So about that dark B1 scene…
I learned something new from reddit today.
Korra, in her own words, “wasn’t the avatar anymore” and she wasn’t at the edge of that cliff to self-reflect. She came pretty close to following her fears all the way down.
Tumblr media
I didn’t catch that on my first watch. Or my second watch. That healing hut was full of her friends and loved ones and not one of them realized how deeply losing three elements had cut into Korra.
Not one…save for the person who didn’t give a fuck whether she was the Avatar or not.
Tumblr media
He followed her. Even when Tenzin told him not to. Even when she yelled at him to go back to his city where he belongs, he followed her.
Because he will always follow her. No matter how crazy things get.
Are we really supposed to sit here and not ship this?? I am not okay.

I apologize in advance for possible grammatical errors. My native language is not English. My text is very very long. I will be glad to like-minded people, because I am so much disappointed with the DLC and I needed to speak out here on my personal blog.
I really wanted to see Bi-Han's redemption arc, but instead I got an aggravation of Bi-Han's gloomy state. I saw Bi-Han accept his new identity in the form of Noob Saibot. There was no change in Bi-Han's mind after what he forcibly experienced (the transformation into Noob Saibot). Everything I saw was a huge disappointment for me, because I adore Bi-Han as a character, and I never wanted to see him as a stupid, clichéd villain, as the writers made him in the DLC. Bi-Han has always been a neutral character with a penchant for atoning for sins, so to speak, if we turn to the MK classics. But I'm still hoping that in future story additions, Liu Kang will still be able to return Bi-Han to his former state by healing him from chaos magic. I haven't given up hope of seeing Bi-Han as Sub-Zero, even if this hope is small and naive. I hope to see Bi-Han's change of mind, his reflection on the past, and credible motivations for his actions.
Now I'd like to write why I don't like Sektor so much.
The shortest answer is: because she's acting stupid. Taking Bi-Han out of the Temple of Elements is like taking a person with a severe traumatic brain injury out of the hospital, thus depriving him of the necessary life-saving treatment. Sektor says to Noob Saibot in one of the Intro Dialogues, „I couldn't leave you locked away in the Temple.“ This sounds just like saying to a sick person, „I couldn't let the doctors treat you, so I took you home, but I have no idea how to cure you myself“. Sektor's ego is enormous!
To me, it all sounds like a dialogue between two people:
She: I'm looking for a cure for your terrible disease, dear.
He: No, honey, I'm not going to be treated. My terrible disease gives me advantages.
She: But the doctor says your terrible disease will kill you!
He: I don't want the doctor to treat me.
She: All right, darling, let it be your way.
And if Sektor thought that Liu Kang had left Bi-Han to rot in the Temple of elements after she personally saw that Liu Kang had healed Bi-Han's mind and said that he would look for a way to heal Bi-Han's body as well, then Sekctor is doubly stupid because she can't assimilate simple information and think logically. Liu Kang himself doesn't know exactly how to heal Bi-Han and how long it will take, so how would Sektor know this in that case? Bi-Han's responses to her words are my main disappointment. He wants to be Noob Saibot when he says in one of the Intro Dialogues, „I do not want Liu Kang to cure me“. Noob Saibot also approved of Sektor's act when she kidnapped him from the Temple of Elements, „You were right to be impatient“.
I don't see any love for Bi-Han in Sektor. I see a blind passion for him. She tells Noob Saibot in one of the Intro Dialogues, „Is it best for you to remain this way?“ These are the words of an obsessed fanatic, not a loving woman. Asking such a question is like asking an alcoholic, „Is it a good thing if you stay an alcoholic?“. Sektor doesn't see the black abyss into which Bi-Han is slowly sinking. She does not save him, but supports the evil in him, thus cultivating the blackness in Bi-Han's soul. After all, Liu Kang tells Noob Saibot, „Continue, Bi-Han, and it will not end well for you“. In this case, Liu Kang is showing concern for Bi-Han's soul, but Sektor is not. Liu Kang continues to believe in Bi-Han and warns him. And Sektor doesn't see the problem because she is blind, she herself is threatened by darkness.
The way Bi-Han doesn't listen to Sektor and roughly rips his hand out of her grasp when she tries to stop him from attacking Liu Kang suggests that her passion for Bi-Han means little to him, because he's not ready to listen to her in moments of intense emotional upheaval. He's not ready to stop and give up on some "feverish" action. I think Bi-Han is obsessed with Lin Kuei first and foremost, and Sektor is more of a tool for him to achieve his personal goals than his lover. The only, I emphasize, the only scene that shows some kind of mutual warmth between them, ended up going nowhere. Bi-Han wants to be Noob Saibot, he thinks of his goals first, and Sektor is always ready to support any of Bi-Han's ideas. What gives us this moment of warmth when they touched foreheads for a couple of seconds? Absolutely nothing.
