Kung Lao x Johnny Cage

Tw: Slightly angst, fluff, confession

Tired, was a word to describe how Kung Lao was with everything. These past few weeks and even months have been slowly draining him from the inside and out from the training to the long missions. From his once slightly chubby figure, he began to see himself loosing weight that even the others might notice, yet he always kept that smirk and ego. It was the one thing that hid his tiredness, but he didn’t know how long it was till he would just break.

He slowly felt the sun hit his tired eyes with obvious circles underneath them. He groaned, his body slowly pulling himself up and carefully allowing for himself to get out of bed and head towards the training room. He put his clothes on, putting his hair into a quick ponytail and placing his hat onto his head. He walked out of his room fairly quickly, just wanting to be at least the first one there, only to be the last person there. “Kung Lao. Thank you for showing up for training, even if you are 20 minutes late.” Liu kang spoke, removing his gaze off of him and beginning his training session. As the time passed, he felt his body slowly and slowly ache and bruise up, struggling but unable to allow his ego to shatter and ask for help. Once the training session finished and it was a lunch break, Kung Lao slowly crept his way to his room. Johnny had been watching Kung Lao for the past few days, catching on to his eating habits, his slight weight loss, and his tiredness.

“Kung Lao, are you in there?” He had asked, teasing a quick eyebrow while in front of his door, knocking twice before hearing a muffled “come in” from the shaolin. Upon hearing this, he felt his heart sink into the bottom pits of his stomach as he closed the door behind him. He saw the amount of clothes scattered on the floor, water bottles underneath the bed, his hat placed on the ground with nothing holding it up, and Lao laid sprawled on the bed with his hair down. “Lao, are you okay?” He quietly questioned, making his way over to his bed. He heard Kung Lao most likely asleep whispering out “Hold me.”

Johnny initially froze for a moment, before carefully lifting up Kung Lao which was fairly easy unfortunately due to his weight loss. He slid into the bed and placed kung lao to the side of him. He saw just how tired he was, and saw how between this Kung Lao and the Kung Lao during training were two different people. “Johnny..I’m sorry you have to see me like this..” The shaolin yawned out, his eyes slowly closing as he felt himself fall asleep. The actor let out a sigh, carefully placing his right hand on Kung Laos face, caressing it ever so slightly. “You don’t have to apologize to me. Don’t apologize for having these negative feelings..” Johnny stated, he was never really the type of guy to help out others but for this situation..he wanted to help him.

The silence was loud, however it was soon broken from Kung Lao slowly waking up and feeling Johnny holding him, and caressing his face. He blushed a deep red before slowly clearing his throat. “I— thank you..Johnny.” He stated, feeling his heart skip a beat at least twice. Johnnys arms unwrapped around his body, but his hand remained on his face. “Kung Lao. Can we talk, please?”

He asked, his fingers leaving the shaolins face. “Fine.” The man simply replied, both sitting up to face each other. “Do you think it’s possible..if we have dinner together in my room? It’s right across the hallway and it’ll be an even quieter environment.” He stated, seeing Kung Lao slowly nod in response. He took his wrist and carefully led him into his room. His room was immaculate with every tidied up, even no dust. “Welcome to my room, it’s pretty basic but it holds up the necessities for yours truly. Now lemme go into my mini fridge and see if there’s anything we can eat as dinner.” He stated, kneeling and looking inside of it. Meanwhile, Kung Lao was sitting on the floor, staring at his hands slightly ache Johnnys touch. They were so soft, clear as day to see Johnny took good care of them. He heard Johnny say “I got some rice from inside of there, it’s still oddly warm from earlier.”

