✦ LATE NIGHT WALK? — k.mj
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary. a late night walk with your best friend, minji! ..except, theres a twist.
pair. non-idol!bsf!minji x fem!reader
content ahead. fluff, (best) friends-to-lovers, wlw, GAYS!!!!, theyre both silly, just a small bit of texting!
notes. RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA who couldve guessed! surprise !! take this while you wait for tg…cause ive been procrastinating it a LOT…. (not proofread as we all know.. i proofread on a good day [which is never])
Tumblr media
you lie awake in bed as the time read 12:37. you sighed, you didnt want to go to sleep, but you didnt have anything else to do, either.
until, that is, you felt your phone vibrate—a notification. you first shrugged it off, thinking it was some random app you didnt use anymore, but was way too lazy to delete it. after a few seconds, you decided to see what it was, and to your surprise, the notification was a text from your the one and only, kim minji! aka your best(est) friend (ever).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
you could feel your tiredness just disappear all in the span of that minute.
you immediately got up from bed once you hearted the text, turning the lights on as you walked to your closet. you didnt want to keep minji waiting, so you figured you would just keep it casual with a shirt and jeans or something.
once you finally got ready, you did some finishing touches before grabbing your phone and bag, and dashing out of there excitedly. when you exited your apartment complex, there she was, in all her glory—minji!
“minji-ah!” you whisper-shouted as you swore she turned her head to you in the blink of an eye. she took her hands out of her pockets and waved at you, smiling brightly. you rushed over, embracing her in a hug as she froze, blushing a little.
“hi!—” she giggled before hugging you back tightly. you let go after a few seconds, making her pout. you didnt notice, though. you were too busy looking around the streets of seoul, wondering where you two should head first.
“mm, follow me!” you spoke, which caught the tall girl off guard, but she immediately followed after you, catching up as she walked beside you. the night sky always had you mesmerized.. but there something—someone else that had you even more mesmerized.
and it was minji.
maybe you started to develop feelings for her over these past few months with her…
you were pretty much certain that she didnt like you back. and as much as that hurt, you had to deal with it. being best friends with her is enough already, and youre grateful. but at the same time, what if she liked you back? it would.. yeah itd probably hurt to confess. but it was now or never, right? now just seemed like the perfect moment.
“crosswalk, idiot!” she reminded as she halted your movements, making you snap out of your thoughts. “oops!.. sorry,” you looked away in embarrassment as she scoffed jokingly.
you silently turned your head back to her. she was looking at the sky, and the scenery around. god, she was insanely pretty. prettier than the scenery around. prettier than anything around.
you tapped her shoulder to get her attention once you were able to cross as you two crossed the street together. your hands suddenly brushed against each other slightly, and even that made minji blush.. you were both equally down bad for each other!
once at the other side, minji’s fingers crawled on your palm before she interlocked her hand with yours, the action making you stunned, but, you werent complaining. who would?
“all the stores are closed.. aw,” minji sighed, pointing at the stores to your left as you two walked past them after a few seconds. “but you know, the convenience stores are still open.” you spoke, as she let out an agreeing “oohh..” followed by a nod. “lets head there then? hope you dont mind the walk though..” she smiled. “as long as im with you, i wouldnt mind at all!” you grinned.
after a short 12 minutes of walking and talking, you guys finally arrived at the convenience store while still holding hands. minji was the first to step in as you came in right after, greeting the staff that stood at the register.
“so, yn..i have, uh,, something to tell you.” minji explained as you two walked out of the convenience store. you and minji spent a decent amount of time in there, talking while having snacks. you two had a great time, and she even paid for everything.. and when you thought you couldnt crush on her more than before.
“oh,” you gulped, suddenly nervous and sweat was trickling down your forehead as you nodded, “i have.. something to tell to you.. as well?” you questioned—yourself. she took a deep breath before continuing, “lets say it at the same time?
“yeah. same time.. same time,” you breathed.
“on 1, okay?”
“3 - 2 - 1–”
“i like you, yn!”
“i like you!”
“wait, what?” you awkwardly giggled, raising an eyebrow at minji. she had her head turned, obviously away from you. her face was bright red…and so was yours.
“..y—youre for real?” minji muttered, not daring to make eye contact. she was looking everywhere but your direction. “what do you think, idiot?” you joked.
“so,, were dating now, right?”
“yeah.. yeah!”
“ill walk you home then?”
“thats absurd, kim minji! spend more time with your new girlfriend, will you?”
“g-girlfriend.. right! yes, okay.”

Summary: You never expected to fall in love with your best friend.
Warnings: None
A/N: This is my first time writing in this format so pls give constructive criticism where u see fits! I'm also open to suggestions and reqs ^^ (gn!reader but I intended ts to be wlw)
Tumblr media
The first time you met Minji was over a year ago. You had fallen down in a rush trying to find your class and scraped your knee, your vision blurring with tears as a hand came into view, a cheery smile awaiting you as you slowly lifted your head up to see who the person in front of you was. She tended tentatively to your wound, applying the cheap ointment the nurse had given her onto it and securing a bandage over it. In that moment, you could have sworn she was the sun.
From then on, you couldn't help but notice how the second she entered a room the atmosphere became cheerful, how her eyes would light up like a bright flame each time they locked on you, and how could you ignore the way your temperature would rise causing an all too familiar flush to appear on your cheeks as your hands intertwined while the two of you made your way to class? Minji was a bright summer day, not too hot, her perfect hair a nice breeze to balance the humidity of your life. Minji's laugh was the loud crashing of waves on the beach as kids laughed and played. Her eyes were the rising sun that marked a new day. She was the one thing you knew you could count on each waking morning because as long as the sun rose, she would be there.
It was innocent at first. Who doesn't admire their friends? But as the two of you grew closer, your mind began to change. Minji wasn't the sun; rather, she was the moon shining down gently on the world, a silent but comforting presence amidst the chaos of your daily life. She was the gentle crashing of waves; her smile dictating the cycles of the ocean within your heart. A soothing presence was what she was. "Hey, are you listening to me?" Her words snapped you out of your thoughts. Those beautiful, tender eyes, finding your own as you realize she isn't just a friend either. She's the love of your life.

gimme all your lovin' (all your hugs and kisses too!) ~ k. mj.
a/n: a birthday present for @dark-night-insomniac ❤️ happy birthday, my dear! you deserve all of the love and sweetness that the world can offer you 🫶
tw: partying shenanigans, a non-paladin reader in a paladin AU, a not-so-obvious dirty joke, someone is accidentally cut with a kitchen utensil (safety people!), you may get cavities from the tooth-rotting fluff!
related fics: look at me! look at me!, sorry for party rockin'!, we're never getting back together (like ever?)
summary: your date with Minji is cut short when a pair of your mutual friends call you. you're inevitably dragged into their shenanigans, but it can't be all bad with leftover food and Minji by your side.

Tumblr media
You did like going to parties, especially ones that involved Katie and the other Paladins. They were always fun, a bit rowdy at times, but still lots of fun for you.
“We can go, if you'd like.” JiU lightly squeezes your hand as you stare at the invitation on your phone. “I know someone on the waitstaff, we can push our reservation back an hour or two-”
“No, it's alright, Katie will have to survive without us.” You switch to your messaging app of choice to let Katie know of your decision. “They'll be fine. What could possibly go wrong?”
~
You and JiU, your lovely girlfriend, walk to your home from the restaurant. After a successful date night, neither of you wanted to leave each other alone. You could've called for a ride, but what fun was that? Your apartment was a few blocks down the road, and the weather was fair enough for you to walk back.
“Thank you for dinner tonight.” JiU smiles before lightly kissing your cheek. “I love when we can spend nights together, with just the two of us.”
You chuckle softly, trying to hide your nervousness. You've been dating for a while, but the magnificent goddess next to you still gives you butterflies.
“Anything for you, my dear.” You pull her close with your interlocked hands.
She softly gasps as your free hand lands on her waist. With a beaming smile, one you couldn't resist, she leans in and kisses you.
You kiss her back and pull her as close as possible until your phone buzzes in your pocket.
“Should you get that?” JiU asks as you shake your head.
“It's not as important as you are at this moment.” You ignore the vibrations as she loudly squeals.
“Awww, you're so sweet to me!” She leans in for another kiss, but she's interrupted by her phone ringing. “I'm sorry, love, let me see-”
Her smile drops slightly as she checks the caller ID.
“Who is it?” You tilt your head as you fish your phone out of your pocket.
“It's Dami.”
Your eyes widen as you look at your phone's call history.
“Well, that's not good.”
“Who called you?”
“Katie.”
You exchange a nervous look with JiU before she picks up her phone. At the same time, you call Katie back, hoping that this isn't as much of an emergency as it seems to be.
~
As you enter JiU's house, the one you've been in before with her and her friends, you stare in complete shock with how trashed the place is. Articles of clothing have landed on ceiling fans and lamps, and some are of the more…. intimate variety. Plastic cups are littered around the stairwell, and a trail of food crumbs leads in and out of the kitchen variety.
“It seems like everyone had fun.” JiU remarks with a small snort at the end of her statement.
You check your phone for the time - 11:45 p.m. - where is everyone?
“We're in here.” Dami calls from the downstairs bathroom, and JiU looks over to the kitchen.
“I'm going to check around and see if anyone else is here, okay?” She rubs your shoulder before pressing a kiss to your check.
You grab her hand and kiss it before she giggles and heads into the kitchen. You walk forward and take a left into the bathroom, where you gasp at the sight in front of you.
Katie, idly swinging her legs, sits on the bathroom counter top as Dami sits on a wooden stool with a first aid kit in hand.
“Are you hurt?” You rush over to her side as she sighs and shakes her head.
“No, Dami's worrying over nothing-”
“You cut yourself on a kitchen knife. I want to make sure that you're okay before we call everyone back inside.” Dami grabs a bandaid and gently grabs Katie's arm.
