rule.
“No, no,” Regulus grumbled, dragging himself upright. “I’ll get it.”
Sirius knew just from the tone of his voice that Regulus really didn’t want to go all the way down to Slytherin for more chocolate, and a glance at James told him he knew the same.
So James — in a valiant effort to make up for ‘breathing too loudly’ around Regulus earlier — quickly piped up, “No love, it’s okay! I can get it for you. You just stay right there, all comfy and cozy. I’ve got it.”
Smiling smugly and clearly pleased with himself, Regulus settled back into James’ bed while his boyfriend tucked him up with blankets and his hot water bottle. “Thank you, baby.”
Oh Merlin, his little brother really had James wrapped around his finger.
“Padfoot,” Remus whined, laying himself gingerly face down on his bed. Sirius snapped to attention like a soldier called to duty. “Will you be my weighted blanket again?”
Without a moment’s hesitation, Sirius shifted into his animagus form and gently laid himself down over Remus until he heard a contented sigh. He let himself snuggle into his boyfriend’s warmth happily.
Perhaps hell week wasn’t entirely hellish.

Cold
@wolfstarmicrofic December 16th -775 words
Remus was slowly waking up. The familiar ache in his joints was duller today, but still present. The moon hadn’t been bad at all, he didn’t feel excruciating pain anywhere in his body, he felt like none of his bones broke and didn’t register any open wounds. Overall, a nice moon.
The strange thing about that morning was the warm, plushy and furry cushion his head was on. It was so comfortable, Remus didn’t open his eyes, he just snaked his hand through all that good smelling fur, snuggling his face in it as well.
Around him he could hear some muffled giggles, and he furrowed his brows, but still didn’t feel like opening his eyes: he was too comfortable.
Then, something wet was lapping at his face, and he opened his eyes just to stare into Padfoot’s big black snout.
“Ew, Padfoot, why would you do that? That’s disgusting!”
Finally he registered where he was: the Shrieking Shack was enlightened by the first sunrays, and he was snuggled up on Padfoot’s gigantic form, using him as a pillow on the floor. His body was covered by a heavy blanket, and Prongs and Wormtail were looking at him from the bed.
“Good morning sleeping beauty! How are you feeling?”
James was energetic as always, but Remus noticed that he stifled his enthusiasm for his sake, he mentally thanked him. “I’m fine, nothing broken and no open wounds, so…”
He was still petting Padfoot, who hadn’t transformed back, choosing to accept the cuddles given by his boyfriend.
“Sorry you had to sleep on the floor, mate. We tried to get you on the bed, but… hum…”
Wormtail was trailing off, and decidedly not looking at him in the eyes.
“What? What did I do? Did I hurt any of you?”
Remus was starting to get paranoid, but James calmed him.
“None of that, Moony, calm down. You just didn’t want to leave Padfoot’s side, that’s all. When you transformed back, we put a blanket on you and let you sleep for a bit.” Prongs’ grin never left his face, and Remus felt like there was something they were not telling him.
He looked at his boyfriend, who responded with a friendly bark and a lick on the tip of Remus’ nose, before turning back into Sirius and enveloping him in a hug.
“Good morning, darling. Merlin, it’s bloody cold in here! How did you make it all these past winters without us to keep you warm?”
Remus just shrugged, ignoring the snicker coming from the bed behind him. What the hell were they not telling him?
“I managed.”
“Well, lads, me and Wormy are off. We’ll leave you two lovebirds alone, so that Remus can have some privacy. Speaking of: you might wanna pick that blanket up, mate.”
Remus scrambled to pick his blanket up and cover himself better, he hadn’t noticed it slipping off that much, while James and Peter fled from the shack, still bloody laughing.
“Ok. What happened? Why are they laughing like maniacs?”
Moony asked his boyfriend, who was passing him his clean clothes that he placed in a drawer the night prior.
“Ah, that. It’s nothing, don’t worry. Moony was just a bit… affectionate, last night.”
Remus picked up what Sirius was implying, and felt the urge to bury himself. Instead, he just buried his face in his hands, hiding his embarrassment.
“Oh Merlin, please tell me I didn’t.”
Sirius laughed at his boyfriend, and just hugged him, forgetting the clothes for a moment.
“It’s nothing, Moony. I found ìt quite flattering, actually. Even in wolf shape, you still can’t resist my charm. It’s admirable, truly.”
“Fuck off.”
Sirius barked a laugh and just started leaving kisses all over Remus’ face, trying to cheer him up.
“Oh, come on. Don’t kill yourself over it. Dress up instead, you’re gonna get frostbites in this bloody cold.”
Remus shoved him away, still too embarrassed, and started dressing up (he was actually very cold). Once he was done, he laid down on the bed, and Sirius joined him. Remus would have had to wait for Madame Pomfrey to come fetch him.
“Sirius, you should go, Madame Pomfrey will be here any minute now.”
“I’ll just turn into Padfoot, she’ll figure a big black dog broke inside this morning, don’t worry about it.”
“Mh, if you say so…”
But Remus couldn’t really put two coherent thoughts together: he was already drifting back off to sleep. Sirius looked lovingly at him, kissed him on the tip of his nose, and turned back into a dog, curling up beside him, offering a soft pillow to rest on.

Moonstruck
Written for @wolfstarmicrofic prompt 22 February - moonstruck (650 words)
The first time they saw the wolf, Sirius was stunned. Remus had made them wait outside during the transformation. He told them to make sure they were in animal form before they came in. He didn't want to take any risks, none of them did.
So the first time Sirius saw the wolf, it was muted. He was in dog form, colours washed out and scents overwhelming his senses, but he was still amazed. The wolf was huge, almost as big as Prongs, with sharp teeth and predatory eyes. But he was also skinny, ribs sticking out through his fur, and had patchy fur from years of being left on his own to destroy himself. He didn't seem to want to attack the new animals in the shack either. He approached them slowly and sniffed them apprehensively. Eventually, with some persuasion from Padfoot, he began to trust them, and the nights of the full moon became full of games and running freely in the forest.
10 years later, the amazement of seeing the wolf had faded. They had spent almost every full moon together for a decade, and Padfoot and Moony were almost as close as their human counterparts. It had been just the two of them for years now. Peter had stopped joining them at the end of school, when his job at the ministry got too busy for him to take the time off. James had stayed on until Harry was born and he decided to become a stay-at-home dad. Both of them had offered to come back in the years since, but Sirius and Remus had never needed them. They had their routine down: dinner, apparate to the edge of the forbidden forest, walk to the clearing, wait. The next morning, Sirius would heal any injuries and get them back home, and they'd sleep it off for the next day, snuggled close to each other.
