idk it sounds reasonable to me for a teenager to run away bc they didn't want to eat their veggies!
one hopes that by the later stages of childhood a parent will have figured out which veggies and preparation styles work for the kid, and the kid will have resigned themself to what they do and don't have to eat according to their parents, and it's all settled into an equilibrium instead of a daily fight. and hopefully as a teen your palette is expanding and you're even willing to eat more veggies then you did as a child.
however, if the kid is extra picky and stubborn, and the parent is extra determined to make sure they eat a good variety (or just eat whatever the parent prepared no matter what it is), it could absolutely continue to be a regularly-repeated fight. and if something is a continued point of contention throughout childhood then it absolutely makes sense for a teen to go FUCK this, i am nearly an ADULT i am done being told to eat my veggies i am gonna prove my independence and make them realize i don't have to just sit there and let them boss me around!!
like, the childishness of the fight is exactly why a teen would run away about it.
#i'm so picky and only got pickier throughout my teen years#i usually just made myself a separate quick meal when i didn't like dinner#if my parents hadn't let me and had tried to insist i eat the same thing as everyone else?#well. idk what i woulda done bc that would require they have an entirely different parenting style overall.#so who knows what kind of person i would be lol#but leaving the house for a couple hours seems pretty reasonable to me#but it's also normal for a parent to have an 'everyone sits at the table and eats what i've prepared' rule#for a variety of reasons ranging from well-meaning to self-centered#and i'm sure there are parents who will even try to foist the same old veggie rules upon adult children visiting for the holiday#i think 'what's the latest age at which a veggie fight might occur' says more about the parents than the kid#since they're the one turning it into a fight instead of letting it go#so ig if you want them to be closer to model parents then sif would have to be pretty young#but i think 'the type of parent to never stop arguing about veggies' is an interesting flaw to add#to make a parent who is loving and wonderful overall but has their own blind spots and mixed up priorities#isat spoilers#isat#siffrin#I UNDERSTAND WHY people think sif must be young and i'm fine w that#this is just my perspective :)#thoughts about siffrin#thoughts

So...I found this picture online and it took me down the craziest Transformers rabbit hole that I now need to share with y'all. This isn't Jazz this is Kawasaki Prime who was modeled after Jazz. He's from an event called Cybertron Satellite which involved giving towns and cities throughout Japan a "Town Commander": Autobots assigned to defend that town/city. Kawasaki Prime was assigned to protect the city of Kawasaki, known as the "City of Music". Additionally, he was given the ability to control water with his "Bridge Spear". This is likely due to Kawasaki's closeness to the Tama River.
#I was caught off guard by his absolutely SNATCHED waist#like baby where are your organs#also the town commanders were modeled after a wide variety of characters#like there is one modelled after prime cliffjumper#and one modeled after Bay Sideswipe#transformers#maccadam#tf jazz#Cybertron Satellite

There are three main models of disability that are in common use. The moral model, the medical model, and the social model.
You may not have heard of the moral model before, but if you are disabled, you have felt the impact of it. The moral model is disability as a failure of character. It sources the problem of disability in the character of the disabled person. It's the people who insist that if you just tried harder, were better, had a better attitude, that you would no longer be disabled. It is a model that is used by ableists in order to conceptualize of disability as a failing of the individual. An extreme example of this mindset are the Christian Scientists, who believe that all illnesses and disabilities should be healed by the grace of their god and that if you are not healed, something is wrong with you. It is the the most cruel of the models, and the least successful at assisting disabled people.
The medical model is the model used by the medical establishment and by those who put their stock in medical authority. It sources the problem of disability in the body. It measures disability against a theoretical average person, and seeks to make disabled people match that average person more closely. This model works very well for disabled people with disabilities that can be measured, have a potential treatment plan, and want their disability gone. It does not work very well for people who do not match all three criteria. If they match the first and second but not the third, then strict adherents of the medical model often fall back on the moral model, stating that they are stupid, lazy, or selfish for not being interested in being cured. This also often happens if treatment fails to improve the condition of the disabled person.
The social model is a newer model, largely designed by disability activists and scholars and often defined in opposition to the medical model. It sources the problem of disability in the interaction between the disabled person and their physical and social environment. It argues that the solution of disability is to change the environment so that impairments are no longer an issue. This model works very well for disabled people who consider their disability not to be an issue when fully accommodated. It does not work well for people who consider their disability an inherent impairment and/or desire a cure. Strict adherents of the social model often fall back on the moral model when considering these people, stating that they are short-sighted or that they worship the medical model. These are the people who state things such as that depression would not exist in a world without capitalism.
When a disabled person fails to behave as expected by the model a person has of disability, the moral model is almost always the fallback position, because many people cannot conceive of why someone would disagree with them other than a lack of good character. This is a problem, because the moral model proposes no solution but to ignore or abuse the disabled person until they behave as expected.
Another notable interaction is that adherents of the medical model can often be persuaded to support the more traditional parts of the social model, such as providing large text resources to people with impaired vision, so long as there is empirical research backing it. However, they rarely support more radical arguments that challenge how we define disability and how society should be structured or restructured.
All three models have major failure points. The moral model fails every disabled person it is applied to. The medical and social models both fail different disabled people when adhered to strictly. The best approach at the moment seems to be hybridizing the social and medical models, so that they cover each other's weak points and fit the needs of the widest spectrum of disabled people. The main barrier to this is that they are often defined in opposition to each other.
#I personally adhere to a hybridized model of the medical and social models that I informally call the independence model#If an individual is disabled or not is their personal call#as is what they do about it.#it does need to be acknowledged who is considered disabled by our society and how that will affect someone#even if they do not consider themselves disabled#Medical care and accommodations should be available to whoever wants it#but should never be forced or pressed on anyone#Public spaces and events should be accessible to as wide a variety of people as possible#The main failure point of the independence model is that it does not call for a single clear solution#and basing a model around personal choice makes it difficult to make policy proposals

