Coney Island was so beautiful at this time of night. The night sky was illuminated with the sparkling shine that the entertainment district gave off. Despite the enchanting scenery, a sense of melancholy enveloped you on this particular night. The realization of your current situation hit home as a teenage girl, clad in an Empire State University sweater, approached your cotton candy stand—a stark reminder of why you were working here.
You could’ve been in her shoes if not for the string of unfortunate events that unfolded in quick succession. Moving out of your aunt and uncle's place had been challenging due to the soaring living costs in New York City. To make matters worse, your ex-lover's reckless gambling had drained your finances, forcing you to put a pause on your education. The dream of becoming a great astronomer remained unfulfilled, and instead, you found yourself working at a shitty cotton candy stand.
Nights like these were bustling, contributing to your current state of dismay. The boardwalk teemed with people, immersed in the company of their significant others and friends—something you currently lacked.
The lingering summer heat made you sweat a little. Adjusting your uniform, you opened the topmost button, and as you looked up, three people stood before you—two redheads and a brunette. "Hi, welcome to Coney Cotton Candy. What can I get for you guys?"
You smile and greet your customers with as much delight as you can conjure. One of the redheads, a very handsome young man, opens his mouth to speak but quickly closes it and furrows his eyebrows instead.
You greeted your customers with a forced delight. The handsome young man among them hesitated before making his order. His friend, addressed as Pete, clarified the order, and the other two in the group walked away, seemingly a couple.
“Alright, can we get three of the little cones?” He fumbled through his wallet, and you noticed his striking green eyes. As you handed back his credit card, his gaze lingered in a way that made your stomach twist.
“Have we met before? I feel like I know you,” he pondered.
“Um, I don’t think so. Maybe you’ve shopped here before?” you suggested, playing it cool.
“Did you go to Midtown High? Or maybe you went to Empire State?” he continued.
“I went to ESU. I couldn't finish my degree, though–unforeseen circumstances,” you replied, throwing up finger quotes. He looked sympathetic, a reaction that both touched and frustrated you.
“I’m sorry, I’ve had some of those lately too. I graduated from ESU in ‘21. What were you studying?” The line behind him grew, and despite wanting to chat further, you had a job to do.
“Astronomy. I’m sorry, but there are customers behind you,” you said, cutting the conversation short. He apologized to the people in line, turning to leave but hesitating for a moment.
“When you get off tonight, come meet me at the Speed Demon!” he called back.
“Please!”
As you continued working, typing into the cash register, and dealing with an impatient mother, you awaited the hour when you would be free.
You sigh, locking the register and slinging your tote bag over your shoulder. The remainder of your shift proved fairly uninteresting after your run-in with the man with pretty green eyes. Walking across the park, you take a deep breath, inhaling the scent of the Atlantic. The waves crash on the shore, creating a soothing backdrop to your uncertain life.
When you arrive at the Speed Demon, the designated meeting spot with the intriguing young man from earlier, you find him leaning casually against the head requirement chart.
"How did you know when I got off work?" you question him, suspicion coloring your tone.
"It said the booth closes at midnight on weekends. I only assumed you wouldn’t have to stay much later than that," he replies, eyeing your face and studying your expressions.
"So, why did you want to meet with me?" you inquire again.
“You said you were studying to be an astronomer, right?” he replies, matter-of-factly.
“Yes, but I told you I couldn’t get my degree. I—”
He cuts you off, “It doesn’t matter; are you good at it?”
“I mean, yes, I would hope so. It’s the only thing I’ve ever been passionate about. I wanted to heal the environment, starting with the stars.” He smirks and looks at his feet, shuffling them.
“Well, would you be interested in not working at Coney Cotton Candy? N-Not that this job isn’t worth your time or anything…” He stumbles over his words a little, getting to his point.
“What are you saying?” Your left eyebrow kicks up in curiosity at his remarks.
“I have a startup foundation in Manhattan. I’m trying to gather as many great scientists and innovators as I can. You seem like a great fit, and it could help you finish your studies.” He smiles wide, and you note that his teeth are perfect.
