Are people really that mind blown by the *twists* in PL4? Did they really think Level 5 had jumped the shark by that point?

I’ll give you that the pacing of PL4 is… It’s off. Maybe even bad sometimes. For example, you meet Loosha, who you’re meant to care about, and then 2 minutes later she’s getting captured by Jakes. And then two chapters later she dies. The twists could have been revealed a lot better, yeah.

But the twists themselves? They’re MUNDANE for a PL game.

The robot village that’s somehow escaped everyone’s notice? That was believable?

The lost phantom town that escaped everyone’s notice and the old man that was high on hallucinogenic gas? That was credible?

The fake future CITY built in an underground cavern under the real London? That’s concealing a giant deadly robot? And a flawed version of time travel exists? THOSE WERE ALL FINE?

The setting for PL4 is a fairly mundane town that you might be most likely to find in England. A normal town with a fairly realistic class divide. The town is plagued by a significantly large excavating robot, smaller than the Mobile Fortress, fighting a giant lake creature. A creature that resembles a seal— real animals that exist in British waters! Okay, maybe in the sea rather than LAKES, but it wouldn’t be impossible for a seal to enter a lake… and lots of people still think the Loch Ness Monster could be/have been real!

And the ancient untouched garden hidden under the town’s lake? Still more acceptable to me than the underground caverns beneath London.

Is it because Misthallery was a more realistic setting— say, rather than Future London or the phantom town of Folsense? Is that what made the twists in PL4 seem less believable? 

But do you know what the best twist is? Arianna, a female PL character, survives her illness. Unlike Lady Viola, Sophia, Melina, Rachel, Ernest’s mother and Kamila… Arianna defies the odds and survives.

Also… Emmy. Just Emmy in general.

These two break my heart... I'm glad they had each other in that big empty manor. Hard to wrap my head around how young they are... - I was very taken by the image of Tony's toys scattered in the hallway, I hope they found time to play together and raise each others spirits a bit u_u !!

I’m curious about which other characters with a ‘mysterious illness’ could have been cured by the Golden Garden. As Loosha’s wounds couldn’t be healed, I don’t think injuries could be healed, unfortunately. Sorry Des’ family

Personally, I think one reason why was Descole was so determined to find the Golden Garden was so that he could cure Melina’s illness… and if he happened to get two Azran sites out of it, win-win for him.

Would you believe I almost forgot to include RACHEL BRONEV…? Actually, that’s not too unbelievable since Level 5 almost forgot her too.

BIG FUCKING SIGH ok look ive been sat on this for like. a looong while now so i consolidated all my shitty ideas into some headcanon pages. im bad at sharing stuff so now its ur problem. tbh some of these are a mix of canon and headcanon so it all kinda makes sense somehow. i would looooove to hear hcs from other people tho just chuck em at me. ill eat them.

a lot of these r referential to other things so ill put my thoughts in a read more,,, ur walc. tis a good read.

- for people unaware, corvus is crow’s name in the spanish translation, but i think it fits better as a name. who tf just names their kid straight up crow.

- ofc u recognise mama, my beloved

- crow and pipper look so much fucking alike i refuse to believe they aren’t related, but i was unsure if i was gonna make her like a younger sister. for now they’re cousins.

- i swear to god if i mixed up the maltese and polish flag for marilyn im gonna eat my desk no i will not factcheck we die like men

- scraps mentions having a mother, and since he also mentions wanting to take care of her, u kind of have to figure there’s no dad. i made her kind of weedy to suit it

- another mix of localisations, with tweeds and gus being the US and UK names respectively, so i thought why not mix them. actually makes for a good name right??

- we all know about nabbys runaway dad so it goes without saying there’s a single mama there

- also another US & UK crossover. ill b honest, i had a weird dream regarding this where it said roddy was his real name? but since nabby kinda implies the act of ‘to nab something’ it makes a good nickname for a pickpocket

- dont ask me why he’s scouse i can just feel it in my soul okay

- also canon has a dad which he mentions worked at the factory

- i was gonna make badger have a real normal name but like. i know someone mutually who’s real name is actually just badger which i find way funnier lol

- ofc we all know shackwell is louis’ dad, and that he’s canon the oldest too

- gave him a dead mum :(( felt that in my soul too. buuut shackwell mentions having a wife so. gotta slot that in somewhere u know.

- he fuckin looks welsh anol

- okay it took me fucking a whole year to realise wren is like. a pun on wrench to go with socket, but it’s 10 times funnier if her name is actually wrench and she hates it

- i actually made their last name nutten bc the US localisation has them saying ‘nuttin’ quite a lot and it weirdly fits. 

- socket mentions having a dog in the game, and his japanese name is pochi, which is also like the JP equivalent of ‘fido’ so thats a happy coincidence

- i dont know if its canon that wrens older? i feel like that’s mentioned somewhere. if not, it still works for the dynamic