I really dislike Sektor because she helps Bi-Han perish, and doesn't slow down his fall into darkness. I don't see why I can sympathize with her. But Sektor is not a good character either, it was not worth waiting for noble deeds from her. From the Intro Dialogues between Scorpion and Geras, as well as between Smoke and Geras, there is a hint that Tomas will die in the future and will be forcibly turned into a cyborg. Who's going to do this to him? I have no doubt that Sektor will do it. How can such a person help Bi-Han see any light? It's impossible. They are mutually corrupting each other.
From the Intro Dialogues we already know that she has made mechanical monsters and is eager to try them out. And the cybernetic armor is just the beginning, and most likely we're in for a classic violent cybernization ahead. How can Sektor help Bi-Han if she's blinded by her own ego? Sektor is not Harumi. My deep conviction is that Bi-Han should have a woman who truly loves him and is wise, such as Harumi, but not the obsessed Sektor, whose love for Bi-Han blinds her, as Cyrax correctly pointed out. Sektor doesn't confront the darkness within Bi-Han because Sektor is blind in her fanaticism towards Bi-Han. She doesn't see this darkness because she is most likely filled with the exact same darkness herself.
Love is not only support, sometimes it is a strong confrontation in the name of saving a life.
I believe that Bi-Han needs a woman with a light within. He needs someone who is the opposite of darkness, then his eyes might be able to see at least some path that could be called different than the one he's already on. Yes, at first Sektor is obsessed with healing Bi-Han, but at the same time, she doesn't want to give Noob Saibot to Liu Kang. She ended up agreeing completely that Noob Saibot himself didn't want healing for himself. Sektor, girl, is there anything you can say against him? For his own good! His soul and life in a normal body and in a normal state is at stake. Metaphorically speaking, Sektor can't sober up Bi-Han because she's drunk herself.
And all of this is because neither Bi-Han nor Sektor see Noob Saibot's condition as something bad. Yes, I'd like to see a woman save Bi-Han from the darkness, rather than going crazy with him, sinking deeper and deeper into that darkness. Bi-Han could have been a neutral character who could be understood, condemned and justified at the same time, but in the end he became a clichéd villain with boring motivation. A villain without a ray of light within him is dull, boring and uninteresting. A hero without islands of inner darkness is just as boring and uninteresting. But that's exactly what they made Bi-Han in the DLC — a boring and uninteresting villain. At least some hope is given to me by dialogues between Noob Saibot and Bi-Han, in which Bi-Han clearly doesn't accept Noob and is hostile to him.
The second bitter disappointment that befell me was in regards to Kuai Liang. He is shown to be a disgusting person, he is shown to be a hypocrite in this DLC. All the things that Kuai Liang condemned his brother for, now he does himself, such as reveling in power over another, weaker one (poor Cyrax). It is already known from the Intro Dialogue between Cyrax and Noob Saibot that Kuai Liang had a romantic past with Cyrax. Kuai Liang did a doubly despicable thing when he silently disappeared from Lin Kuei and then married another woman. How could he silently disappear without saying anything to his former lover, whom he knows Bi-Han will definitely deceive? And after that, he dares to condemn Cyrax and is even ready to behead her with a katana? Kuai Liang doesn't notice his own sins, but is sure to denounce others. Yes, he had every right to be angry, but still he is the second rightful heir in Lin Kuei, and he didn't do anything when he could have influenced the situation in Lin Kuei, at the very least he could have told everyone about what happened between him and Bi-Han, thus denying Bi-Han the opportunity to lie to his warriors in the future.
Cyrax is too submissive to Kuai Liang. She has every moral right to throw all of Kuai Liang's grievances in his face. She tried to do that, but she gave up very quickly, I'd say she shut up in front of Kuai Liang. I don't understand how she could ask to join his clan after treating her like that? She saved his life, that alone should have been enough to make Kuai Liang turn on his brain. Cyrax had fully redeemed herself from him! But he was being terribly ungrateful and arrogant. Watching Cyrax's self-deprecation in front of a man who wasn't worthy of such submission was very unpleasant to me. Kuai Liang is not a counterbalance to Bi-Han, he is the other side of the same grim coin. Bi-Han and Kuai Liang are worthy of each other.
But in the Kuai Liang/Harumi pair, there is a voice of reason in the person of Harumi, and Kuai Liang is still able to listen to both Liu Kang and Harumi. And there is no voice of reason in the Bi-Han/Sektor pair. Bi-Han doesn't listen to Sektor in critical situations, for the most part she's his tool and fanatical assistant, perhaps a loyal and constant servant. I don't see a strong mutual affection on Bi-Han's part for Sektor. It seems to me that he's more of someone who feels good about being loved and he allows her to love him. Sektor is willing to accept anything from Bi-Han and she can't confront his inner darkness, because Sektor doesn't see a problem with Bi-Han's soul. So spiritually they will both die sooner or later if they don't listen to Liu Kang. A confrontation between them after what Bi-Han went through would have seemed more logical and interesting.
