Something I love about Love Is Better the Second Time Around is that both of their reasons for feelings betrayed by each other are understandable.

Miyata thought Iwanaga wasn't taking him seriously because he saw him joking around with his friends. So obviously he doesn't trust Iwanaga. Miyata thought Iwanaga saw him as just some silly joke.

Iwanaga on the other hand was very serious, but wasn't able to communicate that. Even if eloping was kind of a joke, a part of him was serious about it because it involved Miyata. He saw it as his chance to show how serious he was and looked forward to being alone together. When Miyata didn't come he felt betrayed. He must've thought "oh, I guess I'm not that special".

Miyata seems to have moved away soon after that so they must've spend over a decade without any communication/resolve. For Iwanaga, he ended up wanting Miyata and being even more direct. For Miyata, his distrust only got worse.

Carlos definitely identifies as an introvert, he called himself one during the nude project podcast and said he much prefers small gatherings at home as opposed to going out to a club. Also mentioned in the past he doesn’t enjoy crowded places, so is unlikely to attend events like a music festival, etc. I think some people get thrown off because he can be loud and chatty, but even before the podcast, he’s always struck me as an introverted, reserved and private person.

I also saw your ask about him not enjoying busy partying and not being able to let his guard down at clubs and yeah, I agree. Especially that people don't think he's introverted because he's loud and chatty. I'm loud and chirpy af when i'm happy; I still need hours alone to recharge. A lot of what he's said really sent the autism alarm bells ringing in my head. ESPECIALLY about being perceived by other people. Most neurotypicals aren't always worrying about how they look to other people, and a lot of autistics 'mask' our traits, and him not liking 'letting his guard down' made me go from 'lol, Carlos seems kinda autistic sometimes' to realizing he displays a LOT of symptoms. 15 Day BL Challenge - The Sequel

Day 23: Most disappointing ending to a series?

Last Twilight. Mhok deserved better. Between Day remaining a huge brat and never apologizing for his attitude towards literally everyone around him and him getting his eyesight back I found the final ep of Last Twilight more than disappointing. Mhok at least deserved an apology instead of running behind Day and taking the full blame for their breakup. I think this series should've ended on whatever ep it was that they were up on that cliff and Day saw his last sunset and saw Mhok's face clearly for the first time. Because after that ep the whole series went way down hill. Sometimes the unknowns staying unknown is better than going the safest route. And the special ep could've been Night and Phojai's wedding/the birth of their baby.

Love is Better the Second Time Around. This was actually another series that suffered from being too short. The first like 4 eps were perfection I was rooting for Iwanaga to win Miyata back and I was enjoying the chemistry and I found it refreshing that Miyata was acknowledging his urges as they hit him. I think the last 2 eps with the addition of the weird friend/ex/whatever he was and Iwanaga's mother kind of took the focus away from the real problems between them. The communication problems, the fear Miyata had and hurt Iwanaga had. Everything got smoothed over without a real conversation. I think this series needed at least 8 eps so that Iwanaga and Miyata had time to actually talk and come back together before Iwanaga dealt with whatever family drama he had. Also I wanted more of Shiraishi, he was such a bitch.

In OVER RAD SQUAD!!, Souma was discharged from the hospital and is currently using a wheelchair. He was going to watch the show and bumped into Taiga, who realized it was Souma, shocking him. Souma also finished the song he wished to present to Arata and sent the CD to him. As he saw Arata getting onstage, Souma was shocked, leading to him crying and telling Arata to give it his all, before being blown away by Arata's improvement. After Arata's performance, they happily reunited.

Too many beds

Ever since Higuchi joined the port mafia, she always believed she found the live of her life there, and his name was Ryuunosuke Akutagawa.

She was put as his subordinate when she joined the mafia a year prior and it never changed, and she has never wanted it to change. The man she loved was strong and a feared mafioso even among other members of the port mafia with inferior ranks. Everyone among the organization respected him in admiration of his impressive assassination skills, and Higuchi adored the mafioso more than she ever loved anyone else yet.

