Remember when fallout 76 got announced and the corniest people on earth got mad that the trailer used take me home country roads because it was released in the 70s instead of the 50s? As if like, government-enforced cultural stagnation would just mean no new art was made for over a hundred years?
#and like even with the 50s culture lock a folksy country song about natures beauty isn’t like. exactly more modern or advanced than#the kinds of music that are in fallout soundtracks. like New Vegas has lots of tracks that John Denver would be right at home next to#anyway you do not have to hand it to fo76 considering they did nothing interesting with the concept but. still a stupid criticism

So as someone who FULLY subscribes to the idea that a modern au Dutch would dress like it’s still the 70’s, I propose the idea that he’d listen to only 60s-80s music (what he calls the only good period of music.)
He’d listen to Prince, Christopher Cross (Arthur’s theme lol), Boston, Journey, Duran Duran, Johnny Cash, Bonnie Tyler, Queen, The Beatles, John Denver, TOTO, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Fleetwood Mac, Seals and Crofts, The Outfield, Men At Work, Blue Swede, Starship, Elton John (OBVIOUSLY), etc etc.
But MOST of all, Dutch would listen to ABBA. This man fully stans ABBA, he has ABBA merch, all the vinyls, he cried when Voyage came out, he probably even got to see them in concert at one point. You cannot take Mamma Mia from this man because my my just how much he missed him. His fav ABBA song would be King Kong Song because he loves to pull Hosea over to do silly little dances while he sings along, and Hosea just loves to see that big stupid smile.
And, I say this as a YRR fan, Dutch would go to Yacht Rock Revue shows and be on the rail with Hosea beside him (who probably has some earplugs in since it’s loud in front of Monkey Boy.) He loses his ever loving mind when they do the Africa/Dancing Queen mashup and he knows all of Nick’s little improvisations to the point that he does them in the car whenever a song comes on. (Also, anchorheads in joke, but he’d yell FUCKIN LOCKET- during Brandy. Gotta love live stream slip ups)
so here’s my Dutch playlist, please ignore how itll go from sad dutch song to angst to fall out boy to yacht rock to rdr soundtrack and back to fall out boy its my wall across campus and think abt dutch soundtrack
Thank you for coming to my TED talk, I have to walk to class now.

One song for A Radioactive Calamity Of Love, Bombs & Gore, The UnTitledverse and The Silver Chronicles each and two moodboards for a WIP in The UnTitledverse and The Silver Chronicles.
A Radioactive Calamity Of Love, Bombs & Gore is a Fallout fic series, and Fallout is mostly set in America, and what better to describe the best parts of America than John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads". While I know there's a Fallout version for this song sung by Spank, I'll save that one when analyzing its role in What Happened To Vault Number 76? As for now, John Denver's version encapsulates Ortega "Ore" Brantley and Marissa "Ress" Bishop's journey, as well as my Fallout protagonist OCs. Narrative-wise, this song describes both Ore and Ress' acknowledgement of their beginning roots (Appalachia and New Reno in New California respectively) and the comfort these homes bring, but also how they'll never lose sight of their true home, and how no matter their father, Arcane Urias, attempts to persuade them otherwise, they'll always trail their roads back home.
youtube
"Almost heaven, West Virginia Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River Life is old there, older than the trees Younger than the mountains, growing like a breeze
Country roads, take me home To the place I belong West Virginia, mountain momma Take me home, country roads."
What better fic from The Silver Chronicles is suited for Vance Joy's one-hit wonder than my Six of Crows fic How Good Is A Heist If It's Improvised? A song that acts like a relatable tune about pop culture but is a cleverly disguised bittersweet tale of love and longing mixing with the emotional turmoil of escapism from reality, and my fic which acts like a comedic modern-ish retelling of the Dreg's heist against one of Ketterdam's richest motherfuckers filled with action, drama and romance but is in fact very depressing in reality only made humorous (dark or light notwithstanding) through the perspective of the fic's only two unreliable narrators, my traumatised criminal OCs Isiah Popov and Gemini Teal. Anyway, enjoy!
youtube
"Here's this movie that I think you'll like This guy decides to quit his job and head to New York City This cowboy's running from himself And she's been living on the highest shelf
Ah ooh-ooh-ooh, ah oh And they come unstuck
Lady, running down to the riptide Taken away to the dark side I wanna be your left hand man I love you when you're singing that song And I got a lump in my throat 'Cause you're gonna sing the words wrong
I just wanna, I just wanna know If you're gonna, if you're gonna stay I just gotta, I just gotta know I can't have it, I can't have it any other way
I swear she's destined for the screen Closest thing to Michelle Pfeiffer that you've ever seen."
