what do you think fry's family is like!!! i love him sooo much every time you draw him it's like a gift 🥺🥺🥺
WAUGHGHGHJ these Fry questions make me so happy since he's my Blorbo(TM) <3 Gah I'm itching to talk about him, so ask and you shall deserve!! Also thank you SO much I'm so glad you love my art <33
Tumblr media
little sketches related to what I'm about to yap about. ANYWAYS here's wonderwall
So on my old account I used to hc he is Indian-British, whose family hails from Travancore (Kerala nowadays). This was based on what I ASSUMED was canon info since back in January, all Chicken Run wiki articles about him mentioned he's Indian-British. But apparently that's not 100% settled info what his ethnicity is?? And the wikis have been edited since. His VA Nick Mohammed is from a mixed Cypriot/Indo-Trinidadian family though and I spent time reading about Indian-British immigrant history to get Fry's characterization accurate, so imma keep with that hc.
Anyway! I headcanon Marcus is the only child of wealthy businessmen that owned a highly successful trade company. His Vaishya grandparents moved to Britain during the late Victorian era; after all one of the only ways a PoC family could make it back then in Britain was by being filthy rich, and very early on the Fry family had been forced to adopt a "British" way of living in order to be taken seriously by the shitass imperial society. Such as switching to a British surname and avoiding to display too much of their original culture in public. A colonial trauma that still prevails, since Fry's parents christened him with a heavily English name.
I REEEALLY wanna give a try to designing Fry's parents sometime!! But I imagine his parents as sort of a healthier parallel to Melisha's parents; his father is a pristine and calm gentleman with a soothing voice and a love for theatre and literature (a trait that Marcus inherited LMAO) while his mother is more stern, headstrong and very, VERY proud of her status. (but she also has a infectuous smile and laughter and has a bombastic overdramatic streak...something that Fry inherited as well)
They're both native Malayam speakers, and while their family in public strives to keep Keralite culture hidden, they made sure to teach Marcus to speak his native language fluently as well, along with Hindi, Bengali, Tegulu and Tamil. Along with that, they frequently go on family trips to Travancore and enjoy things like inji neer, Kathakali performances (which inspired Fry on his love for theatre <3) and Carnatic music.
Both parents pushed Marcus to study hard and gain multiple academic degrees - it was all out of love and concern, because they wanted Marcus to be able to survive in the cruel world out there without only relying on his money. (Once again, a PoC immigrant family experience that I can identify with as well... even if society nowadays is not nearly as racist as it was back then, unfortunately PoC people are often forced to study waaaay harder than white people in order to make it.) Because they had lived through the years of great depression in the 1930s, and while they managed to survive with most of their wealth intact, they knew that one should not rely only on money for support since anything could happen.
Fry, as a child, was a gifted A+ grade student and a very well-behaved, so his parents called him a little ray of sunshine and a future hope. He yearned to be perfect so his parents would never be disappointed in him. Something that later on contributed MASSIVELY to Fry's gifted child burnout, and how he adopted a sinister, sadistic fascination with mind control and manipulation during his Cambridge years.
Once Marcus came out as trans and genderfluid to his parents, his father was very patient and accepting, but his mother spent several years in denial before finally accepting him. Not directly out of transphobia - but because she was afraid that Marcus would be discriminated, attacked and hurt by people, and that he should focus first on building a career for himself instead of bringing a bad name to the Fry family like this, with an outrageous gender identity. But she soon realized that hiding himself would only hurt her child on the long run. Also - the way Fry managed to fully bribe (cough mind control cough) British officials to switch the gender in his personal info and passport was nothing less than impressive to both of his parents LMFAOOOO and they're very proud
However despite all of this, Fry retains a loving relationship to his parents!! He goes to their mansion every Christmas, and they're also VERY accepting and encouraging to his marriage to Melisha. In fact, his mom was relieved to see Fry had married a very orderly, stern and no-nonsense woman, because Marcus had always been a scatterbrained mess and a reckless money-spender. He made a wonderful scientist, but business-running had never been his thing, so Melisha taking care of all that is like a lottery win to the Fry parents. ESPECIALLY since Melisha came from a poor household - a woman like this, who knows what it's like to live at the rock bottom, surely knows to keep Marcus humble and not let him make flimsy business decisions!! (either way Melisha is still a bit intimidated by Fry's mom, which says a lot considering what kind of a girl Melisha herself is LMFAO)
Pluuuus... the Harsh Expectations(TM) is something that Melisha can relate to </3 It's something that catches her entirely off guard, when she learns this detail about Fry's past. After all, the silly goofy doctor is like an endless ray of sunshine, he's rich and successful. (and we all know what Melisha's mother told her about money bringing happiness...) How could he ever have any worries or feelings of inferiority??