“So there's no emergency? No life-ending event?” You lean against the door as you let out a sigh. “You made us worried, you know. You two don't tend to call us unless it's serious. What did you need from us?”
“We could use some help cleaning up, if you don't mind,” Dami disinfectant the wound, which causes Katie to hiss in pain, “plus some people needed some time to cool off outside.”
You look towards a nearby window, where surely enough, a large group of people are gathered in the backyard of the house.
“Will they be alright out there?” You ask.
“King and Kim Lip already flattened the flower bed, and there's not much outside they can wreck besides that.” Dami informs you as JiU joins your side.
“SuA's going to be pissed when she finds out.” JiU adds as Dami places the bandage over the wound on Katie's hand. “How are you going to tell her?”
“Neon said that he and Siyeon had it handled… so I'm leaving it to them.” Dami answers before setting the first aid kit aside. “You're all good to help out with cleaning.”
She lightly taps Katie's knee twice before backing away from the counter. Katie jumps down as Dami sets the stool aside.
“That's your plan for telling SuA?” Your eyes widen as Katie stares at you.
“Do either of you have any better ideas?” She pauses. “No? That's what I thought. Let's clean up the house - maybe we can make the lecture slightly shorter if we do that much.”
~
“How did you end up with this mess?” You pick a red solo cup up from the couch and place it into a garbage bag as Katie plays fifty-two pick-up with a deck of cards on the ground.
“It was supposed to be an intimate gathering between friends, but Ryujin just had to post it everywhere. I had to make extra food, people brought over extra booze, and some people got a little wild. I had to take some people home, like Yeji, who were too drunk to even stand properly.” She explains as you nod your head.
“And the other Paladins?”
“Mala and Tzuyu are running bets outside over some silly game, Neon and Siyeon are knocked out in another room, Sparrow's run off with Yunjin and Kazuha, and I had to drive Kim Lip and King home.”
“How'd that go?” You ask.
“All they did was sing ‘Sorry For Party Rockin’ acapella for twenty minutes,” Katie shudders as she recalls the memory, “Oh, and they both vomited five seconds after leaving my car, thank God.”
“So it’s been an eventful night?”
“Most definitely, I have so much blackmail- er, I mean, photos to show you later!” Katie sets the deck of cards aside before heading into the kitchen. “We still have leftover food, if you’re interested in some. I’d feel bad if you guys did all that cleaning and didn’t get anything for it.”
“We’ll be fine, and I should be getting back anyways. It’s well past midnight at this point, and I’m sure people will want to head home-” You start to decline her offer before you hear Minji happily clap from the kitchen.
“Please, Dami, I’ll only have a few bites~” You can practically hear the puppy dog eyes in her words as Dami sighs.
“I know how well that went with the cookies Katie made for me last time-”
“-You didn’t say they were made for you. I saw cookies, so I ate them.” JiU peeks her head into the living room to speak with the girl in question. “Katie, you don’t mind, right?”
“Take as much as you need, I can always make more.” Katie insists before JiU gives her a thumbs up and sends you a wink. “C’mon, darling, let’s eat!”
“We just had dinner!” You sigh as your stomach grumbles at the thought of food. “Maybe a bite or two couldn’t hurt.”
“You two have fun, alright? I’ve got another room to clean up, and Dami’s going to take out the trash before we let everyone back in. You’ll want to be gone by then - our hungry drunks aren’t going to be too pleased with the food being ravaged.”
With that, Katie heads into an extension of the living room as you and JiU head into the kitchen. There’s a wide variety of treats - more than enough to please even the pickiest of eaters.
“She really did make enough food to feed an army.” You stare in wonder as JiU grabs one of the infamous strawberry cheesecake cupcakes. “I thought you weren’t hungry for dessert… were you anticipating an extra snack from Katie?”
“Guilty as charged!” She mumbles between bites.
You both laugh together, and your heart sores as her soft giggles graze your ears. It’s moments like this that remind you why you love JiU - she’s so honest and open about everything.
“I love you.” You say as she turns to you.
“I love you more, my dear.”
“Impossible, really.” You joke before pulling her in for another kiss.
It wouldn’t be the last you share that night, not by a mile. You wouldn’t grow tired of her affections - not now, not ever.
And you had to thank Katie and her friends - they gave you a reason to be even closer to JiU, after all.
Like you needed to have one in the first place.

it’s hard dating kim minji. it was like one day, she was just your girlfriend. the girl who would hold your hand and swing it a little too hard on walks by the han river until both of you lose your balance. the girl who would wrap you with her sweater because she had a possessive streak and she liked you wearing her clothing. the girl who would kiss you senseless when she had to leave for practice even though she promised to call you when she got back to the dorms.
and then the next, she was the unofficial leader of k-pop’s arguably hottest girl group.
soon, the girl who would turn on the strangest filters when she video called you to make you laugh turned into the girl who would organize her members together as they interacted with millions of fans all across the world.
minji always tries her best to make sure you don’t feel like you’ve fallen behind. she talks about you to her members. she mentions that a ‘friend’ bought her the beautiful necklace that a fan comments on when she’s on vlive. she always wears that necklace - no matter where she is. in every single of the thousands of pictures of minji at the airport, she’s wearing that necklace.
to the extent that people began spreading rumors that jungwon of enhypen and minji of newjeans were dating and that was their couple necklace. minji had laughed about it when she called you when those rumors first came out.
“i don’t think i’ve ever even been within ten feet of jungwon. people will say anything if you’re the same age as someone else. or honestly, if they just think you’re shippable with them. how ridiculous is that,” minji snorts as she fingers the sapphire necklace thoughtlessly.
you try to laugh, nodding as your mind wanders. “yeah. so ridiculous.”
that night, you spent a good three hours searching up jungwon and fall down a rabbit hole of jungwon x minji ships on tiktok. you try to ignore the sinking feeling in your stomach when you realize just how well jungwon and minji match each other.
leaders. thoughtful. kind. so incredibly beautiful.
you weren’t bad looking - you knew that. and you knew that minji loved every single part of you, no matter how much you got in your head about it. but it was different for her. she didn’t even think about things that deep.
“have you ever noticed how uneven my eyes are? it’s like they’re on separate floors on my face,” you said one day, as minji’s not on camera for a second because she’s washing her face after practice. minji ducks into frame, white foam still on her face from her cleanser as she looks at you incredulously.
“y/n, i don’t think so at all. honestly, i don’t even know what you’re talking about; your eyes look fine to me,” she says, before ducking out of frame once more to wash the rest of the foam off of her face. minji can still see that you’re not completely comforted yet and she holds up her phone at an incriminating angle, as though she was scrutinizing your face.
“y/n, i literally see the most beautiful pair of eyes that could ever exist. you’re too hard on yourself. i promise no one sees what you think that they do. all they see is how kind you are and how genuine you are,” minji says and she can see the small smile that you’re trying to fight away and she considers her girlfriend duties to be fulfilled. for the moment, at least.
but that was a year ago, before newjeans was formed and before you started seeing minji’s face more often on billboards than in the comfort of her arms on a quiet date in your apartment.
now, when you get insecure about the tiny little things you don’t like about yourself, you stare longingly at the phone that you’re waiting for to ring, hoping that your girlfriend will call and wash all your insecurities away.
she tries her best - she really does. minji calls you whenever she can, even if she has to call you at 3 in the morning in america so she can catch you before you head to class. she’ll send presents to your door instead of actually showing up because she doesn’t want to compromise your safety.
and she will never take off that necklace. that beautiful sapphire necklace that you gifted her on her 16th birthday, with your first paycheck. the one that has your initials carved into it on a tiny little dog tag that falls down her back.
but it feels a little colder in your apartment meant for love when minji isn’t there to shelter you in her arms and cover your eyes during scary movies. you can’t help but checking her location (which she had shared with you soon after she debuted) to see when she would get home. more often than not, you would fitfully fall asleep before you could see her arrive at home. and you watch a phone that won’t ring until ungodly hours.
when she does call, minji tries to be as lively and attentive as she was before she was being flown out to a different country almost everyday. but you can see the eye bags that give away just how hard she truly is working. and you force yourself to tell her goodbye before you really want to because you want her to get at least a couple hours of precious rest that she doesn’t get too often.
it’s all worth it, you try to tell yourself. when minji finally gets a couple hours where she isn’t forced to be doing something, and she manages to bundle herself up and sneak into your apartment, it is worth. even when she gets a call from her manager that she has to be at the hybe building within the next hour, while she can hold you, it’s worth it.
dating kim minji is hard. but it’s all worth it in the end. it has to be.

minji clutched her diploma tightly with one hand. she looked around one last time before opening the door. inside the empty classroom, you sat by the window. your own certificate laying at the desk in front of you.
"there you are," you exclaimed as you saw her enter the room.
she did expect you to show up when she asked to meet after graduation. but now that you're in front of her, everything is hard to believe. your presence is too comforting to be real and your warm smile is something out of her dreams.
"i hope i didn't keep you waiting for too long. i'm sorry, i had to take too many pictures," the idol ducked her head and smiled guiltily.
"its fine. it might the last time i'll see this classroom anyways. so, what's up?" you asked, already reminiscing the moments you've spent in this very classroom.
minji felt her heart clench at the thought of her being just a high school memory to you.
"well-actually...you see," minji tried to start. she'd rehearsed this last night many times. even going as far as to practice in front of her members.
'come on, just get it out', minji pepped herself once more. her nerves were on fire, just as every inch of her body. she'd been nervous before and in situations more severe. yet, this moment tops any other.
meanwhile, you stare at her patiently. you're too busy fawning to notice her dilemma. thoughts on how minji looked ethereal in every angle ran rampant in your mind. she was stuttering over her words yet you were staring at her like she hung the moon.
one glance at the look in your eyes and she had the courage to say all the things she's kept for so long.
