Fallen Trees in Minecraft!
We got some nice bit of parity changes in this snapshot
Fallen trees make their way to Minecraft, being covered in mushrooms and vines too! They come as fallen spruce, oak, birch, and jungle trees!
It really is like a birch forest update....
It's just so pretty man. And it synergizes super well with the leaf litter on the forest floors!
It's also super nice seeing them in the already amazing old growth taigas where they add even more flavor to these wonderful biomes!
We also finally got firefly bushes in the mangrove swamps! They're not too common, but it's always good to see them when they pop up.

So back during the Caves and Cliffs update there were teasers for other biomes being adjusted and enhanced too, and one of the concept arts was this gorgeous painting of a birch forest.

It included mushrooms on trees, new bright sunny flowers, fallen logs, leaf litter, and fireflies! And people were excited! What a cool way to enhance the biome and make it so much richer than just trees and grass!
Then… someone pointed out that fireflies are bad for frogs (a recently added mob) and Mojang got scared and pulled the plug and said they weren’t going to finish this concept.
And naturally this has been a point of contention for the community for YEARS. 3 years to be exact lol.
But then out of nowhere… for the spring drop coming soon..
Fireflies as a particle effect attached to a plant you can move around wherever you want.

Fallen logs of ALL tree varieties. Some with mushrooms that grow on them.

Leaf litter! Dead leaves that you can use as fuel for your furnace!

New sunny and bright flowers!

It took them 3 years but they seem like they finally committed to giving us what we wanted! Can we call this the engoodening of Mojang?

it would be so funny if they end up just calling the next minecraft update "the wild drop"
#rambumbles#so far it really is shaping up to just be “the wild update but for real this time”#new animal variants.. new ambience... new plants....#next thing you know they're gonna update the birch forest generation. or add new sniffer plants#I just want dedicated azalea wood so it's not just oak. and I want it to be ourple. let me have this let me dream.#anwyays. today has been harrowing. at least I got to clean the fridges again. almost makes up for Everything Else (lying)

As autumn closes in my part of the world, here is a newer version of my Brethil board with some edited lighting, updated sources, etc
Brethil was a country that made up the Northwestern border of Doriath and was home to the people of the House of Haleth. It was made up of deciduous forests containing a high number of birch trees, hence the name meaning “silver birch”

I don't have a topic for my next board so feel free to request!

The Forgotten Island, AKA The Kingdom of Stars
A ISAT and Sky:Cotl Mix list of headcanons for a possible sequel of the main game.
MAP HERE!
Basic Information and Assumptions from the game:
From what we know, The Country is a rocky, forest, and mountain-filled island, close enough to be seen from Bambouche. Because of the cold climate, I’ll assume that it's located more northern than anything else in the ISAT world. Let’s also assume that it’s a highly humid country (it’s an island, so). Therefore, for a society built principally on the study of stars, I will further assume that the mountains there are high enough to well surpass the level of the clouds.
Another post also pointed out how the Country closest reference would be Iceland, which I couldn’t agree more ( even though I don’t think it would be THAT cold, I think the cold is more from the altitude than the position on the globe itself)
My personal take:

If even children are aware from a very young age of the physics and rules of the cosmos, then it’s safe to assume that these things not only are being taught in schools but are also present in their everyday lives in their homes. Just like the Change god is present in the form of statues and figurines around every house of Dormont, we could imagine that every house of The Country could have had its own observatory floor.
For an entire town, or city, or even country, to be able to see the stars perfectly at night, they would need to have their buildings more elevated than wide, so that the upper floors aren’t so affected by street lights pollutions or other form of illuminations for the roads.
As for the materials, we can drop down to at least:
Wood, from probably evergreen trees such as birch or even pine and spruce?
Basalt, from the (most likely) volcanic beach. It has also wonderful heat-keeping properties so It wouldn’t be strange to assume they use it in their buildings as well. The dark color also reflects less light during the night and would increase the star's visibility.
Other grey stones or concrete, from which they build at least the base of their tower-based architecture to be able to sustain multiple floors.
While an island such as The Country should technically be poor in metal, the presence of volcanic terrain and geysers should, on the positive side, mean that there is the presence of gold! So yes, shiny gold decorations for observatories or other star-related rooms are realistically allowed :)
I will take as a reference from the world of Sky 3 main realms for this AU:
Isle of Dawn: can be used as a reference for the surroundings part of the kingdom, using the same rocky and sandy morphology. Sky also has many boats scattered around the kingdoms, and since the Country mostly based its economy on trade and fishing was its main source of protein, I’ll take those as a reference as well.