The February full moon of 1985 was different for the first time in a decade. Damocles Belby and Lily Potter had had a breakthrough. After years of development and testing, the Wolfsbane potion was complete. And it worked. The Sleekeazy company had funded the project and as a result the potion was now available for any werewolves who needed it. For free.
Remus had been taking the potion for the days up to the full moon, wincing and retching at the taste, but trusting Lily's judgement and expertise. This was a life changer. He could stomach the awful taste if it meant keeping his mind at the full moon.
The transformation was the same as always, despite a change in location. Sirius had to hold back tears as he listened to Remus's screams echoing throughout their flat, grateful for the silencing charms keeping their neighbours from hearing the noise.
When Remus emerged from their bedroom, still insisting on transforming out of sight, Sirius was struck by the sight of the wolf for the first time since he was fifteen. He was used the the size of the animal by now, as well as the lush fur and healthy appearance that had come in the years the marauders had spent with Moony, but this was the first time he had seen the wolf in his human form. For the first time, he could sink his fingers into the coarse fur and bury his face in the wolf's neck the way Remus did with Padfoot.
The wolf flopped down on his lap, crushing his legs beneath his massive body. Sirius laughed and leaned back against the couch, burying his hand in the wolf's fur as he got comfortable. Moony fell asleep there, his breath coming in heavy huffs. After a while, Sirius fell asleep too, mindless of the spasm his neck would surely be tomorrow and fully aware of the way he was falling more in love with Remus every day.

The Dark Side Of The Moon Chapter Two: September 1975
The links for both Wattpad and Ao3 and at the bottom :)
~~~
Throughout the sorting ceremony, Remus noticed how Sirius masked his pain. His smile was wide and normal to the untrained eye, but Remus knew it was fake. The way his face would slightly falter when a new student was sorted into Slytherin.
By the time the friends were on their way to the common room they were all exhausted. Their feet dragged across the floor while laughter lingered from their previous joke. The common room was the same. The fireplace roared with calming flames. The couch was draped with decoratives of their house colors.
“I'm home,” Sirius said looking relieved.
Remus noticed his smile becoming genuine as they moved to their dorm. As they unpacked their things the marauder's banter slowly returned to normal.
“Wait guys, I made you guys some gifts!” Sirius began frantically digging before pulling out two items that were burgundy and gold. He walked toward James handing him a pair of leather gloves.
“There for quittage so your hands don't get cold and uncomfortable on the broom.” James put on the gloves admiring the way they hugged his hands. His face moved into a wide grin looking impossibly happy at his gift.
“Mate this is amazing I didn't know you improved this much. Thanks, Pads. They’re amazing,” James embraced Sirius, picking him up and spinning him around.
“You're welcome Prongs now put me down,” Sirius said laughing and playfully hitting his back. As James put him down Sirius began walking towards Peter with a wool beanie. It was a soft object with a puff on the top mirroring the colors of their dorm room.
“I made it for you since you always use James’s cloak to steal snacks at night. I thought it would be best for you to stay warm,” As he went to hand his friend the gift Sirius realized Peter’s hands were covered in chocolate. As he went to smile at his friend his teeth revealed more of the substance.
“I’ll just leave these on the bed,” Sirius said, giving his gluttonous friend an awkward smile leaving his gift on top of his covers.
As Sirius moved back to his bed Remus realized he didn't receive a gift of his own. His mind began racing believing he might have offended his friend or done something wrong. As the marauders got ready for bed Remus looked at the gifts his other roommates had received. They seemed personally made for them to fit what they needed.
As they had all said their goodnights and finally settled into their respective beds Remus looked over at his long-haired friend. Sirius was sitting up in his bed looking over their map, his wand providing a soft illumination. The rustling of the sheets could be heard as he changed positions. His hair was in a loose bun on the top of his head with some strands falling. He wore a white undershirt that when paired with his current hairstyle perfectly highlighted the curve of his neck. His plaid pants slightly hugged his hips showing off his slim figure.
As Remus dozed off he imagined what it would be like if Sirius was in bed with him. Would Padfoot put his arms around Remus snuggling his face into his scared neck? Or would they stay to their respective sides, grazing each other's hands under the covers?
~~~
Remus was woken up by a few slight shakes. As he opened his eyes he noticed it was nowhere near time for his classes to start.
“Moony” Remus heard a voice more familiar than his own. As he sat up he saw Sirius holding his lit-up wand in one hand and a brown and grey piece of fabric in his other.
“I wanted to give it to you when they were asleep so we could talk.” Sirius handed his friend the object that when unfolded Remus realized was a sweater. It was soft with striped layers of brown, grey, and black. On the wrists, there were small white circles that after a moment Remus realized were moons.
“I put the moons on the wrists so they could only be seen if you looked closely.” Sirius said, looking at Remus with a glimmer of hope in his cool grey eyes. As Remus looked up at him he couldn't help but throw his arms around Sirius holding him tightly and inhaling his slight smell of maple. Their bodies felt perfectly intertwined as they sunk into the bed. The soft sheets providing
“Thank you Pads. I love it.” As Remus said this Sirius reciprocated the hug holding on to his friend as if something bad would happen if he let go. Remus could feel the warm tears falling show Sirius’s face onto his neck.
“We don't have to talk about what you showed me. I just want you to be ok.”
“I know Rem can I just… Can I just stay here with you?” As Sirius said this he pulled back looking into Remus’s face expectantly.
“Of course, you can just come under the covers.” Remus said as he lifted the blanket and motioned for Sirius to come under.
As he got into bed Sirius turned to face Remus, their faces mere inches apart. Sirius buried his face into his friend's neck as his tears ceased.
“Goodnight Padfoot.” Remus said, putting his arm around Sirius rubbing circles into his back.
“Goodnight Moony.”

Words - 775
-
It’s fifth year when Sirius falls off of his broom and gets seriously injured. He had fallen from such a height that there was no onsite, immediate spell that Madame Pomfrey could do and he was rushed into the hospital wing howling in pain.
Fast, carried by his lanky legs which thank Merlin had decided to work that day, Remus had run after his best friend down from the spectator’s stand to the Quidditch pitch. Panic surging through him as he held his best friend’s hand whilst he was transported to the hospital wing that Remus had himself spent to so long in recovering from the ramifications of his lycanthropy.
Calm and controlled, like always, Poppy the kindly woman whom loved Remus like her own, dosed the young quidditch player with a magic painkiller which, once he had swallowed the potion despite the terrible taste, sent Sirius to sleep almost instantly. Even long after his hand had released its death grip on the werewolf’s own it didn’t stop Remus from clutching it tightly and keeping his seat beside his best friend. He ended up getting in the healer’s way multiple times as she went about mending all the gashes on the porcelain skin of the unconscious boy and repairing all the fractured bone but never did he move from Sirius’ bedside.
