What would tmr boys reaction would be if their S/O got kidnapped instead of Minho
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- His s/o was not the type to throw themselves in danger
- however, when the berg showed on the horizon, they were one of the first people to put their hands on a rifle
- Thomas got there late, and there was no s/o in sight, so he figured they were safe
- until they sprang out of nowhere, trying to tackle Janson
- the nearby soldier knocked them out right away
- Thomas struggled against the two soldiers holding him down
- misplaced his shoulder in the process
- he yelled the name of his s/o so loudly he probably wouldn't be able to speak for a week
- a huge fight started, during it the kids, including his s/o were loaded in the berg and took off
- being reckless as he is, Thomas managed to keep Janson off board, beating the living hell out of him
- soldiers stopped him, but not before Ratman was half dead and bleeding
- Thomas didn't hide his tears
- was terrified Wicked would experiment on s/o, or kill, or God knows what else
- wouldn't stop thinking about how to save them
- would do anything to get them out alive
- would have dreams when he saves them and hugs and kisses them, wakes up with tears of happiness streaming down his cheecks only to realize it wasn't real and cry some more, but in fear and sadness
- after saving his s/o, Thomas is super overprotective of them
- like, every little thing, a paper cut or a bruise or a slightly different voice would make him run towards them, asking if they were okay
- eventually came back to normal
- but we all know he's soooooo caring and protective
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- the moment he saw his s/o in Wicked's arms, his world stopped
- however, he got out of his stupor quickly, trying to run for you, but the soldier kicked his bad leg, causing him to fall
- when he finally managed to stand up, s/o was already gone
- he kept yelling curses at them, kept hitting those injured soldiers who were left there to die
- it helped nothing and he knew that
- honestly, he could've murdered someone if not for Minho, who held him in a tight hug until he calmed down
- his anger turned to an agony
- he was crying hard, because he was in terrible pain, physically and emotionally
- he vowed to get s/o back safe and sound
- would be the first to find them, as if he felt where they were
- didn't let go of their hand until they reached the Safe Haven
- both didn't go out of the hut for a couple of days, talking, crying and promising their love to each other
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- when he barely escaped being captured by Wicked, he thought the victory was there
- little did he know they grabbed s/o instead
- s/o bravely fought the soldiers, but Minho couldn't see it
- and then his s/o stands on the berg, helplessness in their eyes as they take off
- and Minho just stands there, angry at Wicked, and furious with himself for being unable to help
- Newt and Thomas promise they'll find his s/o
- he became very grumpy after that, but also really really silent
- sometimes his bottled up feelings would unleash on everyone because of any little thing
- like a stupid question, or a fallen fork
- he wpuld be so eager to find his s/o he didn't even think when he stalked inside the Wicked headquarters fighting off every soldier like they were bugs
- he found s/o exhausted, hurt and bleeding
- but they were alive, that's all that mattered
- hugged them all the way back
- watched as the medics patched them up, controlling everything
- never leaving their side while rlthey recovered

Minho lost everything he'd been able to remember once he left the Glade, including you.
You were a smart thinker, which confused him as to why you stayed back with Gally and the other skeptics who didn't want to find escape in the maze. He tried so hard to convince you to come, but with such little time, he couldn't.
He'd spent months imprisoned mourning the loss of your presence. He didn't know how to function without you. He wondered where you were all the time, if you were even alive or not. He'd been wishing the best in your fate, in the scorch and back in the hands of WCKD. He missed your dorky smile and infectious laughter, hoping one day he could hear it again, even in the stars that he oh-so-missed gazing with you.
Your name scorched his heart every time it was spoken. Your face was engraved in his brain, to the point every time he thought of or imagined you, he'd fight back tears to stay strong. You were weaponized against him, being used to create false memories and episodes to help them find a cure.
Every time he'd wake up from a real dream where you were present, he'd end up in tears, to then have to cradle himself back to sleep. He'd been confined like this for months, then another few days before the bust. It was so, so much worse in the Last City, he'd rather have died in some horrific train crash then have missed his chance at freedom.
However, you survived. Gally did, too, though, even after Minho pierced his chest with a spear.
You'd joined some revolution gang together, learning to use guns and join the ranks. You'd been given bulletproof vests once you proved your worth, officially becoming part of the team.
Reuniting with Thomas, Fry, and Newt was a story in itself, but knowing, or at least hoping, that you'd see Minho again made your heart race in your chest. Gally took Thomas and Newt out to explore the perimeter of the city, letting you reconnect and catch up with Fry and get to know Brenda and her father figure Jorge.
Brenda grew fond of you quickly, liking your badassery and passion to overthrow WCKD. She knew you weren't into trying to kill innocents and understood that you wanted bullets in Janson's and Paige's heads, and you were willing to do it for free.
You showed her and Fry how to use the electro-guns, two you'd stolen from WCKD guards that defended the city walls. They're good for torture, but it was never your taste of tea, you left the others to do the sick shit. You wanted your friends back, you didn't even know they'd been free up til earlier today.
Once the trio came back, they set up a plan that you and Gally jumped in on to deflect and suggest ideas. It was set for tomorrow night, and you didn't know how to process it. You try not to think of Minho the rest of the night, which you awfully fail at, as you'd fallen asleep thinking of him.
You play out your role over and over again, overthinking every single detail down to the grade of gun you'd have strapped to your side. Gally, now your close friend after all this time together, could see your nervousness and anticipation.
"You okay?" He asks, leaning on the railing to your shared bunk bed. You slept on the bottom, him on the top.
You nod, arms sprawled over the top of your pillow, basically holding it like it was going anywhere. "I'm good. Nervous"
He nods, "It'll be alright, we're gonna get him back"
Tumblr media
You'd stolen WCKD gaurd suits, your first priority. You and Gally walk around the perimeter of the building post getting the kids on the bus. Your masks are up to avoid any real guards noticing that you're fakes. He holds his bulky gun across his chest, while yours is angled with the safety on across your back. A hand rests over the pistol on your side.
You can feel your heart pounding behind your ribcage, the anticipation of seeing Minho and taking down WCKD killing you. Gally pats your shoulder for reassurance and nods forward silently, wanting to pick up the pace.
You notice explosions in the distance, firey flames illuminating the sky.
As you walk under the main area, you notice a fire extinguisher land in the modern pool, splashing water into the air as it sinks to the bottom. You hear yells, then three bodies plop into the pool. You and three other guards behind you run to the scene, while you and Gally lag behind, knowing who just showed up.
Thomas, Newt, and Minho rise out of the water, floating over to the side after Thomas sends Janson, standing in the bay of the window, maybe twenty stories high, a middle finger. They wade over to the edge and pull themselves out, guards hold them at gunpoint, leaving their faces shaken and in despair.
Gally acts first, shoving one of the guards into the pool, then you pistol whip the one on your right, and you together knock out the last guy. The boys stare at you two, confused as to why two guards had apparently saved them, their questions are quickly answered as Gally rips his mask off.
"Hey"
"Oh, you bloody genius!"
"Oh, shit"
"What the hell?" Minho mutters.
Laying your eyes on him again, even though that mask, it brought you nearly to tears. Seeing his eyes, so tired, his body clearly so weak from the mental and physical stress, your heart broke for him. You make sure your handheld gun had the safety on before tucking it away properly.
"Long story" Gally replies to Minho, knowing what he was thinking.
Minho, still in genuine shock, adrenaline coursing through his veins, looks to you, wondering if you were maybe Brenda or Fry. You bite the inside of your cheek before pulling your mask off, softly smiling at Minho.
Newt and Thomas smile, Newt much more weak, as he was beginning to crank out.
"Y/n?" He questions in disbelief. "How- am I dreaming again?"
You quickly pound the boy into a hug, the moisture from his body rubbing off onto your red and grey outfit. The mask lays on the concrete, where Gally kicks it into the water, same with his.
You hear him begin to sob, holding onto you so tightly in fear you'd disappear like all the times before. You rub his back with your dominant hand, which trails up his spine toward his nape.
"I thought you were dead" He cries, "They've been using you in those simulations-"
"It's okay." You softly speak, "We have to go, you can tell me all about it later"
He nods, eyes still widened in shock and confusion as you follow the other three as they quickly flee the scene.
You take cover by some bushes, leaving Newt on the side to rip his jacket off as he sweats profusely. The veins in his neck were bulging out of his skin, colored a matte black.
You couldn't help but stare, unable to listen to the others talk. You quickly rush to his aid, wanting to help him be the most comfortable he possibly could be.
You crouch down next to him, giving him some reassuring words that he'd be okay. You help him to his feet, where Minho is at your side.
Gally and Thomas lead the way as another explosion rings through the air near you. You duck your head as some loose shrapnel lightly hits your skin, thankfully not enough force given to puncture your face.
The explosions only become worse as you run through a little diner, having no alternate route around as the city was being blown to smithereens.
"God damnit, we said blow up the entrance, not the whole damn city"
Newt falls to the ground, too weak to walk as black ooze drips from his lips. Glass explodes behind you, in which you quickly shove Minho to the ground in front of you to protect him. You cover your head, letting the glass shards hit your protected back.
He gasps for air for a moment as Thomas and Gally prop him up against a safe wall, trying to talk to him. You and Minho follow suit, making a quick plan to go get the temporary cure from Brenda and Jorge, and run back to give it to Newt.
"Stay strong for me, okay?" Minho speaks, his hands on the blonde's shoulders.
He nods, his eyes clearly lost in a daze, his vision blurry and wobbly.
Minho pats his shoulder before standing up, letting you give him a nod of reassurance. You and Gally follow Minho, weapons drawn to protect him as he leads with his quick sprinting skills.
You three get one last look at Newt and Thomas before fleeing, working your way through the maze of buildings and explosions to get to your friends. Gally shoots a guard at his side while you do the same at about a 10'o'clock radius.
"This way!"
You follow Minho, the explosions so loud that they defeaned gunshots. The battery on your stolen WCKD gun runs out, and you toss it to the side, resorting to using your pistol to defend your friends. Another bomb nearly knocks you off your feet, causing you to stumble into Minho.
"Sorry!" You shout over the noise.
"You okay?" He shouts back, helping you balance on your feet again.
"Yeah!" You quickly reply, nodding forward for him to continue running to get the cure.
You make it down to the Berg, where Fry, Brenda and Jorge await your arrival.
"The cure!"
Tumblr media
"We can't leave him here like this"
"We can't take him back-"
"We have to, please"
"It's too dangerous, we won't make it back to the Berg in time, or we'll get blown up carrying him!"
You stand at Minho's side, looking down at the blonde haired boy as he stands up. He wipes the tears from his eyes, looking at you.
"We have to leave him, Minho"
He nods, slowly placing the cure in Newt's cold hand. He takes one last look at him before turning away, waiting for anyone to speak and give orders.
Brenda speaks up again, deciding to get back to the Berg as fast as possible. You all follow her, guns out, ready to shoot whoever you had to at this point.
Minho turns to you as you run side by side, "Why are you here? Why are you putting yourself in the face of danger? To save me or something?"
You give him a little head tilt to act as a shrug, "You called"
"What?"
You shake your head, deciding to explain it once you were in the hands of safety. An explosion, which cause the ground to rumble beneath you, knocks you all off your feet and onto the hard concrete.
You all groan in pain, having fallen all over each other. Brenda had fallen onto Fry, and they both stumble to the side, apologizing to one another profusely. You'd fallen onto Minho, of course, and help him back to his feet.
You feel lightheaded, your face growing cold, odd for the amount of heat and fire and running around you'd been doing. You lean onto the boy, feeling woozy, as maybe you'd stood up to fast.
Then you fall to your knees, some invisible force knocking you down, your cargo pants ripping at the knees from the impact.
"Y/n!" You hear Minho shout, his voice echoey in your ears.
You hear three gunshots coming from each Fry, Gally, and Brenda. You look back, seeing a WCKD guard fall on their back after taking three shots to the head and chest. Minho's hands rest on your shoulder and on your cheek as he calls your name, asking if you're okay. You see his eyes glance down, where he quickly looks back up to not scare you.
You stand up, numb to any pain. He follows, making sure you're able to keep balance on your feet. He quickly rips off the bulletproof vest for you and your jacket, revealing the wound right under your collar bone.
You look down at it, then look back up at him, eyebrows furrowed. You look to the other three, eyes widened in shock and fear. Another explosion pops a few hundred yards away, shaking the ground again, though not enough to knock you all down once more.
Minho quickly shouts for anything he can use to keep pressure on the wound. He held his hand over it, as the bleeding was horrible at the moment. His hands are covered in your blood, considering the bullet that shot you went clear through you. You notice the bullet a few feet away, light flickering off of it as it rolls into the street where multiple bloody bodies lay.
Minho rips a piece of his shirt and stuffs it into the exit wound, ordering you to hold it there. He pulls you along as you continue running through the city. Your left arm rests over Minho's shoulders, not wanting to upset your other side. Considering moving, it would only agitate it more, and you were trying to keep pressure on the wound anyway.
As you reach the final yards to reach the Berg where Jorge and Vince wait, you collapse to your knees again, landing face first in the debris covered concrete. Minho falls with you, your weight having dragged him down. He tries to pull you up but notices the pool of blood forming around you. A thin, but large pool.
He calls your name over and over, then flips you on your back, where blood sputters out of your mouth. He quickly pulls you up, your back now held up by Brenda and Fry, who were quick to turn back. Gally crouches down on one knee and slowly removes the cloth from the wound, absolutely drenched in crimson.
"No, no, no, no. Not now! Y/n, get up, please," He pleads, watching Vince and Jorge rush to your aid. "They were shot by a gaurd, went clean through, there's so much blood-"
You reach your hand out to Minho as the men pick you up off the ground, where you stumble to walk with them. They practically carry you on their shoulders to the Berg.
Another explosion knocks you all to the ground again, leaving bruises on faces, arms, and legs as you're pounded onto the ground. You'd be lucky enough not to get AIDS at this point.
Minho stumbles to his feet, rushing to you as the men pick themselves up before you.
He notices blood spewing from the other side of your chest. He rips the extra layers of clothing off your torso, tossing your pistol to the side as well. Gally looks around, finger on the trigger of his gun, looking for a shooter.
"Stray bullet!" Brenda shouts, "Get them in there! Go! Thomas needs us!"
Minho places his hands under your arms and drags you into the Berg himself, all the children right in view of your slumped body. You choke on blood and air, feeling your face grow cold and pale. The liquid trails up into the aircraft, staining the hard metal red for the time being.
Vince jumps into the driver's seat, ordering the others to help you and how to before it's too late. Brenda stands next to him, trying to get any info out of Thomas through the walkies.
You wrap your arms around Minho, feeling the pain in your chest now as you grunt and cry. You squeeze onto the back of his shirt, the pain causing you to claw your fingers into him. He holds you, his heart breaking in two as you struggle to breathe.
The placement, it wasn't possible to keep you this time. It wasn't possible to keep you and be free in any situation, in any timeline, in any universe.
"I don't wanna say goodbye"
Tumblr media
He sits on the beach every morning, talking to the sunrise as if you were there next to him. He didn't mind the sand that would pile up in his boots or the dusty grain that would stick to his hydrophoric hands all damn day if it weren't for the water there to wash it away.
His fingers traced over your name on the rock when he felt lonely, like you were magically there, hugging him again.
He'd never know for sure what you meant when you said that he called. He understood that you definitely didn't hear him call for you after awakening after nightmares, but maybe you did, he wouldn't have known. He guessed in a metaphorical sense, he did call for you, which you both knew, but it still confused him somehow. He wanted you to explain it all so he'd understand, like how you always did.
He regretted never being able to rant about all his feelings to you. He wished he had time to tell you about all he went through so you could reassure him that you'd protect him forever. You'd protect him from the nightmares and the scars, the mental baggage that would weigh him down forever.
He started crying himself to sleep after he began to forget your face.
He just wanted another hug, but your face was beginning to blur out. It sent him into a panic attack right there. No one was there to help him as he cried and clawed into the dirt, trying to ground himself again. He couldn't believe himself, he treasured you so much yet he was forgetting your face after merely a year after your dissapearance?
It didn't help that after a while, he began to forget your voice too, that hurt even more. He'd been forced to talk about his feelings to Thomas like a parent-child conference. He wasn't himself anymore.
His eyes were always swollen, eyebags dark and weighing his happiness down. He was depressed. Every smile he showed was just him trying to make his way through another day's work, distracting himself from the fact that he lost you, for good this time, he watched it.
He wrote letters to you with no address to send to. It didn't help whatsoever that he himself pushed you out into the sea once Thomas regained consciousness so he could say farewell. He watched it all, he knew you were gone this time. At least he had some sense of closure.
He had nothing left of you other than that WCKD jacket you wore, that haunted him as he slept. He only kept it because even with the logo of the corporation that tortured him for years and past the bullet holes in it, it provided him a little comfort that you were still there.
He found that telling stories of you to the younger kids helped.
"They were like the life of the party, bright smile, infectious laughter. They were the one everyone wanted to be around. You could see the sunrise in their eyes."
"Who were they to you?" One little girl asks.
"I don't really know" Minho shrugs, looking down at his hands for a moment.
"Where are they now?" A little boy asks, tilting his head.
"They're in the sky, they have been. They're stuck there. I hope I see them again" He replies with a little nod, looking up at the sun beginning to set up on the island.
"Why are they stuck in the sky?"
"They're afraid of coming down"