The Time Guard is an original work set before, around and within the canon events of The UnTitledverse. It follows Timekeeper, a droid who's purpose was to observe the Time stream and properly utilize the Time Watch only when absolutely necessary. Despite using it during dire circumstances in the events of the Jagged Instincts Novelisation, the Time Court, overseen by the Time Bureau Authority's supreme leader, Judge Khronos, and with the prosecution lead by Leviticus, declared Timekeeper had stepped out of line and also lost the Time Watch to a Time Vortex in the process. So Timekeeper is demoted as expendable and decides to found a team that will do Khronos' dirty (and often life-threatening) jobs to get in his good graces again, calling it the "Time Guard". A multitude of characters in the beginning of its foundation (and even after) come and go, though two have never been more linked than a Carmine scout drone designated "J.O.E" and Edward Carmine's most loyal security drone subordinate, designated "K.I.L.L.J.O.Y", not only coming from Jagged Instincts, but also after The Perfect Storm saga, and they're relationship during The Time Guard can be summed up as "cheerful naive optimist and brooding angry pessimist forced into a get-along brother shirt". So here's the closest song I believe emphasizes.
youtube
"Ah such a beautiful day, uh Yeah, the sun's shinin' in a beautiful way, uh Gonna take a shower, brush my teeth, and-" "Life is ultimately meaningless."
"Uh, uh, but I'll get out of the house. Get on the road, top down, hands out. Put on my favorite song and nod to the rhythm." "The planet's being destroyed by your carbon emissions."
"Oh! But I, I, I'll head to class Try my best on every test till I pass And my grades are screamin' in my face (Hey!)" "Ninety-eight percent of what you learn is a waste."
"I get to hang out with all my friends My friends are the friendliest friends Can't think of a better way to spend my time." "Your brain is flawed, and all your friends will die."
"Never mind, I'm alive in the greatest nation, so proud of-" "The exploitation of the natives?" "This graceful bird means freedom for all!" "Tell that to the slaves, and bald eagles aren't bald!"
"I can live in the moment, milk every second." "At any time, you could get clinical depression." "But I'll just be happy, no matter what's in store." "It's quite genetic, and we have no cure." "Uh, at least
We are young ("Not for long") Life is fun ("It only goes downhill") We gotta make the most of it, make the most it ("Or you'll regret it") We are young ("For now") Life is fun ("To some people") We gotta make the most of it, make the most of it!" ("Good luck")
And lastly two moodboards + an excerpt phrase/dialogue for WIPs from The UnTitledverse and The Silver Chronicles.
rules: show a moodboard and an important phrase or dialogue from the current fic you are writing!
WIP: The UnTitled Stories - Prologue
If I may... I'd like to ask you a question. One which has plagued me ever since I was introduced to it. What do you think dictates humans: The mind? Or the body? This was a query originally formed by French philosopher Rene Descartes in the 17th century; one that drove him to develop a concept called dualism. A concept that elaborated the distinction between the mind and body as separate entities, whereas the mind procured thought, mental processes and housed consciousness, the body focused on structure, our instincts, the neurons and the brain itself. Descartes had implied the mind could control the body, but the body could also influence the mind when it needed to, though ultimately had no control. However, despite Descartes' famous words, "I think, therefore I am", modern psychologists didn't believe it to be that simple. Humans worked like a machine, our organs merely cogs serving a function in the system. To take out even one has irreparable consequences, a disruption that could lead us to falter and break down and supposedly become useless, or our certain demise, which earns the same results of uselessness. Now, to deprive humans of one of these components leads to total system failure, regardless if its because of disuse or death. In other words, neither the mind nor the body can continue without this system. On that note, if this system is keeping the human body functioning, the question re-contextualizes from whether the mind controls the body, and vice versa, to instead what this system is trying to keep operating; itself, or our consciousness? The complexion of this debate can be hard to wrap your head around, especially if your introduction to it came from a source as dubious as mine had been, but this did not diminish my personal affinity towards it. To be clearer, I had been led to believe that if the system exists to function, then it must be to either support itself or the battery that drives it, not both. It's believed that by determining the dominating source that dictates humanity, a whole slew of concepts and functions will become clearer to understand, easier to deduce an explanation and an answer. To cease the uncertainty in our lives, which is the only thing that makes everyone equal in this meritocracy. By identifying the force that drives us, we can