‘Please be okay, please.’ He muttered like a mad man as he stroked the windswept hair out of the boy’s face.
“He’s gonna be fine mate” Peter said a few hours later when Poppy had finished her work on her patient, but James who too was sat on a chair still in his kit from the match snapped at him to stop being so insensitive. Of course he would be fine, however they had never see the brave boy in so much pain before all any of them could do was over react.
In the depths of the night, long after James and Peter had given up pleading Poppy to let them stay the night, Remus found himself half asleep when he heard a stirring. He had used the ‘my leg is in pain I think you need to observe me overnight card’ so that he could stay the night in the ward but of course he had been still made to get into the adjacent bed by Poppy who dubiously let him remain there. Beside him he heard a mumble and nearly tripped out of the covers as he rushed to Sirius’ bedside.
“Hey Moony,” he said groggily, a weak grin on his lips.
“Hey Pads. How are you feeling? Do you need water? Or should I get Madame Pomfry? Or are you cold? It can get cold here in winter-,” he fussed as his forehead creased in worry.
“Tired.” Sirius yawned and reached his un-broken arm to pull Remus into his bed by his jumper. Remus did not complain but instead moulded himself around the smaller boy.
“I’m okay you know?” Sirius murmured into his scared neck where a hum of relief came from in response. “Do you know how you hate it when we look after you after the moon?”
“Yeah?” Remus had replied into the raven locks by his lips.
“You just did exactly that.” Sirius said in a horse voice, “you never let us take care of you but all you do is take care of us. You love so deeply yet you won’t except any in return, it must be so draining yet you always have more to give. Let us take care of you. Let us love you. Let me love you Moony because all the love that me, Wormy and Prongs could give you could never match what’s in that heart of yours. Such a beautiful heart.” He says placing a hand over where he could feel the steady beating.
“Those drugs must have been strong” Remus laughed, trying to make light of the conversation which made Sirius lift his head to scowl at him, “why don’t you just except some of my love and we can go to sleep an you can heal,” the brunette quipped in reply to the boy’s expression.
“Fine,” Sirius said as he snuggled into the larger boy’s chest, “but when I’m healed I’m gonna love you as much as I want.”
Remus smiled as he pulled the covers over them feeling more content than ever. Padfoot was going to be alright, he had healed for Remus and in return Remus would start to maybe let himself be loved by Sirius, to accept that maybe he too was deserving of some kind of love and that he could be trusted not to break the fragile peaces that he got gifted instead of giving them back out of fear he would ruin something so special.

Prompt 27 - Candle
@wolfstarmicrofic October 27, word count 381
Remus squinted at the pages of his book. He only had a few more pages left of his chapter, but his candle had burnt so low it was barely illuminating the words any more. But he needed to finish the chapter.
The candle was almost out, and he still had four pages left. He held his book as close as he dared to the sputtering candle when it went out.
“Bugger,” He grumbled as he pulled out his wand. He could probably get away with it if he kept under the covers.
“Don’t you dare, Moony,” Sirius's voice spoke softly in the darkness of the dorm room. “No Lumos, that was the deal. It’s too bright, even under your covers.” Remus put his wand back down, gutted that he couldn’t finish the chapter.
Feet padded across the floor, and Sirius jumped into his bed, holding up his candle. “Here, finished your chapter, you nutter,” Remus grinned and stuck it in his candleholder, illuminating his bed again.
“Thanks, Padfoot,” Remus grinned as he picked his book up again. Sirius yawned and laid himself down next to Remus. Sirius tended to crawl into bed with James when he couldn’t sleep, but on rare occasions, he chose Remus, mainly when he couldn’t be bothered walking the short distance back to his bed. Either way, Remus felt honoured when he did.
Remus quickly finished the last few pages, and of course, it ended on a cliffhanger. He flipped to the next page, and just as he was about to start the next chapter, Sirius’s hand shot up and took the book.
“Oh no, you don’t. It’s sleeping time now; you can read the rest tomorrow.” He picked up Remus’s bookmark off the bedside table and put it between the pages, so Remus wouldn’t lose his place before he blew out the candle. Remus rolled his eyes but wiggled down so he was lying next to Sirius. The bed wasn’t really big enough for the pair of them, but Sirius always found a way to fit. He flung his left arm and leg over Remus’s body and snuggled in tight. Remus kissed the top of his head and wrapped his arms around his best friend. Sirius sighed and snuggled impossibly closer as they both fell asleep.

blue moon snippet
happy blue moon—remember to take your potions!
Even before they were together, there was always this elastic force between them, a cyclical push and pull that left them closest just after the full moon. Padfoot curled protectively around the whimpering Moony as his bones began to shift. Sirius snuggled beside the raggedly breathing Remus in the Hospital Wing, not thinking much of it until suddenly it was all he could think about—how to platonically engulf his friend in his arms, tease the knots in his shoulders, finger-comb his sweat-soaked hair... Now a new paranoia overwhelms him, the fear of driving a splinter deeper in the attempt to remove it. A voice tells him to give Remus space, lest he retreat further. No, fuck that. Sirius gestures vaguely at the tub. “Can I...?” Eyes wide, Remus nods. So he strips, not not putting on a show of it. He’s looked better but definitely still worth ogling, and he’s not above seeking an ogle from Remus, the only person he’s ever cared about being ogled by. Remus just looks a bit anguished, and he’s not sure quite how to interpret that. Still, he climbs into the bath behind him, their long limbs flailing as Remus settles between his legs. He works shampoo—his shampoo, the expensive stuff Remus wrinkles his nose at—through his overgrown, grease-darkened hair. “Please don’t go back,” he whispers at the crook of his neck, nosing at the patchy stubble on his jaw. Beneath his chin, Remus’s shoulder’s tense. “I have to.”

I'm not sure if Sirius comes off a little too booktoky in this one...I feel like he is a little too cool and 'popular' xD But what can I do, that's just how I imagine him. I hope it isn't too annoying to read though 😅
Also, I aged Gilderoy Lockhart up a little for this I believe. So if you stumble across that, just ignore it xD

Chapter 4: Jealousy, jealousy
First Previous Next
"Wake up already you lovebirds, we will miss breakfast!" James hollered trough the closed curtains of Sirius dorm bed. Remus groaned next to him and buried his face deeper into the crook of Sirius neck. Sirius pulled him closer into his arms and pressed a kiss on his hairline.
"I am afraid we might have to acually get up, Moons."
