Tap, Untap. Concede?
Well, people voted on this one, so time to talk about this one! Years and years back, when I first assembled it, it was much more about stealing stuff and abusing the peculiar wording on Merieke's abilities allowing for a few shenanigans. Some of that remain to this day, Nightmare Shepherd, Faerie Artisans, Darksteel Plate...
it pivoted over the years onto much more of a generic focus on tap abilities and untap effects. Given the propensity of untap effects to go infinite, I kept discovering more ways to go infinite in the deck, so instead of fighting it, I went along with it. This deck will combo off if left unchecked for too long, that's a fact of life and the main wincon of the deck though stealing threats with Merieke is still here as a backup.
This is a deck I pull out relatively rarely among my pool, because more relaxed pods don't always want the pressure of playing against a combo deck, certainly not one with a commander that can steal things. But I enjoy playing it immensely, as it has a lot of interesting lines of play.
There's not one given combo for the deck, you're mostly assembling things on the fly. The basis of it is basically to generate a multiplicative untap source, something that can untap more permanents that it takes to generate the effect. As such, the main combo enablers for the deck will be Pemmin's Aura, Freed from the Real and Illusionist's Bracers. Some of them require another untapper, or a permanent that taps for two or more colored mana, or something else. Halo Fountain can also serve as the multiplying untap source in the right circumstances. Another way to combo is to use Unctus, which is a simple two card combo with Aphetto alchemist or three cards with any two untappers, allowing you to loot through your entire deck if necessary to find another combo. And of course, Staff of Domination can get out of hand, along with Lithoform Engine with some untap effects.
As far as actually winning the game, generating infinite untaps generally means you get access to infinite mana, and with any of the many, many tapping effects in this deck, also infinite of something else you can parley into a win. Halo Fountain can do the job of actually winning the game once everything is set up. Fain the Broker can generate an infinitely big army of infinitely big flying creatures that you can haste up with boots or a drawbridge. Merieke and Beguiler of Wills can steal your opponents' entire board. Shorikai will draw through your deck while making 40 1/1s that shaile can pump up infinitely. Wizard's Spellbook will copy all the spells in all the graveyards,...
Before you combo, of course, you also play cards with tap effects, creatures and artifacts, to get some value and play a "fair" gameplan. Be they upsides on mana rocks or just fun cards. In that area (and in others, as Norritt can attest, just not as much), the picks are very much cards that look fun and are on theme with their tapping effect more than "optimized" choices for everything. Shaile and Embrose are a pet card of mine, Oracle en-Vec is just fun to play with, and the Deck of Many Things is certainly not the best card ever printed.
The manabase is dated but I've barely touched it up over the years, there are certainly optimizations to make.
Something that's very convenient is the tendency for recent untappers to be able to target any permanent, which includes lands. This makes them double up as value engine and ramp in this deck, and is particularly potent with lands or rocks that tap for more than one mana, which in this deck also happen to be combo pieces. Lotus Field, bouncelands, Empowered Auto-Generator. This deck can get up to high amounts of mana, and doesn't always have enough fuel to spend it on. Probably means it should go a bit heavier on card draw, but slots are slots.
Anyway, this is one of my favorite decks to pilot as mentioned earlier, I just make sure that any opponents facing it know what they're dealing with and to try and stop me.

