what happens when a food objects gets mould? is that something food object owners have to watch out for often?

yes, mold is a very common illness in food objects, though other object types can also sometimes be infected. it usually starts through superficial cuts or scrapes that are then infected before the object's immune system can properly contain it, though sometimes infections can just... happen, likely from breathing in spores. it can then spread from the object's surface into the deeper tissues of their body, starting with the initial infection site and progressing to the brain, slowly killing the infected object. this can take anywhere from a couple weeks to up to a year. afterwards, spores will be released from the carcass if left alone, and it's common for fruiting bodies to grow from them. this can even sometimes be observed in living objects and usually is a sign that death is near. infected carcasses must be removed by a trained professional to ensure no further infections can occur.

symptoms include fever, congestion, rattling in the lungs, coughing, sneezing, chronic pain, irritability, aggression, and loss of appetite. even if there's no visible signs of illness, in prolonged infections spores can be found in nearly all body tissue under microscopes. infections that start in the extremities, like the hands or feet of an object, will almost always require amputation to fully remove, and if found in the body of an object surgery to remove large infected portions of the body can be necessary as well.

mold infections are a leading cause of premature death in all food objects. antifungal treatment is very expensive, unfortunately, and most pet owners can't afford it. in the case your object is susceptible to mold i highly recommend being especially cautious of even small injuries.

OH NO I'VE JUST REALIZED SOMETHING. It's so obvious how did I just catch it.

So Lestat and Armand meet up earlier in Memnoch the Devil, and Armand is wearing all denim and is super dusty. Lestat sees him and lovingly thinks about wanting to clean him up, do his hair, etc. Armand responds 'yeah, you're always wanting that, back in Paris you wanted to perfume me and comb my hair and put me in velvet and embroidery'. WHEN LESTAT GETS BACK NEAR THE END OF THE BOOK ARMAND IS WAITING FOR HIM! Wearing velvet and embroidered lace! He has left his hair down and uncut like it was back all those years ago in Paris, only it's cleanly washed. (see here for excerpts)

He.... he gave himself the Lestat-likes-it-when-I-look-like-this makeover while Lestat was out.

n*loth not being able to bag anyone over the (human term) age of 25-30 at most is the only logical and real conclusion to me because it can be just explained away as him wanting to prove and control everything and anyone (Cus he's a man!) but being stuck in that demographic because his unbearable and vile personality is a force that nobody can look past once they've outgrown the possible fear and idolization period of anyone but also n*loth in particular.

to me (complete headcanon) huey and hal's relationship was a kind of primer/preview/etc. for hal and julie. huey strikes me as the type that, once he has his kid back, treats him as an all-purpose "automatically on my side/beholden to me" thing between a person he can rely on and vent to And someone he can blame for all kinds of mild to minor fuck-ups. I did that because you were being like that- why can't you be good all the time so I don't have to do that, why are you selfish? (hours later) oh hal I'm sorry, let's forget about all that, you're my best friend Idk what I'd do without you you're the only one who gets me- on and on.

very generic-brand normal Badparenting. huey probably mostly ignores hal's emotional needs/anything that makes him a Person Distinct From Huey. nothing is all that dramatic though and soon julie and emma are there so they both have other people to talk to. hal loves his dad. huey loves having his kid again. they're so regular ^_^
