this *firefly bush* block generates near rivers and in swamps. firefly particles appear near them at night. (EDIT: the firefly particles appear when the bush is *in the dark,* not only at night)

along with fireflies, new cow variants! warm and cold, just like pigs

all the new cows, and the old ones now have 3d noses

*another* new plant too! bushes that don't come with fireflies

final major addition was ambient sandy sounds for deserts and mesas

Fireflies are BACK in the game!

This was announced way back in 2021. They were never implemented because someone told Mojang that “fireflies are poisonous to frogs.” Originally frogs were going to be able to eat fireflies, and this scared them so they backed off from introducing fireflies.

But now they’re BACK! As a particle effect attached to a new plant! At night (or when the plant is covered in darkness) firefly particles will start to emit from the plant. Much like the spore blossom, but upside down!

Will be found near rivers and swamps.

Minecraft Mentioned Mobs

Concepts of adding mentioned mobs into Minecraft. Fireflies, Meerkats, and Ostriches.

I also thought it'd be fun to give them color variations

(disclaimer, I have 0 modding capabilities, so all this next stuff is just ideas floating around in my head)

Spawning conditions:

Yellow ones spawn in Plains, Sunflower Plains, Oak Forests, Flower Forests, and Birch Forests.

Green ones spawn in Swamps, Mangrove Swamps, and Lush Caves.

Blue ones spawn in Taigas, Mega Taigas, and Meadows.

Purple ones spawn in the End within 5 blocks of a Chorus Plant.

White ones are made if one (of any color) is struck by lightning (Hehe pun).

All (excluding purple ones) spawn below a light level of 5, or at any light level below Y 64.

Extra stuff:

They are immune to fire damage (hehe pun)

they glow (duh)

their sound effects are little chimes similar to the Allays and Amethyst Blocks.

You can breed them with Slime Balls, Magma Cream, Honey Bottles, Chorus Fruit, and Sugar.

They lay their eggs on Grass Blocks, Moss or Endstone.

1-3 spawn from an Egg Cluster

you can carry them in bottles like you can carry fish in buckets

you can replace torches in the lantern crafting recipe with bottled fireflies to make lanterns with their corresponding color (Yellow = Lantern, Blue = Soulfire Lantern, Green = Green Lantern, you get it)

Naming them "jeb_" makes them change color like sheep!

Ya know, I’ve always wondered why of all ways to collect Froglights, Mojang decided on “make a frog eat a baby magma cube”, but like, honestly, that was probably just a last minute quick fix, because my theory is that originally, they were supposed to drop when Frog’s ate Fireflies, but then Mojang did their nonsense and suddenly needed a new method.

HELLO THE MAP CALL IS OUT

The MAP call for the AVA/M shipping-centric MAP I mentioned is up!!!! Go sign up!!!!!!!!!

I figured, since there's already a few MAPs focusing on other aspects of AVA/M and its fandoms like the Hollowheads and the Villains, why not make a MAP to celebrate shipping and queer identities with the AVA/M characters?

The main map itself will be using the song "Tongue Tied" by Grouplove, but on top of that, there will also be a short outro using the song "Champions of Red Wine" by The New Pornographers. This outro will be split into four parts!

The goal is to get the final MAP out by June, so there will be plenty of time to complete your part. Do note that while the map is beginner friendly, a social media of some kind and a Discord account is required to participate. For this reason you must also be 13+!

They did it.... They added cow 2 to Minecraft...

Fire bovines and ice bovines make their way into Minecraft!! But we also got new plants, desert ambient sounds, and also FIREFLIES?????

Unfortunately, this drop is starting to be peak...., Too damn good...