better understand ourselves, making arguments like free will and determinism, instincts and self-control, nature and nurture, our ability to change and adapt in socialization, perception of our identity and sense of individual self, among other things... well, clear cut. Or at least, that's what I had been told to believe. Not so much now. Though if anyone had asked me about my opinion on the matter back then, riding as a passenger on that bus, and if I felt inclined to share, I would have spouted my blind agreement to the belief. That never happened though. I had been lead to believe that to reach the conclusive answer to the dictating source of our actions; whether it was the mind or the body, I had to be placed in an academically social environment that would push my boundaries for the next three years. Determine the dominating victor of either consciousness or reflex, and take satisfaction in the answer to my curious nature. And though I would later discard this goal... the fact remained, it had been my original intention, one I had gone to such costly lengths for as demonstrated in our first year. And the fact remains that, while on that bus, on our way to this very school, I had every intention to follow that pursuit through til the very end. That is, of course, until I had met you…
WIP: Silva's Hope [Content Warning: Descriptive depiction of a violent death]
An ugly croak escaped from the Peggie's lips, his mouth agape like a lake trout. But instead of suffocating from a lack of air, he was choking from the dagger that pierced through his throat. Silva gripped the handle as she dug the blade further into the man's esophagus, blood seeping out of the opening. The red flowed down, staining his shirt and her gloves. The Peggie swung his arms out weakly, one hand managing to futilely claw at her wrist. She paid no mind to it. Is this all I am good for? She twisted the blade, gritting her teeth as she kicked the Peggie's knee down, swiftly sinking her knife down further. His grip went slack, and his eyes began to glaze. But she wasn't done yet, not with the burning fire eating through her veins. Is this all I'll ever be? Her free hand caught the man's blonde hair. She dug out the red-stained silver blade and slashed it across his throat, widening the cut. A source of fear? A beast with bloodied hands? She stabbed the blade against his head, pulling it out, then puncturing again, repeatedly, like a butcher chopping thawed meat. I gave you a chance, didn't I? A chance to turn back, to put the gun down, to turn a blind eye while I made my escape... Pulling the blade out, she tried to breathe, to calm the rage engulfing her heart, cascading over her mind. But it refused; it demanded it's release, to have her take it out on the man who's eyes have glazed. ...And yet, he did not choose to value his life, instead the words of his Profeta. Fraudulent lies that outweighed common sense, self-preservation, and moral understanding. Her teeth gritted, breathing rapidly, ignoring the bullet that inflamed the skin in her thigh. She raised her knife, red dripping down onto her head and shoulder. Looking down at the Peggie, she shouted out the wrath stuck in her voice, and broke through his skull. If this is the path they all will follow, then she won't waste time giving them chances they won't take.

Favorite bands: SO MANY and you guys see much of the more prolific ones lol
Hobbies: hiking, camping, writing, reading, gym, baking, playing old Pokemon games, making collages, coloring, Neopets, organizing things.
Four random facts about myself:
1. I've never broken a bone but I do sprain my right ankle almost every autumn. It gets very hard to see roots on hiking trails when the leaves begin to fall and I move very fast, which typically leads to me injuring myself in October lol.
2. Over the past few years, I've had 5 pet rats. Only one remains--her name is Clover and she's my half-bald little patchwork gremlin.
3. I collect animal bones and corpses to preserve, and have many different things on display in my apartment. Right now I have some fox bones, including the skull, that I cleaned and bleached getting some air and sun in my kitchen windowsill lmao.
4. I just had to have my first every surgery, which was getting my tonsils and adenoids removed. At 30 years old, it really is no joke. The recovery is already so much worse than I thought, and I predicted the worst!
I tag @jjwasneverhere @defkisshalen @jake-whatthefisgoingon-kiszka @mackalah @this-will-remain-untitled @writingcold @ramblinguitar @holdingup-fallingsky @pockcock @gracev0609 if y'all want 🌲

Music Recs (for writing)
I thought it would be fun to make a post of the type of music I listen to when I'm writing while also providing music recommendations cause i love finding new music myself. obviously I'll add more as I go along
I use music to help with feelings (like angst, love, fluff, etc) since I struggle conveying those naturally and I only really use apple music because spotify has always evaded me, so I'm literally just going to write each song and then link it on youtube 😭
also heads up, my music taste is EVERYWHERE so there is no rhyme or reason to any of this
Fluff/Happy Mix:
Fall On Me by R.E.M.