Higuchi may have been delusional over her superior and dream of made-up scenarios with him in her bed at 3AM, but that doesn't mean she was blind. It was clear the feeling was completely one-sided and that Akutagawa held no interest in the woman in any way, besides he made it clear he didn't enjoy her company at all. The blonde woman had a hard time accepting the fact the man she saw as her one true love wasn't interested in her at all and that he will credibly never share her feelings. She tried to convince herself she moved on, but deep down she knew that it wasn't the case yet, and that she still wanted his attention more than anything else.

But everything changed when she started getting closer to his sister. Her name was Gin, Gin Akutagawa. She has been in the port mafia for as long as her brother has but in contrast to her elder brother, she didn't have an ability and became a respected assassin purely out of skills, which was brilliant for a member of an organization with a high number of ability users. On missions, she always wear a mask and never speaks, which led to Higuchi to think she was a man until she learned her true gender through Dazai Osamu, the man who made the Akutagawa siblings join the mafia. Even though she knew she was a girl, she never knew she was her superior's sister until she followed him for embarrassing reasons and found out when she was about to fight her.

Surprisingly, ever since she has been seeing Gin more frequently and even hang out with her just the two of them sometimes, she has developed a closer relationship to her that she ever thought she would. Before learning more about the assassin, Higuchi saw her as a cold blooded murderer with a cold attitude and insensitive heart whenever she had to interact with other mafiosos. She was right about the cold blooded murderer part, yet she was undeniably wrong about how she saw Gin's personality. When Gin wasn't on a mission, she was a shy girl who liked to dress up in cute and feminine clothes, she looked soft and delicate to any person who would cross her eyes while walking down the street.

Ever since she saw this side of her, Higuchi would feel an indescribable feeling whenever she was with her. She could feel her heart beat a little faster, her face get hotter and her cheeks get redder. Whenever she was with Gin, the blonde mafioso couldn't concentrate and the last mission she got with her definitely didn't help. For this mission, they'll have to assassinate the leader of a rival organization that has been bothering the mafia too much lately and since their boss can't gain any benefit out of this organization anymore, they were ordered to murder him the day follow this one. According to the cameras other members had put in places in slept in, their victim, named Yamato Miyata, works at night and starts sleeping at approximately 11AM to wake up at 6PM, which means the ideal time for the women to tempt their assassination was noon.

To make sure the mission would be a success, the two mafiosos had to book a night in the hotel their target would stay in this night. This situation didn't seem to bother Gin that much but for Higuchi, it was unbelievably awkward. She would have to stay alone in a bedroom with this woman? Gin Akutagawa? The woman she started thinking she had a crush on? This mission was made to kill her internally, she was persuaded of it. At the moment, Higuchi was waiting in front of the hotel's portal for Gin to arrive before entering and claiming their room key. For this mission, the woman she was waiting for had to look pure and innocent, a person no one could ever see as suspicious or intimidating. While Higuchi was wondering what would the younger Akutagawa would look like, she noticed a silhouette approaching her.

When she recognized Gin, Higuchi's jaw dropped. The assassin was wearing a puff sleeved white top and a long white skirt slightly wrinkled around the area of her knees, and was wearing silver colored heels under a thin white stocking. She let her hair down and wore a beautiful wings shaped hairpin as jewelry, as well as an elegant but simple necklace who perfectly contrasted the color of her clothings. If Higuchi didn't know her as a black lizard assassin, she would've never thought a woman with a facade that looked so pure and innocent could ever commit an act of any violance. And if the blonde girl was doubtful about her feelings towards Gin a moment prior, her arrival was the confirmation needed for Higuchi. She had her answer : she was head over heels for Gin Akutagawa.