"But 'm tired," mumbled Remus, his voice vibrating against Sirius skin. "And it's Saturday. Can't we just skip breakfast?" Sirius heart fluttered in his chest. How could he say no to this sweetness?
Since Remus and him had gotten together four months ago his feelings had only intensified. Being close to Remus was intoxicating and he couldn't get enough of it. He always needed to be close, holding hands, cuddling, snogging...and some other things as well. And Remus seemed to return Sirius desire for affectionate touches, sought them out just as much as he did, except - and that was the only hang up - when they were in public.
Remus still wasn't ready to let the rest of the school know about their relationship. Sirius didn't exactly mind whether other people knew or not but not being able to hold Remus hand whenever he wanted, not being able to take im on dates properly, bothered him more and more. Of course he didn't want to pressure Remus into anything but this was annoying.
"Sorry, Prongs, gotta go without us." He called to his friend.
"Oh come on, again? Can't you two keep it in your pants for one weekend?" James teased.
"Shut up," Sirius laughed. "Moony is sleepy, okay. So we'll join you later."
"Right sure, mate. Come on Pete. See you then. And don't forget to use protection," he yelled from the door, quickly slamming it shut behind him and Peter before Sirius spell could hit him.
"Wanker," Sirius chuckled, dropped his wand back on his nightstand and snuggled back against Remus. "Sorry bout the noise, Moonsy."
" 's alright. Just hold me." Sirius melted a little. With a content sigh he wrapped his arms tightly around the other boy, pressing his cheek against the top of his head, inhaling his scent.
"I love you."
The words had left his mouth before he could stop them. Remus seemed to have frozen in place. Fuck.
"Oh, thank you." Remus replied, suddenly sounding quite awake.
Thank you. Thank you! Thank you? Right. Thank you.
"And he didn't say anything back?" James asked, playing with a stone by throwing it up in the air and catching it again.
"He said 'thank you'," Sirius replied dryly while throwing another ferret towards the hungry hippogriffs their MC teacher had put him in charge of. It was snatched out of the air before it hit the ground.
"Oh. That's...that's rough Pads I'm sorry." James frowned in sympathy. "But that doesn't have to mean that he doesn't, right? Maybe he's just not ready to say it." Sirius shrugged his shoulders, exiting the hippogriff paddock and closing the gate behind him. "Maybe he just doesn't...He doesn't have to." James frown grew deeper.
"I'm sure he does. You should see the way he looks at you."
"Maybe he just likes looking at me. And thats it..."
"Bullshit. Padfoot, you know Remus. He isn't that superficial."
"No but he is a pushover. What if he just plays along so he doesn't have to turn me down?"
"What? No! Didn't he kiss you first?"
"Yeah but what if he only did that because he had noticed that..."
"That is an insane theory. Sirius, he likes you and - if you ask me - he loves you as well. Just give him some time to adjust." Sirius sighed deeply trying to dissolve the knot in his chest.
"It's okay. I should just be happy with what I've got with him. If he doesn't love me then that's okay."
James grabbed him by the shoulders, demtermined: "No, listen to me. That's not okay. You deserve to be loved, Pads. And you are, okay? Remus loves you and if he doesn't that's his own fucking loss." Sirius snorted, but couldn't surpress a smile. James pulled him into a tight hug. Sirius squeezed his friend lightly.
"Thanks, mate."
**
Another month had passed and Remus had still not said it back. Sirius hadn't pressed the topic and tried to convince himself that it was okay either way. Did it really matter if Remus was in love with him as long as they still got to be together? Deep down he knew the answer to that question was yes. It did matter greatly. But he pushed that thought down, together with his growing frustration about their secrecy.
Usually Sirius loved having shared secrets with the people he cared about. It made for a special kind of intimacy, similar to inside jokes or age old shared memories. But now that christmas was around the corner and all the couples around them seemed extra coupley and cuddly with each other, Sirius loathed it. He too wanted to go ice skating on the lake, hand in hand with Remus, he wanted to draw their initials surrounded by a heart into the fresh snow, he wanted to use every misteloe as an excuse to snog his boyfriend, take him to the christmas market in Hogsmead and buy him all the chocolate covered fruit he wanted. Well, technically he could do the latter but he couldn't expect a kiss in return. Not that he needed payment to do nice things for Remus but a boy could dream right?
Absentmindedly Sirius strolled through the deserted 3rd floor of the castle, on his way from his Advanced Curses class, that none of his friends were taking. When he turned a corner he almost bumped into Mary McDonald, who was so startled she dropped her books.
"Oh, sorry. Here let me help."
He quickly knelt down to help her pick them up.
"Thank you," Mary gave him a genuine smile.  When they both got up and Sirius wanted to continue his path, not really in the mood for forced small talk, he was stopped by an invisible barrier. Oh no.
They both looked up to the enchanted mistletoe sheepishly dangeling above their heads.
"Oh," said Mary. Sirius looked at her with wide eyes. This was bad. The misteloe spell was pretty much unbreakable from the inside. That's what made them so entertaining for everyone on the outside. They were trapped here, unless they kissed. This was so so bad.
Of course there were worse things than kissing Mary. Sirius never paid too much attention to her but she was a good friend of Lily so she must be a nice person. Under regular circumstances he would have probably just kissed her to get them both out of this and not made much of a fuss about it but...Well, while Remus didn't want them to be official, he was not particularly fond of girls flirting with Sirius. Sirius had told him multiple times that he didn't have any interest in girls whatsoever and even if, Remus would have nothing to worry about. But Remus did worry. And if he were to find out that Sirius had kissed someone else, even under the duress of the misteltoe, he would start all over with his 'You could have anyone, why do you want me anyways?' and the 'Are you sure that you don't want to go out with anyone else? You have options, you know.'
Sirius hated these conversations, that had been a constant in their relationship since day one. Part of Sirius was somewhat flattered, that Remus obviously thought so highly of him but the - much bigger - rest of him felt, as if Remus was trying to push him away. That nothing he did or said was ever sufficient to convince the other that he was good enough, that Sirius didn't care about his other options as long Remus was still one.
With a tortured smile he turned to Mary. The girl smiled back and took a step towards him: "Guess we have to get it over with, if we want to get out of here. There seems to be noone around to bail us out."
Sirius raised his hands defensively. "No!" Mary backed off, startled by his strong reaction.
"No sorry...I...I can't kiss you. I really can't. It's nothing personal. I just...," he trailed off. Mary raised her eyebrows.
"It's okay. Uhm...but we will be stuck here if..."
"I know," Sirius interrupted her, trailing his hand trough his hair. He sighed and leaned against the cold stone wall.
They had been stuck under the mistletoe for a good hour, all their attempts at calling for help or freeing themselves futile. Even if the other marauders might be looking for him by now Sirius wasn't sure when they would turn up. He had the map with him, so no chance using that.