(you can see the reward beforehand) - Four Dwarf types with the scout the only one unlocked initially. - The game plays like a Vampire Saviours wherein you don't control what and when you shoot your weapons, hitting a loot bug and mining happens automatically when you come into contact with them. - Each location in an area has five levels where getting into the pod takes you to the next level. - Each level has a bar and as you kill bugs it fills up and triggers events such as the elite bugs (needed to end the level and trigger the pod), events such as swarms and helpful pod drops with a level-up item in it. - Earn exp by picking up the fragments that drop from enemies and level up. - Each time you level up you get to choose one of three random upgrades (optional re-roll paying with collected gold) - Selecting the same gun in a level up levels guns level up and as you upgrade the gun the better it gets but also eventually you unlock the ability to add modifiers and perks to the weapon. - You have two weapons and a grenade type for a base load out. - Plays on an isometric view. - Very impressive stressful enemy count on screen. - Feels very polished, especially for performance. - The game is highly addictive as finishing and starting runs very quickly. - You keep collected gems/ore and it's used as currency to buy permanent state upgrades. - Unlock new weapons and items to have them possibly appear in future runs. - The final level of a location is a huge boss encounter. - When the pod is triggered (after you kill the elite/boss) you have 30 seconds to get in it or you are left behind. - Every character you unlock plays completely differently. - Mining helps you create your routes, tactics, and strangle points in a level. - You get random optional side missions for extra rewards. - In between location areas, you can spend red crystals and gold on upgrades in the shop. - Red candy heals you when collected. - You can see the ores and minerals clearly before mining them. - You have a mini-map that fills in as you play. - The game allows you to play how you want, for example, you could go in and just focus on leveling up a particular gun to unlock perks and buffs to it for later runs. - Artifacts are given from the supply pod that drops and are bigger item buffs like a chance to find gold when mining or knock enemies back etc. - Loot bugs can be mined for loot. - Has satisfying noises and sounds. - Three unique locations to unlock each with a handful of areas and stages. - Enviromental hazards. - Clear easy-to-read user interface and Hud. - You can pause the game. - The controls could not be simpler. - All level perks have a rarity level and show what they do. - When the boss or elite is spawned the bugs grow in strength and numbers as you let time pass. - You have a voice-over guy who helps but also gets progressively annoyed when you take too long. - Your character will do shout-outs randomly. - Every run is random. - Elemental attacks can be equipped, usually from mods on weapons and grenades you can do such elements as kinetic and lightning. - Any bug with a health bar above its head drops more eco fragments. - Different bug types like spitters, flying and even exploding ones. - You are always making progress whether it be collecting X amount of minerals levelling up a gun to 12 to enable mods in the future or just getting gold and valuable Intel. Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor Preview Cons: - No tutorials. - You cannot change any controller settings. - Slow starter as the default class and weapons/upgrades are not ideal and it keeps the slow pace. - No camera control which sometimes can get annoying. - A slight crack between two areas makes it unpassable despite clearly looking fine. - Very addictive and can cause a loss of productivity in other tasks in life and render you a roguelike zombie. - Only a small pool of enemy types until the later locations. - You get the same two or three bonus materials. - Doesnt have a hub area which is very poignant in the original game. - Trying to remember which material is for which upgrade. - All the locations are unlocked and their requirements are not clear. “Big Auto and Big Oil have been in a partnership for a hundred years,” said Tim Sahay, a senior policy manager at the Green New Deal Network. “Now the automakers need to form new partnerships with metal companies.” The electric vehicle boom is underway, and U.S. automakers’ efforts have been turbocharged by the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). U.S. firms are scrambling to create new relationships and hit production targets—but are often finding that their Chinese competitors have gotten there first.
Metals is a diverse business, but some countries dominate: lithium from Chile, cobalt from the Democratic Republic of the Congo—and for nickel, most roads lead to Indonesia.
Indonesia has 22 percent of global nickel reserves and in 2021 provided 37 percent of the global supply. The Indonesian government has cannily exploited its position. Tariffs and exports bans have helped push companies not just to dig in Indonesia but to process metals there, too.
Battery and car companies, looking to guarantee a steady supply of nickel, are considering getting involved. However, as with lithium and cobalt, Chinese companies already hold a dominant position.
Making up ground will be hard. Chinese metals companies benefit from long-standing relationships with Indonesia. “When Chinese companies are developing assets in Indonesia, there’s a very steady stream of parts and labor and material going from China to Indonesia to enable them to build new assets quickly, on schedule, and on budget,” said Harry Fisher, a project manager at Benchmark Mineral Intelligence.
This efficiency has helped Chinese nickel producers quickly pivot from focusing on nickel pig iron, used for stainless steel, to mixed hydroxide precipitate, or MHP. The vibrant green powder is quickly becoming a preferred feedstock for batteries.
MHP contains both very high-purity nickel and a small quantity of cobalt. Thanks to MHP, Benchmark predicts that by 2030, Indonesia will produce 80,000 tons of cobalt—roughly 20 percent of global production.
Indonesia now has three plants capable of producing 164,000 metric tons of MHP yearly. Some 26 more have been proposed. All—bar three scheduled to open 2026—involve Chinese companies.
The vast majority of MHP produced also seems to be sold—possibly at knockdown prices—to Chinese companies. Intriguingly, the Chinese nickel ore trader Lygend Resources & Technology Co. seems to be the main client of Indonesia’s Harita Nickel and is carrying out a joint venture with Harita at the Halmahera Persada Lygend plant that processes ore into MHP.
In 2021, Jessica Roberts, the head of forecasting at Benchmark, speculated that the global nickel market might split with a well-supplied China and the rest of the world facing shortages.
Multiple people close to the Indonesian government insist that it would like to diversify in this regard. The country practices careful neutrality in international affairs. Balancing Chinese investment with investment from other sources would fit. Indeed, the Indonesian government has publicly been courting companies such as Volkswagen and Tesla.
However, Western companies looking to enter Indonesia face significant barriers. Mining industry professionals regularly rank Indonesia as one of the worst places to do business, according to annual surveys by the Fraser Institute.
“Many Indonesians believe that foreign investors are here to pillage the country’s natural resources,” said Bill Sullivan, a senior foreign counsel with Christian Teo & Partners, a Jakarta-based law firm, who concentrates on Indonesian mining.
Onerous legal requirements change unpredictably with the political winds. Indonesian courts also almost invariably favor local parties. Many Western miners left Indonesia altogether in the late 2010s.
Meanwhile, Chinese companies, Sullivan said, “are often much less concerned about compliance and are usually much more comfortable operating in opaque and uncertain regulatory environments such as one finds in Indonesia.” Their links to the Chinese state and Indonesia’s cautious attitude toward China might also help.
Western companies looking to enter—or reenter—Indonesia face the daunting task of building relationships from scratch. “Getting to understand the dynamics of the industry, but also the politics of the industry, that takes time,” said Chris Gower, the CEO of Altilium Group, which advocates a less polluting nickel refining process.
Some Western companies are nonetheless looking for ways in, but “they don’t really want to do it with Chinese companies,” Gower said. Americans are apparently particularly nervous.
Yet securing MHP without Chinese technological know-how looks difficult. Converting Indonesia’s low-grade laterite ores into MHP uses a process called high-pressure acid leaching, or HPAL.
Ore is poured with sulfuric acid into autoclaves—huge titanium pressure cookers. It is then subject to temperatures of around 255 degrees Celsius (491 degrees Fahrenheit) and pressures of roughly 4,500 kilopascals, equivalent to being 450 meters (1,476 feet) underwater.
HPAL has been in use since 1961, but companies have long struggled to master the process. Many plants failed to meet production targets.
Now, Chinese companies seem to have cracked the code. Since 2021, they have been involved in building and operating all of Indonesia’s HPAL plants, each of which was built quickly, on budget, and produces reliably. Better designs developed by China ENFI Engineering Corp., a subsidiary of the state-owned China Metallurgical Group Corp., are apparently key.
Finally, environmental issues could deter Western consumers and investors alike. HPAL produces huge amounts of toxic waste. Storing it safely is challenging, especially in tropical climates.
Adding to the headache, well over half of Indonesia’s electricity is generated by burning coal. Given the energy intensity of HPAL, the nickel and cobalt needed for clean cars come with a big carbon footprint.
The Indonesian government is working to assuage concerns. Investment laws are being reformed. Dumping mining waste in the ocean has been banned, and President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo recently promised to improve environmental monitoring of nickel mining. Decarbonization, long delayed, is also picking up steam.
But as these efforts get underway, U.S. efforts to tie decarbonization to domestic reindustrialization and competition with China have added new complications.
IRA subsidies for passenger electric vehicles, or EVs, are subject to strict sourcing requirements. A certain percentage of metals and battery components must be processed in the United States or free trade partner countries for the EVs to qualify.
In an era of growing U.S. worry about competition with Beijing, the IRA makes working with Chinese firms particularly tough. The “foreign entity of concern” rules also bar EVs from receiving subsidies if they are produced using critical minerals or battery components sourced from companies “owned by, controlled by, or subject to the jurisdiction or direction of” the Chinese government. It remains unclear how much—if any—involvement from Chinese companies operating outside China will be acceptable.
Ford may prove a vital bellwether. Last month, the U.S. car giant announced plans to invest in building a behemoth $4.5 billion HPAL plant in Pomalaa on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. The plant is expected to produce 120,000 metric tons of MHP every year.
Its choice of partners speaks volumes. One is PT Vale Indonesia, the Indonesian subsidiary of the Brazilian mining giant. The other is China’s Huayou Cobalt Co., which already operates one HPAL plant in northern Sulawesi.
PT Vale is a smart and unproblematic choice of partner. The company has a thoroughly Indonesianized management. It also has a good record on environmental, social, and corporate governance, attracting the praise of Jokowi. The Pomalaa plant is also designed to use hydropower.
Partnering with Huayou is much riskier. The firm, founded in 2002, pronounces on its website that it is “[r]ooted in China and making friends all over the world”—but features the politically necessary encomiums to the Chinese Communist Party prominently in its publicity materials. Ford might benefit from an overlooked loophole in the IRA that makes commercial vehicles—e.g. vans, trucks, etc.—eligible for subsidies without being subject to sourcing requirements. But the company is already under fire for partnering with another Chinese company, CATL, to produce batteries in the United States.
That they are taking another political risk shows the indispensability of Chinese suppliers. “There is no, in inverted commas, ‘Western’ MHP being produced in Indonesia at the moment,” Benchmark’s Fisher said.
Fisher does expect this will change, especially given the Indonesian government’s recent environmental commitments. Still, he added, “This isn’t a quick fix—it’s a mid-to-long-term story particularly when you think about switching to renewables.” For some time yet, companies scrambling for nickel may find that Chinese companies in Indonesia are the only game in town.

Helloo! If you're still taking coding questions, how did you enable the scrolling feature in the saves and settings? because mine sort of just goes out of the screen if it's too long.
And how did you create the popup menu that shows the tutorials etc?
SugarCube's UI dialog (which controls the look of any dialog boxes; this includes the Saves, Settings, and Restart popups, alongside any basic dialog boxes added to your game) automatically resizes to the viewport.
I actually didn't touch mine outside of aesthetic changes as I ran into some really weird problems when I tried to change the dimensions of the box. Have you done any major edits to the UI dialog CSS? Particularly with the height, width, and max-height and max-width properties?
If you haven't, you may need to poke deeper into your CSS to figure out what's going on. I recommend using the Inspect tool on your browser to target the dialog box and find out what is actually displaying (you can access it by right-clicking and selecting Inspect).
If that doesn't help, I'd ask the folks in the twine games subreddit. SugarCube's developer is around and there are also a ton of folks who have contributed to Twine in some way. They're usually pretty fast at helping people out!
EDIT: I Forgot that I DID Have This Problem and Here's How I Fixed It
I did have issues with the Saves dialog and the Settings dialog getting too long, which was primarily an issue on mobile. This is how I fixed it:

The default height is set to calc(100% - 2.1em). I decreased the percentage until I reached a point where everything fit correctly. Not sure if that's the right way to do that, but if it works, it works. 😂
How to Add a Popup Box
The tutorial popups are SugarCube's default Dialog API. There are a couple ways to trigger it; which way works best for you will depend on what's easiest for you and what works for your game's needs.
Method One
You can trigger a dialog box by adding this code to the passage where you want it to trigger:

There are two functions used by this code.
Dialog.setup - adds a title to your popup. If you don't want to have a title, leave this blank
Dialog.wiki - this populates the dialog with your desired text. You need to add the name of the passage you are referencing, otherwise it will result in an error. You then need to make that passage and add the text you want your popup to have.
This is the method I use for my tutorials. Because events in my game can occur in many different orders, players may encounter tutorials at different times. It's easier just to call the text of single passage using Dialog.wiki rather than typing it out each time (which is how Method 2 will do it).
Method Two
If you don't want to get weighed down in a lot of code or if you want to trigger a series of popups, you can use Chapel's Dialog API Macro set. This will let you run a popup with the <<dialog>> macro. Any text contained within the macro will be printed as a popup.

