Did you know that the moon is moving away from Earth at a rate of approximately 4 cm per year, which is about the same speed as our fingernails grow? This means that over time, the moon will appear smaller and smaller in the sky, and the Earth's days will become longer and longer.

The moon thinks stars are super pretty. She’s too far away to tell any of them, so she’s just hopelessly gay from far away forever :/

it’s almost here!
it’s cliche, but it has always felt like Friday the 13th was one of my luckier days, no matter how superstitious the people around me!
as I’ve grown up, it’s cool for other reasons -like low priced tattoos; but here’s some cool random facts and proof that Friday the 13th is actually a LUCKY day.
at least for women anyways (I’ll get to that in a minute)
but before we get there, let’s look at some silly superstitions, just for fun 🤓

Do you know that the Moon is receding from the Earth??? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Why is the Moon receding from the Earth? All of us are aware that the lunar gravity causes two tidal waves (one on the side of the Earth facing the Moon and the other on the opposite side) to run across the surface of the oceans. The tidal wave on the moon's sublunar side, due to friction against the Earth's solid surface, is ahead of the Moon in its apparent displacement across the sky by about 10 degrees. As the Moon orbits in the direction of Earth's rotation, the tidal wave pulls the Moon behind it and increases its speed. This causes the Moon to follow a slowly unwinding spiral trajectory and move 4 cm away from Earth each year. The same tidal friction slows down the Earth's axial rotation and increases the length of the day. After all, if the Moon enlarges its angular momentum, the Earth must decrease it, so that the total momentum of this pair remains constant. . . . #facts #space #aesthetic #factsdaily #factsonfacts #spacetravel #factsonly #factsss #spaceexploration #factsarefacts #facts‼️ #facts💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯 #aestheticphotos #aestheticquote #spacelessgallery #factsdontliepeopledo #factsforall #factsoninstagram #moonfacts #thetornbytes #aestheticlife #aestheticthoughts #aestheticwallpaper #sciencebased #spacepics #spaceaesthetic #scienceporn #spacejam11 #sciencemarch #moon (at India) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cfk4EOXq789/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The Moon is Earth's only natural satellite and the closest large celestial body. It has been known since prehistoric times and is the second brightest object in the sky after the Sun. It is represented by the symbol ☽. Its English name, like Earth's, is derived from Germanic and Old English.Throughout history, the Moon's desolate beauty has piqued people's interest and inspired a rich cultural and symbolic tradition. The Moon was revered as a deity in ancient civilizations, and its dominion was evident in its rhythmic control over the tides and the cycle of female fertility. The Moon's power to instil magic in spells, transform humans into beasts, and send people's behaviour swaying perilously between sanity and lunacy (from the Latin luna, "Moon") is told in ancient lore and legend.