“Why should you hire some person you don’t know? Isn’t that a little bit sketchy?” You place your hands in your thin jacket pockets and fidget around a little bit, thinking. If he is serious about this, you could kiss him. You would rather work any job other than your current one, no matter a real job where you can actually do what you went to school for.
“You just have that look in your eyes; I can see what type of person you are. You want to help people too. We’d still have to do a real interview, of course; I need to make sure you’re qualified.” He laughs, and his eyes sparkle with enthusiasm; he means what he says.
“I guess it couldn’t hurt.” You roll your neck around a few times, tired from a day's work.
He holds his hand out for you to shake it, and you do.
“We are going to heal the world.”
“So, you haven’t even told me your name yet,” he remarks, walking by your side to the subway station.
“I can say the same thing about you, mystery man. If you weren’t so handsome, I would think you were just some creep trying to murder me,” you admit, probably a little bit too honestly.
He gasps and places a hand on his chest, in faux offense. “I would never, and my name is Harry. Harry Osborn.”
You tell him your name, and he repeats it to himself a few times under his breath. “That's a nice name; it suits you.”
He looks at you, as you are examining your feet. You feel his gaze on you but don’t want to scare him away, so you continue to feign interest in the floor.
“What happened to the people you were with earlier? They ditch you?” you ask, curious about the whereabouts of the group he was with earlier.
“I told them I had some work stuff to do, and they didn’t ask many questions. It was date night for them anyway. I was kind of third-wheeling.” He lets out a small laugh at the admission.
The two of you continue to engage in small talk throughout your walk. When you eventually reach your destination, he stops you.
“Hey, I just wanted to say thank you for giving me the time of day. Not just anyone would do that; you said it yourself, I could have been some kind of psycho freak murderer.” He pauses for a second, opening his mouth and closing it again, thinking about his next words. “I have to be honest, I really wanted to talk to you because I thought you were beautiful; it just helped that you were exactly what my startup is looking for.”
You feel heat rising to your face due to his gentle compliment. Since your last relationship, no one had ever called you beautiful; they only ever called you asking for a check. “Thanks, you’re not too bad yourself. I seriously hope I knock that interview out of the park; I’d rather not go back to slinging cotton candy.”
He chuckles and shakes your hand again, clasping over it with his other hand, lingering for a while. “I’ll see you then.”
part 2: here an: hello! what did you think? reader lowkey miserable until harry shows up LOL. i really wanna do fun stuff with this story idk. i am hoping it came across the way i imagined it! i just like need harry carnally and i realized no one was gonna write about him so i had to take matters into my own hands.

Emptier commuter buses in Atlanta: what does it mean for our urbanism?
The Georgia legislature has cut $4 million of annual funds from metro Atlanta's Xpress commuter buses, and they've ordered the overseeing body, called The ATL, to downsize the whole service. That's according to a new article in Atlanta Business Chronicle (PAYWALLED).
The ATL hopes to reduce the number of Xpress routes taking suburbanites into the city and also reduce the number of suburban park-and-ride locations from 27 to 17.
They also want to eliminate all Xpress bus stops in Midtown, instead taking riders to MARTA rail stations from which they'll navigate on their own into Midtown streets.
According to stats, ridership of Xpress buses has plummeted since Covid, probably due (at least in part) to teleworking.
What does this say about our overall urbanism? It's hard to tell, especially without any stats on changes in car trips during this time period. If people are really working from home and not switching to car trips, that's arguably neutral in terms of mobility.
Though it does mean less vibrancy on city streets from office workers, and fewer customers for lunch restaurants, and lots of wasted space in office buildings that now have empty floors.
And it means that suburbs that used to be "bedroom communities" and now also "home office communities," deserving a major rethink of their design and density. How about some walkable/bikeable/transit-supportive suburbs to add vibrancy on those streets while reducing car trips?
How about rethinking office districts in the city so that they have new residential neighborhood components, with pedestrian-oriented street designs (instead of commuter-car sewers) and a broader mix of uses?
In the meantime, let us know if you're an Xpress user and you have a story to tell in the comments.