He handed Kung Lao a bowl, watching Kung Lao slightly cringe at food. He felt his smile fall slightly and sat closer to him. “you have to eat Lao, you’ve barely been eating.” He stated, taking his left hand. “Here, I’ll squeeze your hand while you do i—“ “stop treating me like I’m a fucking baby Johnny. Stop treating me as one, stop fucking doing this.” Kung Lao cut him off and bluntly stated to him his true feelings. Johnny stayed quiet and sighed. “Kung Lao. I see you losing weight and how much you’ve been eating less. I’ve seen how tired I want to help you because if I don’t, I won’t get to see your smile for a long time. The one you put up is fake, and I know it is because of how long I’ve had that for. But now, it’s real because I’ve gotten better and I can say that.” He stated with his full honesty. He gently squeezed his hand.

“Lao. I mean all my words when I say, I love your smile. It makes me smile too. I love the way your face turned red earlier when I held you in my arms. I love the way sometimes your ego makes me laugh and the training fights we have. There’s a lot of things I love that you have yet to—“ “I like you, Johnny.” Kung Lao interrupted, his eyes looking up from the ground onto Johnny. “I’ve liked you for months. Not liked, I’ve loved you for months.” He paused, before continuing. “I didn’t mean to yell at you earlier. It’s been a hard last few months for me. Training has made me tired. Food makes me feel gross, especially all the comments people have gave, but you’ve still be there to care.” He stated, slowly taking a bite out of the rice. It was good, a bit cold but it was still good to his standards. He gently smiled a bit. “It’s cold Johnny, I don’t know what you mean when you say it’s still warm.” He chuckled slightly, being interrupted by a warm kiss on his lips. It was soft, sweet even as he leaned into it. It eventually stopped, leaving them both more red than ever. “Is this what I think it means Johnny?” He smirked, tilting his head and glancing at him. Johnny smiled back, leaning his head onto his shoulder. “It means exactly what it means.” They’re boyfriends now. It was sweet, they’re a bit happy, and yeah woohoo

A / N : Johnny and Kung Lao ended up talking with Liu kang about Kung lao’s tiredness. Liu kang is opened to allow less training and more breaks for them earthrealmer groups. Also nobody knows they’re dating because they act like friends who are rivals but behind closed doors they’re so sweet to each other it melts your teeth.

johnny x kenshi x bi han. dont Even begin with me i have so much about these three.

obviously johnny and kenshi have chemistry so we don’t need to go over that whole shebang again in this lesson. johnny x bi han (yet to discover this ship name) is just kind of silly but also i think there is genuine value there. in my hc, lin kuei dad was very pressuring on him and not really a good father (sindel comments that he was a good man and i just think it’s so funny that literally everyone she’s said this about has turned out to be a horrible person). proceed with bi han having a lot of trauma and being terrified of ever being controlled or under someone’s thumb again and afraid of intimacy ect. i like to think he really still loves his brothers and is just really lost about what he wants and in a bad era of his life. he visits them. to me.

like… here’s one tiny snippet of johnny and bi han for me. johnny is so good with Noticing patterns in people, probably the autism, but i digress. bi han the way you flinch every time someone calls your name. but johnny has so many goofy pet names that what does it even matter. still, he can tolerate when one of them says it because… it’s different. “teach me to say my own name in a kinder way” type thing. there is so much more to them in my mind but Look At Them

and then kenshi literally fundamentally understanding bad family and wanting to be away, but also understanding the concept of having a few people you still love and want to protect and improve things for. but kenshi is going about it in a much more healthy way. there is so much here more that i cannot express atm and will get to some day. i think they can find a lot of common ground and also love and also bi han should just be held by guys. and kenshi should be held by guys and johnny should be held by guys. they are a gay polycule now.

thsi was kind of stupid and really brainlessly written because my whole body hurts but i’ll make posts that are better worded and more emotionally deep and important about them later me tired

okay, i got a few adorable ship names from some of my fellow crackshipers here. thank you for your suggestions i just suck at ship names blame my dyslexia 💀 but i love polls so let's see which ones y'all like better 🪭🧊

I've been calling them kithan recently, but some of these are just too perfect to not use omfg

honestly I'll probably be using like three or four of these at the drop of a hat, especially blues klues, that one is genius (@gamerwoman3d you're so funny this one's my favorite)
