Kickin It AU + Evie sketch
So if you’ve been following me on tumblr you know I have an in depth Descendents AU and a MBAV AU that I love… And I just rewatched a fav show of mine and instantly had a new AU crafted from thin air AGAIN! Third time this year bro…
A Kickin it AU…. Yeah I went crazy with this one. I literally dug up the most obscure one off characters to make this new AU. I’m so sad that this fandom is basically dead but tumblr is the place to do bullshit for fun so I will be doing that.
The guy above is Kai Brewer and if my AU inspires you to rewatch Kickin it I’m just going to warn you that Kai is only in two episodes of four seasons. In fact the main villains of my AU are made up of one off guest stars. Just like the fandoms of olden days…
Here are some sketches I WILL be reworking of Jack Brewer and Milton Krupnick respectively:
My AU is aged up to 18 because I relate to that age group. Kickin it is a show about a friend group doin karate and that’s it. If you know about the fandom you’re probably thinking “what about the will they won’t they between Jack and Kim?? 🥺” Honestly that plot line is the same as the will they won’t they for Sam and Freddie. That is to say it’s clear that nobody except the fandom cares about that. The writers add tidbits during some episodes and backtrack to keep the fandom watching and then they break up kinda.
Honestly I just see them as freinds and I almost think of Jake as aromatic but I literally head cannon everybody that way probably because I’m projecting so I dunno fam.
As for the AU I find that the Black Dragons were underutilized as direct parreles to the Wasabi Warriors. So I seek to rectify that. The only reoccurring black dragons throughout the first three seasons are Ty the Sensei and Rudy’s past best friend and Frank. A pedophile. Yeah that bitch is 19 and he’s obsessed with 14 yr old Kim. For no reason… he didn’t have to be 19. So obviously I fixed that bullshit.
The BDs are in universe considered the more prestigious Dojo as well as the most evil. They fight dirty in every competition shown in the show which parrales the Wasabi code which is all about honesty and fairness. ( even tho half the plots are about the WWs doing the opposite of that sometimes with no consequences lmao)
Kai is Jacks cousin and the only guy who was able to beat him. That’s significant as Jack is literally the most op guy in the whole show. Bro can take out 10 grown men by himself at the age of 15 in five minutes at most. So in my AU those two are parreles to each other. Cousins who trained together and who fell out long ago over different views on what martial arts is for. Both student leaders of their Dojos while also being mirrors of their senseis relationship. Their Sensies Rudy (Jack) and Ty (Kai) which also trained together but fell out because of a fart. (Fr bro and I will not be changing that cse it’s hilarious)
The rest of the Evil team are banded together after Jack beats their asses in the cannon of the show and they all mysteriously get envites to join the Black Dragon Dojo. Brody Carlson ( played by Billy Unger) gets a major change to the og. He got redeemed cause he was a guest star from Lab Rats but in my AU he stays bad because now he’s reoccurring. Jack hands his ass to him and he’s mad. He’s a parallel to Jerry as the third best in the dojo. Carson Hunter ( played by Boo Boo Stewart ) was originally a parallel to Jack as the liar reveal plot line. He was also a special guest star like Unger. Here he’s Kim’s parrallel as second best of his Dojo and due to the fact that he was Kim’s Jack before Jack who turned out to be a cheater. The reason I made him 2nd instead of first is because Kai is way more evil then him and had a bigger impact on Jacks life. Hes the reason Jack stoped doing Martial Arts for two years. And after that he tried to kill his cousin twice just so he couldnt get a trophy. Once with gang activity actually. All Carson does is like take Jacks place in one competition and use a tiny sand bag in his hand wraps that Jack exploded instantly with a single punch. Frank Bickle is a parallel to Milton Krupnick more like a smart guy verses dumbass type thing. Frank was portrayed often in the og show so I don’t have to explain him. He’s a dumb ass bully brute who Jack manhandles every chance he gets. Arther Turner (played by Sterling Beaurmon) is a parallel to Eddy. Arther was a rich, rude, and petty guy and I think that Eddy is a pretty down to earth and sweet person. Both of them are shit at karate though and it would be brutally unfair to pit them against all the other more capable characters. Arther definitely throws money at his problems lowkey.
At first all the villain characters don’t get along together so they can’t beat the WW who have the power of friendship and Jack on their side but as they slowly become freinds they get more dangerous. Like most of these characters were black belts or on par with Jack and their position as one offs led to them being shafted for how they could challenge the Wasabi crew. Here I can write fun dynamics for them and give Jack a massive run for his money which I believe he really needed. Like bro was INVINCIBLE there are no stakes, if someone goes against Jack it doesn’t matter. If you’re young, old, or what Jack will handle your ass quickly and will not break a sweat. Like don’t cross him or your ass is DONE.
Imagining an equally powerful group with a close bond who directly oppose and parallel them is really intriguing. It’s also more down to earth then my Descendants AU. I don’t have to deal with a massive magical world with magical powers. It’s a small town called Seabrooke with some rival Dojos engaging in classic teen rivalry shenanigans. There is no massive goal here except proving who’s better by the end of senior year’s competition season.
Imma do more of this AU cause I love it and I can’t let it go.
Also here’s Evie in da dress.
DAMNNNNN 👅
Ask questions about any AUs if you’d like. I love questions 😝!

A Comprehensive List of Spideyfist Interactions (pt.7)
Hello and welcome back to: reasons Spideyfist is canon. A series where I take you through each episode of The Ultimate Spiderman and show you why I believe that Peter Parker and Danny Rand are dating in canon, or at least that they are each other’s favorites- and also give you commentary on the show itself as I do
Warnings for: episode spoilers, season spoilers, action/injury description, unsolicited commentary, probable cussing, violence, caps lock
this part features episodes 14 through 20 of season 2
S2E14 The Incredible Spider-Hulk
- No notable interactions
- Fuck SHIELD and their bullshit Hulkbusters
~
S2E15 Ultimate Deadpool
- I'm not gonna lie to you, in the process of making this post, Tumblr glitched and I lost a lot of progress, this episode and the entire episode above. I'm not rewriting it, so the gist of the first 2 minutes is: I don't like that Deadpool just stole the show and the audience from Peter because Peter is "boring." I also don't like how Fury has set up the team against Peter.
- taking deep, calming breaths Shooting your ally/trainee in the back is akin to telling them that you cannot be trusted or relied on. Fuck Coulson.
- "Not impressed." Yeah, well, you shot your trainee in the back with zero warning or previous experience. Fuck you.
- Also, you can only hear Sam and Ava laughing in the laugh track, so honorable spideypowerfist mentions. Also counts to spideyfist
- You're showing your fucking favoritism you asshole. Do fucking better
- You are spraying it RIGHT IN HIS FACE
- "Somone explain. Now." Nova goes to explain "NOT Nova" Reason number whatever why I don't ship them
- If Peter replaced Deadpool in the show does that mean that Deadpool was the leader before Peter?
- Listen, I fucking love Deadpool in the movies and the comics, from what I've heard, are fucking superb. In this iteration? No. No, I hate him. I hate Deadpool and SHIELD in this show
- There is WAY too much emphasis on this alleged agent for me to believe a word Deadpool says.
- Peter is being singled out for training and it's disGUSTING
- There are no snitches among the Ultimates. Not today anyhow
- Deadpool is a liar and master of manipulation
- My poor dumb boy
- Okay, the more I rewatch, the more it becomes clear to me that Deadpool and Peter are supposed to be parallels or mirrors
- "I'll give you 1000 bucks for your brain!"
- "Sleep them with the fishes"
- "Nice of you to finally visit my school" Forshadowing~~~
- Okay I hate him but he's funny
- SEE? SEE???
- Deadpool is scary when he's actually trying
- "How about telling me the truth?"
- Deadpool's origin story is so wack
~
S2E16 Venom Bomb
~ Is this the-? looks at the episode number Oh, no. Not yet, I think.
- Saving the teammates like a boss!
- The nightmares Peter must have every time he faces the Goblin
- In the fight, Danny strikes after Peter, which counts
- Danny and Peter are standing RIGHT next to each other after a battle againnnn
- Peter WANTS to be able to take the win, but he knows his adversaries too damn well for that
- Hey, they're standing right next to each other again!
- Peter doing his best with Harry when he's Spiderman
- Ock just gets weirder and weirder looking the more time goes on
- They're gonna study the fucking symbiote but not try to find a cure for Osbourn?
- Infectious Venom disease!
- Goblin being absolutely AWFUL to Venom
- Where's the team in all this??
- One of the worst things you can do to Doc Ock's character is pretend he's evil for fun. This show doesn't do that, but the fact still stands
- And again I say, people forget that Peter is an accomplished chemist just the same as he's a wonderful hero
- Because you're Spiderman and Spiderman is a hero and you're a wonderful, selfless, brave person, Peter Parker
- Peter and Ock working together lmao
- Peter’s a goof, I love him
- At least Peter gets his damn props
~
S2E17 Guardians of the Galaxy
- Oh!! This episode indirectly has big evidence!!
- Peter using his abilities to shove garbage into the can
- PETER SEES A TALKING RACCOON AND ASSUMES HE LOST IT OMG
- Okay, so remember how in The Journey of Iron Fist, Peter follows Danny to his home country to find out what's going on and get Danny back? That's not exactly what's happening here. Peter was accidentally abducted in this one
- Peter was so fucking respectful and kind when regarding Danny’s home country and turf, but when it's Sam, he's snarky and complains the whole damn time
- Rocket is just so fucking casual about this
- See, even under attack, Peter is complaining about Sam getting him in trouble!