Hexel's World Tour Week 6 – Seoul
Everyone, I'm home. I know it sounds so cliche, but the moment I got off the plane in Seoul, I felt like I was coming home🇰🇷❤️. I already knew I could speak Korean, so getting through the airport and to the main city was a breeze (but can we talk about Incheon airport? It is so cool. I could literally spend a whole day at just the airport). I quickly got to my hotel in the middle of Seoul and it is way too nice. I feel like an imposter staying here hahaha.
There are some parts of the city that feel so familiar to me, even though I can't fully remember them. One day, I ended up just walking instinctively to this hole-in-the-wall kalgooksu restaurant and had the best noodle soup ever! 🍜(or I think it's the best I've ever had. It also felt so familiar!) Another place that felt super familiar was Dongdaemun and the Design Plaza. It kind of looks like a spaceship, but I knew exactly where to exit the subway station to get there. It was like instinct. The markets in Dongdaemun are so nice! They have so much fashion and accessories 👗 it was all so overwhelming. But I was able to buy gifts for Georgia while I was there
Talking about cool shops, I just wandered around Insadong for like half a day. There are so many side streets with cafes and small shops that you wouldn't even know were there unless you went to explore. From Insadong, I ended up walking to Bukchon traditional village. Both Insadong and Bukchon are known for their traditional hanok houses. And you all, I could LIVE in one of these. They're so beautiful and smell amazing like wood and paper! I found a place in one of these hanok houses called Aromind which lets you design your own perfume scent! It was so cool and I made one for Krista (hope she likes it!) 🎁
I also wrote down all the food places I loved to go with Dustin if we ever come to Seoul together, including this place that does bbq ribs DIPPED 🍖🧀 in melted cheese and a jjajangmyeon place that handrolls their noodles! I wanted to get Dustin a whole package of Hanwoo--prime Korean BBQ beef (did you know you could buy those?!)--but I was worried about getting it through customs, also, it was a lot to ship back to the US. So I got Dustin some green tea from Ossulloc 🍵, I know it's not technically food, but it's food adjacent! And their tea house in Gwanhun-Dong was so gorgeous with all the traditional ceramics and the little displays about how the teas are roasted! Plus, they're right by Jogyesa Buddhist Temple. They told me Jogyesa is the chief temple of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. The building dates back to the late 14th century! And you can write your wish on a piece of paper and hang it like a little flag. All the wishes fluttering in the air were so beautiful!
I didn't mean to organize my tour around Seoul based on buying the perfect gifts for my friends, but it turned out that way. So I knew I had to find something amazing for Mac, and I did in Gangnam! That neighborhood kind of reminds me of midtown New York with all the skyscrapers and the fancy hotels and buildings. They have the flagship store to this amazing sunglasses store called Gentle Monster. But they don't just sell sunglasses, they also have amazing art displays that the store clerk told me rotates regularly! In fact, lots of the cool high fashion stores do fun artsy displays in Seoul! From there, I just popped over to Lotte World Tower and bought ALL the duty free skincare! I can't wait to try all my facemasks with the band! Apparently Lotte World Tower is the tallest building in South Korea. And they even have an aquarium in there!

A Venezuelan migrant with links to Tren de Aragua has been arrested for allegedly robbing one of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s prosecutors in her apartment building after she busted him masturbating, police sources told The Post Wednesday.
Brandon Simosa, 25, who has apparent ties to the vicious prison gang, was nabbed outside the Row Hotel migrant shelter in Midtown Manhattan Tuesday night over the sick ordeal, the sources said.
He is accused of robbing the 38-year-old assistant district attorney when she arrived home to her 44th Street pad at about 2 a.m. Sunday and busted him midway through the lewd act in the building’s hallway.
Simosa allegedly fled with the prosecutor’s phone after she dropped it at the moment, the sources said.
The phone was later traced to the vicinity of the migrant shelter, according to sources.
Simosa, who was hit with a slew of charges — including sexually motivated robbery, grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property — was spotted smirking as he was hauled away in handcuffs by cops ahead of his pending arraignment Wednesday.