Suddenly Mary let out a nervous laugh.
"Would it really be that bad? To kiss me? I mean we all know you are picky but..."
"Excuse me?"
"Well, you haven't dated anyone yet. And not for lack of opportunity. You don't show interest in any of the girls. I heard Samantha Jordan is actually quite offended by that."
"Is she?"
"Yes. Apparently she expected you to ask her out last valentines day."
"Why on earth would I do that?"
"See? Picky. Who doesn't like Samantha Jordan. She's quite fit! And pretty cool if you ask me."
"Maybe you should ask her out then."
"Very funny."
"I am just...otherwise inclined."
Mary looked at him attentively. "Oh? So there is someone?" Sirius flinched. He couldn't tell her. He had promised Remus.
But he could tell her part of it...
"I just...I don't think I care much for girls in general."
"Oh." Mary pondered this new found information for a bit. "I guess that makes sense. Noone in their right mind would turn down a chance with Samantha."
Sirius laughed. "Maybe you should really go out with her."
"Quite sure I'm not her type."
"Who knows, sometimes peoples dating preferences are very surprising."
"What are yours then? Are you into any boys?"
Sirius pressed his lips together and didn't respond.
"Fine then. But if you're gay...why won't you kiss me? You're not one of these guys that think girls are nasty, aren't you?"
"What? No! Of course not. I would kiss you, it's just..."
"Ahhh," Marys face lit up with understanding. "You want your first kiss to be with a boy. I get it. Well that is really unfortunate now." She looked up to their festive prison guard and sighed. "I am hungry though. We are missing dinner."
They did in fact miss dinner, but then, finally they heard footsteps coming down the hallway and soon a familiar voice called out for both of them.
"Sirius? Mary? Maryyy? Hello?"
"Lily, hey over here," Mary yelled over to her friend who hurried towards them, James, Remus and Peter in tow. "There you are! We were starting to get worried."
"Misteloe," said Sirius while pointing upwards and threw Remus an apologetic look. Remus mouth twitched. Obviously relieved, that Sirius would rather be stuck for hours, than to kiss someone else.
Lily shot down the mistletoe with remarkable precision and pulled Mary into a relieved hug.
**
"Are you going to get anything for Sirius?" Lily asked while they made their way through the hallways on one of their obligatory prefect rounds. Sometimes this occupation had it's downsides.
"What do you mean," Remus asked confused. Lily raised an eyebrow.
"For Valentines day? It is in three days!"
"Oh. Well I don't think he wants anything. Sirius isn't much of a gift person, always says he's already got everything. Also he thinks valentines is stupid."
Lily hummed thoughtfully. "Are you sure? I mean James is similar but he still liked the candy I got him last year."
Remus chuckled. "Of course he did, because you gave them to him. It wasn't about the candy, it was about..." Lily watched contentedly how the realization crossed his face. "Well fuck," Remus murmured. "What am I supposed to get him? There is no chance to go to Hogsmeade before?"
Lily shrugged her shoulders. "Maybe pick him some flowers."
"In February."
"You could steal some from the greenhouses."
"Are you encouraging rule breaking behavior, Lily?"
She rolled her eyes. "You could...I don't know. Maybe do something nice with him instead? Plan a little date? You haven't been out with each other at all."
"Yes, because people aren't supposed to know."
"I don't understand why though. What are you worried about? If anyone made any stupid comments I am sure Sirius would put a stop to that quickly."
"I just...Well if you see us together...Do you never think it looks weird?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, Sirius is...he is fucking gorgeous. Everybody thinks that. Even the people that despise him cannot deny that he is very handsome. And I...I am pretty mediocre at best."
"You are being to critical with yourself. You look completely fine."
"Yes, exactly. I look fine, he looks perfect. He is charming and effortlessly cool and I am a bloody dork."
"Oh come on, that's just not true. I admit, you used to be a little...loopy. But that was in first grade! You've grown up!"
Remus shook his head. "This is really nice of you but still...If people saw us together they would certainly wonder what on earth he is doing with me."
"And then what?"
"Then they might start telling him that and then he might start wondering too," said Remus quietly. Lily gently shook her head.
"Remus," she said softly. "That's never going to happen."
When Remus entered the Great Hall Sirius was already sitting at their usual spot. James and Lily were off on one of their romantic walks around the castle and Peter had to take extra lessons with Prof. Flitwick, to fix his grades before the N.E.W.T.s. So Sirius was by himself. Except for Oliver Thompson, a 7th year Ravenclaw who was leaning on the back of Sirius chair, hovering over him. They were talking. Remus couldn't hear their voices but from the look on Thompsons face he could imagine.
Since word had gotten around that Sirius was gay - Mary had accidentally let it slip and word got out quickly - the girls had stopped hitting on him but some boys had started. And they happened to be lot more forward about it. Remus quickened his pace to reach them faster.
"Why not? Come on just one date! It won't kill you," he heard Thompson say.
"It might," Sirius replied dryly. "Sorry Thompson but I am not interested."
"Really? Not even a chance? I promise I'd make it worth your while." Thompson smiled suggestively and Sirius pulled a face in response.
Remus had reached them and without thinking he stepped in between them and pushed Thompson away from Sirius. Jealousy was pooling in his stomach like acid.
"He's not interested."
Thompson raised his eyebrows mockingly "Oh I am sorry, since when is it part if the prefect duties to cockblock?" Remus glared at the brawny guy.
"Step away, Thompson."
Thompson laughed. "Look at that! Loopy Lupin trying to tell me off!"
"Watch your mouth!" hissed Sirius angrily and got up from his chair.
Thompson sneered. "Why are you defending that loser? I mean I know you two are hanging out but we all know that's a pity thing right?"
The words made Remus feel sick and dizzy but he held his position. He would not just give up now. And he knew it wasn't true. Right? Of course not.
Thompsons patience however ran out and he roughly pushed Remus aside. "Out of my way, nerd."
Remus collided painfully with the table. He was about to pull his wand when Thompson was suddenly knocked back by a spell, landing on his ass. His eyed grew wide in shock as he realized that he couldn't even complain about the rough treatment, since his mouth had vanished without a trace.
"I said watch your mouth," Sirius stated coldly and put his wand away. When he looked over to the shocked Remus, his gaze immediately softend. "Are you alright?"
Remus answer was interrupted by a loud yell from the other side of the Hall.
"MR. BLACK! Into my office, NOW!" Professor McGonnagalls face was flushed red with anger as she crossed the hall with long strides.
"All weekend?" James asked shocked.
"He can be glad that it is only that!" Remus shook his head. "That was an incredible dangerous spell! You could have killed him, Sirius!"