It's a detail that makes (in my hcs) Melisha fall even deeper in love with Fry and become tenfold more protective over him :''') <3 Once she realizes what a horrific burden this goofball is carrying on his back, and yet he still finds the energy every day to stay positive, be optimistic and support Melisha during her hard days.

Stage 3: the pilot announced it was 43°C (109.4F) in Delhi as we landed.
There was barely an immigration queue for foreigners with e-visas, the agent who stamped me in was bizarrely attractive (not that immigration agents can't be hot, it's just not usually their defining feature, especially when middle-aged). I loitered a bit in the arrivals hall and took out some cash before enacting my plan to take the airport metro down one stop and walk to my hotel. I fended off the lone cabby who complimented my hairstyle and made an unsuccessful go at convincing me my hotel wasn't near the metro. I managed the metro security and ticket-buying largely because I'd watched an 'intro to Hindi' video in which the teacher warned that he who attempts to queue nicely in India will be waiting for an eternity. I loitered in the metro station when it became clear that finding the hotel was NOT as easy as google maps might have indicated (on account of an intervening construction site). I made a confused loop back to the entrance before my GPS finally deigned to cooperate, but a tuk tuk driver had already smelled tourist blood in the water and started following me. I told him I was walking "to see the world" and "have an experience". Either baffled or convinced I was insane, he gave up.
My hotel had been around the corner all along, I got a bit misgendered while checking in, and felt out of place in a 5 star establishment with my backpack and dusty sneakers, but they did confirm my reservation, take my money, and give me a room key. I had added on all meals, to save myself having to go looking for sustenance in a new land after a long flight and this is where the real delight began: dinner was a buffet, and perhaps I was making a fool of myself (sometimes there's no getting around this stage) because the waiters came to help me, but eventually I had eaten so many amazing starters, curries, naan, and desserts that I thought they would have to roll me back to my room. I had warned myself not to set my expectations with Bollywood movies but the dining room singer did perform Ikk Kudi from Udta Punjab...

Tomorrow it's back to the airport, but today's been alright.

DISCLAIMER: This post has been used by multiple accounts on multiple sites. You may have seen this before.  TRIGGER WARNING: While there aren't any dark topics mentioned in this post, they are abundant in the story. If you are uncomfortable with self-harm, swearing, depression, suicide attempts/suicidal thoughts, mentions of rape, eating disorders, substance abuse, child abuse, domestic abuse, sexual references, personality disorders, intrusive thoughts, or obsessive behavior, then this isn't for you. (I know that's a long list, but it's a long project, and they're spread throughout the story.)
Do you like relatable characters? Do you like Project SEKAI? Do you like fandom? If you like any of those things (emphasis on the first one), then you might like SPECTRA LIGHT: Project NIJI! (If you're not interested, keep scrolling. If you are... carry on.)
This isn’t an ad to get your money. It’s an ad to get your support. Project NIJI is a nonprofit fanproject run by a bunch of… well, fans. It’s technically an Alternate Universe (AU) for Project SEKAI, but someone without knowledge of the game could still understand the story perfectly well, as the main cast is composed of 20 Original Characters (OCs).
Since this is a fanproject and doesn’t have to abide by copyright laws, ambitious collaborations or ideas can be accomplished more easily. This means that we don’t have to dance around more mature topics to hold onto that sweet, sweet 9+ rating.
There’s five musical groups:
Welcome TO Purgatory, a band dedicated to showing the world the truth, no matter how uncomfortable.
Sparkling☆Smile☆Stage, a group who wants the world around them to be a little less sad (even if they’re doing much worse).
LITERALLY HELL, who wants to show you that not every story has a happily ever after.
StarSuit Go!, an idol group who doesn’t believe in letting others change who you are.
Night blossomS, an online music group with questionable PR decisions who wants to reach someone.
That’s simplifying the groups a LOT, but it gets the general point across.
Now, I’ve spent most of this rambling about the project itself, but here’s why I’m making this post: We need people. Lots of them. In fact, we need:
Writers
Artists
Storyboarders
Beta readers
Music arrangers
Vocal tuners
Video editors/animators
Singers/voice actors (keep in mind that you might have to speak in another language a lot)
Translators
Color artists
Moderators (for our Discord server, and our subreddit if we get one)
Publicists (social media managers)
Chart makers (iykyk)
List of languages that we need translators for (we need people to translate these languages into English, or vice versa):
Japanese (we need the most translators for this language, as it's the primary language. Project NIJI is set in Japan, after all.)
Dutch
Swedish
Portuguese
Vietnamese
Chinese
Cantonese
Tagalog/Filipino
Russian
French
Arabic
Korean
Danish
Italian
German
Hindi
Spanish
There are other languages featured in the story, but they don't show up enough to warrant a translator.
If you can do any of those things (or maybe something else that could be helpful), then you can apply in this form. Please DO NOT DM THE ACCOUNTS IF YOU WISH TO BE A PART OF PROJECT NIJI.