Ghosts Empire Online Spoiler Special final part...
Ben, Larry and Martha.
Martha notes Fanny’s character development. They are planning to show more of her soft side in series three.
Ben wants to hold back from the Captain’s death, partly because it’s not the most interesting thing about him. He’s very aware that the tone needs to be quite carefully balanced between comedy and genuinely heartfelt emotion and doesn’t want to get too “heavy” with the Captain’s storylines, while still injecting drama and focusing on why he is as he is. Larry says they knew very early on how Cap died, but some of the characters have not been worked out fully or have changed because they realized something else has more dramatic possibilities.
Episode 1 -
Larry makes the point that the ghosts are like toddlers “with their hands tied behind their backs” in that they can do very little for themselves and Alison now has a morning routine revolving around setting them up for their days. He felt they had to do a ghost hunter episode at some point because it was obvious and a reversal of series one’s “cynicism” about the existence of ghosts from the living characters.
Cap’s fitness obsession is in there in part because Ben is really into running but Larry points out that his own run through woods in episode five was harder on him than filming the Captain’s short jog was on Ben! Ben had a stunt coordinator to help him do a tiny jump onto a crash mat when he was leaping to save Lady Button from being seen. They all found this hilarious because it was such a minor stunt and they’d all done loads of falling over in Horrible Histories.
Episode 3 -
They talked about the level of explosion they needed to have to warrant the Captain’s concern about the buried secret (once we discovered it wasn’t wholly a metaphor) without it being something that would’ve killed everyone. Larry finds it funny that Ben was so into war films as a child that he immediately said “oh, you’d need a limpet mine!” (These are attached to ships to create holes below the waterline).
Captain’s viability as a character comes from his internal conflict over being gay. He thinks the Edwardian era until the 50s was probably harder for gay men than prior to that. He doesn’t elaborate on why, but seems to say there was something about that time period in particular.
(Ed: He doesn’t say why he thinks this. I speculated on a few ideas
1. Perhaps the late Victorian surge in the power of the national press and use of the camera reduced people’s sense of privacy and enabled people to be the subject of campaigns and notoriety, e.g Oscar Wilde.
2 Perhaps he meant the 1885 Labouchere Amendment to the criminal law that made “gross indecency” short of proven anal sex a crime as well. Prior to that the law on male homosexuality was from Tudor times and required evidence of anal penetration proven to a legal standard. Any other sexual or intimate act between men had been legal (albeit not necessarily socially accepted). The amendment meant anything that could be considered foreplay or “coming on” to someone was now illegal. No definition was provided in the Act, which made it easier, not harder, to prosecute.
3. The First World War and all that surrounded it led to the particular construction that can be summed up as “patriotism requires battle-readiness, which means skills and virtues of traditional masculinity which are predicated on heterosexuality.” This is a drastic simplification, of course.
Aaaannnd back to Ben...
He says he never expected the degree to which the Captain has been adopted as significant character that embodies how so many people feel. Larry says that he thinks this is because Cap is a character who is gay, not a gay character and the majority of his story is about his functioning as a personality. His personality affects how he processes being gay and how he processes many other things too, but it isn’t that being gay IS his personality. (Ed: This is so important! As a gay woman I really struggle with characters who are written as “scene” because often that does mean that their entire personality is their sexuality, which I find reductive and alienating. It’s also exhausting when people have this self-portrayal in real life.)
Larry says he thinks the Captain would never have “allowed himself the possibility” that he’s gay because what could he have done about it in his time with his personality and attitude to risk, etc. Ben says Cap’s sexuality has never been treated as a joke in itself.
Fanny has a sexual awakening over Mike that the host described as “going Benny Hill”. Martha can’t watch it because it’s too much. They had to edit it a bit because she went over the top.
Larry says Robin being a conspiracy theorist is because he has no frame of reference for any of the things being discussed so he just believes everything that auto plays on YouTube.
They have to check about swearing and sexual references with Compliance. Ben says it’s funny what they will have problems with and what will be fine. (He seems to say it seems to lack internal logic.) Larry thinks being a quite daft show with a lot of overt silliness helps them get away with e.g. Pat saying “bullshit.”
Martha and Larry love that Simon puts a word in when he is making a noise of exertion when he’s moving things. He’s done Shawaddywaddy, Nixon, and has moved on to footballers’ names. He ad libs them all. They realized that with the burglary episode Julian would have to do everything because otherwise the plot wouldn’t work but thought it’d be ok if they had him be overtly annoyed about it and showed him to be the work shy layabout he thinks poor people are.
Initially, in their first pitch, Julian was dressed in PVC with a ball gag etc and they realized (Ed: thank god!) that they just couldn’t put that on television, so suggested what had happened in a much more likely to be allowed on TV before midnight way.
The hitchhiker Alison meets gave them pause due to its bleakness. Larry says they kept it to remind the audience that ghosts are everywhere and it is a horror comedy. He likes to keep the tone shifting and keep things unexpected. They reference how eager Fanny was to help the burglars, in that she can’t bear to see people do a task badly.
Mary and Kitty work as a team because the actors get on together, plus Kitty is so naive and Mary is such a “wildcard” that “if they only have each other to keep themselves on track” it’ll all go wrong (Larry). They joke about Cap being excited to have a moment to fight off insurgents. Ben calls it “frontline stuff!” and notes that Cap is an appalling military leader “in the wrong job.” This is partly because of leaving those two to do an important job, but generally, too. (Show some respect, Willbond).
Kitty’s song for Music Club was going to be “Saturday Night” by Wigfield, but they couldn’t get clearance. Larry also mentions not being allowed “Come on Eileen.” It’s clearly affected them all very deeply!

 SafeCovid is a three-tier automated custody protocol on the Binance Smart Chain.