song 72! you belong with me (taylor swift) + newt requested by @misty-inferno (2023 spotify wrapped event)
dreaming ‘bout the day when you wake up and find that what you’re looking for has been here the whole time
Tumblr media
If anyone were to ask where either you or Newt were, the other gladers would say to look for the other. They’d probably end up finding the two of you together.
At least, that was the case before Thomas came into the picture.
Today found you sitting on a bench near the kitchen, where Frypan had kicked you out. Apparently your sour mood was spoiling the food. You glowered when you looked in the distance and saw Newt walking the newbie around.
“Whoa, why are you trying to commit a felony?”
Your eyes flitted up to where Minho was hovering over you. Still scowling, you said, “What felony?”
“Attempted murder. Using your face.”
“Man, fuck you!” you exclaimed, smacking him on the arm.
“Hey! I didn’t mean it like that! I meant like, the whole ‘if looks could kill’ thing,” he defended himself, rubbing his arm.
“Well either way, I’m not trying to murder anyone, you slinthead.”
Minho shrugged. “Tell that to Thomas. He’s been asking since last night why you keep glaring at him.”
“I’m not glaring at him,” you scoffed, “I’m observing. Analysing.”
“Right, right,” he muttered, rolling his eyes. “You sure you’re not just pissy he’s hanging out with Newt?”
“Well,” you huffed, “he already got the tour from Chuck, what more does he need to know?”
Minho finally joined you on the bench, and nudged you with his elbow. You massaged the sore spot on your ribs.
“You should tell him how you feel, you know.”
“I’ve tried, Minho.”
He looked very unimpressed. “How? Telepathic signals?”
“I- well, you know,” you spluttered, “I wrote a note that said ‘I love you’ and left it in his hammock? But then it fell out and he didn’t see it.”
“My condolences,” Minho drawled.
You stuck your tongue out at him and he rolled his eyes. Minho was right, to some extent, you thought. But you didn’t want to confess to him, not with everything he’d been through, and with this horrible situation you’d been thrust in.
Newt was the best, most deserving person you’d ever met, and you knew you couldn’t force him into anything. Also, you were a bit of a coward. But that wasn’t the important part. You wanted him to realise by himself that you loved him and decide what he wanted.
And if what he wanted was Thomas, so be it.
“It’s not that simple,” you said to Minho. “Nothing is ever simple in The Glade. If I have to keep pining after him until he realises I love him or decides he loves me, then I will.”
Minho’s lips pursed and his gaze softened. “Okay, fine.”
Then he looked forwards and his eyes zeroed in on something. “Heads up, though, they’re coming this way.”
You looked up instantly and found Newt and Thomas heading your way. Newt raised his hand in a wave and Thomas gave what was probably supposed to be a smile but ended up being more like a grimace. Wow, he really did think you hated him.
“Hey Y/N, Minho,” Newt said, but his gaze was fixed on you. “Could I talk to Y/N for a second?”
“Fine,” scoffed Minho, “get rid of me. Come on, greenie, let’s go raid the kitchen.”
He threw an arm around Thomas and guided him away, and Newt took his spot on the bench while your heartbeat and body temperature rose alarmingly.
“Hi,” you managed to squeak out, “what’s up?”
“Well,” he cleared his throat, “I found this on top of your things when I tried to look for you this morning.”
He started to rummage around in his pants pocket. “And then Thomas told me he saw the same piece of paper lying on the ground under my hammock last night.”
Dread filled every crevice of your body as Newt pulled out a folded piece of paper and unfolded it to reveal the words ‘I love you.’
“That’s… quite a coincidence,” you muttered.
Newt’s face twisted in a smile. “Yeah, I thought so too.”
Your face was unimaginably red when he started digging around in his other pocket and then turned to look at you.
“But what’s an even bigger coincidence, is this.”
He handed you a second piece of paper, folded only in half. Your heart lurched as you peeled it open. ‘I love you,’ it said, in a perfect imitation of Newt’s handwriting.
“What?”
He laughed at your dumbstruck expression and took the paper from your hands, then took your hands in his, forcing you to look at him. “I was going to give it to you tonight.”
“You love me?” you asked, still dumbstruck.
“I do, yeah.”
Your stomach did flips as you grinned at him. “Can I kiss you?”
Newt turned a little pink, and you flushed with pride at being able to embarrass him, then he nodded.
Nobody was surprised when you both showed up hand in hand to dinner that night, nor when you kissed afterwards. And nobody, not even Thomas, was surprised when Newt climbed his way into your hammock instead of his.
Because that was where he belonged. With you.

