Number 1:

All the men in the Lipshitz/Mathews/Goldstein family have a middle name that’s a derivative of Jon. Paul, Gary, and Jerry have jon, John, and Jonn respectively, Trevor has Jonah and Richie Jonathan, and other men in the family tree also have one of those middle names, something similar, or the same with different spelling.

Headcannon B:

Some of Lauren’s characters are cousins. Specifically Emma, Ruth, and Brooke, their mothers are sisters, hence the surname differences. This little tidbit is relevant to another headcannon coming up.

Part III:

Richie introduced Paul to anime. Paul was babysitting and Richie put on sailor moon, now Paul likes anime, specifically magical girl anime. Because it was his first, his favourite is sailor moon, and he’s a crystal truther (like me) and has seen the original anime but dislikes all the filler that wasn’t in the manga that crystal excludes to cut to the chase of the plot. And the precious little simp sees him and Emma as Mamorou and Usagi, Endymion and Serenity, Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Moon, he thinks he is her fate destined saviour (he is) and simps for her in the same lame way as the dumping in the show.

None of the nerdy prudes can drive. Ruth can’t safely drive because her headgear is considered a distraction, Richie is an ambulatory mobility aid user and legally can’t drive, Peter can’t drive because his eyesight is so bad in one eye that he’s legally blind and also legally can’t drive, Grace’s parents don’t let their little girl drive and she doesn’t want to go against her parents, Steph can’t drive because she lost her licence for reckless driving (she gets exited a bit too easy on the road)

(Edit/update: I should have probably mentioned that Pete’s situation is being based off of the road laws of Victoria, Australia, where from my knowledge if you have poor vision in one eye and are legally blind in the other you can’t drive, so I might be wrong when it comes to American road rules)

Fifth:

There was a comic convention “incident”. Ruth and Richie wanted to set up Paul and Emma, because the little nerds are friends and they wanted to set up their uncle and cousin respectively because they were seeing ✨signs✨ that their loved ones had a crush on each other. There was a comic convention in Clivesdale or some other close town to the island and Ruth and Richie wanted to go and found it as a way to set them up. Ruth asked if her favourite adult cousin could chaperone her to the convention, and hey there might be some stoners to test product. Richie told Paul there would be sailor moon and also he can’t drive and come on uncle Paul you get me the most. Ruth and Richie withheld the information for each other’s attendance to their respective adults and “coincidentally” found each other at the con, and Paul and Emma were befuddled and smitten, and now the 4 of them go to at least 1 con a year for the sake of family and saving gas money (and so Paul and Emma can flirt)

as i’m sure you all know, the elections just passed and needless to say, i’m honestly in a state of shock. some of you might not know this, but i actually am not american, but nonetheless donald trump winning is just horrid and plain disgusting. truly appalling for the state of the entire world.

not even as someone with a relatively large platform, but just as a black and queer woman, i’m so worried for the safety and livelihood of people like me— women, queer, and ethnic minorities. people who’s lives are in danger grossly.

in a time like this, where things like project 2025 are looming as well as multiple attacks on the rights of others, in both north america and places like sudan, congo, haiti, palestine, yemen, and more, i can only encourage you all to stay strong. to fight for each other. to engage in your communities in a time so perilous, as it’s needed now more than ever. volunteer locally, share mutual aid, mobilize, wear a mask (!!), protest, do all you can, because the next few years will be as hard as ever. increased surveillance, increased militia, and increased police presence— they’re doing it all.

I wish I had more methods of self-defense using tools against moids. I live in australia so can't even carry pepper spray in public :(((( and i have to join a club to get access to a gun

It really does suck not easily being able to defend ourselves but there are a few things that could help apart from guns and pepper spray:

DIY Pepper spray. If you're in a country where pepper spray is illegal you can make your own one (tho it can be less potent compared to store bought). Bear in mind pepper spray needs to be changed after a period of time. For DIY pepper sprays change them every 3-6 months as potency can be lost overtime. If you're caught argue it's for food & it's all you had at the time.