- Peter demands answers from Sam, he didn't do that with Danny, he was very calm and respectful when asking for answers with Danny
- Peter doesn't listen to a WORD Sam says ever, he's oblivious and not a good listener, reason number whatever why I ship what I ship
- It's literally only after he figures out Earth is a target that Peter decides to work with the Guardians
- Peter gives these "Ki-ya!" shouts that sound almost exactly like Danny’s
- This episode and The Jouney to K'un L'un are literally parallels
- Even if he doesn't LIKE Sam, Peter still considers Sam a friend, still loves Sam as a brother
- Peter didn't accept Danny going back to K'un L'un for a single second, but when Nova says he wants to stay with the Guardians, Peter accepts it without hesitation
- And then once Sam's back on Earth, Peter's right back to fucking with him like nothing ever happened
~
S2E18 The Parent Trap
- No notable interactions
-One of my favorite things that Luke does is he just fucking throws people for funzies. That's his whole thing, he THROWS people when he's fighting and needs to team up
- We're going through the team's backstories this season, which I think it's fun, and it's actually kinda funny
-Yes, Peter, 'parents' parents
-They're so fucking biased against Peter and it pisses me off
-I love the way these guys protect and look after each other, it's super cute and lovely
-See this is what happens when you start harping on your teenage heroes. They start ignoring you and don't listen when you try to offer important information
-Luke wanting a perfect reunion is so fucking relatable
-Spiderman only calls his friends by name on missions when it's important or in an emergency, the team members who know his identity don't call Peter by name unless off mission
~
S2E19 Stan By Me
-No notable interactions
~
S2E20 Game Over
-Danny talks about how fun the LMDs are and Peter immediately starts going into detail.
-I love that the team gets to go all out here
-Danny wants to retreat, Peter says "looks like we're gonna have to 'assess' with our fists" which I count because Peter's not the kind of guy to retreat even if it's deadly and he talks like he was going to agree
-Annd we're in a slow zoom (in the ready room lol) and Peter and Danny are sitting right next to each other

Seeing a lot of theories about them being trapped in a TV show type thing this season and it really does feel like it's starting to line up:
Space babies - kids TV show
The Devil's chord - Disney(?) (Is that a genre, I don't think it's a genre but I do think Disney thinks it's one - we've got 4th wall breaks, a queer coded villain and a musical number)
Boom - War drama (I've never seen any but the BBC always seem to have stuff of this ilk on)
73 Yards - This one I'm not sure if it even needs to fit the pattern due to lack of opening credits making it potentially different, but clearly it's in a different style (fairytale, folklore supernatural etc.) even if I don't know any direct parallels
Dot and Bubble - Black Mirror
Rogue - Bridgerton (they literally even play the same bad guy cover from it)
But then I'm like, if all this relates to Susan Twist we first see her in wild blue yonder, so how far back might this go?
And then I'm like remember that Avengers ass tower in the Giggle?
What if that is because the genre is the avengers or something (idk I also don't think that's a genre but again I think Disney might)? Like think about it instead of a 14 dying in the way they usually would, there's instead a fudge and he gets to settle down happily ever after outside of the main narrative - how fucking avengers core is that?
idk I'm just thinking some thoughts here

Weiss and Jaune: Chemical Wedding 2.0
Weiss and Jaune have begun another chemical wedding this season, and it parallels the second chemical weddings of Ren and Nora and Blake and Yang (Ruby and Oscar have still thus far only had their first).
Okay, okay, I'll back up. I previously wrote this about chemical weddings in RWBY. A chemical wedding is massively important for alchemy stories. It can be platonic, but is most often romantic. RWBY has, in particular, been using direct inspiration from classic alchemical art to illustrate when they've had one.
This scene in RWBY Volume 9 is no different.
Lyndy Abraham notes that
the chemical wedding... [has] the lovers frequently personified by Sol, and Luna, sun and moon. Edward Kelly wrote In this art you must wed the sun and moon.
Herb has a sun and moon symbol on him. Look at his chest. (Link goes to the more simplistic version, but the combined sun/moon is in the image below, from Manly Palmer Hall manuscript 14).
Not only that, but the framing emphasizes that Jaune is Sun and Weiss is moon. Jaune is in the sunlight. Weiss stands in the shadows. In alchemy, shadow is associated with the moon.
Chemical weddings also almost always involve elements of death. In fact, it is death as "Mercurius" that often unites them; in RWBY this is frequently an antagonistic character. Adam for Bumblebly, the Nuckelavee for Renora, and previous Cinder and now the Curious Cat for Weiss and Jaune.
For those who have had two weddings so far, Bumbleby and Renora, we see that their first and second chemical weddings were inverses of the first. Blake and Yang were first targeted by Adam and hurt. Then, they fought Adam and defeated him together. Ren and Nora saved each other but had to leave their village. Then, Ren and Nora defeated the Nuckelavee together.
In Weiss and Jaune's, Cinder taunted Jaune about letting Pyrrha die and about his own sense of self-importance/identity.
Jaune: What is wrong with you...? (seething) How can you be so broken inside... to take so many lives, and then come here and rub it in our faces like it's something to be proud of?!...
Cinder: (chuckling) I'm starting to remember you, you're the dense one that can't tell when he's out of his league....
Cinder: You're just a failure with a death wish.
Cinder also tells Jaune "are you going to let [Weiss] die too?" in reference to Pyrrha. She slides her gaze towards Weiss before throwing the spear at her. Guess what the Cat does?
The Curious Cat also taunts Jaune by appearing as Penny, and then as Pyrrha, mocking him with the two women whose deaths he feels responsible for. Plus, the dialogue between the Cat and Jaune reads very familiar.
Jaune: You... you didn't. You MONSTER... you were the one who killed--who LIED--
Curious Cat: You were never a brave knight either! Just more fairy tale nonsense!
Except, instead of Cinder hurting Weiss to hurt Jaune, this time the Cat gets Weiss to hurt Jaune directly.
These are all references to this classic chemical wedding art:
And this one depicting a chemical wedding occurring at a tree from a 17th century Speculum Veritatus (which, for what it's worth, means "Mirror of Truth" in Latin, and Weiss's song is called Mirror, Mirror... that's quite possibly a coincidence but it's so funny I had to mention it).
Anyways, chemical weddings typically involve most of the elements. This takes place on a tree (earth), Weiss shoots fire at him, and Jaune lands in a plume of purple air. We've got (most of) our elements.
What happens next? Well, each chemical wedding signifies a change in relationship. Ren and Nora embark on a journey together as kids, then hold hands. Bumbleby run away from each other (separation is a part of the process) and then start a romantic attachment before their final elevated chemical wedding this season (which we still haven't had for Renora yet). Weiss and Jaune become friends and start hanging out after the first one. I would bet this kickstarts a romantic attachment, especially since we've had a couple hints of Weiss developing attraction to Jaune this season.
Besides, Jaune's whole arc has been about being remade and refined from lead into gold. He healed Weiss in the last chemical wedding; I would bet Weiss heals him in a sense this time, but also that Jaune does in fact get remade into something fully gold this time... (and also someone young lol; he's clearly not staying old). Jaune getting a new body during a chemical wedding? Is also, well, alchemically sound.
Lyndy Abraham notes:
The separation of the soul from the body is to free it from its age-old attachment to the body so that it can transcend the turmoil and pull of the merely natural forces of matter. The separation of the soul is a kind of "death" to the world.... the subsequent reunion of this spiritual awareness with the new, purified body means that knowledge gained in a higher state of consciousness can now be put into action, made manifest in the phenomenal world. At this point the male and female energies are united and balanced...
Jaune and Weiss should be able to enter the world of Remnant in a new kind of equilibrium, a la Bumbleby and Renora in the past.

overall thoughts on s2?
ah. well. 😔 you know. i have so much to say really and generally, you can kinda tell how i feel about a season from how much i gif it versus how much i don't and same for each episode and character lmao. sorry for how long this is gonna be, i'm gonna split it up into general thoughts and then more character based thoughts:
overall:
if i had to sum up hotd s2, i would say two things come to mind immediately. the first is that, even with the show's heavy handed writing, i couldn't as an audience member understand where this season really was culminating. for me, there was an overall lack of tension that really drove towards a finale, in some sense it's a season that cuts short of where it should be going bc of the hbo limiting them to 8 episodes.
my other perspective is that, s1 gets a lot of flack for its speed and the significant jumps we make for characters, and yet i felt that this season actually did a far worse job juggling the appropriate amount of screen-time but also remaining consistent to the character's core motivations.
the 8 episode limitation i do think affected them for some characters. there are jumps in character motivations that are essentially a flick of a switch with no lead-up, certain storylines are really left loose and not tied up or fully reach a conclusion.
but more than that, the 8 episode limitation doesn't really matter. yes, it's limited screentime but it's still 8 hours of screentime. i've seen shows with that amount, or less, that have done a more coherent job with just better writing. ik a lot of people take issue with the show not having more "action" or battles (and some of it is probably valid!) but for me the prevalent issues where with character writing, allotting screen time and pacing.
overall, season 1 > season 2. for me, personally.
my favourite episodes were 2, 6, & 4. i do think they kinda messed up b&c but on rewatch i enjoyed it fine, still think there were some weird beats in it but phia does an amazing job. i think ep 7 was very well done but i'm not sold on the direction they're going with rhaenyra yet. weakest episodes for me were 3 & 8.
characters under cut:
warning: lot of criticism below so if you don't want to read negativity just stop here bc it's mainly me ranting about the bits i didn't like. tldr; aegon - best writing of the season, aemond & alicent - weakest writing of the season. that's not intended as character hate, it's intended as criticism of how the characters are written and utilised this season.
