What would happen if Marinette successfully passed the earrings to Alya in Origins part 2?

Well there has been a few au’s with this premise. But what would actually happen?

(What if Alya did get the Ladybug miraculous in Origins part 2)

-Just like in Canon, Marinette put the earrings in Alya’s bag. Not exactly informing the girl of the situation.

-Realizing the danger, and that Alya would have NO WAY of knowing the miraculous were in her bag. Marinette disguised herself to meet Alya at the scene and explain to her the situation. Also explaining about the purification power Tikki told her about.

-Alya figured out that the disguised girl was Ladybug, but she was gone after. Leaving Alya to take over.

-“Well Alya, boss your chance to be a hero.”

-Scarabella arrives, and Chat noir is a bit confused

-“what happened to Ladybug?”

-“She… was on a trial basis and she decided not to continue.”

-Chat noir frowned a bit, but he only had a brief interaction with her. So he wasn’t devastated.

-“So would you be Ladybug 2? I don’t want to get attached.”

-“How about Scarabella?”

-“Alright then.”

-They beat Stone heart, but through a different method.

-Chloé got her obsession with Scarabella instead of Ladybug.

-Fu witnessed the change and sighed. He was so sure he had picked the right ladybug… but at least Chat noir didn’t quit.

-Marinette decided that she would be supportive of her super heroine best friend. Since she gave up the powers, she would at least make it easier on Alya.

-The gum incident happened prior so the umbrella scene still happens. Marinette falls for Adrien.

-Meanwhile Adrien still can’t help but wonder about what happened to the first ladybug. Part of him wondering if it’s his fault she left. He didn’t fall in love, but it was a crush.

-Scarabella and chat noir became the heroes of Paris. Alya decided to change the name of the Ladyblog, to the Miraculous Blog, explaining that it’s a blog dedicated to the heroes of Paris. She kept notes on akuma, and made sure to have camera’s set up for capturing action pictures

-Chat noir and Scarabella got along quite well, but it was clearly platonic, chat noir’s flirts were more playful teasing, that Scarabella played back. They were simply good friends.

-Marinette would cover for Alya whenever there was an incident, so she could be a hero. Alya was glad to have such a good friend.

-Marinette had less confidence as a result of giving up her hero status, and thus remained more shy. But Alya was there to give her a boost.

-Events such as Lady Wifi and Copy cat didn’t happen.

-Chat noir did ask Scarabella if she ever knew who the first ladybug was. He at least wanted to say goodbye.

Seeing as alt MIraculois powers came up, and I was musing on invisibility, I wanted to share Jackie Chan Adventure's twelve Tasliams.

These are twelve magical powers tied to 12 "Noble animals" that were at one point all absorbed by the "Noble Dragon". Namely the Demon Sorcorer of Fire, only to eventually be forcibly removed from him when he was overthrown with the powers turned into Talismans that anyone could use.

Hilariously this is also a case of Shendu shooting himself in the foot. Because one of the powers is animation, when he loses it, he turns into a statue.

The powers in question were pretty fun too:

Rabbit - Super Speed 

Ox - Super Strength & durability

Rooster - Levitation of yourself or others.

Snake - Invisibility to yourself & sometimes objects

Horse - Rejuvenation, instant healing & immunity to pain

Monkey - Transmogrification, Animal Shapeshifting, a classic, 

Dragon - Incineration/Combustion, literally shooting explosive beams.

Pig - Optical Beams, Allegedly this power is Thermal Vision, or as Hak Foo put it, "Heat beam Eye blasts!" 

Sheep -Astral Projection, seems useless but can be used for spying or dream speaking & more when used well.

Dog - Immortality, you can't die or get older, & your boy functions at its peak, but you can feel pain & don't get younger

Rat - Animation, as in it can bring stuff to life, including imbuing it with personality, not good when the thing brought to life was an evil monkey deity 

Tiger - Spiritual Balance, can split things into their negative & positive qualities be they object or people but also recombine things it has not even split, & is apparently necessary to easily control all the other powers at once. (Low key this is why I originally wanted ML tiger to be based on theme if not power wise but Tikki & Plagg kind of got this covered)

If you have an Android phone, you can relatively-easily OCR the text in an image via "Search Image" - I can't speak to other languages, but it's very accurate at transcribing English text, and reasonably-accurate with Japanese. You can then copy-paste the transcribed text into, say, a Tumblr alt text box, dictionary, machine translator, callout post for Smash Brother, etc.