Bi-Han in this DLC turned out to be an absolutely empty character, in which I saw nothing but a thirst for power, fame, strength, dominance and control. And all these things are defamation of the character by the writers, because we have the original Bi-Han, who has never been so empty and one-sided. Even in the first part of Mortal Kombat 1, Bi-Han was an interesting and deep character, despite the widespread hatred against him. There are plenty of awesome and well-reasoned analyses of his personality here on Tumblr that just prove it. In the "Khaos Reigns", Bi-Han is simply buried as a character. There is simply no conflict in the story of the fall of his personality.
Dude, you've been turned into a black monster against your will. Your mind is being healed, you wake up in this new body, and what? No shock? I'd understand if Bi-Han had asked Havik himself to make him Noob Saibot, but the transformation was done through torture and violence. How could Bi-Han end up being okay with who he has become? I just don't believe it.
P.S. I still adore Bi-Han. Even this DLC won't make me stop loving him. Almost 30 years of my life in the fandom can't be crossed out by this terrible DLC and imposing romance on players, for which Cyrax and Sektor changed their gender. I wish Liu Kang had somehow miraculously gotten his Kitana back if the writers wanted to add romance so badly. I felt like I was reading a bad fanfic rather than watching the official DLC. That's how this DLC will remain for me — a bad fanfic about my favorite characters. I can't and won't accept this DLC as canon. Thank God, no one can take that right away from me.
P.P.S. The screen time of Tomas, who I also love dearly, was criminally small, and after all, he's one of the three brothers, not some NPC...

Hello ! I adore your LMK AU‘s and your writing style. The stories are so captivating and make me excited for the next chapter.
I wanted to ask what your favorite AUs are :) I know you have great taste and I would be grateful if you could share some LMK au/comic/fanfic recommendations with us :))))
Hello! Oh my gosh thank you so so much! That makes me so happy to hear ;-; Thank you!
I got a lot of favorites out there, let me tell you :3 Alright alright~
AU'S:
The King and his Cub By: @theweepingegg : This au is so cute and I love little MK with his Papa~ It's adorable and the humor just has me rolling! Plus the wholesome Father and Son moments + an uncle Macaque?? It's amazing! Literally just melts my heart with every new update.
Cursed Au By: @winterpower98: This Au consumed my life and continues to do so. The drama, the redemption, the growing bond between Wukong Macaque and MK?? I love it alll~ The whole universal set up of this growing Au is so full and wonderful.
Literally, ANY AU that is made by @journey-to-the-au ! This artist just- STEALS all of my attention. They got a lot of different Au's, and so many amazing ideas. There is action and romance and betrayal and platonic love that is so wholesome and sweet and AHHHHH. Taking a long tour through their entire tumblr page is 100% WORTH IT
Very similarly, anything by @rebeltigera! They also have so many different au's that are all AMAZING. Something about their style also- ahhhhh <3 It's so good. I definitely suggest taking a dive into their tumblr too. Their Macaque is honestly probably my favorite version of Macaque!
Forged Faith by @swagginmun Gosh the anxiety but also the pure adoration I have for this particular Au?? Definitely follows a more canon storyline but has one HECK OF A TWIST. The expressions that are done are amazing and I really really can't wait for this one to continue as its current chapter just ended on something INTENSE.
Fan Comics!
Eclipsed Apprentice by @journeytomonkiekid : I've been following this one for a while. I LOVE IT. There are so many talented people in the LMK community and this comic takes an interesting turn to the canon of LMK. Has some great Oc's and the storyline has me hooked! Lots of drama, and redemption, and so far the character growth is *Chef kiss*
Even Rainfall Has Shadows By @linklefr : Another fancomic that takes it's own path and turn from the LMK canon. Oc's are so cute and I just wanna squeeze them! It's really growing to be its own thing! It's got a lot of talk about self-worth and toxic habits and overall overcoming those that the characters need to grow from, and I can't wait to see where it goes!
FANFICS: (I have way too many. My gosh. And honestly if folks have more recommendations, please put them in the comments! Or if you have a story you wrote yourself I would love to read it!) I would mark their Tumblr creators if I knew them, but I don't know all of them ;-; So I'll put the link to the fanfic instead
SunBreak : First LMK fanfic I ever read. It is the rabbit hole that dropped me into loving Macaque and parent Macaque to be more precise~ Goes way off canon and I'm LOVING IT
There May be no such thing as eternity: Possed Wukong- I cannot explain how much possessed Wukong still reaching out to the Macaque and the gang just makes my brain flip~
A Garden Across Our Collar Bone: THIS. Ahhhh- Just bury me with this fanfic in my hand. MK X Red Son and ahhh- Also, ANYTHING this author (PittiedPeaches) writes is GOLD.