The Challenges and Moments of Satisfaction of a 21 Weeks Pregnant: A Journey of a Second-Time Mother (A Narrative Report)
Carla: “Kung magkaka-anak man ako, sisiguraduhin kong magkasama kami sa hirap at ginahawa! Hindi ko siya ipagpapalit dahil lang sa pera.”
This dialogue is from the most dramatic Filipino film of all time “Anak” (2000) played by Vilma Santos as Josie and Claudine Barreto as Carla, It captures the responsibility, sacrifices, and parental commitment. Josie criticized Carla, saying that she won’t be able to take care of a child properly and that the child might suffer because of it, However, Carla replied, that she will never leave her child no matter how tough the obstacles and challenges she gets.
Just like the movie, it portrays a real story of a tough and emotional discussion about the struggles of being a parent and the responsibilities that she may face. No matter what really happens in her journey she will never leave her child for the sake of money.
This is the story of a woman who deals with harsh criticism about her ability to be a good mother, while she insists she will do her best to take care of her child despite any challenges in life. It reflects the struggles of being pregnant and worries about what the future might bring.
On September 02, 2024, Monday morning, at 10:30 a.m., a pregnant woman, with their guy waiting for them outside, was gathered at Talomo Health Center for their prenatal check-up. We were already there at 8:30 a.m., since when we went there last week, well you can actually know in the Infancy part, there is only one mother, with her newborn baby, remaining. So we make sure now that we need to go there as early as we can so that we can still meet, and interview a pregnant woman named Angelyn.
We were guided by the mother of  Mr. Fernandez because her mother is a Barangay Health Worker (BHW) at the said health center for the interview. We patiently waited there for a minute. After the mother sat in front of us, we already conducted the interview, but first, we introduced ourselves, prepared the questions, even informed consent, if it was okay for her to interview, and asked for her personal details. But before that, we make sure that the mother is comfortable in her seat. Since Mr. Ando can’t speak and even understand Bisaya, Mr. Fernandez tries to translate it to make the question understandable and to make the interview engaging.
Angelyn, a 20-year-old, 21 weeks pregnant, and a second-time mom, currently residing in Davao City, happily shares her stories. As a mother raising a child, she still wants to try for a baby boy the second time.
Carrying and taking care of a baby while still in the womb is not as easy as it seems. Physically, she gains weight (51 kg), which is normal as it supports the growing baby and prepares her body for childbirth. However, she feels anxious about what people, including her live-in partner, might say about her appearance. One of the most challenging physical changes she experiences also is stomach pain. Every time she lies down or sits, her stomach continues to hurt. To manage this, she uses effective oil on her tummy to help reduce the pain with its cooling effect.
In her cognitive studies, she said that she finds it hard to focus on tasks at work and around the house because of her continuous stomach pain. This pain makes it difficult for her to do things efficiently and affects her productivity. Despite her best efforts to manage, she frequently feels overwhelmed and frustrated. To cope with this she has started asking her husband for more help and is more demanding about his support with household chores. She feels that this help is necessary to balance her responsibilities and discomfort. Her struggles to stay focused and her increased need for support have become a significant part of her daily life
In terms of socioemotional, she mentioned that her relationships with family, friends, and her partner have changed significantly. They have become more caring and supportive throughout her pregnancy. Her husband, who had hoped for a boy, was especially happy when they learned the baby’s sex was indeed male. His happiness made him more willing to help with daily tasks. She also said that they support each other by checking if she’s okay, asking about her needs, and finding out what she wants to eat, which made her feel very supported. And also they assist her with tasks she struggles with, especially when her stomach pain is severe. For example, they help by serving her food and water, among other things. These actions have made her feel that she is well-supported.
When it comes to her challenges, one of the most difficult challenges she experiences is first sleep, she is always sleeping. Though it was in her progesterone hormones as a pregnant woman still she wanted to help and do her work as a mother since she has a baby too. But she is always sleeping. And also always dizzy, especially when she was exposed to radiation like cell phones or TV. And also whenever she stands up that is what makes her dizzy. Stress and anxiety in a pregnant woman are normal yet it shouldn't be normal since she is carrying a baby to reduce that issue she just wants to eat especially fruits that can help her to be healthy.
The most joyful experience she has had during her pregnancy is finding out that she is having a baby boy. Both she and her husband had really hoped for a boy, and learning that their baby’s sex is male has brought them happiness. They feel fulfilled and excited about this new journey. To celebrate, they throw the occasion with a party, just like a birthday celebration. They invited family and friends to join in the joy of learning about their baby boy and shared their happiness with loved ones.
Her story really reflects the ups and downs of her pregnancy, the challenges and happy moments. Through it all, she finds the strength and the support of her loved ones and the celebration of welcoming her baby boy into the world.

I rewatched The Night Manager and then checked out the first episode of the Hindi adaptation and who knew you could actually make it even grimmer?
