Since the hiatus for John's game is almost over I've decided to compile a list of other reasons his Hunger could manifest:

Chase Instinct

Open Wounds/Lots of blood

Those two are just typical residual monster instincts, really. However, here's my personal favorite:

Strong Emotion.

Because really, I feel his Hunger and his desire for love are very much entwined. It could absolutely lead to new problems as well- like, oops! Did something happen that made John be afraid he'll lose a friend? What if that fear were to turn to hunger, huh? What then. Fear of losing a friend isn't the only reason it can happen, of course, but that's the first thing that comes to mind. Anger can turn to monstrous instincts, as shown in one of the previous sessions, and if his mental state is strange enough, for lack of better words, I feel like extreme fondness can also turn to hunger. It can also lead to him trying to deal with and despair over this, the fact that his hunger and want for love are so entwined

I love cannibalism and what it can symbolize, and while I love my boy John I'm also here to make his worse <3

in the current fallen london event, disposing bombs in the zee has hit a Lorn-Fluke (giant terrifying eldritch sea urchin thing) and now we have to drive the fluke's dangerously firey wrath away from London. If you don't know a lot about flukes, your only option is to shoot it to make it go away. If you've learned more about the kind of thing the fluke is and the language it speaks, a new option unlocks: to apologise, and insist that London was negligent, but did not mean to hit it.

...This has happened before, about a year ago. Samuel, at the time, only had the option to shoot it in the eye, but the good doctor Lukas (@slightly-sigilant's character) had the option to apologise, and I mentioned that if they were on the same boat, Sam would hold off on firing and let him speak. Watching Lukas communicate with this monster -- and seeing that it worked -- changed his whole understanding of the Neath. It's also the reason Samuel put real effort into learning the Correspondence, while seeing Sam was willing to hold off was what led Lukas to encourage him towards visiting Flute Street, and to send him regular lessons on Correspondence.

And now, Sam has that knowledge; he can see an option he couldn't before. I DUNNO MAN IT JUST GOT ME. IM A LIL EMOTIONAL ABOUT IT.

Oh damn, is it just me or did your art skills just get even better? How do you manage this? I’m starting to think you have some sort of magic 🤔

Oh for sure, I don't do all those sacrifices for nothing! Much more affordable than going to art school 👍

To be fair though, I've been drawing these dragons pretty consistently since january of 2024, so it makes sense that I'd get better at it.

Say i know this really out of the blue but can you imagine children of magical beings from greek mythology other then the gods themselves like a child of Circe/Medea or a demigod who's a child of Echidna/Arachne etc what's your thoughts on that?

this is my dear darling oc Archie who is a daughter of Arachne. I also have another oc who is a demigod himself but is the father of some drakons. I love getting funky with character parentage and particularly for like Medea and Circe and Pasiphaë i think it's perfectly reasonable for them to possibly have demigod children, since in particular the three of them are all interchangeably referred to as goddesses semi-frequently.

I don't really have much else to say on the matter though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I love getting funky about demigods of unusual origins! I think they're neat! There's a lot you can do with 'em and a lot of different ways to approach it! That's about it, really.

HTTYD OC posting hrs, meet Sifgrid the Savage (AKA Sif!)

I changed her name since posting this lmao, it used to be Sifgrid the Spirited. She is a tall warrior lady with a soft centre deep down. She’s made a vow to never show fear again!

She lives on a remote island called NoWhere with her best friend, Jev the Jumbled, a scientist with fibromyalgia. Sif helps him gather ingredients and conduct experiments. The village thinks Jev is odd but they like Sif, so they leave him alone in his workshop. On her fetch quests for her friend, Sif also looks for her long lost brother. She knows he is probably dead, but still she wonders.

Her dragon is a Monstrous Nightmare named RoseThorn, the runt of his clutch and the jumpiest of dragons ever. Thorn encourages Sif to show her softer side, and Sif hypes up RT to be fearless!

here’s some ✨backstory✨ below the cut if interested;

Sif didn’t come from NoWhere. She came from a faraway neighbouring village to Eret’s, called Arvengarde. Her family was known for sheep herding, but her brother Kova always yearned for adventure. Sif had a phobia of dragons, always hiding from them whenever she caught sight of them in the skies, making her a terrible shepherd as the dragons would come down and easily pick off the sheep she was supposed to be guarding. She’d get nightmares about them attacking her home and maiming her family. Her dad always believed in her though, saying she’d get the hang of it eventually.

Her village was attacked by Drago after refusing to cooperate with him, as they hated and feared dragons and would never work alongside them. During the raid, Sif’s father urges her to run, but frozen in terror, she doesn’t. Her parents are killed in front of her, but her brother convinces the soldiers to spare him and his sister, offering to join Drago’s army instead. They are put on a dragon trapping crew and meet someone very familiar 👀

Kova and Sif are all each other have left, so Sif decided that in order to protect her brother, she must never show fear again. But something happens one day that changes everything...

He's intended to have all skrill abilities, though lacks any abilities from the monstrous nightmare, or whispering death genus.

the Snotfam!! this entire sketch page started because I love the vision of Snotlout being the one who braids Tora’s hair

some additional fun facts about them:

Sven and Tora were adopted by Snotlout after being found as stowaways on a dragon hunter ship when they were 7 and 2 years old

Ragnar is surprisingly close to grandpa Spitelout (he’s still kicking lol)

Snotlout’s wife and Ragnar’s mother died not too long after they adopted Sven and Tora

Sven takes the most after Snotlout when it comes to personality (hence Heatwave also being a Monstrous Nightmare)