Of Blood and Bones: A big inspiration to me and their story is SO GOOD. The angst but also fluff that is slipped in? It's an amazingly sad but wonderful read. And I really love the world-building
Peach Blossoms: I'm a sucker for any Hanahaki disease kind of story and this is everything I wanted and more. This was soooo good and it flowed really well.
Love Team: Ooooh boy this story took me on a roller coaster ride. MY GOSH I never knew what to expect and it always had me on the edge of my seat~
Is this A Monkey-Thing or Dad-Thing?: Any Dad wukong focused fic will just catch my feet and trip me into the pit of the story. Every time. This one is so cute~
Kiss Your Knuckles: This oneshot is soo sooo good! And also horribly tragic. Gosh it just destroyed me! I definitely suggest it!
-Okay this thing is getting long and I'm not even close to saying all the fanfics and such I have read XD There are so many good fanfics out there my gosh. If you have more than you think are amazing please put them in the comments!

The science gals! Not sure whether I want them to end up romantic or platonic yet, but either way, the vibes are there. Honestly, I just really adore drawing Nyda's piercings, and I tried to make Kaulakri look kinda ill, since she died of a disease.
Hope you enjoy!

Something I used to do to express gender was just listing off random things, titles, and adjectives like it was a shopping list of a sort. So I encourage all to do the same. Here is my gender list;

forever obsessed with the concept of MK having platonic hanahaki for Wukong
specifically with the disease being born from *perceived* unrequited love
like I generally dislike hanahaki but something about this gives me brain worms
Ngl hanahaki that could one: be involved with platonic love and two: be caused by the victims mere perception are both things that appeal greatly to me.

OC Vs Cockroach
So, your OC finds a cockroach in their home! what do they do? what is their fear response on a scale of one (doesn't care) to ten (panic attack)?
tagged by @mk-writes-stuff and @indecentpause
Now, you have to understand that in Project Heartless, animals kind of... barely exist? It's an apocalyptic wasteland and common pets are gone, and most animals they know of are just the ones that are slaughtered for food. Let us see how they react to a small alien-looking insect they have never seen before! :D
Rain - 2/10. Faintly disturbed, and would avoid, but won't do anything else.
Will - 9/10. He will immediately FREEZE and go what the fuck
Danger - 11/10 Especially if the cockroach tries to touch him?? He will straight up scream and pull out his gun and shoot it. Never mind that he can teleport, all higher thinking forgotten, brain empty
Serenity - 0/10. She would be fascinated by this new creature. Maybe it meant the ecosystem was improving?
Simonne - 0/10. Would be right up there with Serenity trying to study this thing
Maverick - 0/10. But is now cursing his existence because Danger is putting holes in their apartment and by heavens he didn't want to do paperwork to get it fixed
Sky - 8/10. Screaming, crying, but not completely terrified. She would be hiding behind Briar, making them kill that weird alien thing!
Briar - 0/10. Would sigh as they grabs their slippers and start pounding this thing into the floor.
Extra: Incorrect Quotes
Rain: What is that?
Briar: I don't know.
Danger: Is it gone? Holy shit is it gone?
Simonne: I think that's what was called a cockroach. I've read it before. Angel City has terminated them as much as they could, because it brings diseases. They say if there is one, there must be more.
Sky: There is more??
Danger: *wildly points his gun everywhere*
Maverick: Fantastic.
Serenity: *glances worriedly at her brother* Will... are you alright?
Will: *still frozen*
I'm tagging @goodluckclove and @crow-with-a-typewriter!

Intro: What is Project MKUltra
This is an excerpt from an article officially published by wikipedia, so the issue is not something hidden or a "conspiracy" but a real human experiment. ORIGIN Project MKUltra (or MK-Ultra) was an illegal human experimentation program designed and undertaken by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and intended to develop procedures and identify drugs that could be used during interrogations to weaken people and force confessions through brainwashing and psychological torture. It began in 1953 and was halted in 1973. MKUltra used numerous methods to manipulate its subjects' mental states and brain functions, such as the covert administration of high doses of psychoactive drugs (especially LSD) and other chemicals without the subjects' consent, electroshocks, hypnosis, sensory deprivation, isolation, verbal and sexual abuse, and other forms of torture. It began in 1953 and, supposedly was halted in 1973 but reality tells otherwise. According to Stephen Kinzer, the CIA project "was a continuation of the work begun in WWII-era Japanese facilities and Nazi concentration camps on subduing and controlling human minds." Kinzer writes that MKUltra's use of mescaline on unwitting subjects was a practice that Nazi doctors had begun in the camps at Auschwitz and Dachau. Kinzer gives evidence of the continuation of a Nazi agenda, citing the CIA's secret recruitment of Nazi torturers and vivisectionists to continue experimenting on thousands of subjects, and Nazis were brought to Fort Detrick, Maryland, to instruct CIA officers on the lethal uses of sarin gas. The Soviet Union also contributed greatly to the motivation for this project; according to CIA director Allen Dulles, fear of "Soviet brain perversion techniques" was palpable. The CIA wanted to verse itself in this type