That said, I really do hope that the second season keeps Olivia Coleman somehow. She was absolutely the very best thing in season 1 as far as I'm concerned. Considering the ending of the novel is absolutely nothing at all like the ending of the series, I am wondering if David Farr is going to come up with a new plot based on the fact that Jonathan Pine stole $300 million from an illegal arms sale, is still technically a criminal who stole from his employers, and killed a fictional drug dealer in Devon, and is probably going to be on the run for the rest of his natural life.
I do find it fascinating that they very very deliberately never address where Pine transferred the money to, after he realised he was on his own and had zero resources, and had to bash together his own plan to ensure Jed's freedom (I genuinely believe he did not care about his own life at that point).
There's something so wistful and sad about Jed not realising that he is absolutely 100% never going to visit her in America. That he is letting her go believing that it is possible, despite knowing that he has no passport, no new identity, and is a murderer who should never be around her or her child.
Although she always seemed a bit dim, she was smart enough to throw suspicion onto Corky despite being in the dark in a negligee in an army camp full of mercenaries with a man she now knows has paid for all her lovely dresses with blood money since before she even met him.
Considering the entire story began because of Pine copying Samira's list without her knowledge and giving it to his yachting buddy Russell Tovey and basically signing her death warrant, it wouldn't surprise me even a little bit if Angela gets a call out of the blue at her daughter's fourth birthday from an unknown number with yet another packet of intelligence that Pine has stumbled over.
He seems the type to decide if he's going to live with all that blood on his hands, he might as well keep on taking down the Richard Ropers of the world.

THE SIX YEARS I LOVED YOU THE MOST.
Tumblr media
summary : the six years robaire hidalgo loved you the most.
genre : 'wag na lagyan, para surprise💝
author's note : I DID THIS IN ONE SITTING I'M SO PROUD OF MYSELF OMG1!1!1!1 anyways, merry christmas everyone!! i hope you all are doing well right now this Christmas. enjoy this work i did, labyu ol💝💝 ( @intzue , @4townn )
one :: SEVENTH GRADE.
this was the first time hidalgo saw you. both of you were in the same class. he remembered how you stuttered so much, which was adorable to him. he didn't know, but there was something about you that made his heart beat fast.
he didn't assume it was love, no. he was too young for that thing. he wanted to be like his father, who courted his beloved mother when his father got a job. he didn't want to rush, as he thought that there is always time for love. and besides, he's still in junior high school.
he always denied his feelings. he denied how his palms got sweaty, he denied how he stuttered whenever he talks to you, and he denied how he tried to steal a glance from you.
this is definitely not love.
definitely not.
two :: GRADE EIGHT.
this time, both of you weren't classmates, but since both of you were close, you both managed to spend time in recess, and lunch.
and the cycle continued. he didn't assume it was love, no. he thought gifting you something for your birthday was normal with friends, and it was.
but why was he nervous when he gave you his gift? he didn't know either. maybe it was because the fear of you not liking it? but his heart warmed when he saw how happy and satisfied you were with his gift. ( which was a my melody plushie ). your expression was so genuine. it was almost impossible to fake it.
“ uy, haha. akala ko hindi mo magugustuhan 'yung regalo ko sa'yo, eh. ” he chuckles awkwardly, while scratching the back his nape.
“ baliw! favorite ko my melody, 'no! ” you said with confidence, while giggling softly, with the my melody plushie in your arms.
“ at saka, parang ang mahal nito. dapat hindi ka na nag-abala! baka kaya hindi ka na nakain sa recess dahil dito, ah! ” you said, a slight guilt in your heart was forming, as the thought of hidalgo wasting money just to by you a plushie.
“ ah— oo..pero worth it naman. nagustuhan mo, 'di ba? sapat na 'yung reaksyon mo. ang saya saya mo nga eh. ” he says with a genuine smile plastered on his face.
“ ililibre na lang kita— ” your words were cut off when he spoke.
“ hindi na, dapat ako gagawa n'yan, kasi birthday mo ngayon. ” he shakes his head in disapproval, but his expression was playful.
the feeling inside his heart grew day by day, but he kept denying it.
three :: NINTH GRADE.
his feelings grew. you can't even call it a crush anymore. he loved you. and he couldn't deny it any longer.
but fate decided to play with the both of you, you became the SSG President of your school, and your life became busier.
but he was there. and he was willing to help you with your president duties. he knows that being the SSG President of the school isn't easy, but he's there to make things easier for you.
“ bakit mo pa ako tinutulungan? it's not like i don't appreciate it, but i'm sure you have assignments? or an upcoming test? and, kaya ko naman 'to by myself. ” you said with a frown on your face. you didn't wanna burden him. you didn't want him to feel like he needed to help you.