daemon:
i would have cut the harrenhal storyline. i know people like it, but what at first is a surprise to the audience quickly loses its luster when the contents of daemon's vision are nothing more than rehashing his season 1 storyline. and in a season of 8 episodes, you don't have time to waste somehow relitigating the same thing you have since your PILOT. it's really a fault of s1's writing for kinda putting daemon aside post episode 5, but even then what's the point? i have an issue with the harrenhal plotline because it's not believable — as an audience member, i don't expect daemon to betray rhaenyra and i don't buy that he will. the contents of the vision and daemon's reaction to them make it clear it is an obstacle for him to overcome, a lesson to learn let's say, rather than true temptation. in the meantime, the action in the riverlands stagnates and daemon is essentially made to look incompetent — rather than being able to muster an army for rhaenyra after the mistake of b&c and prove himself to her via his own actions, he loses their support, is essentially schooled by a 14(?) year-old and then an army amasses just in time for him to wake out of the visions which somehow (even when they're direct parallels or mirrors to scenes which took place in REAL life) have a more significant impact on him than, say, oh idk, the very real argument he had with his wife in episode 2.
rhaenyra/alicent/rhaenys/helaena:
this constant need to circle back to this show's primary understanding of women in power being "women are actually peacemakers who avoid bloodshed at all cost, and it's men who are driven to reckless violence and war" is actually regressive af and i don't care to see it. am i here to watch a tragedy or not, because if so the show needs to allow these elements play out for it to feel like one.
rhaenyra & alicent, & even more so rhaenys, are just pigeonholed into these women desirous of peace even when it's at the cost of the people they are supposed to LOVE most in their lives, and in doing so they no longer feel like relatable characters to the audience at times. this show is 10x better when it's female characters are allowed to be ugly, to rage and to be vengeful instead of becoming a living soapbox for the writers' "stop the violence" shtick. and helaena is right there along with them, phia saban is amazing during b&c (even if they managed to fuck that up too), and episode 2 as well, only for her grief to be resolved by episode 3 and then. then, the most staggering of all, by episode 8 her story culminates in a vision where she is bran-stark 2.0, all-knowing with her powers controlled (who knows how) but also more of a plot-device than a fully fledged character, there to apparently TELL daemon what to do (just like alys ofc, cause who knows what her backstory or motivation is. certainly not us).
i liked alicent and rhaenyra's relatonship in s1. it was fine. did i think it could cause potential issues down the line, yeah i did and i wasn't fully happy with the effect of aging down alicent to be a child-bride and a victim of marital rape, but i took it in stride. but this was their backstory. and that's how it should remain. we have 8 episodes of limited screentime, and really, if they had at least stuck with the actual friends-to-enemies that i assumed was the intent, it would be fine bc guess what — there IS a reunion in the book that they could have adapated perfectly fine. but instead, we are treated to not one, but TWO, two! reunions which are nonsensical, but more than that, are honestly...insultingly bad? i re-watched s1 directly before s2, and i also rewatched the first two episodes of s2 at one point and i have to say after episode 2 of s2, the show feels markedly different. even rhaenys death doesn't really have the impact it should? the characters just. don't act like themselves at times, and idk what it is - the lack of a court environment? the lack of domesticity and characters being separated? dialogue that is driven more by s1 plot points than what just occured last episode?
alicent. well. idk what to say. the amount of screentime that is given with giving olivia nothing to do is awful. it's three times the screen-time aemond gets for example. i'll say no more bc ik people love alicent and olivia, but the writing for alicent was appallingly bad this season - truly a disservice to the character. abandoning larys & alicent's relationship was a mistake, as she no longer even attempts to cling onto power, and once otto leaves in episode 2 there's no one for her character to essentially play off of, leaving for the most lackluster of writing. oh well.
idc about those reunions at all. i was kinda taken aback by having two, which i think undercut each other tbh, but i knew at least one would happen. and i expected the tension and energy of 'driftmark' not whatever this was. and the acting couldn't save it for me, alas.
aegon/aemond/criston/gwayne:
aegeon received the best writing this season by far. i would say its a marked improvement from the writing in s1; aegon still feels like a continuation of s1!aegon (pathetic, a drunk, incompetent and crude), but given more depth and range, with a storyline that takes him from an incompetent king, all the way through his grief, to realising he is nothing more than a pawn to his family, and to the betrayal at rook's rest after which changes him significantly and sets the stage for the third season. aegon & larys' relationship too is a standout, because it's the only part of the show that bothers with political intrigue the way it's predecessor did. the rest is abandoned.
aemond is given. well. almost no writing or screentime! i'm not really a big fan of aemond in many ways (if i could be more honest, i really don't care for him at all), but really, the guy has barely any more screen-time than he does in s1, even though he's not only a) partially responsible for the outbreak of this war (cutting the f&b scene where he informs his family was insanity.), but b) literally becomes REGENT in episode 5. the brothel plotline as an aside to justify his betrayal of aegon was unnecessary tbh, it dislocated him from the main plotline. for those first 3 episodes he feels like he has no presence in a story, even after b&c has happened. he literally commits the act of burning an entire town (sharp point) off screen. we don't see it! only the aftermath!
criston, criston, criston. tbh, i was pleasantly surprised by criston at certain points of the season (i do think he had more screentime than he should have though) — he is a FAR better and more interesting character once you remove him from the confines of the red keep. putting him opposite someone like gwayne made for much better screentime than his lackluster, completely passionless romance with alicent.
speaking of which, i thought alicole would at the very least has some effect — lying to aegon's face about what happened during b&c, helaena finding out, larys figuring it out. but no. the only confrontation comes from gwayne of all people as cole sniffs a handkerchief, and which is of no consequence. so much for 'political intrigue' right.
gwayne: a welcome addition and freddie fox is brilliant. that's all.
jace/baela/rhaena/corlys/dragonseeds/mysaria....and etc:
jace after aegon is the most consistently written character imo. harry did a good job for the most part i think, you feel that jace has gone from a teenager to someone on the cusp of adulthood, a dutiful heir, stricken by insecurity and affected by his brother's loss but also who deeply desires to fight for his mother and his own claim after hers. i wish we spent a bit more time with him in the north or the vale, but at least we know he went and achieved something, plus the idea of the dragonseeds comes from him — he definitely stepped into his own this season.
baela & rhaena: should have both received more screentime. baela's scene with corlys was good, i wish more of the scenes centred around baela's feelings as opposed to jace but i did like it even if it felt a bit overacted at times. as for rhaena? phoebe is such a good actor (honestly a standout in the minor screentime she gets), but gets so little writing even now. i can only hope we actually see rhaena claim sheepstealer and that it isn't another scene relegated to offscreen.
corlys: steve is one of the best actors in the show and he is underutilised this season imo. he is confined to that shipyard, and although his interactions with alyn are well-written, it still leaves him removed from the rest of the action. he teleports between there and dragonstone, but it's not until the last episode that you really get the sense that he's rhaenyra's hand even though he has been since episode 5 — he should have been present at dragonstone much more and earlier, and addam and alyn moved to dragonstone earlier to allow for more interaction too imo.
mysaria: clearly not her book counterpart, but i enjoyed her story this season a lot. do i think it's a bit on the nose the way mysaria speaks of rhaenyra as a cue for the audience but i'm hopeful it goes in a more interesting and nuanced depiction and in the meantime, i enjoyed their screentime
dragonseeds: meh. honestly, hugh's backstory is very cliche and i found his wife a far more interesting character but maybe that's just me, at the very least he's likeable and GETS a backstory. idc about ulf, at all bc idk who he is and his sole trait atm is being irreverent and in a story where you are personally attached to the characters he is insulting it doesn't make you sympathetic to him really (which is fine), but i would have rather seen rhaena claim sheepstealer which we built up all season, than watch ulf fly on silverwing for the simple purpose of having aemond see it so that he can become aware of rhaenyra's dragonseeds.
who gives a fuck about the triarchy and how jason lannister got them btw. just have that first meeting, even the 2nd mud fighting one okay but a THIRD scene in which he sings and gets asked to fuck someone's wives? this is a narrative choice that's being made, they could have just as easily had the triarchy capitulate and side with jason, but instead i'm treated to his aside of adventures in essos which would be fine but it's the FINALE and we need for these stories to culminate and you are giving me almost (almost) got-level writing.
anyways. sorry for all of this. i don't mean it to be hateful it's just me ranting 😭😭😭

AI-Generated Misinformation And Fake News
Is Rooted In Yellow Journalism.
youtube
Fake news started when Hemp was called Marijuana.
In today's digital era, governments worldwide are utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to influence public opinion and suppress opposing viewpoints online. A recent study by Freedom House highlights the concerning surge of AI-generated misinformation, it is reminiscent of Yellow Journalism, an infamous tactic pioneered by media tycoon William Randolph Hearst. Many people today are unaware that the first federal anti-marijuana laws in 1937 came about, in part, because of William Randolph Hearst’s lies and his invention of Yellow Journalism newspaper articles and editorials about how evil marijuana was, which from then on were cited in Congressional testimony by Harry Anslinger as facts.
The annual Freedom On The Net report evaluates global internet freedom, uncovering a troubling trend of diminishing freedom fueled in part by the proliferation of AI. What was once hailed as a tool for creativity has now been weaponized by governments to disseminate false information and silence dissenting voices.
In nations like Venezuela, government-controlled media channels leverage AI-generated content to spread biased narratives, mirroring Hearst's historical manipulation of public perception. This contemporary form of propaganda, coupled with traditional strategies such as human and bot campaigns, poses a significant threat to internet freedom and democratic dialogue.