Alt (aerosol) sprays. Things like hairspray, wasp spray, and deep heat. If you want to stay clean legal wise but also want something to defend yourself with. Similar thing with pepper spray in terms of being mindful where you spray. I can only attest that deep heat massage spray does pack quite the punch, nowhere near actual pepper spray but can be enough to cause disorientation giving you a chance to run. Hair/wasp sprays are shakey tbh but can help if you have nothing else.

Mobile phone. Ever had a phone fall on your face before? Ouch. But phones are surprisingly strong. Not a first approach I'd personally go for but if there's nothing else or it comes down to it; instead of just throwing punches (that'll mostly be ineffective), you can use a smart phone to aid in landing more effective hits. Main downside with this is that you've gotta be pretty close. Now some may think "but I dont want to ruin my phone" but you can always replace a phone not your life.

Ofc best thing to do is to try & get away but there are times where you're backed into a corner. Legal system sucks & punishes women for defending themselves but it is what it is. I personally use the last two more often as back up bc it's long making your own pepper spray.

Her society isn't so easily comparable to what we experience, and even in comparing it to other societies it shows a bias towards a very democratic capitalist systems, which consistently fail minority groups (see Australia's recent referendum) and create extreme class divides that with no upward mobility that instills a "noble" class in billionaires outside of all consequences who serve as political decision-makers without the public's consent and steals the wages of the middle-class and poor alike for their mega yachts.

Fodlan is a xenophobic country. Democracy isn't going to work there.

Edelgard's society of catering to the specific individual needs of her subjects through public schooling, equal rights (not a "we need to respect that some people are born noble and better" ideology), religious freedom, and an understanding of equity is far more advanced than the societies created by her peers.

Also. How did you expect her to kill the Agarthans before Remire? They don't know where they are. No one does.

Obviously you understand that Edelgard isn't actually in control of Adrestia, right? Like she has her own bid and Hubert's. But she has to perform a military coup in order to even have a majority vote of confidence in her council. She can't get rid of Thales for the same reason the Insurrection happened in the first place. The Emperor consolidating power scares the nobility and they would revolt again.

Beyond that, the war is stated as "inevitable" by the game repeatedly. If not Edelgard it would have been someone else. (The Tragedy of Duscur was already an act of war from Agartha.)

So in order to have any spin on the war she needed to convince the head of Adrestia's military that it was a good choice backing her. How do you do that? You promise conquest! How does Edelgard know it's a good time for her to promise conquest? Because that's what the Slithers were already planning to do, she's cashing their cheques to steal back governmental control, and Thales can't do shit because despite him still owning his own giant militia, this "to war" attitude was what they wanted anyway. And he's not worried because Edelgard for the most part needs their support and she cannot trust anyone in any government ever while they still exist.

Her situation is more nebulous than you give it credit for and it relates specifically to the order in which Fodlan needs to be deconstructed to remove the rot. It's why Rhea never stays in power in any route. She was a super conservative.

I've stated several times in the past that the system Edelgard seeks to create is a meritocracy, which you were kind enough to spare me provide a definition. It seems that you are unknowingly or not projecting onto Edelgard's society, as there is no evidence of religious freedom or a freedom of equity being in Edelgard's ideal society, with equal rights being nebulous as it is possible that the talented rising in society could be considered equal rights and education being a possibility that Edelgard will consider. The main issues I have with Edelgard is her complicity in several of Agartha's crimes and her war of conquest.

You do realise that Fodlan's caution towards foreign nations is because most of them such as Almyra and Sreng continue to launch offensives against Leicester and Faerghus, with Dagda recently launching an invasion of Adrestia, additionally the claim of xenophobia comes from Claude, the guy who consistently dodges the fact that Almyra continues to assault Leicester, only being halted by Holst.