“ hindi, 'bal. busy ako, oo. pero hindi sa'yo. kaya ko namang gawin 'yun mamaya. mas marami ka pang gagawin sa'kin, kung tutuosin. ” he says, with a genuine smile on his face.
“ i love helping you, you know that. 'bal. ”
“ nyenye, whatever you say. ” you said with a soft giggle.
four :: TENTH GRADE.
this is where he started courting you. despite both of you being busy with your own lives, both of you never forget to give each other time. both of you try to hang out by studying together.
“ akin na bag mo, surely, pagod ang disney princess ko. ” he says, before gently taking your bag from you. you rolled your eyes playfully after hearing his statement.
“ well, you're not wrong, pagod ako. ” you said with a playful pout on your face, and hidalgo went to pinch your cheeks gently.
“ favorite mo talaga pisilin pisngi ko, 'no? ” i raised a brow in a playful manner, earning a giggle from hidalgo.
“ totoo. your cheeks are so squishy, parang mochi. sarap i-pinch all day. ” he says while chuckling slightly.
“ kakasama mo 'yan kay jes, kaya ka nagiging conyo. hindi na ikaw ang robaire na kilala ko. ” you said in a playful tone.
he furrowed his brows and chuckled softly, “ lah, lord, ang oa naman ng disney princess ko. ”
“ mas oa pa rin classmate ko, ro. ”
five :: ELEVENTH GRADE
after a year of courting you, you finally accepted him as your boyfriend. despite all the girls that fawned over him, he chose none of them, but you.
it was always you. his eyes were always focused on you and only you.
every argument wouldn't last long, as he'd always set his pride aside, and always tried to fix any misunderstanding. he wouldn't let his temper get out of control, too.
a lot of girls would try to get his attention, seduce him, too. but none of those seduction worked, as you already seduced him. it's safe to say that you're the only one who can get him all acting lovesick.
“ baby, pahinging kiss. hindi ako makahinga, please. ” he whined, nuzzling his face on your neck.
“ ...kaka-kiss ko lang sa'yo kanina? ” you said, chuckling softly as you see the sight of him nuzzling his face on your neck.
“ not enough po 'yun, babyy. ” he whined like a child, but it just made him adorable, on your point of view.
“ 'di nanghihingi ng kiss mga astig, baby. ” you said with a playful tone.
“ ay talaga naman, 'pag talaga may girlfriend ka na maramot sa kiss oh. ”
“ eto na nga po, hahalikan ka na. ”
six :: TWELFTH GRADE.
“ ...ano.? magb-break na ba tayo? ro? ” you said, your heart breaking with every word you say.
“ 'wag, no, baby. ” he said, his voice trembling as he tried not to shed a tear.
“ cool off lang, baby. please. cool off lang po. ayoko ng break. ” he pleaded. as much as he tried not to cry, tears rolled down on his cheeks.
he sobbed on your shoulders, darn that misunderstanding. but even so, he still has hope for this relationship. he still have a hope that this relationship will turn back like it was.
“ masakit, baby. pagod na pagod na po ako. pero ayoko mag break. please. anything but that. ” he buried his face on your shoulder, his body slightly trembling.
“ kailangan lang natin nang time sa isa't-isa, hindi natin kailangan maghiwalay. hindi natin kailangan tapusin. ” every word he says was breaking his heart.
“ please? baby? walang tatapusin, walang maghiwalay. ”
in those six years that hidalgo loved you, never once his love faded, not even for a second. he's willing to fix any misunderstanding that comes in your way, even if it drains himself.

“Your mama is Doctor Daphne Huh?” Tobi asked as soon as they were in front of Daphne Huh’s office, a place he visited often whenever he drove his little sister Bianca whenever she got sick. He recognizes her as one of the softest people he’s ever met in his life, as whenever he and his brother brought Bianca to her, they made sure that Bianca wasn’t the only one getting checked. She always made sure Tobi and Leon were okay too. After all, they were technically kids too. Kahit na kasama naman nila noon ang mga yaya nila ay sila sila pa rin naman ang nagaalaga sa kanilang magkakapatid, just with the assistance of their nannies.
Jas nodded happily at him. “Di ba halata?”
“S’ya ang nagoopera kay Bianca when she was a baby,” he smiled at the memory fondly. He was very young back then and he didn’t know the concept of business and money, all he knew was that a complete stranger, some professional in this white prison, saved his baby sister. And that, forever, he will cherish.
Jas looked surprised at his sudden openness to share things about his family. It was something she never really got to do to the guys she got involved with before. After all, alam naman nilang lahat kung anong nangyari sa pamilya nila dati.
“I suppose hindi ko na kailangang ikwento ang buhay ko,” she chuckled, letting him in Daphne Huh’s office after she managed to open the locked door with her spare key that her mom gave her, knowing her full well that she’ll come here whenever she needs some comfort. “Ibinalandra rin naman sa balita ‘yung nangyari kay Lolo at Lola.”