Furthermore, the normalization of AI-generated content erodes trust in reliable information, leading to what experts term the ‘liar's dividend’. As AI technology becomes more accessible, political entities can undermine factual information, eroding public trust in verified data.
Authoritarian regimes, in particular, exploit AI to tighten censorship and shape online narratives. Governments worldwide have enacted laws requiring internet platforms to implement AI-driven moderation tools, stifling dissent and limiting access to crucial information.
As advocates for ending industrial hemp prohibition and legalizing medical cannabis, it's vital to recognize the parallels between historical propaganda and modern misinformation campaigns. By raising awareness of the link between AI manipulation and media censorship, we can empower ourselves to combat disinformation and uphold truth and transparency in our digital society.
FAKE NEWS ushered in The 1937 Marijuana Tax Act.
In the past century, the United States government has concealed crucial information about industrial hemp, substituting it with biased narratives shaped by vested interests, including the fossil fuel, pharmaceutical, and paper industries, along with various government officials.
One notable instance is the film Hemp for Victory, crafted by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) during World War II. Released in 1942, this 14-minute monochrome short film extolled the diverse applications of hemp and urged farmers to maximize cultivation.
Surprisingly, until 1989, 'Hemp for Victory' remained largely obscure. The US government denied its existence, asserting that no such film was ever produced by the USDA or any government branch. Nonetheless, two VHS copies surfaced and were contributed to the Library of Congress on May 19, 1989, by Jack Herer, a pioneer of the Hemp Movement.
The lone known copy in 1976 was a 3/4" broadcast quality version initially acquired by William Conde from a Miami Herald reporter and the Ethiopian Zion Coptic Church of Jamaica. In 1988, it was entrusted to Jack Herer with the intent to disseminate it widely.
The media landscape today is heavily influenced by a handful of conglomerates, as only six companies control global media outlets.
During the holiday season in 2016, President Obama ratified the 2017 National Defense Authorization Act, concealing a significant infringement on our liberties. Nestled within this Act was the 'Countering Foreign Propaganda and Disinformation Act,' an unprecedented collaboration among the Senate, Congress, and White House.
This legislation constitutes a direct assault on the First Amendment, granting the government authority to arbitrate truth and designate what constitutes fake news. Any content diverging from their standards risks being labeled as propaganda or disinformation, subjecting its creators to punitive measures.
Under this framework, media entities like CNN can assert themselves as official government news sources, conferring upon them privileges inaccessible to average citizens. While CNN can lawfully possess classified documents like WikiLeaks' disclosures, ordinary individuals in possession of such documents face arrest. Consequently, accessing authentic information necessitates reliance on government-approved sources.
In essence, the parallels between historical efforts to suppress hemp-related information and contemporary censorship underscore the importance of advocating for internet freedom and challenging misinformation campaigns. By understanding the link between past propaganda tactics, such as Yellow Journalism, and present-day misinformation facilitated by AI, we can empower ourselves to defend truth and transparency in our digital society. Let's unite in championing internet freedom and combating efforts to suppress dissent, ensuring equitable access to accurate information for all.

See above if you missed my first reblog/reply.
I was entirely too curious to research it for you.
(Threshold Tricks Main Link)
The Door Trick messes things up since I am reasonably sure it is supposed to be considered simultaneous when completed even if a clothing touch is seen first. That was already my own guess, but I took a look at my screenshots from each cut, again out of curiosity. The touch subtly changes between each cut it is seen. So, that just makes me think yes, it is indeed supposed to be simultaneous. But if one determines it is not simultaneous since it's not like we have an active referee here, then a parallel could be found between it and the pub going multiplicative-adjective-by-multiplicative-adjective. You just add 2 to my "MA" notes below and sort it as you see fit.
...
Going touch-by-touch and considering The Door Trick simultaneous, the parallel to the pub is here:
That's the Single of The Pocket Trick, when Crowley returns from escorting Maggie and Nina out.
....
Going multiplicative-adjective-by-multiplicative-adjective and considering The Door Trick simultaneous, the parallel to the pub is here:
That's the Double made of two Doubles for The Sunglasses Trick, finishing things up as the last complex trick of the season and the first of the last three for The Final Fifteen.
...
Saying screw it, The Door Trick is not simultaneous, the parallel is somewhere in here, which is The Door Trick, going multiplicative-adjective-by-multiplicative-adjective:
...
Full notes, for reference, will let you know of any corrections since I make mistakes all the time:
Touch #1:
Perfect Entrance Single
(one foot to the sidewalk)
Touch #2:
Perfect Entrance Double
(four fingers on the car door panel and window frame)
Touch #3:
Perfect Entrance Triple
(three digits on the coffee shop threshold)
Touch #4:
The Sunglasses Trick Double #1
(one hand, both end pieces, dark horse statue, both doors are opened)
Touch #5:
The Sunglasses Trick Triple-to-Eventual-Single 1
(summoned to Hell, blurry mirror)
Touch #6:
The Sunglasses Trick Triple-to-Eventual Single 2
(returned to bookshop, desk, bell)
Touch #7:
The Bigger Thresholds Trick Double
(pub, two posts)
Touch #8:
The Sunglasses Trick Single-to-Eventual Triple 1
(different sunglasses and hissing, Jane Austen book)
Touch #9:
The Sunglasses Trick Single-to-Eventual-Triple 2
(different sunglasses and hissing, , crows to goats)
Touch #10:
The Pocket Trick Triple Part 1
(short sideburns, between building windows, before encountering Nina)
Touch #11:
The Pocket Trick Triple Part 2
(short sideburns, between cars, after encountering Nina, "Do you need a lift somewhere?")
Touch #12:
The Pocket Trick Double
(music shop, two pockets, between door frames and papers)
Touch #13:
The Bigger Thresholds Trick Single
(music shop, one sign)
Technically, #12 and #13 are happening at the same time but since The Pocket Trick Double has some preparation before entry, that's why I put it first.
Touch #14:
The Pocket Trick Triple Part 3, Triple is done
(short sideburns, between car windows, inviting Justine)
Touch #15:
The Sunglasses Trick Single-to-Eventual-Triple 3, now a primary Triple
(different sunglasses and hissing, glass of red wine)
Touch #16:
The Bigger Thresholds Trick Triple
(Heaven elevator, three buttons)
Touch #17:
The Pocket Trick Single
(astragal; between door windows)
Touch #18:
The Sunglasses Trick Triple-to-Eventual Single 3, now a primary Single
(held, no earthly objects touched)
(not hissing, present day, no earthly objects touched when removed)
Touch #19:
The Sunglasses Trick Double #2, now a primary Double
(put on, both doors are closed)
Touch #20:
The Door Trick Single, Double, and Triple are simultaneous, I believe.
(single accessory touch with the watch, double clothing touch with the jacket and pants, double multiplier due to legs being crossed, triple skin contact touch with the wrist and hand, triple multiplier due to middle, ring, and pinky fingers collectively together)
Touch #21:
The Window Trick Double Part 1
(Nina's window, Step 3 averted)
Touch #22:
The Window Trick Single
(middle finger on edge between door panel and roof, magical lens flares, partial rainbows, possible eventual rainbow)
Touch #23:
The Window Trick Double Part 2
(Maggie's window, step 3 averted)
Touch #24:
The Window Trick Triple
(open car window combined with sunglasses, step 3 cancelled)
~~~
These are ordered by completion, not when started. Even if re-ordered by when started, the parallel then ends up as the Single in The Pocket Trick, as going by touches did.
MA 1:
Perfect Entrance Single
Worthy Brief - August 25, 2023
Radiate His glory!
Psalms 27:1,5,14 Of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? 5 For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will lift me high upon a rock. 14 Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!
Traditionally in Jewish spirituality, these 40 days of prayer and repentance beginning the 1st of Elul to Yom Kippur parallel the 40 days that Moses spent on the mountain [Exodus 34:28] pleading God's forgiveness for Israel's sin of creating and worshiping the golden calf. Interestingly, Psalm 27 is read each day of the month of Elul, along with the shofar blast in preparation for Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement).
Ancient Jewish sages teach that Elul is an intense season of repentance and reckoning, preparing for a direct "face to face" encounter with God. Their belief is that such repentance qualifies us to be in right standing with the Almighty, able to speak to Him without any hindrances, "face to face" as Moses did as God's friend; [Exodus 33:11]. Moses waited on the LORD for 40 days until his face radiated the glory of God; so the daily exhortation in Psalm 27 "Seek my face" [verse 8], serves for them as an exhortation during this season, with the expectation of a divine encounter.
How does seeking God's face in the presence of enemies (the major theme of Psalm 27) relate to Moses' 40 days on Mount Sinai? Simply that the sin of Israel's idolatrous worship opened the door for God's judgment, often manifested as enemy invasion. And turning back to Him was the only sure protection. Moses did this as an intercessor for the nation, as such, typifying the intercessory work of the Messiah, descending from the mountain radiant with the glory of God on His face, and carrying a second presentation of YHVH's word, the Ten Commandments.
We know, however, that repentance alone, no matter how fervent or persistent, does not qualify us for a "face-to-face" encounter with God and that the Law of Moses is insufficient to provide for us the righteousness God requires for intimate communion with Him. In fact, the apostle Paul describes the covenant of Moses: "…the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones…[2 Corinthians 3:7], even though it appeared with the glory of God on His servant's face.
But, "..we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord;" [2 Corinthians 3:18]. Beholding the glory of Messiah, waiting on Him in this, or any season, will cause us to radiate His nature, presence, and love. This is the amazing glory of the New Covenant in His blood, access to the very presence of God through Yeshua the Messiah. Spend time in His Presence, radiate His glory.
