Rhian: *trying to persuade his brother to do something* Please, Rafal? Rafal: *exasperatedly sighs* Fine. *does thing* Are you happy? Rhian: *grins and throws his arms up in and triumph* Yes, indeed! I am so very joyful! I'm ecstatic! I'm merry! I'm the gayest man in the Woods! Rafal: Well there's no doubt about that.

Now to find a way to integrate Man Out of Time into the Twins/Mando/CatsVsDogs/Mirror Man/Mistral/Armored Angel mega-AU
Jesus
Well first of all, Mistral is inherently incompatible with most of those because the plot doesn’t progress past V5. So it CANT be combined with Mirror Man or CatsvDogs. Also, because of stuff that happens in Mistral, I don’t think Mando Jaune would survive
But hit me up with your ideas for integrating Man out of Time with the rest of these

Hi prequel community. If I said that I think the reason why there were only two prequels compared to the three that the other parts of the series got (3 TSY books and 3 TCY books) AND the reasons why Rhian's eye colour changes miraculously from Rise to Fall from green to blue (I think he's described as having green eyes in Rise? someone might have to correlate me on that) is because in Rise he's supposed to parallel TSY Sophie (green eyes, doubtfully good, multiple boyfriends) and then in Fall he's supposed to parallel Japeth (blue eyes, fratricidal, insane, gets cool one liners) how would you react to that
#the brackets make this unreadable im so sorry#but like you've got to hear me out on this right. right.#im cooking something I dont know what it is but its being cooked#the downsides ive spotted here is that I don't know if Rafal goes from TSY Agatha --> TCY Rhian that is a problem#but I might've just not spotted it#there's def some rhian sader in rafal cause of the whole “idc if you're evil and I'm the One (true king) we can still rule together”#and the whole Getting Murdered#I didn't pick up much of Agatha in him in Fall but the Sophie parallel was DEFINITELY there for Rhian#and “the One” being introduced as a parallel to “the One True King” makes way too much sense#this is also a convenient explanation for the wrong eye colours (though that also doesn't apply to Agatha. applies well to TCY twins though#is “cool one liners” solely a japeth trait? no. did he get the best ones? absoLUTELY. “welcome to hell then” okayyyyy go off#submitting this for peer review#there's so many little observations I have about prequels that I don't want to make full posts about#for example how the school masters' colours in the movie are the rise + fall ones#but whatever#sge#tsfgae#school for good and evil#the school for good and evil#fotsge#rotsge#sge prequels#japethposting#if anyone spots any more parallels that I missed pleaaaassseeee tell me I need to build a case file for this#rafal mistral#rhian mistral#oh also this was accidentally inspired by a wisteriaum post so thank you 4 that#MORE TAGS oh my god sorry I just remembered that Rhian gets described as serpentine/snakey a LOT in Fall that's def something

Honestly I have this strange urge to write BITTWBBBTF/ We will Meet Again with that mood of calm sadness... like it has its violent, shocking, horrific moments, but also things that would vaguely resemble memories of a lifetime before....

V-Twin Boost

Manami Aiba/ La Brava AU Concept
Manami Aiba was alone… She had been for a long time, born small and stunted little had been expected of her. Though despite that, her intellect was not to be shrugged off, her skills less so. She had what it took to be someone great, Atlas had made her multiple offers when she was still in middle school and up until she dropped out of high school all those years ago…
So why had she… Love, love was a powerful, but cruel force for Aiba, it drove the young and older, experienced and naïve alike to do foolish things. She was no different, she fell in love, he wasn’t anyone special, not really, but to her that boy had been the world. She could hardly remember what it was that drew her to him anymore.
She had wanted to know him to be closer to the person that made her heart beat so fast, that lit her soul with joy and desire. She’d followed him, learned about him… Stalked him, she was young, naïve… Dumb. Of course he would notice, and unfortunately for her, he would not view it positively.
Creepy, freak, midget psycho, those were a few word he tossed out, and then those became her titles to the entire student body… People avoided her, and in turn she begun to avoid them in kind.