"i like you"
your jaw dropped visibly. but minji continued. there's no turning back now. if she's putting her heart out, might as well go all the way.
"and i realized that this might be the last time we'll see each other if i don't do anything. we've shared so many memories throughout high school."
"i want to make more with you," minji, your best friend, confessed.

another life
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know I would love to just do laundry, take a walk in the park with you. in another life, I promise, we will.
word count : 0.5k words
genre : angst, fluff(?); two people who were each others' world and fate was against them; squint real real hard for that miniscule fluff; minji x gn! reader
t/w : none :)
a/n : newjeans world domination, and they've dominated me. SUMMERJEANS COMING SOON I'M EXCITED TO HYPERVENTILATE AND GAY PANIC OVER WHATEVER THEY'RE GONNA DROP.
to my dearest, I finally have the courage to tell you whatever I'm feeling for you. yet, I never had the chance to tell you in person. maybe I should have just sent you that text at midnight, maybe I should have told you about my feelings when we walked side by side at the park. maybe, but I didn't. was I a fool? I don't know, but I wasn't too sure about what I felt was right, was appropriate.
I didn't deserve you, who brightened up my life with her shine. the one who picked me up from my bottomless pit, showing me that there was no such thing as endless agony. the one who stuck by me even when I was closed off and hurt you multiple times, too many times, which I still regret till this day.
I was selfish, for wanting both your attention only on me, yet wanting you away from me because I was poison. you would do just fine without me, but I'd struggle to the ends of earth without you. I want you to be happy, but it didn't seem like you would be when I'm around.
if you were to be with me, I would be nothing but a burden, someone who couldn't make you smile. I live to see that bright smile of yours, for sure I don't have the right to take it away. but at that time, I didn't know you reciprocated my feelings, and I admit that I was dense to notice it. it's not every day that I receive affection and love, I wasn't raised in an environment like that.
receiving affection, made life so much better. receiving affection from you, made my life the best it could ever be. and I feel really grateful that I had someone like you in my life, someone who didn't mind my scars, my pain, just embracing me for who I am, what I am, and what I would be no matter what. I'd give anything to have you back. it didn't matter what it would take, because I have nothing further more to lose. wishing that I could turn back time every midnight, I know we are past that point of our lives, our time.
I know I would love to just do laundry, take a walk in the park with you. hold hands as we stroll in the night, share kisses under the lamp post, cuddle in bed on a sunday morning. it may have not been this life, but in another life, I promise, we will. there will always be a day where we'd be in each other's arms, whispering I love you's. a day where I open my eyes from my slumber and I have all the time to admire those features of yours, falling in love again and again with you.
tell me you're waiting, tell me you still like me, still love me. when I find you again, look at me with that same gummy smile you gave me when we first met. and say,
'I've waited for you, my love.'
because when I see you again, there will be nothing between us, just you and I. under that cherry blossom tree, where I first fell for you.
I love you, minji, more than you think.

Their Daughters - Part I
[a small series of drabbles I wrote about the Manager Kim - Park Jincheol - Hansu Seong trio and their kids' dynamics]
[Tahoon is female in this. It'll be about Hansu reflecting on how Taehyun is and have some spoilers from the latest chapters.]
Despite Taehyun being how she usually was, Seong Hansu had never truly been worried for his daughter. He'd never had to even consider that she could get hurt. After all, Seong Taehyun was his daughter and he'd taught her well.
Even if the two of them haven't realized it yet, Hansu thought fondly on his friends. Jincheol and Kim were absolute demons to fight against and most likely stronger than the 'pre-generation' that Kim's boss liked to harp on about - he would know, being one of those 'demons' himself.
However, when he'd announced his firstborn had arrived and that the name him and So-hyun ah had picked out was Taehyun, Jincheol had laughed boisterously at how Hansu was the only one out of the three of them to have a son, Hansu had decided it would be fun to keep it a secret.
Taehoon had also decided to keep it up solely because it was incredibly amusing for her.
So-hyun had only laughed at the two of them and Haru had joined his mom in laughing at his big sister and dad.
(Honestly, Hansu was impressed that they'd guessed that Haru was a girl. Haru hadn't minded it so much back then - he only seemed to get offended when others outside of their family misgendered him. However, with how Haru had seemed to act as of late, Hansu suspected his son was trying to figure himself out.)
As Hansu relaxed as he knocked on the door to the Park residency, he chuckled as Sohyun clicked her tongue and fixed his shirt.
"At least try to dress up more neatly - even Haru got dressed well."
"Hey!" his son disagreed. Haru fidgeted with his cropped shirt as leaned back on his heels. "I'm not that badly dressed. Besides - Taehyun isn't even here. Why are you getting on my case?" He grumbled the last part and Hansu sighed and shook his head.
"Your sister's busy right now - so she'll come later. She told me she'd come a bit later." Sohyun turned to him, a question in her eyes, but as the door opened, Hansu motioned that he'd answer her question of where their daughter was later.
(Thinking back on it, he really should have picked up the damned phone.
Son or daughter, it didn't matter - Taehyun had needed his help and he hadn't been there.)
However, all Hansu did was chuckle as little Dabn opened the door and slung an arm around Haru as the family entered, Mrs. Park grinning as she saw her old friend and greeted her, Hansu himself greeting Jincheol and ignoring the vibrating of his phone.
"Shouldn't you pick that up?" Jincheol questioned as Kim came along with Minji, the two of them staring at Haru showing off their capoeira progress to the other two. Hansu sighed and shrugged.
"It's Taehyun - she'll be fine." Jincheol chuckled at that as he put away the dishes and Kim nodded as he approached them.
"Jincheol is right. It's not like Taehyun doesnt know her way through a fight. Speaking of - she called me too," Kim frowned at that and Hansu felt a sense of dread settle on him.
His daughter had called Kim and--.
No. No. She'd be fin. He knew Taehyun. He knew just how strong his daughter was - he'd seen her comfort Haru every time that So-hyun had to leave for work and how she would always assume the responsibility that had fallen on her shoulders.
He remembered how she'd brokenly pieced herself together after Dowoon's death and how he hadn't seen her actual roots in so long.
He renenberd how she'd cried when she'd been reunited with the Taesan Head's twins - how Ravi and Hwa had held onto her as the three of them were on the way to becoming legends in their own right.
And it wasn't that Hansu didn't want to pamper her like he did Haru - it wasn't like he didn't think of Taehyun as his dear daughter - but seeing other girls with their fathers, it never fit for him. It really didn't
As the evening wen't on, dread began to build up in Hansu until finally, he took out his phone to check what had happened.
Hansu's blood ran cold as he took in the multitude of messages that he could see - not from Taehyun, but from Ravi and Hwa. One twin was panicking about Taehyun going undercover (undercover? Since when had Taehyun done that... He really hadn't seen much of her recently, had he?) and the other was angry at him because apparently Hobin and Taehyun were trying to get in contact with him.
There was also a call from the kid that Taehyun had taken under her wing. Seong Yohan, if Hansu remembered properly.
Groaning, he massaged his forehead and was about to call back on one of the missed calls as he heard from near the door,
"Taehyun-ie, I'm surprised you came. And you brought - friends." The way Mrs. Park's voice became stilted, Hansu could tell it was definitely someone Taehyun had either (a) befriended, (b) beat up, (c) done both to, or (d) decided she was a better guardian figure for as compared to their most likely trashy parents - or even all of them. That happened at times as well. Worriedly, he made his way to next to So-hyun, who only stared at their daughter in shock. Well, it was to be expected - the last time she'd seen Taehyun in person was her 12th birthday and the last time she'd seen her online was a few days before Dowoon's death.
Now, Taehyun stood at about a couple of centimeters taller than his wife - whose height was at 186 centimeters herself, so nothing to scoff at. Taehyun's - no, the jacket she'd probably borrowed from Ravi - hooded leather jacket was tied around around her waist. dressed in a half-sleeved white shirt and blue jeans, her musculature on display was easily close to - and maybe even more defined than - Mrs. Park's and So-hyun's.
Pairing all of that with the black nail polish and eyeliner she'd taken to wearing and Converses that seemed to pair with her newly cut hair (it was back to black again, Hansu noted albeit the light brown highlights Taehyun had kept) , she wouldn't have even looked that different.
No, what looked odd was the tattooed boy who came up to Hansu's height that looked at Taehyun with confusion in his eyes as he supported her subtly (if anyone recognized the supporting your injured, crazy friend who somehow could fake being fine very well, it would be him and Kim).
On the other side, stood Yohan, who wore that admittedly well-designed God Dog hoodie he'd made and bent down to take off his shoes. Behind the three of them was a relatively tall young woman who seemed to be around that Yoo Hobin's height with red lip gloss and a black wolf cut, dressed in a white hoodie and black cargo pants. Hansu ignored the hint of Yamazaki tattoos on her arms as he turned to Taehyun.
Hansu didn't notice how Yohan quickly loosened the laces on Tahyun's shoes, but he definitely noticed the slight wince she did as she made her way to the couch.
With a grin, Taehyun was about to greet them as she transferred the bags she held to another hand, saying,
"Sorry I'm late, Abba - there were some things I needed to take care of. I picked up Haru's capoiera uniform on the way and that cake you asked me to pick up and-." She froze as she looked down and met her mother's eyes - So-hyun ah frozen as she stared at her daughter.
Well, this really wasn't the way Hansu had planned on breaking the news, but -.
"Taehyun, your mom will be in Korea for a few months."

Got anything for big bro Saeyoung with a teen!mc that ends up in the apartment because they got kicked out? Maybe they find Minji already there, maybe they’re by themselves, up to you
…🙃🥲
Cold.
It was a winter afternoon and no amount of trying to bundle yourself up made the chill go away. It clung to you like a fine layer of dust... if only you were in an attic, you thought. That would've been better for your health, right? You weren't sure how long you might make it with the cold snipping at your nose. How long did it take before you felt a bevy of flu symptoms?
