Cheesus crust, this came out SO RED.

so I found out what was wrong with my graphics tablet, the driver I had was outdated and I needed to change the gamma with Nvidia. But now it's the opposite of the problem I had before where the laptop screen shows it as super saturated and the graphics tablet is lacking in colors. I'll come back to edit this post after tweaking the colors a bit.

I realized I do not render things enough so Netflix Monkey King is going to be my test subject for coloring and shading.

So yesterday I sat and watched Netflix's The Monkey King with my girlfriend (@plague-rat-judas) because she watched it, had it become her latest hyperfixation and wanted to rewatch it with me.

I can't speak to it's accuracy to Journey To The West, taoism or anything like that as someone who isn't as familiar with the source nor the cultures it's rooted in as some, so I'm firmly staying in my lane there and leaving that to them. But as a film? I enjoyed it! It definitely had some pacing issues, but most of the character designs and a lot of the set pieces were cool! It felt like it teased at certain themes without really delving into them as much as it could've, but I liked it for what it was.

My favourite character was probably the Dragon King, but my girlfriend is currently blorboifying this Sun Wukong and there isn't a whole lot of art of him out there yet, so who would I be if I weren't to enable that by drawing him for her? 💖

Don't ask how many screenshots I had to look at to eyeball his pauldrons and get them to look right-- 💀