The Covid-19 pandemic is full of the unknown, from the nature of the disease to its broader social impact and everything in between. The past 15 months have often been more about a procession of things we don't really understand than some of the facts we can be sure of.
How does safeCOVID work?
You are a responsible person and believe in yourself. You trust your family to do the right thing too… But what about your neighbors? The guy at the checkout where you picked up a pack of gum? Your parents? Cousin? SafeCOVID teaches you a new set of skills, these are - making masks at a low price, wearing them properly, and washing your hands. Once you have worked out and shared with the people you live with, you are safe COVID level 1.
When you meet someone in person, you must insist that they show their safe COVID level. If they can't, or aren't wearing masks, you have to assume they are unsafe and politely practice social distancing. The current recommendation is 6 feet, or 2m. Please don't harass them, but encourage them to 'level up'. Every time you meet someone your level takes a hit, but not if you share your level first. stick together, the more similar your level becomes. The longer you stay at home, the higher your level. a somewhat comprehensive performance guide for the sims 3
what it says on the tin. i’m sticking everything under the cut to avoid clogging everyone’s dash because, hoo boy, this is a looong post
welcome to my kitchen, and hopefully i can help you get your game to run a bit better!
first, if you haven’t already, make sure to launch your game (i recommend just bg so it loads quickly) and check if you need to change your graphics settings. if you’re on windows and would like to play your game in windowed fullscreen: 
download and install this program (it’s safe, i promise)
open the program and you should get a notification that it’s running in your tray
with ts3 open (in it’s windowed mode), click on your tray and right click on the program’s icon, then select Add window
go back to ts3′s window and press F3 on your keyboard. you should get a notification that ts3 has been added to the program’s list, and you’re done!
you’ll also need an fps limiter to prevent the game from frying your video card. i use this one, set at 60fps. alternatively, you can download MATY’s fps limiter and place it in your game’s bin. (The Sims 3/Game/Bin)
is your game crashing on startup? check your DEP settings or try using 3booter.
some tips to help your game run better
have as few programs as possible running while ts3 is open.
run a 4gb patch on your game. download this, run the .exe, select the game’s executable (The Sims 3/Game/Bin/TS3W.exe for patch 1.69 or TS3.exe for patch 1.67), and click open. you’ll get a pop up saying it’s patched. please note that your computer needs to have over 2gb of RAM for this! delete cache files. the game will generate new ones every time you open the game, so make sure to delete the following files before running the game: CASPartCache, compositorCache, scriptCache, simCompositorCache, socialCache. these files are found in Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3.
if you’re on pc, delete your WoldCaches folder. not everyone will have this folder, and the game may also regenerate the folder. (mine didn’t regenerate the folder, but it’s happened to others)  DO NOT do this if you’re on mac!!!!
disable your FeaturedItems folder. this prevents the game from generating a fuckton of store thumbnails you’ll never look at. follow this tutorial or just set the folder to be read only.
turn off the following in your game settings: shop mode, interactive loading screens, and online features. i also recommend turning off story progression and memories and using mods to handle these instead.
edit your GraphicsRules.sgr. this will help your game load textures faster. (it also helps how fast your sims change their clothes!) do it yourself by following these tutorials ( 1 + 2 ) or download avian’s graphics fix (v1.69) (v1.67). i recommend doing the latter more than doing it yourself!
modding your game: a quick crash course
yeah, i know most people know how to download and install custom content + mods, but this is still good to give a read for managing your sims 3 cc!
first, you’ll need a mods folder because ts3 won’t generate one by itself. i recommend you download this framework and follow MTS’ guide to setting it up. it comes with a nifty little no intro video mod!
use the compressorizer redux. you can extract it wherever you’d like, just make sure to keep all its files in the same folder. this program is pretty self-explanatory, it compresses .package and .sims3pack files. to use it, click Add Files to List, select the folder with your files (you can do this multiple times), and click GO! now, just let it do its thing! it may take a while to process everything if you have big files, but you’ll get a pop up saying how many MBs you saved when it’s done. you can also use decrapify mode on .sims3packs (useful for store content!)
i recommend downloading Delphy’s Sims3Pack Extractor. i avoid using the game launcher to manage my cc at all costs, and this tool is useful for extracting .package files from .sims3pack files. follow this tutorial to use it!
Delphy’s Dashboard Tool is also useful for finding any broken, duplicate, or conflicting cc. i don’t recommend using the fix all problems option, do it yourself instead to make sure you don’t delete anything you want to keep.
renaming cc files can also help with lag. follow this tutorial!
you can also merge your package files to help with lag and load times using this tutorial. i don’t do this personally, but my mods folder is pretty small too.
note: the game launcher can only load 500 .sims3pack files at a time. only use the launcher to install absolutely necessary items!
to help reduce lag and load times, you can delete everything in your DCBackup folder (Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/DCBackup) EXCEPT for ccmerged.package. DO NOT delete ccmerged, it has all the cc installed through the launcher. (ps. you can safely use the compressorizer to compress your ccmerged file!)
final tip: try to control the amount of cc you have installed. i’ve noticed that the game takes a lot longer to load when my mods folder starts to reach a Gb. my mods folder is currently 368Mb, and it takes around 5 minutes to load any saves.
helpful mods for your game
the ETERNAL must have: nraas’ mastercontroller. you’ll need this to run all nraas mods! also be sure to grab overwatch and errortrap while you’re at it! these catch and clean any errors that happen in your game. i also recommend register and traffic.
no (or fewer) auto memories is SUPER useful for controlling memories in the game and helps with game performance. it’s super customizable!
ellacharmed’s world fixes. not really a traditional mod, but this helps with routing and camera control! note: don’t use these on preexisting saves! some lots have been moved and there will be little gaps in the world with preexisting saves.
routing fixes for schools + other lots. be sure to use nraas to reset your school lot after installing!
interaction on sloped terrain. this is mostly just a sanity saver, but very useful!
finally, i recommend grabbing awesome mod. it has a bunch of fixes and is very customizable!
reducing save game bloat
a.k.a. the steps i go through to make sure that my game loads relatively fast and runs with minimal lag. 
if i’ve taken any screenshots the last time i played the game, i move those out of ts3′s screenshots folder and into a separate folder.
i delete all generated cache files. see the tips section above for more info
i run kuree’s save cleaner on the save i’m planning on playing. if the latest version (2.1) doesn’t open/work, try using v1.1 instead. you can also do this manually, though i don’t recommend it for the sake of your sanity.
every couple of in-game weeks in a save i run a total reset on the world i’m playing in. this is done through nraas mastercontroller. click on your city hall from map view>nraas>mastercontroller>total reset
tip: to help prevent your saves from corrupting, use save as and keep multiple versions of your save. for example, i have 3 versions of my lepacy save. this way, if a save does corrupt, you have a backup! 
misc. ways to reduce lag
don’t run the game with all packs enabled. it’s going to murder your game. only run with packs you know you’ll use. you can also refer to this masterpost for bgc items if you only want certain items from a pack.
don’t keep tons of stuff in your sim’s inventory. use the fridge to keep fish and harvestables instead.
if your sim has the collection helper LTR in their inventory, make sure you have it set to none when you’re not using it.
i recommend downloading simborg’s CAS hiders, ILTS’ CAS Rehaul, and/or sweetdevil-sims’ CAS hiders to reduce CAS load times.
change CAS’ catalogs to show in compact form using nraas mastercontroller. select a sim>nraas>mastercontroller>settings>CAS and look for show in compact form options and set each to true
nona’s no limos mod can help nraas overwatch’s nightly clean up
make sure to turn off any build/buy cheats you activated when you go back into live mode. (even if it’s just to save)
if you’re using CAS a lot in a play session, it’s a good idea to quit to desktop and reload the game every once in a while
try to avoid saving presets and CASt swatches
disconnect from the internet. i don’t do this often because i usually have spotify or carl’s sims 3 guide open alongside ts3.

Hi there! I’m attempting a rotational game of my own, since I love yours so much, but I’ve run into some issues, and I hope you can help me :( I have 3 issues: 1) Babies and Toddlers have been aging up regardless of my settings. I have the game set to only Auto-Age the Active Household and Unplayed, yet other played households will have babies and toddlers aging up... Is there a setting in MCCc I need to change? (Other questions in other asks)