Sirius glared at him. "I did that for you, you git."
"That was utterly unnecessary."
"As was your pseudoheroic attempt to drive him away. If you want people to stop hitting on me, there would be an easier way, you know?" Sirius got up from his bed and stormed out of the dorm.
"Sirius!" Remus called after him but to no avail.
James sighed. "What is it with you two."
Remus groaned and dropped back onto his bed.
After Sirius hadn't returned at bedtime Remus decided to go looking for him. James handed him the map and the cloak and told him to not rile Sirius up any further. As if he had consciously chosen to do that.
He found his boyfriend in the owlery, perched on a windowsill between the birds, as if he was one himself. "Are you still sulking?," he asked gently.
"I'm not sulking," Sirius snapped back. "I just don't want to deal with you right now."
Remus flinched. He felt bad for making Sirius this upset. But Sirius had gone too far!
"I'm sorry. I appreciate that you defended me but that was...a bit much." Sirius didn't look at him and kept his narrowed eyes fixated on something in the brickwork.
"I mean, It was a little funny...but I don't want you to do something like that for my sake."
"Well that's too damn bad because I will."
Remus sighed and sat himself next to Sirius in the window. The cold air crept through the layers of his clothing and he shivered a little. Sirius must have been sitting here for a while...
"Aren't you cold?"
Sirius gave him a disparaging look. "No."
"Sirius..." Remus wrapped an arm around Sirius waist. Touching usually helped when they've had a spat. But this time Sirius shuffled away from him, keeping his arms crossed. Remus stomach twisted. He hated this.
"Please. Don't be like that."
"Me? What am I doing? Why are you like that," Sirius called out angrily, jumping up and turning to Remus. Remus could see tears glistening in his eyes. His heart cramped. "We've been together for 8 months and you still want noone to know! I get that you need time but come on! We haven't been out once and because you want to keep it a bloody secret, people hit on me and then you get upset because people hit on me. And now you are mad at me because I dealt with it in a way that doesn't suit you! And you haven't..." Sirius stopped his ramblings for a second to steady his breath "...sometimes...sometimes I think you don't even like me."
Sirius turned his face away again but Remus could still see the tears rolling down his flushed cheeks. His throat was tight.
"Sirius..." he got up and approached him carefully. "Of course I like you! I...I'm sorry I made you feel like I didn't. Hey, look at me. Please." He gently put his hand on Sirius cheek, feeling hot tears on his skin and turned his head towards him. Sirius didn't resist. Remus softly ran his thumb over Sirius cheek, trying to comfort him. Anything to make him stop crying. "I am so sorry." He whispered and Sirius head dropped against his shoulder. Remus wrapped his arms around him, holding him close.
"I love you."
The words came out so easily all of a sudden, he surprised himself by saying them. All these months he meant to, but couldn't get them out. Like his body would simply not let him speak, not let him become so vulnerable. Maybe because he had been scared that if he said it out loud, it would become real. And then he would have no more excuses in front of himself to keep them a secret. And then...He truly feared what would happen if they were official.
Sirius slowly lifted his head, looking at him through long wet lashes. "You...really? You don't have to..."
Remus pressed a tender kiss on his lips. "I do. And I'm sorry I didn't say it sooner. I love you so much." Now he could feel tears stinging in his own eyes. Saying these words felt incredibly freeing.
They took their time on their way back to the castle. Slowly strolling over the dark pathways, hands clasped tightly.
"What do you wanna do for valentines day?," Remus asked into the comfortable silence between them.
Sirius gave him a surprised look. "Do you wanna do something? I'm not sure I can offer much. With the detention..."
"I could apply to watch your detention. I am a prefect after all," Remus grinned.
Sirius smirked mischievously. "Sounds like a plan, Mr. Prefect."
Remus looked over to his boyfriend. He was truly a sight to behold, drenched in moonlight, his silky black hair falling softly down to his shoulders, his eyes twinkling like stars on the nightsky..."You are so beautiful," he heard himself say. Obviously today was 'say your thoughts out loud day'.
Sirius laughed. "So that's why you like me, huh?"
"Bullshit. I like you because you are a mean cunt that hexes peoples mouth shut when they piss you off."
Sirius snorted. Then, after a brief pause he asked: "Would you still like me if I didn't look good?"
Remus chuckled in surprise. "Of course! But you would always look good. It's just how you are."
"That makes no sense. My apperance is hardly an ingrained character trait."
"No, it is! I mean...how do I explain this. Do you know how some people can pull off the ugliest clothing? Like no matter what they wear they always make it look good. I think that's you but with...bodies? Like you could take poly juice of...of Snivellus and..."
"Ewww why do you have to bring him into this?"
Remus laughed "Let me continue," he giggled. "So what I'm trying to say is, you could wear the most unattractive person but you would still look good. People would still think you were hot."
Sirius snorted. "You are being ridiculous."
"Maybe. Maybe I just like you too much..." he grinned. The events of the last hour had left him feeling giddy and carefree. And maybe that was the reason, why he said the following:
"I think I am ready. I think...I think I want people to know. I want to be able to point at you and tell people that you are my boyfriend. And I want all these guys to leave you alone."
Sirius face lit up and he stopped in his tracks. "Really?! Are you sure?"
Remus nodded. Sirius beamed and pulled him into a kiss. Remus rejoiced in the feeling of their lips moving together, hands and arms tightly wrapped around the other, before they reluctantly separated and continued their walk to the dorm, both smiling to themselves.
**
Since valentines, things had been nothing but wonderful between them. The reaction of the other students to them suddenly strolling through the hallways hand in hand hadn't been nearly as bad as Remus had expected. Maybe the tale of Thompsons fate had served them as a warning. People were definitely talking about them but usually left them alone. And so they spent the breaks together snogging in some corner of the castle or behind the greenhouses and the evenings in the common room snuggling on one of the couches.
But with May came study season and Remus became increasingly stressed. Sirius of course didn't have any concerns about the N.E.W.T.s but Remus spend exceeding hours at the library, revising.
Today was one of those days. Remus was sat behind a pile of book with Sirius next to him who had tipped his chair back and played with the hood of Remus cloak, when Lily and Mary joined them giggeling about something.
"What is wrong with him?"
"Don't be so harsh Mary, he's only a kid."
"He is fifteen! I wasn't that supid at fifteen!"
"Who is stupid?" Sirius asked mildly intrigued.
"Lockhart." Lily dropped her books on the table and sat down across them.
"Who's that?"
"One of the 5th graders," mumbled Remus still focused on his book.
"The blonde one. Actually quite cute if he wasn't such a baby," Mary added.
"And what did he do?"