There's also an auto-translate feature - which sucks in exactly the same ways that Google Translate sucks, plus a couple more, but can often be useful for getting the gist of a bad shounen manga page or something.

(Warning: As with Google Translate in general, this output should never be trusted for anything even slightly serious. As a result of what appears to be irresponsible ML integrations + lack of input from actual bilingual people, Google Translate has gotten MUCH less accurate over the past few years, and I expect that to continue until a corporate client successfully sues Google because it stuck their name into a sentence where it wasn't originally present.)

Even though there is a comic talking about the kwamis' origins, I still feel there is a lot of important stuff missing. What would your version of Kwami's origin would be and how do you think they were able to get connected to these Jewelleries that helps them have a some sort of human form. . .

LONG ago before the universe had been born. There was nothing.

Nothing but a divine being with no name

Seeing the nothingness around them, they had decided to fix that.

Being unbound by Laws or time, the Great being tried to do something. This was the first act of Creation.

Creation being a new concept, the Divine being needed something or someone to help them. They cut a piece of themself, Thus Tikki was born, as the concept of Creation.

Tikki helped the great being create the universe. But it was disastrous! Tikki was a great helper but she created too much, and the great being needed to find a way to control this creation. So the great being did the first act of 'Destruction'.

Now understanding that there needed to be balance, with Destruction now a new concept, Plagg was born.

Tikki and Plagg helped the great being create the universe. Plagg destroying the Excess.

As the universe was created, more concepts were created. And as such, more Beings like Tikki and Plagg were formed. Made from pieces of the great being.

Tikki and Plagg were the favorites of the Great Being.

After the universe was created, the Great being realized that they had spread themselves to thin, and that they would need to rest.

The Great being unsure of what would happen in his slumber imbued Tikki and Plagg a unique power. The power of Change

Should the two ever need to change something within the universe. They would be allowed to merge and recreate the universe. A power which they can only activate if the situation is dire.

Seeing the kwami, (his children) saddened by his slumber. He sealed their memories of him. As well as making them many of the abilities they have now. Allowing them the freedom to explore the universe they all created.

Eons passed and the Kwami had explored multiple planets with life. But found themselves on earth.

Earth had been a lot more fascinating to the Kwami than the previous planets they had been on.

The kwami found themselves drawn to a specific race, one known as "Humans"

The Humans developed and grew much faster than previous races and species they witnessed. The kwami decided to protect them, help them grow.

Though the Kwami realized that they were far too powerful. Anytime they used their powers, they would cost the lives of countless individuals. Plagg had doomed several planets prior.

The Kwami wanted a way to help Humanity, without dooming it.

So Tikki and the other Kwami began to think of ways to help without hurting humanity.

The Kwami were unaware that the Great being, though deep in slumber had heard their sorrows and woes.

The great being had planted an idea in the mind of a Jewelry maker. (Who looks VERY SIMILAR to Marinette)

While watching over humanity, Tikki had spotted some beautiful jewellery. It seemed as if it was calling out to her. She had touched it and suddenly she felt herself sucked in.

The other kwami felt her presence vanish and rush to find her, each ending up trapped in jewellery pieces that called out to them.

Unfortunately for the jewellery maker, no one bought her wears that day, but having went to polish them in the night, she made contact with the kwami.

It was there that she learned about the powerful beings, including their powers and origins.

The Jewellery maker became known as a powerful magician.

And She was also the first Miraculous user. The First Ladybug.

She would go on and save her home multiple times. Including from an ancient evil.

She would also have allies assist her in battle. Giving them to who she deemed worthy of such a miraculous.

Her first choice and her partner, was the first Black Cat. (A foreigner from another land that looked VERY similar to Adrien)

With her team they would become guardians to those in need.

She would become the first "Guardian" and would end up creating the order of guardians.

Having lived for centuries thanks to the miraculous, she and her team would begin creating rules for the miraculous, as well as a field guide on the Kwami

Through out history the Guardians would study the miraculous... and some rogue guardians would cause issues which resulted in new rules regarding the miraculous.

The Great being while resting, still surveys the universe by looking through the eyes of his children (the Kwami).

Hi, sorry let me take this opportunity to rave about my recent danmei fave again using this post and that's The Approach by larivegauche, no surprise there. I've only been obsessed with it for the last few months. Maybe I'll move on at some point.

Anyway, I'm actually on board with any BL genre to be honest. Copout answer perhaps, my real answer for now is that my tastes have shifted towards contemporary relationship-driven BL but who knows if that will change in the future. In the end what matters is that it's good. Which again brings me to The Approach.