Sorry it took me a little time to reply I haven't been in game in a hot minute and didn't remember where everything was. H’okay so I have a few questions/things you can look into and also some details on my own settings that might be the difference so:
A. All of these households are ones you’ve actually been into and played yes? not just set them up in a home from the world screen and then moved on, you actually hit the play button and loaded in like you were going to play them? Just got to be sure. Even if you’re not to them yet in rotation I find that doing this extra step and ensuring that all of them are played is the best way to ensure MCCC doesnt mess with them without you wanting them to.
B. Check your settings in the following menus for MCCC from a computer:
MC pregnancy>Pregnant sim selection>bypass played households> set to “[enabled]”
Im sure you’ve checked this but doesnt hurt to try again! It might also help to enable the bypass active sim romances as well.
MC pregnancy>Pregnant sim selection>pregnancy percentage 
MC pregnancy>Pregnant sim selection> days to run checks
I would look at your pregnancy percentage as it might be too high, and too many days it runs checks to help keep the numbers down until you can get things under control.  
MC pregnancy>adoption settings>“opposite sex adoption percent” and “same sex adoption percent”
 I would also turn down the adoption percent just to be sure its also not happening too often. 
MC pregnancy>Pregnant sim selection> married only pregnancies
MC pregnancy>Partner sim selection> enforce family
MC pregnancy>Partner sim selection> allow affairs percentage
 I also have mine set to married only pregnancies, enforce families and to not allow affairs. 
MC pregnancy>Partner sim selection> occupancy preference
Additionally I have the partner sim selection set to homeless sims only in the “occupancy preferance...” menu(but this only works if you dont have any unplayed sims living in houses). 
C. You might have to turn off “Auto Age (Unplayed Sims)” as I find in rotational saves the unplayed households age much faster than the rest of your played sims. I counteract this with only having this setting checked in the first week of the first household in rotation. That could at least help you eliminate too much of the baby aging until you can get to those households or at least slow it down.
Unfortunately that’s all I have as far as help so if you still cant get MCCC to behave it might be helpful for you to check out deaderpool’s MCCC discord. They have folks there that love to help with this kind of thing.

Tomb Raider III is divided into five mini-adventures. Does each one have a different plot and if so, are these linked by an overall story?
Adrian Smith:
I guess you could call them mini-adventures: Lara's looking for four artefacts this time so each location is almost a separate adventure. She starts off in India. She believes she's looking for a single artefact but at the end of this location she discovers that there are another three to find. So after India she can go to the South Pacific, London or Nevada in any order, before playing the final location: Antarctica. The locations are linked by a story that is brought to its conclusion in Antarctica.

What's the plot this time?
Adrian Smith:
I can't say too much, but the four artefacts that Lara is searching for were originally discovered lying round a large meteorite that crashed to earth millions of years ago. The collision separated this point of impact from the mainland, creating a volcanic island towards the north of Antarctica. When the meteorite impacted, the area became impregnated with foreign matter ­ this matter had powerful properties and slowly released a kind of radiation that accelerated growth and evolution in both creatures and plants... but not without side effects. As Antarctica iced over, the basin of the island remained an oasis of life.
The first peoples to discover the island were Polynesians, and when one tribe discovered the abundance of life there, they decided to stay. Deep within the dormant volcano, they found the core of the meteorite ­ magically suspended it seemed, above the rock. (The material was in fact magnetic and was being repelled by the magma below.) The settlers built an altar round the meteorite and used four smaller pieces of the meteorite to create a device to trap and save the precious radiation.
Years later, as explorers were charting Antarctica, they discovered the remains of the island. Fresh animal tracks in the snow, led them to the crumbling remains of the settlement. When the explorers reached the altar, they looted the four artefacts, and as they left, one of the men was attacked and killed by a mutant beast. The others fled in terror. Only one survived to record the story...
Back in the present day, a scientific research company hits sculpted rock as it blows a wall of ice in the Antarctic and discovers an unknown material and the body of the savaged explorer. On the explorer's tombstone are the details of the boat on which he sailed. Using this information, the research company sets about searching for the artefacts.
Lara, meanwhile, is in India searching for one of these artefacts herself, unaware of its true history. And so the adventure begins.
GameSpot UK:
What are the locations like? We've seen the London screens. Is running round the capital as challenging as raiding a tomb?
Adrian Smith:
The locations are quite diverse. London features a night-time rooftop level ­ from there Lara drops into some of the buildings, including an eerie waxworks museum and the Natural History Museum. Eventually she finds her way to St Paul's, and from there into the sewers (for which Lara has an underwater propulsion unit, à la James Bond), deserted tube stations and Masonic halls. The level of detail in Tomb Raider III enables us to create really atmospheric locations.
Other locations include: Nevada (Area 51 and the desert), The South Pacific (very lush, featuring a coastal level, island in terior and a white water level!), India (jungle locations and temples), and Antarctica (where all is not as it seems!).
GameSpot UK:
What sort of enemies will Lara face this time?
Adrian Smith:
Well, they'll all have a far higher level of AI than previously encountered since we have 'Dr Tom', the AI specialist working with us on Tomb Raider III. Nearly all the enemies are new and include snakes, hyenas, monkeys, dragons, huskies, whales, piranhas and jellyfish, plus a whole lot more.
Lara will be able to avoid some of her human enemies by ducking and crawling to avoid their line of sight, but once they see her, they'll raise the alarm and the chase will really be on. Some of the animal enemies may run away from Lara when initially approached, but if she follows them, she may be led to danger. Many of the enemies will also work in groups to cut Lara off, so she'll have to work out ways to distract them in order to proceed. And watch out for the monkeys ­ they love to run away with Lara's precious medipacks!
GameSpot UK:
Lara's an athletic lass. Does she have any new moves this time round?
Adrian Smith:
The main new moves include the duck, crawl, monkey swing and dash. Since Lara is now able to crawl in narrow spaces and tunnels, the exploration element of the game has really been opened up. The duck allows Lara to quickly avoid gunfire ­ she can also shoot while in the duck position so combat now becomes more strategic. The hand-over-hand monkey swing can be used to traverse areas that Lara is unable to cross on foot, and the dash allows Lara to sprint to safety when she needs to make a swift escape. Lara can also add a dive to her new dash move. This is particularly useful for time-based traps where she'll have to dash and dive through closing doors.
GameSpot UK:
Fashion fans want to know what Lara is wearing this season? Is brown still the new black?
Adrian Smith:
Since Lara is so practical, she needs suitable outfits for each location. These include white and grey camouflage trousers and jacket for the Antarctic, a black cat-suit for London, combat trousers for Nevada and a crop top for the hot South Pacific locations.
GameSpot UK:
What about those lovely boy toys ­ vehicles and guns?
Adrian Smith:
Lara does indeed have some new vehicles to help her get around. A couple of the levels will rely solely on the use of vehicles to complete them successfully: Lara will be white-water rafting in a kayak and speeding down mines in a rail cart. Other vehicles include a James Bond-style underwater propulsion unit and a quad bike... but I don't want to give any more than that away right now!
As for the weapons, some of Lara's new items include an automatic rifle, rocket launcher and desert eagle guns.
GameSpot UK:
Are there any changes to the combat? Does Lara have to aim now or does she auto-aim as before?
Adrian Smith:
It's basically the same system, but a couple of the weapons will require Lara to aim herself.
GameSpot UK:
What improvements have been made to the game engine and graphics on Tomb Raider III?
Adrian Smith:
Firstly there's a new structure for the order of gameplay: Tomb Raider III contains five separate locations which link together, but after completing the first location the following three can be played in any order, before the final location closes the game. Whereas Tomb Raider I and II contained 15 levels, Tomb Raider III contains 20, making it a considerably larger game. The levels themselves are far less linear than before and the player will have a choice of at least two routes to complete each one. The routes will vary in difficulty: taking the harder route will reward the player with more pick-ups, whereas the easier routes will be quicker and less complicated. To add further variety to the gameplay, the save-game system offers an easy and a hard option.
The easy option allows the player to save the game anywhere, as in Tomb Raider II. The harder option will use the save-game crystals that featured in Tomb Raider I, but this time Lara can either use the save-game crystals immediately, or store them in her inventory for use later on.
Tomb Raider III's level editing system has undergone an extensive redesign: our programmers use the level editor tool to create the rooms that, when linked together, make up each level. Tomb Raider and Tomb Raider II used a grid system to create the levels ­ this meant that the level architecture that Lara was able to interact with consisted of a series of blocks of different heights and dimensions. Tomb Raider III's system now incorporates triangles. This means that we can now achieve greater detail such as very realistic organic surfaces, and smoother shore-lines.
We're also able to create more complex architectural structures such as domes, arches and vaulted ceilings.
Tomb Raider III's game engine offers more speed than the first two games, and handles a greater amount of detail. The water in the third game is now transparent, reflective and rippling. When Lara swims or wades through the water, she'll leave a wake behind her. If she fires a weapon into the water, you'll see a new underwater explosion effect. Also, if she's standing in the water and firing a weapon, you'll see the empty shells actually drop into the water and sink to the bottom.
Other effects include semi-transparencies such as mist, smoke and shafts of light. And weather effects such as snow, wind and rain are now included ­ all of which give the game a deeper atmosphere and added realism.
We also have more realistic flames and explosions. When Lara fires a weapon, you'll even see smoke from the barrel of her gun. Lara now leaves footprints and you'll also hear sound effects as she runs across different surfaces.