It wasn’t immediately clear when Simosa arrived in the Big Apple, or if he’d been staying at one of the city’s taxpayer-funded migrant shelters.
Simosa illegally crossed into the US at Eagle Pass, Texas in October 2023, federal law-enforcement sources said.
He was taken into custody by US border patrol agents at the time, but later cut loose with a notice to appear before an immigration judge in New York City, the federal sources said.
A judge ended up tossing his removal proceedings case in February, the sources said, though it wasn’t immediately clear why.
The decision left Simosa without any pending immigration applications – meaning he was no longer being actively pursued for deportation.
But during his time in the Big Apple, Simosa racked up a hefty rap sheet — six busts in the last five months alone — police sources said, though due to the city’s sanctuary status US Immigration and Customs Enforcement wouldn’t have been alerted to the arrests by local authorities.
Simosa was picked up just last week for grand larceny and criminal mischief in Manhattan and later cut loose, police sources said.
He was also arrested for a string of grand larceny, robbery, and transit evasion incidents in Queens between June and August, per sources.
The migrant had been due to face a Queens court on Thursday after taking a guilty plea in the earlier cases, the sources added.
The Manhattan DA’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Full Name: Hanna Mazal Anderson
FC: Alia Shawkat
Age/DOB: 35 / January 27th, 1989
Zodiac: Aquarius
Occupation: Cosmetologist/Manager @ Shaya & Co.
Living Arrangements: 1 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment w/ balcony in Midtown
Sexuality: Bisexual
Secret: TBA
Biography in the read more! TW: Death in family
Hanna Anderson doesn’t remember much about the home city she was born in, Chicago, since she moved to Wilmington, NC when she was 2 years old. Wilmington was what Hanna considered her hometown. She grew up in a ranch style 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house with 2 acres of land in the Masonboro neighborhood. Hanna was the second oldest of the five Anderson children. Despite her older brother, Sam, and her having a 3 year age difference, the two were pretty close. Sam was always protective of her, making sure she kept away from trouble and did her homework. When she was old enough to, Hanna offered to do what she could to help her parents, learning to cook and clean among other things alongside her mother. Being so close to her mother was how Hanna came to love doing hair. She followed her mom to various houses of family friends to watch how she cut and styled everyone’s hair. Hanna’s mother was raised muslim, so the Anderson household grew up eating a halal diet (no pork, no animal shortening, no alcohol). They celebrated all holidays including Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, though religion was not strictly enforced by her parents. Hanna was never very religious, but went through the motions for her mother’s happiness.
Growing up, Hanna’s father was away from home often due to being in medical school. He was determined to make a good living for his family, which is something Hanna admired about him. Despite having to work so much, her father was always around for the major events. That included when Hanna graduated high school at the top of her class. However, her father never agreed with her choice of college: Aveda Institute Wilmington to study Cosmetology. It was her dream, but her father never agreed with it. He tried his best to be supportive, but also secretly somewhat hated it. Hanna’s mother, on the other hand, found her choice inspiring and decided to open a beauty salon in midtown Wilmington called Shaya & Co. Her mom always loved doing hair and figured the town could use a good place to get pampered up. A year later when she was 19, Hanna graduated from cosmetology school with her father not showing up for once... Figuring it was time to leave the nest and get away from pain, Hanna left her parent’s house in search of a new home. She found a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom with a small balcony in midtown, not too far from her mother’s salon actually, and claimed it as hers. Hanna started working in her mother’s salon shortly after moving. Even though her relationship with her father was strained now, her mother still wanted to help her as much as she could.
Customers started to love Hanna at Shaya & Co. and began requesting her. Her mother loved seeing her little girl excel so well at the craft and named her the shop manager within her first year of working. Some would say it was because Hanna was her daughter, but Hanna knew it was her hard work that got her the promotion. At age 21, she was now a boss babe as she dreamed of being. Yet, a piece of her was missing… Her father had still never apologized for missing her graduation from cosmetology school. In fact, there were no words from him in the past several years. It hurt to miss her father, but at least Hanna still had her mother and siblings. They just celebrated holidays without their father… For 4 years at least until finally their father made a change. He decided to step back from being chief surgeon at the hospital and just became an attending surgeon, working less hours to be with the family more. And, her father also showed up for Hanna’s 25th birthday to apologize. Finally, the Anderson family was healing from the past and moving forward.
