Andd I'm back with posting more art, this ship round is Miki x Miko! Here I thought I'd do the ship in two different versions, this one and the next picture are based on the Amon OVA, though sadly Miki and Miko never got to interact in that OVA 😔But they did interact a lot more in the live action movie, in fact one of the few good parts of that godawful movie! XD

I kind of envision the relationship between Miki and Mico as Mico kind of at first admiring Miki from afar, almost idolizing her for how confident and beautiful she is, but in time especially after she's become a devilman, she also comes to love Miki for kind and accepting she is of her new form. And on Miki's end, she has always found Mico's tom-boyishness and quiet strength to be very attractive to her, and was touched by Mico's bravery when she had revealed to Miki she was a Devilman. I feel in time Mico's idolizing of Miki fades into a real love when she sees more of the real Miki, the good and bad and comes to understand her better than some of her other lovers did, or rather actually acknowledging what Miki does actually want verses the idolization of her believes she wants.

In this picture is a little AU where Miki gets saved by Akira and Mico from the mob and now Miki is resting peacefully in Mico's lap, neither of them know what the future might bring but for now they are safe and that's all that matters.

SMG4 Revival AU headcanons, part 3

((We have more headcanons for this AU folks, here we go))

**as for this year, X and FM have started dating as well

** Niles and SMG0 are engaged to be married, they got engaged near the end of the Isolation arc

** Axol and Melony are also engaged, they got engaged around the holiday season last year

** currently I have two more couples getting engaged planned for the AU.

** regarding Axol and Melony's engagement, Garcello went with Axol to pick out the ring

** Certain characters know how to play instruments.

** Axol knows how to play the Ocarina and the synth guitar (Gar taught him)

** both Niles and SMG0 can play piano

** as of X and FM dating, Glitchy Red and Steven from Strangled Red have joined the family. King has as well.

** Garcy, Annie, Chris, and King all live together in a pretty big house (Gar's got money from his dad and his career)

** Enzo briefly returned, and isn't too fond of what SMG4 has become (aka modern SMG4)

** Niles has siblings too, five older siblings, making him the youngest. Two older brothers (Milo and Cato) and three older sisters (May, Summer, and Clove) his parents are Camille and Niles Sr. (Yes he's named after his father)

** playing with SMG2's head is like playing with a squishmallow

** When Mario wants to invite people to his big party to celebrate MAR10 Day, Garcello says yes to going, as he was gonna close the music store for the day.

** quick note: Garcello runs a music store, Belle lives in the apartment above the store, making Garcy her landlord.

** Gar however doesn't join Mario and Bowser on their endeavor to change the constitution.

** during the party, Axol and Niles join Bob, Meggy, Tari and SMG3 in trying to get SMG4 to come out of his room. No luck.

** when the big fight occurs between Warriors and Meggy, and them taking out the router, Niles sees an opportunity and hides the router in Garcello's bag. Garcello takes the hint and hides on the roof of the castle

** After SMG4 comes out of his room, he demands to know where the router is, only to realize Garcy's got it and runs outside.

** Garcy hides in the roof of the castle, when he hears SMG4 shout for him, demanding the router back, yelling "why were you even brought back to life?"

** Hurt, Garcy throws the backpack at SMG4's head, knocking him unconscious, before leaving. Axol follows after him.

** SMG4 regains consciousness and the rest of the episode plays out like normal

((Is that last bit going too far? In a sense... yeah, but I feel if that happened, well, let's just say Four's in for some real trouble with both Axol and Garcello. And Annie too))

The first character I first fell in love with: 

XENA!!! It actually took me a few seasons to really start to like Gabrielle lol, but Xena was obviously a fave.

The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: 

Look I def can't say I love him lol, but Joxer really did grow on me eventually and I really didn't expect that. I went from seriously considering dropping the show when I realized he was going to be in many, many episodes, to crying a little when he died. Honestly I think the tipping point was Deja Vu All Over Again. I enjoyed his performance there so it made the actor himself less annoying to watch subsequently.

The character everyone else loves that I don’t: 

Ephiny? I have very little interest in any of the individual Amazons, but fandom is often into them. I don't dislike them, but I don't really care.