"Do I look good if this?" Higuchi's thoughts were harshly cut by the other woman's question, who quickly blushed after asking this. "Ugh no! I meant to say if you thought my disguise was credible, " she explained, redness all over her face. How was she so unaware of her beauty? In Higuchi's eyes, her disguise was as perfect as it could be. But his could she say that to Gin? "I think.. I think you look absolutely gorgeous in this, Gin-chan !" Higuchi answered, realizing a second too late what she just told her crush. She could feel her face burning when she made an eye contact with Gin to see her face flushing without saying a word,and they looked at each other in an awkward silence for around 2 minutes. Higuchi was about to make up an excuse to justify herself, but Gin was quicker to react.

"Uhm.. How about we go inside and revive our room's key? We should make sure everything is alright for the mission to go well," Gin suggested while trying to look at Higuchi in the eyes, which made it very embarrassing for the two of them. "Sure ! I'd like to be certain everything will be successful and it'll be easier if we starts now, " Higuchi replied, trying to not let her voice gets shaky and softer as her cheeks were still red and her heart still beating fast. Luckily for her, Gin didn't make any remark about it and just nodded her head and walking into the hotel with me, walking side by side.

"Hello Mister!" Gin spoke to the receptionist who immediately started blushing after his eyes met the sight of the black haired woman. "Me and my friend reserved a room under the name "Akutagawa", could we please receive the key? " she continued, acting oblivious to the man's embarrassment towards her, knowing she had to keep an innocent facade and that besides, having someone on your side is always a good thing. "Of.. Of course!" The receptionist answered, not succeeding to hide the shaking his voice produced while he spoke before searching for a key in his drawer and picking up 2 cards. "Your room is room 127 miss... Hope you enjoy your journey in this hotel!" The man informed the two women of their rooms as he gave them the keys. "Thank you for your kindness Mister!" Gin answered, acting cute and sweet to make sure she didn't look suspicious at all.

As the two mafiosos went away, Higuchi kept looking behind and staring at the receptionist. "Once this mission is finished, I'll ask for a day off and end your piteous life myself" she thought while looking at the man that dated speaking to HER crush. She was HERS. She was so lost in thought she didn't even notice they were already in front of her hotel room and Gin was staring at her, waiting for Higuchi to come back to her senses. "Are you... alright?" She whispered to Higuchi, which immediately awoke her and the blonde woman instantly regained her full mind. "Don't worry, I'm perfectly fine" she answered, tried to not let the previous jealousy she felt a little too intensely influence her voice. Gin didn't se to notice and just replied "If you say so, let's just get in our room"

The sight that awaited them in the room was a, little surprising. No there wasn't only one bed like a teenage romance movie, no there weren't 2 like two people living together would gace. No, in front, they saw 7 beds that practically took all over the apartment. What would Gin and Higuchi do with a whole seven beds? "There's too many beds for just the two of us, " Gin pointed out like it wasn't obvious "I think... we should just pick the two opposite beds" she suggested nervously, avoiding eye contact with her coworker. Higuchi felt like she just received a huge slap in the face bringing her back to reality. Gin was her colleague and of course she wouldn't wanna be closer to her than it needed to be, but Higuchi really wanted to sleep next to Gin.

"Sure, I'll just take the right one if that's okay with you" she proposed and saw Gin nodding her head, so she went to her side of the room immediately and started preparing everything that needed to be ready for the next day's mission. She tried the best she could to not pay attention to the dark haired girl at all but she could not prevent herself to take a look a her from times to times. The moment they finished packing everything out, it was already getting late and they needed to sleep well this night, as the next day there was an important mission awaiting them and they needed to have all the energy they could have. As a result to this, they both went to sleep around the same time and quite early to make sure they'll be as active as possible the following day.