WHY NEWT MAZE RUNNER IS AUTISTIC.
as a diagnosed autistic i am QUALIFIED to make this judgment. amen.
1. OBSESSED WITH ORDER
“Order,” Newt continued. “Order. You say that bloody word over and over in your shuck head. Reason we’re all sane around here is ’cause we work our butts off and maintain order. Order’s the reason we put Ben out—can’t very well have loonies runnin’ around tryin’ to kill people, now can we? Order. Last thing we need is you screwin’ that up.”
-pg 59, the maze runner
Newt’s head appeared at the little glassless window, looking through the bars, a smirk on his face. “Nice reward for breakin’ the rules. You saved some lives, Tommy, but ya still need to learn—”
“Yeah, I know. Order.”
-pg 109, the maze runner
“Maybe,” Newt responded. “Hope so. Anyway, I was thinking we need to get organized, get things back together. Act like we did in the bloody Glade. Last few days have been miserable, everybody moaning and groaning, no structure, no plan. It’s driving me psycho.”
-pg 45, the scorch trials
2. HATES LOUD NOISE
“We need to find another room, have a Gathering. All this noise is driving nails through my buggin’ skull.”
-pg 13, the scorch trials
3. MISSES SOCIAL CUES
“Too bad I can’t remember my whole life. Maybe I love killing animals.” He was just joking, but Newt didn’t seem to get it.
-pg 46, the maze runner
4. PATTERN RECOGNITION
“What—” Minho began.
“Just bloody keep cutting,” Newt ordered. “I think I know where he’s going with this.” Thomas was relieved someone was finally getting it.
-page 153, the maze runner
there’s probably more evidence than this #Idk i just wanted to share 😏😏

kiss me hard before you go
pairing: crank!newt x gn!reader
tw: kissing, use of y/n, mentions of death
note: title is a reference to lana del rey's iconic summertime sadness. this is kinda short, sorry.
you knew he didn't have much time. he knew it, too. but he wasn't scared - not of dying at least.
for a while, you were blisfully unaware of the fact that he had the flare. sure, he yelled at anyone who was too close to him, refused to let anyone see the injury he got when you were driving to the last city, snapped at everyone - yeah, now that you put it like that, it might've been pretty obvious, but you didn't pick up on it at the time. you found out when thomas accidentaly slipped up.
"tommy, what do you mean 'he doesn't have much time'??" you questioned.
he backed away slightly, hands shoved in his pockets. "i said we. we don't have much time," he insisted.
"thomas, i know what i heard, don't lie to me, for fuck's sake," you snapped. "you can't just say that and tell me that i misheard you!"
"i, um- well," he stuttered, taking a few steps back. he waved his arms around, gesturing. "i have to go.. um, talk to him? see ya!! and sorry, really. g'night!"
you watched him turn around, and leave the room, the door shutting behind his back. without much of a choice, you talked to newt that night. if thomas wasn't going to tell you, he definitely was, you hoped.
and he did.
"when were you going to tell me?" you asked, tears brimming in your eyes. he chewed on his lip in contemplation, unsure if he really wanted to asnwer - let's be real, he didn't.
he did, anyways.
"i didn't want to tell you," he confessed. "the plan was to tell you that i died during the mission. shot. burnt alive. something, anything."
"the same mission you're going on.. tomorrow?"
"yes," he confirmed. he fiddled with his thumbs and looked away, unable to look you in the eye. "i'm sorry."
you swallowed, harshly.
"i didn't want you to worry," he continued, "i'm sorry. so, so sorry. you weren't supposed to find out."
"do the others know?" you saw him stiffen. "do they?" you repeated. "newt?"
"i'm sorry" was all he said. slowly, the tears in your eyes slowly slipped down your cheeks. newt's calloused fingers quickly wiped them and he hugged you as an attempt to comfort you - it only made you cry harder.
"it's not fair," you sobbed.
he pressed a kiss to your temple and rocked you back and forth gently. "i know, love. i know."
"how are you so calm about this?"
"death doesn't scare me," he explained, sounding much too casual to be talking about this. "i'd much rather die than turn crazy. i don't want to lose my mind and try to kill my friends. i can't have that. that's the only thing that scares me about the flare - becoming someone who i'm not. i don't want that, even if the only solution is death."
"or a cure. we can always find you a cure, you know?" you said, trying to remain optimistic. there was no cure, though - you both knew that. but you just had to hope, right? maybe, just maybe, there was one.
"of course," he agreed, though unconvincingly. lifting your head up, you kissed him. one last kiss before he had to leave for the mission to save minho. one last kiss before he was gone. with your lips connected, you could both taste the salty tears - both yours and newt's.
he pulled away.
"i love you. remember that, okay? i love you, and i always will."
"i love you, too."

Goodbye, Newtie.
Tumblr media
This is my AU so don't come for me: You die instead of newt, so same timeline.
Summary: Newt and y/n have a deep conversation after she was stung, but newt doesn't know that until she's already gone. Newt finds the letter she wrote him.
Era: TDC
Warnings; death, sadness, crying, blood, fighting, angst (let me know if I've missed any)
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
"Hey." Newt said, sitting next to y/n. She was on the roof for a good hour before newt came up, just thinking. She turned to look at him, a slight smile on her face, before looking back at the desert. "You okay?" He asked. She rested her head on his shoulder, sighing deeply.
".. I'm fine.. thanks newtie." She said, fiddling with the buttons on her sleeve.
Newt and y/n loved each other. So much. More than you could ever imagine. But, they didn't know that. They just thought they where inseperable friends. "Yknow.. I can't believe I'm saying this.. I miss the glade." She said, looking up at newt, who was staring into nothing. He sighed, running a hand through her long hair.
"The bonfires.. the celebrations when the box came up with a new greenie.. the fights in the circle with Gally. The feeling of being.. apart of something was always there.. yknow?" She explained, newt nodding in agreement. The glade was such a fun place, if you where to ignore the walls of the W.C.K.D maze. It was a place where everyone was relatively the same in terms of past, and who they where. But it was also how different people where. Some indulged in fighting.. some indulged in leading.. and some indulged in helping out or building. If someone asked her if she'd go back to the glade, she'd say yes in a heartbeat. Newt shifted a little, remembering his first day in the glade.
"My first day was bloody awful." He started, wiping away stray hairs from her face. "I was petrified. Being shoved around. One day I snuck into the maze.. climbed the tallest wall I could find and.. jumped." He said, tracing patterns into her back. She cupped his cheek, using her thumb to trace the cheekbones in his face. ".. gally told me about that.."
"Mine wasn't so good either. There where just boys.. no girls I could relate to. It was so hard to find a place there.. and then I became third commander with you.. and I was alright. I found peace in your presence.. yknow" the winds lightly blew through their hair, the following silence almost comforting. It remained like that for a while, before they both snuggled up to each other, just taking in the vast expense of the desert.
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
"Hold on a little longer for me, okay? Brenda should be here in a minute just... please stay with me, alright?.." Newt said, holding her up against the railing of the road. She was slipping away. The once E/C eyes where now ringed with a red gleam, her eyes glossy, veins popping with a blue-ish black colour. She was fighting, and she was fighting hard. Thomas came over, holding her up too. He didn't say anything, he could feel the sadness and anger radiating off of newt.
'Why didn't she tell me? Why didn't she say anything? Why did she play it off so cool? Why did she hide it away?' Newt thought. He guessed that it was because she didn't want him to worry. Because she knew for sure he'd take his life for her, and she didn't want that.
"Please newt.. please..'' she rasped out. Newt shook his head. He can't do it. He won't do it. He's not going to give up on her. "No Y/n, I can't, I bloody can't!" He shouted. Tommy released his grip, running off to find Brenda and Minho so they could hurry with the cure.
She was thrashing. She wasn't herself anymore. She wasn't the kind, polite girl anymore. She was a crank. And there was no going back. Newt stared, pushing her away every time she went for him. He sobbed, watching his love slip away. He didn't get the chance to tell her how much he loved her. "KILL ME! KILL ME NEWT!" She yelled. But it wasn't her voice. She lunged at him, knocking them both to the ground. She pulled the gun out of her holster, aiming it at her head. "NO!!" newt yelled, smacking it away onto the floor. He pushed her off, and she lunged again, a knife to his chest. There was a scuffle.. and she coughed. A mixture of blood and the black liquid that was leaking out of her mouth.
She fell, her back hitting the cold pavement. She was gone. And there was nothing he could possibly do. Newt collapsed to his knees, scooping her up. "Maybe.. maybe we can cure her.. maybe- maybe it'll be like gally, she's.. she's immune, surely.. please- please!" He said, looking in her eyes for any signs of life. There where none. Gally, minho, Brenda and Thomas got there.. stopping in their tracks. Minho just stared, in shock. Thomas teared up, and he stepped forward, hooking his arms under newt to pull him away. "NO! NO! LEAVE ME, LEAVE ME!! LET ME BE WITH HER!" He screamed. If the cranks weren't coming before, they deffinatley where now.
She just layed there, her hair strewn over the pavement.
She was gone, out of newts grasp. Forever.
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
"Newt?" Tommy said, walking into his room. Newt had kept himself in there, not coming out since her death, a week ago.
"What," he said, quite coldly. Thomas sat at the end of the bed, sighing. "You need to come out eventually, newt. You can't stay in here forever." There was a pause, and newt shifted, now facing Tommy. "I understand you lost your best friend.. we all did. But locking yourself in here doesn't make it any better, yeah?" He said, placing a comforting hand on newts shoulder. "And here. She wanted you to have this." He passed newt an envelope, and newt threw his head back, his eyes welling with tears. "I'll be outside if you need me," Tommy said, leaving. Now it was just newt and the letter.
He peeled the wax seal off, taking the letter out. He braced himself, took a deep breath, and started reading.
'Dear newt.
I can't remember if I wrote any letters before the maze, but even if I did, it'll probably be my last. I just wanted to say, I loved you. More than anything. The day I got into that glade, i knew you where going to be a good leader. We all did. I miss the smell of Frypans soup and the fights in gallys circle. But the one ill miss the most out of all of them is you. I know you've probably locked yourself in a room and haven't eaten, but trust me, I'm not worth the bother. Please eat, please sleep, and please just talk to someone. Talk to Tommy. For my sake. We never got to tell eachother how much we love eachother, but I know that I loved you and you loved me. So rest easy, I know you love me. Thank you for being my mate, my best mate and my first love.
Ill miss you always.
Goodbye newt.'
He closed up the letter, and just let the tears fall. He'd never experienced something so gut wrenchingly sad, apart from when he tried to end it in his first week in the maze. He's glad he didn't. He's glad his life didn't end that day. Be would've never experienced the love and caring of Y/N. He can now rest easily knowing she loved him.
He grabbed a vile from his drawer, slipping it into there. He got a lose shoelace, tying it to make a necklace. He stood up, wiping his tears. He clutched it tight, bringing it to his lips, the tears threatening to fall again.
"I'll miss you too."
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
AN: made me cry writing this :) I'm sorry that this shit was so sad, I just wanted to make an angst one! I do do requests, so if you have any, leave them in the comments. I do allsorts, including Smut. I don't do abuse, 🍇, or non consensual things. Anyway, thank you for reading :)

