This came to me while I was watching Monster's Inc. and Sulley said "Did you lose weight? Or a limb?"

I can imagine that in a situation like this, joking about it would be Leo's way of trying to calm down both himself and those around him.

I can also imagine that if Donnie wasn't there or had no way of knowing what happened at the exact moment, he would be absolutely floored to see that not only has his brother lost an arm......but he's making jokes about it If only he had heard even half of the ones Mikey had to hear on the way back

Also I could be totally wrong on that 7 lbs (3.1 kg) thing that was a big guesstimate

What the LOA Too Many Games live show was like from someone who was there, in no particular order:

-there was a Sarnax cosplayer in front of me (nails and all). When I complimented their cosplay they gave me an 'offering' (lifesaver candy)

-the whole story was about saving Gideon, an obvious riff on the fact that Mace wasn't there.

-Part of Kremys introduction was that he's ironically married to Gideon. Happy pride.

-Torbek tried to break a mirror with mind powers. Andy screamed for a solid minute I think. Torbek canonically burst a blood vessel.

-Kremy just breaks it with his cane

-Shout out to the pair in front of me who had muffins (delicious) and balloon animals (pictured below)

-There was very loud music playing from the other room and this was referenced in character by Mikey. "It sounds like they're airing a trailer for the next fast and the furious"

-My mom thinks Torbek sounds like Roz from Monsters Inc

-They went to a fortune teller, who (among many things other things) told Torbek he was going to die in Ye Olde Arby's in Ye Olde Columbus Ohio

-Nikkie: You hear Gideons laughter-

The boys- *immediately begin imitating Mace's laughter*

-Theres no other way to say this. Frost and Torbek have sex in the tunnel of love

-the man behind me was very excited for Chuckles. Love that for him.

-Shout out to a well meaning parent that was clearly dragged by the rest of his family and at one point was on the Avantris wiki. I love you.

-There was another body swap. Poor three voice Derek got stuck trying to chuckles again

-Kremy: Gideon once told a joke like "What's the difference between three cocks and a joke? Kremy can't take a joke" I still don't get it.

-Kremy, later, while they're all cursed to laugh: Oh I get that joke Gid said now hahahah

I think Hori was kind of a genius when he came up witgh "Kacchan" as a concept. I mean why and how did he decide that Izuku would refer Bakugo as Kacchan since the start of the story? A crazy and unhinged idea tbh

As much as I would love to believe that Hori was a genius for that, it’s actually something pretty common amongst children and childhood friends and people with close relationships in general. It’s only a step up from calling someone their first name with an honorific. You’ll see it in other anime’s occasionally being said amongst childhood friends/family members. The same concept is used in the light novels between Macchan and Takkun (two childhood playmates that show up for a chapter and never really show up again) and actually, Ochaco calling Izuku “Deku-kun” isn’t much different.

I know people make jokes about the English equivalent being like someone calling another person “baby” or “pookie” or “snookums” or something, which I’ve always loved, but in reality it’s more like calling your friend Michael “Mikey” or calling your friend Thomas “Tommy” in childhood, and just continuing to call him that as you grow up instead of calling him his actual name. Mike and Sully do the same thing in Monsters inc. (this reminds me that I still need to write that post about the parallels between those two and bkdk ajdbejd)

All of that being said though, I do think it’s kind of unhinged for Hori to decide to have Deku keep the cutesy nickname for him despite their relationship being really bad. It would’ve been one thing if Deku had kind of a petty personality and called him Kacchan to tease or make fun of him kind of like Katsuki did with “Deku,” but that’s not at all the case… he still calls him Kacchan out of childlike adoration. I think that goes to show that Izuku still saw Katsuki’s strengths over his flaws as opposed to the opposite for most other characters. A lot, if not all, of his class were quick to point out how shit his personality was, but Izuku rarely said much about it.

It’s always “yeah he’s kind of a nasty guy, but he’s amazing in every way” or just “he’s amazing.” Even though Izuku was on the other end of Katsuki’s treatment, he would never really like to acknowledge his bad side that much unless he felt like it was needed. I think it’s Izuku trying to keep up the idea of how he saw Katsuki as a kid and didn’t want to ruin that for himself by hating him. He just wanted to be near him and watch him be amazing without much regard of what Katsuki would do to him as a result and I honestly can’t tell if that’s a good or bad thing. My minds leaning towards bad cuz of Izuku’s self sacrificial tendencies even in his childhood, resorting to following around the kid who hates having him around because he views him as the friendly neighborhood All Might in the making, but at the same time, I think it’s honorable how forgiving of a person Izuku is to be able to see the good in literally everything when the bad is literally punching you in the face. So basically, “Kacchan” is the hero he sees in Katsuki, making “Kacchan” the name of a hero, which is why it’s important to him that Uraraka helped him reevaluate his own nickname, making “Deku” the name of a hero instead of the useless kid Katsuki trying to view him as. And I think Katsuki had a hard time accepting that, because he’s always seen Deku as a hero and just never wanted to admit it to himself because he also saw him as weak.

