Fantasy Yuri Series 'I Want to Love You Till Your Dying Day' Anime Announced

On Sunday, announced that Nachi Aono's dark fantasy manga I Want to Love You Till Your Dying Day (Kimi ga Shinu made Koi wo Shitai) is being adapted into a TV anime series. Social media profiles and a page on production company Infinate for the anime were launched alongside the announcement.

The website contained a pilot teaser and key visual for the anime:

I Want to Love You Till Your Dying Day follows a group of children with magical abilities, trained at a secret orphanage to be weapons of war. One morning, 14-year-old Sheena, in the midst of grief over losing her friend, is approached by a mysterious girl, covered in blood. It turns out her name is Mimi Kagari, the school's secret weapon, a girl who is unable to die. And she is Sheena's new classmate and roommate. Despite their very different dispositions and opinions on the war, a strange attraction grows between the two girls.

Takudai Kakuchi (Tokyo Autumn Session) is directing the anime at ROLL2. Infinite is producing the series, with EVOLROAR providing production support. Yasushi Tomoda is the assistant director, and Jukki Hanada (Sound! Euphonium, Love Love!) oversees and writes the script. Kyoko Yufu designs the characters, and Yakari Hashimoto is in charge of music composition.

The anime will star Rei Takahashi as Sheena Totsuki and Rina Hidaka as Mimi Kagari. They are joined Yui Ishikawa and Asami Seto. A full website for the TV anime will be launched in mid-March that may contain more details.

Manga creator Nachi Aono posted to X (formerly Twitter) to celebrate the news, writing, "I hope many people will enjoy it. Thank you very much!" She also created a special illustration to celebrate the announcement.

The manga series began publication in Comic Yuri Hime in August 2018. It moved to online serialization on Ichijin Plus and PIxiv in early 2020. The series has received mostly positive reviews from audiences, who praise its characters and heavy subject matter. The series was nominated for the 2019 Next Manga Award in the print category. However, it did not score in the top 20. It was later featured in MyAnimeList's 2024 "You Should Read This Manga" list in the Unique Art/Story category.

Ichijinsha will release the eighth collected volume of I Want to Love You Till Your Dying Day in Japanese on March 17. Kodansha USA licenses The manga in English and released the first volume on February 18. The second English volume will be published on April 15.

Only at night (Licht). Summary

I wanna express my endless gratitude to those who actually do real translations. It is extremely difficult work. It's a wonderful story, and I'm very grateful for the opportunity to read it.

Just a little warning. Due to a very unlucky incident, I did not have the opportunity to read the last chapter of this story (it's my fault Mimi, mine). But… previous experience tells me that the last chapter usually contains mostly spicy scene with lots of sweet confessions. Most likely, it was the same here. But… we won't know until we read it ourselves, right? So I'm very much looking forward to this event on the EN server. I really liked the story!

Licht and Belle are sitting on the bench and enjoying company each other. Belle bought a muffins and offered it to Licht.

Oh, no, baby-bird! You're so cute!!! Cute baby-bird Licht!!!

They chat cutely, complimenting each other and kissing in the process. A little girl runs up to them and interrupts their date. Nowadays children have no idea when they shouldn't bother adults.

Licht asks if this is her acquaintance. Belle confirms. This is a girl who often came to the reading sessions.

The girl told them that she was looking for a magical animal. She heard from another child that he had actually seen one of them.

After the girl left them, Belle fell into thought. She can't stop thinking about this magical animal. She knows a kid who said he saw it, and he's not the type to lie. And maybe it's a real magical animal after all.

A unicorn? Right? It must be a unicorn!!!

Licht immediately understood what Belle was worried about. If children know that magical animals only appear at night, they can run away at night to look for them. And it's not safe.

Belle said that the fact that Licht was going on patrol was very encouraging. But she had a request. She wanted to go with him. She felt guilty about getting the children interested in magical animals. And she could talk to them if they met them (which baby Licht wasn't particually good at). Her determination to go no matter what made him very happy. So he agreed to take her with him.

At night

They patrolled the night streets. Belle stumbled and almost fell, but Licht catched her and offered to hold hands. He looked like he would cry if she refused, so she happily agreed.

Holding hands, they continue to patrol in search of children. They don't seem to be there. But Belle worries that if the rumors continue, some children may still go looking for them at night. So it would be better if they found what started the rumors.