✎ find a way - minho
[minho (tmr) x fem!reader]
synopsis - y/n runs into the maze after minho
warning! swearing outside of glader slang, mentions of death
is the tmr fandom still alive?? these movies were my whole childhood and i just rewatched the first one and needed to writeee
Tumblr media
Something was wrong.
"Are they not here yet?" The entire glade was standing by the door waiting for Minho and Alby to arrive. They were never this late before, and it was almost sun down. The doors would be closing soon.
"Are they going to make it?" The greenie, Thomas, asked.
"They're gonna make it." Newt said.
"What if they don't?"
"They're gonna make it."
The sun was dipping lower below the walls with every agonizing minute. Your leg bounced anxiously, checking every shadow down the corridor for signs of Minho. The worst thoughts started to fill your head. What if you really lost you best friend? What if the person that means the most to you is lying on the concrete of this god-forsaken maze fighting for his life?
Newt's reassuring hand on your shoulder did very little to reassure you.
Another minute passed and the gladers were started to lose hope. They we're getting restless, some were already leaving. You knew, you just knew he was still alive in there. Your Minho was a fighter, fighter until the last second.
"There!" Someone pointed. Everyone held their breath, searching the shadows. Minho emerged, dragging himself along with every last ounce of willpower. Everyone erupted into cheers of encouragement, but you knew something was up.
"Is that Alby?"
He was slung, limp, over Minho's shoulder. They weren't gonna make it.
The ground started to shake, the aching rumble of the stone sounded as the doors inched closer.
"No!" you cried, as if your screams would reverse the doors. "Minho, you can do it!" You saw the pained expression cross his face at your voice, he knew he wasn't going to make it.
The doors were on the verge of closing as you took a step forward. This door was the barrier between your life and your death and you were right on the edge, deciding your fate.
Your time was running out as your heart acted faster than your head. The boys screamed after you as you pulled away from the gladers, ripping away from your life and throwing yourself into inevitable death as you ran through the narrow opening towards darkness. Towards your fate. Towards Minho.
You barely made it, collapsing on the floor as the doors shut behind you. "Congratulations, you just killed yourself."
"What?"
"What the fuck is wrong with you, Y/n?" Minho looked up at you with an unreadable expression. You stood up and dusted off your pants before taking in your surroundings. It just clicked how utterly stupid you are. You ran into a dark maze you've never even stepped foot in before, not to mention no one has ever spent a night in the maze and lived to tell the story. You must have been batshit crazy to run after Minho, that, or crazy in love.
"Minho, what do we do?" You asked, running your hand over some ivy that decorated the wall. It felt oddly.. fake.
"Nothing." He replied, letting his head fall.
"Are you serious?" You asked. You waited for him to give any sign that he was just joking, and that he had a plan.
"You did this to yourself, Y/n." He wasn't.
"I ran after you, Minho."
"No one asked you to do that." His voice was raising, yet he stayed calm and unwavering.
"You can't just give up, Minho!"
"Then what am I supposed to do, Y/n?" He looked up at you with tears in his eyes, his voice getting shakey. "I don't know what to do, Y/n. I'm scared. I'm scared, and lost, with no plan and no chance of surviving." He bowed his head again. "You ran after me and now were both here, both dead. You're dead because of me."
Your breath slowed as you approached him. "Living won't be living without you. We're not dead, and I will do everything in my power to get us through the night and out of the maze." You kneeled beside him and drew in a deep breath. "I ran after you because I love you, Minho. You being in here alone sounded like a nightmare, and I couldn't-" he cut you off by taking your face in his hands and pressing his lips to yours.
You felt the pressure of three years in the glade, three years by Minho's side every day and three years of liking him wash away in one kiss. "We'll have plenty more time to do that once we get out of here." Minho said, standing up and offering his hand.

rating the changes between tmr book and movie
anyone who read the books first knows that the movie trilogy ended up telling a completely different story. i've been a big fan of the books forever so i thought i'd rate the significant changes made in the first one since it's generally the same plot. scale is 0-5 with 5 being good change.
the gladers initially not remembering their names: 3/5. maybe it was done to raise the stakes and make it more disorienting.
there are no real buildings in the glade: 1/5. this implies they had to start completely from scratch when they first arrived, which makes the maze seem like a test of survival rather than willpower and psychology.
leading on from that... the maze is actually outdoors: 0/5. you're telling me they had rain and lots of greenery in an outdoor structure in a desert climate? and the gladers had no real shelter provided? it also makes the test of their determination less powerful, because in the books, the maze was an indoor structure. the fact that they could technically climb the walls and see the outside world in the movies removes some of hopelessness and frustration for me.
ben is a runner: 4/5. makes sense! especially since we never learned how he got stung as a builder in the books.
the gladers are allowed to have a bit of fun: 5/5. i love the bonfire scene. i think it's a realistic change that a bunch of teenage boys would want to let loose every now and then.
they were there 3 years instead of 2: 4/5. i mean, sure.
no one has ever seen a griever before and survived: 0/5. makes no sense at all because the gladers are aware of the changing as a process! if no one has ever survived encountering a griever, where did they get this precedent from? how did they recognise that ben was stung? perhaps this info was just newt being dramatic since it comes from his dialogue.
they don't have grief serum until teresa arrives: 1/5. again, doesn't make sense. the changing being a process they're familiar with which brings back memories after they get the serum is entirely destroyed in the movie. this is the catalyst for a lot of the events in the book and it loses all its function.
several of the characters are different in personality: varies. thomas is more typically 'cool' in the movie and less curious and, to put it bluntly, less annoying. i don't like this change much, his constant curiosity and eagerness to learn and discover was a huge part of who he was in the books (if you know mbti, all i have to say is he was an INTP in the books and an ISTP in the movies). then we have minho, who was way less brash, hot headed, and reckless in the movies (he was also made into an ISTP while he was an ESTP in the books). i think alby is a bit different. i like both portrayals of alby, but i think he seemed nicer and more chill in the movie, probably just because the actor was very charismatic. this works because he can easily be charismatic as a leader. but him also being a stressed out kid with too much responsibility in the books, leading to him lashing out more and being less calm and collected, makes sense! gally is a bit nicer, actually rational at times, in the movie. he's also not, like, pathetic and embarrassingly petty. these are all traits in the book which emphasise the fact that he's a scared kid, so this also isn't my favorite change ever.
thomas gets memories back in his dreams: 1/5. unnecessary and completely removes the high stakes of him having no recollection of his involvement with WICKED.
minho doesn't find a dead griever: 3/5. at least they still accounted for why alby had to go into the maze. i still wish they did it.
alby was alone in the glade for a whole month: 1/5. it is not logical that someone would be able to run a whole farm and build shelter all alone at 15 years old without any help. it also doesn't make sense that he wouldn't have gotten killed in the maze on accident.
teresa doesn't come up one day after thomas: 2/5. i guess it doesn't really matter, but this is just one element of the timeline being quite different that wasn't necessary to change.
minho helps thomas save alby in the maze: 0/5. this is thomas's first big act of heroism and the thing that makes minho respect him. they should've kept thomas doing it alone.
the grievers are completely different: 2/5. i understand that this is probably a design issue for the movie, but the book concept of the grievers is better.
the maze is completely different: 1/5. i don't like the movie maze... why is it a circle. the idea of the 8 square sections that are repeating and consistent makes the maze so much more frustrating and bewildering! also that part in the movie where the walls start to fall and the floors come up... why. there's also no code hidden in the walls, which was a very cool element.
no cliff/griever hole: 2/5. not terrible because this would be hard to show on screen. but the fact that instead, in the movie, there is just a visible section that the runners never found before is a bit unrealistic.
gally never went through the changing: 0/5. gally's hatred for thomas in the movie is baseless, while in the book it's clearly about suspicion and fear. he's an understandable antagonist in the book.
thomas and teresa don't have telepathy: 3/5. would've been hard to portray on screen. takes away from the depth of their connection, however.
the gladers give up too easily: 0/5. this one bothers me! when all the other runners in the movie randomly quit their jobs. the whole point in the books is that they'd never do that.
thomas is looked to as a leader: 0/5. when he starts giving orders in the movie and leads the charge into the maze.... ughhh. again i think they tried to make him a more cool and admirable protagonist, but i think a big part of the books is that thomas never saw himself as particularly special, or a leader. he couldn't have done anything he did without minho's, newt's, alby's, teresa's etc skill, authority, support. they were a team and a family. instead, in the movie, they start to follow him without question when he was barely there five days.
the grievers don't only kill 1 glader per night: 2/5. adds tension but also takes away from the fact that the maze again wasn't a test of survival.
alby's and chuck's deaths were essentially swapped: 0/5. i really dislike this change. they took away the fact that alby's fear changed him, and that his last act was both selfless and scared. in the movie he just died on accident. then i think chuck actually chose to sacrifice himself in the movie, when in the books he was forced to as a variable by WICKED. this absolutely takes away from the utter pointlessness of chuck's death, and it's also ooc for a scared 12 year old to choose to die when he so badly wanted to escape.
thomas had no real reason to sting himself: 0/5. he already had memories coming back in dreams and they already believed they had found an escape in the maze. he literally had no reason to go through the changing in the movie and it's a bit overdramatic for no reason.
people take gally seriously as a leader: 2/5. this only happened because alby got killed off early in the movie.
this is one of my least favorite changes so i saved it for last. nalby erasure: 0/5. the movies definitely take away that alby was newt's best friend and the person he cared for and protected most. likewise, in the books, thomas's favorite and most prioritised glader (along with teresa) was actually always minho. although thominho wasn't erased as much in the movies, the fact that those two pairings were the strongest bonds we ever got between the boys in the books isn't really there in the movies. i think the movies allowed people to forget that newt being canonly gay actually means alby is his most likely love interest!