StrangerVille Survival Challenge
TOS
This challenge is loosely inspired by Pinstar's Apocalypse Challenge; however, my challenge is more focused on the StrangerVille story and designed to make use of much of StrangerVille's content, so I think it's different enough from Pinstar's challenge to stand on its own.

Story
The Mother has utterly destroyed StrangerVille. There is nothing left but abandoned buildings and a town overrun with toxic plants. Most of the inhabitants have fled in terror, but the few who remain are infected... and highly contagious, but your Sim knows they can't be the only survivor who is still healthy. Others are out there somewhere. Your Sim must find a way to live in this dangerous new world and look for other survivors.
Objective
Start with nothing but an empty plot of land and a desire to survive. Build a fully self-sustainable fallout shelter and gather up a colony of fellow survivors who will help you grow your base. The challenge ends when you have a colony of 8 Sims and have built a finished, self-sustainable shelter that can accommodate your entire colony. Each member of the colony must be assigned a role and be masters of their role's skills.
Getting Started
Reach Act 3 of the StrangerVille Mystery story any way you want with a random, disposable Sim. I highly recommend downloading TwistedMexi's All Cheats Unlocked mod and using the command narrative.start_narrative narrative_strangetown_act3 in the cheat console to just set the story to Act 3 immediately. If you don't want to use mods, then just get to Act 3 using as many cheats as you like with this random Sim. The only purpose of this is to enable the crazy weather for the challenge.
Make a young adult Sim in CAS. This Sim can have any appearance, gender customisations, traits, aspiration, voice, and walk style you want. You may use any CC you like on them that doesn't affect gameplay in any way.
You may use the in-game personality quiz to determine your Sim’s starting skills and traits, but you must quit any career it assigns you as soon as you start playing and you must still remove all your starting funds.
If Cats & Dogs is installed, you may give your Sim one pet. Only one. The pet can be a cat or a dog of any breed/mix, and have any appearance and traits you want.
Move your household into any bulldozed, empty lot in StrangerVille.
Open the cheat console with CTRL + SHIFT + C and type in testingcheats true, followed by money 0. Then type in testingcheats false.
Overall Rules
No mods that give you an unfair advantage in the challenge. Mods that make any aspect of the game easier for your Sim or help your Sim in any way in the challenge are not allowed.
No cheats of any kind except for bb.moveobjects on for creative building purposes. Any cheats the challenge specifically instructs you to use are okay, but only when the challenge specifies it. For example, you can use the money cheat only to take away all your Sim's money at the beginning of the challenge. You can't use the money cheat again after that.
Lifespans must be set to Normal with Auto-Aging On for all Sims. Sims must be allowed to age naturally. No early birthdays. No prolonging life/preventing death/resurrecting dead Sims.
No careers! No rabbithole careers. No active careers. No work from home careers. No custom careers. No careers of any kind. Period. The epidemic in StrangerVille has caused the job market to collapse. Sims must make money by selling items they've crafted, harvested, or collected.
No member of your household can leave StrangerVille. All roads going in and out are blocked off and the bizarre weather has made travel too dangerous. Sims may travel to other lots in StrangerVille but cannot use any forbidden luxuries on those lots (toilets, showers, etc). Assume all appliances and tech are broken on these lots.
The cell phone is forbidden. Autonomous phone interactions can be cancelled without penalty, but you cannot use the phone for any reason. Cell towers have been knocked out, leaving phones out of service.
You may purchase in-game rewards with satisfaction points you earned properly without cheats, but Potions of Youth are off-limits. You are limited to one Money Tree. You may not exploit the glitch to get more Money Tree Seeds.
Shelter
With harmful airborne spores everywhere, its only a matter of time before your Sim breathes in so much of it that they, too, succumb to this terrible illness. It's not safe to be outdoors for long periods of time and infected Sims roam the streets at night. The weather has knocked out power lines and the water tower, severely limiting your Sim's access to electricity and indoor plumbing.
As soon as you are on your empty lot with $0, time starts ticking. You have exactly 24 hours to build an underground shelter that is protected from the elements, otherwise you fail the challenge. If you started a new save file, this should be exactly 8:00AM the following morning.
Your shelter must be entirely underground and protected from the harsh StrangerVille weather (so a door separating your shelter from the outside). The shelter does not need to have anything in it. It does not need wall coverings or flooring. It doesn't even need to be more than a 1x1 square. As long as your Sim has somewhere they can stand that is completely underground and protected from the elements, you've passed the first 24 hours. (HINT: Fishing in Shady Acres can be both profitable and an easy source of food early on in the challenge).
After the first 24 hours, all Sims in your household have a strict 9pm curfew. All Sims must be inside the shelter and remain in the shelter from 9pm to 7am every night for their own safety.
You can only have one item that uses electricity in each room of your shelter. Lights must be candles, oil lamps, or the DIY wall light that came with StrangerVille.
Your shelter is lacking in indoor plumbing. You may only have three “plumbing” items in your entire shelter. You are limited to:
Rustic basin sinks
WooHoo bushes (GT or JA – not subject to the plumbing item limit)
Portable camping shower (OR)
DIY shower (SV)
The homemade toilet and bath craftable on the workbench
Food
The Mother's infection doesn't seem to have affected the water or the fish in the town, but nothing grown on land outdoors is safe to eat. It's all been contaminated by airborne spores. The epidemic has caused all the local shops to shut down, making grocery shopping a thing of the past. Your Sim has no choice but to find a way to grow their own produce underground.
Sims may not eat anything they do not have all the ingredients for. 
Sims may not eat any meals that do not require any ingredients. All meals must require at least one ingredient.  The only exception to this is the birthday cake. Sims may cook and eat birthday cakes, but only for the purpose of celebrating a birthday. A Sim must age up using the cake.
Your Sim may not grow anything above ground, not even if it's indoors. All food must be grown underground in the shelter to protect them from contamination. (HINT: You need medium wall height to be able to grow trees underground)
Sims may catch and eat fish that they've caught.
Sims may not purchase, plant, grow, harvest, touch, eat, or carry bizarre fruit. No bizarre fruit may ever come into contact with your Sims or be brought into the shelter. No Sim may ever interact with a bizarre plant. If any Sim in your household comes into contact with a bizarre plant or bizarre fruit, they must be killed off or kicked out immediately.
Grow Your Colony
Once your Sim has established a proper shelter and a way to safely grow their own produce, it's time to start thinking bigger. Surely your Sim can't be the only healthy person left in StrangerVille. There must be others like them out there somewhere, hiding, struggling to survive. Wouldn't it be nice to band together and form a colony of survivalists? If they could just find them in the sea of infected Sims wandering around...
No Sim in your household may interact with an infected/possessed Sim. If a Sim in your household autonomously interacts with an infected/possessed Sim, they must be immediately killed off or kicked out of the household in order to protect the rest of the colony. This applies to all Sims regardless of age or relation to any other Sims in the household.
If your starting Sim interacts with an infected/possessed Sim, they must also leave the colony. The role of Leader then gets passed to another Sim in the colony. This is the only exception to the rule about not changing roles in the next section. If your starting Sim is the only Sim in the colony, you fail the challenge.
Your Sim cannot add the first new member of the colony until the shelter functions like a proper “home.” It must have:
A method of bathing and using the bathroom inside the shelter
A method of cooking and storing food inside the shelter
Enough seating for at least two Sims
At least one garden planter
At least one fun item
Two beds. If your Sim and the new colony member have a suitably high relationship, you may have one double bed, instead.
You cannot add a new colony member to the household until there is a bed for them inside the shelter.
New colony members may be added to the shelter either by inviting existing Sims to move into the household or by having natural-born children within the household.
You cannot invite a Sim to join your colony until your Sim is Good Friends with them.
No new colony member can bring any money with them when they move in. Use the money cheat to remove any funds they bring with them.
Colony Roles
In order for your colony to thrive, you're going to need some organization and structure. As the leader of your colony, you'll be assigning each new member of your colony a vital role. That Sim will dedicate their lives to fulfilling their assigned role for the benefit of the colony. There are lots of things to be done to keep the colony running smoothly and lots of Sims needed to perform those tasks. If everyone works together, the colony will stay strong in the face of this terrible tragedy.
When a new Sim joins the colony, assign them a role from the list below. That Sim must master the skill linked to their role. You cannot change a Sim's role after it's been assigned so think carefully. If a Sim masters a skill for a different role, it won't count towards the challenge. The Sim must master the skill that matches their role.
Sims aren't restricted to only performing duties within their role, but try your best to keep everyone as focused on their role as possible. It helps build their skill faster.
While toddlers and children cannot officially take on a role and perform their role’s duties, they must be prepped to accept their assigned role when they become teens. They must master the toddler and child skill on the list linked to their future role. A toddler or child who does not master their role’s skill before they age up is a challenge fail.
If you started with a pet in the household and therefore cannot fulfill all 8 roles, the pet automatically takes the role of Spy. The pet does not need to do anything special to fulfill this role. If the pet dies before the end of the challenge, you must add a Sim to the colony to become your Spy.