Licht asked Belle about magical animals, and she explains that they only exist in fairy tales.

Belle agrees that she is excited.

I played with words a lot in this part, so it's not very accurate. I didn't like the original text, so… I took liberties.

Belle feels bad about her sudden excitement. They are on duty, after all. And Licht assures her that he feels the same way. It's because she's with him. And when she's having fun, he's having fun as well.

I somehow missed this part earlier, but they'll talk about it later. That magical creatures, if you spot them, will grant your wish.

They went to the market. And Belle noted again that this place seemed completely different. Licht added that they don't sell muffins at night. Honey, are you already suffering from sugar deficiency? And Belle said that they had a rare opportunity to look at the goods up close. The crowd of people doesn't allow them to do this. I wonder what they meant by that? Are there any glass display cases here? But there are only open stalls in the picture. I don't think the sellers left their goods there.

So… There is Tanzanite cloth on the display… and Belle was absolutely delighted… It is so beautiful and mysterious. She offer to Light to look at it, but hey… he preferred to look at her excited face. Cute.

Unfortunately we don't know what exactly he wanted because I don't have a 4ch of this event. But… I have a feeling it's the same as Belle's. Those two are very similar.

I'm extremely happy about this event. It's absolutely adorable and naive (I still can't get over that shady place and the ease with which Licht gave his beloved fiance that… very suspicious drink). But it makes me smile a lot. Licht is cute… his very existence is already adorable��� and their interactions with Belle are still just sweet. But not too much, not to the point of toothache. And I expect there to be a very hot scene in the last chapter. So… as I said at the beginning… I'm really looking forward to this event on the EN server.

Narunaka Kanade

Narunaka Kanade, also known as Echolo, is an 18 year old girl who attends UA in Class 3-B. She is mixed between Filipina and Japanese and lives alone with her pet dog Mimi.

Appearance

Kanade has light brown skin and long, wild purple hair. She has purple eyes and wears round brown glasses. Her ears are long and pointed at the tips, like an elf. She stands at about 175 cm and has a lithe frame.

Personality

Kanade is a quiet, soft girl. She is polite and respectful towards everyone, and is very smart. She is a stable and reliable person who doesn't let people take advantage of her. She has a lot of wisdom and self respect.

Kanade is compassionate and likes helping people. She is mature and strong willed. She can seem a bit bland at times, but she doesn't care about those types of things. She has sensitive hearing due to her Quirk, so she likes peace and quiet, and spends a lot of time at places like the library.

In battle, Kanade is an opponent who strikes quick and uses her agility to the best of her ability. She moves gracefully and skillfully, and makes her Quirk more useful than it would normally be.

Relationships

Family

Kanade was estranged from the rest of her family when she was young. She was sent to live with her aunt in Japan, but was kicked out in favor of the aunt's boyfriend. She found a job and has been renting a small apartment ever since she was 14.

Friends

When Kanade started high school, she made friends with Namera Kagari and the Hasaba twins, Tetsuo and Sayuki. She gets along with Tetsuo because she's calm and quiet, and she gets along with Sayuki because she goes along with her wild ideas (though will reel her back in if it gets too crazy). Kagari and Kanade have similar personalities, and can mesh together easily.

Quirk

Basic Function

Kanade’s Quirk is Echolocation. She lets out a high pitched chirp that bounces off her surroundings up to 100 meters and returns to her, and based on the timing she can figure out the position, speed, number and other details about her surroundings. Her ears are adapted to receive the chirp, which has the added effect of heightening her overall hearing.

Special Moves

Chirp: Kanade will release a loud chirp in order to startle or stun her opponent with the sudden loud noise.

Map: Kanade will send her chirp 100 meters to map out her terrain.

Sonar: Kanade will use her hearing skills to hone in on quiet sounds in loud places.

Limitations/Weaknesses

Kanade has enhanced hearing due to her Quirk, so she is very sensitive to loud noises all the time. She can only send her chirp up to 100 meters. The volume of her chirp determines the range of the sound and the detail of the information she recieves. This Quirk has very limited offensive uses.

Kanade’s favorite fruit is strawberries.

The kanji in Kanade can also be read as Eko (echo) or Noizu (noise).

Kanade can speak Tagalog fluently.

Kanade’s name means sound, ring, and echo.