Valley of Triumph: for its peaks, mountains, and climate. Also maybe for their transportation methods and house architecture from the Village of Dreams

Vault of Knowledge: the Vault itself is just one big building that could be well used as a like the main capitol center building for archive, research, and study of Wish Craft and stars. The architecture itself can also be used as an inspiration for other buildings such as libraries and schools.
I'll be updating this thread with possible more personal designs and sketch about the architecture!
Let me know if you finds errors in what I wrote or personal suggestions!

Minecraft did Acacia trees so dirty man.
Acacia tree's are huge majestic trees with twisting branches and a wide coverage of leaves.
But theres more-
Did you know they have thorns?
They are literally covered in these massive claw-like thorns to stop predators and leaf-munchers (except giraffes, the thorns dont bother them)
But that's not all-
Acacia trees are fucking fireproof.
They have natural oils in their wood that protects them from the weather changes in the savanna, including mild fires.
IT GETS BETTER-
Acacia trees are best friends with fire ants!
They have a symbiotic relationship, where the tree provides food and shelter for the ant colony, and in return the ants fucking attack the leaf-munchers that come near the trees. (again, except giraffes, they're just tall multicolored bastards)
Conclusion?
Minecraft needs a savanna update. In which they make the acacia trees uselessly overpowered.
Imagine hitting the massive tree and a colony of fucking fire ants start attacking you.
You try walking on the leaves and you just start taking damage from them.
oh you wanna clear some land for your base? Too fucking bad. we don't support deforestation in this biome. Go find a birch forest or some shit.
Y'wanna know where I learned this?
I just remmebered it randomly, but I learned this in 9th grade Social studies.
Please make a savanna update where the acacia trees are op.
pwetty pwease (つ╥﹏╥)つ

OK so in art we had to do a watercolor drawing of a single thing really zoomed in and I picked my converse cause I thought they looked cool. But mine are red and I didn't want to use one color for the whole picture so I wanted to find a way to make it colorful.
I asked a couple people and they gave me the idea to just do a bunch of different angles of converse with each one being a different color.
So I got the idea to make it ninjago themed!
Update: GUYYYSSS I GOT A 100% ON THIS ASSIGNMENT. NINJAGO W!!!

Zoom ins, details, explanations for design choices and more under the cut! @coconut-ice-cream-137 and @rusted-fairy-wings really helped me brainstorm ideas for these so that you to them for all the help!!
Kai's shoe

-OK to be honest his was the most basic but the one I drew first and possibly the one that inspired the ninjago theme in the first place.
-so the flames are an obvious tie to his element and sorta self explanatory
-I was stuck on ideas though and it randomly struck me to make his scar included into his shoe as well and make it look ripped open!
-I chose the yellow laces cause he has a lot of yellow/gold accents on his gis and I thought it would fit better!
-I would definitely try to make his more interesting if I wasn't on a time crunch and got to think it out more
-thank you to rusty for hearing out my ideas for his!
Nya's shoe

-OK I think this one is really cute!
-I have the all star converse and since she has an ocean theme I decided to make it a star fish instead.
-I included her water form markings cause I think their really cool and they were fun to add!
-I think I did well with the colors and I like that I put 2 different shades of cyan instead of 1
-I really wouldn't change anything about this one and I think it's 1/2 solid ones I'm completely happy with :)
Cole's shoe

-So for him I did the bottom of my shoe cause I thought that the triangle diamond like markings could be colored to look like his lava markings he gets in his arms
-Originally that was all I was gonna do, but someone in class mentioned that it looked like a pineapple so I knew I had to switch it up lol.
-Since my shoe curved up at the top I decided to make it look like a volcano so it was more clear that the markings were supposed to look like lava since it was dripping into it.
-The bottom part was supposed to look like mountains but I forgot to outline it so it doesn't really look like it. (I'll definitely fix it when I get my paper back)
-This is the 2nd shoe that I think I'm completely happy with!
Zane's shoe

-This one gave me the most trouble to be honest
-I didn't have many ideas for what I could do with his outside of making the star into the snow flake symbol he has on his gi in the movie.
-While I was making it I decide to try and give elements that made it look like his og heart core in the show.
-I kinda wanted pixal to be included somehow and needed to make the shoe look more balanced so I added her markings on the side so that there was both parts of his heart on both parts of the shoe.
-The heel part was a last minute choice. I was trying to make it look like the gold head piece on all of the ninjas masks cause I thought it would look cool but the overall shape was a bit off.
-I think I should have left it there and made it just the solid gold piece but there was a square on the heel of my shoe that said the logo and stuff so I decided to include that and made it the birch forest that he unlocks his tree potential in.
-But idk it think it makes the shoe look all over the place
Jay's shoe