Leader
Your starting Sim. As the leader of a colony, your Sim is responsible for rallying everyone together and keeping morale high.
Adult Skill: Charisma Child Skill: N/A Toddler Skill: N/A
Farmer
This Sim is responsible for growing and harvesting fresh produce in the underground greenhouse to help keep everyone fed.
Adult Skill: Gardening Child Skill: Mental Toddler Skill: Thinking
Hunter 
The colony needs a source of protein to keep fit and strong. This Sim’s duty is to bring back freshly caught fish to the colony to be prepared, cooked, and eaten.
Adult Skill: Fishing Child Skill: Mental Toddler Skill: Thinking
Carpenter
This Sim’s duties involve building and repairing things around the shelter and keeping all the nuts and gears in tip top shape.
Adult Skill: Handiness Child Skill: Motor Toddler Skill: Movement
Chef
This Sim is responsible for cooking all the fresh produce and fish that the farmer and hunter provides in order to feed the colony.
Adult Skill: Cooking Child Skill: Creativity Toddler Skill: Imagination
Soldier
It’s the soldier’s job to protect the colony from threats and invasions. They must always be on their guard to defend against infected Sims and government agents with unsavoury motives.

This Sim manages any tech that the shelter has and comes up with ideas for new inventions that can help the colony.

Completing The Challenge
When you have built up a large colony living in harmony in a fully self-sustainable bunker that can accommodate everyone living there, you’ll know your work is done. Rest easy knowing you and your colony will be safe in StrangerVille for many years to come.
To complete the challenge, the following objectives must be met:
You must have a colony of 8 Sims (or 7 Sims and 1 pet)
Each colony member must be teens or older and have the skills linked to their role mastered (including toddler and child skills, if applicable)
Your shelter must have a bed for each member of the colony
Your shelter must have an underground greenhouse with at least three large planter boxes
Your shelter must have indoor bathroom facilities that comply with the challenge’s plumbing limitations
Your shelter must have a listening station for your Spy and Scientist
Your shelter must have a B64 Training Bot for your Soldier
Your shelter must have a means of cooking and storing produce and fish indoors
The perimeter of your lot must be closed off with tall fencing and a gate that is kept locked to everyone but your household
Your shelter must have at least three items purchased from the Curio Shop (excluding bizarre fruit)

BABYz, it’s almost time and Yongguk’s first solo album will be released! I for one am super excited as it’s literally a dream come true for me personally! Are you as excited as I am? Only 5 more days to go!!
I am sure Yongguk will upload the MV to “Hikikomori” to his Youtube channel (or possibly to Consentmedia’s if they already have one) – and this is where we (you & me!) come in!
We all know that sadly our fandom (BABYz/B.A.P’s) is not as big as it used to be…so there is not all that much attention on what the guys are doing. Which means we will have to work hard to get them the recognition they deserve!
Yongguk’s doing his best to establish his solo career here (any maybe lay groundwork for when B.A.P comes back?!) so let’s support him as best we can!
THE IMPORTANCE OF YOUTUBE VIEWS
YouTube views are extremely important. As we know, Korean music shows count them to decide weekly winners. The views will determine how popular the group/artist is internationally and are converted to points together with SNS popularity. The artist also gets paid depending on the number of views/clicks – and we all know that Yongguk probably paid for the production of his album all by himself, so he depends on the success of it! More views also mean the video will get featured more often on the start page and/or next to relevant/related videos which will increase his popularity & thus the chance of more views and maybe even new fans!
OUR GOAL
2 Million in 24 hours
Every view counts! Now, how do we increase the views successfully?
Sadly, Youtube has caught on to how we increased views in the past, so simply having the video on loop (and possible muted) won’t work anymore. Here are the steps / different methods to make our views count:
Computor/Laptop
1. Please use a browser that uses addons/extensions (Chrome, Firefox etc)
2. Download extensions for Auto Reload (or Auto Refresh), Auto HD and Adblock and enable them
3. For Auto HD, the quality should be 720p or more to guarantee a view, as for Auto Reload, set it to 5 min (Or 4 min 30 sec if you have a fast internet)
4. Disable Autoplay on youtube and play the MV
5. Make sure to delete your cookies and history before rewatching to increase views!
6. Use a VPN to hide your ip address so that your ip isn't marked as spam!
Android/iPhone
1.    Open youtube and play the Music Video.
2.    After it ends, close the video and go to settings.
3.    From settings, go to the privacy section and delete your watch history.
4.    Rewatch the mv and repeat step 1-2
Creating a playlist
1. If you want to create a Playlist, create one with the official MV and his official performances (at least 3 videos) from your YouTube account. MAKE SURE YOU SET THE PLAYLIST IN PUBLIC.
- Get the link and log out from your account.
- Open an incognito tab and load your Playlist.
- Set the Playlist on autoplay.
REMEMBER TO CLEAR HISTORY AND DELETE COOKIES EVERY ONCE IN AWHILE
 2. Loop a Playlist on incognito in one window, use auto refresh on another window and occasionally watch the MV after another video on the third window.
 3. Use as many streaming devices as you can - Computer, ipad/tablets, phone and use the Playlist method.
IMPORTANT ADVICE FOR STREAMING
1. Don’t stream in incognito mode (if it’s not a playlist!) as that wouldn’t increase views and would be counted as spam!
2. Don’t stream the video by putting it on loop (for browsers) as it will not increase views! Loop will work if you have it on a playlist!!
3. Don’t pause or increase/decrease the speed of the music video! You need to be logged in as well!
4. If you’re not using an adblock watch out for ads because they make sure your view is being counted!
5. Some browsers do need to be logged out and in to stream but I haven’t had a problem streaming the way I mentioned!
6. You can always try the “easy” version by logging out, deleting history and logging back in to stream!
7. The volume has to be at 50% or higher. If you intended to just have it play in the background, mute your pc/speakers, not youtube itself or use headphones (you don`t actually have to wear them 😉 ).
8. Watch at least 2-3 videos before rewatching “Hikikomori” as there has to be a gap for the views to be counted, otherwise it will be counted as spam and deleted. You could always watch one of Yongguk’s other MVs such as “Yamazaki” or “Drunkenness” to support him further!
9. YouTube is trying to get rid of low-quality playback, they analyze a collection of views to distinguish those that are real compared to those that are 'robot-like'. So with that in mind, show YouTube that you are human, stream in high-quality.
10. Remember to clear your cookies every 9 – 15 views or else Youtube will probably catch on to what you’re doing!
11. Like, comment & share the MV: Share the link on all your social media accounts (Twitter, fb, Tumblr, etc.), clicks from shared links will count as views. Ask all your friends!!! THE MORE VIEWS AND COMMENTS AN MV HAS, THE MORE IT IS SUGGESTED ON EVERY OTHER KPOP MVS.
That’s it! I know it sounds like a lot of work but I promise it isn`t as difficult as it sounds at first. 😊
Please keep in mind that Yongguk is working very hard to bring something awesome to us again and that he tends to work too much and too long because he wants it to be perfect for us. Show him how much we appreciate and love him for it! Please also remember the topic of “Hikikomori”. Yongguk is putting himself out there to address the issue and it seriously hits close to home. Not only for himself but to many of us I imagine. That takes a lot of courage and bravery, so please show him how much we respect him for it!

