The sun caressed the first of its light across the delicate skin of Davion’s eyelids, a gentle waking under a soft breeze that smelled of flowers, surrounded by fine, crisp sheets of a quality worth an eldwyrm’s hoard. The Helio Imperium is definitely better than some of the places he’s found himself, the stink of piss and cockroaches vivid enough even in his memory to make him shudder, but even if they were in the most decrepit tavern of his acquaintance, the sight of the woman slumbering next to him would make it worthwhile.