-So with his I ended up making the point of the shoe have lightning strikes on it
-I didn't know how to draw lightning or how I would go about outlining it so I left it where it was.
-I made the little metal pieces look like gears to reference his inventor past instead of just having regular ones.
-I added a quote on his that somehow got...smudged off? Huh I wonder why jay would smudge it off...
-The backround is also on Jay's shoe and his only. You could probably give that some sort of meaning but I was tired so i couldn't come up with a reason tbh
-Overall I wish I had done more with it like make the laces be in the shape of lightning or something but I was heavily focused on the refrence photo that I didn't think to do it since it was already too complicated in my eyes
Lloyd's shoe

-I made the star into the little design movie lloyd has on his gi cause i love him and thought it would be nice.
-And yellow laces!!
-Originally I was just gonna do some plant stuff with his (I didn't have any design ideas I just thought that the whole life = nature thing) but then I looked at my shoe for a second and I was like-
"Oh my shoe looks like the wing of a dragon!!"
-And I told some classmates that and they were so confused. And were just like "????" So I showed them a picture of my shoe that I drew on to show them my vision:

-They still didn't get it but I thought the idea was cool so I went with it anyway!
-The shoe anatomy is off but I really like the idea of it so it was fun to design which is good!
Garmadon/Wu's shoe

-So I knew that since there was a big chunk of space in the picture and I couldn't decided to either do garmadon (all the ninja +their enemy) or wu (all the ninja + their sensei aka the good side)
-I talked to coconut about it and they said that I could make one shoe that was Yin and yang with both of them!
-I thought that was really cool and wanted to do it but I realized that no matter what position I put the shoe in, it wouldn't fit that whole chunk of space. So I decided to make it a Frankenstein shoe!
-Wu and garmadon have their own shoe, but their's are stitched together, making both of their little star circles combine to make the yin and yang symbol!
-Underneath is both of their head pieces that I decided to make into an hour glass shape (representing their immortality but also the time twins situation)
-Then on the bottom part I made it wu's staff and a snake for garmadon with the white part having yellow and purple blend into eachother.
-I think this one is really nice.
Overall
I can see a lot of mistakes I made with this piece, rather that was design choices, line art mistakes or bad shoe anatomy there's definitely stuff I could fix if I ever decided to recreate this. But with this piece I realized something pretty important-
My art (and anything I do) doesn't have to be perfect for me to still feel proud of it. It doesn't have to be masterful or something that my teacher would show off to others to be happy about it. I think mine was pretty good for someone who's only done serious water color a handful of times and I took time and effort into this and tried my best and that's the best thing I could do. I'm happy with this!

Yay for Minecraft updating old features! This drop is basically adding parity between basic older trees and the new Cherry Trees. Why should only the Cherry Trees have falling leaves?
There is kind of a discrepancy with the Spruce Tree, which should have needles rather than leaves, but that's not a big deal. After all, the "Oak Tree" still drops apples. Surprised Mojang hasn't changed that yet, with how literal they can get about nature sometimes.
The wildflowers surprised me, because they feel redundant with Dandelions around. Maybe if they add Seasons, they could update Dandelions to enter their fuzzy phase sometimes to make them distinct.
"Leaf Litter" is an interesting word for the fallen leaves. I'd have probably loved that weird term when I was getting into Minecraft. I hope they fix them to work on other blocks besides dirt, because as anyone with autumn trees knows, fallen leaves get everywhere. People will want these leaves on sidewalks, driveways, roofs, etc.
The two new pigs are okay. There are two of them, and...they're pigs. I don't think this includes a motivation to ride the pigs again, lol. Most people suspect they're adding the Moobloom next, and I'd be really surprised if they didn't. 1-3 biome variations for each the cow, chicken, and pig sound reasonable for the drop.
Here's the stuff I'd like to see in later snapshots:
The Muddy Pig
The Moobloom
Black and Brown Chickens (A lot of texture packs add a Duck texture, but I think that would be a separate mob that can float on water.)
Tree Mushrooms (from the Birch Forest concept art)
Leaf litter for Spruce Biomes - maybe pine needle variants
Also, I hope they do keep a few regular flowers in the forests that have Leaf Litter. It would be make them feel less varied if not.
I don't know if that's too much - I'm not sure how Mojang measures how many features should be in a drop, but anything not in this drop, I'll just hope for in a future drop. Either way, I'm really happy Mojang is finally updating the forests and the original overworld animals.