Fresh by Daft Punk
Keep Feeling Fascination by The Human League

Just Wait Til Next Year by John Maus
Sprawling Idiot Effigy by Nero's Day at Disneyland (I do not suggest you listen to this one unless experimental music is your thing cause I tend to listen to Nero's Day at Disneyland when I am too under-stimulated to write)

THIS DAY IN GAY HISTORY
based on: The White Crane Institute's 'Gay Wisdom', Gay Birthdays, Gay For Today, Famous GLBT, glbt-Gay Encylopedia, Today in Gay History, Wikipedia, and more … October 21
1891 – Ted Shawn (d.1972), originally Edwin Myers Shawn, was one of the first notable male pioneers of American modern dance. Along with creating Denishawn with former wife Ruth St Denis he was also responsible for the creation of the all-male company Ted Shawn and His Men Dancers. With his innovative ideas of masculine movement he was one of the most influential choreographers and dancers of his day. He was also the founder and creator of Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival in Massachusetts.
Ted Shawn was born in Kansas City, Missouri. Originally intending to become a minister of religion, he attended the University of Denver. There he caught diphtheria, which led him to take up dance in 1910 to regain his muscle strength. Shawn's dancing was discouraged by the University, which still had a Methodist affiliation, and was the reason for his expulsion the following year.
After marrying Ruth St Denis in 1914., she and Shawn opened the first Denishawn School in Los Angeles, California, where they were able to choreograph and stage many of their famous vaudeville pieces. The school and company went on to produce such influential dancers as Martha Graham, Doris Humphrey and Charles Weidman.
Although Denishawn came to an end in 1929 due to hard times both in Shawn's and St Denis' marriage as well as the economy, Shawn's second dance group Ted Shawn and His Men Dancers (1929-1940) were soon to follow in his dancing career. The new all-male company was based out of Massachusetts near his then home of Lee. In creating this company Shawn was hoping to make America become more aware, and accept the importance and dedication of the male dancer. It was with this new company that Shawn produced some of his most controversial and highly skilled choreography to date. With works such as Ponca Indian Dance, Sinhalse Devil Dance, Maori War Haka, Hopi Indian Eagle Dance, and Dyak Spear Dances he was able to showcase performances that all stressed male body movement.
His love for the relationships created by the men in his dances soon translated into love between him and one of his company members Barton Mumaw which lasted from 1931-1948. He had another partner following Mumaw, John Christian with whom he spent his life from 1949 until his death in 1972.
1917 – William Dale Jennings (d.2000) was an American LGBT rights activist, playwright and author.
Jennings was born in Amarillo, Texas. He and his sister Charlotte Elaine (two years older) grew up in Denver, Colorado where they were both schooled in music, Elaine playing the violin and Dale (as he was known, to distinguish himself from his father) the piano. The two made many appearances on local radio and at tent revival meetings. Dale showed an early love of dance, growing into a noted prodigy before the age of twelve. Later he joined the Lester Horton dance troupe as they traveled around the United States. In his late teens he moved to Los Angeles, with aspirations of becoming a writer and theater director, for which he had trained in Colorado. He eventually launched a theater company called the Theatre Caravan, located in a now demolished building near Olympic Blvd. and Alvarado, where he also lived. During this time he wrote and produced about 60 plays.
During World War II he was stationed at Guadalcanal. During his military service, he was awarded a WWII Victory Medal, an American Campaign medal, an Asiatic- Pacific campaign medal, and a Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star. After being honorably discharged in 1946, he returned to California where he studied cinema for two years at the University of Southern California. Before the war Jennings pursued relationships with women in the custom of the time, to avoid any suspicions about his true nature. He married once, an aspiring actress at Theatre Caravan; this lasted through the war, followed by divorce.
In November 1950, Jennings accompanied his friend Bob Hull, to a meeting with Harry Hay and Chuck Rowland to discuss a prospectus that had called on the "androgynies of the world" to unite. This meeting began the first official meeting of the International Bachelors Fraternal Order for Peace and Social Dignity, which would later be renamed as the Mattachine Society. The society sought to gain acceptance through greater communication between homosexuals and heterosexuals. The group began to grow and by the summer of that year they had adopted official missions and purposes which proclaimed homosexuals to be one of the largest minorities in America.
In the spring of 1952 Jennings was arrested for allegedly soliciting a police officer in a toilet in Westlake Park, now known as MacArthur Park. The Mattachine Society decided to help contest the charges brought against Jennings. They enlisted the help of attorney George Sibley, a member of the Citizens' Council to Outlaw Entrapment.