“I know what happened to your grandparents,” he mumbled, finding himself sitting on one of the chairs at the office while Jas climbed up on the examination table, trying to get comfy on the mattress laid out on it. “With you, I don’t know so much.”
Jas turned her head towards him, looking at him, surprised once again that a guy was interested enough to ask about her.  She found it so rare nowadays that a guy would ask about her, most of them would just go straight to wanting to bring her to bed, which for more than she liked to admit, she agreed to.
“K’wento ka. Ano? Magtititigan lang tayo dito? Kanina ka pa tahimik sa sasakyan.” Tobi jokes, standing up to pull his chair closer to where Jas was lying down.
It made her heart race that he even managed to joke about it as if he really wanted to enjoy the moment that it’s just them two.
“Kung ayaw mong pagusapan ‘yung nangyari kanina, p’wede naman na magkwento ka nalang ng kahit na ano,” ani ni Tobi, looking at her directly. He doesn’t know what was different all of a sudden, why she suddenly looked…different. Palagi naman niyang nakikita si Jacynthe dahil magkaklase sila ni Kyle but he never saw her up this close before. She was actually prettier than he thought she already was.
“What do you want to know?”
“Anything, how are you and Doktora Huh?”
“Well, it’s just me and Mama Honey since the accident happened kela Lola,” she started. “I mean, it’s always been just us two. Dad was irresponsible and was rarely in the picture, so I don’t really consider him as someone I can rely on. It’s always been just me and Mama Honey against the world.”
“Why honey? I know Eli calls you honey rin–”
“Oh my god, is that hard to figure out? Huh — Honey.”
“Eh?” Tobi laughed at the realization. It was right under his nose and he’s never really realized that it was just that simple.
“Lola called mama ‘honey’ when she was still here and it just stuck I guess,” Jas smiled.
“Buti close kayo ano?” Tobi shrugged, realizing how busy Daphne Huh must be but still managed to make such a good relationship with her. Hindi naman ganoon sa kanila. He thought maybe it was rare that parents could manage having a good relationship with their children and making a living kasi kela Amir n’ya lang noon iyon nakikita and as for Santi, Eli and Cielo, it was the same as them. “Med field pa naman si Mama mo.”
“She used to bring me here noong nagiintern s’ya noong med school days,” she sighed at the memory.
Daphne Huh managed to make it out of med school and the rest of her pediatric surgery program on the hefty trust funds that she was given when both of her parents passed. Daphne and Jacynthe, who was no more than 3 years old back then, had to live off of it until she was able to work for them. Good for her, she had a best friend who will literally stand by her through thick and thin, which allowed her basically free babysitting by Belinda Valiente whenever Philo left Alistair with her mother. Jas basically grew up in the hospital with Alistair, Philomena Yoon’s son, also her ex-boyfriend by the way. They spent most of their time together in the pedia ward or following around Belinda Valiente, the President and CEO of Valiente Medical Hospital, in white little coats that the president had managed to be custom made for them. Halos tatlo na silang magulang niya noon, magmula noong mawala ang Lolo at Lola n’ya—Belinda Valiente, Philomena Yoon and her mama. And although there was still that sense of longing to have a complete family, like her classmates had from kindergarten, it was rarely ever thought of, because she knew she had more than enough love from those three women who raised her in the very halls that they just walked by a while ago.
So it was all new to her when at the age of 7, her dad decided out of nowhere that he wanted to be back in the picture. It was the first time in her life that she wanted to be something, she didn’t know exactly what, but at least something worth enough for her dad to stay and not abandon them again. But that will to be back in the picture was quite short lived, along with all the other chances that she and Daphne Huh gave Jadon Kang.
Her dad always left just when she was beginning to warm up to him again until they both had enough. Every time Jadon Kang would find another woman to be with instead of his own family, he left—always without hesitation. Daphne Huh had to draw the line because Jacynthe was growing up and it wasn’t the kind of family life that she wanted for Jas and so they cut him off. Every now and then they would be invited to family gatherings in Isabela, where Jadon Kang was originally from, but it wasn’t for more than at least twice a year. Otherwise, Jas refused contact with her paternal side of the family
“It’s a good thing na hindi ka napressure mag-medicine, ano?”
“Bata palang ako nagdodoktor-doktoran na ako,” tawa ni Jas, pointing at the little lab coat framed in her mom’s office. “Napagod na ako bago pa ako abutin ng college. Plus, Doktora Belinda made sure na hindi kami magmemed kung hindi namin gusto.”
Tobi could not help but feel jealous. His parents’ relationship has always been okay. They’ve been a complete family ever since, but it did not feel like that at all. Maybe that’s why he ended up sleeping around, to feel something else rather than feeling lonely. It did not change much though, the moment he finds himself lonely again and the excitement has already faded out, he leaves whoever girl settled for just sex with him.