tmr angst headcanons!!
0k yall, the promised angst head canons have arrived and if you wish to check my sweet ones they are here
Gally:
oh gally.. poor gally and his absolute guilt and fear of losing himself again and killing another..
after he killed chuck for MONTHS he was terrified he would somehow lose himself again and kill someone else, he literally refused to even have physical contact unless absolutely necessary for so long, once he slowly got over his fear he never really got back to normal, hugs are EXTREMELY rare from him, even rarer then before.
gally refused to let himself grieve over chuck and the deaths of the Gladers that stayed behind until he literally couldn't because he believed for a long time he believed he didn't have the right to.
He refused to talk about them too, like if someone just asked about the maze or about what happened he would refuse to answer them
one day frypan brought up something about one of Gally's old friends on accident and he just started BALLING, it wasn't loud or anything just silent tears as he started insisting he didn't mean to hurt anyone, after talking it out with frypan a bunch and a few more times after he felt a bit less guilt.
After a long time he carved his old friends names onto the stone with the help of frypan, and him overall just being supportive and cheering him on :)
(As you can tell Gally and frypan being friends is like my fav thing ever)
Minho:
after Minho was rescued he couldn't tell what was real and what wasn't, sometimes he would insist that the safe haven wasn't real and that people were trying to hurt him or that wicked was going to come back and kill him
i also wouldn't be surprised if he developed some form of hallucinations along side it, long making him spiral further. slowly though they became less frequent and intense and he learnt to ground himself, occasionally he just squeezes his friends knees or shoulders to remind himself they are actually there or asks them "this is real right?"
Minho ended up with permanent insomnia and night terrors though, for the first month or two in the safe haven he would wake up kicking and screaming but soon it just turned into silent sleep paralysis.
he never gained all his muscle and stamina back, DONT GET ME WRONG HE IS STILL EXTREMELY FAST AND STRONG but not the level he was before. (slightly chubby Minho post death cure will forever be one of my fav head canons omfg)
He and Newt talk about hallucinations and not being able to tell what’s real and find a massive comfort in each other because no one else actually knows what it’s like. (Don’t get me wrong so many people in the safe haven have trust issues but it’s not the same yk?)
Newt:
Before I even get into the mental impacts of just EVERYTHING I’m just gonna mention the fact of how WEAK he would’ve been afterwards, the flare would’ve done numbers on his body that the cure couldn’t have fixed. He was probably weak for awhile (like a month or two) and his limp was significantly worse and he used a cane (after he got better he kept it because it just made everything significantly easier)
Also I feel like even thought he got the cure he still struggles with hallucinations and paranoia, mainly about him getting the flare again or the cure somehow not working
When he gets sick (like a cold) he’s SUPER on edge because it just reminds him of the early hours/days of the flare, especially if he gets phlegm in his throat or something. Thomas and Minho have caught him mumbling to himself saying "you don't have the flare you don't have the flare-"
he doesn't talk about when he had the flare to many people, maybe Thomas and Minho a few times but he wont go into detail.
Thomas:
the TRUST ISSUES. OMG. during the scorch trails he only trusted Newt, Minho and Brenda indefinitely, he trusts Jorge and everyone else to an extent but he occasionally has his doubts.
he's entirely desensitized to blood and gore, along with Minho and Newt. his pain tolerance is extremely high and if he gets hurt he never realizes to extent, like he could sprain his ankle or something and say "i just need to walk it off" as it turns purple and black
he got VERY protective of himself and the few people he does trust, especially Newt and Minho. anyone he doesn't know he has a fear that they are always lying and that everything they say is bullshit. basically a massive "trust no one (except like 3 people)" mentality.
even though he isn't a leader anymore he still feels the need to keep up this facade of being strong and fearless, even though there is no danger anymore.
he's super jumpy, always on guard and ready. constant state of fight or flight, anyone who's sitting around him he constantly as an eye on. sometimes even Newt or Minho on a bad day, for weeks post death cure if you touched him without warning he flinch and if he didn't he adrenaline would go through the roof until he realized "oh its just ____"

I asked chat gpt how movie version boys from tmr would react to meeting book version of themselves :D
This is what came out:
Thomas
Movie Thomas: Confident but still a bit reserved, Dylan O’Brien’s Thomas would initially approach Book Thomas with cautious curiosity. “So… you’re me, huh? I don’t think I look that bad.”
Book Thomas: Much more prone to self-doubt and overthinking, he’d probably size up Movie Thomas and mutter, “You’re awfully sure of yourself. Didn’t you almost get everyone killed, like… multiple times?”
Dynamic: They’d bond over their shared sense of guilt and leadership struggles, but Book Thomas might accuse Movie Thomas of being “too Hollywood.” Meanwhile, Movie Thomas would roll his eyes, joking that Book Thomas needs to lighten up.
Newt
Movie Newt: With a softer, more compassionate demeanor, Movie Newt (Thomas Brodie-Sangster) would greet his book counterpart warmly, offering a handshake. “Bloody hell, mate, didn’t think I’d be seeing myself today.”
Book Newt: A bit gruffer and more haunted, he’d smirk and say, “Well, you’ve got the charm, I’ll give you that. But don’t you think you’re a bit too polished?”
Dynamic: They’d likely find common ground quickly, both sharing their loyalty to the Gladers and their frustration with Thomas. However, Book Newt might tease Movie Newt for being too clean-cut and “soft.”
Minho
Movie Minho: Ki Hong Lee’s Minho would swagger up to his book counterpart, grin, and immediately challenge him to a race. “So, you’re me? Bet you can’t outrun this.”
Book Minho: Not one to back down, Book Minho would cross his arms and smirk. “I don’t need to prove anything. But you look like you need to prove everything.”
Dynamic: The two would have a competitive streak, constantly trying to outdo one another. They’d also bond over their shared no-nonsense attitudes and mutual annoyance with Thomas’s hero complex.
Gally
Movie Gally: Will Poulter’s Gally, more nuanced and misunderstood in the films, would approach his book counterpart with a wary glare. “So, I guess you’re the angry version of me?”
Book Gally: Full of fire and resentment, Book Gally would sneer. “And you’re the one who got a redemption arc. Lucky you.”
Dynamic: There’d be tension at first, but Movie Gally might soften Book Gally’s edges by explaining his motivations and eventual growth. Book Gally, however, might accuse Movie Gally of being too sympathetic and not enough of a realist.
Frypan
Movie Frypan: The jovial and slightly quirky Frypan from the films would immediately try to bond with his book counterpart. “Man, I bet you make a mean stew too, huh?”
Book Frypan: A bit more serious, Book Frypan would nod and say, “Yeah, but I don’t need to crack a joke every time I open my mouth.”
Dynamic: They’d connect over their shared love of cooking and loyalty to the Gladers, but Book Frypan might roll his eyes at Movie Frypan’s more lighthearted approach to danger.
Alby
Movie Alby: A natural leader with a calm yet commanding presence, Movie Alby would likely greet his book version with a firm handshake. “Nice to meet you, man. How’d you keep everyone alive?”
Book Alby: More volatile and blunt, Book Alby would shrug. “Barely. And with a lot less talking than you.”
Dynamic: They’d respect each other’s leadership styles, though Book Alby might see Movie Alby as overly dramatic. Movie Alby, in turn, might find Book Alby too harsh.
Chuck
Movie Chuck: The lovable and innocent Movie Chuck would be excited to meet his book counterpart. “Whoa, you’re me! Do you think they’d let us keep a pet pig here?”
Book Chuck: Slightly more grounded but just as endearing, Book Chuck would laugh and say, “Maybe if we don’t die first.”
Dynamic: The two Chucks would instantly become friends, sharing jokes and dreams about life outside the Glade. They’d also both tease Thomas mercilessly.
I know it may not be totally right but I still think it’s funny 🫶

The stars - Newt
Warnings: none, just pure fluff (Newt survived and made it to the safe haven #jamesdashnercountyourdays)
Author note: Most of what I write is to put my ideas down into words, i just don't have the creative capacity to write my own book, so I have to use characters invented by somebody else. If anyone sees this, you're more than welcome to request, I'll try my best.
Summary: You realise why the lack of stars in the glade was so significant to you, and why, even if you had no recollection of the fact, you always compared them to him <3
The day you came up in the box was one of the most terrifying things you had ever experienced. Actually, it was the only terrifying thing you remembered experiencing, but that's not the point. When the doors opened, you did what any scared little girl would do, and you searched for the loving salvation of a womans gaze but found nothing. Only the curious stares of boys.
You can't remember why that was so terrifying, feeling so different and so confused, not knowing a single thing about yourself. Maybe it's because those terrifying boys are now the only things in the world you would actually kill yourself to protect, but you would never dream of being scared of any one of them. Especially him.
You don't know what it was about him, but as soon as your eyes met, you felt safe. They were brown, but not the boring kind, the deep kind of brown that makes you feel warm and loved, the kind of eyes you can stare at for hours.
He jumped down into the box with you, but you didn't flinch. Even though you had no idea who the boy was, a part of you know that he was nothing to be afraid of. And when he spoke, it gave you a crippling sense of familiarity, as if you'd heard his voice a million times over but had no recollection of ever hearing it.
"It's okay, we're not going to hurt you." He spoke, and his voice drilled into your brain, as if you new it like you knew your own heart but a curtain had been draped over the memories, locking them away.
"I know." You whispered, looking into his eyes, refusing to tear your focus away from the only shred of familiarity you can't seem to remember.
That night you looked up into the sky, but saw nothing but a navy abyss. The stars were missing. For some reason you couldn't quite remember, this was your breaking point. All the stress and fear of the day bubbled up and you cried yourself silently to sleep.
That seems like decades ago, the glade. You'd been through so much since then. And throughout all of it your friends had been by your side. Minho was like a brother to you, caring and loving yet so humbling, always finding a way to show you up. And Thomas had become a symbol of hope, leading you through thick and thin and always finding a way to keep you safe.
Newt was different, the way you loved him was lightyears away from the way you loved your other boys.
You'd been in the safe haven for two weeks. Two weeks since W.C.K.D fell, since the foundations of the last city crumbled into ash. Two weeks since you'd lost your sister. It was unreal to think that you and Teresa had a whole history of loving each other before your memories had been stolen from you. A history that she dies knowing, like a secret only she was allowed to know.
There was a spot you could go to, when it all felt a bit to much. A small cliff, only twenty of so feet from the surface of the ocean, looking out into the sea. It was where you went to think.
Instead of looking out into the ocean, you looked up into the sky. Since leaving the glade, not once had you thought to check on the stars.
When you looked up at the stars, the only person you could think of was him; the way his smile made your stomach fizz like popping candy, the way his laugh could make any of your moods ten times lighter, the way his touch made you feel like nothing else in the world could touch you, the way his words drown everyone else out into white noise. But mostly you think about the way he looks at you. The way little specks of gold swim in the abyss of his eyes, shining back you. The way he looks at you as if your the only person he'll ever care to look at again.
As if you hung the stars in the sky.
"There was a time before the maze where you could tell me the name of every single constellation in the sky."
The accented voice snapped you from your day dreams, making you jump slightly. He sat down next to you, his shoulder pressed firmly against yours, as if not touching you would mean you'd slip away.
"When I woke up on the berg, my head hurt so bad I couldn't even think of my own name. I panicked at first, thinking those bloody shanks had dumped me into another one of there tests, that my whole life after the maze had been a dream,"
You kept your eyes on him, not daring to look away. He was staring at the stars, as if they were the only thing holding him together.
"Everything was so loud, I left like my brain was working as a millions miles an hour. Probably still bugged from the infection, I guess. But then you were there." He said, turning his head to look directly into your eyes.
"You leaned over me and told me everything was going to be alright, and suddenly I remember every single thing W.C.K.D had ever ripped from me. My only theory is that the infection worked like a reset button, bringing everything back."
He looked back towards the stars, and it was like he blended into them. As if he was meant to be up there, shining on everyone instead of living in this hell of an earth.
"I remember loving you, and I remember how hard you fought them when they took me away."
Your breath hitched in your throat, your eyes still piercing into the side of his head.
"It doesn't surprise me, that even after my memories were taken away, I still found a way to fall in love with you. I don't think there's a single version of me out there that doesn't fall in love with you." He's looking at you now, but he's not scared, as if he knows something you don't.
He brought his hand up to your face, brushing you cheek and pushing his fingers through your hair, resting his hand on the back of your head. He tried to pull you in, but he didn't need to, you were already there.
Your hands where on either side of his face, holding him as if he's break. And the kiss was so gentle, so delicate it was almost as if you were both made of glass. He pulled you in deeper, stealing your breath away. When he pulled away, he placed his forehead onto yours, as if desperately trying to share the memories he longed for you to remember.
"I love you." You say.
"I know." he replied.