You had no place to go, at least, no place that you knew that would be safe to talk about what happened. You didn't want to talk about what happened. You just wanted to go somewhere, lay down, and not think about anything for the next couple of days, if not forever. There was too much on your mind and not enough layers to keep you warm from the cold.
Despite the exhaustion you felt, you decided there was only one place you could turn to, even if it meant you might end up on the worst line of questioning. You knew the RFA would look out for you. You knew they would care for you! But, you didn't want to tell them about what happened.
You didn't want to talk about it even if they could make it better... you just wanted somewhere to cry for as long as you wanted. You knew it would be warm at the apartment, if nothing else, and if you lied for a single day about what happened, you wouldn't have to worry about it just yet. The members were all so kind to you even since you met the lot of them. They were like a second family.
Right now, you wished they were your family.
Your real family.
Big brothers, big sisters, and a place to call home.
With tears still in your eyes, you knocked the door to the apartment and called out, "Hello?" If you didn't get a response, you knew how to get inside. Saeyoung told you the password if you wanted drop by. It wasn't a secret anymore, after all. As a junior member, you liked when you could work with Minji and Yoosung on coordinating activities.
It gave you something to look forward to on the weekends.
The door open with a small whine and you found yourself staring up at Minji, who seemed perplexed and then concerned by the look on your face. She said nothing and helped you inside, letting you rest on the couch while she brewed some hot chocolate and let you warm up from the cold. She was nice like that, never pressing too hard on the reason why someone might be upset, always considerate before she said a word.
It wasn't long before you heard a phone ring.
You knew who that was.
But, you were too cold to care about listening in on the phone call Minji had with Saeyoung. You just wanted to sleep. You shivered, a chill still stuck to your spine when Minji returned to you a couple of minutes later. The hot chocolate she handed you was warm, hot to the touch but not overwhelming.
She beamed, "Here you go, lemondrop!"
You didn't have the heart to respond.
In fact, you didn't speak to her at all until another knock came at the door, and when you saw bright red hair come through the door not even a second after that, you continued to stare down at your mug. They knew. You didn't even have to tell them what happened. Was it written all over your face? Or, did Saeyoung go looking around to see what happened before you got here? Did he see you sleep on a street corner the night before?
Wordlessly, he sat next to you and offered his arm. You leaned into his embrace and wept silently.
"It's okay, little starlight. Your big brother is here and he won't let you be afraid of the cold anymore, okay? We're going to do everything we can to help you, just know you've always got a home with us. We're a family, and you're a part of it."

a/n: here is a small drabble that has been rotting in my docs for so long already.. ㅠㅠ after watching TOO MANY (oops-) videos with jeonghan with kids i couldn’t stop myself… but hope you’ll enjoy it ! ( ´ ▽ ` ).。♡
Tumblr media
“Gosh y/n, you’re literally an angel!”
Joshua, your brother, said enthusiastically as soon as he walked into your apartment.
Him, together with his wife were invited to a meeting with their old classmates, as it was already 10 years after their highschool graduation. However, the problem was that they couldn’t go there with their 3 years old daughter, Minji as they wouldn’t probably have that much time to give her the attention. Come on, after all they really wanted to meet their friends calmly, even though Minji wasn’t a big troublemaker.
So you decided to help your sibling, and for one day you volunteered to take care of the girl. You consulted everything with Miyoon, Joshua’s wife, so when your brother got to know that you’ll take care of Minji while they’ll be gone for a day, he was all over the moon as the problem of who they should leave their daughter with was giving him sleepless nights.
Your brother gently placed his 3 year old in your arms, kissing her cheek sweetly to which she let out a cute giggle. Miyoon was standing silently right next to Joshua. She was smiling lovely, while looking at her daughter and husband with such admiration shining in her eyes.
You chuckled, “Seriously! It's no problem for me. Spending time with this little sweetheart is pure pleasure, and taking care of her is hassle-free. Right, Minji?” the girl in your arms placed her head in the crook of your neck, while nodding gently.
Your brother cooed at Minji’s reaction and you laughed under your nose, while hugging the little girl closer to your body.
“I hope that she won’t cause any problems though.” Miyoon uttered, making you shift your eyes at her.
“If anything would happen, let us know immediately, and we’ll drive back to pick her up.” the girl added with Joshua nodding at her words, and you sent them a reassuring smile while affirming to them that you’ll call instantly if something happens.
“Minji mostly goes to sleep at 8 PM and if she’ll have any troubles with falling asleep, you can heat up some milk for her, she really likes it. But you can also read her a bedtime story or hum a song.” Joshua said in the doorway, and you placed the girl on the floor to run around your apartment with her favorite plushie in her hand.
She immediately ran up to your golden retriever, who was happily observing what’s happening the whole time.
You smiled at your brother with pity visible on your face, “Shua, please. It’s not my first time taking care of Minji.” you crossed your hands over your chest, “Seriously. You don’t have to worry about us.”
Miyoon chuckled as she watched how flustered Joshua got at your point. Then she gently patted his arm, “Babe, we need to get going. We still have around 2.5 hours to drive.” she muttered softly, and your brother nodded at her words while sending her his bright smile.
For the last time, Joshua and Miyoon thanked you, and (hesitantly) the two of them finally left your apartment, leaving you with Minji who was currently busy gently petting Seoli, your dog.
You watched her from the side for a bit, before you melted at her cutest behavior. Slowly, you approached them and Seoli immediately ran up to you, bringing Minji right after her. The girl gripped tightly around your leg, showing her gummy smile to you.
“Hi angel.” you crouched down, and poked Minji’s cheek to which the girl let out an adorable giggle. She wrapped her arms around your neck and hugged you tightly, making you smile widely.
Tumblr media
“Please hold still, auntie! I’ll get the band-aid for you~” Minji melodized, and she ran quickly towards her pink backpack where she had all of her toys hidden, looking for the band-aid for you.
You two were in the middle of playing ‘doctor and patient’ and you sat on the couch, acting as if something happened on your cheek. Minji of course was the doctor, and she played as if she had to cure you.
Seoli, already tired after following everything you two did, was now laying on the fluffy carpet next to the sofa, silently observing both of you.
It was already 3 hours since Joshua and Miyoon left, and you were desperately trying to do anything with Minji until the time where you two would eat lunch, and then take a small nap.
So during this whole time, you already drew and coloured in Minji’s coloring books, played with her tiny animal figurines, played in a hairstylist, and had a small snack break.
But all of it was actually pretty much fun and you couldn’t complain. Minji was a really cute and happy child, which she probably got from her amazing father. However, she also got the softness and care that you could observe in the way of how she treated you as the ‘doctor’, from her sweet mother.
After a minute, Minji ran back to you with a pink colored band-aid that had smiley butterflies on it. She sat on the couch to get closer to you, and started sticking the band-aid to your cheek.
The girl was doing it with such patience and focus that it gave you an opportunity to look closer at her. And you immediately noticed how beautiful her eyes looked, as she had taken after Shua.
You were always jealous of your brother’s eyes as he was the one who got your mom’s eyes. Even though your eyes also looked similar to his, you also had a lot from your father.
The girl started to giggle as she was excited, and you couldn’t help but melt at her cutest behavior. And just as Minji was about to finish sticking the band-aid, the two of you twitched as you heard a voice in the room.
“Did I miraculously wake up in the future, and you’re playing with our little daughter?” your boyfriend’s still a little hoarse voice rang in your ears, immediately putting your heart in calm, bringing a warm smile to your lips. But you couldn’t stop blushing because of his statement.
“What? Hannie, no!” you chuckled at his words and added “This is literally my niece!” to which the boy pouted in disappointment because of the harsh reality (deep down, he really hoped that you would say yes).
“How are you, hm? Do you feel better?” you asked, smiling at him as the boy approached the two of you slowly, laying down on the couch while placing his head on your lap.
“Yup. I feel much better now, love.” Jeonghan replied smoothly, while getting comfortable on your lap.
Then he shifted his eyes on Minji, who was already observing him, curious about his sudden appearance. The boy smiled at her to which she smiled brightly, tilting her head to the side.
“I think you have a real patient here, Minji.” you chuckled under your nose, “Uncle Jeonghan had a biiiig~ headache this morning, so maybe you can take care of him now.” you started to gently play with Jeonghan’s dark hair.
It was really soft in the touch that you couldn’t stop yourself from playing with it, and starting to loosely braid it. Not as if Jeonghan minded you doing that.
The girl nodded happily while running again to her backpack, taking all of the needed supplies to play with Jeonghan.
“Should I be scared?” Jeonghan whispered to you with a playful smile on his lips, looking at the pink band-aid still stuck to your cheek.
“No, don’t worry.” you chuckled softly, glancing at Minji who was busy searching for her toys, “Doctor Hong is really gentle with her doings.” you added, and Jeonghan chuckled as you sent him a bright grin.
Not so long after, Minji joined you two again and Jeonghan was forced to (unfortunately) sit up from your lap as she started to play with him.
You observed all of this silently from the side, with a big smile on your face, and your heart growing with love. The way Jeonghan was playing with her, using his baby voice while speaking with her, and treating her gently as if she was the most fragile thing in the world was making it really hard for you not to fall in love with him even deeper — if that was even possible.
“Auntie!” Minji’s voice snapped you out of your thoughts, to which you quickly moved your attention to her.
“Yes, sweetheart?”
“You have to give uncle Jeonghan a kiss.
You froze.
“W-what?” you stuttered, and the girl blinked at you with confusion.
“You have to give a kiss of love to uncle, so it will make him feel better! You know.. kiss of love! He said that his head still hurts..” Minji pouted, and looked at you with her shining, doe eyes.
Oh.. how could you refuse her?
So you looked at the main reason for your currently pink cheeks, and your eyes immediately locked with Jeonghan’s, dark one’s. His gaze was addicting for you. You could stare into it all day long.
