Thoughts on MK1 girlies:

Sindel - she's such a mom. I don't even mean it in a disparaging way. Moreso that watching her interact with Mileena was like watching my own mom and big sister fight. She is stressed™. I mean, her husband(and apparently love of her life, since she seems torn to shreds over him) was murdered,with seemingly no rhyme or reason as to why. Then Mileena goes and catches Tarkat. Now she's got people in her own court trying to threaten not just her rule,but her daughter's rule as well. Sis is going through It™. But outside of that, I enjoyed her.

Mileena - my insufferable girl rep. I just know she used to terrorize both of her parents growing up. Borderlines on bratty as hell at times(rather that than the weird childlike behaviour they had her going for in prior games). Also this game proves how love-starved Mileena was in prior timelines, because look at how she blossomed in a healthy home environment with people that love her. Don't love how she treated Li Mei, but like.......she thinks that Li Mei's getting away with murder,literally. I would be spicy too if the person that appears to be responsible for my father's death is just waltzing the streets with seemingly no consequences.

Kitana - best girl™. Literal sweetheart. Low-key spoiled as hell, but sweet despite it. And she's very clearly a daddy's girl(her little reunion with Ermac/Jerrod was very cute). Would have been really nice if she actually had something to do.

Nitara - This is one case where I think she was better in her OG game. That's one thing MK:DA did pretty well. Give Nitara something to do, I beg. Also, OG Nitara would have never agreed to work with Quan Chi. She would have sat down, plotted and planned and gotten shit done on her own. Let her be a self-serving bitch in peace.

Ashrah - surprisingly quite fun. I really enjoy her and she seems to be having a good time,which we love to see.

Tanya - give this woman something to do, part 3. Her and Mileena were cute. Wish we got more than just meaningful looks™, but we ball.

Li Mei - deserves so much more. Where is this woman's apology? Half of the female cast,plus the Umgadi needs to apologize for how they treated her. I mean the groveling kind of apology, not just a quick sorry either. That's Kitana and Mileena's pseudo-auntie that y'all did like that.

Yeah I mostly agree with this.

While I hate how Sindel treated Li Mei (and let's be honest, Mileena and Kitana were just following her example), I did love seeing her yank on Shao's leash. I think everything she did to help Mileena is actually fine and her story overall was fine... except for the ending. Lame. Also the love story between her and Jerrod is kinda boring. I don't know why the game is investing in romances involving dead NPCs instead of ones that have chemistry and history.

Li Mei and Ashrah are long time favorites, so I'm thrilled to see them shining. But Ashrah has some messed up perspectives that I want them to explore more (killing your own kind to purify yourself? Sis???). I get a heavy self loathing vibe that I want them to lean into. Li Mei deserves several thousand apologies, girl literally did nothing wrong and if she had heel turned I would've supported her. She's literally best girl, my beloved wife. Ashrah and Syzoth are random but kinda cute, I won't lie. AshRep and Mileenya > Jerrod/Sindel and Kuai/Harumi

I sorta disagree with you about Kitana. In real life, I would probably like Kitana fine but as a character in a story, she doesn't do it for me. She's just kinda boring, in my opinion. The scene of her stroking Mileena's face was so sweet though, one of my fave moments. I do like her new dynamic with Mileena.

Mileena's story needs more detail. I have no idea why people were supposedly supporting Kitana over her??? I get that Mileena had a lot going on between the Tarkat and the forbidden romance with Tanya, but they said that and then like. never followed up with details about why people didn't support Mileena pre-Tarkat. She confirmed has the support of the Empress, the Constabulary and Umgadi, and there's nothing to indicate that she didn't have Shao or Rain's support prior to Shang Tsung showing up (and they wouldn't have supported Kitana anyway)... so like??? Who was against her???

100% agree about Tanya. Also Liu Kang bragging that 'his Tanya' was much improved was really weird.

Nitara definitely has potential, they just did nothing with her. She brings up a great point that just bc her people need blood to survive does not mean they deserve to be exterminated. She's just kinda there bc Quan Chi needed lackeys.

I can't wait for Sareena to show up, her interactions with Ashrah, Nitara and everyone from Earthrealm are gonna be so good.

I can see Karlach as a Bruce/Murdock Main but abuses the same grabbles over and over.

Jaheira as the feel of a brutal Jun Kazama main that switched to Zafina/Asuka when she plays with her kids.

Wyll would try and Main yoshimitsu for the sword but fails to get pass round 3 on story mode

what's NICE about this is it sets a precedent and establishes him as a trustworthy adult, at least in that he tells her stuff and he can be believed. because she's in that transitional age where you kinda have to start treating teenagers like adults with some things - just, adults who are much more fragile and have minimal life experience - and that means giving them freedom to see stuff that might be hard for them. like. um. mass graves. okay I'm adjusting this to fit a zombie apocalypse setting and that's making it a little intense. sorry about that.

Had some more free time and was on a roll, so I sat down to (again try my best to) translate more Rays Yuan/Martel stuff. And I did Yuan's profile. So here... :3 (Disclaimer: Japanese isn't my first or even second language, so I might be off with the exact tone or something at times, but I think I got the gist. Note that the first part somehow switched tenses a bit in Japanese?? and I have no idea what to do with that?? so I put it all in past tense to get an English text that flows...)

Yuan-san may have a sarcastic side, but I think he's actually a loving and very kind person. The way he cherishes his engagement ring is proof of that! However, it is a bit frustrating that he can't seem to properly express his love to Martel-san, even though they are engaged. He still blushes when he talks to her. According to Mithos, he's always been unable to openly say that he liked her, even back in the days, so I guess it can't be helped. But I understand how he feels. Sometimes, when I look at Ix, my face turns red, too.

