WHISPER COURT, my new webcomic/graphic novel, is releasing NOW on Tumblr, Webtoon, and Tapastic!

The Whisper Court Ghost Sanctuary has been a training ground for new paranormal investigators for over a hundred years. Each and every home is haunted by its own spirit, both helpful and vengeful.

All except for one.

Finch forms suddenly and unexpectedly within this unhaunted house. They have no memories of who they were before they appeared, something that catches the attention of the other Ghosts within the Sanctuary.

Finch must now attempt to gain a sense of identity before the month is over, or else they will cease to exist. All the while, more and more distractions pile up. Why is the Head Caretaker so interested in Finch? Why do they have no memory or past? Why do Ghosts keep disappearing from the neighborhood?

And why did all of this only start happening when Finch arrived?

Where did Rook's journey begin? What were they doing before joining the Veilguard?

Cracks my knuckles evilly… Mikal is honestly one of my favorites sfgds and she has the big indulgent backstory… she grew up in the free marches, became a friend of red jenny at the end of the “old guard” (when the jennies were a little bloodier and grimmer), fucked over the merchants’ guild, fucked over the coterie, lived to tell the tale… became the inquisition’s enchantment expert. she and dagna have dissenting opinions on the fade and love each other for it…she and varric do not get along but he really respects her so she ended up called in for the solas hunt (mostly by tessa and charter’s doing, they both thought she’d be a great help, and she does like them both.) i think she was on tessa and vaea’s team and saw the others infrequently before she was moved over in the last year to helping lace and varric; she and lace got along fairly well in the inquisition and worked together great.. she and varric clashed a lot as usual, especially since he’d begun to get more sentimental about solas... I think a hunt of ten years wore on him a lot.

Vasiliki was an old watcher; well known as a bit of a troublemaker for years before she got put on leave for antagonizing the nobility (again)… she grew up in Cumberland alienage i believe, if i have my cities right, and worked on a fishing trawler before she became an apprentice at the necropolis. she’s always prodded at a few of the traditions of the Necropolis - the organization of labor, for one- so she wasn’t at all surprised when Myrna told her to take a vacation, though it was a blow as the necropolis is her home the wisps and spirits are her family and neighbors... i think varric and lace persuaded her to join them by promising her plenty of fade weirdness

What does happily-ever-after look like for Rook? Is it attainable, or just wishful thinking?

they’re both very pragmatic women, they live in the present, mikal’s big pie in the sky dream is to see the thaigs of Rivain but besides that they both roll with the punches so to speak.. not much wishful thinking for either of them..

Mikal is pleased to live day by day.. she wants to see her family as much as she can before she dies, explore the world and see new artistry and craftsmanship, read widely as she can, create whatever burns in her mind and soul… she romanced bellara so i think they visit bel’s clan and mikal’s family together :) mikal’s family has a tradition of engraving a stone to honor those who have passed, and mikal does one for cyrian as a gift to bel. I think they’d be happy to explore and travel together, no matter where they end up living mikal will be a friend of red jenny and bel will be a scholar of dalish magic, and she’ll have mikal read her drafts, and mikal will show her the plans for her designs, and they’ll collaborate on enchantments and so on and so forth… :) clan lutare and the glavonaks celebrating together. i think it would be great

vasiliki would be pleased just to sit by the sea and have a nice meal with someone she likes. I think if she and neve decide to make it work, they’d want to go long distance and visit a few times a year or vasiliki would consider moving to minrathous… she might do so.. her faith in the watch is deeply rattled by johanna.. she’d be a great shadow dragon all things considered, she enjoyed the work while the dragons were scattered post-dragon attack and she and neve balance each other really well … if she hadn’t romanced neve i think she’d move to Rivain, learn more about spirits… not sure what she’d do for a living though… she’s honed herself as a mourn watcher and it’s a particular set of skills

I did briefly lament that she should have been a decade younger and romanced davrin… she would have relished the challenge of training griffons & thumbing her nose at warden politics as the order changes… she and dav have a fantastic and very fun dynamic. ah well </3

Wally Rosette: A sweet kid that was accepted to an elite Villain's training grounds just to get him away from his parents. Does excellent in his studies despite the subject matter and tries his best to be kind to everyone he sees

Mikal: The main antagonist, became a ghost without ever dying through sheer hubris and now steals the energy and life from other ghosts just to maintain his failing form

Sebastian! Thank you my friend :) ... im so sorry i missed this! i hope these answers make sense i went off on the road of rambling….

Describe an interesting character moment for your Rook. What made this moment stand out to you?

I was interested in Mikal’s reaction to the Crossroads specially, because she’s interested in world history and would have been able to speak with many spirits about their lives and experiences… But I think it unnerved her.. on the face of it she enjoys the chance to learn but the Fade and the Veil are not things she likes to tamper with or take lightly... I know there are no consequences for living in the Fade in DA4, but she would expect there to be… I think she’d be glad of Neve and Bel’s expertise and company, and commiserate with Davrin’s discomfort

I was very touched by the quest where you are able to help a sorrowing spirit in Arlathan, it felt like something Vasiliki would personally do, as an oathsworn Watcher and someone who feels strongly about their work and the many forgotten deaths in that forest... Speaking with spirits and honoring the passing of the dead is her calling… I like to think she invoked Falon’Din in the rites, since she reveres him…

What part of Rook do they need to kill to become the best version of themselves?

This was a hard question… I think we are all constantly growing and changing in response to our lives…

I think Mikal is still a little shy and self effacing when it comes to her personal work… She has high standards not because she expects perfection, but because the subjects of her work are things she cares deeply about… She wants to make a worthwhile contribution and is a little shy about other people’s opinions even though she acts like she isn’t. So that might be a place for her to push her own boundaries

I think Vasiliki does not give herself enough credit. Years in the Necropolis has made her very cynical in regards to the administration and leadership of the crypts, and to Nevarran politics of the great noble houses, and she thinks poorly of her own tendencies and motives as a result of being involved in the web of it all… I think finding purpose in a new way would challenge her view of herself

How does Rook's past impact their values? Does their past come with any biases or blind spots they have to account for?

Mikal will readily admit she doesn’t know much about magic... She knows how to fight with mages and how to help with some magic related problems, she knows all about the craft of enchantment, but the politics of enchanters- varying from nation to nation- and the actual craft of magic itself are not anything she’s familiar with. She tries to be very careful to keep mages in the Jennies safe because she learned at a young age how dangerous the public sentiment toward an apostate can be, especially in certain Marcher cities… she’s studied the craft of magic from an outsider pov over the years & always defers to other mages because she wants to be more cautious than might be strictly necessary… Interestingly she isn’t put off by blood magic though, she views it in a similar light as Grey Wardens- odd and uncanny but a part of the world... Necromancy disquiets her but that’s bc she has no reference for the Fade like other people do … she and emmrich get off to an awkward start bc of this

Vasiliki is a Northerner and is not well versed in the politics of the South… She never attended chantry services and doesn’t give a shit for any of it, which puts her adrift in any situations, debates, etc where Southern religious politics are significant... Besides this, she lives in the Necropolis and they don’t get news there unless the Mortalitasi finds it relevant… they’d hear about the breach immediately but not the peace talks for the valmont succession war until they’d already happened, for example... she has a passing knowledge of the South, inasmuch as a Southerner has a passing knowledge of the North.. like anyone she has gaps in her knowledge to remedy but she pointedly refuses to learn about the church beyond what she picked up by osmosis.. She has kind of a private disapproval and disgust about the Southern church’s boot on magic’s neck because of their exalted marches in Rivain and how highly she regards seers and spirits alike … so that influences her perspective as well