I am in a bit of a sticky situation where I currently can't work because of acquired spinal injury and chronic illness - however need money for doctors appointments and imaging that I can't afford on government benefits. More about my situation

I have a family history of spinal issues (my dad had major spine surgery when I was 6, with his side of the family having consistent acquired spine injuries going back generations) and unfortunately my turn on the family spine came a good 10 years before 'normal'. I seem to have 2 separate issues co-occurring in the T and S sections of my spine which are causing gradual motor function loss and a LOT of pain. I have also had a mystery fatigue/pain condition which we are now about to confirm as fibromyalgia since about age 15.

After my legs nearly gave out at work last November during a particularly bad pain episode at work, I went and got an intial MRI that showed irregularities in my spine in the areas my pain comes from. I have gotten much worse since then so need new MRI's with added contrast dye which brings the price up quite a bit (it will be $4-500+). I quit my job in February under the impression that I just needed to rest for a bit and could go to a less intense job after 3 weeks. I honestly don't think I would have lasted much longer if I didn't quit anyway because I was taking close to or the 24 hr limit of panedeine forte at work just for the 8 hour shift (needed to drive so couldn't take stronger opioids + opioids make me feel HORRIBLE). I think my body was holding out until I had a period of rest because I began declining quite rapidly between February and now.

I have been using crutches to help walk/stand for about a month and a half now and I can't stand for more than an hour max (30+ mins is starting to push it tho), which is a HUGE contrast to 6 months ago where I was standing 32+ hours a week and moving around constantly. I've also gone from being able to comfortably lift 25-30kg to struggling with less than 10. These limitations knock out a LOT of jobs I'm qualified for (read: non-skilled, physical labour) - so trying to find answers for what's happening to me is very difficult and slow because I can't afford to just throw myself at specialists; and with the unofficial and slow death of bulk billing in Australia even my GP is getting too expensive. My partner is also disabled and receives DSP from the government so is not in a position to help finance my medical care because he is barely affording his own.

You're of course under absolutely no obligation to support me (and this isn't a sympathy post), but sharing this around would mean the world to me because I REALLY need to get some money together for medical care.

In Australia most of these are covered by various government schemes, although often it’s for certain groups of people.

Glasses, you need to have a health care card (which means you’re either on government benefits or on a provably low income) and what it means it you’ll get single vision lenses in cut-price frames for a lower cost than usual.

Hearing aids - again, you need to have a health care card, but you can get a hearing aid fitted and prescribed for free.  The batteries, however, are not covered by government subsidy, and they’re expensive little whatsits.

Mobility aids - Need to be on the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) if you’re under 65; if you’re over 65, I think the Aged Care system will help subsidise it.

AAC devices - again, NDIS if you’re under 65.  Don’t know whether they’re available to people over 65 or not.

Prescription medications - this is where the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme Safety Net comes into play.  For all Australian citizens (or all people who have a Medicare card number - same effective difference), once you have paid a certain amount for PBS-registered prescription medications (which are already subsidised by the government) in the course of a calendar year, the price paid for each prescription drops to a much lower rate, and once you pass a second threshold, the price drops again (to nothing).  For people who are on a low income (health care card, again) they get the lower price to start with, and when they reach the first threshold, their prescription cost drops to zero.  (The trick with this one is that it runs by household - so everyone in the household needs to be listed on the same overall Medicare card number, but with different individual identifiers). 

Therapy - mostly if you need a lot of physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology, dietician assistance, etc, you need to be either paying for private health insurance ancillary health cover, or you need to be on the NDIS if you’re under 65, or registered with the Aged Care system if you’re over 65.  The NDIS will tend to fund a certain level of therapy hours with each plan, and often they’ll specify how many of which hours you’re allowed to spend their money on (for example, my plan for autism includes a lot of psychology hours, but not much PT or OT).  If you’re needing mental health care, it is possible to get a Mental Health Plan, which will allow you a grand total of 10 psychologist visits at the Medicare bulk billing rate (if you can find a psychologist who firstly, bulk bills, and secondly, has the capacity to take on new clients) per year.  This is basically a maintenance schedule - you hopefully won’t get any worse than when you started, but you certainly won’t be getting any better.
