1/2 cup softened butter or shortening

6 tablespoons granulated sugar

6 tablespoons firmly-packed brown sugar

1/2 teaspoons vanilla

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon water

1 egg

1 cup plus 2 tablespoons sifted flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 cup coarsely chopped nuts

1 6oz package mint chips

Combine butter, sugars, vanilla, and water. Beat until creamy. Beat in egg. Sift together dry ingredients and blend in. Stir in nuts. Spread in a greased 13x9x2 pan. Sprinkle on mint chips over the dough. Place in 375 for 1 minute, then remove from oven. Run a toothpick through the dough to marbleize the chips in. Return to oven and bake 12-14 minutes. Cool.
