And it felt like Oriko barely even scratched the surface of its characters... only Oriko, Kirika and Yuma when the main cast has ten characters... I guess fuck extra story and sadness prayer :T I will still never not be mad at the suzune and tart bias especially since they both have vile, disgusting artists behind them...

And we never got the ep12 anime magical girls even with the ultimate madoka 2nd magia tease... sigh...

We got a LOT of good witches through magireco though. Im so glad they actually revealed Winchester and the witch of symbols cause in earlier days I really didnt think they would.

I just hope magia exedra is good and gives me lots and lots of witches!!! I'm honestly wondering though... will exedra keep the magireco characters or ditch them to go only back to the main five..? Hmmm

Death the Kid card with Miyano Mamoru's signature on it from the Soul Eater game from around 2014 by Mobage. Thanks to Reddrops on discord for saving and sharing the this! (and ty to twitter user for the other 2!) I just need to find the full version of the other 2, and if there are any more I am missing hopefully I can find them someday. It was very short lived and I originally thought there was nothing new in the game so that's why I didn't save at all.

I don't get why people stuck with gacha games in general like I'm not trying to maliciously throw shade here but mobage always truly seemed to me to embody actually self-destructive game design making all their ideas worse by nature.

Like I may have always felt the odd man out that I never got hooked on them, but now I feel the odd man out that it's strange I think they're actively *bad* games compared to their full priced alternatives.

Maybe people are just settled in with their stories and characters in mobage they like and have long since stopped caring or maybe even acquired a taste for the infinite grind and generally heavily automated gameplay

Is it not the same problem as live service games? Like why do we give paid $60 live service singleplayer games shit, if that model can make genuinely good experiences then why is it an issue?

Like I know I come across as a contrarian sometimes but I just like what I like and I try to like all sorts of games even if I think I won't like them. I think the closest I've come to enjoying a mobage is Priconne and that was, like everyone else playing, just for the art and characters and storylines. I didn't play much more than a month though because the gameplay loop was a soul sucking tedium, and now it's been discontinued so even if I wanted to power through to go see more character stories, I can't!

Which is another huge problem with mobage! I can think of at least 3 mobage I got temporarily invested in and are now defunct. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think there's any way to play those? Talk about delisted, there's no way to pirate or emulate those games. Even in paid titles that can happen with multiplayer titles, MMO's, and the very rare single player game, but that's almost a certainty with every mobage. We've seen some developers move their mobage off platform like Rockman X Dive and Grisaia Chronos Trigger. We also see them making full price console games like Little Noah and Azur Lane. I honestly sincerely hope this becomes the norm so that more people can experience the art that actually goes into the mobage but without the inherently anti-player designs put in place.

I know a lot of people still complain about mobage so maybe I'm beating a dead horse or preaching to the choir. But it just felt like recently we have just lost all pushback. This might be coming from a place of privelege cause I got the cash to buy paid releases consistently as I see ones that interest me. But I feel like if I went broke and had to choose between mobage and just emulating GBA games on my phone, I'd still be on the latter 100%

I guess my question to mobage fans is like. Do you just not care about the infinite grind, FOMO, inevitable closing of the game, limited game mechanics, gacha and paywalled content, etc etc etc

Or do you see it as an inevitability of mobage and a capitalistic genie that could never be put back into the bottle, and you enjoy the mobage for what good they do have despite these issues being unresolvable

I have a question, who's your favorite artist? Sorry if it's kinda like a sudden question, is that i am genuinely curious about what artists inspire you, because your art is so lovely and awesome!

I've been having a great day, thanks! I'm glad that you think my art is lovely and awesome, even though I don't think it stands out too much compared to a lot of other lovely people on this site.

As for my favorite artist, that's a hard question. I have a lot of artists I like, even if we boil it down to just Tumblr or Twitter users, but I feel the most influential artists on my style that I can say are probably my favorite are two artists primarily known for SD Gundam works named Susumu Imaishi and Kouji Yokoi.