Lily and Mary exchanged a look and Lily looked over to Remus.
Sirius raised an eyebrow. "What?"
"Well...he said that he was going to 'romance' you," Lily giggled at her own words.
"What?" Remus looked up from his book.
"Yes. He seems to believe that he can unhitch Sirius. Absolutely ridiculous."
Remus frowned. Gilderoy Lockhart might be a little pretentious twat but he was quite good looking. A lot better than himself, anyway. Maybe he wasn't being that ridiculous...He looked over too Sirius who was pulling a face.
"What an idiot. Who does he think he is? Unhitch me...really." He turned to Remus. "Absurd isn't it?"
Remus shrugged his shoulders and turned back to his book. He felt queasy.
Since the revelation of Gilderoys plan and some - futile - flirting attempts from his side, he had become topic number one between Remus and Sirius and, by extension, the marauders as a whole. Sirius brushed the whole thing off as a kid having delusions and couldn't understand why Remus would feel threatened. Remus on the other hand was getting increasingly upset. James and Lily tried their best to calm him.
"Come on mate, do you really think Pads would cheat on you? That's mental."
"I am not worried that he will cheat, I am worried that he will leave me!"
"For a fifth grader."
Remus groaned in annoyance. "Look, I....its just..."
"He loves you."
"I know but I haven't exactly been a good boyfriend, haven't I? I made him keep it a secret for months, didn't tell him that I love him and now I am constantly busy studying. And I know he is bored. But I need to study if I want to pass and...and what if he is so bored that he'd rather spend some time with Gilderoy than another afternoon in the library..." he trailed off, feeling terrible.
James shook his head vigorously. "He doesn't care about that. Do you really think he'd leave you because he's bored?"
"Well frankly, yes. I do. Because being bored gives him time to think and then he might realize how blinded he was and how much better off he would be with someone else." His voice broke.
James put a hand on his shoulder. "Moony. You are worried about nothing. Believe me, if Sirius suddenly lost interest in you I would know."
James had a point, Remus thought. But the uneasy feeling didn't dissolve.
"Excuse me, help! You're a prefect, right?" a group of agitated students ran towards Remus who was on his way to the hall with Sirius.
"Yes. I am. What's the matter? And no running in the hallways please!" He just knew that Sirius was gonna make fun of his Prefect voice later.
"Gilderoy." The students tried to catch their breath. "He is at the Hippogriffs."
"What the fuck is he doing there," Sirius asked immediately pissed off.
"He wanted to ride one."
"What?! Does he have an urgent deathwish or something?"
"He wanted to impress...Well he wanted to impress you. Because you take care of them. So he thought if he could ride one..."
Sirius groaned loudly. "What is wrong with that kid?"
"But he got snatched!" Interrupted one of the younger students.
"Snatched?" asked Remus with growing concern. Sirius was already hurrying towards the paddock, the group of students in tow. Remus ran after them.
As they made their way downhill it started raining. Soon all of them were drenched. Suddenly a hippogriff emerged from the clouds, a screaming Gilderoy in it's claws.
Remus caught up to Sirius and grabbed his arm.
"Is this really your concern? What do you even want to do? Shouldn't we get a teacher?"
Sirius shook him off. "I can handle this."
"Sure okay, run to save him!"
Sirius spun around. "What is your problem? Do you want him to die?"
"And since when do you care about that? Or do you care because it's him?"
Sirius pulled a face, angry. "I care because of the hippogriffs. Do you know what happens if they kill someone? I won't let that happen." Sirius turned back around and continued walking.
"Sirius, wait. I...I'm sorry. I just don't want you to get hurt."
Sirius turned around again and in one swift motion pulled Remus into a brief but intense kiss. "I'll be fine."
Remus watched helplessly how Sirius entered the paddock, unleashed and mounted another hippogriff with ease and set off.
It took a few attempts until Sirius managed to free Gilderoy and steered all four off them safely to ground. The group of students and Remus watched in awe.
After they had landed Sirius grabbed Gilderoys arm and roughly dragged him off the paddock.
"Someone get him to the hospital wing."
"You saved me!" Gilderoy swooned. "How can I ever repay you?"
"By staying the fuck away from me! I've got a boyfriend and no intention about swapping him out, eventhough he seems to think otherwise. So get a fucking grip, kid." Sirius grabbed Remus hand und pulled him back to the castle.
They went back to the dorm, Sirius was drying off his wet hair and they both changed into dry clothes.
"I'm sorry about earlier," Remus said. "I was worried about him. I just...I guess I just didn't want you to be the one saving him. Stupid I know."
"Remus...you're not stupid. I mean...I guess I would probably be jealous too, if someone announced that he wants to take you away from me." Sirius pushed a strand of hair behind his ear. "I'm sorry I made you feel so insecure."
"It's not your fault..."
Sirius gently cupped Remus face. "I love you. And I don't want anyone else. Especially not this little twat."
Remus smiled weakly. "I feel like a little twat myself to be honest."
"You aren't. You are great. And you would never be so stupid. Trying to ride a hippogriff...fucking maniac."
Remus leaned his forehead against Sirius.
"Will we be okay?"
"Of course we will, Moonsy. We'll be just fine."
**
The exam season went by in a blur off study sessions, eating and sleeping. The last exam had finally passed and Remus could feel reasonably confident that he'd be leaving Hogwarts with decent grades and he could enjoy their final night at the pub without worries.
"So you two will start Auror training?" Mary asked Lily and James.
Lily nodded. "It sounds like it's quite challenging but I'm up for it"
"Of course you are! You are brilliant," James beamed at her and she blushed a little.
"What about you Pads, have you decided already? Are you going to join us?"
"Nah, don't think so. I would probably get into trouble the first week." Sirius grinned. "I thought maybe I'll do cursebreaking."
"Cursebreaking?" asked Peter surprised. "Isn't that super dangerous?"
Mary nodded, concerned: "I thought that was a job for when you desperately need money...didn't you get a bunch from your uncle?"
"Yes but I will certainly not rest on it. And I think it will be fun. I mean can you imagine me working for the ministry?"
Remus hesitantly shook his head. He couldn't. Actually cursebreaking was the perfect job for Sirius. He was made for it. But Peter was right. It was quite dangerous and Remus wasn't fond of the thought of Sirius getting hurt.
"You'll do great there, mate. They need people like you," James backed Sirius up.
"I guess chances are that we'd still work together sometimes. There is quite some overlap in the fields."
"And what about you, Remus?" Mary turned to him now.
"Me? Oh I don't now. I guess I'll see what I can get."
Mary frowned. "But you're grades should be good, with all the time you spend studying. I'm sure you'll have options."
