Something I think deserves more recognition with G1 is the playsets
I mean look, they made it look like she’s encased in water! That’s one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen in a doll playset! Not to mention that they made it so the doll never got wet, it was such a genius design to me at the time and still is.
Draculauras coffin bed! They somehow managed to make a coffin look stylish and cute, but also made it so it was practical and doubled as a jewelry box, but made it so that gimmick aspect was seemless and didn’t take away from how pretty the actual playset itself was. Not to mention the tv that comes down?! Too good!
Even the playsets that aren’t bedroom related are just so good. The Scaris Cafe set has so many little intricate details sculpted onto it, it’s so cute. The menu boards, the little skullette lights, I love it all.
Don’t get me started on Astranovas Floation Station either! Like, she can float?! You’re kidding me! They could have easily made it so she just strapped into the set, but the fact they used a gimmick so she can actually float is so cool!
I know I tend to rave constantly about all things MH, but I really do think these playsets are little works of art. The sheer amount of sculpting and details on them really take my breath away. They don’t even need a doll displayed with them to make them feel complete and eye catching on my shelf, I can leave them completely empty and they’re still fun to look at. I love it.

Today's Gen3 sighting!
Went to a local toy chain and found a bunch of new dolls!
First of all, finally saw Cleo! She is super pretty, love her face. Abbey is so cohesive and shiny!
Saw Deuce and Clawd too, this one particular Deuce screening is not the best, but I didn't look around for a better one. Clawd's hair is really nice, maybe eyes could be just a tad smaller but he's cute.
They had 2 playsets, Dustin with the mountain dew is a nice touch😂
The last one says this month's toy is MH, probably bc they're new and they want people to see them and get to know the line (hence the sale). Also, they don't have Hungarian text (for example bios of the characters) on the back of the boxes anymore.
Didn't see Skulltimate Secrets line 1 so far anywhere but I'll be on the lookout (sucks that the dolls are not visible tho lol).

See, with Draculaura's hair styled like that, she looks just like Momoi Satsuki as a goth vampire!
I created the strawberry ice-cream tower myself with the 3d pen!!!
The swirly white with pink creamy top actually was part of a limited cheap doll line in these regions, the dolls were like Polly Pockey meets chibi styles dolls that each came in these ice cream cones.
The polly pocket vibe felt so nostalgic and the chibi dolls themselves made for cute and cheap OOAK projects, but I was stuck with these plastic ice cream cones after managing to buy 4 of them.
And then I was hit with the lightning of inspiration, as I remembered owning the Barbie Rapunzel tower when I was a kid.
So I decided to use the ice cream cone lid as a roof and started drawing a tower structure attached to it and this is how it turnt out! For a first time making a doll playset, I did quite the excellent job!
(yeah, my dreams of becoming a name in children's entertainment isn't limited to writing. I love designing toys)
(also please ignore the fact our window is a little dirty)

I used a box cutter to cut around the plastic instead of pulling it out so the glue wouldn't pull away the background picture. Its still full of holes though but I might be able to work around that.
Draculaura is cute of course but this hair is awful. Dry, rough and shedding straight out of the box.

also, a fun thing I noticed about the g3 dolls:
while they're still appealing enough in quality for adult fans like me, they're also the right balance of that and kid-friendly imo? the clothing isn't too fragile, and most notably, they come with a bunch of accessories with handles. I feel like this makes creative play easier, as well as more fun with lots of little props!
