One of the best parts of hermitcraft season 10 so far is the conversations like this.
Builder: hey I know autocrafters are expensive but do you have any I could borrow?
Redstoner: of course buddy! What are you gonna use them for? A super smelter? An afk farm? A-
Builder: cupboards!
Redstoner: what.
Builder: if you place two autocrafters next to each other they look like a cupboard and I’ve been meaning to decorate my kitchen recently.
Redstoner: never talk to me again.

updated to 1.21 and also updated my shaders (complementary). They added advanced colored block lighting support and damn it makes stuff look foggy but DAMN
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
library is pretty much just warmer colors
Tumblr media
Storage system was lowkey built with colored block lighting in mind, and it is meant to be orange as hell. Free blue light filter!!!

One of my early moments of Ethogirl-ism was when Mojang revealed the plans for the autocrafter and I saw several people go "I wonder what Etho will have to say about it." Sure, Etho is pretty cool but why would he have to say anything different than anyone else had already been saying, I wondered, but then he actually did and (in his LP #584) said he thinks the autocrafter will make more people interested in redstone, I thought that was a good point and an interesting angle.
Eventually I forgot about that until 1.21 came out two days ago and I immediately built an autocrafter in my world because unlike most other redstone things it seems both low entry and immediately useful. Except it didn´t do quite what I hoped (you can´t just put a redstone block next to it to keep it powered, it needs a signal every time apparently) and I started to wonder how to fix it. Surely it can´t be that hard, and it would be very useful. Hmmm.

you guys are mad about mobs but ignoring the REAL tragedy: mojang still hasn’t given us good stair/slab-able purple blocks in vanilla. purpur does NOT cut it.

gregposting #3
It is greg time! This time I will be presenting my largest automation project in modded minecraft thusfar: Automated LV, MV, and HV circuits!
Playing Nomifactory CEu. MV age, 72 hours playtime (18 hours since last gregpost)
Tumblr media
Before we get to the big ole' circuits line, we have the primary boon of HV circuits: AE autocrafting! Here we have the AE basement.
Tumblr media
And because relatively little of the autocrafting in any gregtech pack will happen in the molecular assemblers, here we have the 22 machines currently employed for the job.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And finally, the star of the show which will be supporting my efforts for a while, the circuits line. Although the conduits are all over the place, it's decently organized with each group of machines handling the production of 1 or 2 ingredients.
Tumblr media
Here's the flowchart used to plan the whole thing. There're about 45 machines in total. Also, in addition to the boule EBF, there're two more EBFs; one for silicon and one for aluminium. They feed into the ME system rather than directly into the circuits line, as they're often used elsewhere.
And with all this, what comes next? The clear next step is to expand the base's energy production. With the circuits line active, the base is consuming almost 20,000 RF/t. Current production has a capacity of ~25,000 RF/t, but it's burning through fuel slightly faster than the DML system produces it. Energy demands will only continue to grow, too. Therefore, the next step will be to increase PPC production and expand the DML line. After that, I'll be working towards HV proper.

My personal thoughts on the minecraft announcements:
YOOOOO those trial chambers look so cool! i think i'll have a fun time in there! The Trial spawners look so interesting love the glowing eyes! and the breeze seems like a fun guy, looks kinda like an air blaze! cant wait to kidnap it and keep it as a pet!
All those new blocks look so pretty! love how big those tuff bircks look and the chiseled ones have such a pleasing pattern! and those new copper blocks! oooooooo so lovely! and copper doors and trap doors!! gotta love new doors!
and i never thought they'd do it, but they added an autocrafter!? wild. i probably could never do anything cool with it, but pretty big addition
And my Boi! The Armadillo!!! LESGOO!! GG crabs and penguins hope yall get added soon!
all in all, pretty good snippet of update! cant wait to see what else they add!

as someone who plays modded minecraft since 1.5 modpacks i’ve already played with the new update.
i’ve built with blocks that are almost pixel perfect to the new blocks.
i’ve raided dungeons way cooler than this one.
i’ve used autocrafting systems that are way more fun and challenging than this one.
and yes its going to be interesting and more minecraft-y but it’s just not enough.
i’m going to play with some friends for a few hours raid the new dungeon build with some of the new blocks and play with some of the new redstone features and then after 2 days max i’ll get bored and the only minecraft content i’ll consume will be hermitcraft, rekrap2, clownpierce until the friend or foe series is done, and some technical minecraft players like ilmango and cubicmetre. which is a pretty big group of people its like 8-10 different people but when i get more excited to see a new ethoslab video than the biggest minecraft event of the year and new updates i can’t ignore it anymore… minecraft have became a kids game and microsoft doesn’t care about the java player and especially the older ones who were there from the beginning. its not that neat indie game that got super popular anymore. its that huge game made by that huge company so kids will buy stuff. i seriously cannot see how bedrock is any different than roblox other than the official collabs with big IPs. they’re so similar even in the “not paying the devs who makes the marketplace stuff enough if anything” department. (like seriously side tangent but this needs to be regulated asap people getting pennies for months of hard work for both roblox and minecraft bedrock but because they’re not official employees its ok?? also all the dark paths that both companies and every other company uses to make people(especially children) buy stuff from them should be a crime!)

So... the big problem I have with minecraft is decision paralysis, and maybe some executive dysfunction (that's harder for me to concretely say is what's going on)
See... what I really need to do is get a bunch of farm up and working because gathering materials is one of my biggest mental roadblocks
Like building the stuff I've designed, easy... getting all the wood or whatever... that's the problem
So make some farms, right? Well what's this? It's decision paralysis with the steel chair! I've picked out a good spot for the storage system, but where should the farms be in relation to that? How should autocrafting be handled? Which farm should I make out of the options I've found? Where do I get the materials for it? But seriously, is this the best spot to put it, is there somewhere else that would be better?
You see what I mean? That's not an exaggeration either, in fact if anything that's way more discreet cause it's more like every one of those thoughts at the same time
...then there's villagers that just... what a massive oof. I need to get them organized and get all their trades set up before we update to the most recent version, but... the idiots toolsmith/armorer/and whatever the 3rd one was found a way to die in the forge room despite my idiot proofing (I think they found ways to cheat their ai and get on the rails, and then used that to go drown themselves, cause I saw them hop on the rails)... oh yeah, and I play in Irish to help myself learn, but that means it's very very hard for me to read what the book trades actually are, and I just don't like flipping back and forth to english
Then there's the issues with designing things, but honestly I'd settle for just building what I've come up with so far... and a lot of that comes down to needing the right materials so I can just sit and build... and really that comes down to having the right farms... and part of me wants to update the server so we have auto crafters to work into the farms... (oh... and don't forget it would be nice to get shulkers for a shulker farm so the farms could have an auto loader), and if I'm gonna update then I really need to get all the villager trades locked in (and maybe make a small trading hall on the industrial island that have had the zombie treatment, since that goes away, and the main base villagers are almost cosmetic)
...so you get how my brain gets in the way of me being able to play minecraft, right?
In a way it's good, in a way this is a perfect low risk environment to try and train my brain how to deal with this stuff more... but it sucks so bad, you know?