I think why it's embedded itself into my brain space is because it just hits on all fronts; good writing, good story and characters, good romance, good smut etc. It's rare to find a piece of media that is so holistically good, especially nowadays.

A good way for me to illustrate this is the audio drama soundtrack. This BL has a banger soundtrack and I compiled it all on Spotify. If you just listen to some of the tracks you'll see how much of a roller coaster ride it takes you on. I laughed, I cried, I felt for the characters, was scared for them. Some highlights:

This track was played during the trailer and one of the spicier scenes ahem. I don't know, the production crew's taste in music vibes with mine so well.

This is played during the moment one of our leads realises his feelings for the ML and re-examines their relationship.

One of my favourite tracks. In my opinion it does such a good job of representing the main couple's relationship, makes you think "What a moving and steadfast love". I like that the song is titled "Patience".

This was played during one of the climactic scenes. So tense.

And so many more, not to mention the amazing original songs too, both of which have been sung by the main voice actors. Seriously, a feast for the ears, to go with an amazing story.

☁️ Anniversary Weekend ☁️

Took me a week to share this bec it was a really busy work week (lol but when was it ever not??)

I literally started the day feeling tampo bec that's the kind of person I am 😭 jk so I rushed all my workload the day before, like I sat in front of my laptop and worked my ass off for around XX hours straight just so I can go to his place earlier than usual in the morning only for him to tell me na 'wag munang pumunta nang maaga and na magpahinga muna like?? I was so confused why (it felt like) he's not excited to see me on our Anniversary. I was kinda mad so I did what he told me, I just slept until noon. I even thought about not going there anymore haha.

🍲 Fast forward, I still went to his place of course bec how can I ever resist this guy? We did the usual lambingan like we always do lol. The kilig when he told me he cooked sinigang (my favorite!!!) and we ate lunch together. As an only daughter of two Kapampangans, pasok sa god-tier sinigang standards ko 'yung luto n'ya haha.

🌻 After our lunch, he went to the balcony for few seconds and I wondered what he was doing there. 'Nung pumasok s'ya ulit, I was shocked and kilig (and kilig again!!!) when I saw him holding a bouquet of sunflowers like my heart literally skipped a beat kasi I have zero expectation na he will surprise me with flowers (kahit lagi naman n'ya talaga akong binibigyan no'n lol).

Side story: sunflower is my favorite and it was actually one of the reasons why I said yes to him (after half a year) 'nung nililigawan n'ya pa lang ako.

Sub-side story: feeling maganda ako sa part na I let him wait six months for my answer when he asked me to be his girlfriend hahahahaha. No assurance, no commitment, nothing. We just did things together that made us happy during those six months. He was sooo patient (and loyal kahit walang label lol) to me. Kaya hindi ko rin ma-gets why I doubt his loyalty ngayong we're in a longterm relationship na, eh nanliligaw pa nga lang s'ya, sobrang loyal na n'ya hahahahah.

Another side story: the reason why ayaw n'ya akong papuntahin nang maaga sa condo is dahil nasa Dangwa s'ya nung morning buying flowers huhu. I felt guilty because I sent cold replies pa sakanya kasi I thought ayaw n'ya ako makita. :((

🍫🎂🍺 I was still in cloud 9 with the flower surprise when he opened the ref para ipakita sa'kin yung cake, chocolates (na s'ya rin kumain nung half hahaha) anddddd my favorite beer like omg??? this guy really knows me too damn well. Funny part is earlier 'nung sinabi n'ya sa'king nag-grocery s'ya before namin magkita, biniro ko pa s'ya bakit hindi n'ya ako binilhan ng beer and he just replied "luh" hahahah.

���🍽 At around 4PM, we went to Las Casas na. An hour late from our reservation so half-panic na kami. Luckily, they weren't that strict with reservation schedule. The place was really good, somewhere na we'd go back to in the future. After the nakakapagod na pag-iikot (and picture-taking haha), we opted to dine outside kasi mas gusto ko 'yung vibe. It was a decent candlelit dinner and it felt really good to date the love of my life under the skies kahit walang stars that night hay haha. A violinist also performed live and it made the place feel more romantic and I swear I'd really kiss him right there if there weren't like a hundred people around us HAHAHAH.