She denied her scholarships, she pushed away teachers, her parents and anyone, everyone else. Eventually she left it all behind, leaving Mistral to go to Vale, but nothing truly changed, every time she was outside, she felt people stare, heard them call her names…
She didn’t want anything to do with people anymore, after all, the rejection had crushed her, not simply because it broke her heart, not because it ostracized her… But because it denied her very soul, her semblance, she had aura, her parents opting to awaken it when her dwarfism had been identified, hoping aura would help her growth which given her more capable state it had.
But with it came the manifestation of her soul, Love, the power to amplify every facet of a individual’s capabilities, the sole limits being that she can only activate it once and that the only person she can use it on is the one she loves….
Could it be blamed for her powerful emotions, for her need to know the person she felt love for, did she stalk and obsess over that boy because of her semblance, or did she use her semblance as a excuse to do so. Was she sane, or desperate, pathetic or pitiful. She didn’t know, she didn’t want to know, because she refused to fall in love again.
So she avoided it, avoided the world, the outside whenever and however she could.
She used her talents to secure a stable living. She was a hacker like no others, able to break through any firewall, or program to secure what she needed.
She sold info, to the highest bidder, made false documents, traded information for favors. The Xiong proved a valuable client. That was how she secured her life, as a cyber sleuth, a hacker with the alias, LA BRAVA.
And that was how she lived her life, alone, there was no Gentle Criminal in Remnant who became her light in the dark. Nobody would come and pull her from her loneliness, she would live this way forever, committing cyber crimes to survive and sustain her isolation…
Junior then contacted her with a request, to falsify some Transcripts into Beacon, she may have been criminal, but Manami was not without morals. She wouldn’t just pave the way for anyone to access Huntsman level training. It was such a person who had done so for the Branwen twin several decades ago and even Mistral still suffered under the hands of the bandit queen.
So she requested info on the individual, she would commit her own background check on them, and then decide.
His name, was Jaune Arc and he was… Handsome. He was from a village outside the kingdom, there were few records past his birth certificate. Not nearly enough, her heart beat with every picture of him she saw. She requested more information, Junior didn’t have much, so she dug deeper, found out where he was living at the time. It was just for her to decide…
She… She left her home, her small apartment, the Arcs weren’t to renowned but to those in the know they were taught the familiar were as honorable as they came, knights outta fairytales. So why was her here, asking to fake his way into Beacon, she had to know.
She almost was able to ignore the stares on her, the pit in her stomach being in public caused, she felt dizzy, she wanted, no needed to go bac-
“Are you okay?”
And then by sheer coincidence she met him, Jaune Arc kneeled before her, a worried look on his face. Things happened rather fast, she found herself walking beside her target, the boy so friendly, so open to talk to her. Not making a huge issue of her form, of her condition, but also not ignoring it.
He slowed to walk with her, but never once drew attention to her size, and when someone not noticing her bumped into her he defended her. Made them apologize… When asked why he approached her, it wasn’t a painful excuse or cruel misunderstanding like that he thought she was a lost child or that he wanted to ask directions.
“You looked sad, so I figured I’d try to see if I could fix that.” He smiled, it was bright, kind and inviting.
“After all, if I wanna be a Huntsman I should be able to at least cheer up a pretty girl right?” Her cheeks flushed, her chest tightened as he went on with his silly simple but honest words.
That time couldn’t have lasted though, people approached her, junior’s men, they didn’t recognize her, couldn’t have, they’d never met in person after all. Everyone back away as they did, it made sense, junior liked to be in the know, and she was a new face he’d never seen.
Despite how it looked everything should’ve been okay, would’ve been okay, but Jaune didn’t know that, and stepped between.
He wasn’t skilled, not huntsman level at least, but he was strong, she was sure he could kill grimm, even without aura. It shocked her seeing that, seeing him bleed, but he stood tall and strong, defending her until police showed up. But she could see it, the despair in his face, he must’ve realized they were Hei’s men. That he’d thrown away his chance to go to Beacon…
Or so he thought, but she thought different, because despite all that he prioritized her, his friend, one he said didn’t matter that he just met because.