But the way he was looking at you right now, with that smirk and playfulness dancing freely in his eyes, was making you feel really flustered.
“Come on, y/n. You have to give me a kiss~” Jeonghan urged you, holding himself from laughing out loud because of how much he loved to tease you this way.
You knew that he was feeling fine now, and that his head didn’t hurt anymore. It was normal for Jeonghan that sometimes when he came home late after an exhausting day, the boy got headaches as soon as he woke up in the morning. That’s how you always made him stay in bed and sleep more, most of the time with you by his side.
But now, he was just using the fact that you had a soft spot for Minji (and also for him) so you couldn’t refuse her requests. And without any other choice left for you, slowly, you leaned closer and placed a sweet kiss on Jeonghan’s forehead. But just when you were about to pull back, his hands softly cupped your cheeks and attached his lips to yours, connecting you in a real kiss.
Quickly realizing what just happened, you pulled away from the boy, making him confused at your sudden change. Minji was squealing from happiness while jumping on the couch and hugging you tightly. Gently, you hit Jeonghan’s arm while trying to act as if you’re mad at him. The boy let out a giggle that made you smile even wider.
“Now I feel much better.” Jeonghan uttered, to which you snorted and rolled your eyes at his behavior, resting your chin on top of snuggling to you Minji.
Tumblr media
“Are you ready, Ji?”
Jeonghan asked with a big smile shining on his lips, feeling as excited as the little girl who was currently jumping beside him. He was crouching in front of her while trying to help her put on her jacket and a fluffy hat with bear ears on the top.
You were tying your shoes as your lips curved into a soft smile. Your boyfriend was chasing after Minji through your apartment as just a second ago the girl stole his scarf. The sight of how Jeonghan was happy with your niece was making you chuckle, while feeling warm deep in your heart.
As the snow continued to fall throughout the day, you all decided to go on a walk and play for some time in the snow. Minji immediately accepted that idea, saying that she really wants to go out with her favorite (right after her parents) people, and see the snow.
“You guys can already leave, I’ll join you in a second.” you stated, and Jeonghan nodded at your words with a soft smile spreading on his lips.
He quickly tapped Minji’s head, shouting, “Tag, you’re it!”
Then he ran out from the apartment, just to have Minji running just behind him, screaming his name.
You decided to pack a snack for Minji in your bag in case she gets hungry, and also take warmer clothes for the three of you. You had no idea for how long you’re going to be out, and as it was already the middle of January, so the evenings were really cold.
That’s why you took a small, pastel pink hoodie from Minji’s bag with spare clothes that her lovely parents left for her, and two Jeonghan’s sweatshirts (one for him, and also one for you of course). Some hand warmers and you were ready to go.
Being in a relationship with Jeonghan for almost 5 years now (and 15 years in friendship), has taught you many things. For example, you should always watch your back, if he’s not planning to pull any of his stupid pranks on you (which you actually adored). Always watch his hand movements carefully, he will always try to cheat. Never let him in the kitchen or you want to get it burned down.
And also his really low cold tolerance. He could get cold really easily, so you always had to be one step ahead by having a hand warmer hidden somewhere in the pocket of your coat for him. His reaction was always the best as he always got shy when you sneaked the hot pack into his hand, ostensibly to hold his hand.
As you finished zipping your bag, you were finally done with packing all of the necessary things. You took your keys from the drawer and left the apartment, locking the door behind you.
When you left the building, Minji was clinging to Jeonghan’s arm, who was crouching, busy doing something. From this proximity you couldn’t really tell what they were doing, but as soon as you got closer, you noticed a stray cat sitting by them.
Jeonghan was petting its head gently, cooing at the cat while Minji was observing everything behind Jeonghan’s arm. A smile spread on your lips as you approached them.
“Only a minute without me, and you already found my replacement. You are so toxic, guys.” you chuckled, and the two of them raised their heads to look at you.
Jeonghan quickly sent you an ‘are-you-serious-right-now’ look, before getting up and gently kissing your cheek. He placed his hands on your waist, pulling you closer to him.
“And only a minute without me, and you’re already saying nonsense, love.” he uttered as he sent you a lazy smirk, cupping your face with his hands.
“I would have never replaced you.” Jeonghan left a sweet kiss on your lips, to which you quickly turned away when he pulled away from you, chuckling at your sudden reaction.
You hoped he wouldn't notice that rose blush which suddenly appeared on your cheeks. But you blamed it on the cold weather, not the fact that you got embarrassed. However, the butterflies in your stomach were saying the opposite.
Minji observed you the whole time, wearing a gummy smile. The hat which was falling over her eyes was making her look adorable. She was struggling to see anything, but Jeonghan was quick to notice it. He untangled himself from you, and fixed her hat with a small pat on her head and a baby-voiced coo.
Jeonghan as usually had to forget to take his own hat. The snowflakes that were gently falling down the sky rested on top of his dark hair strands. His cheeks were already tinted in light pink from the cold breeze, making him look even more breathtaking.
Quickly, you took out a hat with long bunny ears that you also decided to pack, and put it on Jeonghan’s head. Gosh, he looked so cute in it.
In the meantime, the stray cat ran away somewhere, and you decided to finally start your small stroll to the park that was located in your neighborhood.
Minji was quick to hold Jeonghan’s and your hands, ready to walk with you two by her sides. You had to walk much slower than usual because of her small steps, but you didn’t complain. The already setting sun looked alluring, with the pink and violet rays spreading on the sky.
Suddenly, the girl unhooked her hands, and ran straight towards the open area with lots of snow on it. She jumped into it, giggling, while taking the snow into her hands and throwing it above her. You followed right after her, playing together with the snow.
What you didn’t expect to happen next was a snowball hitting your arm. When you looked to the side, you quickly noticed the culprit, laughing soundly with a playful grin on his face.
“Come on, Minji,” you grasped her hand, “We have to win this battle.” a smirk spread over your lips as the little girl giggled in excitement.
And that’s how your snowball battle started. You couldn’t believe it but while playing, you suddenly felt as if you were 15 again, having a battle with your friends after you finished your classes. When Jeonghan and you were only friends, and when you never imagined that in the future you’ll fall for each other.
It’s obvious that at the end Jeonghan of course ended up winning against you two (you still question if he didn’t cheat while . But you didn’t really care about that. Him still being with you after all those years, smiling like a kid, having his best time with your beloved niece was more than enough to make you feel happy.
Tumblr media
Hot chocolate tastes the best after playing in the snow. And you can’t disagree with that.
The three of you got back home 30 minutes after you finished the battle in the snow. Your clothes were all wet and Minji was already whining about how her legs hurt, so on the way back home Jeonghan gave her a piggy ride.
After changing into some fresh and most importantly dry clothes, Jeonghan was quick to suggest that you all should drink hot chocolate to warm up. Minji, having her uncle as the most amazing person after giving her a piggy ride home, begged you to make them hot chocolate.
And that’s how you ended up in this situation — Minji sitting on Jeonghan’s lap, snuggled into his chest. She was already done drinking her hot chocolate, watching a cartoon on the TV.
The boy kept stroking her hair gently, putting her into a deep sleep. Jeonghan’s warmth, together with the tiredness and soft sound of the programme they were watching, worked like a lullaby for Minji’s exhausted body.
You sat beside them, not being able to focus on anything else than the love of your life acting like your niece is his own child.
“Should we put her to her bed?” Jeonghan whispered after a while as he looked at you, his hand still on Minji’s head, hugging her closely.
“Yeah, I think so.” you replied softly, “She already fell asleep, so it’s even better.” you smiled, and the two of you got up from the couch as quietly as you could to not wake the little girl up.
When Jeonghan went to the guest room with Minji, you sent a short text to Joshua, saying that Minji is already sleeping and everything’s alright. You left your phone on the coffee table and went after Jeonghan to the guest’s room, stopping in the door frame. You leaned against it, observing how your boyfriend was gently tugging Minji to sleep.
When he finally noticed you standing behind him, he sent you a questioning look with a smile spreading over his lips. You chuckled softly, shaking your head as you headed to your bedroom. But on the way there, a pair of arms quickly sneaked over your waist.
You let out a squeak when the boy suddenly lifted you up, spinning you around. “Hannie, put me down!” you whispered firmly while laughing, as you didn’t want to wake Minji up.
“But I don’t want toooo~” he whined, keeping his face in the nape of your neck, but eventually the boy placed you back on the ground, turning you around to face him.
“You know..” you started, placing your arms around his neck, “I didn’t know that you’re that good at taking care of kids.”
“Oh please,” he laughed, “What am I not good at in the first place.”
“Hmm, I don’t think there is something like that.” you looked deeply into his eyes, which shone brightly in happiness and tenderness.
Jeonghan leaned down and placed a soft kiss on your nose before suddenly lifting you up in a bridal style, taking you to your bedroom (despite your protests).
He gently placed you on the bed as if you were the most fragile thing before showering your entire face and neck with butterfly kisses. Your giggles filled the room, enjoying your sweet time together.
Tumblr media
It was already past midnight when Jeonghan came out of the bathroom. He had his hair still slightly damp after showering. You were laying in your bed, scrolling through social media. Joshua posted some photos from the gathering, and seeing your brother together with his wife, enjoying their time was making you feel really happy.
“What are you looking at?” Jeonghan asked suspiciously, observing how widely you smiled.
He dried his hair with a towel while standing at the end of the bed. But when you didn’t reply to him, the boy immediately pouted, annoyed that you’re paying more attention to something in your phone than him.
“Hello?” he said louder, crossing his arms over his chest.
“Oh yes, sorry. Joshie posted photos from the gathering, and they look so happy together.” you explained in awe, showing him the pictures in your phone. Jeonghan only hummed in response, not really interested, while putting the towel aside.
