LOOK AT HOW MK FIGHTS!

He's actually a really good fighter.

He's fast

He can dodge (even at close range and in mid-air)

He's an expert with the staff (second only to Wukong himself)

He can take a hit (remember he's not invincible anymore. Every time he got slammed into a rock during this fight, he FELT that. And then immediately recovered)

He only lost here because of his mental state.

I wish Wukong saw this fight because he IS the best mentor. Look at him go🥹

Really not a fan of how it also walks back how incredibly serious MK was about Pigsy being his dad to the point that Pigsy saying he wasn’t MK’s dad implicitly sent the kid spiraling about not having any family? And then magically, offscreen, Pigsy changes his mind and decides that yep! MK actually IS his kid now!

And then MK for some reason is now magically okay with the notion that other people are his dads!!

Because we don’t need actual growth or time spend working through our differences!! We’ll just pretend they happened offscreen and artificially change our characters views and perspectives on things!

Like, this feels less like natural character development and more like one of the writers got angry that people viewed Sun Wukong as more of a dad than Pigsy, and decided that instead of just… giving the big guy some actual unabashedly positive screen time with MK to brighten people’s view of him, they’d just (by reducing MK into a writer’s temporary mouthpiece) yell about it two or three times in the show, and then reaffirm it again on twitter.

And then immediately walked it back to cater to fans.

The whole “[these snakes] represent my many many dads!” Is such fandom bait, please keep fanon out of the actual canon, this is the only line in season five I could not handle, I hate it, mk doesn’t have ‘many many dads’ he has Pigsy, that is canon, none of the fanon ships or the fanon ‘dads’ are canon