“Strangers are just friends you haven’t met yet.” She’d said it on reflex.
“Love you…” If he hadn’t burst into a dazzlingly, blinding white light he might’ve heard her instead of freaking out. She had to explain what Aura was to him, what it meant, and then convince him to not give up… She, she might’ve told him he shouldn’t sleep at his hotel, that Junior’s men might try to hurt him. They wouldn’t, not so soon, but he didn’t need to know that.
He hadn’t cared until he thought they might go after her… She, used that to have him stay with her, to keep him in Vale. Hacking Beacon was easy, falsifying transcripts easier, they looked more legitimate then the actual ones. Jaune, her friend would be a Huntsman, she’d make sure of it.
Several weeks he stayed with her, cooked for her, and spent time with her, they talked, they grew close, he, he was so amazing, so nice and kind… And hot, he was beefy under his hoodie, like a actual farmboy.
But it all had to come to a end, he thanked her, and promised to visit, to call and made her promise to do the same.
And then he left, but she wasn’t done, hacking Beacon’s security cameras she watched their Initiation saw him partner with a celebrity, a tall, leggy celebrity, but even then he talked about her. About his best friend in Vale, which made his best friend in Beacon, Ruby Rose Jealous.
Then the Grimm attacked, he charged a giant Death Stalker, and her heart froze in fear, she didn’t hesitate, knowing it’d activate.
“I Love You!” She said it with desperation, and even so far away it activated, and the world exploded with bright pink light as Jaune was amplified by her semblance. Moving faster then the Rose Girl, hitting stronger then the blonde, red-eyed bimbo or the ginger hammer wielder. He was confused but not still, determined to act.
Every swing of his blade tearing trough he thick armor and flesh of the Death Stalker alike it’s claws, tail and then legs before he cleaved it in twain. And then… He jumped into the air, not thinking for his safety, or about what he’d do if the power disappeared.
Only about killing the second Grimm, tackling into the giant Nevermore and shooting straight through it. He fell hard but survived given his already immense aura being multiplied several dozen fold.
And it was over, and he called a hour later, people celebrating behind him as he told her the good news, unaware she’d seen it all. The only misunderstanding being that he thought her power was his semblance. He thanked her for unlocking his soul and promised he’d visit her that weekend.
Only for someone to visit her only a hour later, someone she knew, but solely by reputation, the man in charge of Jaune’s fate. The headmaster of Beacon academy, something about having a good grasp of detecting Aura and it’s sources… Then pointing out how while Jaune’s transcripts were flawless, his history was not.
She expected her life to be over but instead.
“Manami Aiba, I believe Beacon could use someone of your particular set of skills, how would you feel about assisting our Stealth and Security Professor Ann Greene? You are around the age of a fourth year. I’m sure we can… Work something out.”
I think their ship name should be 'Amour' (French for Love)

Weiss: *stares at me*
Me: What?
Weiss: Am I a joke to you?
Me: *laughs then stops* Yes. Yes, you are.
Weiss: How?
Me: Weiss in volume one you were a pain. You had issues with Ruby and Blake. You single-handle almost divided your team. Volume three, you left Ruby. In volume four, you got Klain fired. Volume 6, you were unwilling to take one for your team and go home because you were scared of your father. In volumes Seven and eight you have screwed your family over by betraying your sister, arresting your father, threatening your brother, insulting your mother, and getting your home destroyed. What would you like me to say?
Weiss: Um...
Me: Not to mention you are a shitty partner.
Weiss: Wow I-
Me: Atlas you were good. But everywhere else... Nope. You didn't bother to check on your partner's mental state in the Everafter. You almost died in Mistral. Heck, name one time you and Ruby hung out together beside Beacon.
Weiss: Okay but Jaune-
Me: Man literally followed Ruby everywhere. Mistral. Atlas. Shit the Everafter. The man put faith in her. Kept you and the rest of her team alive for her. Waited years for her. Bro was more of her partner than you will ever be.