5 years passed, during which Hanna lived a pretty normal life. She worked at the salon, hung out with friends and family, enjoyed the little moments in life with those she loved, etc. When the news came that her older brother was killed during a work mission in Syria, the female realized how short life was. The past 30 years went by and she had never admitted to even herself that she was bisexual. She knew that fact since age 12 but never dared to voice it aloud. Although, for fear of ruining a relationship with her parents, she kept it a secret. Due to no one knowing, she only dated boys. Until she met the woman she thought she would marry and spend the rest of her life with, Sloane. Hanna was willing to risk it all for her and told her family about her sexuality. She finally admitted at age 30 who she really was. To her surprise, her family was supportive, even her father. She was so grateful for that, not wanting to go back to not speaking to her dad for years again. Sloane and Hanna got engaged within two months of meeting. Maybe it was the recent grief of losing her brother or maybe it was just as that saying said ‘when you know, you know’.
Whatever the case, Hanna was on cloud nine, finding such happiness from the fullness of her life with her fiance now included. That happiness was short-lived when she caught Sloane cheating. Hanna immediately called off the engagement and cut all ties with the woman. Since that heartbreak, Hanna never got close to anyone again. She had some flings, some hookups, some non-sober mistakes, but the female vowed to never have a serious relationship again. Hanna was happy now to avoid utter humiliation and any heartbreak by finding joy in the life of family, friends, work, and little moments. Of course, that meant the romance department of her life was pretty bare nowadays.

⸻ ayça ayşin turan, 31, cis female, she/her // in the MIDTOWN neighborhood of Wilmington, you’ll find FIDAN DURSUN who’s lived there for THIRTY-ONE YEARS and they spend their days working as a FOOD AND WINE CRITIC + FOOD BLOGGER. They’ve been described as CREATIVE, PASSIONATE, HEDONISTIC, AND FOOLHARDY by the people that know them. This is his story.
“We lead our lives like water flowing down a hill, going more or less in one direction until we splash into something that forces us to find a new course.”
triggers: loose mentions of drug use
One year prior to Fidan Dursun’s first moments into the world her parents had immigrated from Turkey to Wilmington, NC. It was a difficult move and a tough decision to leave the culture and family they knew behind for the opportunities that were promised in Wilmington but Fidan’s parent were nothing if not daring and courageous. Setting down roots in a foreign and unfamiliar place had been tough but the small family persevered and found their way through the twists and turns of life. They started off small and humble in South Hills and grew their jewelry business from the ground up.
Throughout most of her childhood Fidan felt as though she didn’t€™t really fit in. Making connections with other kids and relating to them was challenge due to her home life being so vastly different as her parents stayed true to their Turkish culture and customs. Eventually through her passion for cuisine and the artistry behind a chefs work, she began to come out of her shell and her personality started to shine. It was community classes at the local college or rec center that her parents had entered her in that started off her life long passion for the culinary arts. From then on the dream was to be one of the greatest chefs in the world. Fidan wanted her own show on tv just like the personalities she watched and supported like a religion.
Instead of university, which she chose to forgo for culinary school, she pursued her dreams by following a blueprint of someone like Anthony Bourdain. A chef and human being she admired on too many levels. Without intention Fidan’s experiences mirrored his a little too closely. Her first jobs at restaurants made her feel a bit like a rockstar and she enjoyed the rush. Sometimes even dabbled in the extremes that kind of life offered. The best thing was the opportunities that came her way and who she was able to work under. Most of the time Fidan jumped around, worked whatever gig she was offered no matter where it took her, like New York or Los Angeles.
