Keeper -- a short comic about an angel meeting a robotic lighthouse keeper that doesn't know the world has already ended. Made in about 18 hours for a 24-hour 24-page* black and white comic challenge (that I arrived late to, ha.)

*the actual submission does not include the cover, which was created after the fact for this post.

This was a really great learning experience as someone who's... never really made a completed comic. I ended up really attached to the story by the end of the project (possibly due to all-nighter deliriousness lol) and ultimately am very proud of what I made.There are some things I'd still like to change, particularly text placement, but in keeping with the spirit of the challenge I've elected to leave it as is.

Gale of Minrathous

Dragon Age AU where Gale is a Tevinter magister who accidentally infected himself with red lyrium. He's found a way to halt the lyrification. Mostly.

More tidbits:

Devout Andrastian with a bit of Leliana's "the Maker speaks to me" thing going, except it's "Andraste—so obviously a mage btw, I have 5000 words prepared and ready to go on this topic—sings to me, magic prodigy"

"therefore I am sure to be the one to unlock the secrets of this powerful, strange new lyrium that is singing to m—oh. golly. that went poorly"

joins the inquisition after he emerges from isolation and his former peers have all become Venatori. If his own folly has emptied the sand from his hourglass, why not spend the little time that remains to him serving Andraste's chosen?

0 moral qualms about blood magic except that all participants must be willing. All magic is neutral—its use determines whether it is good or bad

Tara is his possessed cat, who has lived far longer than a cat should, but Gale isn't complaining. who says abominations can't like chin scritches

would break open the heavens to see the throne of the Maker, just for the experience

guys I did the thing

I started a arguement with someone in the kotlc Pinterest community about FITZ

basically it was a post saying that “Keefe sencen haters should not exist” and someone comment “I like Fitz better” and the replies were so mean and mushy judging so I said *proceed to show screenshots of the entire thread”

Ending lowkey sucked but the person is definitely gonna reply soon lol. Pretty sure I got it all. Also shoutout too “m” for defending Fitz with 👏 they’re a real one for sure

Did Amy ever get board one day and absentmindedly go to the extra bedroom in their new house like there was someone in there she could talk to. only to realize the bedroom is empty, then she wonders why she expected anyone to be there at all. because she doesn't have any siblings

did her mom ever set four plates for dinner, only to look at the table and realize there was an extra and not understand why she put four plates down in the first place.

did she lay awake at night with a feeling in her soul that she had another child, one that she didn't miscarry. one that she used to hold and laugh with, one that she had kissed goodnight. did she feel insane first laying in bed late at night, scratching her brain trying to remember who this child was, because she swears up and down the hole she felt in her chest could only be made by a missing child

did she talk to William, and tell him about it, did he agree with her, tell her that he felt the same way. that sometimes when he comes home from work he expects one more person to greet him, that he feels a pang in his chest when he sees the extra bedroom in their house acting as an office.

where they haunted by the ghost of what their family had once been? did they wonder why they all act as if theres a extra person in their family when they where acting on instinct? did they feel a tightness in their chest when they saw a stuffed elephant?

did they wonder why it felt like their there was a empty spot at the table, in the car, on the couch?

before they shake it off and remind themselves that only have three people in their family and there had always been three people in their family, even if their hearts seemed to think otherwise.