Side story #3: original anniversary plan was a 4D3N vacay in Bora but alert level 3 happened so we had to reschedule. I suggested a simple date in his condo as an alt, we can cook dinner and I'll just bring scented candles to make it intimate and somehow special. I'm so glad he made efforts to find a better place where we can celebrate. And it had scented candles too. 🤍

🎮 We stayed for roughly an hour sa lobby ng condo to do our usual mobile game duo thing. Since I was so shy na wala man lang akong anything for him, I just FT-d him pambili ng ML skins 😭 I hate myself for that pero we agreed kasi initially na we won't buy gifts or anything for each other, silly of me to actually believe na he won't surprise me with anything na para bang hindi ko alam how his mind works :(( Anyway, he got an epic, special and few other ML skins naman so pwede na rin HAHAHAHA. Nakakatawa pa kasi 'yung epic and special skin na nakuha n'ya, ako 'yung may main sa mga heroes na 'yun hahaha. He got the epic Mecha Baby Nana skin and Angela's Summer Vibes. Sabi ko nga, mag-free tutorial ako for him lol charity ko na as a Pasig number XX Nana, charot sa Barangay ko lang kaya mag-top HAHAHA *sorry ito lang aq intensifies*. And mas malakas s'ya sa'kin, s'ya yung nagt-top talaga sa Pasig HAHAHAHA CHZ KATURN-ON, FVCK HAHA JK. Anyway we played MCL, 'di kami nagu-usap gaano after the game kasi sobrang badtrip kami sa isang ka-team na nag-throw ng laro hahahahaha sayang 'yung tickets namin ugh kaya understandable naman 'yung shift sa mood.

💤 We went back to the unit na and... syempre skip ko na itong part na ito 😛 Kasi natulog lang naman kami 😏

🍕 We took home the tirang pizza from last night and that's what we had for breakfast. Half pa nung 12-inch na in-order namin haha sobrang sulit. Hindi namin na-enjoy nung una kasi it's quite salty then nung ininit na the next morning, it tasted 99% better haha *chef's kiss: painit edition*

🍺 I took the lazy Sunday opportunity to drink 2 bots of beer (by myself because bb is not drinking alcohol) pero he drank juice naman so basically he still "drank with me" 🙄🤣 I was drinking beside the balcony and the huuuge Jollibee sign was like literally next to my face so I told him I was craving chickenjoy pero he just shushed me huhu. We sang along OPM songs for hours until we unconsciously fell asleep together.

💤 I vaguely remember this but while I was sleeping, he whispered (with a really soft and low voice) na he's going out to buy us dinner. I really wanted to come with him but I was too sleepy to get up.

🍗 When I woke up, I saw him setting up the table for our dinner and I asked myself what have I done to deserve this man. 🥺 And it actually doubled the kilig when I saw the jollibee paperbag looool he really bought me the chickenjoy I was craving earlier 😭

Last side story: Jollibee is really special to us. It was the first meal he bought me when we first met. Around 4 years ago, 2018 to be exact, nagd-dorm ako near UE and s'ya naman, nags-stay sa condo near Welcome Rotonda. We were just a jeep away from each other so when I told him I don't want to eat dinner kasi tinatamad ako, he literally went to my dorm at 1AM with a Jollibee supermeal 😭 I was sooo shy that time and even told him I'm gonna pay for the meal and delivery hahahahaha 😭 Umambon pa nung pauwi s'ya so medyo nakakahiya talaga (and nakakakilig 'yung efforts n'ya hehe) given na he doesn't even know me personally yet that time.

tutorial: how to make gifs (part 2)

Before proceeding, please check out the first part here. In this part, I’ll explain how to do gif colouring, how to add subtitles and how to save gifs.

PART A: GIF COLOURING

Gif colouring is done using the adjustment layers. If you haven’t enabled this option, you can do so by selecting Window > Adjustments. A panel of sixteen (16) adjustment layers will appear, as shown below:

Now, there’s no hard and fast rules when it comes to colouring. My best advice is to experiment until you find your own colouring style. When I make gifs, the way I make gifs don’t change but the way I colour gifs will periodically change.

This is one of my earliest gifsets, made in 2015.

This is my latest gifset, made in 2019.

As you can see, I didn’t start off knowing how to colour gifs. Back then, I wasn’t concerned in making my gifs look nice, I wanted to make gifs because people don’t make the gifs that I want to see.

Despite my constant complaints of the reds, the blues and the yellows of the show, I don’t hate the colours themselves, I just hate the fact the colours don’t pop. Take a look at the scene below:

It looks fine after sharpening and blurring filters, but personally, the original colours look dull. 🤷‍♀

Step 1: Curves

I create two markers, then pull one downwards and one upwards, careful not to stray too far from the original line. If the scene is dark and you want to make it brighter, pull the marker that’s usually going downwards, upwards, but again, don’t stray too far from the original line.