Remus forced a smile. With his lycanthropy in mind he doubted her words strongly. "We'll see."
He could feel Sirius nudging him under the table, sensing his discomfort. "Well if you don't find anything I can always take care of you."
Remus shook his head decidedly. "No. Absolutely not."
"Why not?" Sirius asked, sounding offended.
"Because I don't want you to. I need to be able to support myself."
"Well sure, but if you weren't I could..."
"No."
Mary and Lily exchanged puzzled looks. "I don't get why that would be necessary..." Lily wondered.
"And why would you not want that? Not having to work, being taken care of...sounds nice to me," Mary mused.
"Well I don't like it. I don't want to be dependent on someone else."
"You are making it sound liked I'd use it to control you," Sirius complained.
"No, I don't think that. I just..." I don't deserve it, he thought.
Sirius huffed. "Suit yourself. But I will not let you starve, as stubborn as you might be, trust me I am worse." He gave Remus a smile and Remus couldn't help but return it. He knew, if he had to be dependent on someone, then he wanted it to be Sirius.

We concur-being sick sucks! Daft pup Skye says hi-he offers a snoot for feel better boops.
Tumblr media
He hopes this helps!
The human half of this team recommends @eyra for cozy reads endlessly. The oldest recipe for parsnip soup was an absolute delight!
Most of my other Wolfstar rereads are a tad long for frazzled brains (Marginalia by @spindrifters comes to mind-it’s utterly spectacular and my all time favourite though). Stealing Harry by copperbadge definitely has suitably quaint opening chapters and is also a longer read.
I read a lot of ‘Wolfstar raising Harry’ fics and the Wolfstar as parents AUs series is adorable-I’d start with To make a family. Lupine is also very sweet (Sirius is a zookeeper in that one! And Teddy is obsessed with the wolves). Let’s play pretend is a bit longer, and very funny! I’m fairly sure my cheeks hurt from grinning by the end! In this vein I’m currently reading the Ordinary Delights series, which does an excellent job of being exactly what it says on the tin (Padfoot and Moony rescue Harry-there are secret Hope made pastries)
I’m English enough that I think The London Underground book of love is very cute!
Better in the Morning is a Sirius makes it back through the veil a bit later fic that makes me feel all the things, but is very soft all things considered.
And last but certainly not least I’d cross an ocean for you by @imjustherefortheshipping is my most recent reread. It’s a Sirius makes it out of Azkaban years ahead of time story. Many tears. Thankfully also hugs!
I hope at least a couple of these float your boat and help pass the time whilst stuck in bed feeling less than great. Skye sends snuggles! And Happy reading! -RebelWriter99
Oh my goodness, hello?? LOOK AT THAT SNOOT! Thank you so much Skye for the boop'n'snuggles, I feel better already?
What a beautiful treat this was to wake up to.
I've just finished reading Parsnip Soup and I haven't stopped thinking about it since. What a gorgeous story that was, one thing about Eyra, their words make their way into my brain and change it a little every time, I think.
i cannot wait to get into Marginalia, i keep sneaking over to look at spoilers of that one, my willpower is working against me so badly with that one, it looks too good. TOO good.
I adore wolfstar raising harry and the only one of these I've read so far is Let's Play Pretend and i ADORED IT so I'm thoroughly looking forward to the rest of these - thank you ever so much! <3
The london underground being turned into a love story is the best thing to ever happen to it - my days of commuting left me bitter so I'm excited for this one too 👀
Better in the morning made me SOB oh my goodness. you have fantastic taste, at this point, I'd trust you with my life I think.
I haven't heard of that last one either, so I'm promptly bookmarking that, too.
You're truly a star for all of these recs and well wishes. not to mention that incredible boopysnoot pic, i feel very very lucky.
this was lovely. truly. thank you so very much, have the absolute best day! Lana xoxo

Cottage
(Sirius has had a nightmare, but it’ s not described. So...not exactly a CW but that’s in there.)
Sirius groped in the dark for his wand and lit the tip.
“Breathe with me, love,” Remus said. Sirius nodded, matching his breaths to Remus’s and his heart rate slowed accordingly.
“Sorry I woke you up.”
“I couldn't sleep either, Remus admitted. The was a rustling in the sheets as Sirius moved closer to Remus and laid his head down next to Remus's on the pillow.
They were quiet for a few minutes.
“Moony?”
“Yeah?”
“I think we should move. This place was our first home, but…so many memories.”
“Where should we move?” Remus asked, softly, running his fingers through Sirius’s hair.
“I’ve always wanted to live on the coast,” Sirius said. “A little cottage by the sea…fresh air…we could start a garden…” Sirius’s voice was getting more drowsy as he spoke.
“That sounds heavenly,” Remus said. “Moony and Padfoot could play in the waves…”
“Yeah…” Sirius trailed off and Remus knew he’d fallen asleep. He kissed his forehead and snuggled against him.
“We can start looking tomorrow,” Remus whispered.

a performance
hehe had fun with this. also, a note, the fics yesterday AHHH everyone killed it, i did indeed forget to reblog some of them bc im spacey and that happens but if i didn’t reblog yours, consider it beloved and cherished. every one i read was so good.
CW for implied future sexual content, if u want.
for prompt “passion”  @wolfstarmicrofic
Remus was happily snuggling into a sleep-warm pillow on the bed of either Sirius or Remus (they’re kind of indistinguishable now) when he was so rudely interrupted but the godawful singing coming from their shared bathroom. James and Peter were already at breakfast but Sirius and Remus had slept in. Well—Remus had slept in, Sirius had snuggled until he was restless and then got up to take a shower.
“Pads, shut up.” Remus shouts, half muffled by the pillow.
Unfortunately, Sirius does not shut up and honestly, did he just get louder?
“Padfoot, I swear to Merlin and Morgana, I will come in there if you don’t stop.”
I’m going to kill him, I think he just got even louder, what the fuck?
It’s his bloody passion, Sirius always says, no matter how many times Remus tells him he is absolutely tone-deaf. Remus supposes it’s only fair, for him to be bad at something. The universe reminding him that he isn’t perfect at everything he does. Apparently the universe didn’t account for Sirius’s inability to believe he is bad at anything nor his “passion” or whatever the fuck. Merlin, it is too early.
Remus drags himself out of bed. He’s only wearing boxers because it’s spring and he runs hot at night. He steps into the steamy bathroom and his brain catches up to him. Of course he was getting louder you bloody idiot.
“Oh! Moony, didn’t hear you get up, care to join me?” The conniving grin on his face tells Remus everything he just figured out. He rolls his eyes but drops his boxers and shoves Sirius out of the stream of water.
“You prick.” But Sirius grins so Remus smiles back.
