oh!! as a jada lover, have we seen any of her art in the story yet? if not, what kind of art does she make? what artists (if any) are her major influences?

we've seen her painting a few times but i don't think we've seen any of her completed art! she tends to throw away her paintings as soon as she finishes them because their primary purpose is being a cathartic release of emotion, so it's not something she wants to look at regularly. sometimes her dad poaches them from the trash and hides them in the garage because she might want them someday 🥲 but she usually doesn't even wait for them to dry, so they get all messed up in the trash. the only ones she keeps or gifts to other people are landscape paintings which she does mostly for practice. she's also done small paintings of her friends and given them as gifts!

i wish i could go into detail about her influences, techniques, preferences, etc. but i sadly know nothing about art, let alone painting 😭 all i can say is her paintings tend to be more textured and... idk.. chunkier?? fjksjds because when she's in the zone she kinda slaps the paint on there really thick

since i have no artistic talent myself, i have to work with what i've got, which is just sims screenshots and photoshop... these are some of my favorite "jada paintings"!!

she trashed all of these when she was done :( which is really a shame because elaine would've loved that one

Storytelling Secrets

I was tagged by @nocturnalazure and @mmmatchasims! Thank you both for thinking of me and sorry it took me so long to get to!

I have been on hiatus for an egregiously long time now, but I'm delighted that somebody still remembers the BPR I am working on!

Honestly the first secret is that... there aren't really any secrets. I tend to be a bit too thorough with things so if I try to plan my story too far ahead, I simply will never get around to actually writing it. So I have a very general idea of the arc for the generation and the characters are quite fleshed out. But then when I drill down into the details for the plot, I write a scene, plan out the poses, and shoot and publish it basically right away. Where I left off is pretty close to the end of the piece I have outlined so there isn't really much else in my notes that I haven't already written and published.

I do however have ideas and ✨vibes✨ that I generally want to incorporate for future bits (if I ever get there, welp). So if I ever do manage to finish the first generation, I'm excited for the next one because I intend to give it a kind of gothic mystery/dark academia vibe. None of the plot has been determined so that is very subject to change, but this is basically the one real secret I have!

Before I got busy and rabbit-holed all the way into a new hobby, I actually was working on a scene. I went in-game and blocked out all of the poses and everything, but I never got to go back in and actually shoot it 💀 That scene is also a rather difficult and un-fun part of the story for me, which is also definitely part of the block, so I might actually go back and rewrite it completely.

In terms of actual story happenings, there will be at least one oopsie-baby!

Also—this is just a sims storytelling secret, specifically—Violet and her partner Alli are supposed to be the wholesome queer elders who make us all believe in true love, but in-game they are constantly fighting and breaking up?? Even though they are compatible??? I have to keep cheating their bar back up when I'm shooting so they don't fight 💀💀💀

Gen 5 is an anime. It is based on an extremely specific anime genre, it has an OST, this is the OP and this is the ED. If you know me you know where this is going. I am not subtle. I am so excited.

There's no romance for Aria in her gen. I'm sorry if that's your favourite part of legacies. But Aria's kind of got more important things going on, and she's only 16! She's got a whole life ahead of her!

I have very intense arachnophobia. I have made some Mistakes.

Some characters are meant to be parallels to people from gen 1, and a glimpse into what they could have been if they made different choices. Some characters are from gen 1.

🎭 MASKS - do they act differently around certain people? what's different between the way they act around friends, family, strangers, etc.?

Carn has a few different "selves"! Around his family, especially his sister, he is very "everything is going great and I'm achieving all of my goals and dreams" and pretty serious and focused, there's a bit of competition between him and Topaz. In the magic community, he Tries to present as this know-it-all prodigy, but his knowledge doesn't even scratch the surface of how deep magic goes (which isn't really his fault; this only got introduced to his family with his parents, and Callie's somewhat wary of it). And then around his friends, they see him for the insecure disaster who feels like he's failing everything and can't get anything right.

🌪️ TORNADO - what is the biggest change you've ever made to them? how have they changed from their original version?

ooh I had to actually look at my notes for this one! WAAAY back before I had settled on the route the BPR was gonna take, there wasn't any magic in gen 4! Or at all really! So I guess the biggest change was when I completely threw the rules for the gen out the window, decided that the spouse was not a doctor, and decided he doesn't get to be happy :) (tbh gen 4 was EXTREMELY undeveloped for a long time bc i was obsessed with gen 3 and then obsessed with gen 5, so it took me a bit to even formulate it in the first place!)

☄️ COMET - what do people assume about them? are they right?

Spellcasters assume he's just like his practically famous mother, and is able to realm walk. That one's a sore subject. Non-magic people assume he's a bit pretentious, particularly about art. They're kinda right lol

💖 SPARKLING HEART - are they a subtle or a showy lover?

EXTREMELY SHOWY!! Topaz and her wife are extremely sappy lesbians who need everyone to know how in love they are

🌱 SEEDLING - what is their most vivid memory from childhood?

When she and Carn stole a spellbook from Watermelon when they were about 8 or 9 and tried some of the more powerful spells, which backfired and ended up setting the backyard on fire. No one got hurt! But they got a very long lecture from both Watermelon and their mom about taking magic seriously.

�� ANGER - what are some habits they have that will take some getting used to?

Topaz kinda does whatever she wants and has no filter; while Carn is a bit more serious and thinks everything through meticulously, she does whatever comes to mind, as soon as it comes to mind. This drives Carn absolutely insane, especially because, when he compares himself to her, her life is going a lot better!

aw man i'm sorry to hear they don't do the free trial anymore, that was such a cool thing. unfortunately i wouldn't feel comfortable uploading someone else's creative work for free and i wouldn't even know how to tbh, because it was kind of a complicated download process that included a lot of custom brushes, textures, etc. i'm sorry!! :(

idk if this counts but the plot relies on a bit of a time skip, so in the near future, you should expect that time skip to happen. i think of it as season one and season two, and season two starts a little bit ahead of where season one ends :)

last thing i googled: donegal tweed. i bought some tweed yarn at a craft store the other day to make a scarf (never mind the fact that it's rarely cold where i live), and it's really nice yarn, so i wanted to see what other options are out there

current obsession: watching fallout new vegas speedruns

looking forward to: hopefully good results in the job market! (i need good luck ASAP, help) also hopefully posting my sims story again soon! (someone tell me to stop procrastinating,,, i have scenes done but can't bring myself to hit post)