of "mind control" to be able to recognize and use it in case of a conflict with the USSR. Fear of the enemy ran rampant among Americans, especially upon the sharp increase in PTSD in Korean prisoners of war. The damage inflicted on these survivors was so severe that mind control was thought to be the culprit. SCALE OF THE PROJECT One 1955 MKUltra document gives an indication of the size and range of the effort. It refers to the study of an assortment of mind-altering substances described as follows: Substances which will promote illogical thinking and impulsiveness to the point where the recipient would be discredited in public. Substances which increase the efficiency of mentation and perception. Materials which will prevent or counteract the intoxicating effect of alcohol. Materials which will promote the intoxicating effect of alcohol. Materials which will produce the signs and symptoms of recognized diseases in a reversible way so they may be used for malingering, etc. Materials which will render the induction of hypnosis easier or otherwise enhance its usefulness. Substances which will enhance the ability of individuals to withstand privation, torture, and coercion during interrogation and so-called "brain-washing". Materials and physical methods which will produce amnesia for events preceding and during their use. Physical methods of producing shock and confusion over extended periods of time and capable of surreptitious use. Substances which produce physical disablement such as paralysis of the legs, acute anemia, etc. Substances which will produce "pure" euphoria with no subsequent let-down. Substances which alter personality structure in such a way the tendency of the recipient to become dependent upon another person is enhanced. A material which will cause mental confusion of such a type the individual under its influence will find it difficult to maintain a fabrication under questioning. Substances which will lower the ambition and general working efficiency of men when administered in undetectable amounts. Substances which promote weakness or distortion of the eyesight or hearing faculties, preferably without permanent effects. A knockout pill which can be surreptitiously administered in drinks, food, cigarettes, as an aerosol, etc., which will be safe to use, provide a maximum of amnesia, and be suitable for use by agent types on an ad hoc basis. A material which can be surreptitiously administered by the above routes and which in very small amounts will make it impossible for a person to perform physical activity. EXPERIMENTS ON AMERICANS
CIA documents suggest that they investigated "chemical, biological, and radiological" methods of mind control as part of MKUltra. They spent an estimated $10 million or more, roughly $87.5 million adjusted for inflation. DRUGS Early CIA efforts focused on LSD-25, which later came to dominate many of MKUltra's programs. Another technique investigated was the intravenous administration of a barbiturate into one arm and an amphetamine into the other.[62] The barbiturates were released into the person first, and as soon as the person began to fall asleep, the amphetamines were released. Other experiments involved heroin, morphine, temazepam (used under code name MKSEARCH), mescaline, psilocybin, scopolamine, alcohol and sodium pentothal. HIPNOSIS Declassified MKUltra documents indicate they studied hypnosis in the early 1950s. Experimental goals included creating "hypnotically induced anxieties", "hypnotically increasing ability to learn and recall complex written matter", studying hypnosis and polygraph examinations, "hypnotically increasing ability to observe and recall complex arrangements of physical objects", and studying "relationship of personality to susceptibility to hypnosis". They conducted experiments with drug-induced hypnosis and with anterograde and retrograde amnesia while under the influence of such drugs. SECRET DETENTION CAMPS In areas under American control in the early 1950s in Europe and East Asia, mostly Japan, Germany and the Philippines, the CIA created secret detention centers so that the U.S. could avoid criminal prosecution. The CIA captured people suspected of being enemy agents and other people it deemed "expendable" (which means that they could kill the prisoners without any explanation) to undertake various types of torture and human experimentation on them. The prisoners were interrogated while being administered psychoactive drugs, electroshocked and subjected to extremes of temperature, sensory isolation and the like to develop a better understanding of how to destroy and to control human minds. Final Note We consider this introductory article to be of considerable length. We will continue with more details shortly. We accept constructive comments.
Profanity, discrediting, false accusations, etc. they will be deleted.
Free expression consists in respecting the thought of others, not in censoring just because you don’t like them.

It's been 10 whole years of Banana Myles!
10 years ago today, I made the original Banana Myles post and from there - Everything went bananas!
It’s been a decade of banana mischief. Though it wasn’t my intention at all…
As you can see, the first post was all about Myles and Crohn’s Disease and bananas. Quite innocent.
But then people were liking it and reblogging it, and the notifications I kept getting were titled “Banana Myles” and the phrase was embedded so deeply in my brain, that the next morning this happened. And still, I actually thought nothing of it.
Yet, at the evening of Jan 1st, something awful happened to me. My mother passed away after 3 months of sudden sickness and I was mess.