The character I love that everyone else hates: 

It's not that everyone hates him, he has his own fanbase, but Ares as a Xena/Gab shipper lol. I love him but it kinda sucks because it means I'm wary about reading X/G fic where he's the villain. I don't mind him being a villain ofc, but he gets written so badly so often. One dimensional evil abusive ex Ares is an instant back-button (though tbf that's also bc it fucks with Xena as a power fantasy lol)

The character I used to love but don’t any longer:

I liked Livia just fine but hated Eve lol, does that count?

The character I would totally smooch:

The character I’d want to be like: 

Xena lol, she's the ultimate power fantasy.

Xena/Gabrielle, and also Gabrielle/Aphrodite and Xena/Ares, usually as more emotionally one-sided where Gab and Xena are still more hung up on each other but Dite and Ares are strung along, or in Ares' case he plays second fiddle to a more important platonic relationship. Oh also Eve/Varia is good in theory but I've never seen any good fic for them. And Xena/Alti. And Callisto/Xena or Callisto/Gab. And Najara/Gab!! And Mel/Janice. Frankly there are so many good f/f ships that should have more fic.

A pairing that I despise: 

Joxer/Gabrielle I guess lol? I get some enjoyment out of Ares/Xena in the show, I get 0 from Joxer's crush on Gab.

Ryo! Obviously he was fave material from the start, I knew what I was getting into.

2 am realization but people can love more than one person at the same time in different but still similar ways??? I not sure if I never realized this because im Aromantic or im realizing it because I am and regardless the way I interact with love is different from how most people do but Basically:

I was thinking about Crybaby Devilman (the one on Netflix haven’t explored any other media) and im a massive miki x miko and ryo x akira shipper and reconciling that with the canon of all this along with the miki x akira despite the lack of any formalized relationship or hinted polyamory has been difficult but here is where realization has struck me

Akira loves Miki because Miki is so so good and she’s beautiful and she’s gorgeous and kind and is always there for him and she’s flawed but she is Miki and he loves her

And Akira loves Ryo because he cares so deeply for Ryo and knows that Ryo suffers so much and struggles so desperately for something that comes so naturally to him (his humanity and in touch connections to humanity in general) that he mourns for him prematurely and loves him anyway because he’s Ryo who has never been naturally good or kind and always gorgeous and overwhelming flawed yet he sees Ryo as perfect because he’s Ryo and he will always follow Ryo because they need each other more than anything

And he does this simultaneously,

There is no great love triangle, no back and forth over capturing someone’s heart because crybaby Devilman is ultimately about love and humanity and it’s so many shades even within the concept of inhumanity that - why would it matter

The fight for love is not some one man crusade against all opponents in his ways despite how often it depicted as being so- always ending in tragedy

Akira lives humanity and more importantly he loves the People in it like his parents who he loved despite never seeing and Miki who was so good yet imperfect and Ryo who was perfect yet so different

And none of this has to conflict

Akira loved two people greatly so romantically yet in so many similar and different ways it’s like looking at a color wheel yet there is no stark shades to contrast each other just differences that blend together

i guess shes technically the adaptation of miko but like no,m, theyre totally different characters. idk its the c-tie honey natsuko treatment

Sometimes I get really disappointed at the Devilman Crybaby fandom. We have Miko, confessing her love to Miki and literally sacrificing herself for her and Miki herself furiously screaming how she also loves Miko. These scenes were obviously romantic (mostly tragic, but also romantic in some way) however there's still people that argue on wether Miko and Miki's relationship was platonic or not, people that ramble and say it was just friendship or dismiss Miko's feelings as confusion or just straight up say they're unrequited.

It was blatantly obvious that Miko and Miki liked each other in more then a friend way, but people still go out of their way to completely ignore an heartbreaking love confession and dismiss their feelings. No, Miki and Miko never actually got into a romantic relationship but it's obvious they loved each other and you may not ship them but please stop heteronormatizating their relationship. So since you ship Ryou x Akira x Miki x Miko in your own devilman verse, what is their relationship dynamic like?