(More under the cut since this might be a bit long)

Susumu Imaishi does a lot of the little comics in SD Gundam and his Legend BB art was what primarily inspired me. Especially with his varied expressions in these comics.

Another major artist is Kouji Yokoi, who does a lot of Gundam-related art. He's also one of the main people working on the SD Gundam franchise and is the original creator. He's also done stuff for other mecha series, Godzilla, Kamen Rider, and Ultraman, but I mostly associate him with SD Gundam.

I'm not really going to post his other works, but I do want to mention that the mangaka Tamori Wataru's manga for the SD Gundam carddas booklets has also been an influence on me due to all the expressions he uses for the characters.

Side note, I'd also like to shoutout Knight Gundam Story manga artist Hoshino Ryuichi since he has had a bit of influence on my art style.

I'm also just gonna drop a few specific artists on Twitter I love who might have influenced me because of how much I like their work.

中西達郎 (Tatsuro Nakanishi) - Love a lot of their art. Also a published mangaka. Jumpscares me whenever they bookmark one of my pieces on Pixiv because they follow me there.

Crafty_121 - An absolute sweetheart, I love how soft her style is.

三輪士郎/Shirow Miwa - Does a lot of stuff for mobages and FGO, but you can tell they love it. They even did an SD Gundam piece that lives rent-free in my head.

八八二三 - I LIVE for their Gundam gijinkas they are SOOOO good.

氷水 (aka IceWater) - Partially biased since I was a contributor to two of their SD Gundam fanbooks, but I love their watercolor drawings a ton. Also, they once did a short animation TRADITIONALLY and I highly respect them for it.

あまきな (aka haguma_karasu)- Ok, so on my server, we have a sort of in-joke where someone yells "WAKE UP BABE NEW HAGUMA KARASU PIECE DROPPED!" whenever they post a new piece and it's like a massive event on the server. And that's for a good reason, their art goes H A R D.

麦茶 (aka yuuno0) - A sort of mini celebrity on my personal server due to being the first major SD Gundam artist to do FGO and SD Gundam crossover art. I've commed them before. :3

coconutsan1 - They don't post much anymore, but when they do, it's great. Also one of the few artists that does Saddrac Knight Saga fan art, which is like a rarity even in the JP SD Gundam fandom.

tabolow01 - There's something strangely wholesome to them, probably one of the most influential fan artists on my own style. I love their detailed SD Gundam guides and how they redraw memes taking them completely seriously.

Moyashi - I love their art because of how haunting it feels, even when it's a more optimistic piece.

First impression: ok im pretty sure i saw her main design before i watched the prologue (i started watching like, 2 or 3 episodes in when it was airing?) and i was like. hell yes. a female char clone and she is a MOM. badass. and yeah the vibes were sinister from the start but i love that about a woman <3

Impression now: STILL MOM <3 gaslight gatekeep girlboss <3 i think it is funny she was an adult and still got off with seemingly no consequences bc shaddiq, a 17 year old took the blame. like not a shaddiq fan but its funny she got away with it. then again she did seem very much to be becoming disabled so yk maybe they were like. ok mom let's get you on this wheelchair it's been enough. get on the farm and maybe you'll calm down. WHO KNOWS! love her tho i support all women evil or not

Favorite moment: HMMM i enjoy her bickering with miorine lol. like when miomio is still (fake) engaged to guel and they're on a video call with prospera and she keeps telling miorine random shit she did without her permission inside the company and miomio is just SO mad. that was so great

Idea for a story: i might be repeating myself from the wing asks but again bc we didn't actually see prospera speak in the ending.. please.. i want to see what the daily life is like with prospera, eri (keychain edition), suletta and miorine. I REALLY WANT TO SEE IT. IT WOULD BE FUNNY. it would also be interesting to have an introspection and a personal pov from prospera too in regards to various things like miorine and delling (especially post-canon) or kenanji??? surprised she didn't kill him tbh