Anyhow, I was still getting the “Banana Myles” notifications and by chance, there were banana related posts appearing on my dash in the next few days, and it was amusing me, so I started reblogging them with a “Banana Myles” reference, and it seemed I wasn’t the only one amused by it. because people were liking and reblogging and commenting… So after a little while I went fully bananas… And from then on, it just turned into a giant snowball, and in the next few months I was infecting a great portion of my followers and friends (Not only on tumblr), and then even people who barely knew me! And as the Banana Myles bug was spreading, it kinda turned into an AB nation/MK fandom epidemic… Which to this day I’m not sure whether it’s a thing I should be really proud of or if I should feel totally ashamed. LOL
I might be blowing his banana addiction thing a little out of proportions (Or not so much. It’s all true I tell you. All true! LOL)… But it’s fun. And it does have a base in reality.
So, thank you all for not only putting up with me and my quirky ways, but also really liking it.
Don’t forget to take a look at the Adventures of Ozzy and Banana Myles, and make sure to send Myles a banana!
Here's to the post that launched too many stupid Banana Myles memes, such as these (A very small sample...):

Notes on Historical Thaumaturgy: The Neural Lash, or, Ooh, Girl, Shock Me Like an Electric Eel
The neural lash is crude and barbaric, and I say that as someone who once spent a considerable amount of time chopping off dead men’s hands to use as candles. I’m not an expert on it, because it’s one of those situations where you can’t think too hard about the details without manifesting the damn thing; when it comes to magic, the map is often the same thing as the territory. But what I do know is bad enough.
The big issue is this: The thoughts of sentient beings are a powerful tool in ritual sorcery. Death is the big one; the reason all those hoary rites in ancient tomes call for mass human sacrifice is because the Old Masters didn’t know the first damn thing about the mathematical underpinnings of their art. Today you could pull the same stunts off with some decent code and two cc’s of mouse blood, but absent the efficiency of modern Computational Demonology, the raw entropic power unleashed by destroying a sentient mind will brute-force the process just fine. Hence why we’re still trying to keep the nitty-gritty details of thaumaturgy under wraps in case some script kiddie tries to summon Yog-Sothoth from his home PC, though after 2014 that battle is pretty much lost.
But it doesn’t always have to be death. Fear has a power to it too, as do oaths, and the breaking of taboos. And so does pain.
Pain is how the neural lash functions. The macro is simplistic, and requires very little effort on the user’s part; a thin thread of thaumaturgic energy that in the hands of a skilled user is almost undetectable.
The cruel elegance of the lash is how it affects the body of the target. That tiny initial strike inflames the victim’s nerves in such a way that the pain produces more power – which is harvested by the spell’s structure to cause more pain. Which invokes more power, which produces more pain, which…well, you get the picture. A small initial lash can liberate exponentially greater amounts of energy from the victim’s body, meaning that once you’ve learned the trick it isn’t difficult, it isn’t taxing, and as far as doing magic with a Mk.1 brain can ever be, it’s safe. A trained practitioner can do anything from drop you to the ground like you’ve been tazed to rending your body asunder with sheer liquid agony, or turning your brain into a pain-powered beacon for the Feeders from beyond.
If you’re thinking that sounds like a perpetual motion machine that runs on pure sadism, congratulations! That’s what I thought too, back when I was still young and wet behind the ears. But it’s really more of a positive feedback loop. Something similar happens in the nastier strains of flu, not the ones that have you calling in sick for a week but the ones that get names, and chapters in  the history books.
See, when the body detects infection it uses chemical messengers, cytokines, to recruit immune cells to fight the foreign invader. Many disease symptoms are actually caused by your own body’s efforts to help you; like fevers to burn out the infection inside you, or mucus to trap anything else that might be trying to get in. But sometimes things go too far: The immune cells call for back up and release more cytokines, the cytokines summon more immune cells, the immune cells release yet more cytokines…and you end up drowning to death in your own snot.
The neural lash is just as lethal, and as far as I’m concerned, it’s just as disgusting.
What gets me most of all is that it’s just so pointless. There’s no need for it in the modern day. A tool can tell you a lot about the situation that gave rise to it; if you have a lot of nails, for instance, you’re going to make a hammer. So what is the lash?
The lash is simple, fast, easy, extremely good at neutralising unwarded opponents, and an active affront to the idea of ethical warfare. It is not, however, that great at taking down another practitioner; the entire point is that the initial strike can be very weak, since it sets off the enemy’s own nerves like a bomb. Even the old personal wards they’ve been retiring lately could block it; you could up the power, sure, but that takes more effort and requires more risk, more communing with the forces beyond which might decide your brain looks good with ketchup. And that largely defeats the entire point.
Now, if you’re a barely-trained battle thaumaturge in the days before we could mass-produce a personal ward for the Laundry's lowest office workers, and you’re expecting to fight in open warfare against both other sorcerers and conventional enemies, possibly without much backup, and most importantly you are well past the point of expecting a long life, let alone caring about ethics in global warfare…This sort of trick looks pretty appealing. Use the quick, easy, relatively low-risk macro to chop through pesky mundane soldiers like a light machinegun and save the actually impressive stuff, the macros that’ll hit you with terminal K-Syndrome two times in five, for the threats that actually deserve it.
