Ellie feels something feather against her cheek.

The two of you are watching a new movie neither of you had seen before. It was interesting for sure, but sometimes your mind ventures back into the heart-quickening realization that your girlfriend exists and has a place in your life. 

Shifting her face away from the screen and towards you, she smiles lazily as she realizes it was your lips. However, you catch her slightly off-guard again as you quickly perch a delicate smooch on the very tip of her nose.

She blinks at you, effectively asking, ‘What are you doing?’ using only an expression. You simply shrug,

“I'm playing a game.”

“What kinda game?”

“The rules are for every time I think of you, I have to kiss you.”

You always manage to find new ways to make Ellie blush; were you trying to do so on purpose? She unconsciously leans towards you as you prepare your next attack,

“I can’t-” kiss “tell if i’m-” peck “good or bad-” kiss “at this game.”

Ellie’s heart is fluttering in her chest. Despite being breathless, she manages to mumble out,

“I think you’re the best at this.”

After decorating your lips onto her face and neck, even her hair, enough to make her freckles worry of being outnumbered, you suddenly lean back and let out a breathless ‘phew!’ You even fan your face for dramatic effect,

Ellie is speechless as you chirp,

“I think I need to pause the game for a bit.”

Laughter erupts from Ellie; it’s impossible to hold back the giggles any longer. Your silliness sends her heart and soul into cloud nine instantly, she can’t help but feel her body glow with love.

Ellie has moments like these too, when she remembers just who she gets to hold in her arms every night. Who she gets to wake up to every morning. Who she gets to watch back-to-back movies with for hours on end. She’s losing herself in your eyes already, and you chuckle at her awed daze, knowing exactly how she’s feeling.

Maintaining eye contact as best you can, you lean in impossibly closer; tilting your head in a way that your nose and forehead are cradled in her own. In this proximity, you flutter your eyelashes to tickle Ellie's freckles with butterfly kisses. Effectively leaving her giddy beyond comprehension.

She closes her laptop with a swift smack and shoves it to the side before practically launching herself on top of you. Wrapping her arms around your body, thus effectively encasing you into her cuddle trap, you squeal when she blows a raspberry on the side of your neck. Threading your fingers in her hair, with your nose deep in her tresses and inhaling the scent that both puts you to sleep and wakes you up every day. One that just screamed ‘Ellie!’

Later

The movie was long finished. The bright screen that previously lit the room replaced with a cool blanket of moonlight through the window. You had fallen asleep against Ellie's neck after your little play-wrestling, who was now absent-mindedly drawing things on your back. She's just finished drawing a heart between your shoulder blades when Ellie feels the familiar brush of your lips against her collarbone. She feels a smile already creeping up on her face,

“What are you doing?”

“I'm un-pausing the game.”

"We're in the Blue Palace," Fennorian said, slightly confused. "There's plenty of guards here. Why would you need me to keep watch?" If it were any other circumstance, Fenn would have been more than happy to stand guard for his friend. The Palace was probably the most secure place he knew of, so the question caught him off guard.

The Vestige shrugged. "I just feel safer with you around."

"...This doesn't have anything to do with that Grey Host assass-"

"You hush," she growled, glaring at the vampire as he stifled a laugh. "That blade came too close for comfort."

"All right, all right, I see your point," Fenn raised his hands in mock surrender. "In all seriousness, whatever you need, my friend. I'm happy to help."

The Vestige sighed with relief.

Fennorian couldn't sleep. Even if he were able to, the sweet embrace of rest avoided him.

He was currently going over some notes at the nearby desk. The heightened senses that came with vampirism aided him in "keeping watch", though he was more focused on the book at the moment. A quick glance out the window told him, judging by the sliver of moonlight, it was around two or three in the morning. Not a sound to be heard, save for his papers moving, inside or outside. Not even the crickets or the dog a few doors down.

The sudden rustling of fabric caught his attention, and he turned his gaze to the large double bed where the Vestige currently slept. She was laying on her side, and Fenn could just barely make out her quiet breathing. He indulged a brief impulse of curiosity and used his abilities to sense her vitals:

She was in a very, very deep sleep. Her heartbeat had slowed to a resting pace, her body completely relaxed and at ease, and her breathing was even and steady. One could drop a potion bottle next to her and she probably wouldn't wake.

As quietly as he could, Fennorian stood up and gently pushed the desk chair in. He made his way over to the bed, book still in hand.

The vampire sat down on the unoccupied side of the bed, propping himself against the pillows and headboard. As he got himself comfortable, the Vestige shifted in her sleep slightly. He reached over and gently stroked her hair to try and soothe her. It seemed to work, as she settled back in almost instantly. His hand moved automatically as he brushed a stray wisp of hair from her face, and for the briefest of moments, Fenn thought he saw her smile.