Once in bed, Higuchi could not bother to take her eyes off Gin. Looking at her felt like looking at a charming princess with her silky long black hair and her smooth skin. Being so far away from her when they could be so close didn't please Higuchi at all. Maybe she could get a little closer? She could try to move to the bed next to her, she would at least be a little closer to Gin. While praying Gin doesn't notice her switching to the bed at her left, she slowly rolled towards it. When she finally met Gin's eyes, she was shooting her an interrogative look that made Higuchi try to think fats about an excuse. "My bed is too close to the window, it's too cold so I moved a little more away from it," she justified, avoiding eye contact with Gin as much as possible because she knew that excuse wasn't really believable.

Higuchi closed her eyes and tried to ignore every thoughts concerning Gin that passed through her head then all of a sudden, she heard a noise coming from her left. She opened her eyes to see Gin, a bed closer to her. This time, it was Higuchi who stared at the other girl waiting for an explanation. Gin flushed and turned her eyes away from Higuchi's. "My bed is uncomfortable, it's a bit bent and I can't sleep well in it, so I switched" she stuttered while slowly opening her eyes to see if Higuchi bought it. And she totally did. To the blonde woman, this seemed like a reasonable and believable reason to love beds, even if she would've initially thought the bed here would be perfect since it's a really fancy hotels, but accidents happen.

Higuchi was still a little far away from Gin, and it wouldn't hurt to get just a little closer? That woman really had an effect on her because while she knew she didn't have any good excuses for switching beds, she still chose to move to the bed on her left for the sole purpose to slightly approach Gin. Before Gin could say anything, Higuchi started speaking while creating a plausible reason as she spoke "My bed sheets weren't put well and I was too tired to put them correctly, so I changed bed." That was the worst excuse Higuchi has ever heard and she knew that Gin wouldn't believe this, it wasn't believable. Gin looked at her with a suspicious look for a few seconds then suddenly, her face completely changed as her cheeks slowly turned red, just like if she realized something.

Not even a minute after the supposed realization of the black haired woman, which Higuchi didn't know what it was about, the blonde observer with a slight surprise the woman in question moving a bed closer. Every time Higuchi tried to forget about her presence and just attempted to sleep, something would always happen reminding her of Gin presence, and it would get more and more intense every instant. Higuchi didn't even bother to ask Gin why she moved this time, instead she just waited for her excuse. "My bed keeps creaking and I can't sleep with that noise, so I'm switching beds again," she mumbled, still not looking at Higuchi straight to her eyes. This time, Higuchi doubted Gin's saying a bit, but who was she to question her? She already lied to her herself 2 times this evening.

15 minutes have passed and while Gin seemed to be sleeping, Higuchi couldn't close an eye. She was only one bed away from the bed next to Gin, which means that if she loved just this time, she could sleep to the bed next to Gin. Additionally, Gin looked asleep, so she surely wouldn't notice if Higuchi were to change beds a third time, right? Higuchi decided that if she stayed where she was, she would never be able to sleep properly and the mission the next day needed a lot of energy. She convinced herself that what she was doing was for the sake on the mission, and switched bed a third time, moving to the bed right next to Gin.

Higuchi was now truly next to Gin, and she felt at ease now. But just when she thought she could sleep now, she felt something pressing her hand. It was Gin, who was now in the very same bed as her. She was holding Higuchi's hand and looked at her with gentle eyes, caressing her cheek with her hand. Higuchi completely panicked internally and could not say anything. Her crush was in the same bed as her, one hand holding hers and the other resting on her cheek, how was she supposed to stay calm? She was about to talk when Gin cut her off before she could even speak. "Don't say anything, just sleep. I'll stay there until tomorrow." She spoke gently to Higuchi, her voice sounded like a lullaby to her ears, like enchanting her and calling her to sleep. This time, Higuchi felt like she could truly sleep peacefully and as her eyelids started feeling heavier and heavier every second, she slowly fell asleep in Gin's arms.

Higuchi slept like she had never slept that night.