Have a great weekend! Shabbat Shalom!
Your family in the Lord with much agape love,
George, Baht Rivka, Obadiah and Elianna (Dallas, TX) (Baltimore, MD)
"You loved me, but in your heart there's something else before me."
How season 14 is Foreshadowing the Destiel talk
Hello my dear fandom, I rewatched properly the last episode, and I have to say... Many things had been written... And I was looking for Cas again... And hell yeah he was everywhere again!
This is another romantic post bc the last episode was talking about love all the time WRONG TOXIC LOVE AND TRUE AND REAL LOVE.
Let's see...
The talk? The moves?
Ok, we had innocent Jack asking this two question, he is ignorant about flirtation or love, so he is there with the best teacher: Dean Winchester.
This two questions caught my attention bc is reflecting what we were waiting since season 12 and more in season 13 to happen: THE TALK and THE MOVES.
The last episode (Nightmares Logic) we had Mary mirroring Cas all the time, and this particular conversation with Sam about how to talk with AUBobby. So I was thinking, are they Foreshadowing a real Destiel talk? And now after watching this episode I must say... Yes. They are.
This two specific terms... THE TALK and THE MOVES, are two things that Dean and Cas should finally do. But... What is blocking them to do it? Ok.. let's find out...
Dean thinks Cas doesn't love him in that way.
Gif credit @archangelgabriellives
And this fe
Gif credit @littlehobbit13
I had to put all this entire scene bc... Ok look at this, that's what Dean thinks about how Cas feels about him... Why he thinks Cas doesn't love him in the same way?? CAS already told him he loves him, but it was confuse, that time in the barn it was confused, Cas didn't get the words wrong but the attitude, he said "I love you" to Dean and immediately he turns to Sam and Mary and said the same line, SO DEAN THINkS CAS LOVES HIM AS FAMILY.
Since then, we had increased and failed intentions of talk. Dean closed more inside, repressing more and more his feelings, showing the "no homo" attitude he always had with Cas. And the fears.
Son in this scene we see how innocently, Jack describe the way Harper looked at him, "She was looking at me with those googly eyes" and Dean trying to cut "that crap" bringing reality to the topic "She is not in love with you" and "That's not how it works."
... this isn't enough to Dean. To Dean LOVE IS MORE THAN THAT. Love is DEEPER, AND CRAZY, AND SUFFERING, AND HAPPINESS, AND AND... Damn...
Dean is accepting he's in love. That he loves a man, Cas. He is in knowledge about this. He is learning to live with it... But he's struggling all the time inside beacuse of this, so things like googly eyes, or like hooking up (as Roweena and Gabe did) or even he hooking up with random waitress... "That's not how it works." He's talking with authority here, bc he knows what is truly love someone. And the following scene here...
Gif credit @mishalocked24
... he is showing us a lot but... Did you stop just a second to see... How Dean is talking about the "L" while smiling (thinking about his love) with that goofy smile that we make when we think about our love interest??
HE IS TALKING ABOUT THE "L" WORD PEOPLE!!!
And he is saying that Love is crazy, being in love is to be crazy, is loosing control of yourself, is doing crazy things. You are not thinking bc you are crazy for that person. He's the professor here, my friends.. he is TALKING ABOUT THE L WORD BC HE IS ACCEPTING THE LOVE IN HIS LIFE. THE LOVE HE FEELS FOR CASTIEL.
Harper as a mirror of Dean's journey in love.
"She is bad luck."
Ok, when I heard this, I said, this is Dean. Is Dean!! He feels HE IS BAD LUCK BC EVERYTHING HE TOUCHES IT BREAKS. Every single person that came to his life, that was part of his family, died. As Crowley said once.. he is bad luck. ANOTHER IMPEDIMENT TO SHOW HIS LOVE AND TO TALK ABOUT IT WITH CAS. He feels he doesn't deserve this, bc he is bad luck.
After this we were introduced into Harper's department... And it was so so Dean's inner desire of being loved! First of all, there were GREENS COMBINED WITH BLUE IN EVERY WALL. (Dean and Cas) and a red heart, and a legend: "Amore" love in Italian. And a blue couch in front of a red couch. And the bedroom was all in green and on the bed there were stuffed animals, so so innocent look about LOVE, so princess like. Waiting for being loved.
And I thought, this is Dean's head about love. He WANTS TO BE LOVED IN THIS INNOCENT WAY BC HIS HEART IS PURE AND INNOCENT as I said bf in my other metas.
Now... Here comes the spec and the sadness...
Foreshadowing the Destiel talk (again) and perhaps... A possible lovers separation.
"He left? Without you?"
And then I heard Jack saying this meanwhile Harper told him her love story. And I was like... Ok... What is this... And my mind, immediately, run with this...
Gif credit @hunenka
Mary... Mirroring Cas... And Dean saying goodbye to her and wishing her happiness... But this is not all the thing...
Sam was trying to convince AUCharlie to stay in the bunker bc "people needs people", and bc Charlie was sis u're of leave, Sam throws this line...
"Don't go"
So I thought... Another foreshadow!
Then yes we are having foreshadow for the Destiel talk but for a lovers separation too?
Now that I accepted my love for you...
And we had that zombie (Vence) in red too, representing Toxic Masculinity, and wrong love, and old Dean all at once (as was with all the monster we've had so far) and Jack trying to convince Harper that he was her true love. And Dean talking with this zombie telling "This is not love!" Ofc it isn't Dean! So kill your toxicity right now!
And then was Harper again, dressed in green... (New Dean, healing Dean) writing a love letter to her true love (Jack) and I saw this with hope in my eyes... But then i payed attention to the song that was playing...
"We are from differents worlds,
We travel for two differents path,
You loved me but in your heart
There's something else before me.
If we can't live together
Is better to live separated.
You'll go your own way, and I'll go mine.
The two of us starting from zero."
Sorry if the lyrics are wrong I translated from Spanish to English but the message is the same and it's clear... It talks about two lovers that must be apart... And IDK why yet but something is telling me that, there will be a Destiel talk... A blow out and a goodbye, be happy scene...
I hope this isn't going to be for ever... And just some episodes bc we need Dean and Cas to be happy, but if they are separate from each other... Well... They are not gonna be so...
And this is related too with the TV guide resume from Byzantium (14x08) where Cas goes to Heaven doing an enormous sacrifice... I was talking with @gneisscastiel about this and she has such interesting spec about this!
Ok... This is it my friends... I know, I know... This is a little sad but... Let's be positive and let's imagine Destiel becoming canon through this! Awwwww I need so much a huge and strong Destiel scene!
Oh! Aaaand all the parallels with the first encounter with Cas will be written in other post!
I like to put my ideas I diferentts meta and focus one by one! But I think you already know that. 😉
Ok... Tagging some friends here..
Narrative Mirror Characters in Supernatural – An Overview for the Uninitiated.
Mirror characters have always been a classic story telling device. The purpose of a mirror character is to reflect on the main characters journey and emotional state and to provide lessons for the main character to learn. Mirror characters in TV and movies can also be used for foreshadowing purposes and encourage the audience to question the main characters path.
A famous example would be Frodo Baggins and his narrative mirror Gollum in The Lord of the Rings. Gollum is a dark mirror for Frodo in that he represents everything that Frodo could become if he succumbs to the power of the One Ring. Frodo’s present is Gollum’s past as Smeagol, and throughout the books Frodo becomes more and more aware of his fate as he grows closer to Gollum/Smeagol and makes the decision to try to save him as a reflection of his desire to save himself.
Narrative mirrors are everywhere and widely used in all forms of storytelling. To deny them, is to deny basic storytelling tropes. Sometimes the narrative mirrors are extremely, painfully obvious, and other times they are quite subtle and have only a very minor meaning in the greater story.
Supernatural is a series which has used narrative mirror characters quite extensively throughout its long history. It frequently uses mirror characters to provide an additional layer to the emotional journeys of its lead characters to encourage emotional growth. Supernatural also often uses mirror characters to highlight unspoken main character storylines which support subtextual themes as well as foreshadowing potential future plot outcomes.
Supernatural relies so heavily on its narrative character mirrors, that recently in episode 14x04 Mint Condition it gave its viewers a textual lesson on character mirrors straight from its lead characters mouths:
Gif Source: (x)
DEAN (Pointing at Samantha): She’s like your twin.
[SAM pushes his hair back just as SAMANTHA does the same.]
SAM: What? What are you talking about?
DEAN: Soft, delicate features, luxurious hair. She’s like your wonder twin.
SAM: Yeah.
[A man, DIRK, is crouching in front of the comic book stands picking up comics. He has a lollipop in his mouth. SAM points to him.]
SAM: Well, okay, if that’s me then that’s you over there.
DEAN: That guy?
SAM: Yeah.
DEAN: Yeah, we have zero in common
(The scene then proceeds to show just how much Dean has in common with Dirk)
Following this fun scene, the episode continues to show how much Sam and Dean have in common with their mirror characters in many ways, including a moving moment between Dirk and Dean in which Dirk talks about how important his friend Stuart is to him. (Stuart who was first introduced in this episode wearing a tan trench coat similar to the classic coat worn by Castiel – Dean’s best friend).
From this blatantly obvious in-show commentary, we can infer how the Supernatural creators like to present their mirror characters and how we, the audience, can keep a look out for them. The key indicators are as follows:
Similar clothing - Character clothing choices are very important in this show. The brothers are almost always dressed in plaid and what Castiel would probably call “lumberjack chic”. Castiel always wears a tan trenchcoat, formal attire, white shirt, blue tie. His mirrors are pretty much the easiest to spot. Arguably any side character wearing a tan trenchcoat is a mirror for Castiel.