You could immediately notice a shift in his behavior, so you put your phone on the bedside table. Jeonghan got under the bedsheets next to you, quickly pulling your body closer to him.
You looked at him worriedly, “Hannie, what’s wrong?” you asked, but the boy just snuggled closer to you. Gosh, he’s so clingy.
“Nothing, let’s just cuddle.” he muttered tiredly, quickly earning a chuckle which in a split of a second caused the corner of his lips to raise.
While being tangled in his protective arms, you talked about the day, how much you enjoyed it and how much you’d want to experience something like this once again. Jeonghan (being already half asleep) listened to your subdued voice, humming in agreement.
What you didn’t expect was to suddenly hear a faint knock on your door. Quickly, you straightened up on the bed, unfortunately hitting Jeonghan at the same time. You whispered a soft sorry as the woken up boy looked at you, pouting while massaging his jawline.
You got out of the bed, and approached the door. On the other side you found a teary-eyed Minji, gripping her plushie tightly in her hand. The bare sight made your heart swell immediately.
“Minji, baby, what happened?” you asked her as you crouched in front of her, bringing her close to you, “Did you have a nightmare?” you added, while hugging her to your body.
You could only hear Minji’s sniffs, “Y-yes.” she whispered, snuggling into the crook of your neck.
Trying to calm her down, you picked her up and you got back to the bed. Jeonghan was already sitting, observing you silently with worry written all over his face.
You sat on the edge of the bed, Minji sat on your laps while hugging you tightly. Her sniffles were already gone, but you kept stroking her back and swaying her shaking body. Jeonghan took some tissues from the bedside table, and shuffled closer to you on the bed, gently wiping Minji’s tears away.
When the girl was finally calmed down, you looked at her shiny and slightly red eyes, and smiled.
“Do you want to sleep with us tonight?” you asked.
Oh. If only you knew how Jeonghan’s heart skipped a beat when he heard you spoke those words. Through out the day, he actually started to feel more as if Minji was his own daughter, and seeing you, so gentle and careful with the little girl only confirmed his thoughts about you being his only one.
Minji nodded, and you quickly took her off your knees, placing her in the middle of the bed. As your bed was king size, there was no problem for you three to sleep together.
Jeonghan helped Minji lay down, bringing her plushie closer to her. You also got back under the sheets, laying down next to your niece.
As previously, your boyfriend started to stroke her head, and also between her eyes as he once read somewhere that gently stroking that place makes babies fall asleep faster. The whole time you were looking at Jeonghan, as he was focused on putting Minji to sleep.
Surprisingly, that advice which Jeonghan used turned out to be true, because soon later Minji was back in her sweet slumber, and you two could finally go to sleep.
You were still looking at him, and when your eyes met, you felt those butterflies in your stomach waking up again. You found Jeonghan handsome and very attractive almost every time. When he had his hair done perfectly, with his black shirt on and that stupid smirk. When he was helping you cook something, politely obeying your orders. And when he was completely focused during building his lego sets.
But this sight. Oh dear lord, please have some mercy.
Him in front of you, in the most natural circumstances ever, with his dark hair soft but slightly messy, his shirt falling down a bit too low while exposing one of his collarbones, laying in the same bed with you and being the same (or even more) exhausted than you. It felt different.
He was the most beautiful, the most attractive and the most handsome person you’ve ever laid your eyes on.
“Angel, I know I’m handsome, but you don’t have to stare at me like that.” he commented with a smirk spreading on his lips.
You quickly got back out from that daze, “Oh shut up.” you whispered, while turning around in the bed, making him face your back.
“Good night, love.”
“Good night, Hannie.”
Tumblr media
Just when you thought that nothing could look better than Jeonghan last night, you got your thinking changed once again.
Waking up in the morning with the sun’s light rays resting on the floor and walls of your bedroom, while laying next to your beloved boyfriend, and your niece cuddled up closely to him, officially became your new favorite sight ever.
They looked so fragile, so delicate and so adorable, while sleeping peacefully, that you couldn’t help but take some photos of them.
As soon as you got out of bed (and finished your mini photo session), you went through the new notifications. It was only 8 am, but you still got some throughout the night.
At around 7:30 am, Joshua sent you a text that they will eat breakfast now, and then try to leave around 9:00 am. So you still had 4 hours until they arrived.
After dressing yourself up as quietly as you could, you walked out of the room, closing the door behind you. You decided not to wake them up, but surprise them with breakfast.
You spent some time debating over what you should make, and if it should be savory or sweet, but you eventually chose to make sweet breakfast. Quickly, you began to make the batter for the waffles, also preparing coffee for Jeonghan and you while Seoli accompanied you. You of course didn’t forget to also give her food.
After some time, you were already making the waffles when a pair of arms suddenly sneaked around your waist, with the feeling of someone’s chin on your shoulder.
“You left the bed too early today,” Jeonghan’s still a little bit hoarse voice sounded right by your ear, as you were busy putting the done waffles on the plates, “You know I like to wake up and see your face as the first thing in the morning.”
“I know, I know, Hannie,” you laughed, pouring the batter into the waffle mold, “But I wanted to make a surprise for you two. Speaking of, where is Minji?” you asked, turning around to face Jeonghan.
Oh shit. He looked breath-taking.
“I helped with her morning toilet, and then we went to the living room. She is busy with her coloring books, but still kind of sleepy.” Jeonghan explained, and you nodded at his words.
The boy grabbed his cup of coffee, and took a sip before leaving a soft kiss on your cheek while saying thank you. You smiled back at him, finishing the waffles.
Soon, you took all of the waffles that you prepared, and placed them on the table. In the meanwhile, Jeonghan took out all of the toppings for the waffles, and went back to get Minji.
When you finally sat down, your boyfriend came into the kitchen with Minji holding his hand, and slowly walking towards you right by his side. As soon as she noticed the waffles on the table, she sprinted towards the chair and quickly got on top of it, already taking one of the waffles. Jeonghan joined right after her, and the three of you began to eat your breakfast.
The rest of the morning went really fast. Jeonghan dressed in something else than his pyjamas while you helped Minji to pick her outfit. Then you finally did your makeup, and the three of you just spent more time together.
You didn’t understand how it’s possible, that even with your tendency to have a low social battery, you didn’t feel tired or bored by your boyfriend and niece. It felt so natural now to have them around, that you just got used to it.
While Minji was playing with your dog, and Jeonghan was teaching her how to make Seoli do the tricks, you were busy thinking about how you actually can see your future like this.
Now, after yesterday, you were sure that you could picture your future with Jeonghan, and even see yourself as a mother. You were sure that the boy would be the best father, spoiling his kid while also pulling his stupid pranks on you with them.
But you were sure that with him it was possible.
A few hours later, a doorbell’s sound rang in your flat. Seoli immediately ran to bark at the person behind the door, but you were sure it was Shua with Miyoon. And you weren’t wrong. As soon as you opened the door you could see the young parents standing in front of you, greeting you happily as you kept Seoli from jumping on them.
Seconds later, Jeonghan came from behind the corner with Minji in his arms. She had her head pressed to his cheek, observing patiently who came over. And just when she saw her mommy and daddy, she grinned happily and wiggled in Jeonghan’s arms. The boy put her down, and she ran straightfully to her parents. They hugged their daughter closely, and Jeonghan joined your side, placing his arm over your waist.
“We hope she didn’t cause you any problems.” Miyoon uttered, patting the little girl’s head.
“No, not at all!” you quickly protested, “Minji is such an angel, we spent an amazing time together.” you leaned your head on Jeonghan’s shoulder.
“She’s the cutest. I’m so jealous of your daughter.” Jeonghan commented, earning a laugh from everyone.
You handed Joshua all Minji’s things that they brought, and it was finally time to say goodbye.
“Nooo! I don’t wanna say goodbye!” Minji whined, while cuddling to your leg.
“Ji, baby, you’ve been with your aunt and uncle for a whole day. Now we have to go back to our house.” Joshua explained, “We have to let auntie and uncle get some rest.”
“But I love them so much..”
You couldn’t control the coo that left your lips as soon as the girl said how much she loved you and Jeonghan. Your boyfriend only smiled briefly, observing everything.
“You’ll see them soon again.” Miyoon took Minji’s hand, bringing her closer to her to put the hat on her head.
“Promise?”
“Promise.” you replied, while intertwining your pinky finger with hers, “You’ll probably see us earlier than you might think.”
“I can’t wait already!” she shouted enthusiastically, and for the last time Minji hugged you and Jeonghan tightly, and patted Seoli. Then, the young parents left your flat, leaving you two alone, again.
Suddenly, Jeonghan let out a groan which startled you by the sudden action.
He headed towards the living room, “I want to have a kid.” he whined, and you chuckled under your breath, following Jeonghan’s steps.
“You know, we still can have one in the future.” you answered, and the boy immediately turned around, looking at you with his eyes widened and his mouth parted a little bit. “Only if you want one.”
Jeonghan was quick to run up to you, and spin you around, while holding you tightly. Your giggles filled the room once again, being the prettiest melody to your boyfriend’s ears.
“Of course I do, my love.”
He was sure. Jeonghan was sure that he couldn’t wait no more, and that maybe it was the right time to take out that velvet box which he hid deeply in the drawer by the bed, and finally put it into use.
Because he knew one thing. That if he wanted to spend his entire life together with someone, then it had to be with you.

Tumblr media
Sneak Peek
Jimin’s knuckles drum on the wooden door as he waits for Minji or her faceless new roommate to open the door for him.
He hears shuffling on the other side of the door but the door doesn’t open just yet.
“Who is this?” a voice asks. Since it’s not Minji - it must be the roommate, Jimin thinks.
“Ah.. I am Jimin, Minji’s friend.” he replies. He decides to introduce himself as her friend, of course, he can’t say: hey hi, I am here to fuck Minji in your shared home.
“Oh. okay.'' The voice seems to be convinced as the person on the other side finally opens the door wide enough for him to enter.
