oh!! as a jada lover, have we seen any of her art in the story yet? if not, what kind of art does she make? what artists (if any) are her major influences?

we've seen her painting a few times but i don't think we've seen any of her completed art! she tends to throw away her paintings as soon as she finishes them because their primary purpose is being a cathartic release of emotion, so it's not something she wants to look at regularly. sometimes her dad poaches them from the trash and hides them in the garage because she might want them someday 🥲 but she usually doesn't even wait for them to dry, so they get all messed up in the trash. the only ones she keeps or gifts to other people are landscape paintings which she does mostly for practice. she's also done small paintings of her friends and given them as gifts!

i wish i could go into detail about her influences, techniques, preferences, etc. but i sadly know nothing about art, let alone painting 😭 all i can say is her paintings tend to be more textured and... idk.. chunkier?? fjksjds because when she's in the zone she kinda slaps the paint on there really thick

since i have no artistic talent myself, i have to work with what i've got, which is just sims screenshots and photoshop... these are some of my favorite "jada paintings"!!

she trashed all of these when she was done :( which is really a shame because elaine would've loved that one

“Stay away from them!” Amy sprang to her feet to bang her fists against the glass. Magic sparked out of her hands with each hit against the window. How did she not see the similarities between Alouette and Dianthus until now?

“Don't wear yourself out, my dear, you know the place is warded. Not that you know many spells to be much of a bother,” he said. “Besides, it’s not me your parents need to be concerned about; I only want to help.”

🎭 MASKS - do they act differently around certain people? what's different between the way they act around friends, family, strangers, etc.?

Carn has a few different "selves"! Around his family, especially his sister, he is very "everything is going great and I'm achieving all of my goals and dreams" and pretty serious and focused, there's a bit of competition between him and Topaz. In the magic community, he Tries to present as this know-it-all prodigy, but his knowledge doesn't even scratch the surface of how deep magic goes (which isn't really his fault; this only got introduced to his family with his parents, and Callie's somewhat wary of it). And then around his friends, they see him for the insecure disaster who feels like he's failing everything and can't get anything right.

🌪️ TORNADO - what is the biggest change you've ever made to them? how have they changed from their original version?

ooh I had to actually look at my notes for this one! WAAAY back before I had settled on the route the BPR was gonna take, there wasn't any magic in gen 4! Or at all really! So I guess the biggest change was when I completely threw the rules for the gen out the window, decided that the spouse was not a doctor, and decided he doesn't get to be happy :) (tbh gen 4 was EXTREMELY undeveloped for a long time bc i was obsessed with gen 3 and then obsessed with gen 5, so it took me a bit to even formulate it in the first place!)

☄️ COMET - what do people assume about them? are they right?

Spellcasters assume he's just like his practically famous mother, and is able to realm walk. That one's a sore subject. Non-magic people assume he's a bit pretentious, particularly about art. They're kinda right lol

💖 SPARKLING HEART - are they a subtle or a showy lover?

EXTREMELY SHOWY!! Topaz and her wife are extremely sappy lesbians who need everyone to know how in love they are

🌱 SEEDLING - what is their most vivid memory from childhood?

When she and Carn stole a spellbook from Watermelon when they were about 8 or 9 and tried some of the more powerful spells, which backfired and ended up setting the backyard on fire. No one got hurt! But they got a very long lecture from both Watermelon and their mom about taking magic seriously.

💢 ANGER - what are some habits they have that will take some getting used to?

Topaz kinda does whatever she wants and has no filter; while Carn is a bit more serious and thinks everything through meticulously, she does whatever comes to mind, as soon as it comes to mind. This drives Carn absolutely insane, especially because, when he compares himself to her, her life is going a lot better!

hi brandi! i've been a follower for a long time and just FINALLY caught up on camelia from start to finish - I love this story and this world and these characters you've created so much! i love these types of scenes because they get the least notes but the most interaction, and that's the most inspirational & motivating thing to me, so i want to say an extra big thank you 💖 anyway let the sadness commence

wellllll if jada saw this vision, it means asa did die, at least in the medical sense of the word. she doesn't see visions of grievous injuries, she only sees death. but we know from past experiences that when asa goes traveling, his body continues to breathe and his heart continues beating even though he has zero brain activity and thus should be dead. so we'll just have to wait and see how that factors into this situation 😌 either way, the emotional devastation everyone around him will feel because of this is... yeah. it's a lot :( the consequences of this decision go deeper than "will he or won't he survive?" because even if he does survive, he will have to contend with the fact that everyone will think he took his own life on purpose. he's already been fighting to get more privacy and trust from his parents, but after this......... man.... :/