But now? A low risk of K-Syndrome still isn’t zero, and it won’t break even a basic ward without dangerous modification. Just taze someone. Or shoot them, if you really have to. I don’t like guns but I’d rather a gun than this. And if you really think you’re going to be facing armed gunmen, god, just call the Artist’s Rifles. This is what they train for.
Whatever you do, just leave this obsolete atrocity in the dustbin of history where it belongs.

okay so BEFORE i make my headcanon post about the omens as a whole, i wanna analyze Geist bc he has influenced my headcanons significantly. note that i’m kinda doing this analysis chronologically as opposed to in order of how information is given in-game. I’d also love to have added more screenshots, but that’s tricky to do atm. I’ll probably edit them in later.
Heavy spoilers ahead just in case anyone who hasn’t finished the game yet stumbled upon this. Without further ado:
So, we’re given very little information about what Geist’s first persona (presumably would be called Geist MK-I) was like, but we do get glimpses from Dianthus and Callistephus in chapter 8, and later Geist’s little support robot in the epilogue. Dianthus and the robot say that he was someone who never gave up on trying to solve the problem of Quietus. Callistephus compares Dianthus’s attempts to embrace hope and emotions to Geist’s former behavior.
He was highly determined, and kept trying even as everyone else around him gave up. I like to think he wasn’t unlike Ein when it comes to that. Although, in Geist’s case, it seems that having more and more demands placed on him as he was left to do the work almost entirely alone took its toll. Dianthus states that he became more and more isolated, until he basically went AWOL. He disconnected from the collective consciousness and left for Lost Gaia.
The White Omens state that he was scary because he seemed so inorganic in comparison so them. I’d imagine he gave them a bit of an uncanny valley feeling, seeing that the Seth and the White Omens also look so similar. Even in the sidequest given by Tweedledee, the Seth do mistake him as one of their own.
Despite this, however, I’d like to believe he had become “corrupted” long before his discoveries on Lost Gaia. With all that been placed on him leading up to his disappearance, why WOULDN’T someone break? Seeing The Horrors™ on Lost Gaia probably just broke him even more. He’s a lot like Aria in that regard. They both had to see the world they came to exist at in shambles. Trauma, both physical and psychological, damages and alters the structure of the brain. This makes me think that what the Omens call “corruption” is actually just an allegory for what they believe to be “altered” behavior resulting from damage in their code.
So then Geist MK-II presumably comes into play. A persona not created by a reboot, but rather a combination of severe corruption and a computer virus (which I will elaborate on shortly). We know that the changes between Geist MK-I and MK-II happened very abruptly, as evident by what Dianthus says. According to her, Geist had become this obsessive, volatile person. His support robot says that he became obsessed with biology and evolution because he was forced to confront his limits as AI. Despite this, we also know that he isn’t utterly unhinged, as he retains his intelligence and goes out of his way to ensure Aria is not harmed when he kidnaps her.
Geist states that the Paradise Journal caused a “bug” in his ethical code. I think what he read definitely corrupted him, but I also believe that Gaia could have hidden a trojan horse virus of sorts within it. This is more easily evident in visual cues seen in Geist’s boss fight, but there’s also a lot I can find in his dialogue by reading between the lines.
In Cres’s character story we’re told exposure to Gaia Dust causes a disease called The Quiet (funnily enough, that’s what Quietus means in English), which kills very quickly. Geist, being a robot, is immune to The Quiet, but he’s not immune computer viruses. So, I’d imagine there’s a connection. Plus, it looks like he’s essentially “coughing up” Gaia Dust when using certain attacks in his boss fight. He, along with Harbinger Aria, also seems to utilize the same red energy that Gaia does.
Tumblr media
Then there’s the dialogue cues. He swaps back and forth between two ideals:
On one hand, he’s trying to feed the Abels to Quietus in hopes that at least SOME of may develop an immunity, and eventually they will evolve that immunity as a species. He also expresses extreme guilt, likely as a result of believing what he must do is a necessary evil, and because realizing his own limitations meant that there was little more he could do. He goes as far as to label himself a sinner for stealing “their ability to reason” and wanting a REASON to keep fighting. He doesn’t WANT to kill the Abels, but it’s a necessary evil in his mind. I believe he also secretly wanted Ein to kill him if it meant there really would be a better way.
On the other hand, he’s expressing the belief that humans HAVE to die—he’s giving them their “proper death.” Gaia kept trying to kill all humans because she believed they wanted to die. With the latter position, it sounds more like Geist is being forced into carrying out her bidding, but with the former, it seems like he’s trying to fight whatever instructions he’s being force-fed by the virus. When he’s finally stopped, he seems to revert back to the first idea. He’s also surprised that Ein and co. managed to stop him, and they’ve proven themselves worthy of trying to find a solution. I also think that he secretly wanted to die if it meant Ein could find another way, but it’s difficult to prove or deny that. Either way, he gives them his memory chip, and tells them to retrace his steps. Then he drops a random Metal Gear reference and dies immediately afterwards.