It really is crazy how fucked up your parents can make you. But it’d be hard for them to admit it when they’re confronted about it. They’d start to believe that doing their “best” is a good enough reason as to why they managed to fuck up their kids’ mental health.

Language (s) in Moonbase Theta Out:
English as a language is taking over the world at an alarming rate, most other countries in which English is not the majority language have it as part of their school curriculum, and like math, you can fail the year if you do not pass the subject.
Why? Well, most of your job prospects will be severely impacted if you do not have at least a grasp of it. Though not as “present” as other consequences of USAmerican and England’s hold over the world, language imperialism is still something to worry about.
Like Minnie Degawan, activist of indigenous people’s rights says: “For Indigenous peoples, languages are not only symbols of identity and belonging to a group, but also vehicles for ethical values. They constitute the fabric of the knowledge systems through which these peoples form a whole with the land and are crucial for their survival. The future of their young people depends on them.”
Of course it is not only the English language that is guilty of the linguistic masacre, my own mother tongue: Spanish is equally if not more guilty. And, unlike how I would like to blame the Western Europeans for everything, Hindi, Mandarin Chinese and many more also play their part. Please notice how all of this is backed by Nation-States Agenda of “Linguistic-Ethnic Unity” like Mexico’s “not-white, not indigenous but (light-skin) mestiz@” project that asked for indigenous peoples to exchange their language (and culture) for social integration.
But what does this have to do with a small little podcast called Moon Base Theta Out?
Moonbase Theta Out is a sci-fi audio fiction podcast produced by Monkeyman Productions. It is 2098. The Moonbase program has been determined unprofitable. The last base, Theta, is twenty weeks from being decommissioned. Most of the crew is in stasis awaiting retrieval. Five remain – Roger Bragado-Fischer, Nessa Cheong, Ashwini Ray, Michell L’Anglois, and Wilder. (monkeymanproductions.com)
In Moonbase Theta Out, our current way of organizing the earth in nation-states has fallen out of fashion. Instead we got corporate enclaves run by mega corporations, and if it sounds terrifying it is because it is. There is a saying that goes “english is the language of money” and in a world where neoliberalism has taken over every character is expected to know english from Brazil to North Africa to France.  It is not uncommon for US american media to portray a world in which everyone knows english somehow, but in Moonbase Theta, Out it actually makes sense.
However, english is not the only language spoken in Moonbase Theta Out, within the constraints of the audio medium (in which subtitles are not possible, and the only way translations can be provided is through transcripts) the podcast manage to include portuguese, french, arabic (don’t ask me which dialect) and even some few words in spanish and bengali. The reason for this linguistic diversity? Because Moonbase, even amidst the cyberpunk hellscape, wants to show a future that is blooming with diversity and love.
In a small mini-episode showcasing the poems used in the show, writer D.J. Sylvis talks about how poetry is the connecting vehicle between our main-lead Roger Brigado-Fisher and his husband, Alexandre Brigado-Fisher (their relationship also works to tie the events that happen in the moon and earth). I want to extend this sentiment, and argue that language is the way in which several characters expressed their unique relationship.
Alexandre, for example, is Brazilian (go my latin boy!) and a native Portuguese speaker, Roger on the other hand is not but has learned the language, however when he takes a job for the Consortium he is asked to only speak english. His job causes a rift between him and his husband which ends up in a fight, when Alexandre slips into Portuguese, Roger tries to do the same but ends up forgetting the words; just another example of how their relationship is deteriorating because of the corporate overlords.
Then we have Michelle and his sister Maria, both French. They have had a very rough life that led them to security jobs for the Consortium and said jobs have led them apart.
Michelle tries to establish contact with her while knowing that everything he says would be listened to by his boss (and his enemy Roger). He slips into French when in distress, and the only one to calm them is another French speaker, her sister.
There’s also this very short moment in which Dr. Ashwini Ray has made a friend ze didn’t expect to make and can’t do anything about it because ze is going to the moon in just a few days with hopes of never came back, so ze says a few works in Bangla that ze knows hir friend, Jen Ponton, won’t be able to understand but that anyways, is a subtle way to express hir love for her.
Moonbase Theta Out is far from the only multilingual podcast out there (see: Desperado, MOONFACE, Hi Nay, Dos After You, Monster Dash and Celestial Blood) and I hope we continue to see more.
I also want to motivate you, reader, if you speak any other language, to write a story with it. The best way to help a tongue live is through the beauty of literature, afterall.

Diners are only really popular in the area I live in, so In understand--I’ve been close to a few of the places you’ve mentioned, but the closest would be disney. Disneyland is the one in California, and Disney World is the one in Florida. I’ve been to both, but I don’t live near either state at all. Here are some more questions! I see you are already interrogating my friend, though.. How cute!
