Mini Update is Up

Hi everyone! I'm not finished with Chapter 3 Pt. 1 yet, but I'm aware that it's been a hot minute since the last update, and I wanted to give you guys at least a little something in thanks for the patience and understanding that you've shown me. This is why I've uploaded the first 10k words of Chapter 3 to the demo. You can play it here. And if you have thoughts abt the demo, you can send me an ask here, or you can talk about it on the forum.

It's a mini update, but I hope that y'all enjoy it all the same. I've run the game through randomtest so there shouldn't be any errors, but if you find them, please report them back to me. And if you find typos -- of which I'm sure there will be more than I'd like rip -- please feel free to report those too.

Update Time

I just got back from a brief vacay on Sunday. I picked back up where I left off and now writing and proofing for the demo is done. I just need to port everything over to twine. Luckily I have large parts of it already ported, the ui, the stat bars, almost half the story itself. I want to post some of the side stories in as well, just for a little background, but that will be done after the demo is fully coded. It's a much larger beast than I anticipated, thankfully I type fast. I had expected the demo being between 30k-60k. It looks like after code it will come close to over 60k. If coding goes well then it should be out to beta this week. Now time for an energy drink, and go over my excel sheet to make sure all the variables are in order!

8 April 2024: Ishari Tier Patrons ($15)

New to the update:

Added around 37K of code and words. Word count will probably range between 30-35K;

Added more name options at the beginning of the game;

A late-night chat with Zikar (optional);

The Vinia family one-on-one scenes;

A memorial ceremony (optional) to honour Yara and Ahlf;

Dialogue scenes with Rana; and

Choose to give Rana her gift (based on earlier decisions).

This is the family portion of the chapter, so you'll not get any RO scenes this time. It mostly deals with the arrival of the Vinia family in Ishari, so if the family or Rana doesn't interest you, I suggest waiting for the next (and final) portion of Chapter 9's update.

patreon & other updates

hi guys :-) i am still alive and thinking about deux à deux, but i HAVE shifted from part-time to full-time bartending (my main job) and haven’t been working on the project for a good while. i have been Thinking about it, but haven’t been writing. just been too busy finishing up undergrad and work.

for that reason, the patreon is now unpublished. IF YOU WERE A PREVIOUS MEMBER AND LOST THE LINKS TO THE STUFF PLEASE DM ME AND I WILL SEND U THE LINKS!!!!!!

i ALSO wanted to remove the patreon after this month of thought because i will not be writing steadily enough to in good conscience accept any sort of payment. i also think when i do start writing for deux à deux again i want to spend more time on the main story and coding and less time on bonus content.

ok! all that said, my job is hard and very exhausting to be super honest. i don’t anticipate being able to write basically at all until after new year’s (i work at a hotel so holidays are busy asf for everyone). i will continue updating prob next when i AM able to start writing again.

Howdy!!

My outline puts us at around 13 chapters, though with the amount I shift things around we'll see if it remains that way! Could end up being slightly more, could end up being slightly less.

Writing has...had its ups and downs, in all honestly. I've mentioned it before but I've been dealing with some pretty severe writer's block; mostly out of dissatisfaction with the chapter, I think?

Not that I haven't been writing. I think I have close to 30k written for this chapter in total...but we'll see how much of that I can salvage. It's much less than I would have wanted to have at this point.

Sorry to be a bit of a downer 😭 The good news is, with my recent plot switch I've found a lot of motivation. On top of that, I've made it a personal goal to start writing every day again, with or without said motivation.

So far I'm 3 days in and have written over 1k each time! Idk if that sounds like a lot, but compared to this slump I've been in it has felt fantastic.

All that to say, thank you for your kind words! I really appreciate them.

Y'all make the community fun to engage with! I can't exactly work on the story when I'm at work, but I can answer an ask or two, and it always helps keep my brain rolling about tls!!

I'm very grateful for everyone who's been following the story--you're all amazing, and y'alls enthusiasm helps remind me that I love this story, too, even when it feels impossible <3

I have not been doing well lmao

I have an MRI coming up next month, the medication isn't alleviating the pain at all, and my insurance has decided that being in pain for three months straight without break isn't an issue, medically speaking.

Also, I might be severely depressed, because every doctor I have spoken to about my debilitating pain has taken a moment to ask me if I've considered scheduling an appointment with a psychiatrist. Like, my doctor called me while I was at work for an unofficial phone call to inform me that she was concerned about me.

I haven't forgotten about this account (I swear). Just been busy with midterm exams and being a mildly social ambivert. I plan on doing a tattoo dump (like over 50+ recolorable variations) sometime this weekend.

Expect: Anywhere from 50 to 75 conversions + my own custom tattoos(Im estimating since im not by my laptop at the moment). All will be recolorable on atleast one channel, with full body being 2 channels.

3 variations of face tattoos (About 30 total)-60% done

2 variations neck tattoos (About 15 total) - 90% done

2 leg/hip tattoos (About 10 to 12 total) - 100% done

2 full body tattoos (10 total) - 100% done

Hi all, this update only covers part of chapter 4. While I did have abt half of chapter 4 written, I was having a lot of coding issues and wanted to put out at least some kind of an update before Christmas.

It's about 10k words, give or take. Not much I know, I'd planned for it to be more, but again, coding got in the way. In this update, the you can:

Crown of Exile Mini-Update