If Jimin stops breathing for a moment then he doesn’t dwell upon it.
Minji’s new roommate, you, are absolutely the most beautiful woman he has ever seen.
Your hair cascades down your shoulders, you have a small face with a set of big doe eyes, a pair of nice pink lips and a not-so-well-shaped nose.
By no means do you look like a model or a beauty pageant winner. But you very much look like a person completely capable of captivating Park Jimin with a single glance.

Sweet Tropical Fusion ~ JiU
A/N: Hi guys, girls, and non-binary pearls! I hope you are well. ❤️
TW: None!
♡ Masterlist ♡ 》》》 Prompt List
Tumblr media
A Tropical Fusion Slushie brings everything summer back to mind. The sweet breeze that flows through the trees keeps everyone wide awake, but the sour tidal wave may pull you under if you're not careful.
"JiU-ah!" You call out as the warm summer rays cover your skin. "Thanks for inviting me out with you and SuA!"
"You know that I love to have you out with us." JiU gently intertwines her fingers with yours as you walk across the boardwalk while SuA runs towards the ocean.
"I like hanging out with the both of you too!" You exclaim as you happily walk by her side.
"Ah, Y/N?"
"Yes?" You tilt your head in her direction as a slight blush appears on her face.
"I have something to ask you…" She trails off while looking at the ocean, and you squeeze her hand in reassurance.
"Ask me anything you would like. I'm all ears!" You excitedly say as she giggles and stops walking.
You stop along with her before she takes your other hand in yours, and you turn to fully face her as JiU looks into your eyes.
"Perhaps this is too forward of me… but I would like to go on a date with you, as just the two of us. I like being around you when there's plenty of people around, but a part of me just wants to be with you when there's no one else around." JiU admits, and you gasp before pulling her towards you.
"JiU… I would love nothing more! I've actually had a crush on you for a while, but I was too scared to say anything. Let me know when you decide on a date and time." You sweetly say as JiU squeezes your hands.
"It would be my pleasure to go on a date with you. I'll let you know when the details are done."

“I think I could really miss out on P.E today,” you sighed as you slung your gym bag over your shoulder and followed your friends out of the classroom.
“You could always miss out on P.E, y/n,” Siyeon corrected with a raised eyebrow. “I remember in middle school there was a time where you purposely forgot your gym clothes every. single. week.”
“Eh? For real?” Minji chimed in in surprise.
“Yupp, even got detention for it, but showed up without again the week after.”
“Let bygones be bygones already, Siyeon,” you complained, a little uncomfortable about her bringing it up. Not that it wasn’t true, but you’d had your reasons at the time. Now however you simply didn’t like sports. You weren’t very good, especially with ball sports, and you knew you’d get an earful about it if you got hurt.
“Fine,” she agreed, almost disappointed to drop the topic. Minji on the other hand didn’t mind much, her attention grabbed by something else—or more accurately: someone else. The guys from the basketball team were coming your way, Juyeon, Jacob and, of course, Hyunjae. Minji seemed absolutely delighted; it wasn’t a secret that she basically crushed on all of them. You weren't half as excited about this. When Hyunjae met your gaze, a small grin tugged at his lips and he came your way. You let out a groan. You really weren’t in the mood for this.
“What a passionate greeting,” he said with a small shake of his head, “is that any way to treat your beloved classmate?”
“We’re not even in the same class, Jaehyun.”
He dramatically clutched his heart. “So cold, y/n, so cold.” Then his gaze fell onto your gym bag. “P.E? Really?”
“Yup. We’re playing basketball.”
He scrunched up his face. “If only you were half as gifted as me.”
“It’s not like I want to play either. But I’m hardly the one making the class schedule now, am I?”
“Right. Guess there’s no way around it. Just don’t fall again, those were some nasty bruises last week.”
“Mhm,” you rolled your eyes. “I’ll try my best.”
“Well sadly, your best isn’t all that good, y/n. You know, I could give you some pointers.”
“Nah, thanks, I can handle myself.”
“That’s just empty words,” he complained, “I need a bit more than that to feel reassured.”
“If the ball comes my way I’ll just catch it with my face,” you deadpanned before pushing past him.
“Not funny!" He yelled after you but you didn’t turn around again, just giving him a half-assed wave over your shoulder.
A second later, Minji was jogging up next to you, completely baffled by the whole interaction. “How do you know Hyunjae?! Do you have something going on?”
“Ew, no,” you immediately replied.
“But he clearly cares for you!”
“For me?” You couldn’t help but chuckle. “Hardly.”
Siyeon came up between the two of you, casually slinging her arm over Minji’s shoulder. “They are soulmates,” she explained matter of factly, “Didn’t you know?”
“He is your soulmate?! Why didn’t you tell me, y/n?”
“It’s not like it’s something to brag about.”
“Duh?! It is! We’re talking about the Lee Hyunjae.”
You made a disgusted face. “Exactly.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In High School, Hyunjae was one of the popular kids. Maybe it was because he was tall or because he played basketball or perhaps it was that charming smile of his—either way, everyone was enamored by him. The guys wanted to be his friend and the girls wanted to get into his bedsheets and even the teachers seemed to like him despite his bold demeanor.
You however felt a little different about him. You’d been in the same school since elementary, so you’d basically seen him grow up. While he was the cool and charming Hyunjae to everyone else, to you he was still Jaehyun, the odd one out, a kid that seemed unable to read the room or purposely didn’t. It wasn’t that he’d never had friends, it was that he couldn’t seem to keep them, sooner or later being left behind for being loud and annoying or for taking one of his pranks too far. The teachers had deemed him a troublemaker, unable to focus and distracting everyone else and your opinion of him wasn’t much better.
You’d found out he was your soulmate in 4th grade, when the bloody knee he got from playing soccer made your own knee turn red and blue. To say you weren’t pleased was an understatement. You had no intention of being close to such a troublesome kid, worried about ruining your grades and tired of his exhausting personality. Any time you spoke to him, you just ended up bickering about his missing homework or him skipping out on cleaning duty. Honestly, it was draining your energy. So, you kept the whole soulmate thing your little secret, never telling him what you’d discovered. It was easy enough—he was never paying attention to you anyway, so he wouldn’t notice if you shared a bruise or two from time to time. You didn’t tell anyone else either. As far as you were concerned, you didn’t have a soulmate. A lot of people didn’t have one anyway and as long as neither of you got hit in the face no one would find out.
You started to reconsider in middle school though. It wasn’t that you suddenly liked him, even if you had to admit that he’d gotten more bearable. He’d calmed down a little and his pranks too were not completely lacking in sensibility and consideration anymore. Actually he was barely playing pranks at all, keeping a low profile more often than not. And there was something else.
At first you’d thought the bruises were from playing soccer again, and you would have told him off to be more careful if that hadn’t meant outing yourself as his soulmate. But you realized he never actually joined the guys playing soccer anymore. And it would barely explain the bruises anyway—if they were on your knees, sure, but on your ribs and upper arms? You had your doubts. As they kept appearing, littering your body to a point where you didn’t dare to change in front of other people anymore, your worries grew. Something was wrong, but you didn’t know how to address it and much less if you should in the first place.
“Long sleeves?” Siyeon asked one day during recess, eyebrows raised in confusion.
“I don’t know, I think it’s kinda cold,” you lied.
“Cold? It’s summer! Y/n, I can literally see the sweat running down your temple.” She shook her head in disbelief. “I swear to god, we only have weirdo’s in this class. Hyunjae is the same.” She nodded over to him. You thought he’d been sleeping, his head resting on his arms, but at the mention of his name he looked up. Your gaze briefly met, and for a second there was an odd expression on his face, his eyes lingering on your covered up arms for a second too long. You felt your chest tighten, thinking he knew, and for the first time it wasn’t the soulmate part that frightened you. More than that you worried about the fact that you knew such a deeply vulnerable thing about him. You weren’t close, so surely he wouldn’t want you to know. You opened your mouth, wondering if you should say something, but then he turned back around, resting his head on his desk again as if nothing had happened. Maybe his odd gaze had just been your imagination.
You didn’t go swimming even once that summer, and you assumed neither did he, because the bruises never really left, new ones coming before old ones could heal. You skipped out on P.E class claiming you forgot your things, or changed on the toilet instead and no one seemed to question it, deciding it must simply be a rebellious phase for you. You knew it couldn’t continue like this, but you felt so helpless, caught up in something that shouldn’t be your business. With the history you shared, what could you even say, that wouldn’t sound condescending and meddlesome coming from you? You felt like the issue was slowly eating you up from the inside and a part of you wished you could just wipe off all the bruises and get rid of the connection that tied you to this mess. But even if you could, even if you woke up tomorrow without a single bruise, your skin a blank slate, Hyunjae would still have them. He would still wake up with the same injuries, covering them up for no one to see. It must be lonely, you thought, to go through so much pain all by yourself, hiding it away when really you want someone to notice and hold out a hand to you.
When you spotted him still lingering in the half dark classroom after school was long over, sitting on the floor against the wall and playing something on his phone, you decided to talk to him.
“You’re still here.”
Hyunjae looked up at you, surprise flashing through his eyes, before he focused back on the screen that was casting a blueish light onto his face. “Mhm.” He shrugged. “You gonna rat me out to the teachers?”
“Aren’t you going to go home?”
“Yeah,” he said, but he didn’t show any intention to leave at all.
It wasn’t exactly how you expected the conversation to go. You’d thought it would be easier. Or maybe you were just caught off guard to see him so calm for once, his energy seemingly used up over the course of the day. He wasn’t making snappy comments or bad jokes. He was just sitting there.
At a loss of what to do, you plopped down next to him, leaving some space between you. You glanced at his phone, watching him play. He didn’t comment on it, but you noticed the way he tilted the screen the tiniest bit so you could see better. The two of you probably sat there like that for almost an hour, until a pop up warned him that he was running out of battery.