Jennings was one of the first homosexual men to contest charges such as this one. Most homosexuals at the time pled guilty so as not to be publicly scrutinized. His decision to fight back was a pivotal point in the movement. The organization raised funds and promoted Jennings' case nationally.
The trial began June 23, 1952 and lasted ten days. Jennings confessed to being a homosexual but denied any wrongdoing. The jury voted 11-1 for acquittal on the basis of police intimidation, harassment, and entrapment of homosexuals, and the case was dismissed. The trial brought a lot of attention to the Mattachine Society, increasing awareness of the Gay Rights Movement as a whole as well as increasing the organization's membership.
While Jennings was one of the founders of the Mattachine Society, his views on how to best fight for equal rights for homosexuals differed from the organization as a whole. Harry Hay believed that "gays were a unique and especially talented group who had been a primary part of tribal societies and needed to come together and reclaim those sacred and traditional roles". Jennings believed that there essentially was no difference between a gay man and a straight man. Jennings adopted a more private role, believing that homosexuals as a group had very little in common, and wanted to fight for the right to be left alone while Hay and the rest of the Mattachine Society collectively wanted to make homosexuality visible to the public and fought for more homosexual awareness.
In 1953, Jennings and others of like mind separated from the Mattachine and created ONE, Inc.. This organization became the dominant organization in Los Angeles and with the financial assistance of Jennings' sister Elaine and her husband James Porter its magazine became, for a period of time, the voice of the gay and lesbian movement. The magazine spoke out openly and more forcefully on behalf of the rights and interests of homosexuals.
After leaving ONE in 1955, Jennings wrote and published his first novel, The Ronin, followed by The Sinking of the Sarah Diamond. Another book, The Cowboys, based on a film treatment he sold to Warner Bros., caused considerable controversy among publishers due to its glimmers of homoeroticism. The Cowboys was made into a film in 1972, starring John Wayne. While not as successful as his first book, he made enough profit from the book that allowed him to buy a ranch outside of Los Angeles. Later he moved to northern California where he decided to re-involve himself in the movement. He contacted an old friend from ONE, Don Slater, who had also separated himself from ONE and founded a new organization, HIC (Homosexual Information Center) in 1965. Jennings was very passionate about his writings, and hoped that the HIC would accept and protect his scripts and books.
He continued to write until shortly before his death on May 11, 2000 at the age of 82.
1953 – Born: British former secretary of state for Trade and Industry Peter Mandelson, Baron Mandelson. Along with Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, he is regarded as one of the main players in the rebranding of the Labour Party as "New Labour". Mandelson served as Member of Parliament for Hartlepool for twelve years (from 1992), a seat he vacated in order to become a European Commissioner (2004-2008).
In October 1998, during his first period in the Cabinet, Mandelson was the center of media attention when Matthew Parris (openly Gay former MP and then Parliamentary sketch writer of The Times of London) mentioned during a live interview that "Peter Mandelson is certainly Gay".
In 2000, Peter Mandelson publicly recognized his long term relationship with his long-time partner, Reinaldo Avila da Silva by allowing photographs of them together. His memoir, The Third Man: Life at the Heart of New Labour, was published in July 2010.
In an interview, he said:
''I would hate to think that I take a stand because I have one sexuality, or one sexual orientation. I think it's important that people should be able to get to the top of politics - or whatever profession they aspire to travel to the top of - irrespective of what they are. I think I'm actually quite a good role model for people who, without any fuss or bother, without any self-consciousness or inverse or other discrimination, (are) able to make it in politics, to make it in public life, to make it to the top places in government of our country."
1968 – Trev Broudy is an American actor and former model born in California. Broudy came to national attention when he became the victim of a violent attack in 2002, which touched off a national discussion of hate crimes, drawing comparisons to the Matthew Shepard case.
On September 1, 2002, Broudy and boyfriend Edward Ulett were attacked after embracing outside Broudy's West Hollywood, California home by three assailants, Larry Walker, Torwin Sessions and Vincent Dotson. Broudy was beaten with a baseball bat and left in a coma for 10 days. In response the West Hollywood gay community organized a candlelight vigil.
Upon his regaining consciousness, Broudy's doctors determined that he had suffered permanent brain damage and was left legally blind. Part of his skull was replaced with a metal plate.
Walker, Sessions and Dotson were initially charged with attempted robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery. Republican Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley declined to press hate crime charges, a decision that sparked outrage in the community. West Hollywood City Councilmember Sal Guarriello and his political consultants immediately launched a recall campaign against Cooley to demonstrate their disgust for Cooley's homophobia. Cooley stated that he believed the motive to be robbery, not bias, a conclusion that Broudy disagreed with. After the preliminary hearing, an additional charge of aggravated mayhem was added for each defendant.
