Here's a thought that just popped into my head - Hugs are really a miraculous thing. I mean think about it, when two people who truly care about each other see each other in person, their hearts turn their bodies to velcro and they stick to each other!

ehehehe funny thing is, I actually don't get too squicked by the gore used in NOPE. It's there yes and it is very disturbing, but the thing about Jordan Peele is that like in a lot of his movies, he doesn't focus too much on the gore outside of what's needed to get the point across. In NOPE, aside from a few horses we see get scooped up by the UFO, the only onscreen animal death is of a chimp, and the only human death we see is of a man who falls off of a horse, and it's from a distance and isn't graphic aside from when we later see the injury that caused it.

There's a scene in NOPE where a literal rain of blood is brought down upon the film's central location. It's horrifying and uneasy, but we mostly feel afraid because we know where that blood came from, so it's moreso the psychological side of it that gets to me.

I get very uncomfortable with the gory scenes from Midsommer, for example. Specifically one where a man's head is split open and focused on for several seconds in the shot. But with NOPE, there's a similar scene where trauma occurs to a character's eye, and while we see the ruined socket and the spurts of blood coming out of it, we quickly move past it to focus on the grief another character is feeling at the loss of their parent. It's the fear of grief and sudden death that's the focus rather than the blood and trauma that caused it.

I can sit and watch blood pour from a window just fine. I struggle to watch someone's brain spill across a hard stone ground for a whole minute. It's all about pacing, the way the gore is framed, the reason why the gore is being shown(the blood rain is meant to symbolize tragedy and a large amount of people who died because of another character's stupidity), and overall the way in which gory violence is handled that makes NOPE a comfort movie while I'd actually rather eat a living slug than rewatch Midsommer despite it being a film that I loved to death.

Once I was very queasy about gore in live action films.

In many ways I still am.

It's just a matter of framing and pacing and effects used that impact how easily I can digest and enjoy it. If that makes sense. IDK. This was a silly ramble :) lol

alhamdulillah for another dayyy!!! and that means today is spring finalsss!!!!!!!! wow i just can't believe spring is coming to an end TT^TT LIKE WHY DOES EVERYTHING PASS BY SO FAST?!?! anyways it's our final battle against our long, lost kyrptonite aka geng. at this point, i don't mind shipping ourselves because we are pratically soulmates HAHAHA. it's now our 5th i think? battling against each other and we always come out short. 5 runner ups </3 so i hope we are able to defeat them today in sha Allah!! geng is legit our last boss cos urghhh playing against them is mega tough but i know you bois can match them and be even better than them :) remember how we managed to defeat them in spring '22? that means vanquishing geng IS POSSIBLE. we just have to stay positive and keep calm, aites?