UNIT EIGHT- AUDIENCE/VISIBILITY- SLSL: REFERENCES: HOW TO TELL STORIES
There are millions of ways to tell a y. For this project we are being encouraged to think about the specific mechanics of how you can tell a story- broadening the perspective of my horizon as an illustrator. I have taken most of the artists given in the brief document to explore some of the more ‘event’ friendly ways of telling a story. 
Janette Paris- ANIMATION AND STRIP COMIC

Janette Paris creates bright and punching strip comics and animations based in Peckham. Although I am not a big fan of the style of her work, I appreciate how effective this medium is at telling a story concisely. 
The Paper Cinema- PAPER ANIMATION

This was my favourite reference artist given by the brief. The Paper Cinema is a company who make films, mostly of classics or Shakespeare, using paper. the paper is moved freely in front of the camera, not using stop motion, and cleverly manipulated to tell the story. I absolutely love the aesthetic of this piece and am inspired by it to possibly make a film.

Manga Kamishibai- AN ILLUSTRATED ‘SLIDESHOW’

Kamishibai (Japanese: 紙芝居, "paper play") is a form of Japanese street theatre and storytelling that was popular during the Depression of the 1930s and the post-war period in Japan. 
Kamishibai was told by a kamishibaiya ("kamishibai narrator") who travelled to street corners with sets of illustrated boards that they placed in a miniature stage-like device and narrated the story by changing each image. 
I like the idea of this as an almost hand- illustrated television. I think this style of storytelling would work well at the event, however you have to have the confidence to embody the role of narrator, which I unfortunately cannot do. 
Samizdat- SELF PUBLISHED BOOKS/PERIODICALS

Samizdat ("self-publishing")  in which individuals reproduced censored and underground publications by hand and passed the documents from reader to reader. This grassroots practice to evade official Soviet censorship was fraught with danger, as harsh punishments were meted out to people caught possessing or copying censored materials. Vladimir Bukovsky summarized it as follows: "Samizdat: I write it myself, edit it myself, censor it myself, publish it myself, distribute it myself, and spend time in prison for it myself."
This is an interesting format of storytelling because it requires the use of reproduction through multiple people, perhaps producing a sort of Chinese whispers style warping of the final document. I like the idea of the story evolving and being told through reproductions. However, I don’t think any of the stories I have collected from the ice rink are really appropriate for this form of storytelling. 
Broadsides- NEWSPAPER STYLE

Elizabethan poetry ‘ballads’ where produced on large sheets in the paper called ‘broadsides’. they were accompanied by gorgeously stylised illustrations. I think this is an interesting way to possibly tell a story- perhaps even in ballad form! however I’m not sure how good this would be for an event as it isn’t very interactive. 
Theatre- PERFORMANCE ART

Long has the art of theatre been used to tell stories. Looking into it, I could use multiple elements of theatre, without using theatre itself, to tell stories, for example the sets, staging and costumes, tell stories for themselves. 
Spoken Word/ Rap songs- MUSIC AS A WAY TO TELL STORIES
The Liverpool Poets are a number of influential 1960s poets from Liverpool, England, influenced by 1950s Beat poetry. They were involved in the 1960s Liverpool scene that gave rise to The Beatles.
Their work is characterised by its directness of expression, simplicity of language, suitability for live performance and concern for contemporary subjects and references. There is often humour, but the full range of human experience and emotion is addressed.
ANOTHER EXAMPLE: 
Pussy Riot is a Russian feminist protest punk rock group based in Moscow. Founded in August 2011, it has had a variable membership of approximately 11 women [1] ranging in age from about 20 to 33 (as of 2012).[2] The group staged unauthorized provocative guerrilla performances in public places, performances that were filmed as music videos and posted on the Internet.[3] The collective's lyrical themes included feminism, LGBT rights, and opposition to Russian President Vladimir Putin, whom the group considered to be a dictator, and his policies.[2] These themes also encompassed Putin's links to the leadership of the Russian Orthodox Church

Music is a very powerful tool to get across emotion in the telling of stories, however, I don’t have any musical bones in my body so this isn’t really an option for me! 
Shadow Puppetry- PERFORMANCE WITH PROPS

The Sbek Thom is a Khmer shadow theatre featuring twometre high, non-articulated puppets made of leather openwork. Dating from before the Angkorian period, the Sbek Thom, along with the Royal Ballet and mask theatre, is considered sacred. Dedicated to the divinities, performances could only take place on specific occasions three or four times a year, such as the Khmer New Year, the King’s birthday or the veneration of famous people. After the fall of Angkor in the fifteenth century, the shadow theatre evolved beyond a ritualistic activity to become an artistic form, while retaining its ceremonial dimension.
The puppets are made from a single piece of leather in a special ceremony for each character representing gods and deities. The hides are dyed with a solution made from the bark of the Kandaol tree. The artisan draws the desired figure on the tanned hide, then cuts it out and paints it before attaching it to two bamboo sticks enabling the dancer to control the puppet. 
Shadow puppetry in all of its forms has long been a fascination of mine, along with simple puppetry itself. I think it is a really interesting way of telling a story and it is something I would consider for my project. 
Immersive Theatre - THEATRE WITH A THEMED ENVIRONMENT

Phantasmagoria  was a form of horror theatre that used one or more magic lanterns to project frightening images such as skeletons, demons, and ghosts onto walls, smoke, or semi-transparent screens, typically using rear projection to keep the lantern out of sight. Mobile or portable projectors were used, allowing the projected image to move and change size on the screen, and multiple projecting devices allowed for quick switching of different images.
 In many shows the use of spooky decoration, total darkness, (auto-)suggestive verbal presentation, and sound effects were also key elements. Some shows added all kinds of sensory stimulation, including smells and electric shocks. Even required fasting, fatigue (late shows) and drugs have been mentioned as methods of making sure spectators would be more convinced of what they saw. The shows started under the guise of actual séances in Germany in the late 18th century, and gained popularity through most of Europe (including Britain) throughout the 19th century. 
Theming in an environment, for example stage sets of theme parks, has long been a passion of mine. The more immersive the better. I love the idea of this type of production and think I might use elements of it in my own work. 
Sideshows

In North America, a sideshow is an extra, secondary production associated with a circus, carnival, fair, or other such attraction. 
I think the most interesting thig here are the painted signs leading you to the sideshows. They are such an old fashioned art form. I have previously done a huge project on circus signage so am very interested in painting signage for my project too!