Named Woods of Beleriand
I’m in the process now of updating my geographic resources to make sure all information is accurate and as extensive as possible! Here is my Masterlist: Flora and Fauna of Arda
Please feel free to request any aspects of geography to go over! I’ll do non Beleriand locations too!
Christopher Tolkien’s Map of Beleriand can be found here Most locations mentioned can be found on it and the general regions can be found for those left out
Map Notes: Núath was not mentioned in the published Silmarillion and is not on Christopher’s map of Beleriand and the Lands to the North. It is however in the map in the back of The Children of Húrin. Alternately, while Nan Tathren DOES appear on Christopher’s map, it is not in the map in the Narn.
Arthórien: the easternmost forest that made up Doriath.
Brethil (”silver birch”, later called Sarch nia Chîn Húrin or the Grave of the Children of Húrin) was a forest in Western Beleriand, bordered by the river Sirion on the East and one of its larger tributaries, Taeglin along the West. It was considered part of the kingdom of Doriath however was not part of the Girdle of Melian and was later inhabited by descendants of the House of Haleth. Silver birches were the most common tree though I write a bit more about canonical flora as well as my own speculation here!
It has the dubious distinction of being the death site of Túrin, Niënor (though she was not buried there) and Morwen as well as the location where Húrin Thalion was imprisoned (again) and tried.* When Beleriand fell beneath the waves after the War of Wrath, the grave site of Túrin and Morwen remained partially above the water and was called Tol Morwen.
Nan Emloth (”Valley of star dusk”) was an Eastern Beleriand forest east of Doriath and near the river Celon, a tributary to the river Aros, itself a tributary to Sirion. It was somewhat North of Estolad. The trees here grew tallest of all of Beleriand and there was little to no sunlight. It was home to Eöl, originally from Doriath. It was also in Nan Emloth that Melian met Thingol and the two fell into an enchantment lasting years.
Nan Tathren, the Valley of willows, was in middle Beleriand, between East and West where the river Narog met the Sirion, north of the Mouths of Sirion and South of the Gates of Sirion. In the Book of Lost Tales, it was said that the flowered meadows of Nan Tathren was where all butterflies came into the world and though this was likely later struck from canon, it’s possible it remained as a story and butterflies were still abundant here.
Neldoreth is a forest of beech trees, part of Northern Doriath and contained within Melian’s Girdle. It was here that Lúthien was born and later imprisoned to prevent her from rescuing Beren. It was bordered by the River Esgalduin on the South and and River Mindeb on the West, both tributaries to Sirion. The tallest beech tree in the forest was Hírilorn and it was here that Lúthien was imprisoned.
Nimbrethil was a forest of birches in the realm of Arvernien on the Northern shores of the Bay of Balar. Wood from these trees were used to construct Vingilot, the ship of Eärendil. The forest was South of the river Narog and West of Sirion.
Nivrim was a forest of mostly oak trees and was the only part of Doriath contained within Melian’s Girdle that fell West of the River Sirion. It was North of the Twilight Meres. There was a guarded bridge that was built over Sirion, near where it met with its tributary Esgalduin, that connected it with the rest of Doriath.
Region is within Melian’s Girdle in Southern Doriath. It was populated mostly by holly trees and was where the kingdom of Menengroth was built. It was bordered by Aros on the South and Esgalduin to the North.
Taur-im-Duinath, the Forest between rivers, was a forest that lay between the rivers Sirion and Gelion. Gelion was the greatest of the seven rivers of Ossiriand and the only one that ran North to South. It was South of the Andram and East of the Bay of Balar. It was described as dark and gloomy and uninhabited save but for small, transient groups of Avari.
Taur-en-Faroth was a series of wooded hills in Western Beleriand west of the river Narog. They were part of the kingdom of Nargothrond.
Taur-nu-Fuin, Forest of Dread was the Southern part of Dorthonion after it fell under the rule of Morgoth after Dagor Bragollach. As I mentioned in my post about it, there are vivid descriptions in The Silmarillion, The Children of Húrin, and The Lays of Beleriand that name species that dwelt there.
The woods of Núath was a small forest South of the Ered Wethrin where the river Ginglith, a tributary to Narog, began.