Reuniting with Gally was awful. First, you had to discover that he was in fact still alive, then have to share a fucking sleeping space with him overnight. You both slept in hammocks, sadly next to each other, on the third floor of the little revolution group building that Lawrence had built.
You didn't know nor care about any of this, you just wanted Minho back and to get the hell out.
You'd hated him ever since the maze, before Thomas. He'd always find some way to nit pick you at your job, make snarky remarks, be all conservative to the rules even when it was just harmless fun, how he killed Chuck.
"Look, I'm sorry. I was infected, I wasn't acting in myself, like a parasite was using me as a host and driving my body while I was trapped behind my eyes." Gally speaks, "Can we meet in the middle here and make up so we can go help Minho?"
"Meet me in outer space, Gally." You roll your eyes, clearly not interested in making amends. He killed a kid, and you clearly weren't keen on letting that go, plus all the weird leader bullshit he tried pulling before you escaped the Glade and the maze itself.
He lightly sighs, watching you walk away, awaiting Thomas to arrive with Teresa in his hands so you could interrogate her. Thankfully, he did return with her, she's then tied to a chair while she's knocked out, the rest of you just waiting for her to wake up.
She thankfully does awaken, instantly confused at the presence of Gally, whom she thought was dead.
"We're gonna make this nice and simple" Gally begins as he stands up, having been leaning on the table you all sat beside. "Where's Minho?"
"I- You guys don't seriously think?-" She looks to Thomas, quickly annoying Gally.
He grabs a chair, sets it in front of her backward, and sits down in it. "Don't look at him. Look at me. Why are you looking at him? He isn't gonna help you"
You can't help but hide a grin, appreciating his sternness that he shows Teresa. She wasn't any better than him in your eyes, so you appreciated what you could when you saw the traitor be scolded or reprimanded. She didn't deserve to be able to torture kids for a living under the excuse to find a cure.
He stood up, setting the chair back at the table as they'd worked on an agreement to get the tracking chips removed from your necks to be able to actually infiltrate WCKD without immediately being caught. You wanted to thank Gally, but you really just couldn't. Even though that weird, overblown hatred for Gally had calmed, you couldn't show it.
You give him a light pat on the shoulder as you pass, a silent thanks in the interaction. He nods, slightly confused and surprised, but definitely doesn't take it for granted.
Over the course of the next few hours, you come to terms with the fact that you were really just being dramatic about most parts of why you disliked Gally, and how you through things out of proportion. You realized those emotions had become weird, confused, and tied together, confusing your brain and your heart.
You wanted to go and just ask how he made you feel the way you did, but you couldn't just upright ask that.
Tumblr media
But you did ask the next night anyways while you infiltrated WCKD to save Minho and all the rest of the kids they were testing on.
You'd just watched him put a gun to a guards neck, demanding information. You couldn't help but stare a little, having to drag your attracted gaze away.
"How do you do it?" You mutter, reloading your gun as you watch him get his clear safety glasses on, planning to burn through the lock to reach the temporary cure to the Flare Virus.
You're left alone as Thomas, Newt, and Teresa go to find Minho, leaving you with the large group of tweens. After breaking through, he hands you the bag he filled of the small vials of blue liquid, trusting you to protect it.
Jesus, Thomas. Why put you with the guy you hated on this rescue mission?
As you run down to the parking garage to meet up with Brenda, you hand the bag of temporary cure to a kid in the front, charging him with the duty to protect it at all costs. You reach said bus, loading them up before running around the compound to find the missing trio.
"How do you do it?" You ask Gally, pulling down your WCKD gaurd mask.
"What?" He asks confused. "Don't break out into song, this isn't the Glade"
You snort back a laugh. "You make me feel weird, Gally. In a good way. I don't know how you do it, but I don't like it"
He quickly takes the hint, smirking behind his mask. "Sounds like a you problem. You wanna meet in outer space to meet in the middle now?"
"Sure. I'll hold you tight if you're scared of heights," you tease, nudging his shoulder. "You are stellar"
He rolls his eyes, knowing you couldn't see his reaction. "I'm wondering if that started behind the gas mask you re-met me in, or in this"
"The enemy's gear"
"What a punch to the face, damn"
"Oh, like what Thomas did to you!"
"Okay, calm down"
"Fragile ego warning"

It's Not Goodbye
Tumblr media
Pairing:Newt x gender neutral reader
Summary:After finding out you're not immune, you are ready to get rid of yourself only to be caught by Newt.
It was okay at first. I felt no different than I always did. I was a bit sore from the Cranks, but it didn't matter. I had saved Newt from the one that tried to kill him, and that's what matters. Nobody ever died from a bite when they're immune.
Unfortunately, they do if they're not. It turns out I was one of the unlucky suckers capable of turning into those things.
At first, I didn't even notice it. There was a lot of pain in my ankle, but it wasn't bad enough to say anything. I thought I was just irritable because I was hot and tired. That's a reasonable explanation.
Then, I noticed something. Black veins started growing from the bite. That's when it finally kicked in. I wasn't immune. Now I have two options. I could kill myself or spend my life as one of those things. The choice is obvious.
I didn't tell anybody. I just didn't have enough energy. Apparently, the flare gives you enough energy to harshly shove your friend to the ground though. Minho ended up with bloody elbows after that. I went full force. All eyes turned to me, and it was obvious that everyone was pretty pissed off that I would do that. Everyone ignored me for the rest of the day.
As night fell I thought about it. My last day with them was spent with me holding back tears. I hurt my friend without thinking about it. I was dangerous which meant I had to leave. It was now or never.
Unfortunately, the only gun was in Newt's bag. I cautiously kneeled next to him. Since he was using it as a pillow I used my hand to support his head. By some miracle he didn't wake up, and I had the gun in my hands.
That's when it went wrong. Newt woke up, and in my fear I dropped him and ran. He was quickly startled awake. He looked in the bag and noticed the missing gun. By then I was already out of sight.
I put the gun against my head as my breathing grew heavy. I sucked in as much air as possible and closed my eyes. Then, I went to pull the trigger.
"No!"Newt yelled, snatching it from my hand. I quickly pulled him down and held him to the ground. He groaned in pain, and I realized just how evil I was becoming.
"I'm sorry Newt, but I have to do this. Just give it to me,"I pleaded.
"No. You're not doing this,"He argued, keeping it close to him. I knew it could go off so I took it from his hands. Before I could do anything he knocked it away, and the last bullet was set off.
"No! What have you done?! What did you do?!"I cried, rushing towards it. I did everything to click it over and over as if I could set it off. Nothing happened.
"Why would you do this? How could you do this to me?"I sobbed, burying my face in my hands. By now the others had woken up and came over to see what was happening. I'm sure it was a terrible sight. I was crying while holding a gun, and Newt was frozen in shock.
"You killed me. You killed me in the worst way possible,"I sobbed, biting my lip to hold back my screams. I heard my friends run to my side to figure out what was happening.
"I couldn't let you-"
"I'm infected. Why do you think I've been so angry lately? It's already happening. I'm losing my mind, and you just made it go on,"I explained, my throat sore from the sobbing.
A heavy silence filled the air. I pulled my pant legs to reveal the way veins were growing so it would sink in.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry,"Newt uttered, wrapping his arms around me. I just sat there and let him hold me.
"I need another way. I can't live like this."
"What if we can find some way to help? Maybe we could slow it down until we get there,"Teresa spoke up. I sadly shook my head.
"You all saw what I did to Minho. I just did it to Newt. I'd rather die as I am than being hated."
"We don't hate you,"Thomas whispered.
"Not yet. Please, help me. Let me do something. Anything,"I begged. By now even the wind seemed to stop making any noise.
"I found a knife in the mall. It's the only thing I have. I don't think anyone has anything else"Newt whispered.
"It sounds better than being beaten by Aris's bat,"I attempted to joke, giving a sad smile. I was more than thankful when he did his best to return it though it looked like a grimace.
"I'll go get it now,"He said quietly. I nodded my head as he walked away.
As he did my friends, new and old, kneeled beside me. I let them hug me, knowing it would be the last time. By now several tears from them were falling. I didn't have it in me to do that. All I knew was that I would die still being loved. That was enough.
"I'm sorry,"Minho whispered. I just sadly shook my head.
"I think I'd be just as bad if something like that happened to me,"I assured him. Before he could say anything else Newt was back with a tear streaked face.
Everyone moved as he sat beside me. He was trembling as placed the knife in my hand.
"I guess this is goodbye,"He uttered. I shook my head no.
"I don't believe in goodbyes. I'll see you later,"I corrected him.
"Okay. I'll see you later,"He repeated, placing one last kiss on my lips. It was the slowest one we ever had because it was going to be our last for a long time. Eventually, we had to pull apart.
More tears ran down his face which I wiped away. He leaned into my touch.
"I need you to go back to the campsite. Don't turn back tomorrow. Go forward so you don't have to see me like that. Can you do that for me?"I asked.
"I will. I love you Y/N."
"I know. I love you too. Now this is the part where we walk hand in hand."
"And after that?"
"One last kiss, one last I love you, and whatever comes in the next life."