Siblings – Where side characters are siblings, they are mirrors for Sam and Dean.
Parent/Child pairs – Less common, but also often a comment on Sam and Dean’s dynamic, Dean being the parent to Sam.
Immortal characters with a sympathy to humanity – usually a Cas mirror.
Tastes/interests – Like with Dirk, if a side character appears who the main characters bond with over mutual interests, the chances are they are a mirror for the main character in question.
Storylines; depending on overarching season plots – less obvious, but sometimes the most interesting. Characters that appear in standalone episodes that have an emotional tie to the mytharc plot of the season usually serve to give lessons to the main characters. Those characters will stand in for the main characters when dealing with their own emotional turmoil, which will usually be similar in theme to the emotional turmoil that the main characters are going through. Consider Ed and Harry from 9x14’s #Thinman episode - such a blatantly obvious Winchester mirror that it should need no explaining here.
By taking all these various indicators into consideration when watching any episode of Supernatural, it becomes rather easy to spot the character mirrors and depending on the actions and plot purpose of those mirror characters, we can usually conclude their purpose and the connection to the overall mytharc, or in some cases character development plot.
I’m about to pull out some big examples so you can use those as templates to go forth and find the mirrors! But my main point in this post is to argue that meta writers aren’t pulling this stuff out of our asses. Character mirrors are a story telling technique that is used frequently and with clear author intent. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you are seeing things when you believe that characters are meant to be mirrors. It is far more likely that they ARE intended mirrors than not.
I recently came across these tweets on Twitter:
Mark Harris is a former Entertainment Weekly executive editor and author of several books on Hollywood and the film industry.
Brian Koppelman is the co-creator and showrunner of the TV show “Billions” and has worked in the TV and Film industries for over two decades.
I would hazard a guess that both of these individuals have a greater authority on the inner workings of TV show production than YOU or I or anyone else in this fandom about to scream those immortal and highly ridiculous words “yOu ArE rEaDiNg InTo ThInGs!”
But by all means, if you are going to disregard my post as nothing more than a “crazy” fan trying to claim author intent where there is none, perhaps you could first take a look below the cut, because these mirror characters in SPN are hardly coincidence, and the general motto to run by is that if some characters are definitely mirrors, then the chances are that wherever you THINK you see a character mirror, and it makes logical sense, the INTENT was for you to see a character mirror all along.
So therefore, never disregard a fan interpretation of a narrative character mirror when they see one.
If you do, you are going to look like a huge jackass.
Please keep reading for glaringly obvious Destiel character mirrors along with some nice brother character mirrors for comparison. We ain’t kidding around folks.
First of all, lets consider some examples where Supernatural has used narrative mirror characters specifically to highlight Sam and Dean’s emotional growth.
A recent and very obvious example is from 14x12.
The brothers interview Eddie, the twin brother of a murdered man in a case they are investigating. Eddie is distraught by his brother’s murder, and he says the following:
“I can’t believe he’s gone. We were close. Best friends. Alan always said he was my big brother, ‘cause he was born first. By, like, four minutes. Losing him is like losing a part of myself. I never knew it could be this bad.”
In this situation, Eddie is a clear Sam mirror character, because his emotional response to his brother Alan’s death is exactly what Sam’s would be if he were to lose Dean. Dean, in this scenario, is the one learning the lesson. He is having to witness through a character mirror the pain that Sam would go through upon Dean’s suicide. This reflects the current mytharc plot in which Dean has chosen a suicide mission of locking himself away with the archangel Michael in order to prevent Michael’s escape.
This is a simple mirror which specifically relates to the theme of the episode. However, other character mirrors have a wider lesson in mind. Another recent episode that used character mirrors for the brothers was 13x12 Various and Sundry Villains.
In this episode, the brothers come up against a pair of villainous witch sisters. The sisters are determined to bring their mother back from the dead and will stop at nothing to succeed. The sisters are dark Winchester mirrors in that they symbolise the lengths the brothers will go to in order to save themselves and their family – putting their own goals above the safety of the world. This episode took place during a season 13 mytharc plot in which the Winchesters own mother Mary was trapped in an apocalyptic universe and the Winchesters were looking for a way to save her (and Jack) regardless of warnings from Death herself that no good would come from jumping universes.
It was also a wider commentary on the Winchesters own toxic co-dependency – a theme that has been running within the subtext of the show since Season 8 which portrays the brothers co-dependent relationship as a negative force in their universe and something that they need to break free of – a theme which has been building quite nicely in these later seasons.
The episode 13x12 ends with the witch sisters horrifically murdering each other whilst under a spell in a scene which symbolically shows just what could happen to the Winchester boys if they don’t free each other from their own toxic relationship.
This was a prime example of character mirrors have a deeper message in terms of their relation to the main characters and their overall character journeys on the show.
Sam and Dean have had mirror characters established in the show since the early seasons. One obvious example was in 1x18 Something Wicked This Way Comes which prominently features a young boy called Michael who feels responsible for his little brother Asher. Michael is an obvious Dean mirror used to emphasise Dean’s loss of innocence at a young age due to the boy’s early introduction to monsters by their father.
Many of the early season character mirrors were used to provide backstory for Sam and Dean such as this one, or to provide dark foreshadowing (like used with Frodo and Gollum) for Sam particularly with the “Special Children” throughout seasons 1 and 2.
In the later seasons, character mirrors are more likely to be used to either provide Sam and Dean with emotional lessons, or highlight their co-dependency as a negative force.
See, its quite simple so far right? Would you actually deny that these characters were Winchester mirrors? You can possibly argue with my interpretation, but you can’t really argue against the mirrors themselves, that much is obvious.
Now is where it gets interesting. Because whilst you may have no problem seeing mirror characters for Sam and Dean in the show, would you feel the same way if I was to present you with an EVEN LARGER mountain of evidence for mirror characters for Dean and Cas?
Another frequent use of character mirrors within the show in the later seasons is to highlight a potential romantic partnership between Dean and Castiel. This is a controversial opinion and one many viewers of the show either ignore or adamantly deny. However, arguably you can’t pick and choose your meta in this show. If you agree with one set of thematic mirrors, you must surely admit to the same filming techniques being used elsewhere. If mirrors exist between Sam and Dean, they must also exist between Dean and Cas, and sometimes those mirrors are just as blatantly obvious, if not more so.
One prominent example (and probably the most obvious) comes from episode 9x20. Written by the current showrunner Andrew Dabb, this episode was an attempt at a spin off show with a completely new set of characters. One part of this episode included a love story between monster characters David and Violet.
Please refer to this post: http://bluestar86.tumblr.com/post/178577156431/i-cant-recall-where-but-i-read-somewhere-that-a for further detail about this character mirror. Because it’s so obvious its laughable.
The basic mirror is that David is Dean. He is the son of a powerful monster family in Chicago who is pulled back into the war when his brother Sal is murdered. “David” = Dean, “Sal” = Sam. Get it? That’s one clear mirror. The back story alone is obvious enough.
Violet is the daughter of another powerful monster family, one that is actively antagonising the others and supports the war. She spends most of the episode wearing this:
Violet is clearly our Castiel mirror. A daughter of a troublesome monster family that wants to start war, but who tries to prevent that because of her love for one of the other families sons? Its Romeo and Juliet but it is also very Dean and Cas.
The turbulent relationship between David and Violet is told using lines previously spoken between Dean and Cas word for word, but in an obviously romantic way (because heterosexual romance is irritatingly obvious even when using lines previously given to “just bros”). Seriously, go read the linked post and just TRY to deny this mirror.
One of the more recent obvious DeanCas mirrors in the show comes from season 14 between Mary Winchester and AU!Bobby. In the episode immediately following 14x04’s lesson in recognising mirror characters in Supernatural Mary and Bobby show up to put our mirror recognition to the test.
Mary has been used as a mirror character for Castiel and vice versa since she was reintroduced to the show in season 12. In terms of the key indicators, she has often been seen wearing a tan trenchcoat, or a general tan coat with white and blue clothing (her clothing is often coded for Castiel) as well as her emotional journey being tied to his in her struggle to find belonging among her family.
AU!Bobby is a Dean mirror. His story very closely compares to many of Dean’s storylines over the years, including Purgatory and being traumatised by the loss of his son (a canonical fact being that both Sam and Dean acknowledge that Dean raised Sam and was practically his only parental figure).
The romance between him and Mary is still pretty much completely subtextual, and yet people still acknowledge its existence. It has been shown through longing looks and conversations with the brothers where Mary voices her frustrations at her inability to break through the supposed communication barriers between her and Bobby (an interesting storyline which compares extremely closely with season 13’s long running miscommunication theme for Dean and Cas.)
Bobby and Mary’s current story reflects Dean and Cas’s especially in Mary’s frustrations to get Bobby to open up to her about his troubled past. There is an underlying message here which indicates Castiel’s own frustrations at Dean for not being more open and honest with him (again this was shown far more subtly as recently as 14x12 in how Dean keeps things from Cas because they are far too painful for him to address). This mirror is practically undeniable, just like David and Violet. Yet both are romantic.
The other glaringly obvious het character mirror pairing for Dean and Cas was Cain and Colette in seasons 9 and 10. Just because the story didn’t resolve itself, doesn’t mean the mirror wasn’t intended and specifically catered for Dean and Cas from the start.
Cain and Colette is a HUGE example of a mirror that was practically textually confirmed (and was actually confirmed by Jared Padalecki at a convention).