On August 27, 2003, Walker pleaded guilty to all charges and a day later Sessions and Dotson did the same. Walker was sentenced to 13 years in prison, Dotson received a seven-year sentence and Sessions was sentenced to 21 years.
Prior to the attack, Broudy was best known for a small role in the independent film The Fluffer. After the attack he narrated the 2003 VH1 special Totally Gay! in which he countered the generally light-hearted tone of the special by describing the attack and the devastating effects on his life. Broudy has appeared in a number of guest roles in a variety of television series and has started a career as a voice actor, performing in television and radio commercials and playing Cole Yeager in Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent and Captain America in Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

His character is also the uncle of William Adama. On April 28, 2009, his role was expanded to series regular. He stated in an interview that it was later revealed to him that his character would in fact be gay, something he felt was an opportunity to explore the dynamic relationship of a gay character in a science fiction setting, as well as to explore the issue of homosexuality on a social level.
When asked whether he is gay, his stock response is not a denial, but "no comment" and he adds,
I'm very involved as much as I can be with any sort of causes in the gay community and I'm very supportive and I'll continue to be so. So far, no word of my character [ in "Grimm"] being gay but in my personal life I will continue to be a supporter.

Ganja White Night and Tape B presents: Ganja Tape
It's electronic with drum & bass, and some EDM
Label: SubCarbon Records
Growing up in the small town of Mons, Belgium, the duo was in a way sheltered from the music industry of the United States, allowing them to create a unique sound of their own. With their musical roots ranging from early UK bass and reggae vibes, Ganja White Night has twisted together their influences and spit out something truly fresh and their own. After a decade-plus deep discography, Ganja White Night struck a chord with their 2016 Mr. Wobble LP release, cementing their iconic Wobble sound. Centered around the idea of creating their own mini animated universe, the duo teamed up with Ebo, a famous Belgian street artist, to bring their vision alive. With the debut of Wobble Master & LFO Requiem full animated music videos in 2016, the story of Mr. Wobble was born.
Subsequent albums – which continued to tell Mr. Wobble's adventurous tale through Ganja White Night's iconic Wobble sound – included The Origins, The One, Dark Wobble, and their most recent album, Unity. Their significant collaborations to date include bass-music powerhouses like Zeds Dead, Subtronics, Slander, Liquid Stranger, and long-time collaborator Boogie T. Drawing similarities to the visual aspect of the Gorillaz and their unique style of telling a story through their music, the duo plans to continue exploring their own universe.
Tape B, born Kemal Berk Alkanat, is a dynamic force in today's electronic music scene, merging the nostalgic vibes of old-school dubstep with contemporary bass music and hip-hop. Born in Turkey and raised in the US from the age of three, Tape B brings a distinctive sound that captivates with a blend of nostalgia and modernity, termed "Old School x New School." His musical journey began at the University of Central Florida, influenced by early 2000s hip-hop and electronic pioneers like UKF and The Glitch Mob. His career took a professional turn after a revelatory experience at the Lost Lands Music Festival in 2019. Tape B's rise to prominence was fueled by viral SoundCloud mixes and dynamic live performances, including his iconic "Yo, Tape B" tag, which has become a recognizable call throughout modern clubland and festivals. Achieving significant traction with remixes and original tracks, including the standout "Trippy Land" with Mersiv and Juicy J, Tape B has redefined expectations within bass music. As of 2024, Tape B achieved sellouts of every headline since December 2023, including rapid ticket sales at Denver's Mission Ballroom and New York's Great Hall.
instagram
His introduction of Tape B Block Parties in 2024, as recently showcased across Texas with two sold-out events, has brought classic and modern dubstep brilliance to the forefront, further cementing his influence in the scene. In August 2024, Tape B released a genre-blending collaboration with superstar producers John Summit and Subtronics. Tape B remains a vibrant and influential figure in electronic music. His commitment to innovation, community, and joy through music continues to drive his rapidly ascending career.