Weiss: Um...
Me: Let's talk more. You lost to side characters! Vernal and Yatashi's twin brother. They had no aura, Weiss. You lost to Flynt. Flynt Cole! Jaune beat Flynt. He also fought a maiden two times. He fought a headmaster. And the majority of the fight in Ever After he was the only one cooking. He was putting his hands on Neo. Yang couldn't hang with Neo.
Weiss: She was possessed.
Jaune: Still did it.
Me: Basically Weiss you don't deserve Number Two. You barely deserve Jaune. Took seeing him as Rusted Knight to want to get with him, come on. I will be surprised if he doesn't choose your sister over you.
Weiss: Ouch.

any thoughts on the branwens (as in, the group, not the twins) like world building tidbits? also, because i’ve seen people bring it up, raven has killed a lot of people (assumably??), so how do you think the show will handle that going forward?
i kind of metronome back and forth with the branwens on how i read them, because – with the disclaimer that it is Not That Deep because the whole bandit tribe exists to service raven's character and to a lesser extent qrow's, i just brought a shovel – i think there's two interesting ways to take them:
the branwens are an ethnic group, probably historically pastoralist nomads. in this case the composition of the camp we see – 100% able-bodied fighters, no children or elderly – would indicate that this is just a war party and the rest of this society is out in the hinterlands with the livestock. mistrali expansion in the pre-war era would have driven them further and further onto marginal land, with the result of them becoming increasingly reliant on raiding to survive.
the branwens represent a grab-bag of disaffected people who Left Mistral because of its various problems (steep class stratification, widespread poverty, rampant organized crime, political corruption, imperial history meaning many people living in mistral now are descended from conquered peoples…) and discovered that like, subsistence farming is hard and turned to banditry instead, in which case the branwens are unlikely to be very cohesive in the absence of a strong leader because there's less of a cultural bond.
#2 strikes me as more in line with the probable intention based on how they're portrayed, but assuming "branwen" is the tribe name (as opposed to them being "the branwen tribe" now because a woman named raven branwen leads them), then i think #1 is more interesting with regard to ozpin admitting qrow and raven to beacon.
if the branwens are an ethnic minority in mistral, ozpin is a lot more likely to have heard of them vs an ad hoc group of bandits. now consider how "the branwens are an ethnic minority (and the encampment we see is a war party, supplementing a pastoral subsistence base by raiding)" alters the context of "aside from grimm, huntsmen were the only ones capable of ruining our raids and hunting us down. our tribe needed a counterforce." and think about the mistrali huntsmen openly extorting passengers for protection money.
right. like, again it's Not That Deep, we're in headcanon territory here, but pulling away from the text in this way adds an interesting dimension to the twins' enrollment – on the one hand it would be discriminatory for ozpin to reject them on the basis of being branwens and on the other, we know that mistral broadly has a serious problem with corrupt and outright criminal huntsmen and the fear of huntsmen "hunting us down" means something very different if the bandits are just the military force of a nomadic society – it's a fear not for the warriors but for the most vulnerable members.
and then you have the twins on this divergent path because their purpose (to protect those of their people who cannot defend themselves) is exactly ozpin's purpose, he just defines the whole world as his people. it's not so much that the twins reject the branwen way of thinking as it is that ozpin challenges them to expand upon it, to think bigger and wider than before.
qrow embraces this and it shifts his perspective on the raiding – he comes to see it as part of the problem, the warriors as killers and thieves; raven likewise embraces it but in her mind, ozpin's ideals are the justification for the raiding. the warriors exist to defend the people, here as at home. what difference does it make if the danger is from grimm or huntsmen or deprivation?
(on its face this may seem contradicted by "the strong live, the weak die," except that raven is also someone preoccupied with "our people," "our family," "we must do what's right for the tribe" and so forth; a strong society is one that can protect its people, even the weak, and the rhetorical idea of heroic guardians sheltering the defenseless populace boils down to "the strong live, and the weak will die without protection by the strong.")