2. Reader and Minho liked each other but noone had time to explore the feelings. But when Minho gets back from that night with Thomas in the maze the reader is so happy hes still alive and there is some tension building up...later on the keepers meeting (book scene) where Minho is a total hottie and says the most iconic stuff as usual reader cant help herself and once the meeting is over she suddenly kisses him.
This is a request from an anonymous user that asked for two in one, so I've had to separate them, and I'm bad at tumblr, but I'll post them at the same time to make them easier to find.
I actually whipped my copy of the book out to pull direct quotes from it. This was effort. Also, yes I know Chuck isn't there because he's the one that tells them about Alby, but this isn't here for accuracy points (I may or may not have also written the whole thing before noticing this myself but shhhh)
BEYOND THE OTHER SIDE
Tumblr media
MASTERLIST | MINHO MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
SUMMARY: See above. Book based fic. Fem!Reader.
WARNINGS: Inappropriate language, some suggestive themes but under spice because of one slightly heated make out session.
Tumblr media
"You're still here?" You don't even bother looking up to see that it's Newt. You're sat in front of the Doors with your legs crossed, Chuck using your thigh as a pillow as you told the boy to get some sleep, even if he refused to leave your side.
"What does it look like?" The British boy sighs, rubbing your shoulder.
"You know they're not coming back, right?"
You shoot him a glare, "Don't say that- if anyone can survive out there, it's Minho."
The last twenty-four hours have been a blur. First, Minho found a 'dead' Griever, resulting in a expedition for him and Alby to go check it out.
As far as you can tell, that thing definitely wasn't dead. That much was obvious when Minho came around the corner carrying an unconscious Alby.
Every part of your body was screaming to go in there and save them- help them- anything you could think of.
But Thomas beat you to it.
It had been a weird enough week as it was with another girl showing up a day after Thomas and the Box refusing to go back down, but this was definitely the hardest blow.
Now three of them, two of the most important people in the Glade, were stuck out there.
You would be lying if you weren't playing favourites.
You and Minho have an interesting relationship, to say the least. He helped you out when you first showed up in the Box. He taught you how to defend yourself and did a good job at keeping the other boys away from you. He's surprisingly emotionally intelligent and offers an understanding to your feelings of isolation that the other Gladers can't seem to grasp. It doesn't help that he's gorgeous and kind of funny.
All of this resulting in you crushing on him. Hard.
And the feeling is mutual.
And you both know it.
After a drunken confession (and make-out session) during one of the Bonfire nights, you both decided to just be friends. After all, maintaining a relationship in the Glade isn't an easy task, and it's key for Minho to focus on his work above everything.
So, you've both been pushing your feelings for each other down in favour of the greater good.
The sexual tension has been killing you, and him, especially when you've had a bit too much to drink and he keeps looking at you like that.
But this is painful. He's gone. He could be dead and you'd never see him again. Never having fulfilled your promises of a relationship once you both escape.
You've been sitting there all night. Both you and Chuck. Chuck for Thomas, you for Minho. Some early risers sent you both sympathetic glances but it just made you angrier.
You don't need their pity. They're going to be okay. They have to be okay- he has to be.
The rumbling of the Doors startles you, even though you've been expecting it since you sat down.
"Chuck," you lightly shake the boy, causing him to stir from his slumber, "Chuck, wake up. The Doors are opening."
He's groggy, but still eagerly awakes, pulling himself off of you and allowing you to stand up.
Gladers start to gather around as the giant stone entrance prepares itself to settle for the day. You, Chuck and Newt stand at the front of the crowd, Newt's hand still lingering on your shoulder in preparation to comfort you. The blond is far more realistic than you, but he still doesn't want to watch you crumble when the hope fades.
He knows your and Minho's relationship better than anyone else. He hears about it from both sides pretty much daily.
The Doors open painfully slow, almost like they're mocking you.
It reveals an empty corridor. Your jaw tenses, and you ball your fists, trying not to let your emotions take over as you look at the floor. Newt rubs your shoulder, and you can see Chuck anxiously looking at you from the corner of your eye.
It's like all the Gladers hold their breath, waiting to see your response.
But you don't get the chance to.
"No shuckin' way," your eyes flicker up to Newt, who is staring straight ahead. You follow his gaze, watching as Minho and Thomas stumble down the stretch of concrete.
"Minho!" Your voice is scratchy and you lose all care for the rules. Rushing forward, the Runner seems to be in far better condition than the Greenie, who looks like he's seen the Devil himself.
Your feet move beneath you, diving into Minho's arms. "Woah, easy, girly," he scoffs, but his muscular arms come around you. The hug is tight and full of enough emotion to show you how terrified he was.
He's alive. Oh my God, he's alive.
"Uh, this is sweet and all, but we need to get Alby down," Thomas interrupts. You pull away from Minho.
"He's still alive?"
"He better shuckin' be," Minho sounds like he's had quite the night. "Where even is he?"
"Come on- help us!" Thimas rushes to the wall by the Doors. To your surprise, Alby is strung several feet above the air, tangled to the wall with Ivy.
"How the..." You meet Newt's equal look of disbelief, but you all get to work helping your Leader down.
Thomas and Minho basically pass out the second they get to the Med-jack's hut. You let them. The next day is about to be interesting and they both need to rest.
The Gladers are already thinking about what this all means and with the revelation that Thomas had somehow killed THREE Grievers, the Glade is in some kind of uproar.
Some people are worshipping the ground that he walks on, and others want him burned at the stake. Gally is the chancellor of the latter crowd.
Alby's got the serum, so there's a ray of hope yet. But Thomas broke the rules.
Obviously, you're of the belief that Thomas has done a good thing. Alby and Minho might not have survived if it weren't for him- how could he possibly be punished for all of this?
Thankfully, that seems to be the majority opinion. But with Newt in charge and a hatred of the poor constructed democracy of the Glade, it's hard to say what will happen.
Which is why when it came to the Gathering regarding Thomas's existence in the Glade, you're stood right outside with Chuck, not so subtly eavesdropping in.
Nearly all of the Keepers came up in a group together- "veterans" as they call themselves. So, there's not much chance of you becoming a Keeper. But now you wish you were.
"What do you think they're-?"
"Shh, Chuck," you snap at the boy, hushing him as you try to make out something audible enough to gain information from.
The general chattering seems to be pretty pointless. It's just people saying the same shit everyone's been saying since the trio returned.
It doesn't take long for silence to settle, and for Newt to give the introductory speech that he is no doubt rolling his eyes about. The Keepers each take it in turn to state their opinions, thankfully most of them siding with Thomas.
Gally then has about a forty page essay on how Thomas is the spawn of Satan until Newt finally speaks again, "With no more words from Gally- go ahead, last but not least."
Minho's distinct voice fills the room. "I was out there; I saw what this guy did- he stayed strong while I turned into a panty-wearin' chicken. No blabbin' on and on like Gally. I want to say my recommendation and be done with it."
"Good that," Newt almost seems relived. "Tell us then."
"I nominate this shank to replace me as Keeper of the Runners."
You and Chuck look at each other as silence consumes the inside of the room. Both of you wear expressions of disbelief, looking at one another to assure that you actually heard that correctly.
Unsurprisingly, Gally spoke first, screaming about how Minho should lose his spot on the Council for even suggesting such a thing.
Then chaos erupts as Newt desperately tries to calm down the boys.
"Shuck it," you really do pity Newt. He somehow got swept into everyone's bullshit and the man just wants to grow his plants. "I've never seen so many shanks acting like tit-suckin' babies. We may not look it, but around these parts we're adults. Act like it or we'll disband this bloody Council and start from scratch." A beat skips as Newt seems to compose himself, "Are we clear?"
The quiet from beyond the door tells you that they've all gotten the hint.
"Good that." Newt continues, before he seems to address Minho. "That's some pretty serious klunk, brother. Sorry, but you need to talk it up to move it forward."
You and Chuck exchange another round of stunned glances. Newt's actually considering this?
There's no way. This isn't adding up. Minho would never give up his job- he's too good at it. And you've seen him injured and on prescribed rest. He hates it. The boy can't sit still for two seconds, even when he is in the Glade. If he were to just become a normal Runner, Minho would still be far too overqualified for the gig.
"It's easy for you shanks to sit here and talk about something you're stupid on. I'm the only Runner in this group and the only other one here who's even been out in the Maze is Newt." Minho sounds frustrated and still tired.
A bad mix, to be sure.
So, of course, Gally has to open his mouth. "Not if you count the time I-"
"I don't!" Minho shouts suddenly, making Chuck jump away from the door, but you don't move. Minho's playing a game here- you just know he is.
"And believe me, you or nobody else has the slightest clue what it's like to be out there. The only reason you were stung is because you broke the same rule you're blaming Thomas for. That's called hypocrisy, you shuck-faced piece of-"
"Enough," you're actually kind of disappointed Newt shut him down. It's about time someone shouted at Gally and just hearing Minho do it is making you feel some kind of way. "Defend your proposal and be done with it."
Minho takes a second before picking up again.
"Anyway, listen to me. I've never seen anything like it. He didn't panic. He didn't whine and cry, never seemed scared. Dude, he'd been here for just a few days. Think about what we were all like in the beginning. Huddling in corners, disoriented, crying every hour, not trusting anybody, refusing to do anything. We were all like that, for weeks or months, 'till we had no choice but to shuck it up and live. Just a few days after this guy shows up, he steps out in the Maze to save two shanks he hardly knows. All this klunk about him breaking a rule is just beyond stupid. He didn't get the rules yet. But plenty of people had told him what it's like in the Maze, especially at night. And he still stepped out there, just as the Door was closing, only caring that two people needed help."
You don't think you've ever heard Minho be this passionate about anything. It's definitely only adding to your liking of him, and hearing him agree with you with such determination is making your heart rate increase.
"But that was just the beginning. After that, he saw me give up on Alby, leave him for dead. And I was the veteran- the one with all the experience and knowledge. So when Thomas saw me give up, he shouldn't have questioned it. But he did. Think about the willpower and strength it took to push Alby up that wall, centimetre by centimetre. It's psycho. It's freaking crazy."
He seems to take a breath before continuing even further.
"But that wasn't it. Then came the Grievers. I told Thomas we had to split up and I started the practised evasive manoeuvers, running in the patterns. Thomas, when he should've been wettin' his pants, took control, defied all laws of physics and gravity to get Alby up onto that wall, diverted the Grievers away from him, beat one off, found-"
"We get the point," Gally stops, halting Minho's actually quite enthralling retelling of the events. "Tommy here is a lucky shank."
"No," Minho sounds completely furious, "you worthless shuck, you don't get it! I've been here two years, and I've never seen anything like it. For you to say anything..." He trails off, followed by a loud groan of frustration.
You feel angry for him. He's right, you don't get it- you've never had to experience the horrors of the Maze and Minho does it literally every single day. How can Gally even think he has a leg to stand on?
"Gally," he's suddenly scarily calm, "you're nothing but a sissy who has never, not once, asked to be a Runner or tried out for it. You don't have the right to talk about things you don't understand. So shut your mouth."
"Say one more thing like that," you can imagine spit flying from Gally's mouth as he throws the words at your future boyfriend, "and I'll break your neck, right here in front of everyone."
"Great," Chuck mumbles, "we're already at death threats." You shush him again.
Minho laughs.
A sound that sends shivers down your spine. Probably because you can tell what's about to happen.
There's a loud slapping sound. It's followed by the noises of chairs crashing and breaking and several loud, incoherent shouts.
"I swear, Gally," Minho's voice rings above the commotion, "don't ever threaten me again. Don't ever speak to me again. Ever. If you do, I'll break your shuck neck, right after I'm done with your arms and legs."
Damn.
That was hot.
Should that be hot? Do you have some interesting problems?
Probably, yes, but that can he dealt with at a later date.
"Holy shit," you murmur, Chuck humming in shocked agreement.
There's a lot more shuffling and arguing, but unfortunately, Gally decides to talk even more.
"Things are different now. You shouldn't have done that, Minho. You should not have done that. I know you hate me, that you've always hated me. You should be Banished for your embarrassing inability to lead this group." You're assuming that this is directed at Newt. "You're shameful, and any one of you who stays here is no better. Things are going to change. This I promise."
Well, that's... ominous.
"And you, the Greenbean who thinks he's friggin' God. Don't forget I've seen you before- I've been through the Changing. What these guys decide doesn't mean jack. Whatever you came for- I swear on my life I'm gonna stop it. Kill you if I have to."
You're quick to grab Chuck, yanking him towards you and out of the way of the door which flies open. Gally looks shook up, clearly Minho did more than just shout at him from his dishevelled clothing and red face. He doesn't even glance at you as he slams the door behind him.
He storms off, leaving you and Chuck to, once again, exchange glances before shrugging it off and returning to your original positions.
The discourse continues, mainly about Gally and the Changing and what it all means, with Frypan pointing out that the guy has obviously lost his mind.
The structure falls apart pretty quick. Newt giving up completely as he makes Thomas speak his piece.
Newt finally makes his judgement.
"Here's my recommendation. You broke our bloody Number One Rule, so you get one day in the Slammer. That's your punishment. I also elect you as a Runner, effective the second this meeting's over. You've proven more in one night than most trainees do in weeks. As for you being the buggin' Keeper, forget it. Gally was right on that count- stupid idea."
You know Minho's playing a game when he argues this. "Why? He's the best we have- I swear it. The best should be the Keeper."
"Fine," Newt just wants to leave at this point, "if that's true, we'll make the change later. Give it a month and see if he proves himself."
"Good that." Minho sounds completely unfazed, almost expectant of this outcome.
The vote commences with everyone agreeing to Newt's terms; even with some queries from Winston. Newt agrees to the proposal of another Gathering if shit hits the fan.
You pull Chuck out of the way again as the door flies open, most of the Keepers in a hurry to leave. Both of you flash them some slightly suspicious, sheepish smiles because you couldn't get away quick enough to play it off.
Thomas and Minho head out, leaving Newt in the Gathering room but they continue talking in the doorway.
"Keeper?" Thomas questions, yet to notice you. "You want me to be a Keeper? You're nuttier than Gally by a long shot."
Minho fakes an evil grin. "Worked didn't it? Aim high, hit low." He playfully nudges Thomas, "Thank me later."
Thomas notices Chuck, looking between you and the boy, who speaks. "That sounded like a real klunk show."
Thomas scoffs, playfully shoving the younger kid.
Jeff suddenly comes running over, stuttering over something about Alby wanting to talk to Thomas, which peaks Newt's attention, and he shoots out of the room, grabbing Thomas and dragging them in the direction of Alby. Chuck follows, probably to take part in some more eavesdropping.
You're definitely not the best influence.
"That was quite the trick, Keeper," you exaggerate the 'Keeper', causing Minho to grin at you as you casually lean against the wall, finally gaining his attention.
"You're one to talk- you could get time in the Slammer for listening in on private affairs."
"You knew I was here?"
"'Course I did- I always know where you are. Can't afford not to." You roll your eyes. Of course, he noticed you were there- he's too perceptive not to.
You take a moment to admire him. Despite getting in a fight and shouting his lungs out, Minho looks as perfect as always. And the things he said and how he acted so in control and determined makes you pull your bottom lip between your teeth.
"What?" His voice becomes considerably lower. "You know you can't look at me like-"
In an instant, you stand up straight, grabbing his shirt with some force and yanking him towards you. He makes no effort to protest as you press your lips against his.
It's just a peck, but you're now very aware that this breaks the set of boundaries you'd both set.
"Shit," you whisper, "fuck, I forgot."
He lets out a low chuckle that almost has you squeezing your legs together. "You know, when I was out in the Maze, all I could think about was you."
Your heart skips a beat, "Yeah?"
"Yeah, I just- I have everything I want right in front of me, and I didn't wanna shuck it up. But it took me nearly dying to realise I don't care anymore. This is dumb. I want you- and I can have you. Why wait?"
Your foreheads touch as his words bring tou closer together, noses touching, his eyes fixed on your lips.
"Why are you still waiting then?" That's all the confirmation he needs to ignite the kiss again. He pushes against you, your hands diving into his hair and humming into his mouth as you hit the wall behind you.
He effortlessly holds you in place, pushing his knee between your legs, hands holding your waist. Your lips dance against each other, tongues brushing just in the slightest, showing one another your wants but without taking things too far in such an open place.
"(Y/N)?" He breaks the kiss, panting more than he does after working all day.
"Yeah?"
"Do you, uh, do you wanna be my girlfriend?"
You scoff, taking him by surprise before pecking his lips once again.
Wooo, finally finished this piece. It took me a hot minute but here it is. Sorry for any errors or anything, I've not reread it because it is very late but I just had to get this out.
"Yes, shucking obviously- I thought you'd never ask."