@bitchyybabyy400 that's a really good question which i unfortunately can't answer yet :P what i can say though, is that jada's visions have been very consistent! she's only ever seen 3 flashes of "information" leading to someone's death (no dialogue). she sees the vague location, the method of death, and the person's face during/after death. everything else, she extrapolates from the scene, or she only learns it in hindsight from the news or from talking to others. so it will be really interesting to see exactly what she knows!

also omg i was so worried the content warning would spoil it and everyone would be able to guess what was about to happen, but i obviously couldn't post this one without a warning. i'm glad to know it didn't ruin the post for you!

aw man i'm sorry to hear they don't do the free trial anymore, that was such a cool thing. unfortunately i wouldn't feel comfortable uploading someone else's creative work for free and i wouldn't even know how to tbh, because it was kind of a complicated download process that included a lot of custom brushes, textures, etc. i'm sorry!! :(

honestly, i have never made a new years resolution in my life, so this is a fun exercise to try out for once!

what's your resolution for your simblr?

this is VERYYYYY ambitious but i want to fully complete the core "everything the stars promised" and move on to doing side content and MOST IMPORTANTLY the more loosey goosey fun epilogue :)

april 15th of this year will mark the second anniversary of the story! i've done so much and yet at the same time, so little in the grand scheme of the plot i have in mind. i randomly checked today to see how many pages on my blog the story takes up and we're at 31 pages! so, uh, about 15 pages a year - not sure if that's good progress or not but oh well! we are getting close to the extra exciting parts of the story, and i would love to finish it all up this year, you know? finish on a nice round even anniversary number and with a bunch of plot point bangers lolol

but we'll see! it's possible, maybe, since i'm graduating college this semester and will have more free time for a while, at least i as figure out the work situation and probably even while working whenever i do get a job since nightly homework will no longer exist LMAO, but even if it's not possible, i am definitely promising myself to work harder on the story! i really do love this thing despite it all and i'm proud of it, and i want to see how much i can keep improving it so that the ending is truly the best part <3

what do you want from the sims franchise?

a sale on kits lmfaoooo!!! (which will never happen) i have exactly 5 dollars left over from an old gift card someone gave me for ea app when it was still origin. it's exactly enough for a kit except that sales tax adds on 7 cents and the gift card leftovers don't cover that.

yeahhhh...i'm neither charging 7 cents for sales tax nor 5 bucks for a second kit to my credit card. no, ma'am. i want that shit for FREE

any other new years resolutions?

don't become incredibly depressed by the shock of leaving the school system after almost 23 years of life and the horrors of figuring out the whole...life and career...thing

lol this resolution will be broken

so, how about an achievable one? read more books and write more actual prose, whether for my sims story or for something else. i've been so burnt out from academia that it's all stopped being fun. like even my sims story has been such a drag to create because i just have zero desire to write, to work on the outline, or find inspiration.

and that really sucks. writing and reading have been a huge part of my life for so long and they mean a lot to me, but right now they do feel exhausting. i'm tired of looking at a word document and wanting to bash my head into the keyboard because it reminds me of writing project proposals and boring shit instead of good fiction.

but i'm hoping the freedom from academia will spark joy in my literary hobbies again, and i'm going to try and bring back my love for them myself :) not sure how but aside from finding a way to work on the sims story more, i'm thinking maybe i'll commit to trying out more short-form writing prompts.

last TV show: i haven't watched a TV show in a hot minute but i have been watching all the NHL playoff games lately, so hockey? my favorite team is out of contention but i'm watching all the games anyway

currently watching/listening to: kind of the same answer as above! i've been watching hockey and also i've been watching the star wars movies with my best friend. i'm not really a star wars fan (sorry, i'm committed to being a trekkie for life) but she's a huge fan so i don't mind enjoying with her! for music...really i've just been listening to the new rammstein album! that and my general metal & kpop playlists. usual stuff for me 😅

currently reading: anna karenina! i got an absolutely gorgeous version of the book for christmas and i've been saving it to read for the summer. the book itself is hardback and leather-bound, aka my DREAM book 🤤😍

current obsession/hyperfixation: i'm just coming fresh off two back-to-back video game hyperfixations in mass effect and skyrim, so the sims motivation is coming back finally! so i'd say i'm a bit obsessed at the moment with planning out my story and trying to get it moving along faster. that's my main sims project so i'm trying to put my effort into that instead of other sims stuff

Oh man, one day we WILL get into Howlite's backstory, but not for a while, but for now I'll say that Howlite essentially had to raise herself– her dad was super absent after her mother died (so like. since she was a newborn), and the only maternal figure she had was Pearl, Marble's mom, who HEAVILY manipulated Howlite and just really fucked her up

☁️ CLOUD - a soft headcanon

She loved babysitting Hya and Aster when they were babies :) It was a nice break from the hell of living with Pearl, and gave her a small taste of the family she always wanted. Similarly, she loved Holly like a daughter, and that relationship meant the world to her. (And it also meant the world to Holly)