would love your country music recs!! been trying to get into the genre but haven’t really listened to a whole bunch and would love some suggestions <33
YAY thnk u for reaching out. um most of these artists i havent trawled their entire discog but each has some things i really really love. many of them explore serious topics such as addiction, discrimination (racism, homophobia, sexism, classism, etc), and more (like a lot of less commercialized and more traditional country music does).
its important to note that there is a lot of crossover in country, soul, blues, americana, and folk, so some artists might be more leaning to one of the other genres but their relation to the country style compels me to include them.
i will also say that afaik these are mostly modern artists because nothing makes me fucking angrier than people saying that new country music isnt good. please pull yourself out of the country billboard top 100 for the love of god.
ok here it is: > yola (one of my faves, lots of crossover with soul in her style) > brandi carlile, maren morris, natalie hemby, and amanda shires are all good individually and are part of a collective called the highwomen (theyve collaborated with yola several times!) > robert finley (i could cry with how much i love his work, sharecropper's son 2021 is just fucking. perfect) > john fullbright > rhiannon giddens > gillian welch > shakey graves > charley crockett (his work all feels so fresh and unique to me, i never get sick of it) > courtney marie andrews > brown bird (one half of this duo has passed on so they havent made any new music since then, but i still suggest checking them out) > mary gauthier (drag queens in limousines is a total classic) > the war and treaty > sturgill simpson > allison russell > paul cauthen (he's collabed with orville peck, who im sure a lot of people here know! if not i rec him too ofc) > emily nenni > john r miller > lucette (shes had work produced by sturgill simpson iirc) > the secret sisters (very dear to me) > katie pruitt > shovels & rope (<3) > parker millsap > margo price ( i love her i love her i love her i love her what can i say. thats how rumors get started 2020 changed my life) > kaia kater > robert ellis (less familiar w him but i like what ive heard) > jaime wyatt > arlo mckinley (another artist i havent checked out extensively but ive heard good songs from him and like his voice) > the chicks (forever and ever <333333333) > amythyst kiah > mercy bell > justin townes earle (who has unfortunately passed away in recent years, i think 2020) > waylon payne > the devil makes three > evil > jason isbell and the 400 unit
i also dont want you to think i dont want people to listen to classics, i do. i love classic country music — if you havent checked them out, id especially recommend john denver, charley pride, dolly parton, willie nelson, hank williams, johnny cash, the carter family, glen campbell, kitty wells, robert johnson (hes blues, but hes mississipean blues and has influenced country music through and through), patsy cline, judy collins, waylon jennings, and marty robbins.
this isnt comprehensive but its what comes to mind right now. i hope it was helpful!!! <3

Today I learned that John Denver was excluded from "We Are the World" (a famous 80's charity tune featuring a who's who of the American music industry heavy hitters) because, in the words of the modern tongue, he didn't fit the vibe. He asked. They refused.
Y'all. The song has Willie Nelson. Did John Denver need to smoke pot or something to have been considered cool enough for the charity club? Jerks.
#Tegan Talks#We Are the World was Imagine but less cringe#John Denver#John Denver was robbed#I'm bummed on his behalf#It was still cringe#It's less cringe than Imagine which is more cringe than Do They Know It's Christmas#There's a cringe scale

okay under the read more is the rough draft of the first page of my novel. Blease let me know if this is licherally anything luv
Chapter 1:
In which Anya Antov is taken home, country roads1
Anya was well aware that most people did not regard cryptid hunting as a serious endeavor. Anya was even more aware that the few people that did regard cryptid hunting as a serious endeavor had an unfortunately large overlap with people that tended to believe that “ancient aliens” were involved in the creation of the pyramids and/or that amethyst can cure your Gout. When she had her druthers, she would largely avoid those people.
The sweet spot, in her humble opinion, were people that were like her, simultaneous enthusiasts and non-believers. She loved the “ghost hunters” that found and fixed gas leaks all while hoping that maybe this time it really is a poltergeist. She loved the “tarot readers” that were in it to get people talking about their issues rather than take advantage of (false) spirituality for people’s cash2. Most of all she loved people who, like herself, didn’t think Bigfoot was any more than a guy in a suit but thought it would be sick as HELL if they3 were more than a guy in a suit.
This was...not that easy to explain, especially when it took up so much of her time and cold hard cash4.
So she didn’t!
When asked about her job, she told the truth and said remote boring IT job.
When asked about her hobby, she said ‘extreme birdwatching5’. She did not elaborate on what made it extreme.
When asked why she wanted to interview locals (usually by said locals), she said she was doing a thesis on modern folklore across North America, specifically ones that were not considered tied to a specific culture. This was almost true. She was not doing a thesis as much as making posts on a ten year old wordpress account for all ten people that regularly followed her exploits. She neither had an anthropology degree nor could afford to pursue one.