(x)
In fact, arguably 10x14 called for the audience to notice character mirrors before 14x04 did! Cain constantly reiterated that he was a Dean mirror TEXTUALLY. He told Dean that Sam was his Abel. He very clearly stated how Dean would live his life in reverse - Cain killed Abel first, then he unwillingly killed his wife Colette, before finally giving in and killing his demonic kin - the knights of hell.
He told Dean he would first kill Crowley - his own demonic kin in a sense, then he would kill Castiel - Deans... partner? Before finally killing Sam. How can I make this any clearer? Oh yeah. This:
In fact just got take a look at the source post for those gifs to see all the other ways Cas is a mirror for Colette and watch me laugh at anyone still trying to deny this: http://casclaire.tumblr.com/post/119456988024/and-everyone-you-know-everyone-you-love-they
Those were the het pairings (among many others) but Dean and Cas have also been mirrored to practically every other queer pairing in the show save one (and that was played purely for jokes for W*ncest fans).
Now the importance of queer representation is something we frequently discuss in fandom. So before some asshat decides to pipe up and accuse me I’ll just add a nice little disclaimer so said asshat can shut the hell up:
Theorising that queer pairings in Supernatural may also be mirror pairings for Destiel does not diminish the pairing or the representation in its own right. To claim it does so is utter bullshit. The pairing is still awesome and should be celebrated because hey! It’s on the show isn’t it? It’s out in the open as a canon queer pairing! YAY for US! Speculating that it could also be a Destiel mirror pairing only ADDS to the awesomeness. It does NOT diminish it in any way...
Unless you hate Destiel of course in which case... well:
So now we’ve got that out of the way:
Several of our best queer pairings in SPN over the years can also reflect Destiel and their relationship.
Charlie and Gilda is a prime example:
Gilda appears in episode 8x11 as a fairy from another realm who has been taken prisoner and forced via magic to do horrible things against her nature by a bad guy. Charlie is able to free her from her “masters” spell.
Sound familiar?
It should do, because this is basically Castiel’s story in season 8. He is brainwashed by Naomi to do bad things against his nature which culminates in Dean managing to break through to him by declaring how much he “needs” him. Isn’t it all so marvelously gay?
How about this awesome gay couple:
(x)
Honestly I could wax poetic about this episode for a thousand years, but I will just stress this: Anyone who tries to suggest that the mirror here is for Sam and Dean is clearly missing the fact that the entire point of this episode was about a BROTHER getting revenge for and mourning the loss of his BROTHER. So the Brother mirror is already well established at the start of the episode.
But Cesar? Cesar is all Cas. He’s the “foreigner” supporting his partners revenge quest regardless of his own desires. Hell, even their names are similar. Besides, their entire relationship was a lesson for the audience in how to recognise body language. All those shoulder squeezes and longing stares? Destiel was all over Jesse and Cesar. I have no doubt in that.
But if that didn’t swing it for you how about this lovely canon pairing?
(x)
The fandom coined “DreamHunter” pairing between Claire Novak and Kaia Nieves was built completely on famous Destiel moments. Longing looks, pledges of protection, “I’ll go with you”, saving each other, trying to go back for each other, mourning the others death… Dreamhunter was also still completely subtextual until recently when Jody Mills stated “First love strikes quick” a simple sentence, and it was confirmed as canon in the show.
Here’s a handy post of how dreamhunter was built on a Destiel framework:
http://bluestar86.tumblr.com/post/179549508598/tinkdw-first-love-strikes-quick-to-lose-it
Other than these obvious pairings above, there are literally hundreds of character mirrors used throughout the show’s 300 episode run so far which are put in place by the writers and the crew specifically to indicate some deeper meaning to the overall lead character emotional arcs. This has been common and frequent in the show throughout its long history. The above examples are just the most obvious ones related to either Sam and Dean or Dean and Cas. Almost every episode of this show includes character mirrors in some way or another. Character mirrors specifically linking to Dean and Cas have been particularly frequent throughout Carver and Dabb era (practically every episode in season 8 had a tragic human x immortal creature love story for example).
So for ANYONE to argue that we are seeing mirrors where they don’t exist? Well, those people are straight up wrong. I don’t care who they are, or whether they have some status within fandom or if they are just some asshole on the internet, unless the denial of character mirrors is coming from the writers or the directors of the episodes, they are wrong.
Which leads me nicely to this:
My reason for writing this long meta post was because of this. Simple enough right? We got three kids in 14x13. One is a tall nerdy boy who just seems to radiate with the same aura as Colin Morgan’s young Sam Winchester. One is a fiery young lady called Max, who wears a plaid jacket and has a shy crush on her friend - she also gets behind the seat of the Impala at one point as if that wasn’t obvious enough. The other girl Stacy we don’t know much about, other than that she is quiet, pretty, with dark hair and clearly the object of Max’s affections.
When I first watched this episode with @tinkdw and this scene came up we both didn’t even have to think about it. It was so clear to us. Nice one SPN, we see what you did there. The framing, the characters personalities, the coded clothing... there wasn’t a doubt between us that this was framed intentionally, and in a scene literally moments before Cas comes home to his family.
It was supposed to be simple, no big deal. Yet another Destiel mirror among the mountain of Destiel mirrors the show has already given us. Its not even anywhere near as impactful as one of the character mirror pairings previously mentioned in this post. Yet it was enough to cause such a huge wank storm on Twitter and have BNF accounts start a parade of abuse and blame towards meta writers for even DARING to consider that Destiel mirrors may exist AT ALL in this show, let alone with author intent!
Colour me effing surprised.
If ANYONE tries to tell ANY Destiel shipper that they don’t have a right to see character mirrors in the show, to believe that there is author intent, to SHAME them for seeing those mirrors in queer pairings specifically. You go right ahead and block those people. Because their opinions are their own no matter how much they may scream like they have some kind of authority. They don’t.
No one has any authority over the way you interpret the media you enjoy. Even me.
Don’t forget that.
So my point on this post was basically to say this.
You go right ahead and keep looking for character mirrors in SPN, because they have been intentionally included in the show since its humble beginnings. Destiel mirrors are a huge part of that. You are NOT wrong for seeing them.
Max and Stacy in 14x13 were just the latest in a long line of Destiel specific character mirrors in a show renowned for using character mirrors to the point that it has textually given its audience A. Lesson. In. How. To. Spot. Character. Mirrors.
I am not making this shit up.
At the end of the day, by believing the mirrors are intentional, and what makes this post controversial, is that it means I am telling you that TPTB are intentionally providing us with romantic Destiel subtext.
Well, that is exactly what I am saying. Because they are. There is no doubt about this. You don’t fill your show to the brim with romantic tropes, romantic character mirrors and an underlying romantic narrative C plot for at least 4 seasons without having some intentional desire to potentially make this thing an actual thing.
You just DON’T.
The writers know what the hell they are doing. They want to keep Destiel an option for endgame, so they keep it going throughout the show. Whether or not they eventually make it textual to a point that a general audience can’t deny its existence is another story, because that’s the kind of thing that need a green light from the CW suits.
But the writers, the creators of the show, everyone involved to an extent, they all know what they are doing. Anyone who at this stage would deny author intent regarding Destiel loses all my respect because frankly its insulting to the creators themselves. No one is so idiotic that they would make something look unintentionally romantic for 10 years.
The mirrors are real. Destiel is real. The creators of SPN continue to include it so they can keep it an option for endgame because (and this is the part I don’t know for sure but can at least guess because I don’t consider the entire writing team to be asshole queerbaiters) they want to make it canon as much as we want it to be canon.
Whether they actually CAN or not is the issue at this point. The debate on whether or not we “are reading into things” has been null and void since season 12. It was practically null and void since season 8 TBH.
So keep looking out for the Destiel mirrors (and the Sam and Dean mirrors and any other character mirrors you may pick up on) and you go right ahead and post and speculate and tweet and blog and do whatever the hell you want to do to voice your opinion on the topic because NO ONE has the right to police what you see in the show - especially when it has already been proven to be clearly intentional on the part of the creative team.
Finally I will leave you with this humble message from our “overlord” in case my post hasn’t already swayed you away from negative thinking and believing the deniers:
Thanks for reading. :)
The Answers Have Been Under My Nose...
Hello everyone, there are moments when I feel like a fool and kick myself for not realising these things sooner.
Some background on me to make that statement true: I completed both my undergraduate and graduate dissertation on the American poet Allen Ginsberg. I spent five years at university studying American road literature and the Beat generation.
Some background on Supernatural: Kripke half-based Sam and Dean on Sal and Dean from Jack Kerouac’s classic road novel ‘On The Road’ (hence the sub title for this blog ‘‘On The Road’ So Far’’. Sal Paradise and Dean Moriarty are based on the real life writers Jack Kerouac (author of said novel) and Neal Cassady.
Here is the page on my blog with the metas specifically related to Supernatural and the Beat generation (scroll right to the bottom for the conclusive introductory post).
If you would like to follow my main tumblr account specifically dedicated to Allen Ginsberg and his friends here is the link.
So what have I only just realised?
Cass vs Cas
You know that question on why on earth is Cas written as ‘CASS’ in the Supernatural scripts despite Castiel being spelled with one ‘s’? Well, it’s probably a reference no Neal CASSady, the real life Dean Moriarty. In this way, the genesis of Dean’s character is linked to ‘Cass’, making them two sides of the same coin - in effect he is the angel version of Dean, just like Neal Cassady was the real life version of Dean Moriarty.
Why Jack?
And why is Jack called Jack? I have often assumed it is because Jack is synonymous with ‘man’, or perhaps it is a reference to John Winchester? But maybe Jack Klein ‘J.K.’ is a reference to ‘Jack Kerouac’. And so as Cas and Dean are interlinked so are Sam and Jack - Jack is the nephelim version of Sal, just like Jack Kerouac is the real life version of Dean Moriarty. Sam and Jack are interlinked at their genesis - mirroring each other just like Dean and Cas mirror each other in different ways.