Notes/Mentions of events leading to or about the failed ritual, in August 1979 and the aftermath. Note: any mentions of Miyako Kajiro are about Miyako from the past, not present (2003)

A newspaper article that details the landslide that hit Hanuda Village (3 August 1976 morning edition). The village at the time of the landslide, brought about as punishment for the failure of the "holy marriage rite". The article mentions that 33 people are currently missing, but in later reports that there are 31 people missing, two fewer people. This is due to the discovery of the bodies of Toshio and Ikuko Yoshimura on the 4th (the parents of the twins who later became Kei Makino and Shiro Miyata).

A newspaper article published in July 1976, just before the landslide of 1976. The town hall news article notifies of the area restructuring project to take place in two years, from August 1978, in Ataro and Harayadori. Since Hanuda has always been prone to natural disasters, at this point the town administration was trying to begin disaster prevention efforts. In August, after the restructuring was announced, the village suffered devastating damage in a huge landslide, turning it into what it is now.

A copy of the town hall news published in June 1976. It informs of reparations to be performed on the Hanuda floodgates, scheduled to start that September along the upper portion of the Mana river. From content, "emergency construction has been scheduled in response to flooding due to the overflowing of the Mana river". In actuality that August, the month before repairs were due to be carried out, the portion of the village containing the floodgates was sucked into the "Other World", disappearing from the real world (on the surface it appeared to have vanished when caught in a landslide). It seems as though in the end, rather than being "repaired" the floodgates had to be rebuilt from scratch. At the end of Siren is a scene in which the Mana river floodgates are blown up by Makino (Miyata), destroyed by water from the reservoir - the floodgates shown here are the old (pre-reparations) ones from August 1976.

It is a picture diary by Namiko Yoshikawa, with an entry on 5 July 1976 saying: "I saw a small light flying around Gojaku Peak. Tomorrow, after school, I'm going to go there." After writing this, Namiko vanishes. Namiko probably thinks that the light on Gojaku Peak may hold some clue as to her mother's mysterious disappearance.

A diagnostic chart written at Miyata Clinic in 1976. The patient's name is Takafumi Shimura. Takafumi was the cousin of hunter Akira Shimura, and due to his sharp senses had caught onto Hanuda Village's dark side and the true form of Hisako Yao. As well as showing the thick darkness enshrouding the village, you could also say that it is a document showing the terrible nature of the village doctors the Miyatas, cleaning up dissenters as the enforcers of "shadow". Upon trying to spread this fact to those around him, he was declared insane and admitted to the Miyata Clinic, and this chart tells the events of that time.

Also, before being confined inside the Miyata Clinic, Takafumi imparted his knowledge regarding the village's secrets to Akira's son, Koichi. Strongly affected by this, Koichi later attempts to free the village from its darkness by himself, stealing the indispensable holy vessel and planning to escape with the previous Miyako.

A villager's diary, found left inside the storage hut. An entry dated 2 June 1966 reads, "That woman is a monster. She has been watching over this village for a long, long time. Never changing, never aging." This shows that the owner of the diary is someone who has caught on to the danger of Hisako Yao, and has been watching her quite closely. By the content, it appears to be the diary of Takafumi Shimura. Takafumi was not the only one who had been chasing the village's secrets to a certain degree - there was also Omito Takeuchi, writer of the "Takeuchi Monographs". The Takeuchis and Shimuras had quite a close relationship, which may have been born as they examined the village's secrets.

An article about a phenomenon called "light pillars" in Hanuda Village, from the 31 July 1976 evening edition of the Misumi Gazette. The article writes, "Around dawn on the 30th of July, a strange pillar of light was observed in the sky above the Mana river floodgates." According to the explanation in the article, this phenomenon is caused "when a source of bright light refracts off of ice layers in the sky", but this was an omen of Datatsushi's coming before the "holy marriage rites" of 1976 that ultimately ended in failure. According to Takafumi Shimura this was a bad omen, thinking the light pillars being described as a natural phenomenon idiotic.