#2 interests me more in terms of how it contributes to the picture the narrative has painted of mistral as this decaying empire that is sort of hemorrhaging population because people. don't want to live there, don't want to have its way of life imposed on them, and we see over and over that the people who feel this way often feel so strongly that they'd genuinely rather leave and take their chances with the grimm.
like, we don't see that in vale – mountain glenn was built under vale's auspices and populated by valean citizens – and we don't see it in atlas – the free towns in arrowfell are clearly older than atlas/mantle. and we don't see it in vacuo, where despite marked cultural differences between desert vacuans and city vacuans both groups firmly consider themselves One People.
i think it's less interesting in regard to the twins than the first option, though. because if the branwens are legitimately just bandits then the absence of children/elderly in the camp would imply that the twins were kept solely to be trained into weapons and the break between them is more straightforward, with their different perspectives reflecting a childhood dynamic where qrow was the whipping boy and raven favored.
whereas if the branwens constitute a whole, functional society – a) any children born into this group must learn some basic self defense as a matter of course, they live in grimm territory, and b) the nature of qrow's semblance, the tribe's fear of him, and his grimm reaper fanboying opens the question of whether it was less "the twins were kept to be molded into living weapons" and more "qrow didn't want to become a warrior, but misfortune kept getting blamed for things like sheep dying or a birth going wrong or grimm hitting the main camp and he wanted so badly to be good for something, and going on raids kept him at a safe distance from home and in a place where he could at least try to inflict misfortune on the enemy instead."
you still have the dynamic of qrow suffering ostracism and maybe even the threat of exile while raven is a natural fit for what she wants to be, and the first stroke of the lifelong pattern qrow has of isolating himself from people he cares for in this specific way. "why couldn't you travel with us?" / "did you know that crows are a sign of bad luck?" – hits different if the defining experience of qrow's childhood was running with war parties because he was too dangerous to be a shepherd. if the thing that really appealed to him most about the legend of the grimm reaper was that she was good enough to protect and defend her people alone.
and then from raven's side you have the maybe not entirely getting why qrow would want to be anything else, and the being glad her brother is with her most of the time, and the being afraid he might leave her behind. i just think it allows for more complexity.
as for raven killing people: i honestly don't think it's going to matter that much beyond maybe raven and yang having a conversation about it – bc i think yang will probably want to know more about why raven picked banditry over being her mom. like.
it happened. raven feeling remorseful isn't going to make it not have happened. she can't bring those people back to life or rebuild those towns or undo what she did. in vacuo, on the other side of the world, there's not really anything she can do meaningfully within the scope of the story to make amends to the people she hurt, either. what matters in the moment is that she's here now, doing what she can to help. the narrative has always cared more about the present and the future than the past, and the stakes are too high for the characters to let "but you did all this awful stuff in the past" become a distraction.
gestures at letting neo go.
gestures at giving emerald a second chance.
and while the context is different and in no way morally equivalent, i'll point out that like. team rwby have killed people too – the white fang militants in v2 for example, and of course adam – they are trained combatants fighting a war. none of them have ever blinked at using lethal force when it is appropriate to do so. and if they can find it in themselves to show grace to emerald, whose reason for participating in the terroristic sack of beacon was more or less just devotion to cinder, then i don't think subsistence raiding is somehow a bridge too far.
not to say that what the branwens do isn't bad but it is of a different scale from terrorism, and raiding for provisions you need to survive is a lot closer to killing enemy combatants in a battle, or to robyn's or sienna's vigilantism, than it is to terrorism. so yeah i think it's ancillary to the personal reconciliation between raven and yang moreso than it is some sort of moral quandary necessitating special handling by the narrative.

Okay, here me out...
RWBY: Dynasty Warriors
I saw a small clip on 𝕏 Twitter of someone playing the newest game, and my immediate thought was "wait, TLOZ got a spin-off game in this style, right? Why can't the RWBY License?"
Just imagine, there's been some sort of temporal shenaniganery that forced the world to be condensed down into a small area built for the game, with people being pulled from all different places and times to appear within.