It could have just been his imagination, though.

He set the book on the nightstand and turned his full attention to the Vestige. In a very gentle, tender motion, Fenn slipped his hand under the cheek that rested on the pillow, cradling her face in his palm. She startled a moment, likely from his hand being cold. Almost instinctively, she leaned into his touch, causing the vampire to smile. To think he could elicit this kind of a reaction from her, even while she was still completely asleep...

Though vampires cannot feel temperature like mortals do, Fennorian felt an undeniable warmth from her presence. His thumb moved across the Vestige's cheek, gently stroking as her slow, steady breathing filled his ears. Cautiously, carefully, Fenn slid his hand out from under the Vestige's face. He then used his hands to push himself down a bit so he was laying on his back, head now comfortably centered on the plush pillows. Once he had settled in, he let out a contented sigh.

Being on the run more often than not had left Fennorian not being able to let his guard down. Deep sleep was now a foreign concept. But here, at the Blue Palace? With the Vestige at his side?

He could let his guard down for tonight.

This one's from The Sword and the Sorcerer (1982). It's a sword with THREE blades. Two of them shoot out of the hilt as projectiles- I love it. I would never use it.

I set out posting my art online initially to design "practical fantasy weapons", and while I haven't abandoned the "practical" part myself, going nuts on weapon designs is still just really fun to do.

Doesn't have to be "practical". Depending on the context, the looks can be more important than the functionality.

Sanderson depicts shardblades in The Stormlight Archive as being ultralight to justify their size. Fun middleground, but not always necessary.

Actual martial artists can already hurt themselves using tried-and-tested weapons from history (i.e. there is someone to learn how they use them from), let alone the average untrained gamer with something out of fantasy.

Doesn't stop people from trying. Baltimore Knife and Sword are among the many blacksmiths who routinely produce real world versions of fictional weaponry (look up Man at Arms: Reforged on YouTube) and recently Digitally Twisted Outlaws (also on YouTube) started training with one such giant replica Dragonslayer, and dubbed their weapon-style the "Colossus Sword Form".

Bottom line, just have fun with it. Don't get too bogged down by what's consistent with real world usage, especially when the context is fictional.

1. Base Game: Shadows of Yharnam easily, while they don’t have cool lore to add into the game, but they make up for it in spades in terms of fun factor. The learning curve, and figuring out which Shadow to go after always manages to offer me tons of excitement and joy!

DLC: It has to go to Ludwig, fighting him for the first time I didn’t think of him much till the second phase hit. Good lord… that second phase man! It’s a literal spectacle in of itself, and the music is the definition of heavenly~ (tis unfortunate I can’t solo him anymore like the first time, always gotta consult Valtr’s help for him now.)

4. Ooh tricky, if we’re talking dex my favorites have to be the Rakuyo and Burial Blade, both of these weapons are really fun to use and the transformation from their normal form to their trick mode is so cool! As for strength, using the Holy Moonlight Blade also oozes fun factor for me, I know it’s not as good as Ludwig’s Holy Blade but… come on! Its a magic sword that glows teal, and shoots arcane waves and blasts at your opponents how is that not cool!

8. Doll will always be my one pookie, always gives me a sense of comfort whenver I return to the dream, just sucks we can’t hug her. Honorable mention goes to the Oedon Chapel Dweller, he’s been my homie in the entirety of Yharnam especially with how hostile nearly everyone is towards you.

9. Byrgenwerth, it be very prettyyyyy, love looking at the lake and moon.

10. Laurence, I can never consistently kill this man. the first time I did I called for help online bc I got fed up with attempting him so many times. And the second time I just spammed Blacksky eye till I extinguished him. I don’t know why but the moment he loses his legs my attempt just gets thrown out the window for me, that’s not to say that his first phase is easy for its still plenty difficult for me.

Oh and- the Pthumerians and the Chalice Dungeons should’ve had more of a presence in the story, their placement in the game feels like an afterthought!

49. 😤 The fashion my dude, and the weapons! I could go on for HOURS about how I love these two specific aspects of Bloodborne. But that would mean clogging this entire ask up and I wouldn’t want to do that to you. Look if these things were actually real, I would get them in a heart beat.

Just returned from a weekend Girl By Moonlight binge. Firstly, it's always lovely to meet and play in person with my normally online group and also to take three days straight to become fully emmersed in a game.

This was our first time playing Girl By Moonlight, but most of us knew how to fitd.

We ended up spending almost half our time building the world and characters but the fact that that was actually really fun is a great sign for the game, which obviously has a lot of stuff built towards campaign play.

It presents 4 'series' options as a layer of setting and additional rules to model different magical girl and magical girl adjacent stories. We went for the the mecha one. The series setup does a really good job of guiding the group through a partially constrained collaberative wordbuilding process that gives you a setting that's tightly suited for a particular story but also really interesting and that you feel invested in.