New Y'all It's Fall update now available for both Bedrock and Java Edition! It fixes Potted Azaleas and underwater fog (on Bedrock Edition), and also tweaks the colors of Savannas and some other biomes.
Links:
Bedrock Edition (PMC)
Java Edition (PMC)
Java Edition (Modrinth)
Changelog:
Bug Fixes
[BE] Azalea Leaves and Flowering Azalea Leaves now look the same when covered as when they do when Fancy Leaves is disabled. (Vanilla inconsistency) ৹ Does not apply to Java Edition because Leaves do not become opaque when covered there.
Pack now affects Potted Azaleas and Potted Flowering Azaleas. (Pack oversight)
[BE] Relatedly, the particles for Azaleas and Flowering Azaleas are now the correct color. (Pack oversight) ৹ Does not apply to Java Edition because it uses a different texture for these particles and did not need to be fixed.
Potted Flowering Azaleas no longer have flowers on their insides, to match normal Flowering Azaleas. (Vanilla inconsistency)
[BE] Water in normal Swamps and Swamp Hills is now 90% opaque instead of 65% opaque. ৹ Swamp water is intended to be 100% opaque, but Mojang broke it in game version 1.21.40. Instead of fully restoring the opacity, I decided to change it to 90% because it looks better. ৹ Does not apply to Java Edition because the opacity of Water is hardcoded there and cannot change based on biome.
General Changes
[JE] Pack now reads as compatible with game versions from 1.21.0 to 1.21.3. ৹ Does not apply to Bedrock Edition because version compatibility is an opt-out system there, rather than an opt-in one.
[JE] Pack now reads as compatible with game versions all the way back to snapshot 23w31a, which is the first to support multi-version packs.
[BE] Panorama is no longer the one from the Trails and Tails Update. (Removed panorama textures since the Tricky Trials panorama has no visible plant life aside from some Mossy Cobblestone)
[JE] Panorama now only shows the Trails and Tails variant in game versions from snapshot 23w31a to release 1.20.6. Otherwise, the vanilla panorama is shown. ৹ Does not apply to Bedrock Edition because resource packs do not have version overlays there.
Tweaked the grass and foliage colors in the Savanna again (including carried Acacia Leaves texture). They should now be a warm golden brown rather than a dull reddish one. (This also affects Deserts and Nether biomes)
Tweaked the grass and foliage colors on Stony Peaks. They should now be more noticeably paler and colder than in the Forest, but not to the extent that they are on Windswept Hills.
Tweaked the grass and foliage colors on Plains. They should now be slightly lighter and yellower. (This also affects normal Beaches and Dripstone Caves)
[BE] Water in Jungles and their variants is no longer bright neon green. It is especially less green in the Sparse Jungle. Still a little green, though. ৹ Does not apply to Java Edition because Water color is defined via data pack and inaccessible via resource pack there.
[BE] Water in normal Swamps, Swamp Hills, and normal Rivers is now slightly less blue.
Pack now affects Mossy Cobblestone and Mossy Stone Bricks! They are now slightly less green. ৹ The Mossy Cobblestone on the panorama has been intentionally left out.
[BE] Pack now affects Water in the Tall Birch Hills, Modified Jungle Edge, and Shattered Savanna Plateau since I missed those biomes before. ৹ These biomes are unused by world generation, and as such, are very hard to test. If you spot any issues with them, please let me know.
[BE] Pack now (finally) affects underwater fog in all biomes in which the surface water color is also affected. ৹ This is done by adding new fogs and not by replacing the existing fogs for command reasons, but I am not sure how this affects resource pack compatibility.
[BE] Subpack Changes Do not apply to Java Edition due to the lack of Subpacks.
Removed Winter subpack! It has been moved to its own standalone resource pack called "Y'all, It's Winter!" ৹ As such, all winter related resources have also been removed, except for the sound events, which remain for command reasons.
Renamed "Autumn" subpack to "Whole World".
Added "Forest Only" subpack.
Technical Changes
[BE] All affected block textures have been moved to "textures/cb_custom_blocks/autumn" for potential resource pack interaction, except for the textures for Mossy Cobblestone and Mossy Stone Bricks, since the terrain_texture.json entries for their walls have not been flattened. ৹ This is done using terrain_texture.json and not blocks.json for potential interaction with Slightly Better Foliage Colors. ৹ Yes, I know it's been a long time since I officially dropped Slightly Better Foliage Colors interaction. I will get it working again eventually.
[JE] All affected block textures (except those for Mossy Cobblestone and Mossy Stone Bricks) have been moved to "textures/block/cb_autumn" for potential resource pack interaction. ৹ This is done using the model files without touching the blockstates files for potential interaction with Slightly Better Foliage Colors. ৹ Yes, I know it's been a long time since I officially dropped Slightly Better Foliage Colors interaction. [BE] Lowered resolutions of colormaps birch.png, swamp_foliage.png, mangrove_swamp_foliage.png, and swamp_grass.png to 1x, 1x, 1x, and 2x respectively. Hopefully this doesn't cause issues. ৹ Does not apply to Java Edition because none of these colors are defined by colormaps there.