You could perhaps start in the fields of the Emerald Forest, which then transitions into the Forever Falls. After that, there's different paths to unlock various areas of the map.
Perhaps there's an entrance to Mountain Glenn on one end of the Emerald Forest, or maybe heading far enough north will transition you into the Snowy Tundras of Argus. If you head east for long enough, the land grows increasingly desolate and orange, and you transition into the harsher climates of the Vacuo dunes, or head west and you face off against Mistral based enemies and bosses, like the Nuckelavee.
All of these areas have a CCT Tower as their main point of interest within the area, meaning you get Shade / Haven / Atlas / Beacon, but you could also maybe have other minor CCT Towers to necessitate traveling somewhere, like in the far south east where there's a Menagerie tower in the harshest area in the game, or maybe you have some real fun and have Monstra in somewhere like the far north west with a tower post on his head.
And of course, characters. I'd say easy picks would be Team RWBY and Team JNPR, but then who else? Do you lean into having the villains? Do you expand the roster to other teams, like CFVY? Do you include full Huntsmen and Huntresses, bring the likes of the Branwen Twins, The Grimm Reaper in her prime (time travel is fun), the Headteachers?
All of them mowing down wave after wave after wave of Grimm in all manner of shape and sizes.
I dunno, I just think that'd be neat

The Pen writes the new School Master’s name.
But this time it doesn’t write one name.
It writes two.
The Pen is called the Storian.
Long and steel, sharp at both ends.
It floats into the air over the two boys, its tip like an eye.
Then it speaks.
The voice warm and ageless. Neither male nor female.
In exchange for immortality
In exchange for eternal youth
I choose you.
Two brothers.
One for Good.
One for Evil.
Your loyalty to your blood greater than the loyalty to
your side.
As long as you love each other, the world stays in
balance.
Good and Evil.
Brother and brother.
But every School Master faces a test.
Yours is love.
Betray that love and the test is failed.
You will wither and die.
You will be replaced.
Raise your hands to seal this oath.
The boys do, twins who wear the same face.
Rhian, skin golden, hair wild, lifts his hand.
The Pen glows hot and slashes his palm, Rhian crying out.
Then Rafal, skin milky-white, hair like silver spikes.
It stabs his hand and Rafal doesn’t flinch.
The Pen’s glow fades, its steel growing cold.
Rhian and Rafal are identical, so where the h*ll does Soman get off saying there are fraternal?.
The same face?.
Hello?.
You can't be fraternal with the same face.
I guess that answers the questions.
Rafal and Rhian look just like, except the hair color, eyes and their body built.
Rhian is more muscular, while Rafal is more skinny-skrunny.
Yeah, I said it.
Anyways, back to the cave for me.
Mwah! 💋😘💝😘

Twin au when yang loses her arm jaune feels it and he continues to have arm pain from the fall onwards, with makes yang feel bad.
I don’t think he would continue to have pain (at least no more often than Yang has phantom pain) but he DOES feel it when Yang loses her arm
It’s when they’re in the vault fighting Cinder and Jaune is so bowled over that he nearly blacks out. This is what makes Pyrrha blast the door off the pod, Jaune collapses
He doesn’t pass out, because the pain is always a little bit muted and he didn’t ACTUALLY lose his arm, so there’s none of the mental/emotional shock (mostly because Yang is unconscious). But he can Feel something is Missing, something is Wrong. Somewhere in Beacon Yang is HORRIBLY injured
His only reassurance as Pyrrha pulls him out of the tower in a pain fueled daze is that the fact that he’s feeling this pain still at all means that Yang is still alive. He’d know if she was dead
After the Fall after Pyrrha JNPR goes to Patch. His family is hurt, Ren and Nora and Ruby and YANG oh gods Yang is so hurt and if he lets her out of his sight he’s going to go mad
He’s fine. He’s fine. Why does everyone keep asking if he’s fine?
