Nightmare Moon

It's kind of a headcanon of mine that Lunas coat doesn't actually turn fully black but instead just darker with a velvety/satin kinda twist to it, so only the lightest parts show her natural blue. Really gives the 'lost in shadows' vibe.

This one has murdered both the paper and my wrist. So I really hope you enjoy the result haha

Never watched My Little Pony but I found out something fucked up while I was on TV Tropes.

There's an episode where Luna has so much guilt for being a villain that she creates a magical force to mentally punish herself every night. In her own words "to make sure I never forgave myself for how much Equestria suffered because of me."

I have several thoughts

I thought MLP was lighthearted fluff. The fuck is this depressing shit?

I think the writers need therapy.

I feel called out.

I've heard some weird stuff about the fandom and Equestria Girls so it's a nice change of pace to find out the actual show is fucked up as well.

If you gave me a million guesses of what happened in MLP this would not be one of them.

so...do you remember the mane six redesigns i did? WELL the main two princesses are done (+nightmare moon!)

i made them non binary (feminine presenting), as id like them to be less of just an alicorn and more inter-dimensional and god-like!

thats why nmm doesnt have eyes! i wanted them to also be not so "raaah luna but evil" and much more "i want to be a better ruler than my sibling" so thats why theres some sun-like imagery in their design. blood moons are actually PERFECT for nmm, as they represent the overthrowing of a ruler. also, a blood moon is a total lunar eclipse. so, i wanted luna to basically eclipse and overshadow celestia literally and metaphorically.

An AU where Shining Armor and Luna bond over being the “other” sibling. Luna once being looked down upon for being the Alicorn of night, seen as lesser than her sister who was of day. Their subjects were biased towards which princess was at the stand talking. Their subjects talked about Luna and her beautiful night like they were monstrous dangerous things to be feared and looked down on. And it didn’t help that Celestia just wouldn’t choose a side, she wouldn’t do anything. In many cases Celestia refused to believe her subjects would bully her sister like that, and wanted evidence. Luna felt that if the only way they’d respect her in any regard is fear, then so be it. She’d give them fear, she’d give them a nightmare.

Shining Armor being seen as the other child by his and his sisters noble parents. Twilight is the personal student of Princess of day, and now the element of magic and national hero. Shining Armor has always just been the other kid, even when he got into the royal guard training program, even when he became the top of his class, even when he became the captain of the royal guard itself, and even when he and cadence became a thing. It was always, why can’t you be as successful as your sister, why can’t you be like her? Shining armor doesn’t blame Twilight for their parents behavior, and for the longest time kept his feelings to himself. Then he met the newly freed Luna, and the two ended up talking and ending up on family. The both of them no longer feeling so alone after their long conversation.