Oh wow, well, hmm - so I kind of imagine a universe where Ryou and Akira manage to best Michael and somehow bargain with/convince god for him to restore/reset Earth and let them be to govern their own affairs. How and the exact details I’m still thinking up; after all, not much is known about god in the Devilman verse other that he is callous and vindictive towards his creations/subjects. What would convince this prideful god to demands complete obedience/subservience from and power over his subjects to stop tormenting Satan for his rebellion, relinquish his hold over Earth, and allow those who have defied him and that he deems unfit creations to exist on a world contrary to his design? I don’t really know: maybe he respects the strength/power it took to defeat Michael, maybe he’s lost interest in Earth over more prominent matters he’s got going on in the universe, maybe he’s capable of showing mercy, maybe he’s just gotten bored or frustrated with torturing Satan and doing all the resets/timeloops, or maybe a combination of the above or something else entirely. I’ll work it out eventually.

But on to the Ryou x Akira x Miki x Miko dynamic, which what I’m really all about. So the four of them come together in this timeline (set at about 2020 or where we are now in real life) at the point before the apocalypse starts with Akira and Ryou holding memories from previous loops - in Ryo’s case many many more than Akira given their capacity as an angel. Ryo has changed/learned a lot from all these loops, especially from their time living as Asuka and Jun, and is ready to yielding control over and making compromises/working with both individuals dear/known to him - mainly Akira but also others like Miki, Miko, and anyone Akira will vouch for - as well as humanity as a whole. It’s a huge undertaking to get demons, humans, and devilmen to do-exist, but it helps that only a select few who’ve been directly involved in causing the previous apocalypses from earlier loops hold those memories.

That’s a whole other post though, so now that we’ve got a vague setting, back to the relationship dynamic. Ryou is obviously deeply in love with Akira and now doing their best to respect him and his autonomy and wants more - and they’ve even learned to extend this care and consideration to others. Akira, being the person he is, acknowledges and accepts Ryou’s efforts - partially because he’s ready for peace and doesn’t want to risk starting another conflict, but also because he does still care for his dear friend and to be able to have that relationship again and in a world where Miki and humanity is also saved does bring him happiness. The beginnings of Ryou and Akita’s official romantic/sexual relationship are slower in developing and navigated step by step. Obviously there’s a lot of issues and feelings to work past, but Ryou has learned both patience and humanity, and their fear of losing Akira again helps them maintain respect for what Akira needs/wants and to let things develop on mutual terms rather than trying to force the relationship.

Akira and Miki on the other hand start dating fairly quickly, as the two already have and established dynamic and relationship based off of care for and understanding of each other, and Akira is beyond over-joyed and grateful to have Miki alive and with him given his memories of what’s happened to her in previous loops. During this time, Miki and Miko remain close friends, but with Miko silently angsting over Miki being in a relationship with someone else and continuing to swallow down her feelings. But Miki knows Miko and her feelings, and sooner than later when the time is right Miki breaches the subject with her. Miko confesses her feelings and Miki affirms her own feelings of love towards Miko and her willingness to reciprocate that sort of relationship with Miko. They inform Akira that they’re going to start dating, and he’s kind of taken aback but after Miki confirming that she still also loves him and doesn’t want to end their current relationship he goes along with it fine.

Akira gets on with and knows Miko well, and her can sense her care for and desire to protect Miki. He also knows of both all the very pure and genuine love Miki has, as well as her stubbornness in doing what she wants, and he understands, accepts, and loves her for these things and the way she can love both him and Miko - as well as all the love and care and understanding she holds for others in platonic and familial ways. Akira and Miko make great friends and fellow devilmen/Miki lovers, and Miki is Miki: full of love and spirit and well-able to care for both herself and her two partners.

Meanwhile Ryou: are they jealous of Miki and her close and loving relationship with Akira given the distance and difficulties still between Akira and themself? Oh, absolutely; but, as I’ve said earlier, they’ve really changed and grown a lot. They have the understanding/capacity to consider Akira’s feelings, how he cares for and treasures Miki, and to respect that. They even have come to be able to acknowledge and appreciate Miki herself as a unique individual (eventually even leading into love and romantic/sexual feelings/relations between the two). It’s part of their realization of how unjust and callously they had been viewing humans, and part of their experiences and understandings from living as Asuka/Jun with this new perspective. In fact, Ryou is learning to see all humans in terms of being unique persons rather than pieces in a condemnable and unworthy whole as a species. One of my favourite aspects of this ship is the four of them coming together and really developing mutual love and understanding between each other, and especially for Ryou that’s a really big and special process.