It was the jobs she took in Paris and London where big mistakes were made. Not only were important things left behind at a moment's notice in leaving the US for amazing opportunities, Fidan also lived it up a little too hard. Eventually leaving herself open for big mistakes that cost her way too much. Not only had Fidan missed work, shown up late, took advantage of the names she was working with for clout and notoriety, but she also unintentionally stole from the restaurants. Whether it was giving away incredibly expensive ingredients, free meals worth hundreds to thousands, there was also the partying that caused her to show up drunk and still strung out on occasions.
Being reprimanded, fired, and a sore note put on her name devastated Fidan. Not only had she taken everything for-granted, she destroyed connections and ruined her future. In an industry where reputation meant everything, she'd become blacklisted by the people at the top. Coming home to Wilmington a failure and with her tail between her legs, Fidan was forced to start all over from the bottom and to do so with a name that no one wanted to see. Eventually after tireless toil and continuing to prove herself the immediate glare of her actions had waved off. The blog she'd begun, The Foodie Diaries, had taken off, making her popular on social media. Then big publications began asking for her two cents in the ways of writing reviews of restaurants and chefs. With that a new career within her dream industry took off. The only focus now is not to ruin what she'd rebuilt.

A few years ago, and a lifetime away - I found a frame in the dumpster.
I was managing the factory for all of the J Pocker and Son Picture Frame Company stores, of which there were five in the metropolitan area. We handled all the art which came through the company, - framing, fitting, storing - it all ended up in Mamaroneck with me and the crew.
Because of midtown Manhattan trash laws, that particular store sent their customer discarded frames out to us to dispose of. This frame arrived with the rest of the trash.
In the city, the rich, ancient dowagers usually arrived at the frame counter in the company of their “Designer” (which is a nice word for “interior decorator” - absurd thieves who convince the wealthy that all taste and discernment belongs only to themselves)
They are a plague which infest the homes of the rich and famous. The old lady with the checkbook plonks down that Hermes Birkin Bag on the table, and we are off to the races….
Somehow, somewhere, I don’t know HOW - one of these sheisters convinced their “client” to throw away this frame, and order something new and modern-made.
Circa 1810, hand turned on a circular lathe (with a kick-plate and a hand-held chisel) this frame came to life. It was applied with compo acanthus leaves, egg-and-dart running lip, and banded laurel-leaves along the back edge. Red, blue and black bole was applied - and then it was gilded in 22k gold.
I grabbed it as it was dumped off the truck, and Gary ( one of the older Fitters In the shop) made a bee-line straight toward it.
He wanted it. I wanted it, we tussled a little - and I had to pull rank on him. “I’m your boss. It’s mine. Fuck off”
I made him cut a circular mirror to fit inside it.
It’s been on my walls ever since.
But
I have a grand piano to pay for.
It’s gone off to auction land with the snarky, snorky set - ADAMS AUCTION IN DUBLIN.
Fly high and find yourself a home that will appreciate your magnificent story.
I bet Gary is STILL pissed….

The World's Skinniest Skyscraper
The designers behind the world's skinniest skyscraper have just given fans of ultra-luxury living an early Christmas gift.
New York-based firm Studio Sofield has unveiled the interiors of Steinway Tower, the newly constructed 1,428-foot-tall tower overlooking Central Park. The announcement marks the completion of the opulent midtown Manhattan landmark, which was built on a site once occupied by the historic Steinway & Sons piano company.
The 91-story skyscraper, also known as 111 West 57th Street, contains 46 full-floor and duplex residences. Photos released this month by the designers show opulent lobbies decked out in limestone, marble, blackened steel and velvet, floors paved in smoke-gray solid oak and original artworks by Picasso and Matisse.
According to Studio Sofield, Steinway Tower's interiors were designed to evoke the grandeur of New York's Gilded Age, a period in the late 19th century when the city's boulevards were lined with the stately mansions of robber barons like Andrew Carnegie and Cornelius Vanderbilt. It sits on a Midtown street, filled with gleaming towers, that has become known as "Billionaire's Row."
Studio Sofield's founder, William Sofield, said he wanted to make the tower feel unmistakably New York.
"We've all been to very luxurious places, but I wanted to create a building that could not be anywhere else in the world," he said. "I know so many people might have multiple homes, who will have apartments here. And I wanted to create a very distinct experience that could only be had in New York."