Ix' Memo:

Surprise presents had become a craze at our Hideout and Yuan-san decided to join in. He waited for a good opportunity when his target, Lloyd, would be asleep and went to sneak the present under his pillow. Alas, he was spotted and lost the game. That was surprising, because here I thought he would be good at infiltration. Come to think of it, Mithos said Yuan-san was a bit of a loose cannon. Yeah... So that's what he meant. But the gift he chose for Lloyd was a very artistically crafted paperweight, so I think he has a fine sense for art. I'd like to learn from him how to not be fixated only on battle.

Going offline + quick question

I haven’t updated my poor MK fanfic, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?, in approximately 92-and-a-half dogs years, so I’ll be remaining offline until I’ve finally written up the latest chapter. For those who’ve been waiting patiently for an update, I hope you’ll like the chapter that I’m cooking up (please expect Kitana gunning for Kotal Kahn during the main course, Smoke being milliseconds away from going absolutely befok on Hanzo, and poor Raiden praying that he and his guests will make it to dessert).

I’m very aware that I’ve got asks/messages/tagged posts that I haven’t answered nor replied to yet – thank you for your unending patience, and apologies for not answering/replying in the longest time. You guys deserve medals for waiting so long. And chocolate. And medals made out of chocolate.

Before I go, however, I just want to ask you ducks something – well, it’s more of asking for your opinion: a while back, I wrote in this post about potential Mortal Kombat fanfic ideas. One of them was about retelling MK11′s story mode, with the inclusion of various missing characters such as Mileena, Kung Jin, Takeda, Kenshi, Reptile, Smoke, Stryker, Ferra/Torr, etc., and with the aim of filling in some plot gaps, revising existing plot points, and going into depth with regards to characterisation.

Now, a month or so back, I thought that I would actually like to get this fic off the ground. It would be much more dramatic than GWCTD? (with a tiny sprinkling of humour, but not so much that it takes away from the drama), and it won’t take the plot of Aftermath into account (on the basis that I haven’t played or seen Aftermath, and also because I heard it was quite rubbish).

Most importantly, I want to focus on the characterisation aspect. Like, there are many plotlines that I want to explore and expand on, with the aim of giving all the characters a chance in the spotlight.

For several examples, how Cassie’s really coping after losing her mother; how present!Johnny appreciates past!Sonya more in light of present!Sonya’s death (and the grieving he goes through while putting on a strong, humorous front), and how the latter learns to love past!Johnny; Reptile, overcome by hopelessness because no one – not even his beloved emperor, Kotal Kahn – can restore his race, being persuaded by Kronika to join her forces (along with Ferra/Torr) because she has the power to bring the Zaterrans back; Mileena being brought back from the past and either gets redemption by working with Kitana (but also Ko-Ko, her enemy), or working with Shao Kahn (but she does not trust that literal backstabber, D’Vorah); Kenshi and Ermac’s mysterious connection, as well as past!/present!Jax’s desire for revenge, putting a strain on Takeda and Jacqui’s own relationship; Cetrion – and maybe even Geras – questioning Kronika’s intentions to rewrite the timeline, wondering if it’s all worth getting her mother’s approval but sacrificing her morals and free will in the process, and (potentially) exploring her relationship with Raiden ... and of course, all the other Shaolin Monk-bonding/SubScorp vs SubSmoke/“How the hell did I end up falling for your future self when your past self is a Black Dragon scumbag, Erron/Kabal?” stuff that I have in mind, as I mentioned in the other post. Plus, also giving charries like Kollector and Skarlet some actual purpose instead of just existing to be beaten up.

But ja, do you guys think that this would be an interesting fic to read? If it sounds like there’s something in it, then I’d love to hear your thoughts. Of course, all the ideas above are subject to change, but I can assure you that it’s not going to be a word-for-word rehash of MK11.

And if it wasn’t obvious, yes, there will be ships. You know, your typical CageBlade, Jakeda, Jax/Vera, Liutana and potential Raiden/Cetrion (I swear, this pairing’s growing on me), with an equal amount of slash à la SubScorp, SubSmoke, StryKabal, Erron/Jin, KenMac and maybeeeee Kotile. Because I have a few or million OTP feels to get out of my system, so there. XP

The Rays Sweetpia Event Parody

Who from Zestiria fandom didn’t love Sweetpia Event in Tales of Rays? Well, I loved it. It was funny and cute, yet I couldn’t help myself, my mind and this parody born. It couldn’t be just a quirk of fate that Mikleo landed in Vanilla - Sorey’s beloved taste! And there was no reaction of our Gentle Shepherd to that. This parody it’s about “the behind the scenes” of Rays Event.

This is something I wanted to edit on computer into proper doujin but I decided to just add text and upload sketches since I have so many projects to end and I can’t do them all in one time. My free time shrank a lot since I need to ran from one doctor to another with my health problems. So better to leave it like this than hide it and forget about it.  It already spend few months as scans on my computer just laying...

I hope you will like it. I had a lot fun in drawing this and once more few minutes ago when I was applying text. I hope it turned out as silly as I wanted.

I drew at that time 2 others “side” comics, one 3 pages takes place after my “Sormik New Years Story” and I have already 2 of them edited so I probably will finish last one today, apply the tones and text and upload it soon too. The second side story was parody of Rays too. In that episode Ix and Mileena learn that Sorey and Mikleo aren’t just childhood friends and they learn why Sorey have become Shepherd. But as for this one I have still one page and two panels clear, no even sketch there, and I still can’t decide if I want to finish it or not ( it’s only 4 pages but somehow I lost interest in that one ^^’)

PS. Oh, and let’s say that Vanilla extract smells good and tastes good in Tales words (or Sorey is just strange and likes it’s taste too xD)