Jaune’s arm aches so badly that he’s fitted with a sling, even though there’s no physical injuries. Everything from his elbow down feels numb, and he can’t hold glasses for weeks after the Fall
He barely leaves Yang’s side. He can’t feel anything from her, just cloudy dreams pierced with red, and pain pain pain. Always muted, which is a relief. He’s dreading her reaction when she finally wakes up
Time passes, as it always does. Yang is awake, but she’s so MUTED, her sun-brightness dulled by the loss of a part of her. Their arms hurt less every day. JNPR becomes RNJR, and they leave for Mistral
Jaune’s arm aches, and he pushes through it. He had to train, he has to be BETTER. If he was better then his sister wouldn’t have lost an arm, then his PARTNER would still be alive
He doesn’t know what it is, but one day his arm feels… complete. More solid. There’s no more tingling in his fingertips, no more aching in his forearm. He has no way to know, but this is the first time Yang puts on the prosthetic
That’s about all the pain he gets. His arm still gets stiff and achey from time to time, when Yang is having phantom pain. But it’s never as constant as it was during the trek across Mistral
Actually, when he gets to the city, Ren and Nora make him get one of those elbow braces and that helps a LOT. Yang feels bad when she arrives and sees him wearing it, because she knows why he needs it, but he reassures her that he’s fine
And he is, in that regard at least.
It’s actually Blake who reacts the worst. Yang never blamed herself for losing her arm, and she didn’t blame Blake either. She just feels bad that this injury hurt Jaune as well.
BLAKE feels AWFUL for a while
She watched Yang lose her arm, but she completely forgot that her pain would transfer in part to Jaune. He of course doesn’t blame her at all, and on the way to Atlas, or on the train, they talk about it

With the possibility of Ciel forming a team with Jaune and Penny in the Dark AU; I would like to pitch an idea of how a fourth teammate could join while staying in line with the AU's tone:
In either Vacuo or Mistral an overconfident team unofficially takes a mission that is beyond their abilities resulting in only one living survivor. Though traumatized said survivor still wishes to be a huntsman they are unfortunately kicked out of their school. Ozpin decides to take them in.
If the survivor is from Vacuo may I suggest May Zedong. If from Mistral either Reese or Sun. That's just my opinion.
@epic-arc Might need some help on this one.
Ciel is likely to be added as a team member, but finding a fourth member is, well, challenging, to say the least. I don't want to just annihilated an entire team just to satisfy the requirements (especially since that's what started this whole mess).
Though I do like the idea of May or Reese coming on board, they already have their teams, just like Sun.
Honestly, I'm getting a dumb idea of putting someone freelance or on their own or even with dubious intentions to join, like Neopolitan or one of the Malachite twins. Like, imagine this team of a traumatized sadboi and his emotional support partner (who is secretly a robot) and her handler partnered to somebody who's seen death countless times and feels NOTHING. Heck of a team dynamic, isn't it?

Jailbreak pt. 2
Guard: Alright, you four. Up and out.
RWBY: (walk out of the jailcell)
Raven: And what have we learned?
RWBY: That the amount of "Find out" directly correlates with the amount of "Fuck around".
Raven: 'Atta girls.
Kali: (sprinting into the jail panting) Gods of the Shallow Sea, am I out of shape! Girls, are you alright?
RWBY: Fine, Mrs. Belladonna/Mom.
Raven: (squints) Kali???
Kali: Raven?????
RWBY: YOU KNOW EACH OTHER?!?!?!?!?!
Kali: Oh! Um....
Raven: Hey, it's good to see you again, Black Cat! You remember those mouse Faunus twins back in Mistral?
Kali: (sweating) All too well...
Blake: MOM!!!
Kali: Blake, I told you I used to have wilder days.
Blake: A ménage à trois! Trois! Three! THREE!!! Not FOUR with one of them being my girlfriend's MOTHER!!!
Kali: (leans over to look at Raven's ass, then looks over to stare at Yang's) I thought those legs looked familiar.
Blake: MOM, NO!!!!
Yang: Wait.... Raven got with your mom?
Raven: What? It was before you were born.
Yang: ......get it, ma.
Kali/Blake: YANG!!!!
