I think something that people need to realize that it’s more likely that Marinette kept Gabriel being hawkmoth a secret for a single reason. Adrien.

It’s not for Gabriel sake it’s purely for Adrien. But not for the reasons that people think. Guys, level with me. Think about it. People found out that his father was the terrorist that had been responsible for so much pain and suffering in the city for God knows how long how do you think people would treat Adrien?

At best, he would just be a social pariah. Honestly, I actually agree with her decision to keep us a secret purely for Adrien’s safety. if it got out that he was the son of the terrorist that had been responsible for so much suffering, there’s no way he would be safe.

MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY !! While it the majority of us can agree to say that hiding every truth about his father and sentihuman nature from Adrien may be the wrong decision, at least there's a very understandable and logic reason as to why Ladybug went along with the "Gabriel Agreste died as a hero to help me defeat Monarch" and agreed to lie to all of Paris if it is to avoid further pain to Adrien.

At this point, I've managed to realise that it is quite impossible that what we saw at the end of S5 is the way the writers decided to end that arch because there are still so many things left to uncover... Like how is Tomoe involved, the actual truth regarding Adrien, Sentimonsters and everything else, and just what is really going on.

Besides, I don't think the writers are that cruel to not let Cat noir be involved in the final battle.

Honestly speaking, I'm quite excited to see how Marinette is going to try and keep the secret and how she's going to struggle to not tell Adrien the actual truth.

It opens up a fairly interesting dynamic that I am waiting to see in S6.

You know what bothers me the most? Of course Lila/Cerise/Iris. And while we don't know what happened at the end of the episode (what that light was), if you assume she'll be the owner of the Butterfly Miraculous (if nothing unusual happened) next season could be a real mess, given all the information which she obtained. I think the most significant event would be Lila's (potentially) revealing the truth to Adrian about his father being a Monarch and that Marinette knew about it but chose not to tell him the truth and I'm already shivering just thinking about it

Maybe the new Hawk Moth won't win and we won't see Gabriel ever again - but I truly believe that this message was meant for the ending of S5, not S4.

... I hope that LB will manage to undo this cursed wish somehow, and that the ORIGINAL Hawk Moth will be back to get his butt kicked properly - but even if he doesn't....
