This wasn't planned, usually, if he ran into the other it was intended, usually a quick check on the kid to make sure he was doing well and leaving. He got Silver didn't like Rocket and probably didn't like him either.

So running him just wandering about was a surprise.

He raised a hand awkwardly in greeting Silver, wondering if he should turn tail.

For a brief moment, the entire world goes weird around the edges and Lance feels incredibly disoriented. It passes quickly, but the disorientation lasts a moment longer as he takes in the changed world around him.

It's the Dragon's Den, he recognizes that much. He also recognizes the child nearby.

He doesn't know why he's here though, when he'd been in Viridian Forest only a moment ago. Searching for the source of agitation among the pokemon in the area, in fact–had whatever it is been responsible for this? Likely.

he's terrifying. More than the other Executives. Second only to his father.

He's terrifying, and he hates that he still trembles only thinking of him.

was there ever a chance for it to go down differently? archer scolds himself silently whenever that thought dares to cross his mind. the situations in which it occurs vary from obvious to unexpected – from passing by the room silver used to call his own, to accidentally adding too much ketchup onto the omurice cooked in haste in the break room kitchen. the kid is rarely talked about anymore after all these years. even when he lived in the HQ, many only came across him once or twice on the hallway – but archer is once again cursed by his photographic memory, and the way he was there for several milestones that others weren't. the first steps, the first words, the first temper tantrums.

never once did he allow silver to witness that unspoken side of him, not until they faced each other in battle in the radio tower.

the passing thought makes the scalpel in his hand slip, the blade nicking onto his finger deeply enough to draw blood. a frustrated sigh is breathed out, the gloves dragged off. he'll finish it later. / @missingstarter