A record feat
Elsewhere, the building's interiors include an 82-foot swimming pool housed in a light-filled room featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and a row of Kentia palms. There's also a modern take on New York's legendary King Cole Bar, complete with an ornamental balcony and custom gold and silver murals.
Other amenities include private dining rooms with a chef's catering kitchen, a golf simulator and a landscaped terrace.
"I always am very personal in my work," Sofield said. "So (take) the swimming pool, for example ... I didn't want it to feel like a normal swimming pool. It has wood paneling with great detailing and gold leaf details.
"It has a vaulted ceiling," he added. "It has draperies... So it's very unlike any swimming pool you would find in New York."
With a height-to-width ratio of 24:1, Steinway Tower has been described by its developers as "the most slender skyscraper in the world." The tower's facade includes blocks of terracotta, a material that appears to change color and texture when seen in different lights and from different angles.
At 1,428 feet, it is also one of the tallest buildings in the Western hemisphere, standing just short of two others in New York City: The 1,776-foot-tall One World Trade Center and the 1,550-foot-tall Central Park Tower.
Super-slender skyscrapers, also known as pencil towers, became standout features of the Hong Kong skyline in the 1970s. Since then, major cities such as New York have followed suit.
Residences in the Manhattan skyscraper, which was developed by the JDS Development Group and Property Markets Group, range in price from $7.75 million to $66 million.
By John Blake.

Venezuelan Illegal 'Connected To Tren De Aragua' Arrested After Robbing Alvin Bragg Prosecutor, Displaying Lewd Act
(L) NEW YORK, NEW YORK – MAY 30: Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg stands with members of his staff.
According to police sources who spoke to the press on Wednesday, a Venezuelan illegal immigrant connected to the violent gang Tren de Aragua was detained after robbing one of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s prosecutors in her apartment building after she caught him sexually “relieving” himself.
Surfacing reports announced that 25-year-old Brandon Simosa, who is said to be connected to the ruthless Venezuelan gang, was apprehended on Tuesday night outside the Row NYC Hotel migrant shelter in Midtown Manhattan.
When the 38-year-old assistant district attorney came home to her 44th Street apartment at around two in the morning on Sunday, that’s when he robbed her. She reportedly caught him in the middle of the obscene sexual act in the corridor of the building.
Simosa, who is also known as Brandon Jesus Simoza Seijas, also allegedly stole the prosecutor’s phone when she dropped it, running off with it. Sources noted that the phone was later located near the migrant shelter.
Simosa, who now faces numerous charges, including grand larceny, sexually motivated robbery, and illegal possession of stolen property, was seen smiling as police dragged him away in handcuffs before his scheduled arraignment on Wednesday.
Specifically when and where Simosa had been residing in New York was not included in the officer’s information. According to insiders, one of his residences was once on the list of the city’s taxpayer-funded Queens migrant shelters, according to the New York Post.
Federal law enforcement officials told the press that Simosa illegally entered the United States in October last year at Eagle Pass, Texas.
Federal authorities also say that he was initially detained by U.S. border patrol officials, but was later released with a notice to appear before an immigration judge in New York City. However, a court ultimately threw out his removal procedures case in February for “unknown” reasons, according to the sources. Simosa was no longer being aggressively sought for deportation as a result of the ruling, which left him with no pending immigration applications.
Although local officials wouldn’t have notified U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement of the arrests due to the city’s “sanctuary” status, Simosa amassed a substantial criminal record during his short time in the Big Apple, including six busts in the last ten months alone, according to police.
Police sources also noted that Simosa was arrested just last week and charged with grand larceny in connection with a theft that occurred at a CVS store in Times Square on April 23rd. He was released soon after.
According to authorities, he was also detained for a series of other robberies, violent assaults, and transit evasions that occurred in Queens and Manhattan between January and August.
His arrests for the Times Square CVS incident on November 11th, grand larceny inside Macy’s at the Queens Center Mall in Elmhurst on August 5th, and robbery at a Flushing supermarket on June 13th are among the at least three cases he still has pending, the police sources added.
