This is a northbound Soo Line freight enjoying trackage rights on the Milwaukee Road, northwest of Milwaukee. We are looking north along North 76th Street, with Good Hope Road just beyond.

It’s interesting to note that one roster found on-line lists this unit as an F3: I know that some of the later F3 models had stainless steel vents along the top like F7s to come, so this may be the case. This roster says the unit would be retired in a matter of months, so I’m glad I saw it in revenue service.

Happy for Milwaukee Bucks @Bucks Win the 2021 @NBA Championship! It brings good memories for me about the city of Milwaukee where I used to live there, graduated from University of Milwaukee - Wisconsin @UWM_sarup, and got my first built project over there. The story started with my connection to Mr. Marvin Fishman who one of the original owners of the Milwaukee Bucks. Fishman was instrumental in raising money to bring the Bucks to Milwaukee and drafted @KareemAbdulJabbar. The @Bucks won an NBA title in 1971. The love of jazz music connected me with Marv Fishman who was a good friend of the famous jazz pianists Ramsey Lewis and Ahmad Jamal. The Terrace Avenue project was commissioned by Mr. Fishman to me as my first project in Milwaukee. It took two years of public hearing before it was finally built. At the end, feel proud that my design was standing side be side with Frank Lloyd Wright and Louis Sullivan house design located on the Historic Preservation area in the city of Milwaukee @DiscoverMilwaukee. Advantage Of Mediation In Divorce When there are issues and disputes between two parties, the best thing to do is not to bring the action right away to the court of law. Bad Photo

When out shooting, one can equipment issues, horrible technique, bad processing, and much later on, sketchy scanning. And then one can have all four of these things.

I think this was a trip where I had dropped my camera and afterwards had issues with obtaining normal focus. I think an element must have been knocked loose within the compound lens. Camera shake is evident due to the bad weather and subsequent slow shutter speed. The film development seems to have provided for a color shift (which I tried to remove for the digital version seen here). And ever since I updated my scanning software, I don’t feel that I’m on top of the settings needed to get the sharpest scan.

And yet I still enjoy the photograph. Perhaps this is due to the charismatic locomotive shown, or the equally alluring caboose behind it.

The locomotive is a Fairbanks Morse H-12-44 which was built for the Milwaukee Road in 1954. I believe these were constructed in Beloit, found relatively nearby. (I should say, this unit has been saved and now lives at the Mad River & NKP Railroad Museum, Bellevue, Ohio.) And the crummy seen, known as a “rib-sided” affair, is somewhat endemic to the CMStP&P Railroad (if I’m not mistaken). They were first built in 1939 and had long, useful lives on the railroad.