A yellowed letter found in a sickroom at the Miyata Clinic. From the way it begins with "To Akira", it appears to have been a letter that Takafumi Shimura attempted to send to his cousin Akira. Whilst spending his days confined within iron bars, his sanity gradually began to slip. The phrase repeated persistently throughout the letter - "I'm not crazy". His cousin never receives this letter.

Two clay statues, each engraved with the design of either a sword or a shield. In short, they are "divine weapons" within which dwell the "opposing power that is created when another power is born". After the 1976 ritual ended in failure, it was in the possession of the Previous Miyako, sealed away in the basement of the Miyata Clinic for 27 years.

A photograph of Akira Shimura, Koichi Shimura, Omito Takeuchi and young Tamon Takeuchi. This photo shows the close relationship between the Takeuchi and Shimura families. It was likely that Koichi Shimura learned some of what he knew from Omito Takeuchi, who had a certain degree of knowledge about the Kajiro family's secrets as a local historian.

Scribbles drawn by a patient on the wall of the isolation ward at the Miyata Clinic. Countless eyes drawn across the wall, crushed by some insane persistence. This motif of "crushed eyes" appears to come from fear towards the sudden onset of "visions". Unlike those who intentionally use their ability to sightjack, some people living in Hanuda Village would share visual and auditory hallucinations against their own volition. To them, the sudden vague scenes in their vision and distant sounds in their ears must have been unbearably terrifying. At the same time, the sensation of looking at themselves through someone else's eyes- it would not be strange to think that their mental balance would gradually slip. These kinds of people feared eyes. It may have been Takafumi Shimura, locked up inside the Miyata Clinic, who drew these scribbles on the wall.

A diary that seems to have been written by a maid of the Kajiro family who was assigned to Miyako (dated 27 July 1976). While devotedly serving Miyako, who is to become the "bride of god," she notes her uncertainty, finding it hard to look Miyako in the eyes knowing that she is destined to soon leave the world. This diary appears to have been written by a maid called Sumiko

A suicide note left by Kei Makino's Stepfather, Reiji Makino, the Guiding Priest who oversaw the ritual of 1976 that ended in failure. "…the failure of the ceremony lies heavily upon me. My life is drawing to an end and though I cast aside all earthly pleasures and dedicated my entire existence to the search for eternal truth, I was unable to achieve a single thing. Kei, I must ask you to look after everything from now on." Dated 3 June 1988

A photograph of two newborn infants, dated June 30th, 1976. The foreheads of the babies are marked in ink with the sign of the Mana Cross. This is a custom in Hanuda Village, believed to ward off malevolent spirits. In 1976 the Yoshimuras, Toshio and Ikuko, were living in Yabe Settlement, Harayadori. While evacuating with their twin brothers, Takaaki and Katsuaki, in their car, they became caught up in some kind of bizarre incident and suddenly appeared before Reiji Makino and Ryoko Miyata. From then on, Takaaki and Katsuaki were each taken in and raised by the Makino and Miyata families. Looking at this photo of the brothers, smiling innocently while still the Yoshimuras' children, it is impossible to imagine the contrasting fates of the two who are later to become Makino and Miyata.

Tamon Takeuchi's Childhood Diary, dated August 25th, 1977. "I see Mommy and Daddy when I close my eyes. I can hear them calling me. Grandpa and Grandma say it's only a dream, but that’s not true. I want to go home, I want to see them." seems to have been written by Takeuchi after being taken in by relatives following the loss of his parents in the 1976 landslide. Since at this point Tamon's parents would have been at the bottom of the reservoir, turned into half-Shibito, it wouldn't be totally impossible for them to be calling out to him.

A Letter Addressed to Tamon Takeuchi, by Community Affairs Section, Hanuda Town Hall. It reads, "Dear Mr. Takeuchi: Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, we have been unable to find any evidence of such a ceremony being held in Hanuda 27 years ago." Conducting his own investigation into Hanuda Village's mysteries, Tamon appears to have noticed the possibility that there may have been some kind of "secret Manaist ritual" behind the 1976 landslide.