Isn’t that what he wanted? Part two

Trigger warning: Mentions of suicide, Violence, character death, sad, a bit gory, guns are mentioned.
(I have quoted parts from the death cure)
———————————————————————
The Flare, medical name Virus VC321xb47 was a man-made disease created by the Post-Flares Coalition after the Sun Flares. The idea was to decrease the population to a point where the remaining food supplies would be steady by systematically infecting people with the virus.
However the plan had its flaws. The disease was easily able to mutate and spread, causing a pandemic, and a desperate need for a cure, or some sort of treatment to handle it because otherwise, fatalities would outnumber those born, and humanity would risk extinction.
The last city, 23:19PM, Thomas and Newt had just found and rescued Minho from the WICKED facility. And now they could be safe and happy, just the three of them reunited and Bubbles together with no WICKED to worry or run from again, right?
If only it was that easy and simple. But life’s not fair, easy or simple, they’d learnt that the hard way.
They ran together, trying to reach the tunnels to join everyone as they went to evacuate the progressively breaking city.
Newt, however, fell behind. He couldn’t keep up, his body slowly deteriorated as the virus moved up further. Blackened, dying veins made their way up to his porcelain skin, making his features look like cracking pottery. He coughed and moved against a wall, struggling.
The others were long gone, but Thomas stayed put. He was struggling to walk or support his frame, the black liquid spilling his mouth “Tommy.. please.. I..”
It seemed like a light switch, flicked on every time the flare took a hold of Newt, he’d become aggressive and seem more like a monster. Thomas tried to grab him to carry him to the others but he pushed him away, grabbing the gun from him, more of that vile liquid spilling, he pointed it at the boy he did love so so dearly. Then the switch flicked off and he noticed what he was doing, instantly turning the barrel to face himself. He hated this creature inside him.
The brunette pushed him down, taking the gun off him so he couldn’t hurt himself. Newt frantically took his capsule necklace off, almost snapping it “Take it..” he said breathlessly, barely audible. Thomas was trying to calm him but his attempts were futile.
That switch was flicked on once more.
“TAKE IT!” He yelled at Thomas desperately, snatching his hand to give him it. He tried to find Thomas’ eyes for some clarification he was real. The switch turned off “Tommy.. please do it..” the eyes Thomas found utter comfort in we’re now pleading him to pull the trigger.
Thomas refused.
“Kill me Tommy, if you’ve ever loved me, kill me, please.” The blonde begged, the pleas became more intense “KILL ME! Please! Put me out my misery before I become like them! I don’t wanna become one..” he sobbed, he was quite literally begging for death. For that sick, twisted peace he’d sought for many years before on the maze walls. The pain he felt currently, brought back those all too familiar feelings of loneliness and despair.
Thomas refused once more.
“Do it! Kill me or I kill you!”
“Newt…”
“Do it before I become one of them!”
“KILL ME!” And then newt’s eyes cleared, filled with a familiarity, a last gasp of sanity and the aggression stopped, voice soft “please Tommy please.”
And then with his heart falling into the black abyss, Thomas pulled the trigger.
He felt guilty the second he heard the gunshot. He couldn’t even find the tears to cry, he’d just killed the one he loved, Newt, the one he did all this for, he’d just killed him.
The last city, 23:57PM, Thomas and Minho sat over the cold, cold corpse of their beloved friend. Minho closed Newt’s eyes to make it more peaceful for him, like he was sleeping.
There was movement in Newt’s satchel, a small fluffy cat crawled out, walking to her owner in confusion. The poor thing didn’t understand what had happened to her friend. She pawed at Thomas. After noticing that he was crying, she realised.
Her owner was dead.
