This is not Danger Days related, but it somewhat baffles me when people state Chappell Roan and Gerard Way are nothing alike.

The makeup, the stage presence, the performance, just...the artistry both of them have as singers. I highly suggest this post by @roanofarc to just highlight some similarities between the two aesthetic wise. Blaspheming religion, pushing gender norms in their clothing. I mean? Not only that, their personalities are so similar.

If Gerard Way taught me anything as a teenager, it was to be myself and express myself in whatever way that is. Both Chappell and Way amplify this sort of individualism and thrust for creativity. They don't put up with invasive and rude fans. They don't take shit from the media and have held them accountable multiple times. I mean they've done this so many times that they have drawn criticism from even their fans. They're open about their mental health struggles.

And perhaps most obvious at all, they're very supportive of the LGBT community and have been loud about it.

So...this idea that they aren't similar is so...bizarre?

Himari manages to convince Afterglow to do a Hot To Go cover, complete pink cowgirl hats. Tsugu is happy to do it, Moca joins in for the memes, Tomoe gets sucked in cause she's a pushover and it's in good fun, and Ran begrudgingly agrees only if she doesn't have to sing it, so Himari does. Somehow she has more success getting the crowd to do the dance than she has ever had with ei ei oh.

Mod Fusion: Most people expected Pasupare or even Popipa to cover this song, so imagine the fanbase when Afterglow dropped this cover! It trended almost instantly, especially with Himari in charge of the vocals.

in like. a really weird fucked up way i want chappell roan’s red wine supernova yo (and other songs she has) connect to the hearts of many little cis het guys relating to her isms about girls enough and/or loving camp enough and/or love the fun and love of it all in a very youthful and electric way. Drag queens and how they affect society. I don’t want to just label her as a queer icon. I want fans who aren’t from this culture to get behind it. For dozens of women to come out of the closet and believe in themselves. She’s not just standing up for american queer culture, she donates back into the community a shit ton and she’s got explosive numbers. From places I know people who benefit from the help. But I think there’s so much punch to her experience and her amazing song writing and production. She’s a lesbian drag queen singing about her experiences with sapphic troubles while also having songs that go just as hard and sometimes are only about men or a man. Even After Midnight talks about kissing both (“girlfriends” and “boyfriends”so Like !!! she expressed afab sexuality really beautifully in a certain way. Idk it’s mesmerizing to me bc i don’t listen to a lot of songs with heavy sexual themes in pop songs. But the way it’s so much framing getting off in such direct and beautiful ways!! “Knee deep in the passenger seat and you’re eating me out, is it casual now?”(Casual), “You just told me, want me to fuck you.