For the mech setting specifically an interesting part was that everyone designs a mech and then states why their character can't use it. It's cool in that you end up with mechs that feel more of their own independant thing, rather than an extention of each character (which is important for the themes). It does have a slight drawback that the less assertive players can easily get stuck with a mech that isn't really interesting to them.

We obviously haven't played enough to get a full view of the system, but I think it has some good twists on the blades formula. transendace is obviously central and acts as a good way to keep the extended blades issue of having too many dots at bay. Links as a way to bring focus to character relationships is also fun (although we were mostly working with links to our mechs).

I think sun, moon, and stars are really bad names for the attributes. I'm not sure even after a long campaign I would remember what each represents when I came to roll a resistance.

This was my mech pilot. She was grown in a vat specifically to interface with alien tech.

DR POKÉMON TEAMS

Kris!

1. Honedge/Aegislash: This is a reference to Kris's love of blades, and their knightly form in Dark Worlds. It is also a reference to their father's team in an alternate universe, and the Honedge that Chara has in Pokémon Undertale. I like to think it changes forms between worlds, becoming stronger and fully evolved in Dark Worlds so it's shield can be used to protect Kris and the people they care about.

2. Espeon☆/Umbreon☆: This Pokémon changes form depending on which world it's in at the time. It is a reference to Frisk's Eevee and to Kris's neutral-looking face. Its green colouration as shiny Espeon matches Kris in the Light World. The blue in shiny Umbreon matches their Dark World form. A lot of people consider Espeon's shiny to be ugly or weird; it resembles an alien, much in the way monsters in Hometown tend to think Kris is a freak, and how they stand out as the only Human. While Espeon is associated with sunlight and the day time, Umbreon is associated with moonlight and the night time.

3. Ralts: The same gender-neutral Pokémon shared by Chara and Frisk that can change into two different forms. For Kris, I imagine it evolves into a Gallade to reference Kris's knight-like appearance in the Dark World. As Gallade, this Pokémon fights fiercely to protect people it cares about. It would probably be one of Kris's most-used Pokémon, and would probably stay outside of its Pokéball in the Dark World to assist Kris with protecting their friends. I also like to think Gallade would look like its shiny form in the Dark World, since Gallade's shiny is blue...like Kris.

4. Applin/Flapple: A reference not only to Kris's apple-scented shampoo, but also their affinity for pie...which they apparently eat entirely in one sitting...It's a good thing Kris's childhood Applin didn't evolve into an Appletun! I think Kris was probably disappointed by that, though. Don't eat your Pokémon, Kris!! Applin's Dark World evolution, Flapple, is part dragon type, a nod to the typical "knight and dragon" dynamic. Kris is the knight, and Flapple is the dragon!

5. Gengar: A reference to Chara's Gastly, this Pokémon is associated with mischief, pranks, and hiding in the shadows. It likes to hide in dark places, and is sometimes said to be able to travel to other worlds or come from another world. It is also said to come out at night to "steal the lives of those who become lost in the mountains". It also has red eyes like Kris.

6. Alakazam: This Pokémon is not only a reference to Frisk's Abra and the need for sleep (which Kris apparently does in class quite often, accoding to Alphys), this is also a call-back to Kris researching the occult with Catti and being seemingly interested in the concept of performing magic (given their online search history), possibly in the hopes of becoming more monster-like such as the rest of their family.

As for Kris's Legendary and Mythical...let's complete what we've got going with Susie and Ralsei!

Kyogre: Kyogre is one of three ancient Pokémon, one that I imagine would be part of the Pokémon Deltarune's prophecy of the Three Heroes. It's blue like Kris and works in opposition to Susie's Groudon, but can also work with it to bring balance rather than destruction. Kyogre's water typing can reference fountains, roaring, and a sea of darkness splitting the earth and enveloping the world. It is said to sleep at the bottom of the sea.

Deoxys: This Pokémon is humanoid and comes from outer space. Its alien theming goes with Kris's Espeon, but also touches on Kris's alienation from the Monsters of Hometown (being the only Human we know of who lives there). Deoxys' ability to change forms could reference Kris's SOUL changing forms in various chapters. The stone in Deoxys' chest, which is what controls its whole body, could reference the Human SOUL in Kris's chest that controls them.

not to be a nerd or anything but im finally able to try lord of the rings online (after 2 past failed attempts at downloading it. System and spec issues yaknow) and maaann what i really needed was a real mmorpg like this. Ive been playing halfassed, shitty, cashgrab mobile mmos for most of my life. Even when there is a once in a blue moon good mobile game it has no players (moonlight blade mobile my beloved). Lotro feels so promising even 2 days into it. I can comfortably expect to play this game for years to come and it is just so large that i expect to never run out of new things to do and see