The modern folklore thing was legitimate though.
That was her dirty secret. The term “cryptid hunter”, though succinct and, hmm, evocative6,felt wildly inaccurate. For one, she wasn’t hunting shit. She has no intentions to harm, capture, eat the meat of, or mount a trophy of any cryptid if she did, somehow, run into one. Her neck was not incredibly thick like Gaston.
1Anya, much like John Denver, neither lives in nor is from West Virginia
2And for cool themed art. Tarot really went Off with the potential for themed art.
3Bigfoot is almost always referred to as “he” even though in the famous footage he clearly had large mammaries (Big-foot? More like...Bi-ddies). Bigfoot is one of the most famous transmascs of all time.
4Her ass is not carrying cash. The last time she carried enough cash to pay for anything more than a slightly fancy drink was when she was a sixteen and working at an amusement park. By some miracle, she was never robbed after getting handed a weekly envelope with $400 semi-legal tender in it. Don’t work at an amusement park. Especially one that has a 30% of being a money laundering scheme. Actually, scratch that, if it was a money laundering scheme it likely would’ve had better management. She would rather work for the mob than Barbara any day.
5And really, what WAS searching for the Jersey Devil if not extreme birdwatching.
6Not in the ways she wanted, but evocative nonetheless.

HELLO I JUST READ DEATH AND OTHER LIES WHILE I WORK AND FRANKLY FORGOT ABOUT WORK AT ALL IM SO SO OBSESSED ITS BECOME MY NEW FAVOURITE FIC OF ALL TIMR i wanted to ask about the reference in chapter 2, was it a reference to merlin the tv show or a different merlin? THANKS FOR ANSWERING IM IN LOVE WITH YOUR WRITIGN
tysm ahhhhhhh!!!!
The reference to Merlin in ch.2 is actually in relation to arguably one of my favourite modern movies of all time, Kingsman: the Golden Circle (2017). That whole section is from an iconic scene from the movie where the character Merlin sings John Denver's Country Roads, Take Me Home as a diversion, and given I'd already referenced other moments from the Kingsman trilogy (like the whole bit w/ them not trusting drugs/poisons because Rasputin survived them) I figured it would be funny!
It's also not the only fucky pop culture reference I make in the fic either lol. I know at least one person's already caught the fact that I shamelessly ripped the entire introduction of the fic from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, but a lot of the little details are references as well. Oscar's car is a Ford Fiesta because when I was a kid my brother was obsessed with Jeremy Clarkson's 1995 movie Motorsport Mayhen (partially the reason I'm into F1 at all!) and he talked about that breed of car. The name of the enemy organisation - the Ecliptic - is because I had no clue what to name them but I was playing Starfield at the time, and there's a group with the same name in the game. Lando's fun fact that he used to be able to name all the stars is in part a reference to a monologue in season 2 of Good Omens, and in part a reference to one of my other fics, a Stranger Things one I wrote years ago where Steve Harrington has effectively the exact same little speech. The entire alternate history of the world which serves as a backdrop for the fic is a mashup of what little I remember from the WWII unit of my high school Modern History class, and the Harold Saxon/Master arc of Doctor Who.
My favourite part about writing fic is that it is, by design, unoriginal. It's not an exercise in uniqueness, which means I'm allowed to stuff in as many references to other shit as I need!
#today i speak tomorrow i will also speak#asks#oopsie I forgot that there was an ask function of tumblr so sorry to y'all who sent me asks before this#also on the alternative history of the world thing - it's gonna come into play a lot more in the SEQUEL TO DEATH AND OTHER LIES WOOHOO#that is if I ever finish the next chapter of event horizon#which I will I promise. At some point.#fin's fics

Do you like folk music?
It depends on what type of folk music and whether I'm in the mood for it. Usually I think to myself "I don't like folk music," cause I often imagine like, modern indie music where someone plays an acoustic guitar and sings a certain way. But like, I know the sound of folk music ranges from what decade it was made in, to also country of origin. Usually I don't listen to folk albums, but I enjoyed Fine Anyway by Roger Fakhr. But the country of origin for that album is Lebanon, it's a late 70s album, and it also mixes jazz with some songs. So I don't know, maybe it's circumstantial. Also I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to a John Denver album, but whenever I've heard his music I liked that it reminded me of the animated Hobbit soundtrack lol. But again I think I'd have to be in the mood for that. Anyways, thank you for asking me about music, I always like talking about music, if you have folk music to recommend me I'd still appreciate it, even if the album/song doesn't turn out to be for me.