“Shit,” he grumbled, reluctantly closing the game. He shoved his phone into his pocket, but even then he didn’t stand up.
“You don’t want to go home, do you?” You asked and you didn’t expect him to be honest, but he was.
“No.” He paused for a moment before looking over at you, searching for something in your eyes. A sense of fellowship, perhaps. “What about you? You don’t want to go either?”
You hesitated. “That’s not it.”
“Then why?” But it seemed what he was really asking was how? How do you know then, when you’re not the same as me?
“I was worried.”
“About what?”
“You.”
There was another pause and then he laughed, but it didn’t sound convincing. “Why are you always so meddlesome? You don’t have to bug me about my homework anymore, you know? You’re not my mom and I’m fine.”
“But you’re not,” you insisted.
He looked almost angry now and it was weird to see him like that, because through all the years you’d known him, through all the fights you’d picked with him, you’d never seen him angry, not really. “Don’t act like you know me. You don’t know anything.”
You bit your lower lip and closed your eyes, trying to gather some strength. Your fingers clutched the hem of your shirt, holding onto it with a grip so strong it made your knuckles turn white. “I do know,” you pressed out, your voice trembling as you pulled up your shirt enough to reveal your ribcage. Hyunjae made a choked up noise, but it took you a second longer to find the courage to look at him. When you did, there were tears in his eyes. He looked onto your skin in horror, and you knew that he understood what it all meant. You let the hem of your shirt fall back down.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered and the way he sounded so shaky, so vulnerable, made tears well up in your eyes too. He wrapped his arms around his body, as if that could somehow hide away the truth you both already knew about.
“You have nothing to be sorry about, Jaehyun. It’s not your fault.”
“But I—,” He trailed off. “I’m so sorry.”
“I promise you don’t have to be sorry. And you don’t have to endure it all by yourself either.” You reached out, gently, carefully grazing his hand with your own. To your surprise he didn’t flinch away. Instead, his fingers wrapped around yours. He held onto you like a lifeline, his grip almost painful, but you didn’t complain. In a way you felt grateful that he wasn’t pushing you away. It was weird, because you’d never thought you cared about or liked him. But right in that moment, you thought maybe you did. At the very least you wanted to be someone he could rely on and why would you want that if not because you liked him to some extent?
It would be delusional to think you could magically fix his situation. After all, you were just a kid at the time. But still, you tried to at least be there in ways you could. You’d stay behind after class with him, keeping him company as he played his mobile games. Sometimes you’d use the time to do your homework, and eventually he even joined in, getting you to explain things he had missed due to getting distracted in class. You liked the way his face lit up when he got them right. You were also the one to suggest the basketball club to him. Because you’re tall, you said and it wasn’t a lie, but mainly it was because they practiced late and it gave him a reason to stay behind. You never talked about the bruises again, but you thought they became fewer, the less time he spent at home. Until suddenly, they just stopped appearing.
“We moved,” he ambiguously explained one day, but you understood just fine without him having to say more.
“So…you can go home now?” You asked, looking up from where you were crouched over your math workbooks.
“Yeah.” He paused. “But you still have to explain the homework to me though.”
“Okay,” you smiled and you thought he was smiling too, his head already hunched over the formulas in his book again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“You’re kidding, right?” Hyunjae greeted you as soon as you came out of the changing rooms after class. He was leaning against the wall, clearly having waited for you. His nose was red and slightly bruised.
“Don’t be mean,” you replied with a pout, your voice slightly muffled by the towel you were holding up against your face, “I have a nosebleed.”
“I can see that." He shook his head with a sigh. "I didn’t think you meant it literally when you said you’d stop the ball with your face.”
“Neither did I, but it seems this is what fate wanted.”
“Fate my ass. You just suck at sports.”
“Be grateful you only get the bruise and not the bleeding.”
“Mhm, thanks for not completely ruining my face.” He pushed himself off the wall and started walking down the hallway. After a few steps he turned back around to you. “Stop standing there like a fool. Come.” He didn’t check again if you were coming along, but he didn’t have to because you plodded after him, gym bag in one and the bloody towel in the other hand. Hyunjae stopped in front of the infirmary, knocking but not waiting for a response before pushing the door open. It was empty either way. You awkwardly stood in the doorway while he rummaged through the cabinet.
“Can you not stand there like some playmobil figure? Sit,” he nodded towards the bed in the corner.
“You really keep on insulting me today, huh?” you complained but you plopped down on the mattress anyway.
Hyunjae met your gaze with a grin. “Today? Always.”
“You’re insufferable.”
“Mhm, says the one who gave me a super ugly bruise on my face.” He sat down on the wheeled swivel stool, scooting it over until he was right across from you, a box of wet tissues in his hand. “Now let’s clean up that mess.”
When you lowered the towel he pulled a disgusted face. “That’s so gross.”
“It’s just a nosebleed,” you put the towel up again with a frown, “and I never said I needed your help anyway.”
“Don’t be silly.” Hyunjae moved your hand away and tilted his head to take a proper look. “It’s not bleeding anymore, is it?” He mumbled, carefully wiping away the blood stains beneath your nose. It didn’t seem like he actually wanted a reply, so you stayed quiet, fixing your eyes onto the trees outside the window so you didn’t have to look at him this close up. Maybe it should have felt weird to have him take care of you like this. But it didn’t, because Hyunjae was always like this. Even with all the bickering and arguing, even when his friend circle was so vastly different from your own, when it came down to it he’d have your back.
“Can I ask you something?” you broke the silence while Hyunjae momentarily stopped his ministrations in your face to switch out the tissue.
“You mean what I did to deserve a soulmate as clumsy as you? I’d like to know that too,” he replied as he got back to work, but you ignored the silly comment.
“Why didn’t you try to keep it a secret?”
“What?” He sounded genuinely confused about what you were talking about.
“That we're soulmates. Isn't it embarrassing?”
Hyunjae huffed a laugh, not lifting his focus from where he was getting rid of some blood that had made its way into the corner of your lip. “Why would it be embarrassing?”
“I don’t know. Because you’re one of the cool kids now.”
That put a challenging grin on his face and he glanced up. “You think I’m cool?”
“You know that’s not what I mean.” You rolled your eyes.
“Hm,” he paused to think for a moment. “It just never occurred to me. I don’t think there's anything embarrassing about it. You being my soulmate was never something that seemed worth hiding. And I know you'd never tell anyone the things I do want to hide.”
His words made you feel a little guilty, remembering all too well how keen you’d been on keeping it a secret when you'd first found out.
“To be honest,” Hyunjae continued, “when you told me I felt sorry. But I also thought I got impossibly lucky.”
“Lucky?”
“Yeah,” he stared at his hands as switched out the tissue again, even though there was barely any blood on it. It felt like he was purposely avoiding your gaze, something that didn’t happen all too often. “I really liked you, you know? Even before you told me.”
“But I was so mean to you.”
He tilted his head in confusion. “Really? Were you mean?”
“I was totally mean. I always bugged you to hand in your homework. And I scolded you when you didn’t do your cleaning duty.”
“Yeah. I kinda liked that.”
You let out a snort and it made a new wave of blood gush out from your nose.
“Ew.” Hyunjae scrunched up his face as he held up the tissue to catch the blood.
“Are you a masochist or something?”
“Don’t be like that.” He gave you a dissatisfied pout. “At the time it meant a lot to me. You were the only one who cared enough to get angry. Even the teachers had given up on scolding me. I think I would have repeated a year if it wasn’t for you. So I was grateful. And in middle school too…,” he trailed off. You both knew what he was talking about anyway.
“I didn’t do anything, though. I didn’t do anything to help.”
“You did. You were there for me. You made me feel less alone. I think I have a lot to be grateful for. So there isn’t really any reason for me to be embarrassed about you, is there?”
You felt your cheeks flush with heat, taken off guard by his sincere response. It’d never occurred to you that he could think this way about everything. You hadn’t expected him to value it so much, because you’d always felt like you hadn’t done enough, like you hadn’t been good enough of a soulmate for him. So the way he spoke so fondly about you now almost made you want to tear up.
“Still, isn’t it bothersome?,” you mumbled, trying to distract from how flustered you were. “What if you want to date? Wouldn’t they be put off if they knew you had a soulmate?”
“What, are you worried about my love life?” Hyunjae grinned, “Or is it you who’s bothered, because you think the reason you can’t get any is because of me? Trust me, y/n, that’s not why. It’s just not very attractive to have blood gushing out of your nose.”
“Shut up. I was being—”
“But I might be willing to take responsibility anyway.”
“—serious,” you completed your sentence, before what he’d said actually reached your brain. “What?”
He shrugged. “I’m just saying. If you’re worried about ending up all alone because no one wants a klutz like you, you always have a soulmate to fall back on.” When he looked up, his expression was serious, eyes not shying away from yours. “Fall back on me.”
You’d been sitting way too close this entire time, with him tending to your face, but now that he was looking at you so intently it suddenly made you feel nervous. You almost wanted to pinch yourself to make sure this was actually happening. When you replied your voice came out quiet and a little raspy. “I don’t think it’s considered falling back if I never wanted anyone else to begin with.”
A silly smile spread on his lips, making his eyes form crescents. “It’s because I’m so cool, right?”
You shook your head in disbelief before you let your forehead bump into his. “It’s because you’re such an idiot.”
“Hm,” he hummed, his gaze dropping to your lips, before coming back up to your eyes again. “I think I can live with that.”
You weren’t sure who closed the gap between your lips. Maybe it was you, but it didn’t seem to matter either way, because he cupped your jaw and kissed you back. It tasted a bit like iron and a bit like disinfectant and it still made your heart flutter.
“You know,” he eventually mumbled into your lips with a grin, “your nosebleed is making this kinda gross.”
“Don’t ruin this for us.”
“I’m not ruining it. I’m making it special.”