If you could wish for any three things, what would you wish for? What’s a song that makes you feel nostalgic? What’s something that reminds you of your childhood?
I couldn’t stop myself… I think I’ve found their insta as well. I managed to find some other pictures of you too. You’re so pretty!
1) Three things? Money. Ability to know how people truly think of me. For my darlings to stay with me forever 💜
2) Its a Bollywood song but Sheila Ki Jawani probably! My mums first language is Hindi and the song is a classic in Indian households… My mum used to blast it in our kitchen 24/7 when I was younger.
3) Weird answer but blue paper towels… They’re a staple in British primary schools and I was in the nurses office more often than not…
I look forward to your answers, my dear!

Pag Friend mo ay scammer
so i kwento ko na bakit ako hindi nag post lately. and since lumabas naman na sa balita, i share ko na din to a bare minimum kasi lumalakad na yung kaso.
so ayun, na scam ako ng friend ko. yes, kaibigan ko to for so many years.
so this friend invited me to dinner party sa Solaire and i was surprised na me mga politicians at me mga artista doon at yung anak ng isang sikat an actress nandun din.  Turns out parang they are looking for investors for this  company they are to establish.
actually, hindi naman na discuss yung business plan that evening, short intro lang tapos they asked for our contact info and the part went on. in fair, bongga ang lootbag.
a week after, one of the managers called and invited me for a meeting sa head office nila sa BGC. ayaw ko na pumunta kasi alam ko marketing ploy to pero dahil good friend ko yung sa sa may-ari, pumunta ako.
again nakita ko ulet tyung anak ng sikat na actress na i found out na part pala ng corporation nila. so medyo convicned na ako na legit business to kasi yung family nya hindi lang sa showbiz, nasa politics din. malaki mawawala sa kanila.
in other words, that day nag invest ako sa kanila.
i was supposed to give this certain amount from my savings and add doon sa inheritance ko sa mom ko, pero as luck would have it, i decided to invest half and instead of what i previously intended.
i mean c’mon ang realistic at ang ganda ng proposal nila. hello, 7 to 8% returns?
at any rate, kahit half yung investment ko, malaki pa din sya. basta huge amount.
then the problem came...yung interest biglang natigil....walang kumakausap sa akin. pag tumawag ako sa office nila, walang sumasagot. yung friend ko, nawala na din....in other words, na budok ako mga lods.
at doon nag simula ang depression ko kasi hard earned money yun and what aggravates the burden is, walang kumakausap sa amin. well they did reached out thru a letter telling that because of the pandemic business has gone bad, etc etc. but it was not enough.
parang nagka breakdown ako kasi feeling ko magagalit ang dad ko at mga kuya ko sa akin for being too stupid to trust.
kaya ayan yung reason why I lost all zest in life.
alam ko pera lang yan at kikitain ko din pero dude, that’s part of my life savings since I was young. parang lumaban naman kayo ng patas diba?
so yun lang. eme

Age: 58 (season 1)

Synopsis
Heather was a suspect in the murder of Gray White. She was a drug queen who used to operate in Chicago until she was caught and arrested. She spent a few years in prison before her lawyers managed to get her out early on a technicality, and she proudly walked free. She moved to Grimsborough for a fresh start and to find new clients.
She knew Gray had returned to Grimsborough years prior, and Heather looked forward to… catching up on lost time with him. The two had a special business relationship, one that Heather enjoyed immensely. Gray was young, strong, and good-looking… It didn’t hurt that he was exceptional at following orders, either.
Approaching Gray with the offer to join her new business was simple; the man needed money for his daughter’s medication, and Heather offered him an easy way to get it. Plus, she was feeling generous and decided to pay him for… Extra services. The private kind.
Heather knows Gray was ashamed to sell his body for money, but he loved his daughter more than his pride. And the nights they spent together were filled with passionate lovemaking… Even after years apart, Gray still knew how to light Heather’s fire. She never wanted their private time to end… But then, two officers arrived to inform her that Gray was dead, burned so badly he was unrecognizable.
Of course, Heather’s love for handsome men couldn’t be stopped even when grieving for Gray. She was enchanted by the man who had come to interrogate her. The woman… Not so much. Sure, the female officer was beautiful, but Heather wasn’t attracted to women, so she was much more interested in her partner.
Though she might not have been if she had known Nathan had been calling her a bitch in Hindi…
Heather would be proven innocent of Gray’s murder, but that didn’t mean she wouldn't be going to prison for other reasons. After Adalet and Nathan made a search of her house and discovered drugs, Heather was arrested for possession and sent back to prison. She was furious at being locked up and forced to wear the hideous orange jumpsuits again, but she knows her lawyers will get her out early, just like before. It was only a matter of time…
(Spoiler alert, Heather will serve her entire sentence. Chief King ensured there was no way for her to get an early release after finding out about her inappropriate behaviour towards Nathan and disrespect of Adalet.)