Besides ‘Curves’, you can also use ‘Brightness/Contrast’ and ‘Levels’.

Step 2: Selective Color

The bulk of your colouring takes place here. There are nine (9) colours: Reds, Yellows, Greens, Cyans, Blues, Magentas, Whites, Neutrals and Blacks. For this scene, I adjusted seven colours, minus Neutrals and Blacks.

(I don’t recommend messing around with Neutrals and Blacks since they usually affect the entire scene instead of specific areas. If you are like me who want the black to be true black, you are better off adding another ‘Curves’ layer.)

I don’t have any specific method besides -- adjust the sliders until you see the colours that you want. In fact, if the scene is stubborn, you may use multiple adjustment layers. Below is how I remove the blues from Marinette’s hair:

Step 3: Gradient Map

I wish I know how to explain why I use Gradient Map besides it being part of my finishing touches. For this adjustment layer, it is set to Soft Light at 75% opacity. For the scene above, I used this gradient:

My usual choice is this one:

My second usual choice is this one:

#383332 | #6f5b55

Do you have to make your own gradients? No. For my usual gradients, it’s actually from the gradient pack here. I encourage you to explore resources websites because they are helpful, besides, they are mostly free!

Q1: Do you need more adjustment layers?

For daytime scenes like the above, I usually maintain three adjustment layers. However, you may encounter scenes where one colour dominates the entire scene or the colours look out of place or the lighting is completely wack.

In order to fix the colours, I use either Hue/Saturation or Color Balance or Photo Filter, usually before, but may also be after, the three layers. It may or may not work successfully but at least it reduces your frustration at fixing the colours.

I will have mini tutorials covering how to colour these specific scenes later.

Q2: Do you have to use the same adjustment layers as mine?

Again, no.

As I said before, you need to experiment until you find your own colouring style. I may use 3 layers, you may use 6 layers, someone else may use 9 layers. In fact, I may use 6 layers for a specific colouring and then 9 layers for another.

It’s best to study the scenes and figure out what colours you want to bring out, what colours you want to eliminate, and what colour theme you want to present.

Q3: Can I use others’ colouring psd instead?

You can, but consider if it’s better if you learn how to colour from scratch, especially if the series in question has inconsistent colours, such as ML.

However, that doesn’t mean you aren’t allowed to use colouring psds. If you are making multiple gifs and they have the same theme (e.g. outdoor, daytime, blue skies), it’s easier to just use the same colouring for consistency.

Eventually, once you are used to colouring the series, you may find it easier and faster to colour manually because the results are more or less the same.

PART B: SUBTITLES

Subtitles are great for providing context, but it can be time consuming. I advise starting off with small scenes, then work your way up until you are comfortable with the entire scene.

Step 1: Choose your font

The most important aspect of your font choice is readability, even in small sizes. Common examples of fonts used for gif subtitles are Arial, Calibri and Myriad Pro. All are set to 'bold italic’.

Step 2: Add the text

Drag your cursor to the right to create a text box, then type out the text. For 268px gifs, the font size is 14 pt. For 540px gifs, the font size is 18 pt. The font colour by default is black, so change it to white.

As you can see, the text is unclear. Before we solve that problem, we need to make the text box centered. Select the ‘Move Tool’ and choose the icon below:

The text box will be centered, but the text is too far from the bottom. Using your keyboard, press the down arrow key until you reach the bottom, but leave some space between the text and the bottom.

Or, you can position the text box close to the bottom then make it centered. Either way, it should look like the above.

Step 3: Blending options

Right-click on your text layer and select ‘Blending Options’.

Select ‘Stroke’ and copy the settings.

Select ‘Drop Shadow’ and copy the settings.

Press OK.

Your text should look like the above. Your text layers should look like below:

Step 4: Timeline

If you have multiple scenes in the gif but only one scene has subtitles, you need to adjust the timing so the subtitles don’t appear in the other scene. Use the slider to find the scene, then drag the text layer so it aligns with the scene.

Let’s say the scene is short and you want to find the exact frame but the timeline is short, use the icons below to shrink or expand the timeline:

The left is to make the timeline shorter, the right is to make the timeline longer.

PART C: SAVING GIFS

You’re almost done!

Use the markers to determine the scene you want to save, then select File > Save for Web (or Alt+Shift+Ctrl+S) and these are my gif save settings:

Voila, this is how a gif with subtitles look like!