Jack and Jack Kerouac
Jack Kerouac was born to a religious family. His brother Gerard died as a child surrounded by nuns who thought he was a Saint. During his death he said he had a vision of the Virgin Mary and after his death Kerouac still felt his dead brother’s presence, regarding him as a guardian angel always with him. Kerouac’s mother was a devout Catholic and instilled this faith within Jack. Jack went through many struggles throughout his life and was highly spiritual. He became highly interested in Buddhism throughout the 50s and 60s, although he remained Catholic until early death caused by his addiction to alcohol. He was a stunning man with an athletic build yet was also pensive and existential. He believed deeply in Catholicism and believed he would reach salvation in the end despite his suffering.
Jack Kline’s mother died at his birth. Religion, her belief and love of God, and faith in her son were imbedded within her sacrificial death. Her death, her faith in goodness, and her assertion that an ‘angel is watching over’ Jack are reminiscent of Kerouac’s early life. As his religious and Saintly dead brother watched over him, Jack’s religious and Saintly dead mother watch over him. Kerouac’s formative years in his early twenties were informed by his friendship with Neal Cassady who took him on the road across America. Similarly, Cas has been formative to Jack in his Nephilim early twenties. Cas too took him on the road across America on adventures.
The similarities may stop there with Supernatural as I’m assuming that Kerouac’s later life won’t be seen within Jack, unless they wish to give Jack a drinking problem. Nor do I hope that Jack will spiral and cause his own demise.
More Thoughts
If you have read through my metas on Cas and Ginsberg, you’ll see that I also link Cas to Carlo Marx (based on Allen Ginsberg) who was a great friend to Kerouac and Neal, and was romantically involved with Neal on and off for many years. Linking Neal CASSady to Cas doesn’t necessarily negate the links between Cas and Carlo/Ginsberg, it just makes this is bit more confusing. Within the context of this discussion, it remains clear that Cass and Dean are interlinked through these literary references just like Sam and Jack are linked through the same sources.
In Season 14
In Season 13 we have seen Jack being mirrored to both Sam, Dean, and Cas. But let’s focus on Sam who he has mirrored a lot this past season, what with his powers, his struggle between good and evil, and his struggle between nurture and the evil blood within him. In this next season it is evident that Sam and Jack will be further linked together - both dealing with the death of Lucifer whilst also having the same goal of rescuing Dean. As two halves they will struggle together towards the same goal. Cas on the other hand, without Dean, is without his alternate side and I hope that the coming season will further differentiate the differences between Sam & Jack’s reaction to Michael!Dean and Cas’s reaction to Michael!Dean.
I probably will have more thoughts on this, although it is always a struggle to find the pertinent information across these two worlds in my brain and fit them together. I have been meaning to further investigate the links between Allen Ginsberg and Cas (which i have done to some extent), however it is difficult to discern the relevant links from a whole wealth of information. But the bare bones of this is;
Jack Kline is linked to Jack Kerouac. Jack Kerouac’s character in ‘On The Road’ is Sal Paradise. Sam is based on Sal. Therefore Jack is the angelic mirror of Sam.
Neal CASSady is linked to Cas. Neal Cassady’s character in ‘On The Road’ is Dean Moriarty. Dean Winchester is based on Dean Moray. Therefore Cas is the angelic mirror of Dean.
Conclusion: I am an idiot and can’t believe I’ve only seen this now despite being no. 1 fan of the Beat Generation to whom I’ve dedicated over a decade of my life to.
Jack Kline... Jack Kerouac... how did I not see this before...
No Light
You can’t choose what stays and what fades away. And I’d do anything to make you stay. “Sir, we’ve captured two of the rebels from the nephilim’s camp. We’re trying to discern their location and their numbers now. The male is proving particularly resilient to our methods. The female is still unconscious, but we’ve dealt with her before, and she proved to be a waste of time. What should we do, sir?” The angel Raziel stood, head bowed before Michael. Earlier in the day members of her garrison had apprehended the humans, who had foolishly believed that only two of them could overpower a whole squadron of angels. She found herself fighting a smile at the absurdity of the notion, but quickly schooled her features when her Lord Commander began to speak. “I think that this may call for a more skilled touch, if you get my meaning, Raziel,” Michael said, pacing slowly in front of the angel. Raziel raised her eyebrows, pleasantly surprised. “I do understand, sir. I’ll call for the Inquisitor right away,” she said smiling, before she vanished with a flutter.
Michael nodded to himself. Castiel was possibly the most loyal and useful of all of his younger siblings. Just before the war had begun between Heaven and Hell he’d instructed Castiel to take a vessel, and to lead his garrison to earth to begin breaking the seals that would free Lucifer from the Cage. Their final confrontation was foretold, and Michael was a good soldier. He would do as he was told. Once Lucifer had been destroyed, and his armies reduced to ashes or hiding in the depths of the earth, Michael had ordered Castiel and his garrison to begin rounding up the humans. The earth needed to be purged. The human race was too willful, and they refused to bend to Michael’s rule. They had to be purged, and a new earth would be born from their ashes. Initially Castiel had been wary of his command, and Michael remembered his little brother’s trepidation. “Michael, these humans are our Father’s creation. We were ordered to protect them and the earth. We’ve defeated Lucifer, now is to be a time of peace,” Castiel said. “You would question my command?” Michael asked him calmly. “I...Mean no disrespect, brother. I only wish to understand--” “You need not understand. Only do as you have been instructed. Is that clear?” Castiel lowered his gaze to the floor and took a deep breath. “Yes, sir.” As he disappeared Michael spoke to Zachariah who stood at his side. “Once he’s incarcerated the humans in his district,” he said turning to look pointedly at the other angel, “adjust his attitude.” Zachariah had been successful, and once he was done, Castiel had become the fiercest angel under Michael’s command. His skills at interrogation had proved invaluable, and over time even Michael found himself surprised at Castiel’s tactics. He was ruthless and creative in his methods of extracting information, far beyond what Michael or Zachariah had ever expected of him. Once, Zachariah had questioned whether he had taken Castiel’s conditioning too far, but Michael had consoled his brother. “Zachariah, you did as I instructed. You corrected his wayward behavior,” Michael said laying a hand on Zachariah’s shoulder. “Indeed, but sometimes I find his actions...alarming,” Zachariah frowned. “I will admit that I have been surprised at his ruthlessness before. It is beneficial to me, though. So I will allow him to continue,” Michael said. Now, Michael cast his thoughts to the future. Castiel’s skills would come to good use once again, and he would learn where the humans made their camp. In Heaven, in his universe, angels were healing and becoming stronger after their escape from the Empty. He had learned from a few who had chosen to find vessels that they were all angels from the Other Universe. He was disappointed that these angels weren’t his own, but they would still serve him, just the same. He would focus his efforts on breaching the Empty of his universe once the nephilim threat was neutralized. Earth would be his, and all because of Castiel. Michael chose to ignore the feeling at the back of his mind that something had turned against his favor. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Welcome to my cage, little lover. Attempt to rearrange with you, baby. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Castiel pulled on his black trench coat over his suit and pulled on his leather gloves as he stared past his own reflection in the mirror to the woman behind him. “I’ve been summoned by Raziel. They’ve got a job for me,” he said in his raspy, even tone. “Sounds like it should be enjoyable. The subjects are obstinate.” “Can I come this time, Clarence?” Meg asked, the scar around her left eye shifting as she raised her eyebrow. “Haven’t you already?” he asked seriously, turning to face her. Amusement crept across his face and they laughed together. She sighed and stretched languidly, smiling still, “I teach you all my tricks and then I never get to play.” She pulled on her tunic length t-shirt and her jeans and sat on the edge of the mattress. They’d been meeting in this abandoned motel for years now, killing anyone--angel, demon, or otherwise--who may have seen them coming and going. “You know it’s not safe for you to be out there, especially not right now,” he said as he walked over to her and pulled her up to stand against him. He held her against him feeling the warmth radiating from her as she wrapped her arms around his waist. Lately he felt like he couldn’t get warm unless she was with him. “I intend to keep you for a long while,” he said. She sighed heavily, “You know I love laying low, but I miss the action. I need a purpose, Feathers. I feel useless, and I hate it. I had power and now I have nothing.” He grabbed a fistful of her long, two-tone hair, just hard enough to pull her head back, and she looked up to meet his eyes defiantly. “Don’t do anything that will put yourself in harms way. I know you, Meg. You’re restless, I understand. Please, for me, keep your head down,” he said softly. “For a guy who loves to torture people you’re a big softy,” she purred. He moved his hands to grip her upper arms. “Meg--” “Okay, okay,” she said, putting her hands against his chest. “I promise I’ll stay low. For now!” She raised her a hand and pointed it in his face, “But if the fight comes to me, I’m not backing down.” He was motionless for a moment before he quickly moved to clamp his teeth down on the finger she held up. He chuckled as she yanked her hand back and cut her eyes at him. “That’s a good girl,” he said kissing her quickly and moving towards the door. “This shouldn’t take long, but I’ll need to report in to Michael when I’m finished,” he said rolling his eyes. “I’ll be around. You know how to reach me,” she said. He absentmindedly ran his right thumb over his left palm. Underneath his glove his hand was newly healed from where he’d slashed it open for the ritual to call her to him. “I’ll call,” he said, then disappeared, the sound of his wings making her shudder. “Why do I have a bad feeling about this?” Meg whispered to herself, before transporting herself back to her throne room.