Izuku’s a better man than me, cuz if my relationship with my childhood friend turned into that, my new nickname for them would probably be “fucking bitch” for the rest of my life, even if we started to get along again.

But that’s why I think it’s also so important and honestly a lot more meaningful for Katsuki to start calling him “Izuku” again and only calling him Deku when it’s in a heroic context, because it signifies things going back “to normal” between them when it hasn’t been normal since they were literally four years old. “Izuku” is Katsuki accepting him and accepting the fact that he genuinely cares about him. He’s not just some “Deku” anymore and he didn’t feel like it was justifiable to keep pretending like he ever was.

I retract my first statement. You’re right Anon - Hori is definitely a genius for that. He somehow made the way they refer to each other an arc of its own and gave so much meaning to something that a lot of people wouldn’t really care about. And it’s kind of beautiful tbh.

This crossover Pixar ship between Merida and Randall Boggs was created by @twisting-echo, who also ships Belle from Beauty and the Beast with Sulley. Making both cross Disney ships be of a Disney Princess x Pixar Monster. I wonder what other DP x PM ships she could come up with? I know that thaliasonata has crack-shipped some Monsters, Inc. monsters with characters from Encanto. To be honest Monsters, Inc. wasn't my favourite Pixar film just as Randy here wasn't my favourite character, but I did enjoy Monsters University and was surprised how nice and awkward young college Randall was. I think that's why I have developed a bit of a soft spot for this ship. Twisting-Echo also stated that if Randy remained friends with Mikey and never started to resent Sulley, he might have never turned bad at all. Most of Twisting-Echo's edits and moodboards/collages have used MU Randy and Merida's cameo from Ralph Breaks the Internet, that's why I focused on those versions of them for the collage. It is a gift for @twisting-echo. This ship has gone by "Meridall", "DunBoggs" and "Chase the Winds of Change".

I adore how this came out and I'm so excited to see him in person! I love how you took an idea and ran with it, turning it into this lovely creation!

Custom Care Bear - Sulley Bear! (Monsters Inc.)

I was a little bored last week, just chatting with some friends on a discord server, and I felt like sewing, so I asked if anyone would like a custom Care Bear.  One of our group members, the always creative @thrawnsromcom , had an interesting suggestion – a Monsters Inc themed bear based on Sulley. 

I just so happened to have a 2018 “Easter” Wish Bear in a lamb costume, as seen in this pic:

l had got her as part of a bulk lot, and honestly had no idea what to do with her.  She ended up being perfect to “cosplay” as something else!

I used a felt-layering technique to make the tummy symbol, with sparkly embroidered outlines.  The pupil of the eye is also embroidered, and scraps of blue fabric from the M made for the perfect foot claws.

The horns are custom made, out of purple cotton.  The hood can still be pulled back, showing regular Care Bear ears underneath.

The old lamb ears were repurposed to make Sulley’s tail! 

Finally, I made a “Little Mikey” plushie to go along with him.  I found the pattern for Little Mikey at the linked youtube video, though I had to modify it a bit due to how tiny the “plushie’s plushie” ended up being.

Little Mikey’s eye and mouth are also hand-embroidered.

Still wish I could have figured out how to give him Sulley’s purple fur splotches (I don’t think I could have pulled off dyeing him without messing up the rest of his fur), but I think he turned out pretty good, all things considering :D

Headcanon: The GUN Commander's name is still Micheal but wants to be called Abraham because it sounds "cooler" and more important than being merely nicknamed 'Mikey.'

Might as well reflect the insecurity of the one who came up with Abraham, after all. :^)

More Monsters Inc Headcanons!

You know Mike's stuffed bear Lil Mikey that Boo liked and Mike took away? Mike makes her one as an apology for originally making her cry.

Boo ends up calling it Lil Mikey Jr. or Tiny Mikey.

Mike and Sulley sneak it in with Boo's Christmas presents so her parents won't question where it came from or how she got it. As it is, her parents are so confused that she loves the teddy bear abomination so much.

It's probably the most ugly-looking thing ever, because it's homemade by two monsters who can't sew to save their lives, but the fact that it looks so bad is honestly part of why Boo loves it so much.

Donnie would be COVERED in burns from electrical equipment-

He’s the same genius turtle, but he doesn’t have the experience or resources to prevent himself from getting hurt. He does create some amazing machines but-✨the scars✨

Mikey-his signature orange spots are much more scattered and mostly covered in paints and bruises- The razzmatazz cannot save him from face planting a wall-

Trying to recreate certain scenes he sees in human media that falls into his home with no prior experience is a-no babe-

Y e s, Donnie would totally be covered in some kind of scarring, whether it be burns or just general gashes from messing with power tools and technology.

Also agree for Mikey, I love him to death but he is always in some form covered in some form of art supplies. Paint, glitter glue, googly eyes, etc.

I was also entertaining the idea of Mikey having a kind of chameleon type power, being able to shift the color of his scales/shell to blend in better with his surroundings (like Randel from Monsters Inc.). It would make it all the scarier when he's hunting you down ejwn
