Okay, I admit there's a bit of a pet peeve I have with "bleeding effect" Assassin's Creed AUs where the ancestors meet Desmond. I can't forget those people have already lived their lives. Like, it's all set in stone. You're just seeing their memories. How their lives already went.

Ezio and Altaïr managed to interact with Desmond across time because of the Apple and other keys of Eden, but that's also gonna be in their memories. Desmond could access his ancestors seeing himself through the Animus.

So when I write Desmond talking to his ancestors because of bleeding effect, I also make him fully aware he's not talking to the real them, but with a hallucination of them, a copy of a copy in his head. Memories of memories. His brain speculating from what he got out of meeting them.

It's sad to think about, but the ancestor in his head isn't the real one. And I think knowing that would hurt, too. Specially for Desmond, who has kind of a shitty family (definitely a shitty father) and he's feeling more connected as a family to the idea of his ancestors than with them.

It makes the fleeting moments he actually managed to reach across time all the more important to him.

Miles: -completely unnecessary. Doing a Steel Samurai reboot so soon after the series ended is a foolish decision, everyone will be directly comparing the two from the moment the first episode drops. I don't believe they even have a fresh direction for the show, the only difference will be the cgi. God forbid we rock the boat and follow a new character! It's abundantly clear to me that the studio executives are cowards.

Alastor misinterpreting modern LGBTQIA+ labels also leaves room for so much confusion with the rest of the cast:

-Genuinely thinks Husk is attracted to kitchenware, to the point where one of his “punishments” is not being allowed in the kitchen

-If Huskerdust then Alastor begins to question if Angel is secretly a pan

-Knows Angel isn’t a pan so Alastor tells him there is no chance if Huskerdust happening (talked about here)

-Angel saying he’s gay and Alastor questioning that because he was sure Angel was depressed

-Reevaluating the bisexual label AGAIN when he finds out Pentious has two dicks, causing him to question his previous statement of Vox being dickless

-Vaggie: Im Lesbian, Alastor: I don’t believe I’m familiar with that country

-Alastor thinking all angels and/or exorcists are lesbians (yes, this includes Adam and Lucifer)

-Him thinking of Charlie as half-lesbian, not because he’s biphobic but because she’s half angel

-Lucifer mentioning he’s kind of gender-fluid so he wonders if the fluid of Lucifer is what’s responsible for one’s gender

-Thinking trans means transportation/transit/transcontinental railroad and assumes they’re the best people to travel with

-Him thinking “bisexual” refers to having two partners

-Him thinking “bisexual” refers to being attracted to bicycles so he removes all bicycles (and pans because fuck you Husker) from the hotel

-Him thinking the term “ace” refers to a phenomenal card player because he beat Husk in poker, taunts Husk for not being “ace” anymore (Alastor stole Husk’s aceness)

Honestly, the game itself didn't make it seem like Desmond was wasting his life. That was his father's opinion.

And we know how much that's worth.

y'know something that annoys me about assassins creed?

they always make it seem like desmond wasted his life away after he left the farm to become a bartender, that he wasn't fit to be an assassin until he was training in the animus, and that he didn't have any ambition (as said by William in the AC3 remastered opening)

but like. none of that is true. at all

I mean I was just looking at the wiki to see Desmonds accomplishments and bio and apparently it was Daniel Cross that brought him into Abstergo. which. kinda puts Desmond skills in perspective

Daniel Cross was considered the most successful Templar member and, before Desmond, had a really great track record with his missions. Save for the ones that involved PoEs

they had to send him in to get Desmond

also Desmond managed to stay hidden from the assassins AND templars for 9 going on 10 years, since he was kidnapped on like August 30 brought in for the animus September 1, and the only reason he got taken in was due to them getting his fingerprints from the DMV

like. That sounds stupid but think about it. If he was going to the DMV he had to have an entire false identity in order to use a license, bc you need proof of birth, SSN, and multiple legal documents

he just. had that made on the run. Like that actually takes skill or connections or both to be able to effectively be in the system without being found with fake legal papers

And he DID have ambition: he wanted to live normally. Yeah its not some big dream or anything but he managed to stay hidden from two secret shadowy organizations that is all over the world in order to make it happen. that's determination and he only got caught due to his fingerprints being matched

and he easily fights off the abstergo agents in the opening of the first game. I'm not saying that Desmond was near as good as Ezio or Altaïr or Connor at this point, but he can clearly defend himself very well. at the end of AC2 he has no qualms with killing, he just does so with the hidden blade.

look, all I'm saying is, at the very least Desmond had to he quite skilled even before he started using the animus

Jesus fucking christ William

William is a character with motivations we can understand: as the leader of the Assassins, he never had a lot of time for his family, because he had to manage the entire Order.

And if the prophecy about Desmond really was around since the time of the First Civilization, with people like Altaïr and Ezio being aware of it, William might have suspected his son was some kind of chosen one. Who would some day save the world, or destroy it, and who knows if he'd come out the other side for it.

So he had to raise his son knowing someday he might lose him. And he had to raise his son to bear an immense responsibility. So, in the end, William was faced with choices he had to make.

And he made all the wrong ones.

He could've told Desmond about the prophecy, or about the Assassin Order, for that matter. He could've been there for him as he grew, become a source of trust rather than fear, he could have allowed him some shred of a normal, happy life in the little time Desmond had. He could have not physically and emotionally abused his son.

William made all the wrong choices. If Desmond still chose to save the world, it was despite William, not because of him, which means William failed in all of his motivations for raising him like that.

William is a piece of shit abusive bad parent.

okay alastor's response of learning about the term "asexual" by responding with "a sexual? I'd say I'm the furthest thing from it" IS very funny but have we considered that he HAS heard the word before but not in the modern way. he's only heard of it used in the context of asexual reproduction. or asexual plants. he does not believe either applies to him.