Geist ultimately gets rebooted as Geist MK-III. It’s clear that his memories were left intact, unlike Sorbus, an Omen in a sidequest. He’s also been reconnected to the collective consciousness, and presumably wiped of the virus he had. He goes straight back to Lost Gaia and appears to Ein and co. again, much to their surprise. Shrika notes he does seem to be behaving like an entirely different person.
Unlike his past two selves, this time he comes across like he’s rushed and perpetually hopeless. He retains a few traits he had before, mainly his stubbornness and ability to plan ahead. However, there’s some things he says and does that really makes me think there’s more going on within him than he’s even aware of. Particularly, the way he treats some of the party members.
Geist appears to project his feelings onto the others, going as far as to berate them over feeling differently than he does. For example, Dianthus tries to say she hopes there’s a better solution than the Paradise Project, and Geist immediately shuts down her point. He just… nails it into her that her mindset is flawed and dangerous. He’s absolutely not very nice about it, but in his eyes, hope and wishful thinking is what got him into this mess, so why should he adopt that mindset? He’s only trying to protect Dianthus and keep her from making the same mistakes he did. He also calls back to his former self’s obsessiveness and states that hope “consumes your thoughts.”
He also complains about adverse situations, such as Callistephus blocking Dianthus’s signal. Overall, he comes across like he’s very, very miserable. I can’t really blame him, because once again, the weight of everything has fallen onto his shoulders. At the final choice which determines which ending you’ll get, Geist’s attempts to pressure Ein sound very desperate.
Yet, if you get the good ending where Ein wins the debate, his attitude completely changes. He goes from a miserable, self-loathing person to someone who’s affectionate and supportive. He also seems to embrace his past a little bit, as he states that the back and forth conversations with the party make him nostalgic. He’s likely referring to a time when his creators were still awake. He also anonymously expresses how much he loves humans in his final Castle Lewis Times article.
Ultimately, Geist is a beautiful representative of many things: the chosen one who falls from grace, the trolley problem, and humanity’s willpower. Yet, his story is horrifically sad beneath the surface and he doesn’t even realize how much it impacts him. His character development throughout the game leaves me with lots of questions, the most important one being: What would happen if he came to realize how awful what happened to him really was? Would he go mad again? Or would he take a page from humanity’s book and seek support?

A Comprehensive Introduction SARMs Pills Explained
Introduction to SARMs Pills Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators (SARMs) are a class of therapeutic compounds that have similar properties to anabolic steroids but with reduced androgenic (producing male characteristics) properties. These compounds are designed to selectively target androgen receptors in specific tissues, such as muscle and bone, without affecting other tissues like the liver, prostate, or brain. How SARMs Work SARMs work by binding to androgen receptors in the body. These receptors are present in various tissues, and their activation can influence muscle growth, bone density, and overall physical strength. Unlike anabolic steroids, which can affect a wide range of tissues, SARMs are designed to selectively target muscle and bone tissues, minimizing unwanted side effects. Benefits of SARMs Muscle Growth: SARMs promote muscle hypertrophy, making them attractive for athletes and bodybuilders. Bone Density: They help in increasing bone mineral density, which can be beneficial in treating osteoporosis. Fat Loss: Some SARMs can help reduce body fat while preserving lean muscle mass. Injury Recovery: They may accelerate the recovery process from injuries by promoting tissue regeneration. Types of SARMs Some popular SARMs include: Ostarine (MK-2866): Known for its muscle-building properties and is often used to combat muscle wasting diseases. Ligandrol (LGD-4033): Used for gaining lean muscle mass and strength. Andarine (S4): Effective for fat loss and lean muscle gain. RAD140 (Testolone): Known for its potent muscle-building effects. YK11: Unique due to its ability to inhibit myostatin, a protein that limits muscle growth. Risks and Side Effects While SARMs are generally considered safer than anabolic steroids, they are not without risks. Some potential side effects include: Suppression of natural testosterone production Liver toxicity (though generally less than steroids) Cardiovascular issues Hormonal imbalances Potential for long-term unknown effects Legal and Regulatory Status The legal status of SARMs varies by country. In many places, they are considered research chemicals and are not approved for human use. They are banned by most sports organizations, including the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), due to their performance-enhancing effects. Usage and Dosage SARMs are usually taken orally in pill form. The dosage can vary based on the specific compound and the desired effect. It's crucial to follow recommended dosages and cycles to minimize potential side effects. Due to their potent nature, using SARMs pills under medical supervision or with proper research is advisable. Conclusion SARMs represent a promising category of compounds for enhancing muscle growth, bone density, and fat loss while potentially reducing the side effects associated with anabolic steroids. However, due to the potential risks and regulatory issues, their use should be approached with caution and responsibility. Further research is necessary to fully understand their long-term effects and to establish safe usage guidelines.