Unpopular opinion: UHHHH. i don't know?!?! i think most people agree that she got off too easy but i kind of put that on the ending being so rushed in general. it is what it is. not sure what is popular and what is unpopular in regards to her other than "she's hot" is popular (and correct)

Favorite relationship: HARD TO SAY?? me and my girlfriend kept going "toxic yuri" whenever she was on screen with belmeria. but like obviously i find her relationship with both suletta and miorine interesting, in a "oh that's awful" way. the way both of them stood up to her though and made her realize....... :') maybe the kids are alright. and again the bickering with miorine is so so funny

Favorite headcanon: idk i think miorine should introduce her to videogames post canon. yk when miorine is mad at her dad in the beginning of the series and angrily playing mobage locked in the bathroom stall. i think prospera would become normal if they let her play call of duty to get her anger out on the mic or if they made her play animal crossing or something. i #believe. miomios gamer rehabilitation

New year round up for what I'm still playing, mobage/gacha edition.

Ash Echoes is my current beau du jour. The story has been really ramping up and the latest one was so good! Since we have Foresight EX due to the CN server being a year ahead, knowing it'll keep getting better is a plus. I really love a lot about this game, and all the characters are so cool... Boreas comes out next week, and I can't wait to pull my next healer! The game is such a diamond in the rough though; not many I can talk to about it...

I picked up Infinity Nikki (PS5), and it's been mostly what I wanted from an open world game. Nikki's fashion still isn't really to my taste, which is good for my wallet, but the experience has been really good so far. My roommate also picked it up to play casually once he found out BotW's director (or whatever) worked on it (and you can tell) but now he's been getting more intense into it lol...

My other fashion game, Life Makeover, is still going for me since that one does have styles to my taste, but I've been defunding parts of it. The monetization has been getting really, really aggressive lately, even more than the already aggressive monetization that's virtually present in all dress up gacha, and it's been turning me off.

Onmyoji still trucking along. I feel like the game has gotten a bit aimless in story, as if they're not sure what to do. Post-Takamagahara, we started with the four clans which has been hinted at for literal years, but now we're in fantasy China. We haven't seen Seimei-tachi in a while either. While I enjoyed Fengyang and Guijinyang, I'm just a bit baffled by the writing decisions since they don't feel very coherent to Onmyoji's overall vision. Maybe it'll come together eventually...

GBF be GBF. Water GW this month, though I don't think I'll go hard since my water teams are???? Also I don't really care about the Divine Generals, so the anniversary event is whatever to me. Nothing exciting was in the December livestream either.

Wuthering Waves released on PS5 so I installed it there to see if anything changed (dropped before Black Shores release). Zani is cool but I'm not sure if I'll pull her since I don't think I'll get enough currency since I'm still unsure if I want to commit again. The new area is so empty? Like I remembered Jinzhou just had more random things to find during exploration: chests, events, even mats, but Rinascita's land is ... empty. It doesn't feel satisfying to explore. Also the design elements feel like more of the same. There's some parts that express the region's identity, such as the whimsical towns and Echoes, but overall it's just another green area. (Also, I think Nikki spoiled me cause there I would stop to take in the vistas and snap photos, but here hasn't been very breathtaking.) I still haven't shaken the feeling of disappointment for this game yet.

For 2025, not much has interested me. Tribe Nine looks interesting but might be too difficult for what I look for in a gacha game. Black Beacon has a depressing m/f ratio and it's ex-PGR devs, but I'll probably try it out to see if the story is worthwhile. Duet Night Abyss feels like vaporware at this point, but the gameplay is different so I'm curious despite the fanservicey nature of the designs so far. Not much else, I think? Everything feels like tits and ass only or MHY clones in terms of design/execution or both. Or they're bloated productions which require a PC to play, which is just depressing for someone who wants ostensibly mobile games to be mobile.