I feel like I’d get the anne hate train better if people hated her for the right reasons and didn’t sideline the actual genius of her work in the process. also who gives a fuck if she was living vicariously through her characters. male writers do that all the time too.
#it’s like people want freaky female writers until they actually get one#she was racist and played victim a lot when she was still alive but her writing is like. genuinely good. it’s very thoughtful and#carefully planned out. she makes a variety of commentary that somehow never seems to register to people reading her books.#iwtv#text#the belief that bad people can’t make good art is such a juvenile misconception. don’t subscribe to that…#this post is about the vampire armand by anne rice. which is a largely good book and continues to model its depiction of abuse off of iwtv’s#patterns of depicting abuse.

having thoughts about Isabeau’s fashion career, and how his artistic style would evolve over time. that it may be almost surface level at the start, as he’s still clinging to his gullible persona and perhaps not letting himself fully indulge in what interests him as a person for the sake of his appearance. the clothes he makes are only ever lightly experimental: with anything too “abstract” or overly personal being restricted to forbidden concepts in his sketchbook. he sticks to the book, stays true to teachings and the clothes he’s used to learning “sell the best”. and it does sell, both due to his reputation as “a savior of vauguarde”, but also because the clothes he first designs are safe and predictable. they’re something you can wear and say “I feel warm in this”, that “I could wear this every day”. Something that you can fall back on.
and then, as both his skills & his confidence in himself as an individual evolves, the clothing changes as well. he deviates from his usual reputation of softer and sturdier materials, and begins experimenting with strange patterns and very unconventional pieces. the safe clothes still exist of course, but even those take a life of their own, morphing into garments that aren’t so hardy or overly reliable. by this point, the things he makes are made because he wanted to get the idea out of his mind, and not worry about if it’s palatable for buyers. his ideas and feelings and genuine mindset shown unapologetically, slowly but surely making designs that please himself, rather than exist to sooth others.
#im sooooo normal about him#isat#in stars and time#isat isabeau#isat spoilers#in stars and time spoilers#<- just in case !!#isabeau at first trapping himself in the confines of ‘good work’ that many creatives put themselves in#and eventually overcoming these obstacles- thus finding more enjoyment in the medium!!#my favorite hobby is to imagine the isat cast happy (<- lies)#I think this bleeds into whatever he makes for the party as well#ofc a lot of his clothes are modeled to fit siffrin- primary and preferred clothing test dummy#but even when using them just as a model- he takes siffrin as an individual into account#it’s less ‘what would I like to see siffrin wear’ and more ‘what would siffrin want to wear?’#and that idea as well starts to shape his work. something about how it ties to change- that the outer surface he wears is made to fit-#- the perceived wants of Other People. how wearing that facade never made him feel right. how clothes mimick that uncomfortably tight armor#why subject the model to that? a garment is as much of a garment as it is a piece of someone#it’s a reflection of Isabeau’s mind. but it’s also something tailored to the interest and preference of that who wears it#it gives his work a lot of variety- especially in the cases where he works with different models or off of a blank base.#idk. I could ramble longer but I won’t

A Hawks x Artist!Reader fic where you're out drawing random civilians and hoping for a chance to sketch some patrolling heroes too when you spot Hawks. He's taking a quick break, perched leisurely on the roof of a nearby shop, surveying the area when he sees you drawing him. He freezes, wings that were previously softly waving coming to a still, golden eyes locking firmly onto yours.
You avert your gaze so fast your neck hurts, and you unsuccessfully try to hide behind your little sketchbook, your face on fire at getting caught. When you've caught your breath and you feel brave enough to look back, Hawks is holding up two fingers. Then he strikes a dramatic hero pose and you gape, eyes wide with disbelief as you realize he'll hold the pose for two minutes, just so you can draw him. You do so with your heartbeat hammering in your ears.
#you don't see him often#but when you do he'll strike a different pose for you to draw#you start to draw a ton of pigeons to learn wing anatomy#your sketchbook that was supposed to have a variety of subjects eventually just features pigeons and Hawks#its a theme alright#Can i have time to just write silly fics and make silly art plz#Hawks as your personal model for learning anatomy tho???#a girl can dream#hawks#my writing#hawks x reader

so many of ame's problems can be attributed to the fact that one of if not her only models for interacting with the world is grandmother wren. and grandmother wren was lovely and wise, but she earned her right to act the way she did through decades and decades of experience and trial, and ame is a teenage girl with a fraction of her knowledge even with her memories uncovered.
#wbn#worlds beyond number#suvi has a host of problems but she grew up with a clear variety of role models and peer with varying experience#ame knows other witches. she knows that collaboration and sharing power is important#but it is so funny to see her in social situations bc she models wren SO hard
